This is an account of what happened in that alley in 1847. There was a cat. Yes, a cat.
Doesn t seem like much of a big deal, does it? Well, it was, for that cat was a good cat
, and one day, that cat would help millions of other cats in need.
The cat, whose name was Vigo, had started out as any common ginger tabby cat, but
what people didn t know is that cat had a knack for mischief. It enjoyed stealing
from people for fun, and it mostly stole food due to the fact that most of the cats in
England had been deprived of food by the people. The cat always hated people.
Why don t they just go somewhere else to get food? thought Vigo. I mean, why do
they have to take our food? Are they too lazy to travel to a different place to get
food? And why can t they share food with us? Vigo always pondered this question. It
wasn t until three years later that he found the answer.
On December 17, 1850, Vigo and his father, David, were taking a walk through the
streets of England when a man nearly ran them over with his bike. Hey! shouted
Vigo. But the man didn t hear them. He zoomed away, pedaling so hard that a
small, beige box fell from his bike. Be careful, said David, but his son wasn t
