1. Compare And Contrast College Essay Topics
Crafting an essay on "Compare And Contrast College Essay Topics" presents a unique set of
challenges that require careful consideration and analysis. The difficulty lies not only in the
complexity of the topic itself but also in the need to strike a balance between providing
insightful comparisons and contrasts while maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative.
Firstly, selecting suitable college essay topics for comparison requires thorough research and a
deep understanding of the subject matter. Identifying topics that share commonalities and
differences can be a daunting task, as it demands a keen eye for detail and an ability to discern
meaningful connections. The challenge intensifies when aiming to choose topics that resonate
with the intended audience, ensuring that the comparisons are relevant and thought-provoking.
Once the topics are selected, the essay must navigate the delicate task of drawing meaningful
parallels and distinctions. This involves delving into the intricacies of each subject, exploring
their nuances, and presenting a balanced perspective. The challenge lies in avoiding a mere
listing of facts and instead weaving a narrative that demonstrates a comprehensive understanding
of the chosen topics.
Maintaining coherence and flow throughout the essay is another hurdle to overcome. The writer
must ensure that the comparisons and contrasts seamlessly integrate into a cohesive whole,
allowing readers to follow the logical progression of ideas. This requires a skillful use of
transitions and a clear organizational structure, which adds an additional layer of complexity to
the writing process.
Moreover, the essay must go beyond surface-level observations and delve into deeper analysis.
Crafting insightful arguments and drawing meaningful conclusions based on the identified
comparisons and contrasts demands critical thinking and a nuanced understanding of the subject
matter. This analytical depth elevates the difficulty of the writing task, as it requires the writer to
demonstrate a level of intellectual rigor that goes beyond mere description.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Compare And Contrast College Essay Topics" is a
challenging endeavor that demands careful topic selection, in-depth research, skillful comparison,
and thoughtful analysis. The complexity lies not only in navigating the intricacies of the chosen
topics but also in presenting the information in a coherent and engaging manner. Despite these

2. Gentlemen Of Rio En Medio Analysis
In the story of Gentlemen of Rio en Medio an old man had 8 acres of land that he
wanted to sell to somebody for a small amount but just the land not the trees in the
farm. But little did he know that he had double that amount which was 16 acres. The
family that was buying the land wanted to pay double for the 16 acres because he
did not know but he did not let them do that. The familydid not know that when you
own your own land there are many responsibilities to it. When owning your own
land you must cut and keep it looking good so that people would want to buy the
land. You must nourish it to keep it looking fresh and new or the grass will die and
then the animals that eat the grass will die and the land will be considered as dead.
You must also look for anything that could possibly harm the value of the land or
even harm the landowner. In the story the old man sells the land to the family but
there is a problem. The family bought the land but the neighborhood kids are always

3. African Imperialism DBQ
European powers shamelessly exploited the people and resources of Africa in the
19th century. They often tried to justify their actions by using ideology, religion and
moralism. After the end of the African slave trade, the development of steam power,
and medical discovery, European nations started exploring not only the coast but also
the unmapped interior of the continent. In this essay, I will explain the main driving
forces behind African Imperialism. The Western europeans countries all competed for
land and resources because of their self interest. They sought natural resources, and
technology gave them the ability to exploit them. The philosophy of national pride
however, was the primary reason. (Main document) (Doc C, D B)
The technical advances in the early and middle part of the 19th century enabled
Western European powers to exploit imperial objectives in Africa. Among these
advances were the steam engine, extraction of quinine, invention of the telegraph,
steal processing and improved weaponry. The steam engine was important in
increasing the speed and reliability of transportation. Extracting quinine from the
bark of the cinchona tree helped treat malaria; a mosquito borne disease that killed
thousands; it was now possible to survive in the interior of Africa. The telegraph was
invented in 1837 and allowed fast communication over long ... Show more content on

These countries wanted their most worthy citizens to be part of their imperial
desires, which lead to a philosophy of their ideals, religion and morals being

this, local cultures often destroyed, and people lost a sense of their identity. (Doc

Early Life St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Edith Stein) was born on October 12,
1891 in Berslau, Germany in a large family. She was the youngest of 11 children
and was born on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Hebrew calendar. In a home
where her mother encouraged critical thinking, She was a very gifted child who
enjoyed learning, greatly admired her mother s strong religious faith. Father of
Edith, who ran a timber business, died when she had only just turned two. Her
mother, a very devout, hard working, strong willed and truly wonderful woman,
now had to fend for herself and to look after the family and their large business.

was going to have an intimate conversation. It was something I never forgot.
6. The Nuclear Disaster at Chernobyl Essay
Every Year, The United States is faced with the threat of a Nuclear disaster or
equipment failure. Since the demand for energy increases, the federal government
and private companies are forced to create more chemical plants. Further, each plant
in operation poses an immediate threat to the drinking water and land around the area.
According to the Energy Information Administration, America s energy consumption
in 2011 was thirteen times greater than it was in 1950. Currently, there are at least 65
active nuclear plants that operate within 31 states. With energy usage increasing at an
alarming rate, the likelihood of a nuclear disaster occurring is a reality. It is important

There is always risk involved when handling nuclear threats. Sometimes human
error is to blame for emergency shutdowns. On March 22, 1975, In Alabama, a
massive fire took place at Browns Ferry Nuclear reactor. The fire was caused by an
electrical inspector s leaving a candle too close to foam rubber while checking to
see if the crew plugged the air leaks correctly within the cable room. The fire spread
quickly, causing the alarms to sounds and the reactor to fail. As a result of his
actions, the pressure system was destroyed, causing air to rush in the reactor, and the
core was almost exposed. Control rods were able to help shut the reactor down and
fire extinguishers were used to control the fire.
Major disasters can happen anywhere in the world. Further, intelligence sharing,
freelance journalists, and News networks, allows for the damage of isolated disasters
to be viewed in every country. Sensationalized incidents such as the Chernobyl
disaster in Ukraine, highlights a systemic failure within government due to its failure
to regulate private companies. Public outcry from the disaster prompts world leaders
to make immediate changes within its emergency disaster guidelines.
During the Chernobyl disaster, Simple errors such as a Faulty structure design within
the reactors, mechanical failure in a cooling system or reduced air pressure, and
human error created an environment for a meltdown to occur. Without the proper
emergency features,

Edith Wharton s The Age of Innocence
I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart. You broke my heart. These eternal
words spoken in Francis Ford Coppola s The Godfather reflect the importance and
prevalence of family allegiances. These allegiances transcend many different cultures,
societies and environments. Every society has its own Fredo : the social outcast
whose decisions make him or her the center of attention in society, and whose family
allegiances complicate everything. We can see such a prototype for a character in
Countess Olenska, the main character in Edith Wharton s The Age of Innocence.

They like their theaters small and inconvenient, [in order to] keep out the new
people (3). This exclusive nature demonstrates the importance of family allegiances
in their society; all families were tied together, and as such any member who
deviated from their particular family would stain the reputations of all the others,
thus hindering their social life. The members of Old New York society are obsessed
with propriety and will do anything to avoid controversy. This was the society in
which Countess Olenska was assimilated after her separation from her European
husband and her return to New York. This is one of the first indications in the text of
Countess Olenska facing very difficult circumstances because of family allegiances
(in this case the intra family allegiance of marriage). Countess Olenska commits the
ultimate act of intra family rebellion: separation. While through the frame of family
allegiance we can see that the Countess is faced with a very dire decision of
separating despite family pressures and may seem powerless, when we look closer
we can see how much control she really has. Countess Olenska knew the
consequences of her separation, yet she decided to continue anyway. She puts her
own well before everything else. Her defiance sets her up as a strong and
independent woman, and the frame of family allegiance that was meant originally to
hold her back and show her as being weak actually makes her look stronger for
fighting the

4. The Renaissance and Reformism
The reformation, owing both to the wishes of its academic founders and to the
popular tendencies underlying it, concerned itself largely with popular preaching. It
is a widespread error to assume that there was little popular preaching in the Middle
Ages. It is true that there were many bishops and parish priests who shirked their
canonical duties in this respect, but there was much popular instruction; there was,
especially among the friars, much simple, at times even sensational, mission
preaching. But the deepening of religious life that preceded the reformation led men
to employ with greater diligence all means of helping others, and popular preaching
was thus more widely used. Here again, both a conservative and a revolutionary
tendency are observable. On the one hand, we can trace the fuller but continuous
history of the older use of sermons. On the other hand, we find the tendency, seen at
its strongest in Zwinglianism, to exalt the sermon above the sacraments, to put the
pulpit in place of the altar. Both tendencies made the literature of sermons more
popular, and more significant. But, in the literature thus revived, the
9. Demarco Murray Case Study
Does Demarco Murray want back in Dallas? Reports are starting to surface that
Demarco Murray reportedly wants back with his former team, the Dallas
Cowboys. According to Bleacher Reports Jason Cole, NFL executives believe
Murray wants the Philadelphia Eagles to cut him so he can make his return to
Dallas. Murray went right over Chip Kelly s head after Sunday s 35 28 win to the
New England Patriots, a game where Murray only received 8 touches for a
whopping 8 touches for 24 yards. On the flight home, Murray expressed his
displeasures to Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Murray seems to be using
Lurie as an angle to talk his way out of Philadelphia, considerably given that the
meeting was first leaked to Werder, who just happens to be a Dallas based reporter.

With the Cowboys, Murray was last year s rushing leader with 1,845 yards rushing
and 13 rushing touchdowns. This year with the Eagles? Murray has 569 yards and
only 4 rushing touchdowns in 11 games. Take that into account with Ryan
Matthews and Daren Sproles being used in the offense. It s a recipe for disaster.
The most probable scenario in which Murray returns to Dallas involves being cut
by the Eagles. From a financial standpoint, that just doesn t make sense. If the
Eagles were to release Murray, they would lose $13 million in cap space. If Dallas
were to resign Murray, that would have to eat off the contract, a huge part in why
they parted ways with Murray in the first

11. Bobo Doll Experiment
Background
Phobias are a type of anxiety disorder that causes people to persistently become
extremely irrational and strongly avoid/object a particular thing or situation when in
their presence. The causes of phobias are still largely unknown, but what we do
know is we all have fears in some shape or form; whether it be a common phobia
such as: animals, insects, reptiles, the dark, acrophobia (heights), drowning, micro
phobia (germs), claustrophobia (closed spaces); or something less common such as:
fear of rain or fear of beards.

consisted of children from the age s three to six being split and put into three
separate rooms with a bunch of toys and an adult, in which they observed how the

adult acting aggressively towards a toy called the bobo doll. When it was time for
the children to individually go back in the room to play, the majority of the
children reciprocated what they saw the adults doing. Another set of children were
placed in a room and observed to a non aggressive model (adult) where the model
played with everything but the Bobo doll. When the children were placed in the
room, the majority of them acted in the same manner as the adult previously in the
room. Lastly, another set of children were put into a room without any sort of model;
they played accordingly without any influence. In relation to my survey, six out of
ten people stated how they have witnessed a bad experience happen to someone and
later took on that phobia. In conclusion, I believe the Bobo experiment supports my
hypothesis of how phobias can be inherited by influence instead of by

When plague turned up the old system followed the then methods of observation and

The Panopticon is a building which has an annual part in the periphery and a tower in

emotional connections with customers. In johnson johnson s baby powder, the
ingredients are talc and fragrance, while Walgreens baby power is made of talc and
fragrance as well. However, the former price is $2 higher than the later. That s the

15. Miss Brill Character Analysis
An Analysis of the Characterization of Miss Brill In Miss Brill, Katherine Mansfield
utilizes Miss Brill s thoughts and actions and the surroundings to characterize Miss
Brill as a lonely character. Mansfield immediately introduces Miss Brill with a very
odd scene that shows her conversation with the fur coat. This quickly and effectively
establishes the type of person Miss Brill is. As a result, Mansfield suggests that Miss
Brill is a lonely and an abnormal person to illustrate to the audience how society
treats those who are not considered normal through the later actions of a young
couple.
Dear little thing! It was nice to feel [the fur coat] again. ... What has been happening
to me? said the sad little eyes (Mansfield 175).
This quote shows Miss Brill s loneliness. Rather than conversing with the people
around her, she decides to have a conversation with her fur coat, an inanimate object.
This contributes to the meaning of the book because this detail helps establish how
the story will continue and dictate how she and others will act, which serves as the
basis for the story s meaning.
[The old couple] did not speak. This was disappointing, for Miss Brill always looked
forward to the conversation (176).
This quote continues to reinforce the characterization of Miss Brill as a lonely
person because she does not seem to enjoy conversing with others. Instead, she
would rather observe and eavesdrop on other conversations and take joy as if it was
her own. This continues to contribute to the meaning by augmenting Miss Brill s
loneliness and implication that the old couple may not like her that much because of
her tendency to eavesdrop.
Oh, how fascinating it was! How she enjoyed it! How he loved sitting here, watching
it all! It was like a play. ... She was on the stage (177).
This quote shows again that Miss Brill takes joy in being an observer of her
surroundings. This suggests that she may be trying to distract herself from her
own loneliness because she tries to stay included and feel like she is a necessary
person who is an integral part of others daily lives. This contributes to the meaning
that society has a lack of care for these type of people because no one in the
surroundings really care

A Nursing Shortage and its Effects Many people think that nursing is a field where
jobs are always there. While this is true, right now it seems like there it a shortage
of nurses. Is there a shortage of nurses? What caused the shortage? Does the shortage
have any effects on the nurses? As I have been thinking about pursuing a career in
nursing, these questions are something I have been wondering myself. Throughout
this paper, I intend to discover and address all the reasons behind the shortage, and
the effects on the nurses themselves. First thing I am going to discuss is if there is

Yes there is a shortage of nurses today. Some of the causes of the shortage are
nurses are being overworked, schools aren t accepted enough students into programs,
and the students they do accept aren t getting qualified enough for the stress for the

people want to overcome the shortage. Efforts are being made to overcome the

17. Conflict In Freaks And Geeks
Freaks and Geeks is a show about the conflict s and pressure s of growing up. In
this series the teens face a number of conflicts such as trying to fit in, parental
control, and peer pressure. Lots of teenagers including myself have faced some of
these problems. Everyone deals with some kind of conflict while growing up it
just depends on how you decide to deal with it and make the best of it. This allows
me to tell you how I and other teens have faced and dealt with some of the same
problems that is shown on Freaks and Geeks.
The first conflict that they were faced with in Freaks and Geeks was trying to fit
in. I use to try to do things like a certain group of people such as wear the same
clothes or shoes to try to fit in. In the show, Lindsay tried to fit in by riding around

make you perfect like Lindsay s parents did or they may be just trying to protect

they don t agree with their parents because they feel like they are trying to control
them too much. Nick s dad was going to make him go to the military if he could

short stories such as, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings ; often grab readers in
many directions, and these short stories often are interpreted by many imaginations.
A graduate of Wayne State University, Tom Faulkner suggests, Several possible
interpretations arise, but most of them are clearly absurd, telling us more about the
villagers superstitions and beliefs than about the old man s true nature (Faulkner).
Faulkner makes for a great argument with this claim.
Many readers have also noticed that the author provides us with many details of the

20. After Life In Buddhism Religion
The respect of human life especially in its final stages is essential to respecting
human dignity. This essay seeks to provide an answer of the issue and mystery of
after life in Christianity and Buddhism religion and there thought of what afterlife
encounters for them.
In the Buddhism religion they believe death is the end of the body that they inhabit in
that life, however their spirit continues and seeks out through the need of attachment,
the attachment to a new body and a new life. A new life leads to a person being

Most believe in the idea of judgement after death, and that God will treat people in
the afterlife according to how they lived their life on earth. Christian beliefs about
the afterlife vary between denominations and individual Christians, but the vast
majority of Christians believe in some kind of heaven, in which the deceased enjoy
the presence of God and loved ones for eternity. Views differ as to what is required
to get to heaven, and conceptions of heaven differ as well. A slightly smaller
majority of Christians believe in hell, a place of suffering where unbelievers or
sinners are punished. Views differ as to whether hell is eternal and whether its
punishment is spiritual or physical. Some Christians reject the notion altogether.
Catholic Christians also believe in purgatory, a temporary place of punishment for
Christians who have died with unconfessed sins. Funeral services for Christians
are typically held in the church they were afflicted with, and the focus of the
service is usually on their religious life. During most Christian funerals, there is a
sermon, prayer, reading of scripture and singing hymns. It is also common for a
eulogy or funeral resolution to be read that details the religious life of the
deceased. A wake is sometimes held prior to start of a funeral service. This is a
time when close family members come together to view the body and offer
support to one another in their time of loss. Christians are typically in consecrated
ground, which is an area that has been blessed or a cemetery where other Christians
are buried. In the past, Christians were encouraged not to be cremated but to imitate
Jesus brutal in the tomb. However most Christian denomination now accept
cremation as an option. A brutal typically involves a graveside service where family
members are present for a sermon or scripture reading led by a pastor. This service is
usually held in addition
21. Mali Rise To Power Essay
During the thirteenth century in central Africa, an empire called Mali rose to power.
Throughout its time, outstanding ideas, people, and resources propelled the empire.
Under the rule of the Musas, Mali was a successful, gold centered empire. The
Empire of Mali thrived because of its location and, like other empires, rose to power
from military conquests. At its height, Maliexcelled because of strong leadership,
Trans Saharan trade, gold mining, and the spread of Islam.
The Empire of Mali was located in a vast, landlocked area along the Niger River. At
its largest, the empire covered 478,640 sq. mi., containing desert and semi desert
regions with scattered brush and grass. (Carson, 2017) The land near the Sahara
Desert had a dry climate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both imports and exports were taxed. Camel caravans carried people, ideas and
goods across the Saharan Desert to the region surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.
Gold was exported and salt was imported along this trade route. Salt was needed by
the Malians to preserve food, and gold was used in the Mediterranean as a
currency. As trade continued, a barter system was established where one pound of
gold became equal to one pound of salt. (Fortified Towns of the Trans Sahara
Trading Routes, 2017) Towns were built outside the desert and were used as supply
and fueling stations to make the three month journey less treacherous. Ivory, slaves
and leather goods were some additional exports from
22. History of Space Exploration
Introduction to the History of space exploration
To start the researching of the future of the space exploration the very first thing we
should do is to look through a history of this particular topic. The main reason for
this is because the history is a fundamental background for our understanding and
knowledge. Aeronautical engineering does not have a long and deep history,
compared to many things. Moreover, some information cannot be proved nowadays
and that is why the only one thing that we can do is to suppose and rely on
accessible sources.
Every year we are using more and more modern technologies in order to try to
explore our solar system, unknown planets and deep space. However, we should
think that our ancestors could not even believe that the physical space exploration
will ever become a reality since antiquity. (Aerospace, n.d.)
When we ponder over the early history of the space investigation we encounter the
unquestionable fact that it used to be mostly theoretical. For instance, Isaac Newton
established his book about the required mathematics knowledge for space exploring
in 1687 (BBC Isaac Newton, 2014). There are some other people, like a Swiss
scientist Leonhard Euler and Italian mathematician Joseph Louis Lagrange who were
undoubtedly necessary in the 18th and 19th centuries with their scientific works. In
spite of all the factors, aeronautics has not become a practical discipline until the
middle of the 20th century (Galileo Rice, n.d.).

23. Tissue Engineering Essays
Tissue Engineering
Tissue engineering, labeled by Time.com as the number one hottest job for the 21st
century, holds great potential for medicine and the treatment of chronic diseases and
disorders. With tissue engineering, familiar problems like the rejection of foreign
tissue by the body, the severe shortage of organ donors, and the inefficiency of
artificial devices may be solved. However, this cutting edge biotechnology has
already spurred intense controversy over the ethics and morality of creating spare
human body parts.
The goal of tissue engineering is to grow tissues and neo organs that can be used for
transplants. Tissue engineers must first decide what type of cell they want to use and
stimulate to grow. Because animal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to giving the growing cells a shape to grow into, the scaffold distributes
the cells about 2 3 mm apart and allows the cells better access to nutrients and
means of waste removal, which is important when trying to grow an evenly
distributed functioning organ. For larger, solid organs, such as the liver, pancreas,
and kidneys, blood vessels need to be created so the organs have adequate blood
supply. By covering the engineered organs with growth factors, angiogenesis, the
formation of new vasculature, can be prompted.
Although tissue engineers and researchers have already succeeded with creating
new skin, blood vessels, bone and cartilage, the more complex organs are difficult
to reproduce because of their different functions. Researchers must also be
concerned with the mechanisms of growing the tissue. For instance, the advantages
and disadvantages are not yet clear for the length of time the cells should be
exposed to the growth factors or the difference between growing the tissue outside
the body or implanting the scaffold inside the body and letting the tissue grow
there. Scaffolding and injectable polymers that form scaffolds in irregular areas
(like bone fractures) are also being improved. Much more research is being
conducted in order to grow the hearts, livers, breasts, kidneys, and other valuable
organs that so many people need.
Although tissue engineering has great application for helping ill patients, it
24. Essay on The Craftiness of Athena
Athena, the Greek goddess of both wisdom and war, is often considered the
craftiest of all Olympian gods. She was born of a headache, and erupted from Zeus
head fully armed and ready for battle. However, beside all this pomp, she is a rather
caring, if war loving, immortal. Throughout the entirety of The Odysseyshe conveys
an entirely platonic, almost motherly love for Odysseus. It is this that makes her
significant character in Homer s work. In The Odyssey, Athenais portrayed as a, if not

Odysseus and her frequent appearances she plays a major role throughout the entire

She herself conveys this attachment in her actions done to protect him, such as the
time he was caught in the storm cause by the wrath of Poseidon. The rest of the
winds she stopped right in their tracks, commanding them all to hush now, go to
sleep. (164) She does not allow harm to come to him, but instead defies her own
uncle s authority to punish. And beyond even this, she appears to him in person to
greet him on his return to Ithica. It is here where not only does she guide him with
a plan, but she, a goddess, extols him. Here among mortal men you re far the best at
tactics, spinning yarns... (296) She considers him to be plenty worthy of her
assistance. This constant direction and saving help gives her a frequency of
appearance in The Odyssey, making her a character at the forefront of the story. Also,
it is her help that progresses the story. She is the one that plans for Odysseus attack
on the suitors, and she often gives the people he encounters thoughts to help him
along. She gives strength to Nausicaa, Only Alcinous daughter held fast, for Athena
planted courage within her heart... (172), and plants in Penelope s head the idea for
the contest, The goddess Athena with her blazing eyes inspired Penelope... (424),
among many other occasions.
Odysseus himself recognizes that his journey would have been impossible if it
25. Why Business Matters To God Analysis
Historically the what, where, when, and how of culture has been a struggle of
Christianity in an individual and corporate capacity (Solomon, 1992). Should
Christians ignore, isolate or transform culture? A classic study regarding these
questions was completed by theologian Richard Niebuhr (Niebuhr) in his book,
Christ and Culture. However, Jeff Van Duzer (Van Duzer), author of Why Business
Matters to God, combines Niebuhr s philosophy and Christian business ethics. This
document will examine Niebuhr s typologies, the five types of Christian cultural
engagements from Dozer s Christian ethical business point of view.
Niebuhr s Typologies
Niebuhr s book has been the most influential and a major impact on contemporary
Christians discussions on culture regardless if they were from liberalism on the left
or fundamentalism on the right (Bauder, 2011). According to an observation by
Niebuhr, affluence and influenced tend to transform churches into denominations
(Bauder, 2011). He believed the church represents the lower social class which is
small, personal and inward looking while in contrast denomination represents the
accepted social order and appeals to the intellectual and ruling classes (Bauder, 2011).
Niebuhr suggests that the Church and denominations represent the relationship

Niebuhr s preferred solution to the problem. He wanted a position that could
recognize the cultural corruption, but visualize its potential as an aspect of creation
from which he called Christ the Transformer of Culture or conversionists (Bauder,
2011). The conversionists is concerned with converting the values and goals of the
secular culture into the service of the kingdom of God (Solomon, 1992). In addition,
the conversionists are concerned with culture renewal through Christ (Bauder, 2011).
They transvalue their inherited cultural tradition instead of rejecting it they redirect,
strengthen, and regenerate it (Lewis Anthony,

Furthermore, bondholder can sell it before its maturity dates when investor needs

investment increases your capital and income with offering less risk (Esme).
How and where bonds are issued and traded
The process of issuing bond is very complex, because typically bonds do not
directly involve issuers and public and involve large amount because of the sum.
The process involves three main groups: issuers, underwriters, and purchasers
(Chad). As I mentioned earlier, issuers are the corporations or government who
sell the bonds and borrow money from investors. Underwriters are the, who act as
an intermediary between issuers and investors, investment banks or other financial
institutions that helps issuers to sell their bonds. The good examples are going to
be major broker dealer firms like Goldman, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, etc.
Purchasers are the bondholders, who bought a bond and lend the money and
purchase the bond. Not like a stocks, bond investors do not have an access to bond
price right away. There is no such a thing that bond market is located in a building
and shows all the prices and changes show on the display. Basically, bond market is
combination of several numbers of extremely large bond dealers. The reason is there
is no quoted price for the bond for trade and it happened over the counter not in
exchanges.

The rise of Alexander the Great impact on the biblical word by making the Greek
language universal enabling the gospel to spread to other countries that did not
speak the Hebrew language. God uses the spread of the Greek and language to have
the New Testament translated into Greek so that everybody could read the bible and
not just Jews nor Greeks. (Galatians 3:28).
Alexander The Great is the son of Philip of Macedon. Who then later became the

30. Essay Review of Shrek
Review of Shrek In traditional fairy tales, ogres are man eating beasts; they are
regarded as being one of the most evil and hideous creatures in fairytales. The
prince is derived as a charming and handsome young man who is on a quest to rescue
a beautiful Princess who has been held captive for many years in a tall tower,
guarded by a fire breathing dragon, awaiting the arrival of a brave Prince.
The makers of Shrek have decided to reverse the tradition of a stereotypical fairy tale,
by creating a completely different story line while trying to incorporate some tradition
into the story.

The audience can now tell that this is not a conventional fairy tale.
In the third scene of the story, rewards are being given for the capture of fairy tale
creatures by Lord Farquaad s demand, as his orders are being carried out it gives the
impression that he is a very imposing ruler.
Many of the traditional fairytale creatures are visible in this such as the three bears,
Pinochio. Many of these fairy tale creatures use lines from there stories for example
baby bear (from the three bears) says my cage is far too small and starts crying.
A talking donkey is taken for trade by his owner. As the donkey refuses to talk the
lady who owns him is not given anything however when they drag her away she
kicks Tinkerbell (the fairy from Peter Pan) magic fairy dust goes on to the talking
donkey and he says I can fly. The gurads who have been ordered to capture the
fairytale creatureson behalf of Lord Farquaad, persue him in order to try and capture
him. As Donkey continues to run through the forest he bumps into Shrek. The gurads
catch up and the Commander reads a telegram written by Lords Farquaad demanding
that both Donkey and Shrek give themselves up to be captured.
The reaminaing members of the army apart from the commander are scared of Shrek
and all flee back this is again stereotypical as it
31. Examples Of Dehumanization In Metropolis
This weekend I watched on Netflix the film Metropolis (1927, Fritz Lang) and from
the film I have found some detailed examples about how the movie itself expresses
the German Expressionist theme of alienation/dehumanization resulting from the
industrial revolution that moved laborers from agriculture/farm life to factory life in
the city. The first example that relates to this theme would be when the movie
begins and the underground dwelling workers toil to operate the underground
machines that power the city while the higher class people are living better lives.
This stands out to the theme because it provided a vivid visual of the underground
dwelling workers working very hard to keep the city going and in return they weren t

32. Smooth Collies
The collie is a dog breed which is native to Scotland. The dogs were used for water
rescue, herders, guiding cows and sheep to market and for guarding the flock in
Scotland and England. The exact origin of its name is not known, but historians
think it comes from the word Colley which is a Scottish black faced sheep. There
are two types of collie: The rough and smooth collie. The only significant difference
between the two is the fact the rough collie has more hair than the smooth collie
which has a shorter hair and doesn t shed as much. The collie is most known for in
its role in Lassie .
The collie is large and lean dog. The top of the skull is flat and the eyebrows are
arched. Their eye color is dark brown except for the blue merles.

Slasher Horror Movies Vs Psychological Horror Movies Horror movies are the
equivalent of a roller coaster ride, but with more bang for the buck. (Kelleher.)
Horror movies scare you and give you thrills; thus, it can be split into categories
because horror movies can be completely each other. Slasher and psychological are
sub genres in horror movies. Both of the genre s goals are to scare you, but they do
it in different ways. To understand the differences, you need a general
understanding of the sub genres. Slasher movies tend to be following around a
masked murderer and a group of people. For instance, Every slasher has a killer. He
s usually male, and his identity is often concealed either by a mask or by creative
lighting and camerawork. (Harris.) Slasher is usually always with the killing of
each person one at a time. On the other side, psychological horror movies tend to
trigger things in your brain to make you scared. For instance, Psychological horror
is a sub genre that focuses on the darker side of the human psyche that s often
repressed. It also explores emotional and psychological vulnerabilities over primal
survival fears, (Lofberg.) Instead of making people jump, psychological horror
movies can make you feel exposed and even start second guessing things. Examples
of slasher movies are Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Examples of psychological horror are The Shining, Psycho, and The Sixth Sense. To
conclude, slasher and

Frederick Schleiermacher is considered to be the father of modern hermeneutics,
which is a branch of knowledge that interprets the meaning of the bible. Being an
influential philosopher, he has forged his own perspective of religion, God, and ethics
and mortality. According to Schleiermacher, there are many different valid forms of
religion; correspondingly he believed that God and mortality were inessential to
religion. Schleiermacher held a very strong belief in Kantian philosophy, however he
struggled with Kant s concept of moral law and transcendental freedom. He redefined
religion: based on an individual s consciousness, it had the capacity to sense the
infinite. An individual s consciousness must ignore all of the manifestations that

On December 5th, 1901 a legend is born, Walter Elias Disney became an icon in the
cartoon and children movie business. From the theme park in Orlando to the cartoons
on televisions across the nation, Walt Disney has engraved his name in history and in
many of our hearts as one of the most influential people in modern art.
Walt Disney was the fourth born to a poor family in Chicago Illinois. A few years
after he Walter was born the family moved to Marceline Missouri a town of about
two thousand people. While living in Marceline Walter started to develope his
love for drawing by copying the front page of his local newspaper as well as
making his own drawings and selling them to a retired doctor. In the year of 1918
Walt Disney tried to enlist in the armed forces but he was rejected to serve in a
combat position due to him only being sixteen at the time. Instead he went to France
and drove an ambulance for the Red Cross. During his time with the Red Cross he
grew in his artistic abilities by covering the ambulance with cartoons from the front to
the back. This was the start to what would become some of the greatest cartoons in
American history (WALT).

37. The Personality Assessment And The Time Management
Section
At the beginning of the term, I thought this cornerstone course would only be about
how to get through college. When I actually settled into the class I realized that it
focuses more on getting to know ourselves better and how we can apply that to
school and our everyday lives. Cornerstone has deepened my knowledge about myself
as an individual. Although there were many topics that I found fun and interesting in
this cornerstone class, there were two that really stood apart from the rest: the
personality assessment and the time managementsection. They were the two most
relatable subjects.
The personality assessment that I took within the first two weeks of school, I found
beneficial to me. There was no right or wrong answer to the test; it was just used to
measure my personality and behavioral styles. I answered the questions to the best of
my self knowledge.
The assessment was enjoyable since it did not make me feel judged in the
classroom when we were told to discuss our personality types in groups. To my
understanding, the scores are just to show what type of career will be most suitable
for me.
Also, in class I Professor Newhouse reviewed Psychological Functions/ Attitudes
(Jung). The graph that I drew provided me with a more detailed understanding in
exactly what the letters in the personality types mean. I learned that extrovert and
introvert is how one relates to the outside world, sensor and intuitive is how one
perceive and gather information, whether one is a

Symbolism played a fundamental role in the play as it was commonly used in the
most confronting, emotional points of the play, for example the police visit and the

issues in the play. Having a similar effect as rhetorical question in literature and

39. Taking a Look at the FTAA and the NAFTA
During the formative years of the FTAA between 1996 through 2005, the initial
negotiations saw little progress towards the overarching goal of removing trade
barriers with regards to services and goods. The FTAA was never meant to fuse the
economies of states of the Western Hemisphere, but instead help the movement of
free tradein the region, as countries were already initiating free trade agreements and
custom unions through bilateral or regional treaties, which allowed the building of
connections between North, South and Latin America. The FTAA was meant to
provide better organization towards this movement, even allowing a reduction in
uncertainty about the future course of trade and regulatory policies.
How come Latin America and the Caribbean countries reverse the discourse, after
decades of opposition to expansive trade ties with the United States? In most cases,
the reversal was caused by a mass wave of in national economic policies and
development strategies due to the failure of development from the 1960 s and 1970
s, the give way of debt finance due to the Latin American debt crisis of the 1980s,
and the pressures originating from the advance of globalization. The work initiated by
Mexico leaders would go on to pressure many Caribbean and Latin American
countries into wanting to join trade ties after the intiation of the North American Free
Trade Agreement.
NAFTA can be seen as the first step toward a hemispheric trade pact. Mexico leaders

40. The Institutional Transformation Of A Dictator s Worst...
A dictator s worst nightmare is their own people because the transformation of
institutions can threaten a dictator s grip over a nation, either leading to their brutal
crackdown on citizens or the forced removal of their regime. Citizens who are eager
for change can be the death knell of an oppressive regime. For Tunisia, former
president Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, like many other rulers, eventually faced this threat.
In 2011, the culmination of oppression and brutality led to the self immolation of the
young Tunisian street vendor, Mohamed Bouazizi. This triggered a multitude of
protests that spread not only throughout Tunisia, but to other nations which came to
be known as the Arab Spring, and to Tunisia, the Tunisian or Jasmine Revolution.
This paper examines the institutional transformations that occurred in Tunisia in
respects to why the change took place and how it has affected the country.
Specifically, Ben Ali s authoritative rule, what problems were associated with the
transition, and the aftermath of the revolution. To the world s surprise, a revolution
beginning in Tunisia seemed quite unlikely since comparatively, their governmentdid
not deprive its citizens of basic rights to the point of extreme oppression. This was
in large part due to Tunisia s economy being reliant upon tourism, and because a lack
of freedom would deter tourists thereby harming the economy, Ben Ali had to allow
people more freedom than he would have preferred. For a dictator, these new
41. Causes Of The Protestant Reformation
The Protestant Reformation is when Lutheranism and other Protestant religions split
from catholicism. This happened by Martin Luther posting 95 themes all over
churches to bring attention to how wrong the catholic church has turned. Some
examples of Protestant religions are Lutheranism, Anglican(church of England), and
Calvinism. The underlying causes for the Reformation is: the people of power in
the catholic church wanted a lot of money from the people, the pope had too much
power, and the catholic church did not like how the Protestant churches were being
run. Luther wanted to separate from the church because the church leaders got to
greedy for money. The priests and leaders of the catholic church started to make up
things such as selling indulgences which was basically pay the church to be forgiven
for your sins and your families sins. Document 4 says, They[pastors] fatten on the
sins of the people, this shows that pastors only cared for the fleece or money of the
people rather than actually caring for them. Another example that shows that the
catholic church cares for nothing but money is the fact that they got upset when
people spent money on things that did not necessarily matter. Document 8 is proof
that people were spending lots money on non holy things, the texts says, So much
money is going into the coffer of the vendor that new coins must be minted on the

spending their money. The text says Where is our gratefulness toward God...For so
many enslave all their senses to delights... . This made Luther want to create
Lutheranism because he felt that religion should not be about how much money one
has but rather their soul. The pope has too much power is another cause for the
Protestant Reformation. Document 2 is a play that has 2 people that talk about how
the pope has too much power. The characters, Peter and Julius, mention that the pope
is not to be punished for his bad deeds and that, he can cancel any canon[law] he does
not like, lastly they mention that the pope can cheat Christ with his laws, .These
quotes show that the pope has so much power that he can do whatever he wants.

42. Essay Buried Child
It s amazing what a secret can do to a person. Keeping secrets among friends can be
fun, or helpful when you need to confide in someone you trust. Other secrets can do
more harm than good. They can fester inside you and cause endless pain. In
amp;quot;Buried Child, amp;quot; this is the case. The family is permanently altered
by their secret, which becomes a growing moral cancer to them, leaving each
impotent in their own way.
The play takes place on Dodge s farm. About thirty years ago, the farm was fertile
and prosperous. Dodge and Halie didn t have a wonderful marriage, however. Things
took a turn for the worse when Halie became pregnant with someone else. It is
suggested that Tilden is the father. The evidence to support this... Show more content

even try to get it, just reach out and whine like a baby. He seems incapable of even
adult reasoning.
There is a major difference in the effect this impotence has on Bradley and Tilden.
While Bradley denies the truth, telling Tilden he doesn t know, he wasn t born yet,
Tilden is on an active search for the body of this child. Bradley wants the secret to
remain a secret. Tilden wants it out in the open, wants the closure, even if
subconsciously. That s why he finds corn, carrots, and potatoes out in the fields,
while Bradley and the others see only the rain.
The land represents the soul, and is fertile for Tilden because in his way he is
seeking to right this terrible wrong by revealing the child. When Tilden covers
Dodge with the corn husks, but leaves his head uncovered, he is covering him with
something good that the land, or in this case his maimed soul, has produced. He is
trying to help Dodge to realize that the truth must be told. Bradley comes into the
room and throws the husks off, shaves Dodge s head and cuts him while he is
helpless, like a punishment for the secret. Then he covers him up, head and all, with

In the 1960s, continuing affluence and cheaper building technology meant that
Australians could afford to pay for bigger homes. The addition of second bathrooms
and extra bedrooms became common. Many families built a family or rumpus room,
providing two living areas and some homes were air conditioned. As car ownership
increased, many new houses were built with a garage or carport. New building
materials like plastic paints, linoleum floor coverings and laminex kitchen benches
made household cleaning even easier.
Other designs had rooms being extended rather than being added. The picture
provided below showcases an example where the bedroom and laundry being viable

The modest modern Australian home is at least twice the size of the post war model.
It used to be possible to buy a house for three times your annual salary, now it s nine
times. And where once home was about shelter and security, now it s also a means of
accumulating wealth and status for which many are finding it impossible to pay12
Housing is a national crisis issue and the professional solution has priced itself
beyond the reach of the majority of citizens.(Archer) To own a house implies
commiting oneself to a mortgage and guaranteed income level for the majority of one
s working life.
Remarkably, no matter how high the prices go, the Australian Dream endures.
Successive Australian Governments have kept it alive by providing special grants to
first home buyers and generous tax incentives to new investors12

44. The Compiratory Process Of Freshwater Fish And Saltwater
Fish
water fish and saltwater fish are fully aquatic animals. Fully aquatic mean that both
freshwater fish and saltwater fish will die shortly if they are taken out of water
(Anderson et al, 2016).. Like most vertebrae, fish primarily require oxygen for
metabolism. However, fish cannot obtain oxygen from air directly. Fortunately, water
contains significant amount of dissolved oxygen. Fishobtain their oxygen from water
through their gills (Grantly, Hastings Walker, 2015). Both freshwater fish and
saltwater fish have gills. Therefore, the respiratory process for freshwater fish and
saltwater fish is similar.
Besides their similar respiratory process, both freshwater fish and saltwater fish are
cold blooded. The physiological process of cold bloodedness means that fish can
survive in a wide range of temperatures without necessarily keeping their internal
body temperatures constant (Anderson et al, 2016). Both saltwater and freshwater
ecosystems experience fluctuations in temperatures whereby water warms during the
day and cools during the night depending on the sun s intensity. Therefore, both
freshwater fish and saltwater fish can survive in both warm and cold aquatic
conditions.
Also, both freshwater fish and saltwater fish have fins. Surviving in the aquatic
ecosystem requires the ability to move from one place to another either in search of
food or while running away from predators. Fins provide the means through which
fish can maneuver easily and speedily in their aquatic

Once you step in the batters box, your mind focuses on putting the ball in play. It
gets more difficult the more you think about it and think about the physics. The
pitcher stands 60 feet and 6 inches away on the mound looking at you, standing on
an 10 inch (25 cm) rubber above the home plate. You stand at the plate knowing to
might face a 95 to 100 mph fastball speeding at you with no force to stop it but the
swing of the bat. (Seedlink. 2009) You have less than 2.5 seconds to decide on what
pitch is coming at you and on whether to swing or not. Baseballis one of the most
demanding sports for hand eye coordination. Hitting a 9.25 inch circumference ball
with a 2.75 inch diameter round bat is one of the most challenging things an athlete...

The key is the seams of the baseball ,the ball is covered with two pieces of leather
that are stitched together with red cotton that creates of 108 stiches that hold the
ball together. Each pitch is thrown a different way and has a certain motion the ball
travels. Your legs, back, and shoulders are key in pitcher in a constant
pitching.(Planetseed. 2004) A flip of the wrist can cause the baseball to curve,
slide, or dive down over the plate. Most pitchers are different but the sane pitches
can get the same batters. Most of pitching has to do with your body but it also has
to do with balance, in order to pitch well. The lower body and the flick of the wrist
really have to do a lot with becoming a good pitcher. When the baseball leaves the
pitchers hand , the baseball is influenced by three main forces: gravity, drag, and
the Magnus force. The gravity pulls the baseball downward, the drag slows down
the baseball for certain pitches requiring the ball to travel slower, and last the
Magnus force all depends on how you pitch the baseball. As the baseball spins in
its flight through the air, pressure variations form on it and the Magnus effect
generates a force perpendicular to the motion of the ball in the direction of the spin
of the baseball.(Howstuffworks. 2003) Baseball is a complex sport and takes a lot of
thinking and skill to be able to be

47. Spiders Essay
Spiders
Spiders can be found in all environments throughout the entire world, except in the
air and sea. (Biology of Spiders, R.Foelix) These invertebrates of the order Aranea
are one of the several groups of the Class Arachnida, with about thirty four thousand
species.
They range in body size from only a few millimeters in length to almost five inches.
All are carniverous and have four pair of walking legs, one pair of pedipalps, and one
pair of chelicerae. (Spiders, W.Shear) Each chelicerae consists of a base and a fang.
The fang folds up inside of a groove in the base until needed when attacking food,
then moves out to bite and releases venom from a tiny opening at its end as it
penetrates the prey. (Biology Of Spiders, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some spitting spiders that have only six, and there are some with only
two or four eyes. Some cave spiders have no eyes at all and rely only on vibration.
There are great differences in the ways which spiders capture prey. Some may
stalk their prey, while others may lie in wait and ambush it. Other spiders may
weave various types of webs used to capture passing prey, and there are some
smaller commensal spiders that live in larger spiders webs and feed on the smaller
insects neglected by their host. (The Spider Book, J.Comstock)
All spiders spin silk, though not all of them weave webs. Silk is most commonly
seen used in forming webs, which may vary from a highly elaborated orb of
spiraling threads to a single sticky string. Most webs can be placed into one of four
different types: the orb webs, the funnel webs, tangle webs, and the sheet webs. The
main purpose of a web is for catching prey. With orb weavers (Araneidae), the spider
will first form a supporting structure of frame threads to which it will then add on
radial threads.
(Biology of Spiders, R.Foelix) These tightly strung threads provide quick access to
any where on the web, and also carry any vibrations from the outer perimeter to the
center.
(The Spider Book, J.Comstock) After the innitial threads are placed, the spider will
build on a catching spiral made of sticky silk. These spirals will be what capture and
snare prey until the spider is able to reach it and inject it with its

Intech office where they work, the depressed Peter despises his job and his work
life, as well as his abusive and unfair boss, Bill Lumbergh whom has just hired two

his coworkers, as their jobs are at risk, which upsets them all even more than they

49. The Department Of Juvenile Justice
The Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) appointed a new commissioner at the
beginning of 1983, at this time the department was facing many organizational issues.
The state legislature had previously passed legislation affecting the environment in
which the organization operated affecting the population it was originally intending
to serve. Internally the DJJ faced many challenges involving organizational goals,
routines, engaged staff, and new leadership. It is recommended that the organization
take actions to adjust to the environment and align its goals with the new legislature.
The newly appointed commissioner should adjust her managementtowards a task
orientated leadership until the critical director and staff positions are fulfilled. Once
the department directors are in place, directives can be established to develop
department routines. Hired management can then enforce standard operation
procedures as needed to optimize the performance of the organization.
Service Population and State Regulation
A change in service population at Spofford was a result of new legislation passed in
1978. Public concern and legislature in New York had a significant impact on the
Department of Juvenile Justice; Spofford was to absorb serious juvenile offenders
due to the Juvenile Offender Act. This resulted in a shift of the service population
from status offender to include more serious juvenile offenders (Varley, 1987, p. 6).
This change in legislation and youth population

The early sombre sky was dominated by charcoal swirls of clouds heavily hovering

remote from the constant attention of the nurses, hands gripped tightly onto the

The woman clenched onto the watch firmer as her body shivered and beads of
sweat formed under her lifeless silver mane. She had long forgiven the man but it
was only now when the nurse had told her that the illness had left her heart
obsolete that she began to resent him for the gift of the imprecatory watch
Cyclops. The watch had never waited for her, instead the mechanical hands, blindly
and lawlessly like Cyclops had always haunted her to work, never permitting her to
experience the little things in life the little things that she had so desperately
desired for with her father. Her rudimentary lifestyle had amounted her life to
merely a bank account with the monthly transfer from her children and a husband
who has left to the company of another woman. While she fought for momentary
recognition, she had lost her family. She was no longer the naive girl who
fantasised and dreamt of exploring the world or writing a memoir of her
extraordinary life, she was now an obsolete crone who had aged beyond the natural
lifespan. While her heart beats stubbornly against her bent frame, the tale of her life
can be seen through the facet of creases over her coffee stained skin that sagged and
tightened in all the odd
