The Americans were also going to drop their paratroopers behind the
German front lines on the Cherbourg Peninsula.
The American paratroopers were from the 82nd Airborne Division and from the
101st Airborne Division. The paratroopers were to cut off any supply line to the
front lines and prevent any reinforcements from reaching the beaches of Normandy.
The order was given on the night of June 5, 1944 to launch the paratroopers. The
paratroopers were sent in first so that they could drop under the cover of the night.
The paratroopers were plagued with cloudy skies and some anti aircraft fire. Some of
the paratroopers were shot down while they dropped from the skies. Most of the
paratroopers that did survive the jump missed their intended drop zones. During the
first hours of the assault their was confusion among the soldiers, but then the troops

From birth, three basic necessities are recognized as vital in order to sustain life,
those being clothing, shelter, and food (which also includes water). With these three
basic requirements met, a human can survive. However surviving and living one s
life fully as a human are separate things, and the question must be asked does the
limitation of food to the bare minimum required to continue sustaining one s body
begin to also impinge on one s humanity (which for the purposes of this paper will be
defined as the entire humanexistence, physically, emotionally, and otherwise) in a

A Black Iago Othello is, in the opinion of many, one of Shakespeare s most prolific
plays. It broke the mold by assigning the lead protagonist role to a black man, and
the central love story is of that between this older black man and a young white
woman. Othello has perhaps the most wicked and likable villain in all of
Shakespeare s work. It has love both fulfilled and unrequited, family conflict,
rebelling daughters, paranoia, manipulation, war, revelry, betrayal, and homicide.
Iago, the villain, has a gift for twisting events to appear the way he wishes them to.
He is clever and scheming, often comedic, and serves himself above all others. He
knows no loyalties, even to his spouse, that supersede those to his own interests.
What makes him so likable is that he so wholly embraces this aspect of himself.
What makes Iago so heinous is that his motivations for his scheming are never really
clear. One theory is that he believes his wife to have been unfaithful to him with
