For and against essays
A for and against essay is a formal piece of writing in which a topic is considered from opposing
points of view. You should present both sides in a fair way by discussing them objectively and in equal
detail. A good essay of this type should consist of:
a) an introductory paragraph in which you clearly state the topic to be discussed, without giving your
opinion;
b) a main body in which the points for and against along with your justifications, examples or reasons
are presented in separate paragraphs; and
c) a closing paragraph in which you state your opinion or give a balanced consid¬eration of the topic.

Satire About Drinking And Driving
The Drive Of Your Life The Risk Of Life The fact that you can take another person s life away so
quickly is disturbing. When you are in a four thousand pound wrecking ball you need to be careful,
and pay attention at all times when in the car. If you are starting to get tired pull off to the side of the
road or highway you are on is way better than potentially taking your life and others away. Take a
thirty to forty minute break. It s worth it, trust me. If you re getting bored, turn on music or pull of to a
gas station and get a drink or food. The littlest things can make a huge difference. Another thing is
follow laws, you may even go five miles per hour fast. But if a cop pulls you over, first off you get a

Pbgd Polypeptide Chain Analysis
The PBGD polypeptide chain consists of 313 amino acids and is approximately 57 x 43 x 32 Å in size.
Crystal structure of PBGD revealed a highly flexible protein with three equally sized α/β domains.
The N terminal domain (domain 1) and the central domain (domain 2) have similar structures, both
being doubly wound parallel beta sheets. Domain 3 (C terminal) is an open faced, anti parallel, three
stranded beta sheet with one side covered in 3 alpha helices, this domain interacts with both 1 and 2.
In domains 1 and 2, each sheet has 4 parallel and 1 anti parallel strand with alpha helical segments
packed against each face and are orientated parallel to one another. Domains 1 2 are motifs and they
are both related by a two fold axis. Domain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PBGD is the third enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of heme production and when the production
of this enzyme is stopped, or in some cases the activity of the enzyme is hindered, this disease may
develop. Acute Intermittent Porphyria causes abdominal pain, neurological and psychiatric issues such
as hallucinations and also results in an increase in levels of ALA heme precursors and PBG in urine.
The p.Gln204Lys mutation in exon 10 is evidenced to directly link to the development of AIP.
Analysing enzyme activity with the wild form of the mutation shows the relationship between mutant
and AIP. Glu204Lys showed to have 46 ± 0.72% of wild type activity, which did not correlate with the
expected 50% decrease in enzyme activity when associated with mutants so, further analysis was
undergone. Heat inactivation studies showed that the PBGD is very stable but the wild enzyme lost
30% of its activity post incubation at 65o¬¬¬C for 240 mins. This data relates to the large number of
ion pairs, which are built into the enzyme structure. The half life of the mutant affected enzyme was
three times less than the wild enzyme type at 100 minutes which relates to AIP as a decrease in
enzyme activity can lead to symptoms of AIP. This then evidences that the Gln204lys has a negative
effect on protein stability. The Gln204 residue is on the surface of the central domain and located

Shawshank Redemption Essay
Based on the 1982 Stephen King novella titled Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, Frank
Darabont s film adaptation The Shawshank Redemption was released in 1994 and become a
remarkable motion picture in the history of American cinema. The film tells the story of prison life,
focusing on the mutual trust, friendship and growth prisoners experience together set against the
intolerable hardship and despair of prison life. Moreover, the movie portrays the nearly twenty year
friendship between two imprisoned men, Andy Dufresne and Ellis Red Redding, and how their self
concepts gradually change and their behaviors adjust to life behind bars. In 1948, a young and well off
Boston banker named Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) comes to Shawshank prison ... Show more

During Andy and Red s first encounter in the yard when Andy asks Red if he could possibly get him a
rock hammer he says to Red I have no enemies here and Red replies No? with a smile, and said Wait
awhile (King, 1982). Since Andy is new to prison life, he does not understand that the second he
walked into Shawshank prison he made enemies already, but Red understands that and sarcastically
warns Andy about the possible threats are becoming more apparent. A man like Red, a man who has
many friends on the inside know that those friends and popularity will help keep him safe and alive.
While Andy is a man without friends and will eventually not be safe in Shawshank Prison anymore
unless he begins to make friends and alliances. The scenes that the bus enter the prison best represents
the dynamic or an individual outsider within an outsider group. Separation between the new prisoners
and the old ones is clearly evident in this scene. The way the old prisoners are taunting and attempting
to frighten the news ones is a prime example. The experienced inmates know the system and the
organizational culture; they know the do s and don ts of prison life, whereas the novices do not. The
fences surrounding the prison maintain the idea that prisoners are outside of mainstream society, but
also part of a separate community within the

Vaccines Are A Major Cause Of Autism
Abstract
Ever since a study was posted by Ohio State University in 1998, a belief has existed that vaccines are
a major cause of autism. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove
this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many
science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included
surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that
vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including
information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship
between these two. This is significant because it dispels the aforementioned belief. It also shows that
people have been misinformed for years, something that must be corrected.
Intro
Autism is a disorder that is classified by certain difficulties with social skills, difficulties with
communication, and repetitive behavior (NIHM RSS). One of the first studies that started the belief
that vaccines may be the leading cause of autism started in 1998. The MMR scare started 10 years ago
with a report published which described the case of 8 children who...developed autistic symptoms and
digestive ailments shortly after getting their first MMR dose, (Downs). This report, paired with claims

Animal Farm Totalitarianism
In George Orwell s classic novel, Animal Farm, Orwell uses symbolism to suggest that totalitarianistic
governments do not always last. Symbolism is the use of a person, place, thing, or idea to represent
something else. Because of how they run the farm and scare the animals into submission, Old Major,
Mr. Jones, and Napoleon are all characters in Animal Farm that symbolize totalitarianism. At the
beginning of the book, Old Major, a highly respected figure, had experienced a dream that he had
wanted to share with all of the other animals. Because Old Major was becoming old and was living
out the last of his days, the dream had prompted him to gather the animals in the big barn to relay the
dream immediately. He urged the animals to rebel against Mr. Jones and take control of the farm by
scaring them into action. No animal escapes the cruel knife in the end. (Orwell 9) he had stated. By
the end of his speech, the animals were angry and scared of how their lives would eventually end
according to Old Major. Not long after his speech Old Major died, but not without making the animals
fearful of what would happen if they did not respect his wishes. ... Show more content on

Jones, the alcoholic owner of Manor Farm, ran the farm in a similar fashion to Old Major. He scared
the animals into obeying by abusing them and neglecting them. The next moment he and his four men
were in the store shed with whips in their hands, lashing out in all directions. (Orwell 19). Mr. Jones
would forget to feed the animals and when they would attempt to get food, he would punish them with
whips. In turn, the animals would submit to him out of fear and Mr. Jones stayed in charge. That is
until they got fed up with the ill treatment and rebelled against Mr. Jones. The animals chased Mr.
Jones from the farm and once again got rid of

3 Roles The KJV and the Lincoln commentary (Word Biblical Commentary series) The number of

conjunctions above are coordinate, meaning that it links three equal statements together, one subject to

Human Relationships and Happiness
Human Relationships and Happiness Happiness is only experienced when you share it with others
around you. Your friends, family, significant others, peers, and books all show a person how it is better
to share your happiness with others than to experience it by yourself. In songs the artists always sing
about how they are happier with people and how it is hard to share things by being alone. Although
being alone can be nice and it gives you a feeling of serenity, it isn t the same as it would be with
someone else because you are able to share it with family, friends, significant others, and books. All of
these factors help with how you experience your own happiness. Family is a key part to a person s
happiness. Your mother and father ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By getting help from friends and people that you love it helps you grow as a person and it makes you
stronger. When you don t have friends like this it is hard to feel happy and to share that happiness
which makes these relationships more meaningful than being alone and not being able to have those
laughs with others. After reading so many books I have come to realize that the only time a character
is sad or upset about something is because they aren t able to share something that has happened in
their life. For example, in the book Beastly the main character is popular and has everything he wants
but isn t able to share the fact that he won class president because his father isn t ever there for him.
But because he is so selfish he is turned into a beast and the only way to change back is to have
someone fall in love with him not by looks but what is on the inside. He was always sad and depressed
because he wasn t able to find someone that would love him for who he really is, but when he finds
someone he shares a connection with her and begins to express happiness. This book is a perfect
example as to why human relationships equal happiness. Happiness is only experienced when you
share it with others around you. You re family, friends, significant others, and even in books, show
how happiness can only be achieved when you share it. Like Chris

The Stereotype For A United States Senator
The stereotype for a United States Senator is often the same stereotype associated with the Republican
Party: wealthy, white, older male. While Senator Elizabeth Warren is not a spring chicken and is
white, that is where the similarities end. The following information is from Elizabeth Warren (2015).
Senator Warren came from a struggling middle class family, the youngest of four. Her father suffered
from a heart attack and the family began to accumulate medical bills. Warren started working at the
age of 13 to help pay the bills. Graduating high school at the age of 16, Warren attended George
Washington University on a full ride debate scholarship, a skill she would use periodically throughout
her life. Graduating the University of Houston with a speech pathology degree she became the first
person in her family to graduate college. After two children, a divorce and earning her law degree
Warren began to develop an interest in bankruptcy and how it particularly plagued middle class
families. Thanks to this interest and a tap from Senator Harry Reid, Warren chaired the Congressional
Oversight Panel in 2008. Warren and the panel investigated the financial crisis as well as the banks
that contributed to the economic downfall. Three years later Warren designed the Consumer Financial
Protection Bureau to protect consumers from signing risky loans and to watch the credit bureaus.
Later that year Warren became special assistant to President Obama, she also announces her candidacy

Ancient Indi The Ancient Indian Civilization
Kevin Maxim

8th Grade Social Studies E Block

Ancient India The ancient Indians were highly influenced by the Ganges river, in fact that was one of
the reasons they stayed around so long. This river gave them fertile soil, and also played a big role in
their religious practices. The ancient Indian civilization lasted from 3300 BC to 1500 BC. (Kokila)
Ancient India had very broad social pyramid requirements and the classes were servants, farmers,
warriors and king, and the highest class which was above the king. If it were not for the Ganges River
or any other natural resource in the Indus Valley the ancient Indian civilization would not have
survived very long. The Ganges River is also sometimes referred to as the Ganga River, and it played
a big part in the survival of ancient India. Since it is known to be a symbol of the goddess Ganga, the
Ganga River also influenced the religious beliefs of ancient India. It was believed by Hindus to be
holy water and if you swam in it you would be forgiven for all of your sins. (Ganga River) This river
gave them fertile soil to grow crops on, and without it the ancient Indian civilization would never have
succeeded because they could not have gone anywhere to grow crops and. (Ganga River) If it were not
for the agriculture that the river gave ancient India there would be no social class or government. The
Ganges River and the Himalayas combined to protect ancient India from invaders and other
civilizations.

Shooting a Sweep Single From beginners to Olympic Champions, the sweep single is a trenchant
takedown used by all types of wrestlers. It really is a shot that everyone can use no matter the wrestler
s size, shape, or skill level. There are many different variations to this wrestling move with countless
set ups and finishes to it. To successfully complete the sweeping single, a wrestler must focus on
creating a variety of movements that lead to the actual shot which can then be finished to score the
two point takedown.
Before a wrestler can ever shoot a sweep single, they first have to get ahold of the opponent by

To begin taking the shot the wrestler must first lower their level. This is an intrinsic part in the whole
process. Usually, the wrestler who is lower in height will win the battle, which is the same with many
other contact sports. The attacking wrestler will lower his level to become more powerful and also to
avoid the opponent s upper body defense. The attacking wrestler will then drive off of their back leg
and penetrate into their opponent. This particular shot is called a sweeping single for two reasons. The
sweeping part comes in because as the attacking wrestler is penetrating in, the will windshield wipe
their feet around their opponent in order to get behind them. The second reason is the single part,
which means the attacking wrestler will grab one leg instead of two. After the wrestler is in deep on
their sweeping single shot, they can begin to finish the

The Six Day War And Its Impact On Arab Nations
The six day war can go down in history as one of the worst wars between Israel and one or more Arab
countries. The six day war heavily impacted Israel and the participating Arab countries in many ways.
Israeli and Arab relations have never been good, even before Israel was declared an independent state
in 1948. The six day war should not be considered a new war based on its impact, rather it should be
considered as a continuation of a constant war between Israel and its surrounding Arab neighbors. A
factor that has always played a major part in instigating a conflict between Israel and its Arab
neighbors is the refusal and rejection of the Arab leadership to indentify Israel as the homeland of the
Jewish people. The war began with all surrounding Arab countries lining up along each border ready
to try and wipe Israel out using air attacks, as well as ground attacks. The Six Day War concluded with
an evident victory in favor of the Israelis, which to some is surprising due to the overwhelming force
of the three militaries, which were ganging up on one small country. The casualty numbers ended up
in favor of the Israeli s who only lost somewhere near 700 people with 2,500 injured, while, Egypt lost
15,000 people and had 5,600 taken as prisoners, Jordan lost close to 6,000 people and Syria suffered
somewhere close to 1,000 casualties (Knesset). The Arab attackers lost close to 1 billion dollars worth
of aircrafts, tanks and heavy machinery in total between all three countries

The Issue of Palestinian Refugees Right of Return
The Issue of Right of Return of the Palestinian Refugees
The problem is that Israelis and Palestinians are divided over the more than 4 million Palestinian
refugees who insist on returning to the homes that they lost during the 1948 and later during the 6 Day
War in 1967. Palestinians claim that these were their homes and they have a right to return to them
Israelis, on the other hand, generally, find the idea of such an exponential return of Palestinians to the
heart of Israel frightening since it may override the ratio of balance of Palestinians to Israelis as well
as importing possible terrorism (e.g. Quandt, 2005)
The refuge problem first initiated with the 1948 War Which Israelis dub the War of Independence and
Palestinians call the Nakba when some 700,000 Arab residents (85%) left their home, some
voluntarily, others forced, finding refuge in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Gaza Strip, which was
then administered by Egypt. Others were left homeless in Israel. (Brynen, 2007) whilst the Six Day
War caused a further flight of 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians from Israeli won territory.
The Oslo Accords in 1993, negotiated by the EU, Israel, and the US, recognized a Palestinian state
under the Fatah party (led by Yasser Arafat) and established that the Palestinian refugees would be
controlled by this rule. They also planned to solve the refugee problem (largely by monetary
compensation) by 1996. Unrest and terrorism, as well as internal conflict on the solution,

The Demonstration Of Leadership By Craig Johnson Essay
Demonstration of Leadership Craig Johnson wrote an article in November 2008 to evaluate the most
controversial tenure of Carly Fiorina, the former Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard (HP),
using the ethical leadership construct. In the article, Johnson generates several questions that relate to
leadership and management practices. The evaluation of HP s former Chief Executive Officer is
influenced by the fact that the company experienced a decline in productivity within a short period
after the CEO entered the organization. Actually, Fiorina entered a largely successful firm and
introduced significant changes within a short time duration, which had considerable impacts on the
firm s operations. The dramatic changes that were introduced within a short time culminated in the
decline of the value of the company s stock within five years and the eventual unceremonious removal
of the CEO. This paper provides a response to the article through examining how it demonstrates
leadership.
Analysis and Discussion As previously mentioned, the article by Craig Johnson examines the rise and
fall of Carly Fiorina, HP s former Chief Executive Officer who was unceremoniously removed
following the tremendous impact that her dramatic changes had on the firm s productivity and success.
At the turn of the millennium, Carleton Fiorina was the most powerful businesswoman in the United
States who rose quickly through the ranks at AT T and Lucent Technologies (Johnson, 2008, p.188).

Gregor Mendel s Laws Of Inheritance
Gregor Mendel s Laws of Inheritance Gregor Mendel, also know as the Father of genetics, was a
monk who studied pea plants and discovered the laws of heredity. Heredity is the passing of traits
from one generation to another. There are three laws and they are known as; the law of dominance,
law of segregation, and the law of independent assortment.
The law of dominance states that the dominant alleles always show and the recessive alleles can be
hidden because of that. For example, if brown eyes are dominant in a family, their genotype would be
AA or Aa. In a heterozygous pair, like Aa, the dominant allele would appear in the phenotype because
dominant will always show even though there a

problems. Russia would not have existed by 1920 were it not for Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the only man
capable of saving the failing nation.

He formed his own political party, the Bolsheviks, a split off of the earlier Marxists. Unlike other
parties of his time, Lenin limited membership to a small number of full time revolutionaries (Haney
41). This dedication and tight organization later proved both useful and effective. From 1897 to 1917,
he traveled all over Europe writing propaganda, organizing strikes, and encouraging revolution among
the working class, especially in Russia (Lenin, V.I. 191). Lenin knew what he wanted, knew how to
get it, and was willing to wait.
During World War I, the time was right and Lenin was the man. Czar Nicholas II remained totally
focused on winning the war, and did not hesitate before committing more men and supplies to the war
effort(Haney 65). But for an already starving country, every train that brought supplies to the front
could not also be bringing food to peasants. With public sentiment and even the Czar s own army
against him, Nicholas abdicated the throne in March of 1917 (69). A government by soviets (councils)
was instated, but did not last long. After that, Alexander Kerensky seized power. In November, Lenin
and his Bolsheviks, with help from armed citizens, stopped the revolving door. They took over St.
Petersburg (then Petrograd) and later captured Moscow, meeting little resistance along the way
(Jantzen 613). Lenin took over the government and signed a treaty with Germany to take Russia out of
the war. Immediately

The book begins with the Director of Hatcheries and Conditioning explains that this Utopia breeds
people by artificially fertilizing a mother s eggs to create babies that grow in bottles. Everyone

June 2015, Trump s Presidential announcement which alters the experience of nation wide politics

serious trouble. No one respects the U.S. anymore, and everyone else in the world is laughing at us.
Focusing his message on the American public (Applemen, 2015). The propaganda technique continues
as the current politicians are no action, and they are full of hot air. Trump continues as he exaggerates
his claims of Mexico, China, and ISIS are defeating us, as begins to lay the groundwork of generating
fear. Trump continues as he offers the hope of promising happiness and that our country justifies a
comeback. The idea of this was just one person asserting his pursuit of peace to make this country
great again. As he proclaimed, the American Dream is dead as millions of the viewing public watched

By: Shelly Ray

Over the weekend, the nation watched and listened as the Not Guilty verdict was read for second
degree murder and manslaughter charges in the case of George Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman is the 29
year old neighborhood watchman man and man who fired the fatal shot of 17 year old Trayvon Martin
on the evening of February 26, 2012 in Sanford, Florida. The subject I will bring before you is that of

Last and certainly not least I respect and abide by the laws of our country. If each municipal local
governing agency would pass legislation to ensure the safety of neighborhoods, communities,
civilians, law enforcement and government officials under due proper guidelines, all will have
knowledge of what can and can not be done as a neighborhood watch person. The National Institute of
Justice prepared a report to the United States Congress entitled Preventing Crime: What Works; What
Doesn t; What s Promising. The primary conclusion of the report found that in part enacting programs
in different local communities sometimes work, sometimes don t work in curving crime and in
monitoring the effectiveness of community organizations and neighborhood watch programs. The
report dug into the monies spent for federally to be used in local communities. In 1996, $1.4 billion
was used in funding of local police by the Office for Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS),
and $1.8 billion in local crime prevention assistance funding of a wide range of institutions by the
Office for Justice Programs (OJP). Although funding is still being received and legislation being
enacted, it is primarily up to local communities to pass legislation that is in the best interest of all of
the citizens in each respective community.

Introduction
In November 2010, an explosion occurred in Pike River coal mine (PRCM) that caused the death of
29 miners. It was considered as the worst incident in New Zealand after 96 years (Mussen, Dally,
Watkins, Chapman, 2012). Pike River Coal Mine was set to be the largest underground coal mine in
New Zealand. The explosion occurred 2 months after the mine started their operation. In this report,
project management failures in Pike River mine will be discuss and the ways that it could be
improved. We will also analyse the theory of team process, motivation and communication and how it
relates to the issues surrounding the disaster.
Pike River represented a number of project management failures. Discuss what they were and how
could the management of this project have been improved.
Coal mining is said to be one of the most dangerous type of mining in the world because it exposes
miners to a wide range of risks and health hazards inside the tunnel (Gowrisankaran, He, Lutz,
Burgess. 2015). Health and Safety was the major issue identified in the Pike River mine disaster.
Proper inspection was not implemented to ensure safety of employees, contractors and subcontractors.
They also have insufficient information on the geological location of the mine which was a major
factor in the disaster.
According to the Royal Commission report (2012), Pike River mine s board of directors did not assess

1 Clone Detection
When the software are created, many times the codes are simply copy pasted, with small changes.
This is called cloning. Investigating these copy pasted sections of source codes is called Clone
Detection. It was discovered that about 10 15% of the code in a software system was copy pasted[1]
For refac toring, or at least noting. Clone detection techniques try to nd cloned codes. Techniques
for detecting clones may include programming language speci c parsing to simple text based analysis.
Parsing code technique have an advantage as they are semantically aware which allows them to detect
similarities between the structures of di erent code segments where the dif ference between naming
of variables and parameters is too much. The latter, on the other hand, can be used over a broad
variety of material as they aren t language speci c.
NiCad[2], a clone detector tool, uses hybrid clone detection method, com bining features of both
language sensitive parsing and text based analysis.
It works in three stages Parsing, Normalization and comparison. The rst stage involves parsing the
input source to extract all fragments of a given granularity, such as

I Am An American Teenager With An Hispanic Background
Nowadays, people are exposed to more cultures that they are not accustomed to than in the past. As
the years go by, more interracial marriages are being accepted exposing future generations to multi
cultures. I am an American teenager with an Hispanic background. My parents, born and raised in
Guatemala immigrated to the United States a few years before my birth. Since my birth, I have been
exposed to two very different types of cultures. I have lived in the United States all my life while I
have visited Guatemala a couple of times for a few weeks each. Being more accustomed to life in the
United States, life in Guatemala is very distinctive. Communicating with family in Guatemala was
definitely more challenging than communicating with the family back home in the United States.
These types of situations have led to complexities in communication, a topic that LaRay M. Barna
analyzes thoroughly in her article Intercultural Communication Stumbling Blocks. The complexities
in communication that Barna addresses are spread into five stumbling blocks: language, nonverbal
signs and symbols, preconceptions and stereotypes, tendency to evaluate, and high anxiety. These five
stumbling blocks can occur in any shape or form in communication between two cultures. Language,
nonverbal signs and symbols, as well as preconceptions and stereotypes are the stumbling blocks that
occurred most when communicating with my family that reside in Guatemala. According to Barna,

Female Priests And The Gender Inequality Within The...
Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church
From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the
condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of
Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the thorn in the side of progressive ideas,
movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest
religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent of the world s population and a half of all
Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ( Catholic Desires for Change ). Catholicism is unique
among Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure
has remained almost unchanged since the time of the Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow
evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of
the solar system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei s crimes of
heresy, three centuries after the man s death (Cowell, 1992). As many western institutions begin to
diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female
participation in all positions of authority and significance. The Church s sedated progressivism has
never been more egregious than in the rapidly changing society of the last half century, with the
millennia old barriers of sexism rapidly

The Role Of Laws In The Code Of Hammurabi
laws play a major role in the Justice, Morality, and safety of a nation and its people. The Code Of
Hammurabi One of the earliest sets of laws in Mesopotamia composed around (1795 1750 B.C.E.). In
The Code Of Hammurabi justice is instilled by a set of laws that either punished by death or serious
bodily harm on the individual who committed the crime. One prime example of a Justice law would
be, code one If a man accuses another man and charges him with homicide but cannot bring proof
against him, his accuser shall be killed . A major Pro for this code is it protects law abiding citizens
from false accusations and discourages individuals from making false pretenses in the means to gain.
On the other hand, a con for this code is that it could end up reversing a crime from the guilty party to
the innocent, taking the life of a good citizen.
Furthermore, laws that regulated the Mesopotamian society of Hammurabi were necessary for society
to flourish and grow without bumps or hiccups. These laws attempted to regulate morality in an effort
to maintain social order. Such laws regulating adultery, incest, and marriage illustrate ... Show more

3. Vygotsky s main Theory is the Social Development Theory. He was known for his Sociocultural
Theory.
With this theory, he talks about how children s behaviors, as well as their thoughts, can differ because
of cultures and how they are raised. The children s interactions change according to their cultures and
teachings.
His theory suggests that the children s development is according to their cultures and how they are
raised, the children have their own view of their world depending on their way they are taught and the
tools that they are given as they grow up. Vygotsky talks about imitative learning, instructed learning,
and collaborative learning. Imitative learning is where the child learns from watching and imitating a
person. Instructed learning where the student learns to remember the teacher s instructions then they
are to do the work, and then there is Collaborative, this involves students that work together and try to

Nowadays, it s very common to find young girls and teens paying attention to the models appearance

There is no such thing as an average human being. If you have a normal brain, you are superior. There
s almost nothing that you can t do. Ben Carson
Although Ben Carson is world renowned in the medical field as a gifted Neurosurgeon, Ben Carson
began a humble life. According to bio.True Story, (Ben Carson, biography), Ben s mother, Sonya,
dropped out of school in the third grade and at the age of 13 married Robert Carson, a Baptist minister.
The couple moved to Detroit, Michigan where Ben and his older brother, Curtis, were born. However,
when Ben was 8 and Curtis was 10, Sonya Carson s husband left her to raise the boys on her own.
With little education, Sonya struggled to provide for her boys. She worked two or three jobs at a time
as a domestic servant. As a family, they would pick vegetables for local farmers in exchange for a part
of the crop. Ben s mother s diligence and creativity to provide for her boys had a tremendous influence
on, Ben and Curtis. (Ben Carson, biography) Gregg and Deborah Lewis state (2002) Sonya Carson

Verona Monologue
Yesterday, at approximately 9am, the streets of Verona faced its third civil brawl from two feuding
families: the Capulets and Montagues. Several members from both the Capulet and Montague
household have once again compromised the peace of Verona. What started as a little quarrel between
both houses soon escalated into a full blown battle comprising not only of the aforementioned
households, but also many of the civilians living in Verona. Many were later found dead or severely
injured. What actually started the fight remained unresolved for a long period of time due to the
contrasting statements that were given from both the Capulets and Montagues. However, once the
initial shock of yet another brawl was over, many witnesses have approached the authorities with valid
information. It appears that the fight began when Sampson, a servant of the Capulet household,

  • 6. Pbgd Polypeptide Chain Analysis The PBGD polypeptide chain consists of 313 amino acids and is approximately 57 x 43 x 32 Å in size. Crystal structure of PBGD revealed a highly flexible protein with three equally sized α/β domains. The N terminal domain (domain 1) and the central domain (domain 2) have similar structures, both being doubly wound parallel beta sheets. Domain 3 (C terminal) is an open faced, anti parallel, three stranded beta sheet with one side covered in 3 alpha helices, this domain interacts with both 1 and 2. In domains 1 and 2, each sheet has 4 parallel and 1 anti parallel strand with alpha helical segments packed against each face and are orientated parallel to one another. Domains 1 2 are motifs and they are both related by a two fold axis. Domain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... PBGD is the third enzyme in the biosynthetic pathway of heme production and when the production of this enzyme is stopped, or in some cases the activity of the enzyme is hindered, this disease may develop. Acute Intermittent Porphyria causes abdominal pain, neurological and psychiatric issues such as hallucinations and also results in an increase in levels of ALA heme precursors and PBG in urine. The p.Gln204Lys mutation in exon 10 is evidenced to directly link to the development of AIP. Analysing enzyme activity with the wild form of the mutation shows the relationship between mutant and AIP. Glu204Lys showed to have 46 ± 0.72% of wild type activity, which did not correlate with the expected 50% decrease in enzyme activity when associated with mutants so, further analysis was undergone. Heat inactivation studies showed that the PBGD is very stable but the wild enzyme lost 30% of its activity post incubation at 65o¬¬¬C for 240 mins. This data relates to the large number of ion pairs, which are built into the enzyme structure. The half life of the mutant affected enzyme was three times less than the wild enzyme type at 100 minutes which relates to AIP as a decrease in enzyme activity can lead to symptoms of AIP. This then evidences that the Gln204lys has a negative effect on protein stability. The Gln204 residue is on the surface of the central domain and located away from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shawshank Redemption Essay Based on the 1982 Stephen King novella titled Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont s film adaptation The Shawshank Redemption was released in 1994 and become a remarkable motion picture in the history of American cinema. The film tells the story of prison life, focusing on the mutual trust, friendship and growth prisoners experience together set against the intolerable hardship and despair of prison life. Moreover, the movie portrays the nearly twenty year friendship between two imprisoned men, Andy Dufresne and Ellis Red Redding, and how their self concepts gradually change and their behaviors adjust to life behind bars. During Andy and Red s first encounter in the yard when Andy asks Red if he could possibly get him a rock hammer he says to Red I have no enemies here and Red replies No? with a smile, and said Wait awhile (King, 1982). Since Andy is new to prison life, he does not understand that the second he walked into Shawshank prison he made enemies already, but Red understands that and sarcastically warns Andy about the possible threats are becoming more apparent. A man like Red, a man who has many friends on the inside know that those friends and popularity will help keep him safe and alive. While Andy is a man without friends and will eventually not be safe in Shawshank Prison anymore unless he begins to make friends and alliances. The scenes that the bus enter the prison best represents the dynamic or an individual outsider within an outsider group. Separation between the new prisoners and the old ones is clearly evident in this scene. The way the old prisoners are taunting and attempting to frighten the news ones is a prime example. The experienced inmates know the system and the organizational culture; they know the do s and don ts of prison life, whereas the novices do not. The fences surrounding the prison maintain the idea that prisoners are outside of mainstream society, but also part of a separate community within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Vaccines Are A Major Cause Of Autism Abstract Ever since a study was posted by Ohio State University in 1998, a belief has existed that vaccines are a major cause of autism. Despite the fact that large amounts of research have been done to disprove this belief, the belief still persists. The research done in this paper were obtained by searching many science databases. These studies consist of experiments and result analysis. The studies included surveys, examination of health databases, and medical examinations. The experiments proved that vaccines do not have a causal relationship with autism. This is shown by multiple points, including information on the times of vaccines and diagnosis, and graphs and charts showing the relationship between these two. This is significant because it dispels the aforementioned belief. It also shows that people have been misinformed for years, something that must be corrected. Intro Autism is a disorder that is classified by certain difficulties with social skills, difficulties with communication, and repetitive behavior (NIHM RSS). One of the first studies that started the belief that vaccines may be the leading cause of autism started in 1998. • 9. Animal Farm Totalitarianism In George Orwell s classic novel, Animal Farm, Orwell uses symbolism to suggest that totalitarianistic governments do not always last. Symbolism is the use of a person, place, thing, or idea to represent something else. Because of how they run the farm and scare the animals into submission, Old Major, Mr. Jones, and Napoleon are all characters in Animal Farm that symbolize totalitarianism. At the beginning of the book, Old Major, a highly respected figure, had experienced a dream that he had wanted to share with all of the other animals. Because Old Major was becoming old and was living out the last of his days, the dream had prompted him to gather the animals in the big barn to relay the dream immediately. He urged the animals to rebel against Mr. Jones and take control of the farm by scaring them into action. No animal escapes the cruel knife in the end. (Orwell 9) he had stated. By the end of his speech, the animals were angry and scared of how their lives would eventually end according to Old Major. Mr. Jones would forget to feed the animals and when they would attempt to get food, he would punish them with whips. Your friends, family, significant others, peers, and books all show a person how it is better to share your happiness with others than to experience it by yourself. In songs the artists always sing about how they are happier with people and how it is hard to share things by being alone. Although being alone can be nice and it gives you a feeling of serenity, it isn t the same as it would be with someone else because you are able to share it with family, friends, significant others, and books. By getting help from friends and people that you love it helps you grow as a person and it makes you stronger. When you don t have friends like this it is hard to feel happy and to share that happiness which makes these relationships more meaningful than being alone and not being able to have those laughs with others. After reading so many books I have come to realize that the only time a character is sad or upset about something is because they aren t able to share something that has happened in their life. For example, in the book Beastly the main character is popular and has everything he wants but isn t able to share the fact that he won class president because his father isn t ever there for him. But because he is so selfish he is turned into a beast and the only way to change back is to have someone fall in love with him not by looks but what is on the inside. He was always sad and depressed because he wasn t able to find someone that would love him for who he really is, but when he finds someone he shares a connection with her and begins to express happiness. This book is a perfect example as to why human relationships equal happiness. Happiness is only experienced when you share it with others around you. You re family, friends, significant others, and even in books, show how happiness can only be achieved when you share it. Like Chris ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Stereotype For A United States Senator The stereotype for a United States Senator is often the same stereotype associated with the Republican Party: wealthy, white, older male. While Senator Elizabeth Warren is not a spring chicken and is white, that is where the similarities end. The following information is from Elizabeth Warren (2015). Senator Warren came from a struggling middle class family, the youngest of four. Her father suffered from a heart attack and the family began to accumulate medical bills. Warren started working at the age of 13 to help pay the bills. Graduating high school at the age of 16, Warren attended George Washington University on a full ride debate scholarship, a skill she would use periodically throughout her life. Graduating the University of Houston with a speech pathology degree she became the first person in her family to graduate college. After two children, a divorce and earning her law degree Warren began to develop an interest in bankruptcy and how it particularly plagued middle class families. Thanks to this interest and a tap from Senator Harry Reid, Warren chaired the Congressional Oversight Panel in 2008. Warren and the panel investigated the financial crisis as well as the banks that contributed to the economic downfall. Three years later Warren designed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect consumers from signing risky loans and to watch the credit bureaus. Ancient Indi The Ancient Indian Civilization Kevin Maxim Mr. Ball 8th Grade Social Studies E Block 6 November 2015 Ancient India The ancient Indians were highly influenced by the Ganges river, in fact that was one of the reasons they stayed around so long. This river gave them fertile soil, and also played a big role in their religious practices. The ancient Indian civilization lasted from 3300 BC to 1500 BC. (Kokila) Ancient India had very broad social pyramid requirements and the classes were servants, farmers, warriors and king, and the highest class which was above the king. If it were not for the Ganges River or any other natural resource in the Indus Valley the ancient Indian civilization would not have survived very long. The Ganges River is also sometimes referred to as the Ganga River, and it played a big part in the survival of ancient India. Since it is known to be a symbol of the goddess Ganga, the Ganga River also influenced the religious beliefs of ancient India. It was believed by Hindus to be holy water and if you swam in it you would be forgiven for all of your sins. (Ganga River) This river gave them fertile soil to grow crops on, and without it the ancient Indian civilization would never have succeeded because they could not have gone anywhere to grow crops and. • 15. The Six Day War And Its Impact On Arab Nations The six day war can go down in history as one of the worst wars between Israel and one or more Arab countries. The six day war heavily impacted Israel and the participating Arab countries in many ways. Israeli and Arab relations have never been good, even before Israel was declared an independent state in 1948. The six day war should not be considered a new war based on its impact, rather it should be considered as a continuation of a constant war between Israel and its surrounding Arab neighbors. A factor that has always played a major part in instigating a conflict between Israel and its Arab neighbors is the refusal and rejection of the Arab leadership to indentify Israel as the homeland of the Jewish people. The war began with all surrounding Arab countries lining up along each border ready to try and wipe Israel out using air attacks, as well as ground attacks. The Six Day War concluded with an evident victory in favor of the Israelis, which to some is surprising due to the overwhelming force of the three militaries, which were ganging up on one small country. The casualty numbers ended up in favor of the Israeli s who only lost somewhere near 700 people with 2,500 injured, while, Egypt lost 15,000 people and had 5,600 taken as prisoners, Jordan lost close to 6,000 people and Syria suffered somewhere close to 1,000 casualties (Knesset). The Issue of Palestinian Refugees Right of Return The Issue of Right of Return of the Palestinian Refugees The problem is that Israelis and Palestinians are divided over the more than 4 million Palestinian refugees who insist on returning to the homes that they lost during the 1948 and later during the 6 Day War in 1967. Palestinians claim that these were their homes and they have a right to return to them Israelis, on the other hand, generally, find the idea of such an exponential return of Palestinians to the heart of Israel frightening since it may override the ratio of balance of Palestinians to Israelis as well as importing possible terrorism (e.g. Quandt, 2005) The refuge problem first initiated with the 1948 War Which Israelis dub the War of Independence and Palestinians call the Nakba when some 700,000 Arab residents (85%) left their home, some voluntarily, others forced, finding refuge in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and the Gaza Strip, which was then administered by Egypt. Others were left homeless in Israel. (Brynen, 2007) whilst the Six Day War caused a further flight of 280,000 to 325,000 Palestinians from Israeli won territory. The Oslo Accords in 1993, negotiated by the EU, Israel, and the US, recognized a Palestinian state under the Fatah party (led by Yasser Arafat) and established that the Palestinian refugees would be controlled by this rule. • 17. The Demonstration Of Leadership By Craig Johnson Essay Demonstration of Leadership Craig Johnson wrote an article in November 2008 to evaluate the most controversial tenure of Carly Fiorina, the former Chief Executive Officer of Hewlett Packard (HP), using the ethical leadership construct. In the article, Johnson generates several questions that relate to leadership and management practices. The evaluation of HP s former Chief Executive Officer is influenced by the fact that the company experienced a decline in productivity within a short period after the CEO entered the organization. Actually, Fiorina entered a largely successful firm and introduced significant changes within a short time duration, which had considerable impacts on the firm s operations. The dramatic changes that were introduced within a short time culminated in the decline of the value of the company s stock within five years and the eventual unceremonious removal of the CEO. This paper provides a response to the article through examining how it demonstrates leadership. Analysis and Discussion As previously mentioned, the article by Craig Johnson examines the rise and fall of Carly Fiorina, HP s former Chief Executive Officer who was unceremoniously removed following the tremendous impact that her dramatic changes had on the firm s productivity and success. At the turn of the millennium, Carleton Fiorina was the most powerful businesswoman in the United States who rose quickly through the ranks at AT T and Lucent Technologies (Johnson, 2008, p.188). ... Whether through becoming too large for their own good, being ruled by a series of out of touch men, falling behind technologically, having too many enemies, succumbing to civil war, or a combination: no country is safe. The Russia of 1910 was in atremendously horrible situation. She had all of these problems. Russia would not have existed by 1920 were it not for Vladimir Ilich Lenin, the only man capable of saving the failing nation. Russia in 1910 was a very backwards country. From 1897 to 1917, he traveled all over Europe writing propaganda, organizing strikes, and encouraging revolution among the working class, especially in Russia (Lenin, V.I. 191). Lenin knew what he wanted, knew how to get it, and was willing to wait. During World War I, the time was right and Lenin was the man. Czar Nicholas II remained totally focused on winning the war, and did not hesitate before committing more men and supplies to the war effort(Haney 65). But for an already starving country, every train that brought supplies to the front could not also be bringing food to peasants. With public sentiment and even the Czar s own army against him, Nicholas abdicated the throne in March of 1917 (69). A government by soviets (councils) was instated, but did not last long. After that, Alexander Kerensky seized power. In November, Lenin and his Bolsheviks, with help from armed citizens, stopped the revolving door. They took over St. Petersburg (then Petrograd) and later captured Moscow, meeting little resistance along the way (Jantzen 613). Female priests and the gender inequality within the Catholic Church From the rampant persecution of science and inquiry during the Age of Enlightenment, to the condemnation of abortion and the use of contraceptives in the most HIV/AIDS ridden regions of Africa today, the Catholic Church has nearly always been the thorn in the side of progressive ideas, movements, organizations, and institutions. Today the Catholic Church remains one of the largest religious entities on the planet, with nineteen percent of the world s population and a half of all Christians adhering to its religious doctrines ( Catholic Desires for Change ). Catholicism is unique among Christian secs for its incredibly long history and staunch traditionalism. The church structure has remained almost unchanged since the time of the Roman Empire, and its doctrines are slow evolving at best. The Catholic Church only recently amended its stance on the heliocentric nature of the solar system, when in nineteen ninety two Pope John Paul II exonerated Galileo Galilei s crimes of heresy, three centuries after the man s death (Cowell, 1992). As many western institutions begin to diversify their gender and ethnic makeup, the Catholic Church has remained almost devoid of female participation in all positions of authority and significance.
