This report summarizes an experiment on establishing a peer-to-peer connection between two PCs. The experiment used two PCs connected by a copper crossover cable. IP addresses were configured on both PCs. Unlike the client-server model, peer-to-peer networking allows each connected system to both request and provide services, functioning as both client and server. Most peer-to-peer applications focus on media sharing, though the technology also enables anonymous routing, distributed storage, and other functions.
