During the Second Red Scare the Hollywood Ten were a group of ten actors, directors, and producers
who according to Senator Joseph Mccarthy had communist ties and were trying to spread Soviet
Propaganda through American society by way of media. Even though these actors may have had slight
ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be blacklisted from all of media after
the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his novel, to show the unfairness of these trials.

The first teacher, who also happens to be my Subject Mentor, is a very experienced staff member, he
has known the students since they started the school in Year 7, and hence he has a personal
relationship with them. Because of this, he is able to joke around with them and therefore be slightly
