Continuous Quality Improvement Model
The Continuous quality improvement (CQI) is very essential component of public health. The
quality management is focused not only on product and service quality, but also on the means to
achieve it. It was good explanation about healthcare delivery systems in the US, public health
agencies and national public healthperformance standard program (NPHPSP) and they should have
responsibility to achieve CQI. I have perceived CQI key concepts, aims of public healthdelivery
system and how core and support system functions based on methods. Six sigma is significant role
in public health management for process improvement to eliminating the defects. I learned six
sigma process improvement model which help to improve quality care. However, many hospitals
and healthcare practices have adopted six sigma management tools to help achieve goals.

Sports and the Business World
In the wide world of sports, teams will try and find a way to better market themselves in the nation
to make more revenue. There are many ways to market your team but in the newer generation
teams have been taking a different approach. Most teams will advertise there big sports star in
trying to have people buy there gear, buy tickets, or simply support their team. But the most
effective way to market your team is getting to the kids first. In advertising for a younger generation

As teams use youth marketing to make their organization grow, they must realize it s important to
know the most appropriate time to deliver certain messages. Marketers must understand that
marketing to a seven year old must be different than marketing to a ten year old. For example, the
NFL has been working in the past few months to sharpen their focus. They have really focused on
the eleven to fourteen year old group. Statistics show that the time in the life cycle when kids are
making decisions about participating in football and long lasting decisions about sports
consumption and viewership.
Many teams have decided that the best way to create interest among kids and teenagers is to
market to their parents, using as a hook the sporting event as the ideal family outing. Team s youth
target the kids indirectly through their parents. Using print ads in regional editions of family and
parenting magazines, are just some of the ways that Anaheim Angels Robert Alvarado, director of
marketing and promotions uses to incorporate families. He also runs ads targeted at kids,
including spots on the local Radio Disney affiliate that promote the team s kid friendly giveaways.
In addition to those giveaways, the Angels have three main youth focused in stadium events: a kid

Summary Of The Tale Of Kurochi

The Tale of Kurochi In a far away land, secluded away from society and the rest of the world,
there was a beautiful land. This land was called Heiwana. Heiwana was a very calm and
peaceful realm, full of magical creatures. There was a huge, rich, and plentiful kingdom in the
middle of the land, and on each side there were two different realms. On one side, was a huge
forest, with the tallest trees you would ever see. The forest was riddled with imps, fairies, orcs,
dwarves, and other mystical beings. Including witches and wizards. One the other side of the
kingdom, was a large, dried out, desolate desert. Despite the fact the forest was full of more species
of creatures, the desert was far more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This tunnel was tiny, no one older than the age of seventeen would be able to fit through, unless if
they were smaller than normal. The valley also had a small stream that was connected to waterfalls
on hills that were across the valley from each other.
In this particular valley, there was one small, cozy cottage in the middle. Surrounded by
abundant herb gardens and livestock, this cottage was miniscule in comparison to the
humongous valley. This cottage, was home to an old woman. The old woman s name was
Maria Jenkins, but most people had called her Madam Jenkins. Madam Jenkins was a plump old
woman, with a kind face, and dull green eyes. Madam Jenkins s hair was grey by now, after
many years of living(seventy three to be exact), and it was always kept in a messy bun atop her
head. However, her hair bun was usually hidden by her large sunhat, which she used to block out
the sun as she tend to the garden she owned.
Madam Jenkins was not entirely alone, sure she had fairies and sheep, but her important
company, was her small granddaughter, of only age six. Her granddaughter s name was Sophie,
Sophie Jenkins. Sophie had big, oak brown eyes, with dusty brown hair to match. Sophie s hair
was usually kept in a long braid, that went just past her chest. Sophie was a small and scrawny girl,

Reinstatement Of Torture Analysis
Torture is the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment or to force
them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain. The Central
Intelligence Agency of the US is known for its torture methods, or enhanced interrogation
techniques. These various torture methods have led to a lot of backlash from the public and added
resistance from the opposing organizations. Legally, Torture, done by Americans, has been banned
under various acts. However, with a new, pro torture administration in The White House,
reinstatement of torture may take place. By observing and analyzing the groups that will be

example for many and improve their image. It will make sure there will be no fuel for additional,
negative propaganda against the United states and other American policies. The American people

Lenders will charge higher interest rates than for conventional mortgages as they seek to

Banks became increasingly worried about both the value of their own mortgage books and
particularly the value of the mortgage securitised investments they had bought from other
institutions As a result they became reluctant to lend to other banks in the short term money
markets. This crisis of confidence led to major liquidity problems for many banks and insurance
companies worldwide. Liquidity means the ability of institutions, including banks, to meet their

The oil price eventually peaked at $147 per barrel in mid 2008.

Scott Sanders Use Of Metaphors In This Passage Annotation
Throughout this passage Scott Russell Sanders uses metaphors to persuade the readers to think
migration is not a helpful characteristic in human beings lives. You can see this by the metaphor,
The habit of our industry and commerce has been to force identical schemes onto differing
locales, as though the mind were a cookie cutter and the land were dough from the article
(Sanders 59). With this quote the author is trying to say cookie dough is like the land and we are
like a cookie cutter, that is why this is a metaphor because he is comparing us and the land to
another object. The author uses this quote to explain how migration has forced us to move
industries to lands that can not handle it. He relates cookie dough and us being the cookie

Cepaea Nemoralistic Lab Report
In this study, we designed and examined the effects of different degrees of soil moisture levels
on the distance travelled of Cepaea nemoralis. Our experiment showed that the average distance
travelled of Cepaea nemoralis was higher in moister levels of soil. This was the case in both
Trials 1 and 2 and statistical analysis showed that both Trials were statistically significant (See
Figures 1 and 2). Through various research and previous observations, our prediction was that the
Cepaea nemoralis would move a longer distance in moister levels of soil. Higher levels of soil

Morals And Ideas Of Characters In The Great Gatsby
The morals and ethics of the characters in the Great Gatsby are twisted.Their ideas of morals and
ethics are very selfish and apply to their wants and needs. Fitzgerald creates characters that have
very different ways of thinking but, in a way, the same. They all have their own twisted ways of
lying,cheating, and being manipulative.
The ethics and morals of the characters in the Great Gatsby were very weak. For example when Tom
found out daisy was having an affair he was very hypocritical towards her even though he was
having an affair with myrtle.People who have good ethics and morals first off don t cheat or have
affairs behind their significant others back. Then when tom gets mad and hypocritical about the
situation it gos to show just how untruthful he is and how he can t own up to what he s doing as
well. When Tom has is other mistress calling the house it shows he has no respect for Daisy, that
he only cares about himself.A person with strong ethics and morals has respects for others and
shows that respect for them whether they are with them or not.Tom is doing things behind Daisy s
back and even treating her like garbage to her face and people notice that.
The characters in the Great Gatsby really don t have ethics and morals. There constantly
lying, cheating, or doing something to hurt on another, it s very dramatic .Tom cheats on
Daisy,Jordans a liar,Gatsby lies about his life, etc.If they really did have ethics and morals they
wouldn t be getting into so much drama all

The Impact Of Income Inequality On Economic Growth
LITERATURE REVIEW The impact of Income Inequality on Economic Growth: A Case study
on Nigeria Student Number: P14173106 Supervisor: Helen Solomon Module Leader: Helen
Solomon Date: 26th November 2016 Word Count: 1.0 Introduction According to Adam Smith
(1776) in his book the wealth of nations, no society can surely be flourishing and happy, of which
the far greater part of the members are poor and miserable . Economic growth and income
inequality are central inter related facets that explain current trend in global issues. Oxfam (2016)
suggested that 62 of the richest people have the same wealth as the 3.6 billion poorest people. The
rich continue to acquire wealth, while the poor struggle for basic things required for survival like
food, access to clean water and shelter. The research question proposed is: Does income inequality
have an impact on economic growth? . This chapter highlights the key concepts and notions which
underlie the subject matter of the study in order to provide an ideal frame for understanding the
relationship between income inequality and economic growth and answering the research question.
It will also look at previous empirical studies carried out by other researchers in this field and
identify gaps in the existing literature. 2.0 Theoretical Framework and Empirical Evidence

How Did Hitler Lose Power In Germany
On January 30, 1933 Hitler became the chancellor of Germany and with his newly acquired
powers, Hitler quickly and effectively altered the political system and social lives of German
citizens. During the years of Hitler s regime, many crucial changes affected the lives of Germany s
diverse citizens for the good and the bad. Despite his radical and sometimes brutal proclamations,
Hitler s action was severely limited at first but through popular appeal and through democratic
process, Hitler successfully turned democratic Germanyinto a dictatorship
A major misconception is that Hitler stole power from the Weimar Republic and became a total
dictator. However, that is further from the truth. In fact, Hitler became chancellor through legal

While President Hindenburg at have very little political powers before and after the passing of the

with the passing of Hindenburg on August 1934 one of Hitler s obstacle is quickly washed away. In
addition, under the German constitution, the president was the supreme commander of the German
armed forces. Hitler now assumed that position which required member of the military to swear
and oath of allegiance to him. With Hindenburg passing and Hitler s command of the military, to
many people, the Nazi party seems unstoppable. The second obstacle, was the removal of Ernst
Rohm. Rohm was head of 2.5 million Stormtrooper. A veteran of World War One, Rohm and his
Stormtroopers had played a powerful role in destabilizing the Weimar Republic and consolidating
Hitler s new regime. With a men of 2.5 million, Rohm essentially commanded an army and would
be a fearsome opponent if he were to staged a rebellion. However, Rohm and his stormtroopers
were crucial in bringing down the Weimar republic and stabilizing the Nazi party. In spite of the
critical role Rohm played, Hitler started to gravitate toward the SS or Schutzstaffel, Nazism s elite
guard headed by Himmler, had grown more powerful and wanted the upper hand over its rival
organization, the stormtroopers ... On the night of June 30, 1934, on Hitler s order the SS struck.

The Toothpaste Factory Got The Top People
Dedication To my parents, who gave me life and taught me the meaning of it. Both by accident.
Introduction Once upon a time, a toothpaste factory had a problem. They sometimes shipped
empty boxes without the tube inside. This was caused by the way the production line was set
up, and people with experience in designing production lines will tell you how difficult it is to
have everything happen with timings so precise that every single unit coming out of it is perfect
100% of the time. Small variations in the environment (which can t be controlled in a cost
effective fashion) mean you must have quality assurance checks smartly distributed across the line
so customers all the way down to the supermarket don t get angry and buy another product
instead. Understanding how important that was, the CEO of the toothpaste factory got the top
people in the company together and they decided to start a new project in which they would hire
an external engineering company to solve their empty boxes problem since their engineering
department was already too stretched to take on any extra effort. The project followed the usual
process: budget and project sponsor allocated, RFP and third parties selected. Six months (and $8
million) later, they had a fantastic solution on time, on budget, high quality and everyone in the
project had a great time. They solved the problem by using high tech precision scales that would
sound a bell and flash lights whenever a toothpaste box would weigh less

Who Is Pontius Pilate The Roman Governor In The Death Of...
Question 3: Discuss the role of Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor in the death of Jesus. Who
was he? Did he want Jesus to die? What did he do to achieve his aims? Was he happy with the
end result of his actions? Pontius Pilate was the Roman Governor during the period of Jesus
existence and is most commonly known as the judge of Jesus trial. Pilate was appointed prefect of
the Roman provinces of Judaea, Samaria and Idumaea by the Roman Emperor, Tiberius in 26 AD.
The title of a Roman prefect granted Pilate the power of a supreme judge that had the only authority
to demand a criminal s execution. His crucial responsibility as a Roman prefect was maintaining
law and order which it has been said to be accomplished through brute force if Pilate couldn t
negotiate. Initially, Pontius Pilate did not want Jesus to be put to death as he saw him as innocent
but was cautious to not offend the Jews. After examining Jesus privately, he returned to the crowd
that gathered and exclaimed that the accused had done nothing worthy of death however, the crowd

The Civil War Of 1861
The Civil War took place in 1861 and it lasted up until 1865. It was a war between the United
States or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the
Confederacy. The Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred
to keep slavery and the North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many
other incidents that occurred and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have
its end results. Those battles will be addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle
took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The
Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by
P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas
in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates
managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army
were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for
the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able
to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to proclaim western Virginia a new
renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the Battle of Bull Run, the war
took a turn in favor of the Union. A Union regiment directed by David

Speech On Secularism
It cannot be denied that in a multicultural and a multifarious religious state, secularism cannot be
given any precise definition. It is a tool in the hands of the State to use it judiciously for the
promotion of inter communal peace and harmony, and to ensure, depending on the peculiarities of
each case, that all the communities receive equal treatment.
India waited another twenty seven years to enshrine secularism as one of the objectives of the
nation. On 1 September 1976, through the 42nd Amendment Act, passed during an internal
emergency, the words secular and socialist were formally added to the preamble of the Constitution.

R. Gokhale, made a lengthy speech on its far reachingconsequences. Yet about secularism and its
introduction in the preamble of the Constitution, this was all he had to say:
(T)he objectives which we had always in view, namely, socialism and secularism, which we have
tried to implement, will be more and more implemented and will be more accurately and correctly
reflected in a basic part of our Constitution, namely, the Preamble. Let anyone say that socialism or
secularism is incapable of definition (sic).
Well, in order to accept that argument of the Law Minister , one may say that democracy in that
sense is also incapable of definition because, it is understood in different ways in different
countries. But, there is consensus on the way we practice democracy. In the same way, the
meanings of the words socialism and secularism are well understood and embedded in the
Constitution. Thus, all the argument seems futile but the main objective of the amendment to the
Preamble was a very important and fundamental feature of the Amendment

The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre
The tension between the colonies and Britain was nothing new. There were several occasions where
the colonies became greatly infuriated with the unpleasant treatment they were receiving. Prior to
the year 1770, much of the outcry came from the acts passed by the British government, such as the
Stamp Act, Quartering Act, and Declaratory Act ( A Timeline of the American Revolution). Even
though the colonists were infuriated, it would take something more to push them over the edge.
This something would turn out to be what is now called the Boston Massacre. Although the Boston
Massacre won t go down as the deadliest massacre in American history, it will go down as one of
the most pivotal turning points due to the colonists depiction of the event. Several things
happened leading up to the massacre itself, which are important to note. The colonists were
becoming increasingly frustrated with Britain, which led to political unrest. To counteract this
unrest, British troops were sent to Boston, where they arrived on October 1, 1968. Originally,
there wasn t an open resistance to the presence of the troops. Over time, things would change,
which can be derived from the events of March 5, 1770. There were two sides: the mob of
colonists and the the British soldiers. The colonists ended up attacking a British sentinel, leaving
the British captain to call in more soldiers, who were also attacked. Shots were fired by the
British, killing a total of 5 and wounding 6

What Is Karwachauth Festival Essay
One of the many festivals that we celebrate in India is Karwachauth. Karwachauth has a profound
significance in the lives of married women since they fast for their husband s long life and well
being on this festival. Karwachauth falls in the month of October. According to Hindu lunisolar
calendar, this festival falls in the month of Kartik, on the fourth day past the full moon of the
Krishna Paksha.
Karvachauth word is a blend of two Hindi words: karva means the earthen pot (used in the puja)
and Chauth means the fourth day. Married women fast for their husband from the time the sun rises
till the moon rises and offer their prayers to the goddess Chauth maata to get the blessing of the
longevity of their spouse.
Scriptures have it that this festival is celebrated because Satyavati had saved his husband,
Satyavan, king of Hastinapur from Yama god of death by fasting and got her husband s life
restored. There are many stories associated with this puja therefore, this festival is celebrated with

What Are Huck Finn s Life Lessons
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a novel based on morals and action. Huckleberry Finn or
Huck learns many lessons throughout his adventures in the deep south despite the social norm of
the pre Civil War era. Many of Huck s life lessons mature him as the novel goes on and makes
him realize how corrupted his world is. Huck learns that slaves are like white people, what s right
and what s wrong, and that not all people can be trusted. It s these lessons Huck learns that forms
him into a man throughout the novel.
Huck learning that slaves are like whites is one of the largest wake up calls to him. It is between
chapter 15 when Huck decides to play a prank on Jim. After the conundrum the wreckage from
the prank shows up on shore and Jim gets upset. Huck says It was fifteen minutes before I could
work myself up to go and humble a nigger, but I done it. (pg 83.). Then later on Jim tells Huck
about his deaf daughter and how he hit her. After this incident is mentioned Huck realizes black

Military Industrial Complex Essay
Position on Military Industrial Complex Catalina M. Young Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy
Abstract The Military Industrial Complex is a term coined by former President Dwight D.
Eisenhower. This refers to the relationship between the nation s armed forces and the industries that
support them. Though its name came about in the 1960s, this relationship between armed forces
and private industry dates back centuries. Recent legislation has been passed to help limit the power
that this relationship has over defense spending. For any country, military spending is a big part of
the national budget. Over time this business transaction has formed into a relationship between the
nation s armed forces and these private defense industries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

At that point in time, arms were still being manufactured and shipped over from Britain.
Hamilton not only saw this as a more economical way to obtain arms, but also as a way to cut ties
with foreign arms producers, which he thought was key to national security. This seemingly small
proposal at the time, lead to the eventual production of arms on American soil. From this point
onward the country s defense and economy were intertwined. As the need for more weapons grew,
the process of making them transformed from a single person hand crafting a gun, to an assembly
line of people each trained to build a separate part of a gun. In 1808 a policy for arming the United
States militia called for more guns to be made. This act supplied the militia with $200,000 in arms
and military equipment annually.(Encyclopedia of the New American Nation, 2013) Pretty soon
thereafter national arms systems were set upon the national armories. A network of reliable arms
manufacturers emerged. Contracts were drawn up between these armories and private
manufacturers, who were more likely to test new means and materials to improve guns. This was
key to an ideal system of arms production. This was the beginning of the military industrial
complex. It was here that the desire for an innovative military arms snowballed into the high tech
industry that it is today. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of
unwarranted influence, whether sought or

How Does Tacitus Describe The Culture Of The German
The Germania written by Tacitus served as an ethnography of Germans that lived in the lands
beyond Roman control. Tacitus goes through every aspect of culture and in some cases compares
Germans to Romans. He describes German culture as a whole in the first half of the reading, then
moves on to discuss each individual tribe and their customs. Tacitus defines racein very broad
sense, drawn from how he depicts Germans in contrast to Romans. We see that geography and
culture play a large role, although they differ slightly from tribe to tribe, many maintain similar
customs. Through the Germania, we see that Tacitus differentiates race on the basis of physical
appearance, lifestyle, and regard for women. One of the more obvious indications of racial
difference, is seen through physical characteristics. Tacitus praises in the fact that their bloodlines
are so pure due to the fact they never intermarried with outsiders, He goes on to say that the lack
of immigrants to Germany may be due to the fact that land there is undesirable to live on, and so
immigration to Germany was ostensibly unheard of. The physical features Tacitus accredits to
Germans are: fierce blue eyes, red hair, and large frames (4). Another aspect he finds uniform for

Germans held women in high regard, Tacitus uses this to further distinguish Germans as their own
race. Tacitus creates this distinction on numerous occasions: Germans give women credit for
certain inspiration and power of prophecy (8), they are content with one wife (18), the husband
offers dowry to his wife (18), and Captivity for their women is something that men hate, even more
then if it was themselves (8). Germans differed from Romans in terms of marriage by having the
woman becomes the man s partner in toils and dangers, (18) this sounds like equality between a
man and women, to be partners and to have that

Anger And Forgiveness In The Film Smoke Signals
In the film Smoke Signals written by Sherman Alexie, anger and forgiveness play a major part in
the lives of the Native Americans who live in the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Forgiving
oneself or forgiving others proves to be a hard battle to conquer. As you view throughout the movie
the changes that take place in each character, think about yourself and what feats you have
overcome with anger and forgiveness. The main characters in the film include Arnold Joseph,
Victor Joseph, Thomas Builds the fire, and Suzy Song. There are multiple areas within the film
where offering forgiveness would hold the key to finding inner peace, the question is do any of
the characters actually reach inner peace? Arnold Joseph battles within his own conscience
throughout the film and it isn t obvious whether he ever forgives himself for what he did. Victor
Joseph goes through life with a lot of anger towards his father, Arnold. He struggles to forgive him
for abandoning him as a child, for his alcoholism, and the physical abuse him and his motherwere
subjected to. Victor also shows anger towards Thomas Builds the fire because of their differing
views of Arnold Joseph. The only one who doesn t express anger and is very forgiving is
Thomas Builds the fire. He of all people has a right to be angry, after all, he has lost the most at
the hands of another, whether on purpose or by accident. But, he goes through life as a happy go
lucky person, an imaginative storyteller, and above all a caring individual to others. Interesting
enough, the character who changes the most as the movie goes on is Victor Joseph. It isn t easy
for him to forgive, but, as he grows as a person and learns the truth about his fathers actions he
eventually finds peace.
The setting for the majority of the movie takes place at the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation in
Idaho, but changes when Thomas and Victor travel together to Arizona later in the movie. The
movie begins on July 4th, 1976 and sets the initial conflict early on. It quickly advances to 1998
when the boys are grown, but, shows excerpts from the past throughout the movie as they
reminisced. The Reservation is portrayed well, showing how Native American societies lived and

Watersheds
Watersheds are important because water such as stormwater or surface water drain to other
bodies of water. To help our watershed it doesn t seem too hard if we get the right help, it might
take a lot of time and dedication but not impossible. My partner and I had a few ideas but we
decided on one. Our way to help our watershed would be by putting sea bins in some rivers that
you can tell are contaminated with trash. We started brainstorming and ended up with the
thought about putting a sea bin in the Poudre River first for like a month or two to see if there s
any difference. If putting a sea bin there is successful then we thought about putting more sea
bins in rivers in Colorado. In order for this to work we would have to request people for the help we
need, buy materials, place sea bin in the river, constantly check on our idea and take data. We
need data because that s a way to know if sea bins help or not.... Show more content on

Two authors agree, and one, the offensive realist John Mearsheimer, a man many IR majors and
theorists have grown to know and love, continues to maintain his position. Mearsheimer s next
book should be called, Mutually Assured Destruction by John Mearsheimer. His Offensive
Realist perspective creates a gloomy forecast that he wishes to refute for the Chinese American
great power debate. With this book being published in 2001 and the most updated copy in April
2014, it is probably very interesting to read the first edition of this book in comparison to the
most update version. However that being said Mearsheimer s initial arguments of the chapter
assigned, has proven to be true. Recently assigned, was an article on the current situation in the
South China Sea. An imperative region specifically for the U.S and home to one of the busiest
shipping lanes in the World, Mearsheimer discusses in depth the Chinese position in this region.
Mearsheimer gives an extensive synopsis of his core elements of IR theory, but his main argument
which all three theorists seem to agree on is the American resemblance of China s geo political
strategy. While Ikenberry and Glaser, focus on international diplomacy that must be taken to
prevent major war and the dismal likelihood of a great power war between these to powers. As
more knowledge is gained on this topic, it is extremely difficult, as a student to truly understand
what will actually happen in the future for China and the United States.

In American society, the common stereotype is that the father has the role of the dominant figure
in the household. Sylvia Plath and Sharon Olds may come across as two seemingly different
poets, however, they are really quite similar, especially in their driving forces behind their writing
styles in poetry. The lives of Plath and Olds are both expressive of the realities of a father
dominated family, in which both of these poets lost their fathers at a young age. This is significant
because both poets have faced a similar traumatic event that has had everlasting effects on their
adult womanhood, which is reflected in their writings. For both these woman, their accesses to

Both poems make allusions to Greek deities as a metaphor for the common perception that the
father is the dominant one in a family. The numerous attempts of the speaker s infatuation with The
Colossus with restoring the fallen statue and Olds comparison of alcoholism to the Greek deity,
Saturn both vividly symbolize that a father s decisions whether its life or in death, has its
consequences. In, addition it is for a young girl growing up to have a father figure in their lives
and how the absence of a father figure can impact a young woman s life tremendously.
Plath touches upon the highs and struggles of her life growing up, such as the tragic loss of her
father, which is reflected within her work. Sylvia was confused and angry about her father s
death. Plath expresses her hate for why her father is gone, hence why she became depressed and
mentally ill because deep down inside she felt like she could ve prevented his death. Plath always
felt like a victim to the male dominated society, especially when it came down to her father. In
The Colossus , the speaker tries in vain to piece fallen Colossus of Rhodes back together and to
make it speak to her. This depicts her broken relationship with her father for which she was trying
to piece back together as well. The Colossus was extremely tall statue of the Greek figure Helios.

The Visual Recognition Of Image Patterns
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background to the Study
As a scientific discipline, computer vision is concerned with the extraction of information from
images to be employed in a decision making process. The image data can take many forms, such
as video sequences, still images, digitized maps, diagrams and sketches. These images may be in
colour format, grey scale or in binary format. The common approach is to extract characteristic
features from the image either in the spatial domain or in some suitable transform domain. Whether
the goal is classification or recognition, a measure of similarity or distance must be formulated and
the success rate of the system evaluated. Some of the application areas of computer vision are:
1.1.1.Robotics
The visual recognition of image patterns is a fundamental human attribute that uses the eye as a
sensor and dedicated parts of the brain as the decision making processor. The visual recognition
enables humans to perform a variety of tasks such as target identification, ease of movement,
handling tools, communication among others. Advances in sensing and visual perception
techniques have enabled some of these attributes to be transferred to robots. For example,
identification of colour is a useful asset in a robot in an industrial automation process that involves
sorting. [1], [2], [3]
1.1.2. Industrial Inspection
Industrial inspection is an area in which pattern recognition is of importance. A pattern recognition
system captures images

Analysis Of The Nightmare Before Christmas
Around the world, people know of holidays like St. Patrick s Day, Valentine s day, or Christmas.
However, there is a magical place where not everyone knows of such things, they just know
what is around them. Screenwriter Caroline Thompson allows for others to see a new look at
how the holidays are in their world. For example, Thompson describes how a scary skeleton
embarks on a journey and learns of another holiday that is completely different from his world.
Edward Ivory is the main voiceover of the Thompson s 2014 20/20 winner The Nightmare Before
Christmas(Jon Reeves). Ivory is given the role of Santa, who is the man to save the day after Jack
Skellington, Chris Sarandon, decides to take over Christmas and ruins it all together (Jon Reeves).
Jack is bored of being the ruler of Halloweenland and goes off on a melancholy walk, not
realizing where he is going. He comes upon a group of doors that are for all the Holidays, and
becomes intrigued by all the different lands, this is where the disaster starts. As Jack goes along
in the story, he becomes more and more obsessed with the idea of Christmas, and begins to
destroy all that is set in order. The Nightmare Before Christmas shows why things should stay the
way they are, and why disrupting the order of things will cause chaos. In the beginning of Act I
everyone in town is happy after having completed the Halloween song. The song sets the scene for

Currently, the automotive industry within the United States is going through major changes and an
in depth overhaul. The demand for smaller more fuel efficient automobiles that has been brought on
due to ever increasing fuel costs is the driving factor for these changes of dynamics in production.
The continually rising fuel costs are not the only driving force in the changes of demand by the
American people. People are also much more environmentally friendly which has recently been a
steering force for American consumers away from the traditionally owned pick up trucks and sport
utility vehicles. American manufacturers have also been able to improve the market and its
structure through technology such as electric cars and hybrid technology, which are proving to be
factors in the changing and evolution of the automotive industry landscape (Wayland, 2013).

Impact Of The World Trade Organization ( Wto ) On The...
Few environmentalists have positive things to say on the impact of the World Trade Organization
(WTO) on the environment. WTO legal obligations are frequently cited as the most significant
impediment to a range of environmental initiatives, including notably meaningful international
coordination to combat climate change, particularly through carbon tax initiatives, and imposition
of electronic waste disposal export bans. In this vein, adverse findings of WTO dispute panels on
environmental conservation measures tend to attract the ire of international civil society. The
tensions between liberal trade and environmental protection can be traced back to the days of the
General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade
(GATT) of 1947, which pre dated the WTO. Under the
GATT 1947, trade and environment disputes tended to be resolved through diplomatic channels.
The WTO Agreements were intended to provide a more predictable and legalistic means by which
to resolve such disputes, in exchange for deeper commitments on domestic regulation, a domain
historically deemed off limits to international disciplines. Two of these agreements in particular, the
Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) and the Agreement on Sanitary and
Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement), introduced binding disciplines with serious implications
for domestic environmental decision making, a subset of domestic regulation. The expectation was
that the depolitization of WTO disputes would afford more

Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction
Theory:
Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties namely: voltage,
current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as: V=IR. By understanding the
importance of conduction, one is able to determine the total resistance and visualize how resistors
are connected in parallel circuits. In parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for
current [I] so that the total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected
in parallel. In contrast, the resistance in series circuits increases when more resistors are introduced
into the circuit. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In effect, the resistor was aligned horizontally with the first end. A black wire extension (from the
negative polarity of the power supply) was connected vertically from one end of the last resistor
plugged into the first set of holes just below the blue line albeit aligned differently from the red
wire (Figure 1). Figure 1: Circuit diagram
A digital multimeter was used to measure voltage by connecting it in parallel and series with the

Analysis
Resistors connected in series are observed to share one current path. A breadboard effectively builds
a testing electrical and electronic system model. It also holds electrical components together
conveniently for practical applications.
Part 2: Measuring Resistors in Series A multimeter was connected across individual resistors and
resistance measurements were recorded. The multimeter was then connected across all the resistors
whereby measurements recorded. The values are tabulated in Table 1:

It is a method to avoid excessive data and to ensure the data integrity. There have three types of
relationships: * One to One For example, one employee only has one ID and one ID only for
one employee. In many case, One to One relationship is for reduce the time to searching data. *
One to Many Simply, One to Many means one thing or one person has many relations with other.
For example, one department can have many employees. * Many to Many Many to Many is
different with other two. To build Many to Many relationship you need to have at least three
tables. It is because Many to Many cannot make the connection directly. For example, a student
can choose many course but a course can have many student too so you cannot actually link
them together. To link them, you will need a table to transfer data so the relationship will

The Space Of Space And Space
When I was a child I ve always dreamt about going to outer space and explore the universe. Out
of curiosity I became obsessed with space because there were many creative science fiction
movies where it shows how space should be like, but I have found myself asking the same
question over and over again. Is it really possible to live on another planet? Few years later, many
space expeditions occurrence was to send humans onto the moon. When the mission succeeded it
was one of the greatest achievements of all time. That was when I came to believe that if we
humans can set foot on the moon then we can accomplish many things in the world. During this
year it is impossible for astronauts to set foot on other planets because of our current technology
only allowing us a one way trip to the planet. That is why NASAis creating robots called the
robonaut to take the astronauts place and use them to build sufficient green houses in certain
areas of the planets in order for humans to survive there. One day in the afternoon me and my
friends planned to all hang out and catch up on life in Orange County. While we were cruising
around town we stumbled across a billboard advertising a new movie that just came out which is
called the Interstellar. None of us had heard about it before. Being a space nerd such as me, I ve
somehow convinced my friends to watch the movie while we were eating. As we bought our
tickets, none of us expected much from this movie because it wasn t really mention

Application Of Magnetic Polymer Nanocomposites
Abstract Magnetic polymer nanocomposites have attracted broad interest for hyperthermic cancer
treatment because they are non toxic, biocompatible, and can be remotely heated by alternating
magnetic fields. The magnetic induction heating behavior provides a great benefit in biomedical
applications, such as targeted drug delivery, and magnetic separation. In situ formation of an
organic or polymer layer on their surface is one of the efficient methods for decreasing the
aggregation between the nanoparticles, as well as providing functionality on the surface and
allowing further functionalization with drugs and therapeutic agents. The most challenging task in
hyperthermia is to maximize the specific absorption rate (SAR) with a lower ferrofluids dose.
Magnetic nanoparticles coated with polymer layer combine the unique magnetic properties of multi
functional nanoparticles with self heating property. In addition, it is easier in preparation by a one
pot process. The formation of the nanoparticles with a higher SAR makes it a promising in
hyperthermia cancer treatment. 1. Introduction The outstanding potential of magnetic polymer
nanocomposites stems from the ability to obtain structures with the combinations of properties that
neither individual material possesses. It is possible to synthesize these nanocomposites in desired
shape and size with controlled properties of stability, surface area, magnetic, optical, and catalytic
properties. The easy separation and controlled

Disparity Between Dunce and Genius in Toole s A Confederacy of Dunces
When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign, that the dunces are all in
confederacy against him. Jonathan Swift In Swift s words, there is a potential for the existence of
a genius, indicated by the group of dunces acting in opposition. In A Confederacy of Dunces by
John Kennedy Toole, IgnatiusJ. Reilly plays both parts of the genius and the dunce. As Ignatius
plays both parts, the Wheel of Fortuna determines the path of events in his life; although he is not
aware of it, Fortuna s spin is also determined by his actions. Just as the wheel is circular, so are the
events in his life. Ignatius moves through his own bildingsroman, ... Show more content on

Ignatius proves that he is genius in the aspect of speech but, on the other hand, his physicalities
show him to be a dunce. He speaks to his mother and , in the middle of a sentence, he often
snorted loudly and cleared his throat (9). Also, Dorian Greene, the man in the bottle green velvet
jacket, notices Ignatius flannel shirt and.the hair curling down the back of his neck (17). In
dealing with Darlene, Ignatius does not leave a positive impression when he consumes many
macaroons and wine cakes, sending out his flabby pink tongue over his moustache to hunt for
crumbs (18). The images of Ignatius hair, tongue, and moustache do not paint pretty pictures and
he is seen as the big crazyman. Following their departure from the Night of Joy, Ignatius and his
mother have difficulties getting to the car and reach their destination after exerting much effort.
In the car accident that is caused by Ignatius relentless commentary, he fully shows his loss of
physical control when he vomits down the side of the car. Toole s use of Grotesque realism
places a decided emphasis on Ignatius body and its flaws. With the exaggerated physical view of
Ignatius, the reader can more easily place him in the dunce category. The situation at the Night of
Joy and the subsequent car accident lead Ignatius to believe that Fortuna is spinning him
downward, but, he does not realize that he creates his own luck by his actions and words. He is the
agent of his own undoing.

Los Angeles Civil Unrest Analysis
. The Los Angeles Civil Unrest in 1992 is the most destructive event happened in the United
States. Many Korean immigrant merchants in the South Central suffered a lot during the Unrest.
According to Professor Park s PowerPoint, there were at least 2,300 Korean owned businesses
suffered a partial or total loss of their properties with damage estimated to exceed $350 million, or
nearly 50 percent of the total damage for the city of Los Angeles(Park). When the Unrest first
started, the Korean community was not affected at all, but as the tension slowly builds toward
Latinos, Korean community suffered. (Park). After the Unrest, Korean immigrant merchants

Korean Americans racial relations with Latinos changed after the 1992 Civil Unrest. The
relationships between Korean and Latinos are described as labor relations. Korean merchants
employed Latino workers more than any other ethnic groups because the cost for Latino labors is
less costly. (Park, 1997). In addition, many Latinos believed that Korean Americans have a
positive impact on their neighborhoods because Korean owned businesses provide employment
opportunities for Latino immigrants (Park, p.147). Even though the relationship between Korean
and Latino seems peaceful, but both ethnic groups still need to pay special attention when
encounter each other in public spaces outside of the workspace. (Park, 1997). Many Latino
workers develop a strong relationship with their Korean American employers because they
worked together for a very long time and are familiar with each other s culture customs. After the
1992 Civil Unrest, the relationship between some Korean Latino changed negatively. Some
Latinos have negative experiences with Korean merchants before, where they received black
breaking low wage job and usually work overtime (Park, p.148). Those Latinos looted many
Korean merchants businesses during the Unrest. Overall the relationship between Korean
American and Latinos shifted from a negative role to a positive one, Korean and Latin American
immigrants they not only share cultural space by working together but have developed close
relationships through socializing and by aiding one another (Park, p.164). Compared to the
relationship between Korean Americans and Latinos, the relationship between Korean Americans
and Blacks is not so well. There are a lot of tensions between Blacks and Korean Americans; they
both view each other as an outsider of the American society. According to Park s article, The Racial
Cartography of Blacks, Latinos, and Koreans , many African American views Korean Americans as
more distant. African Americans

best known for his Bowie rendition on the ISS, in January, and asked him which Earthly place
looked most beautiful from his lofty orbit. The Bahamas are gorgeous, he replied. The deep trench
in the ocean floor called the Tongue of the Ocean, which comes between the islands, is the most
beautiful deep indigo colour. The Bahamas has a weight problem even more so than the US.
Almost 35 percent of the adult population are considered obese, according to the CIA s World

only Finland, Sweden and Hungary have a better per capita strike rate. OK, so The Bahamas
might only have around 10 branches. But with a population of 390,000, that works out at more
than 26 per million residents. Only three countries, the US, Canada and Monaco, have more

lagoons, eight million gallons of water and more than 50,000 aquatic animals from 250 species.
There s even a water slide that runs through the middle of it. The Bahamas needs you. Almost 20
percent of its GDP comes from tourism, a higher percentage than all but six places (Macau,

Example Of Sacrifice Research Paper
Sacrifice
During a time that inner struggle does not outweigh the prospering will for success, sacrifice
breaks through the darkness and allows the light in. Throughout many stages of life each one
encounters some sort of sacrifice despite the outcome. Person against person sacrifice, conflict, is
dehumanizing, and is the burning sensation in relationship to a sunburn in the middle of summer.
Person against society is fighting for what he or she believes in to help better the idea of freedom;
that freedom is different for everyone. Sacrifice is sunlight, which can illuminate or scorch based
upon the individual s perspective.
Sacrifice does not always have to be about war, but that does not mean it never is. The battles
that are worldwide are proof that sacrifice takes place every second that a bullet is pierced
through a young man s heart in a search for a better freedom. Each day two American soldiers lose
their lives in the fight for freedom. Soldiers are not only on the ... Show more content on

Sacrifice is the fire that lights the darkness, and is the heat that allows flowers to blossom in the

Information On My Future Career
Recently, I have been using CFNC.org to gather more information on my future career.
CFNC.org has provided me with more knowledge about my future than I could have gotten
using Google. One goal of mine while writing this paper is to show how interested I am about
my future. Another goal I do have is to teach the reader more information about a specific career
path. Every individual has their own career plan, and possibly could be interested in the same
career as me. In the CFNC.org website, there are multiple surveys you can take to get a better feel
for what type of career you might like. During the Career Cluster Survey I honestly had a few
difficult decisions. There are tons of questions so you know your results should be accurate. At the
end of your survey you will be shown a poll with your results. Out of my results, my top three were
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Information Technology, and Business
Management and Administration. The career I probably should not go for would consist of
Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. With my results I plan to be a ComputerProgrammer.
CFNC.org also has another survey I took, the Basic Skills Survey. This survey allows for you to
find your best life skills. In all the surveys are questions that will better help you understand
yourself. After you take this survey you will be provided another poll with your results. I have

History of Afghanistan and Pakistan
Analysis
Historically Afghanistan and Pakistan have had a good relationship. During the 1980s, Afghan
refugees used the Durand Line border to flee the soviet takeover of their country. With funds aid
from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Pakistan hosted over 3 million Afghans
at various refugee camps. In 1999, the United States gave $70 million in assistance to Afghan
refugees in Pakistan. Pakistan also became the major training ground for the Mujahideen rebel
fighters who fought against the Soviet backed Afghan government and the invading Soviet forces.
The Mujahedeen included not only locals but also Arabs and others from over 40 different Islamic
nations. A religious extremist group known as the Taliban took control of Afghanistans government
after the soviet withdrawal and established friendly relations with neighboring Pakistan. Pakistan
used the Taliban to attack Indian interests in Afghanistan, however after the overthrow of the
Taliban in late 2001 by the United States and allies, Afghan Pakistani relations became strained.
India views Afghanistan as a means of access to Central Asian trade and energy resources, as well
as a means of advancing its own broader domestic and regional interest. Central Asia is one of the
fastest growing markets in the world; and economic activity in the region has had steady growth ,
expanding at about 6 percent per year(imf,2014). Growth in the Central Asian region has mainly
been driven by strong domestic demand, oil,

The Myth of Exodus Essay
The Myth of Exodus
There are many themes running through the Old Testament myth of Exodus slavery, rescue and
redemption, guidance, commandments on how to live, the creation of a nation, and God s power
over other gods. In this paper I will explore what appears to be the chief reasoning behind the
creation of the Exodus myth the explanation of the creation of a monotheistic religion and the
similarities of the Exodus myth to the ancient myths, as well as how one should approach the
reading of the myth.
First of all, we need to understand what a myth is. William Bascom says in his essay, The Forms of
Folklore: Prose Narratives , Myths are prose narratives which, in the society in which they are told,
are considered to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the heart of the matter, the creators of a myth are attempting to explain their world in a world
absent of science and sophisticated tools of research. In approaching myth, the reader must enter
into the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs
and expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was
originally received.
In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified
nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the
traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth ,
...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent
view of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51).
Within the pages of Exodus we find the first code of laws the Ten Commandmentsfor living as a
monotheistic society. God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above
all other gods,
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you
shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3).
In this passage, God reminds Moses that God is supreme above all other gods and he reminds
Moses of the miracle he has performed in bringing the people out of Egypt. The

An Evaluation Of A Company At This Time
First of all, I am glad to inform you that I am thrilled to be advising your company at this time.
Thus, I would do my very best to help the company to perform at its best. In order to accomplish
this, first I would like to introduce the current economic, politics, and the social conditions in
Japan to help the company to decide whether or not it should invest money in this country. This
information is crucial in business because all these three factors mentioned above play a
significant role for private businesses to be successful in certain countries. Therefore, I would
like to start this advisement with the economic situation in Japan since this is the most
important of all three. Initially, for investor companies, the economic conditions of the country
that the firm is investing is vital. For example, an investment for Zimbabwe is not going to be a
great decision. Zimbabwe is a country surrounded by a myriad of problems. For instance,
Zimbabwe s GDP has declined by 38 percent between 1998 and 2003 (Raftopoulos, 2015) also
the inflation in Zimbabwe is enormous that the price of consumer items like meat and clothes rose
by 223 percent in a week (Wines, 2007). This economic condition can be readily understood that
the economy in Zimbabwe is highly unstable; therefore, the investment will be a poor decision. On
the other hand, the economy in Japan is quite stable. Japan is one of the biggest exporters in the
world also they have they third largest GDP. However, after the

Banks became increasingly worried about both the value of their own mortgage books and particularly the value of the mortgage securitised investments they had bought from other institutions As a result they became reluctant to lend to other banks in the short term money markets. This crisis of confidence led to major liquidity problems for many banks and insurance companies worldwide. Liquidity means the ability of institutions, including banks, to meet their short term obligations including repayment of short term loans. The oil price eventually peaked at $147 per barrel in mid 2008. How did the crisis develop during 2008? The Bank of England had to provide financial support to the Northern Rock Building Society in the latter part of 2007, to prevent a run on the society s cash by depositors. It became necessary to formally nationalise Northern Rock in February 2008 (i.e. the Government became its major shareholder, having used taxpayers money to support it). You can see this by the metaphor, The habit of our industry and commerce has been to force identical schemes onto differing locales, as though the mind were a cookie cutter and the land were dough from the article (Sanders 59). With this quote the author is trying to say cookie dough is like the land and we are like a cookie cutter, that is why this is a metaphor because he is comparing us and the land to another object. Our experiment showed that the average distance travelled of Cepaea nemoralis was higher in moister levels of soil. This was the case in both Trials 1 and 2 and statistical analysis showed that both Trials were statistically significant (See Figures 1 and 2). Through various research and previous observations, our prediction was that the Cepaea nemoralis would move a longer distance in moister levels of soil. • 11. Morals And Ideas Of Characters In The Great Gatsby The morals and ethics of the characters in the Great Gatsby are twisted.Their ideas of morals and ethics are very selfish and apply to their wants and needs. Fitzgerald creates characters that have very different ways of thinking but, in a way, the same. They all have their own twisted ways of lying, cheating, and being manipulative. The ethics and morals of the characters in the Great Gatsby were very weak. For example when Tom found out daisy was having an affair he was very hypocritical towards her even though he was having an affair with myrtle.People who have good ethics and morals first off don t cheat or have affairs behind their significant others back. Then when tom gets mad and hypocritical about the situation it gos to show just how untruthful he is and how he can t own up to what he s doing as well. When Tom has is other mistress calling the house it shows he has no respect for Daisy, that he only cares about himself.A person with strong ethics and morals has respects for others and shows that respect for them whether they are with them or not.Tom is doing things behind Daisy s back and even treating her like garbage to her face and people notice that. The characters in the Great Gatsby really don t have ethics and morals. There constantly lying, cheating, or doing something to hurt on another, it s very dramatic .Tom cheats on Daisy,Jordans a liar,Gatsby lies about his life, etc.If they really did have ethics and morals they wouldn t be getting into so much drama all ... How Did Hitler Lose Power In Germany On January 30, 1933 Hitler became the chancellor of Germany and with his newly acquired powers, Hitler quickly and effectively altered the political system and social lives of German citizens. During the years of Hitler s regime, many crucial changes affected the lives of Germany s diverse citizens for the good and the bad. Despite his radical and sometimes brutal proclamations, Hitler s action was severely limited at first but through popular appeal and through democratic process, Hitler successfully turned democratic Germanyinto a dictatorship A major misconception is that Hitler stole power from the Weimar Republic and became a total dictator. • 15. The Toothpaste Factory Got The Top People Dedication To my parents, who gave me life and taught me the meaning of it. Both by accident. Introduction Once upon a time, a toothpaste factory had a problem. They sometimes shipped empty boxes without the tube inside. This was caused by the way the production line was set up, and people with experience in designing production lines will tell you how difficult it is to have everything happen with timings so precise that every single unit coming out of it is perfect 100% of the time. Small variations in the environment (which can t be controlled in a cost effective fashion) mean you must have quality assurance checks smartly distributed across the line so customers all the way down to the supermarket don t get angry and buy another product instead. Understanding how important that was, the CEO of the toothpaste factory got the top people in the company together and they decided to start a new project in which they would hire an external engineering company to solve their empty boxes problem since their engineering department was already too stretched to take on any extra effort. The project followed the usual process: budget and project sponsor allocated, RFP and third parties selected. Six months (and $8 million) later, they had a fantastic solution on time, on budget, high quality and everyone in the project had a great time. They solved the problem by using high tech precision scales that would sound a bell and flash lights whenever a toothpaste box would weigh less ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What did he do to achieve his aims? Was he happy with the end result of his actions? Pontius Pilate was the Roman Governor during the period of Jesus existence and is most commonly known as the judge of Jesus trial. Pilate was appointed prefect of the Roman provinces of Judaea, Samaria and Idumaea by the Roman Emperor, Tiberius in 26 AD. The title of a Roman prefect granted Pilate the power of a supreme judge that had the only authority to demand a criminal s execution. His crucial responsibility as a Roman prefect was maintaining law and order which it has been said to be accomplished through brute force if Pilate couldn t negotiate. Initially, Pontius Pilate did not want Jesus to be put to death as he saw him as innocent but was cautious to not offend the Jews. After examining Jesus privately, he returned to the crowd that gathered and exclaimed that the accused had done nothing worthy of death however, the crowd were displeased with his statement and would not settle with anything less than His death. It was a war between the United States or, The Union army rather, and eleven deep rooted southern states known as the Confederacy. The Civil War occurred mainly as a direct response to slavery. The South preferred to keep slavery and the North simply wanted to preserve the Union. However, there were many other incidents that occurred and there were different battles that caused the Civil War to have its end results. Those battles will be addressed in the following paragraphs. The very first battle took place in 1861. It was known as both The Battle of Bull Run and the Battle of Manassas. The Union army, led by General Irvin Manassas, was slightly larger than the Confederate army, led by P.G.T. Beauregard. It took place in northern Virginia when the Union army marched to Manassas in attempt to attack the Confederates. The attack appeared to be successful, but the Confederates managed to survive. They later went on to counterattack the Union and McDowell and his army were forced to retreat back to Washington. This battle was very detrimental and overwhelming for the Union army, and left them in a state of disbelief. However, in 1861 the Union were still able to make substantial progress. They were eventually able to proclaim western Virginia a new renowned state admitted as West Virginia in 1863. Shortly after the Battle of Bull Run, the war took a turn in favor of the Union. There were several occasions where the colonies became greatly infuriated with the unpleasant treatment they were receiving. Prior to the year 1770, much of the outcry came from the acts passed by the British government, such as the Stamp Act, Quartering Act, and Declaratory Act ( A Timeline of the American Revolution). Even though the colonists were infuriated, it would take something more to push them over the edge. This something would turn out to be what is now called the Boston Massacre. Although the Boston Massacre won t go down as the deadliest massacre in American history, it will go down as one of the most pivotal turning points due to the colonists depiction of the event. Several things happened leading up to the massacre itself, which are important to note. The colonists were becoming increasingly frustrated with Britain, which led to political unrest. To counteract this unrest, British troops were sent to Boston, where they arrived on October 1, 1968. Originally, there wasn t an open resistance to the presence of the troops. Over time, things would change, which can be derived from the events of March 5, 1770. There were two sides: the mob of colonists and the the British soldiers. This refers to the relationship between the nation s armed forces and the industries that support them. Though its name came about in the 1960s, this relationship between armed forces and private industry dates back centuries. At that point in time, arms were still being manufactured and shipped over from Britain. Hamilton not only saw this as a more economical way to obtain arms, but also as a way to cut ties with foreign arms producers, which he thought was key to national security. This seemingly small proposal at the time, lead to the eventual production of arms on American soil. From this point onward the country s defense and economy were intertwined. As the need for more weapons grew, the process of making them transformed from a single person hand crafting a gun, to an assembly line of people each trained to build a separate part of a gun. In 1808 a policy for arming the United States militia called for more guns to be made. This act supplied the militia with $200,000 in arms and military equipment annually.(Encyclopedia of the New American Nation, 2013) Pretty soon thereafter national arms systems were set upon the national armories. A network of reliable arms manufacturers emerged. Contracts were drawn up between these armories and private manufacturers, who were more likely to test new means and materials to improve guns. This was key to an ideal system of arms production. This was the beginning of the military industrial complex. It was here that the desire for an innovative military arms snowballed into the high tech industry that it is today. Tacitus defines racein very broad sense, drawn from how he depicts Germans in contrast to Romans. We see that geography and culture play a large role, although they differ slightly from tribe to tribe, many maintain similar customs. Through the Germania, we see that Tacitus differentiates race on the basis of physical appearance, lifestyle, and regard for women. One of the more obvious indications of racial difference, is seen through physical characteristics. Tacitus praises in the fact that their bloodlines are so pure due to the fact they never intermarried with outsiders, He goes on to say that the lack of immigrants to Germany may be due to the fact that land there is undesirable to live on, and so immigration to Germany was ostensibly unheard of. Anger And Forgiveness In The Film Smoke Signals In the film Smoke Signals written by Sherman Alexie, anger and forgiveness play a major part in the lives of the Native Americans who live in the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Forgiving oneself or forgiving others proves to be a hard battle to conquer. As you view throughout the movie the changes that take place in each character, think about yourself and what feats you have overcome with anger and forgiveness. The main characters in the film include Arnold Joseph, Victor Joseph, Thomas Builds the fire, and Suzy Song. There are multiple areas within the film where offering forgiveness would hold the key to finding inner peace, the question is do any of the characters actually reach inner peace? Arnold Joseph battles within his own conscience throughout the film and it isn t obvious whether he ever forgives himself for what he did. Victor Joseph goes through life with a lot of anger towards his father, Arnold. He struggles to forgive him for abandoning him as a child, for his alcoholism, and the physical abuse him and his motherwere subjected to. Victor also shows anger towards Thomas Builds the fire because of their differing views of Arnold Joseph. The only one who doesn t express anger and is very forgiving is Thomas Builds the fire. He of all people has a right to be angry, after all, he has lost the most at the hands of another, whether on purpose or by accident. But, he goes through life as a happy go lucky person, an imaginative storyteller, and above all a caring individual to others. Interesting enough, the character who changes the most as the movie goes on is Victor Joseph. It isn t easy for him to forgive, but, as he grows as a person and learns the truth about his fathers actions he eventually finds peace. The setting for the majority of the movie takes place at the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation in Idaho, but changes when Thomas and Victor travel together to Arizona later in the movie. The continually rising fuel costs are not the only driving force in the changes of demand by the American people. People are also much more environmentally friendly which has recently been a steering force for American consumers away from the traditionally owned pick up trucks and sport utility vehicles. American manufacturers have also been able to improve the market and its structure through technology such as electric cars and hybrid technology, which are proving to be factors in the changing and evolution of the automotive industry landscape (Wayland, 2013). • 34. Impact Of The World Trade Organization ( Wto ) On The... Few environmentalists have positive things to say on the impact of the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the environment. WTO legal obligations are frequently cited as the most significant impediment to a range of environmental initiatives, including notably meaningful international coordination to combat climate change, particularly through carbon tax initiatives, and imposition of electronic waste disposal export bans. In this vein, adverse findings of WTO dispute panels on environmental conservation measures tend to attract the ire of international civil society. The tensions between liberal trade and environmental protection can be traced back to the days of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) of 1947, which pre dated the WTO. Under the GATT 1947, trade and environment disputes tended to be resolved through diplomatic channels. The WTO Agreements were intended to provide a more predictable and legalistic means by which to resolve such disputes, in exchange for deeper commitments on domestic regulation, a domain historically deemed off limits to international disciplines. Two of these agreements in particular, the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) and the Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement), introduced binding disciplines with serious implications for domestic environmental decision making, a subset of domestic regulation. The expectation was that the depolitization of WTO disputes would afford more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ohm s Law Series Circuits Name Institution Course Instructor 10 February 2017 Lab Report: Ohm s Law Series Circuits Introduction Theory: Ohm s law defines the relationship between three important electrical properties namely: voltage, current and resistance. Mathematically, ohm s law is expressed as: V=IR. By understanding the importance of conduction, one is able to determine the total resistance and visualize how resistors are connected in parallel circuits. In parallel connection, each resistor provides a separate path for current [I] so that the total resistance of a parallel circuit is reduced as more resistors are connected in parallel. • 44. Application Of Magnetic Polymer Nanocomposites Abstract Magnetic polymer nanocomposites have attracted broad interest for hyperthermic cancer treatment because they are non toxic, biocompatible, and can be remotely heated by alternating magnetic fields. The magnetic induction heating behavior provides a great benefit in biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery, and magnetic separation. In situ formation of an organic or polymer layer on their surface is one of the efficient methods for decreasing the aggregation between the nanoparticles, as well as providing functionality on the surface and allowing further functionalization with drugs and therapeutic agents. The most challenging task in hyperthermia is to maximize the specific absorption rate (SAR) with a lower ferrofluids dose. Magnetic nanoparticles coated with polymer layer combine the unique magnetic properties of multi functional nanoparticles with self heating property. In addition, it is easier in preparation by a one pot process. The formation of the nanoparticles with a higher SAR makes it a promising in hyperthermia cancer treatment. 1. Introduction The outstanding potential of magnetic polymer nanocomposites stems from the ability to obtain structures with the combinations of properties that neither individual material possesses. In approaching myth, the reader must enter into the world of the creators of the myth, instead of attempting to impose their own societal beliefs and expectations on it. In short, we need to read the myth in imitation of how the myth was originally received. In the myth of Exodus, a monotheistic system of worship was needed in order to create a unified nation with one god. Exodus attempts to provide an explanation for this movement away from the traditional polytheistic religion. Lauri Honko says in her essay, The Problem of Defining Myth , ...myths can be characterized as ontological: they are incorporated and integrated into a coherent view of the world, and they describe very important aspects of life and the universe (Dundes 51). God begins the Ten Commandments with admonishment to keep Him above all other gods, I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me (Exodus 20:1 3). In this passage, God reminds Moses that God is supreme above all other gods and he reminds Moses of the miracle he has performed in bringing the people out of Egypt. The ... It was a bright sunny day in Anaheim California, and my friends Ruben, Sassan and I were just arriving at the theme park. We were all so excited to spend the day messing around between parks; especially considering the fact that we got in for free! Ruben s mom works at Disneyland, which is how we were able to get in for free. Disneyland is only one theme park, but there are so many different things going on throughout the whole park it is hard to grasp. Throughout the entire theme park, it is divided between handfuls of different sections. Main Street, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Toon town, Adventureland, Frontierland are all... • 57. An Evaluation Of A Company At This Time First of all, I am glad to inform you that I am thrilled to be advising your company at this time. Thus, I would do my very best to help the company to perform at its best. In order to accomplish this, first I would like to introduce the current economic, politics, and the social conditions in Japan to help the company to decide whether or not it should invest money in this country. This information is crucial in business because all these three factors mentioned above play a significant role for private businesses to be successful in certain countries. Therefore, I would like to start this advisement with the economic situation in Japan since this is the most important of all three. Initially, for investor companies, the economic conditions of the country that the firm is investing is vital. For example, an investment for Zimbabwe is not going to be a great decision. Zimbabwe is a country surrounded by a myriad of problems. For instance, Zimbabwe s GDP has declined by 38 percent between 1998 and 2003 (Raftopoulos, 2015) also the inflation in Zimbabwe is enormous that the price of consumer items like meat and clothes rose by 223 percent in a week (Wines, 2007). This economic condition can be readily understood that the economy in Zimbabwe is highly unstable; therefore, the investment will be a poor decision. On the other hand, the economy in Japan is quite stable. Japan is one of the biggest exporters in the world also they have they third largest GDP. However, after the ...
