Marketing Strategy Of Domino s Pizza
Domino s Pizza: A strategy to enter the Czech food service market
Introduction
Domino s Pizza is among America s favourite pizza chains and, although it ranked below well
known chains such as Papa John s and Pizza Ranch, the company still managed to have a slightly
higher loyalty score than its closest competitor Pizza Hut. Founded in 1960 by Tom Monaghan
and his brother James in the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan, Domino s experience a rapid growth and
open its first international restaurant in the early eighties and reached the number of more than
1000 stores worldwide at the end of Nineties; the aim of the company, indeed, is the constant
growth, as it is declared in the mission statement: we want to be the number one . Almost half of
Domino s Pizza stores are located in the United States where consumers spend around $25 billion
each year on pizza delivery and take away (monthly visitors to the chain have been increasing for
at least five years, reaching 21 million in the spring of 2016) ... Show more content on

The company continued to invest in technology that enhances the convenience in ordering,
preparation, and delivery, all aspects of the modern foodservice experience that consumers in all
world markets increasingly prefer; their vision, in fact, is to be the best pizza delivery in the
world . Pizza sales in 2014 2015 were buoyed by strong growth in Italy, India, Argentina, Brazil,
the UK and the US. Domino s Pizza has unlocked this potential in India, a key growth market and
Domino s largest international market to date, but has struggled to find similar success in China
and Brazil, where it trails chief competitor Pizza Hut. Domino s specifically leads the world in
HDTA (Home Delivery and Takeaway) with 9.4% of the global market in 2015 and 20.9% of
chained operators. This can be attributed to the company s domestic performance in the US, where
it reaps huge profits from supplying its many

Ttc s Subway System
INTRODUCTION
This report uses operations research methods to prioritize the installation of transit accessibility
upgrades on the Toronto Transit Commission subway system.
The distance people with mobility challenges must travel to accessible stations was minimized
during incremental system improvements using nonlinear programming with binary decision
variables. The process was performed using Excel s Solver feature, and based on TTC data and
distance data scraped from Google Maps using the gmapsdistance R package. The result was a list
prioritizing the 30 stations currently without wheelchair accessibility.
7.2% of Canadians experience mobility limitations in their day to lives

SOLUTION EVALUATION
Excel s solver function was used to walk through all meaningful values for the resource constraint,
yielding a satisficing prioritized project schedule. The decrease in the objective function looks
approximately exponential, typical of a Pareto distribution. The formulation of the problem allows
low direct cost stations to be prioritized in the case that they lower the cost of adjacent stations. The
full prioritized schedule is shown in Table 2. These results show that improvements at
Islington, Coxwell, College, Sherbourne, Runnymede, and Rosedale would have indirect benefits
that make improvements more valuable than present day contributions to the objective function
suggest. Conversely, while those indirect benefits result in other improvements having lower than
expected utility. The stations affected are Royal York, Woodbine, Wellesley, High Park,
Greenwood, Castle
Frank, and Summerhill. Some of these stations are still high priority, such as Royal
York, but improvements will be less effective than expected based on ridership.
When comparing the plan the TTC currently has regarding the order of station to be upgraded with
accessible entrances is different when compared to the

Reasons For Delaying Summer Born Children
In England and a significant number of other countries, class structure in the education system
means the cohort of children placed in a year group together could differ greatly in age. Children
born in the summer months can be up to nearly a year younger than their autumn born counterparts.
At aged four, this potential year significantly compromises a fraction of the children s lives and
therefore means summerborn children may be behind in terms of development hindering their
academic ability in comparison to their older counterparts. Whilst there is ongoing research into the
topic, presently there are many conflicting views on whether delaying summer born children s
entrance to primary schoolwould be beneficial stemming from the belief that they are
disadvantaged. Whilst there is evidence to prove that they perform consistently worse academically
on tests (Daniels et al., 2000), there are also findings to suggest that it is not their month of birth
that leads to potential shortcomings in terms of academic achievement.
Research into academic capability crucially highlights the inequalities between children with a
summer birthday and their older, autumn born peers, which supports the argument that summer born
children should delay their year of entrance to primary school. Evidence shows that autumn born
children generally perform better academically in comparison to their younger spring born
counterparts (born January to April) who in turn outperform summer born children

How The Corrupt Church In The Canterbury Tales
In The Canterbury Tales, the characters are on a pilgrimage to Sir Thomas Beckett s grave;
although many of these pilgrims are seemingly pious members of the church, many of these men
and women are creating a new religion which is corrupt from the beginning due to lying, cheating,
and leaders who do not practice the religion which they teach. These corrupt religious leaders who
are mentioned in The Canterbury Talesinclude; the Monk, the Friar, the Prioress, and the Pardoner.
Although, there are many corrupt church members, Chaucer does include some good church
members such as the Parson and his brother, the Plowman. Unlike the other church members, these
pilgrims care for the sick and the poor, and they are not involved in the fake ornateness of the
Catholic church. Many of the corrupt members of the church are only religious leaders due to the
money, and the fact that members of the church are considered part of the upper class. Due to all of
this corruption that Chaucer mentions, it is likely that he believed that corruption was the rule,
rather than it being the exception to the rule.

Some people that are honest members of the church include the Parson, and the Plowman. The
Parson was a poor man, but he was rich in the thoughts of Christ. Rather than condeming his
parshioners, if they were unable to pay their tithes; the Parson would give them some of his
money to help them. Furthermore, he never neglected his parshioners, in either rain or horrid
weather he would go and preach to his parshioners. Whatever his message was he preached it and
then he practiced it. This Parson believed that it is impossible to lead parshioners if the parson is
full of sins. Besides the Parson, the other uncorrupt pilgrim was the Plowman. He devoted his
entire life to God, and helped his neighbors as God had

French Revolution Constitutional Church
Immediately, a proposal was made to halt the taking of solemn vows. This development associated
the Church with the scheming and corruption that had been featured in anticlerical literature of the
eighteenth century, as well as prepared the way for the closure of France s monasteries and the
departure of their inhabitants. The Assembly hoped that the sale of monasteries and their contents
would help to stabilize the nation s finances. Thousands of letters of protest met the
announcements; the new French state had not only taken control of the revenue and property of the
Church, but also seemed to be redefining the boundaries between church and state. The Assembly
became charged with the financial administration of the Church, and took the... Show more content

Its early losses cast further suspicion on refractory clergymen and their followers, now suspected of
conspiring with the enemy. The collapse of the monarchy on August 10 provided an added impetus
for the destruction of anything associated with the ancien rГ©gime. Thus, the Assembly suppressed
all remaining religious orders, even those staffing schools and hospitals, and ordered that the
remaining non jurors to leave, or to be arrested and deported. Suspicion furthered when news
arrived that the fortress town had fallen to the allied Prussian forces, and Parisians believed that
imprisoned counter revolutions were preparing to ally themselves with the enemy. Such paranoia
led to an outbreak of preventative justice when Parisians descended on the city s prison,
slaughtering over a thousand prisoners in what would later be known as the September Massacres.
Such violence made clear the distrust that would prevent any reconciliation between the Church and

Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational...
When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background
information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the
bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards
planning with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students educational
experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both
meaningful and specific to the students educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that
teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade level
standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lessonwith differentiation in
mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in
mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and
product. Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand
the concept that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any
extra time for me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness
in mind. With 50 plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means
that I have to use my pre assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who
can be pushed a little further to extend

Redlands Wind Ensemble
The University of Redlands Wind Ensemble, directed by Eddie R. Smith, put on a show at the
Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 16th. Walking into the monumental Chapel I was unsure
of what to expect. As I walked in I saw the amazing artwork around, the high ceilings, and a wide
variety of instruments scattered on different levels of the stage. On the first level there were many
small hand held instruments such as flutes and clarinets, on the second there were a wide variety of
brass instruments, and finally in the last row were the percussion instruments. Knowing that it was
a wind ensemble and not a traditional orchestra like the ones we have been made familiar with
during this course, I was unsure of what to expect. I thought that... Show more content on

This song seemed to require the most work from the performers as it used a wide range of
dynamics, pitches, and tempo. The last song of the evening, and probably my favorite (not just
because it was the last), was Folk Dances . This song, just like the first, had a very festive feel to
it. The upbeat tempo, lead by the flutes and clarinets, made the song very enjoyable to hear and
also had a very happy feel to it, which, in my mind, made it a very appropriate closer. The song
started with a great tempo but a relatively soft dynamic. This quickly changed about half way
through the song when the dynamics picked up. The loud dynamics with the fast tempo at the end
of the song had a very grandiose sound and left the audience with a great taste in their mouths.
Overall, this was a very good performance. The audience applauded greatly at the end as parents
stood proudly and embraced their sons and daughters. I thought that it was well put together and
was very interesting. I enjoyed the music more than I thought I would and have the upmost of
respect for the University of Redlands Wind

Threat To The Mojave Desert
A current threat to the Mojave desert is its renewable energy sources, or windmills as people
most know them as. About 50,000 acres of desert tortoise habitat has been built over, mostly in
California. Dunes which house many Mojave Fringe toed lizards have been impacted, as well as
windmills that have been built in the way of golden eagle habitats. This causes many collision
between the birds, a threat that many of them face. Many of these renewable energy sources
people are able to see heading down to Palm Springs or getting on the freeway to LA. A large area
of the desert was plowed and flattened out for solar panels destroying many homes for animals.
More and more windmills are also being put up as well with all the road work going on, more

Angostura Value Chain Analysis

VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS
Value chain was first crafted by Michael Porter in his book Competitive Advantage Creating and
Sustaining Superior Performance (1985), to illustrate how customer value accumulates along a
chain of activities that lead to an end product or service.
The value chain analysis describes the activities an organisation performs and links them to the
organization competitive position. Porter further states, value chain evaluates which value each
particular activity adds to the organisation products or services.
John E Gamble, Crafting and Executing Strategy 2012 states, the various activities a company

Cultural Event Analysis
A culture event I attended was a Christmas Holiday Parade. I choose this event because this holiday
can be interpreted in multiple different ways throughout the world. Differing cultures, societies,
family traditions, and religion, are all factors on how each person celebrates this particular cultural
holiday. ChristmasDay is a huge occasion that is acknowledged and honored by many every year.
Although it may be interpreted differently, the celebrations and festivities are seen all around the
world. Christmas is a yearly celebration inspired by the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th.
Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an
exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various
Christmas decorations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas). Other customs for more religious
cultures include attending church on Christmas Eve and observing various parades starting days
for the holiday. Modern decorations include Christmas lights, wreaths, mistletoes hanging, and
decorated Christmas trees with lights and ornaments. The traditional colors of Christmas
decorations are red, green, and gold (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas, Decorations). Famous
figures such as Santa Claus, whose name can be traced back to the Dutch culture meaning Saint
Nicholas, is a popular American gift giving icon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas, Gift

Social Media Impact On Body Image
The Impact of Social Media on Body Image As technology editing tools have become even more
prevalent, many feel the need to excessively use photoshop before they share an image online. In
a pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look,
social media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last
decade, social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to
communicate, connect, and share. Thus, there have been many debates and discussions on
whether the media has a positive or a negative impact on the way an individual perceives him or
herself. As the rapid growth of smartphone usage among adolescents and adults has increased,
social media has become an essential part of one s daily life. In today s society, when most
adolescents and adults turn on their smartphones, often times, the first thing they will refer to is
a social media site. It has become a place where they are exposed to news, images, and
expectations. Often times, these images, ideals, and expectations are ingrained in their brain and
bombarded with what is considered to be beautiful. Moreover, these unrealistic standards will
often lead to a form of comparison, influencing them to take extreme measures. Although social
media serves as a platform where people can connect, communicate, and share, it has a negative
impact on one s body image, because it can lead to a lack of self confidence and severe

Modern Birth Control And Gender Roles Essay
Before the introduction of modern birth control, gender roles emphasized the responsibility of
women to conceive and raise children. Although this began to change in the in the mid twentieth
century, with the introduction of the first hormonal birth control pill, Enovid, taking place in 1960,
it was not readily accessible during that time period (Buttar and Seward, 2009, p. 1 3). This did not
change during the time period immediately following the introduction either; five years after the
introduction of Enovid, there was still controversy surrounding the use of contraceptives. In the
Supreme Court case of Griswold v. Connecticut, the legality of birth controlon the market was
debated, and the case concluded with the allowance of hormonal contraceptives, but it was limited
to married couples only under the right of marital privacy (George and Lewis, 2016, p. 1). The
controversy and secrecy that surrounded the use of birth control shortly after its introduction
indicates that although it was certainly present and used in society during this time period, it still
carried the negative social connotations of the past, which prevented it from being socially
normalized. In contrast, the standardization of birth control in society took place decades later,
from approximately the 1990 to 2010s.
In contemporary American society, birth control has become more readily accessible to women,
which is indicated by the increased usage of contraception in society. The number of birth

Filial Piety In Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
Timeless was the best way to describe the traditions past down through Chinese culture: these
traditions are based off the morals of devotion and sacrifice. The Chinese culture values the many
aspects of a person s character toward his or her family. The Chinese believe that a person must
respect his or her elders and parents to the highest degree, a term called filial piety. In The Joy Luck
Club, the readers sees an example of filial piety when Lindo Jong portrays self sacrifice when she
has to manage with her new familyand mother in law. Throughout the novel, Amy Tan exposes the
issues in Chinese Culture when faced with modernization and integration of cultures. The issue is
between the mothers and their daughters when the daughters do not agree about the same value of

The flaws of filial piety are exposed when the characters see they are not being treated equally and
their previous beliefs do not hold weight in their new society. The hope of the mothers is for their

the American society but also to follow the values of their Chinese heritage. The daughters are

American ideas. After the daughters go against their parents teachings, they eventually remember
the significances of family and follow their mothers will. After Jin Mei Woo goes to Chinashe sees

Economic Evaluation Essay
The change in health profiles of the population and the evolution of medical technology have made
more explicit the gap between what medicine can do and what is economically feasible (Fuchs,
2000). Resources to satisfy needs are scarce and every society must decide how better to allocate
the scarce resource among the different alternative uses. Economicstries to address the normative
question of which allocation of resources is best for the society. The answer to such question
depends crucially on the objective being pursued. When comparing different alternatives, under the
classical assumptions of competitive markets (the Arrow Debreu economy) and Pareto efficiency, a

This is the so called Hicks Kaldor criterion, which allows making judgements about policies
without making inter personal comparisons. However, there are two problems with this criterion:
marginal utility of income must be the same across individuals and it may be the case that a
movement back to the original allocation increase welfare, so it would be impossible to define
which allocation is better. Also, the information that would be needed to collect makes the
application of this criterion quite infeasible.
This is the theoretical basis for many cost benefit studies in health care that rely on methods like
contingent valuation to measure benefits from health care interventions. If this is the theoretical
basis for cost benefit analysis, it means the acceptance of Pareto optimality concept and its related
distributional implications. Individual utility is what is being maximised and individuals are
assumed to be the best judges of their own welfare.
Given the limitations of the welfarist approach, some have argued to rely on explicit welfare
functions to aggregate individuals preferences and explicitly address the issues of distribution, but
as Arrow demonstrated, it is impossible to aggregate individual preferences in a coherent way.

Representation Of Teenagers And Stereotypes That Are...
FOA Representation of teenagers rebelliousness and the stereotypes that are associated with
them through the media? Intro Teenagers. They re emotional, they re smelly and they have a
reputation for being disruptive dysfunctional members of society. By definition A teenager, or
teen, is a young person whose age falls within the range from 13 19. They are called teenagers
because their age number ends with teen . Today Grady and I will be adressing the
represenatation of teenagers in the media and how and why they are percieved the way they are.
All teens go through similar phases. The need for independence, a separate identity, testing
authority. It s part of growing up; it s also linked to developmental changes in the brain that will
eventually help them become analytical adults. But today s teens get an extra whammy, social
pressures come earlier than in previous generations. Stereotypes (representations lead to
stereotypes?) (Media stereotypes teenagers) Stereotypes are generalizations about a group of
people whereby we attribute a defined set of characteristics to this group. These classifications
can be positive or negative, such as when various nationalities are stereotyped as friendly or

classification has associations, scripts and so on that we use to interpret what they are saying,

Chemical Reactivity Lab Report
One discrepancy that has to be explained would be for Part F(Chemical Reactivity
Of Some Representative Elements), question 3 is we failed to obtain a result because time ran out
before we could complete the experiment. However, based on my research, the calcium hydroxide
salt would be more soluble than the magnesium hydroxide salt because the calcium is more reactive
than magnesium. This is because calcium has 20 electrons thus, an electronic configuration of
2.8.8.2. However, magnesium has 12 electrons thus, an electronic configuration of 2.8.2 . In other
words, calcium has four electron shells but magnesium has three making it easier for calcium to

Thus, Chlorine would be the most electronegative, followed by Bromine and finally Iodine. Plus,
a higher halogen will be able to displace a lower halogen from its halide solution. The next
concept is the reaction between an alkali metal and water, specifically sodium metal and water.
Before the reaction, the sodium metal was stored in kerosene to prevent it from reacting with
the moisture or oxygen that is in the air. This is because sodium is a very reactive metal and will
easily react with the moisture present in the air to form sodium hydroxide. This is an extremely
strong exothermic reaction and a lot of heat is generated. Moving on, when sodium is placed into
a test tube containing water and phenolphtalein, a vigorous reaction takes place where sodium
hydroxide along with hydrogen gas is formed. The presence of the sodium hydroxide can
confirmed by the change in color of the phenolpthalein to pink while the presence of the hydrogen
gas can be confirmed by placing a glowing wooden splinter into the test tube and hearing a pop
sound.
The last concept is comparing the reactivity of metals specifically magnesium and

The Role Of Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander People
The Stolen Generations is a term used to describe the actions of which Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander people, mostly children, were taken away from their families between the 1890 s
and the 1970 s (Korff, 2014). Children were taken to institutions or adopted by non Indigenous
families and most never saw their families again. In the early 1900 s the Australian public was
persuaded into believing Aboriginal children were deprived, mistreated and at risk in their own
communities. People believed that Aboriginal children would receive a better education, a more
loving and caring family and a more civilised upbringing if adopted by white families or
government institutions. In reality Aboriginal children were being removed so that they... Show

McGarry, a member of the Parliament of New South Wales, objected to the Aborigines
Protection Amending Act 1915. The Act enabled the Aborigines Protection Board to remove
Aboriginal children from their parents without having to establish that they were in any way
neglected or mistreated (McKeich, 2006). McGarry described this policy as stealing the child
away from its parents. In 1997, the Bringing Them Home report was released. The report was
based on findings from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission s National
Inquiry into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families
(McKeich, 2006). The enquiry found that many cases of forcible child removal occurred around
the country. After the release of the report, the media began using the term The Stolen
Generations to describe the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who shared their
stories. The report did not refer to the term The Stolen Generations but rather referred to it as
forcible removal policies (McKeich, 2006). Very few records of the children that were taken and
is estimated that between 1883 and 1969 more than 6,200 children were stolen in NSW alone

first, second or third generation member of The Stolen Generations . In 2008, Australian Prime

A Speech On Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is a term of two words: the first word is Nano and derives from the Greek word
Nanos and it means Dwarf or something very small. The second word is Technology and it
means applied application of knowledge in a certain field. So nanotechnology is the technology
of very small substances, and it specializes in treating the substance on the Nano measure to
produce new, useful, and unique resultants in its properties [22 23].The Nano is a unique
measuring unit and from the physical and mathematical point of view, the Nano equals one part
of a billion of the measured unit. The nanometer (nm) equals a part of a billion part of a meter.

By changing the properties of the liquid phase (e.g. concentration, temperature, pH) adsorbed
species can be released from the surface and transferred back into the liquid phase. This reverse
process is referred to as desorption. Since adsorption is a surface process, the surface area is a key
quality parameter of adsorbents.
Engineering adsorbents are typically highly porous material with surface area in the range
between 102 and 103 m2 /g. Their porosity allows realizing such large surfaces as internal
surfaces constituted by the pore walls. In contrast, the external surface is typically below 1 m2 /g
and therefore of minor relevance. As an example, the external surface of powdered activated
carbon with a particle density of 0.6 g/cm3 and a particle radius of 0.02 mm is only 0.25 m2 /g.
However, adsorption is one of the promising methods to remove the dye pollutants from aqueous

The fictional life and death of a twelve year old little boy named Robert is vividly articulated in
this moving tale by Thomas Wolfe. The reader learns of the boy s life through four well
developed points of view. The reader s first glimpse into Robert s character is expressed through a
third person narrative. This section takes place on a particularly important afternoon in the boys life.
The second and third views are memories of the child, through the eyes of his mother and sister.
His mother paints the picture of an extraordinary child whom she loved dearly and his sister
illustrates the love that the boy had for others. Finally, an account from the narrator is given in the
ending. It is in the last section of this work that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Sherman Burned Georgia To The Ground
The North takes a lead with Sherman behind it all. On February 17, 1865 Sherman captures
South Carolina leading him up to burn Georgia to the ground. From Atlanta to Savannah,
Sherman covers 450 miles in 50 days leaving a 40 by 50 mile wide path of destruction. Some
people refer to it as Sherman s March To The Sea . William Sherman becomes the terror of the
South as he burns everything in his path. William Sherman believed that capturing Georgia would
be effective and psychological as fighting. Sherman then has his troops circle Atlanta in July,
forcing Hood to abandon Georgia on September 1, 1864. He captures Georgia the next day which
was a major part of Sherman s March Towards Sea because Atlanta had railroads and was the
industrial center of Georgia. Another reason Sherman burned Georgia to the ground is because

Introduction
Diffusion is defined as the movement of molecules or ions from an area of a higher concentration
to an area where they are in lower concentration. The driving force for diffusion is kinetic energy.
The speed of diffusion is influenced by the molecular, temperature, bumping bouncing off each
other creating equilibrium in the molecules. The atoms molecules are the building blocks of cells.
Cells have selectively permeable membranes that only allow the movement of certain solutes or
solutions. Diffusion is key to the functions in a cell. Diffusion helps to transport nutrients to cells in
the body or plants. Water is an example of this movement like absorption of water into roots.
Osmosis is the diffusion of a solvent or movement of water through semi permeable membrane
from a region of higher water or solvent into a potential lower region of water (hypertonic solute to
a region of lower water potential (hypertonic solute) to a region of lower water potential (hypertonic

Spread Of Deforestation And Wildfires In The Amazon
Deforestation and Wildfires
When it comes to deforestation, the paving of the Trans Amazonian highway is a two sided coin.
While the increased accessibility could lead to more effective environmental protection, it may also
permit more illegal logging. When the highway was first constructed, spells of deforestation lead to
25,000 square kilometers of forest clear cut per year (that s the size of New Jersey, every year).
95% of this deforestation happened within 7 kilometers of a road (Frasier 2014). In Madre de Dios,
before the road was paved, tall trees used to line the highway. Now, the forest is cut back half a
kilometer on both sides. Tree damage in the Xingu region were 4 times higher than average in

optimal use; the other 12 GB are set aside for content which can only be purchased from Barnes

Views on the permanence of the soul vary throughout religious tradition as well. While some view it

Hinduism believes that realizing the soul is the embodiment of Brahman is essential to being
released from the cycle of rebirth, Samsara. Hindus understand that the soul, atman, is permanent
and only inhabits a physical shell which dies and passes the soul on to the next mortal shell, which
can be better or worse than the previous depending on karma. With that said, Hindus believe in
rebirth until one realizes the ultimate divine at which point they would be free from the
punarjanma, the transmigration of the soul, liberating their souls to achieve moksha. Buddhism, on
the other hand, challenges Atman with the belief in Anatman, which is non self. Buddhists believe
that the world is constantly changing, nullifying the concept of the permanent soul, Atman. There
is no reason the soul remains unchanged in a perpetually changing environment. Anatman is the
idea of no permanent soul 3. A common misconception is that Anatman means people have no soul.
In reality it describes the constant change of the soul during its time on earth. Buddhism holds that
while there is no soul, the five elements that make up an individual orient themselves to form a new
individual. With each cycle of rebirth, these aggregates, which include mind, consciousness, body,
impulse, and feeling, will combine differently to form distinct individuals 4. While Buddhists

Impressionism And Influence In Art In The 19th And 20th...
As art practices evolved during the 19th and 20th centuries, the elite of society became an object
of criticism and obscurity as subject matter, whereas the working class began to appear in
artworks in a more open and positive light. This shift in artworks depicting the working class in
favor of aristocracy is clear in the analysis of three different periods, with the works of three
different artists: Jean François Millet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Vera Mukhina. Millet depicts
the working class forthright in his works, such as The Gleaners (1857); he focuses on the futility of
labor and the conditions of the emerging middle classin reaction to the extravagance and leisure of
the aristocracy around him. Renoir utilizes an Impressionistic style to depict the working class
neighborhood and surroundings he lives in; in paintings such as Luncheon of the Boating Party
(1881), he exposes the leisurely lifestyle of the working class and their integration into the rest
of society. The working class could now intermix with the aristocracy in a way that had never
before been plausible. Mukhina, however, like other Socialist Realist artists, represents the
working class in her sculpture Worker and Collective Farm Girl (1937) as a powerful and driving
force; in the piece, noticeably absent is any reference to the elite in society. Marking a great
departure from earlier representations of the working class, Mukhina places the worker front and
center in a positive light. Together, these

The Decision Put Forward By Robert S. Kaplan
In the following essay I will be looking at the arguments put forward by Robert S. Kaplan and
others on why management accounting techniques had lost their relevance to organisations by the
1980s. Since the 1980s new management accounting techniques have been developed, I will be
looking at two recent developments in management accounting and assessing whether they have
sufficiently addressed the concerns raised by Kaplan and if they have improved the usefulness of
management accounting in organisations. Kaplan and Johnson believe that the origin of modern
management accounting is traced to the emergence of managed, hierarchal businesses in the
early 19th century. The need for planning and control arose in textile mills where cost of product
was allocated to worker productivity, raw material use and plant layout. It was because of the
factory locations being so far away for the head offices that an information system was required to
be used as a judge of efficiency of the factory workers. The rapid growth of railroads established
performance measures in the form of cost per ton mile, cost per passenger per mile and ratio of
operating expenses to revenue (Waweru, 2010). Shortly afterwards the mass production of
steelworks introduced direct cost measures and standard costing. From this we can see that
management accounting evolved as a tool to motivate and evaluate the efficiency/effectiveness of
internal processes. Kaplan and Johnson didn t believe that management accounting

these problems, are the growing concerns of the local and state officials about the threats made
relating to the protection of computer infrastructures at the federal level. Local officers are not
having the capacity or understanding of computer crimes necessary to properly investigate offenses
such as computer and electric crimes and fraud and theft crimes by digital technology. (Taylor,
2011) Having education and appropriate training is crucial in the investigation process to gain an
upper hand in fighting digital crime. In addition, state and local law enforcement expressed

Listeria Monocytogenes
Description
Listeria monocytogenes is a gram positive motile facultative anaerobe that inhabits a variety of
environments. Using selective media it can be readily isolated from soil, water, vegetation and
processed products, including ready to eat products designated for human consumption (Graves et
al., 1992). The bacterium was named monocytogenes because one distinguish characteristic of
infection in rabbits, which was the production of monocytosis in blood (Shuin et al., 1982).
L. monocytogenes is phychrophilic, has a temperature for growth of 0В°C to 45В°C (Barbosa et
al., 1994), and enjoys a competitive advantage against other gram positive and gram negative
microorganisms in cold environments, such as refrigerators. Recent ... Show more content on

monocytogenes. Pasteurization effectively inactivates this organism. However, fluid milk that is
contaminated after pasteurization and stored under refrigeration may achieve very high populations
of L. monocytogenes after one week; Furthermore, temperature abuse may enhance the
multiplication of bacterial cells. L. monocytogenes can also be found in cheese because of its
relative hardiness to temperature fluctuations, ability to multiply at refrigeration temperature and
salt tolerance. During manufacturing process, L. monocytogenes is primarily concentrate in the
cheese curd, with only a very small portion of cells appearing in the whey. Then, during ripening
of the cheese, the numbers of cells may increase (Camembert), decrease gradually (Colby or
cheddar), or decrease rapidly (blue cheese) and then stabilize. In addition, cooked and ready to eat
meat and poultry products have been implicated as the source of sporadic and epidemic listeriosis
on several occasions in North America and Europe (Schwartz et al., 1989). L. monocytogenes
attaches strongly to the surface of raw meats and is difficult to remove or inactivate. The
multiplication in meat and poultry depends on the type of meat, pH, and the type of cell
populations of competitive flora (Farber et al., 1999). However, it has been shown that poultry
supports the growth of L. monocytogenes better than other meats. Furthermore, the incidence of L.
monocytogenes in ready to eat products has become

Comedy in Don Quixote
Q.2 Wherein lies the comedy in part one of Don Quixote?
The story Don Quixote is a burlesque, mock epic of the romances of chivalry, in which Cervantes
teaches the reader the truth by creating laughter that ridicules. Through the protagonist, he succeeds
in satirizing Spain s obsession with the noble knights as being absurdly old fashioned. The
dynamics of the comedy in this story are simple, Don Quixote believes the romances he has read
and strives to live them out, and it is his actions and the situations that he finds himself in during his
adventures that make the reader laugh. We can define comedy as something that entertains the
reader and that makes us want to laugh out loud and Cervantes succeeds in doing this through his
use of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, most of the situations that Don Quixote is placed in during his ridiculous quest
are excellent examples of slapstick comedy. The reader is highly entertained by Don Quixote on
his adventures during which he implicitly believes that he is like the knights in the novels he has
read and so; he logically believes his own fiction. The reader is embarrassed when Don Quixote
decides that by choosing a new name for himself, his horse, his lady and his friends that this will
suffice in making him a knight. Just like he shaped his own appearance, he chooses his name as
Don Quixote de La Mancha and this becomes one of the most prominent jokes of the book. It is
a name that is undignified and pretentious but simultaneously amusing because La Mancha is a
dry, sparsely populated region of Spain, which is exactly what a knight should avoid. The suffix
ote was considered derogatory at that time and it is even funny sounding. We are skeptical from
the very beginning as to whether or not Don Quixote is worthy of the title Don and our suspicions
are confirmed when he fails to assist people in distress like any good knight should. It is highly
entertaining when AndrГ©s specifically asks Don Quixote not to complicate his life with any more

  • 4. Ttc s Subway System INTRODUCTION This report uses operations research methods to prioritize the installation of transit accessibility upgrades on the Toronto Transit Commission subway system. The distance people with mobility challenges must travel to accessible stations was minimized during incremental system improvements using nonlinear programming with binary decision variables. The process was performed using Excel s Solver feature, and based on TTC data and distance data scraped from Google Maps using the gmapsdistance R package. The result was a list prioritizing the 30 stations currently without wheelchair accessibility. 7.2% of Canadians experience mobility limitations in their day to lives (Statistics Canada, 2015), but every day the Toronto Transit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... SOLUTION EVALUATION Excel s solver function was used to walk through all meaningful values for the resource constraint, yielding a satisficing prioritized project schedule. The decrease in the objective function looks approximately exponential, typical of a Pareto distribution. The formulation of the problem allows low direct cost stations to be prioritized in the case that they lower the cost of adjacent stations. The full prioritized schedule is shown in Table 2. These results show that improvements at Islington, Coxwell, College, Sherbourne, Runnymede, and Rosedale would have indirect benefits that make improvements more valuable than present day contributions to the objective function suggest. Conversely, while those indirect benefits result in other improvements having lower than expected utility. The stations affected are Royal York, Woodbine, Wellesley, High Park, Greenwood, Castle Frank, and Summerhill. Some of these stations are still high priority, such as Royal York, but improvements will be less effective than expected based on ridership. • 5. Reasons For Delaying Summer Born Children In England and a significant number of other countries, class structure in the education system means the cohort of children placed in a year group together could differ greatly in age. Children born in the summer months can be up to nearly a year younger than their autumn born counterparts. At aged four, this potential year significantly compromises a fraction of the children s lives and therefore means summerborn children may be behind in terms of development hindering their academic ability in comparison to their older counterparts. Whilst there is ongoing research into the topic, presently there are many conflicting views on whether delaying summer born children s entrance to primary schoolwould be beneficial stemming from the belief that they are disadvantaged. Whilst there is evidence to prove that they perform consistently worse academically on tests (Daniels et al., 2000), there are also findings to suggest that it is not their month of birth that leads to potential shortcomings in terms of academic achievement. Research into academic capability crucially highlights the inequalities between children with a summer birthday and their older, autumn born peers, which supports the argument that summer born children should delay their year of entrance to primary school. Evidence shows that autumn born children generally perform better academically in comparison to their younger spring born counterparts (born January to April) who in turn outperform summer born children ... • 6. How The Corrupt Church In The Canterbury Tales In The Canterbury Tales, the characters are on a pilgrimage to Sir Thomas Beckett s grave; although many of these pilgrims are seemingly pious members of the church, many of these men and women are creating a new religion which is corrupt from the beginning due to lying, cheating, and leaders who do not practice the religion which they teach. These corrupt religious leaders who are mentioned in The Canterbury Talesinclude; the Monk, the Friar, the Prioress, and the Pardoner. Although, there are many corrupt church members, Chaucer does include some good church members such as the Parson and his brother, the Plowman. Unlike the other church members, these pilgrims care for the sick and the poor, and they are not involved in the fake ornateness of the Catholic church. Many of the corrupt members of the church are only religious leaders due to the money, and the fact that members of the church are considered part of the upper class. Due to all of this corruption that Chaucer mentions, it is likely that he believed that corruption was the rule, rather than it being the exception to the rule. Chaucer uses The ... This development associated the Church with the scheming and corruption that had been featured in anticlerical literature of the eighteenth century, as well as prepared the way for the closure of France s monasteries and the departure of their inhabitants. The Assembly hoped that the sale of monasteries and their contents would help to stabilize the nation s finances. Thousands of letters of protest met the announcements; the new French state had not only taken control of the revenue and property of the Church, but also seemed to be redefining the boundaries between church and state. Suspicion furthered when news arrived that the fortress town had fallen to the allied Prussian forces, and Parisians believed that imprisoned counter revolutions were preparing to ally themselves with the enemy. • 8. Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational... When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards planning with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students educational experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both meaningful and specific to the students educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade level standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lessonwith differentiation in mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and product. Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand the concept that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any extra time for me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness in mind. With 50 plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means that I have to use my pre assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who can be pushed a little further to extend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The upbeat tempo, lead by the flutes and clarinets, made the song very enjoyable to hear and also had a very happy feel to it, which, in my mind, made it a very appropriate closer. The song started with a great tempo but a relatively soft dynamic. This quickly changed about half way through the song when the dynamics picked up. The loud dynamics with the fast tempo at the end of the song had a very grandiose sound and left the audience with a great taste in their mouths. Overall, this was a very good performance. Social Media Impact On Body Image The Impact of Social Media on Body Image As technology editing tools have become even more prevalent, many feel the need to excessively use photoshop before they share an image online. In a pervasive world where images of unrealistic standards fuel the media on how one should look, social media has one of the most significant impacts on body dissatisfaction. Throughout the last decade, social media has become one of the most common and favored ways for people to communicate, connect, and share. Thus, there have been many debates and discussions on whether the media has a positive or a negative impact on the way an individual perceives him or herself. As the rapid growth of smartphone usage among adolescents and adults has increased, social media has become an essential part of one s daily life. In today s society, when most adolescents and adults turn on their smartphones, often times, the first thing they will refer to is a social media site. It has become a place where they are exposed to news, images, and expectations. Often times, these images, ideals, and expectations are ingrained in their brain and bombarded with what is considered to be beautiful. Moreover, these unrealistic standards will often lead to a form of comparison, influencing them to take extreme measures. • 18. Modern Birth Control And Gender Roles Essay Before the introduction of modern birth control, gender roles emphasized the responsibility of women to conceive and raise children. Although this began to change in the in the mid twentieth century, with the introduction of the first hormonal birth control pill, Enovid, taking place in 1960, it was not readily accessible during that time period (Buttar and Seward, 2009, p. 1 3). This did not change during the time period immediately following the introduction either; five years after the introduction of Enovid, there was still controversy surrounding the use of contraceptives. In the Supreme Court case of Griswold v. Connecticut, the legality of birth controlon the market was debated, and the case concluded with the allowance of hormonal contraceptives, but it was limited to married couples only under the right of marital privacy (George and Lewis, 2016, p. 1). The controversy and secrecy that surrounded the use of birth control shortly after its introduction indicates that although it was certainly present and used in society during this time period, it still carried the negative social connotations of the past, which prevented it from being socially normalized. In contrast, the standardization of birth control in society took place decades later, from approximately the 1990 to 2010s. In contemporary American society, birth control has become more readily accessible to women, which is indicated by the increased usage of contraception in society. The number of birth ... Economicstries to address the normative question of which allocation of resources is best for the society. The answer to such question depends crucially on the objective being pursued. However, there are two problems with this criterion: marginal utility of income must be the same across individuals and it may be the case that a movement back to the original allocation increase welfare, so it would be impossible to define which allocation is better. Also, the information that would be needed to collect makes the application of this criterion quite infeasible. This is the theoretical basis for many cost benefit studies in health care that rely on methods like contingent valuation to measure benefits from health care interventions. If this is the theoretical basis for cost benefit analysis, it means the acceptance of Pareto optimality concept and its related distributional implications. Individual utility is what is being maximised and individuals are assumed to be the best judges of their own welfare. Given the limitations of the welfarist approach, some have argued to rely on explicit welfare functions to aggregate individuals preferences and explicitly address the issues of distribution, but as Arrow demonstrated, it is impossible to aggregate individual preferences in a coherent way. They re emotional, they re smelly and they have a reputation for being disruptive dysfunctional members of society. Before the reaction, the sodium metal was stored in kerosene to prevent it from reacting with the moisture or oxygen that is in the air. This is because sodium is a very reactive metal and will easily react with the moisture present in the air to form sodium hydroxide. This is an extremely strong exothermic reaction and a lot of heat is generated. Moving on, when sodium is placed into a test tube containing water and phenolphtalein, a vigorous reaction takes place where sodium hydroxide along with hydrogen gas is formed. The presence of the sodium hydroxide can confirmed by the change in color of the phenolpthalein to pink while the presence of the hydrogen gas can be confirmed by placing a glowing wooden splinter into the test tube and hearing a pop sound. The Role Of Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander People The Stolen Generations is a term used to describe the actions of which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, mostly children, were taken away from their families between the 1890 s and the 1970 s (Korff, 2014). Children were taken to institutions or adopted by non Indigenous families and most never saw their families again. In the early 1900 s the Australian public was persuaded into believing Aboriginal children were deprived, mistreated and at risk in their own communities. McGarry, a member of the Parliament of New South Wales, objected to the Aborigines Protection Amending Act 1915. The Act enabled the Aborigines Protection Board to remove Aboriginal children from their parents without having to establish that they were in any way neglected or mistreated (McKeich, 2006). McGarry described this policy as stealing the child away from its parents. In 1997, the Bringing Them Home report was released. The report was based on findings from the Human Rights and Equal Opportunities Commission s National Inquiry into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families (McKeich, 2006). The enquiry found that many cases of forcible child removal occurred around the country. After the release of the report, the media began using the term The Stolen Generations to describe the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who shared their stories. The report did not refer to the term The Stolen Generations but rather referred to it as forcible removal policies (McKeich, 2006). As art practices evolved during the 19th and 20th centuries, the elite of society became an object of criticism and obscurity as subject matter, whereas the working class began to appear in artworks in a more open and positive light. This shift in artworks depicting the working class in favor of aristocracy is clear in the analysis of three different periods, with the works of three different artists: Jean FranГ§ois Millet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Vera Mukhina. Millet depicts the working class forthright in his works, such as The Gleaners (1857); he focuses on the futility of labor and the conditions of the emerging middle classin reaction to the extravagance and leisure of the aristocracy around him. Renoir utilizes an Impressionistic style to depict the working class neighborhood and surroundings he lives in; in paintings such as Luncheon of the Boating Party (1881), he exposes the leisurely lifestyle of the working class and their integration into the rest of society. The working class could now intermix with the aristocracy in a way that had never before been plausible. Mukhina, however, like other Socialist Realist artists, represents the working class in her sculpture Worker and Collective Farm Girl (1937) as a powerful and driving force; in the piece, noticeably absent is any reference to the elite in society. • 41. The Decision Put Forward By Robert S. Kaplan In the following essay I will be looking at the arguments put forward by Robert S. Kaplan and others on why management accounting techniques had lost their relevance to organisations by the 1980s. Since the 1980s new management accounting techniques have been developed, I will be looking at two recent developments in management accounting and assessing whether they have sufficiently addressed the concerns raised by Kaplan and if they have improved the usefulness of management accounting in organisations. Kaplan and Johnson believe that the origin of modern management accounting is traced to the emergence of managed, hierarchal businesses in the early 19th century. The need for planning and control arose in textile mills where cost of product was allocated to worker productivity, raw material use and plant layout. It was because of the factory locations being so far away for the head offices that an information system was required to be used as a judge of efficiency of the factory workers. The rapid growth of railroads established performance measures in the form of cost per ton mile, cost per passenger per mile and ratio of operating expenses to revenue (Waweru, 2010). Shortly afterwards the mass production of steelworks introduced direct cost measures and standard costing. From this we can see that management accounting evolved as a tool to motivate and evaluate the efficiency/effectiveness of internal processes.
