3. WHAT ARE PENTAVALENT VACCINES?
A Pentavalent Vaccine is a combined vaccine with FIVE individual vaccines
conjugated into one, to provide protection to a child against five potentially life
threatening diseases-
1. Diphtheria

3. Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
4. Hepatitis B
5. Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)

4. COMPONENTS OF A PENTAVALENT
VACCINE
1. Diphtheria Toxoid: This component contains inactivated toxins produced by
Corynebacterium diphtheriae bacteria. It stimulated an immune response
against diphtheria, a bacterial infection that can lead to severe respiratory and
and systemic symptoms.
2. Tetanus Toxoid: This component consists of inactivated toxins produced by
Clostridium tetani bacteria. It produces immunity against tetanus, a
