Military Tactics During Ww1
Tactics were the most important element within the nature of warfare during the World Wars. Military
tactics is the organisation of a military force and majorly determined how they would engage and
defeat an enemy in battle. Physically, in comparing the two wars and their tactics, it is evident that
WW1 s tactics were distributed in a more defensive way such as the Gallipoli campaign, trench
warfare, Schlieffen plan and Plan 17 in comparison to WW2 s offensive strategies such as blitzkrieg,
island hopping and airplane bombing.
Many tactics and military plans during WW1 were created in an attempt to break the stalemate
between the two sides caused by trench warfare. The Gallipoli campaign was a prime example of this
aiming to resume a war of movement. Neither side gained ground, but both sides lost millions of
soldiers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The trenches were created as a defence mechanism put in place to provide protection to soldiers
during enemy attack. This tactic began as barely small dirt hills which overtime was transformed into
a complex trench system, with the main sections being frontline, support line and communications. As
displayed in source A, typical trench systems were a major part of the nature of warfare within WW1.
These trenches were a defence mechanism, put in place to provide protection to soldiers during enemy
attack. The zigzag trench pattern visible in Source A, prevents infiltrating enemy troops from firing
down the complete length of trench lines, additionally helping prevent the spread of gas

How Does The Context Of Production Influence The Nature Of...
This afternoon on the poetry network live we examine two famous pieces on war from different eras,
these pieces are The Charge of the Light Brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson and The Fool Rings His
Bell by Walter de la Mare.
The purpose of this afternoons show is to answer the question of how does the context of production
influence the nature of poetry?
When it comes to poetry war is an often reoccurring theme. Many poems have been written in times of
crisis when literal expression is the only way to make meaning of the madness.
For the best part of the last century, the theme of war has been dominated by negative connotations
and portrayals depicting quite realistically the atrocity and futility of war. We have ANZAC day, our
annual reminder of the sacrifice of war. When even one of our soldiers pays the ultimate price in a tour
of duty the nation mourns. Any band with an appreciable life span has sung a protest song. Be it from
the television, the radio, the internet or the newspaper the message remains the same; war is bad.
But it wasn t always like this. Back in the good old days when armies fought in ordered lines on far
away fields and shot, hacked and charged each other until there was only one side left standing war
was segregated from civilisation. The battlefield wasn t reproduced in the living room and the greater
public had no comprehension of the atrocities that occurred.
Getting back to the topic we have the Charge of the Light Brigade glorifying war, while

The, Or The Nightingale, By Marie De France
The definition of a classic is a hotly debated topic in literature. For literature a classic has to have
certain characteristics to make is a classic; such as it must stand the test of time, have a universal
appeal, and make connections with the audience. Laustic, or the Nightingale, by Marie De France is a
classic in its own right due to the fact that students are still reading the literary work that it creates a
lasting impression on the reader. Marie De France, author of Laustic, created a memorable and
complex courtly love triangle that is dynamic when analyzing essential elements, such as irony,
understatement, spirituality, and symbolism.
In the story, Laustic or the Nightingale, Marie de France manipulates similarity and contract to
produce a more intense and stimulating story. Marie introduces her story by describing the two young
knights, who had strong house and from the goodness of the two barons the city acquired a good name
(De France, 11 12). Marie depicted the husband and the neighbor, or soon to be lover, very much alike
as to show the audience that they are equals, socio economically and morally (Murray). The similarity
between the two characters add an element of relatability because the wife essentially falls in love
with the same man all over again (Murray). Marie then uses contrast by detailing the husband s
change of character from the beginning of the story to the end. From the introduction of Laustic the
author emphasizes the good nature of the

Nafta ( North American Free Trade Agreement
NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was formed in 1994 and created one of the world s
largest free trade zones which includes Mexico, United States and Canada. NAFTA is an example of a
multilateral approach to free trade. The multilateral approach states that a country will bargain with its
trading partners to remove trade restrictions while the other countries do the same. Another
multilateral approach is GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) which regulates
international trade. GATT is comprised of representatives of all WTO member countries. The WTO
(World Trade Organization) was established January 1, 1995 and is headquartered in Geneva
Switzerland. As of November 2015 there were one hundred sixty two countries that were members.
The Uruguay Round was the most comprehensive international trade agreement and was finalized
December 15, 1993. Its Final Act prescribes, among other things, that tariffs on industrial products be
reduced by an average of more than one third, that trade in agricultural goods be progressively
liberalized, and that a new body, the World Trade Organization, be established both to facilitate the
implementation of multilateral trade agreements such as the Final Act and to serve as a forum for
future negotiations. (Fieleke, 1995) The Doha Round is the latest round of negotiations that began
November 2001. Its aim was to lower trade barriers, revise trade rules and to promote trade in
developing countries. (WTO.org) Both the

When We Were First Introduced This Assignment, I Was Both
When we were first introduced this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited because
it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone; in addition, I was excited to be able to get out
into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in class.
However, I was nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent
experiencing homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent and almost experienced
homelessness, I know how easy it can be to fall into homelessness. Overall, I was excited about doing
this assignment because I truly did want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing
homelessness wanted to tell.

The reality is that no one chooses to be homeless; therefore, it is important that we try to humanize
people that are facing homelessness because far too often they feel invisible. My thoughts have stayed
the same about homelessness; however, I certainly have started to acknowledge that homelessness is a
very real thing in our society. I also try my hardest to recognize that these individuals are people;
therefore, I now make it a point to at least make eye contact with them on the street.
Social Justice
As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle several people.
Additionally, our society often thinks people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an incident at a
gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people across the street
(Salvation Army) are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these
misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke
my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be
looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our
society continually provokes their unjust agenda.
Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra both
faced. Terra could not get any help with service providers because her children and her were not in
immediate danger; although,

Snow White Argumentative Essay
Mon Dieu, I murmured, glancing at the sassy, burping cow that gawked brainlessly from the cover of
Home On the Range; its reverse had the words, Round up the family and get ready for a whole lotta
fun with Disney s hilarious animated comedy Home on the Range, (Roper). Unfortunately,
Disneytends to exaggerate ever so slightly in marketing their products. Competitors DreamWorks,
Blue Sky, and Laika usually promote film mediocrity under the all encompassing banner of the family
film. But animation has changed significantly since Snow White and the Seven Dwarves: Walter Elias

When Walt Disney debuted his first feature length film, its titular character Snow White refrained
from decision making, with every other character affecting her future: her stepmother, the wicked
queen, attempts to kill Snow White several times; the huntsman spares her life; the seven dwarves take
her in, although with initial surprise and reluctance; and the prince revives Snow White from her death
like coma. Throughout this whirlwind of events, Snow White passively undergoes both enjoyment and
troubles, being acted upon by everyone except herself. Sleeping Beauty (1959) possibly epitomises the
quintessential Disney princess, . . . who does nothing the whole film but sing wistfully about Finding
Her Man, before becoming the ultimate passive Damsel in Distress, and other than that has maybe ten
actual lines of dialogue, (Butler). Again, Aurora acts as the recipient of consequences from the actions
of all other characters, without attempting to take action, nor to determine her fate. Feminist Disney
attacks Aurora for helplessly watching events unfolding around her, arguing that, The older princesses
Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White all of these women have been rewarded for their beauty and kind,
obedient disposition. None of these women did anything to achieve being held up as role models for
young girls. Thus Disney and [other animation studios] . . . [have] responded to parental demands for
positive female role models with . . . films featuring increasingly three dimensional heroines giving
their characters force of will to actively participate in their stories, instead of overtly relying on others
to influence their futures. Going into the contemporary era, The Little Mermaid (1989) began to
reflect that growing trend among animated films, although

Summary Of Corrine Carvalho s Primer On Biblical...
Introduction
Biblical interpretation is an area that leaves historians and students perplexed. There are many
questions as to when exactly a certain text was written, whom it was written by, origin of sources, etc.
To answer these questions, Christian historians have developed methods in order to make sense of the
messages in the bible. In particular, Corrine Carvalho s Primer on Biblical Methods works to critically
explain and interpret scripture so readers feel less skeptical about the legitimacy of the text. These
methods include the following: Source criticism, the reconstruction of written sources an ancient
author may have used to compose a text. Form criticism, the way a final author has put a text together.
Traditional criticism, the identification of traditions that an author employs in constructing new texts.
Historical criticism, the historical circumstances that have led an author to write a given text
(Carvalho, 2009, p. 3); they are encouraged for readers to use throughout the bible. If you look at
Psalms, you will find prayers of a poetic nature, almost like a song like. This writing style often leaves
the meaning of its text open for interpretation because it speaks in metaphors, it contains little to no
defining statements. Carvalho s methods can be applied to Psalm 18.
THEO 223 Endterm: Intermediate Exegesis
Source Criticism Psalms 18 is the Psalm of King David. David provides several lines of imagery and
metaphors in the beginning of the Psalm to emphasize the degree in which the Lord has helped him.
The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the most high uttered his voice (Attridge et al, 2006,
Psalm 18:13, p. 746)...He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters
(Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:16, p. 747). However, the Psalm has an abrupt shift in subject matter
that suggests the psalmist has put the whole thing together from separate sources. It begins with Psalm
18:20, The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my
hands he recompensed me (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:20, p. 747). Every verse before verse 20
was under the theme of thanksgiving. In addition, it had a high dose of metaphor and imagery,

The Shortening Leash Essay
For the past few decades, the development of technology and the expansion of the knowledge has
enriched our life, especially for our childhood life. However, relatively speaking, kids now are getting
less freedom than the past due to the world has more potential dangerous such as the increased rate of
abduction. Dealing a complicated problem with a very simple violent way may result in a worse
impact in the near future. Because of parents excessively protect their own children and outside world
is too horrible to play alone, more and more kids lost the opportunity of touching the nature, instead
they indulge in the virtual world created by electronic products. In the story The Shortening Leash ,
Jessica and Hanna give us a relatively accurate and unbiased information about the situation that kids
now lost freedom a lot according to the board surveys and three statistic graphs. While they mentioned
that we are not supposed to latch our kids due to over protection. Otherwise, let children pursue free
exploration is not equal to stop your ear to them.
In the article The Shortening Leash , which publishes in slate.com, Jessica Grose and Hanna Rosin
describe the children today have much less freedom in the childhood than their parents and the
possible reason why this happens. According to board surveys for asking about what parents did in
their childhood and what they allow their own kids to do now indicate that childhood criterions have
changed violently over a generation.

The Usage Of Dietary Supplements
The usage of dietary supplements is very common in United States. Nutrition plays a big role in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Not everyone gets the all the essential nutrition so they make it up by
purchasing and consuming dietary supplements. Some of the substances include vitamins, minerals,
enzymes, and amino acids. They come in several oral forms such as tablets, capsules, or powders.
These dietary supplements have been around for a long time but only recently over the past twenty
years have they increased tremendously in sales in the United States. And specifically in 2006, the
world wide market has been estimated at more than US $60 billion (Geyer et al, 2008). This expansion
of supplements flourished later in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But regardless, it became more marketable ever since 1994 when FDA lost most of their power over
regulations on the production of dietary supplements. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education
Act (DSHEA) of 1994 changed significantly how vitamins, herbs and other supplements are regulated
(Ashar et al, 2007). The government realized how important dietary supplements in the economy was
by being commodities used by half the population, which was spending annually about 4 billion on
4000 products sold by 600 manufacturers (Swann, 2015). The sales for supplements have skyrocketed
and now manufacturers are able to claim they have ingredients in their products when in reality they
do not because of the lack of supervision from the FDA. Companies should be conducting
experiments and doing research to properly market their products but most of the time they do not and
still put their products out. Consumers should be able to have the freedom to buy their choice of
supplements but these products should be regulated to assure buyers that they are purchasing good
quality and safe products.
Aside from trying to buy quality products, regulations of dietary supplements are still quite unknown
to the public so they rely on their healthcare providers for more information. Because physicians are
people who promote health, they should have a basic

Air Pollution In America
The primary cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels. Carbon pollution causes more
frequent and severe storms, floods, heat waves, and wild fires. Power plants and major industrial
facilities in Georgia Emitted more than eighty five metric tons of carbon pollution in 2011. Thirteen
counties in metro Atlanta are currently in nonattainment because the region does not meet the federal
air quality standard. The American Lung Association s State of the Air 2015 report gave a failing
grade on ozone to Gwinnett County where I currently live in Metro Atlanta. Metro Atlanta s air
pollution problem is due to the population growth, traffic congestion, and the lack of a large scale
transit system. In 2000 the American Lung Association s State of the Air ranked Atlanta as the ninth
most populated city for the ozone but we have improved since then. The south usually has problems
with the ozone due to more sunlight and warmer temperatures. Nationwide nearly forty four percent of
the people live in a place where pollution levels are often too dangerous to breath. Air pollution can
lead to serious health issues such as heart disease, heart attacks, and an increase risk of death from
lung cancer. According to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division on average Atlanta has
around forty code orange days where health officials warn that children and people sensitive to ozone,
people with heart or lung disease to limit outdoor exertion during the afternoon or evening

Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130
In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and
transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another
subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic
of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level
of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is
the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is
of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she
is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is
far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the
original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as
any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind
of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to
the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor
John Kerrigan concludes:
Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you
alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with .
This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of
emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that
trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither.
The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge
stereotype than an actual real life woman,

It is possible to notice differences in the climate...
It is possible to notice differences in the climate behavior around the word. The elderly people from

proove that the average of the patterns of precipitation, temperature, seassons, humudity, and wind of
a region over a long period of time, have been abruptly changing through the years and causing
several impacts in the earth. The prevision is that it will keep changing. The climate changing is one of
the major negative effects of the Global Warming, which is the result of the excess of Greenhouse

It also can harm the animal and vegetal spicies, extinguishing them in a worst scenario. Socially, as
consequence of the loss of land it would result in crowded population and health implications: air

of edible resources, less job oportunities for the population; therefore, adversely affect the global
economy.
There is no proof of how much countries need to reduce the production of Greenhouse gases, but since
years ago that scientists have been studying attempts to solve te Global Warming and avoid or stop the
climate changing. With the development of the technology, many countries start slowly replacing the
old fashioned cars for electric cars to reduce the pollution, which is an example of use of alternative
sources of energy. Use renewable energy such as wind, sun, hydro and geothermal energy, and reduce
the coal burning from the industries, are plausible solutions too. In the year of 1997, in Kyoto, Japan,
it was signed an agreement from over 191 countries with the exception of Andorra, Canada, United

Short Stories Of The Nineteenth Century
Short stories of the nineteenth century are synonymous with Guy de Maupassant who is a master of
irony, plot twists and satire. He is still considered to be one of the greatest short story writers of all
time and a champion of the realist approach to writing. Maupassant was born in Normandy, near
Dieppe, on 5th August, 1850, to well off parents who, however, didn t get along well and eventually
separated in 1863. The separation of his parents caused Maupassant to receive two very different kinds
of upbringings. His debauched father, Gustave de Maupassant, saw no trouble in engaging his son in a
similar life of titillation whereas his mother, Laure Le Poitevin, introduced him to English and Italian
literary classics. He received his early education from his mother and later at a Lyceum. He began
studying law in Paris at the age of nineteen which was cut short by the Franco Prussian war of 1870,
when he enrolled in the army. After his discharge and a period of unrest, Maupassant finally settled
down with a stable job in Civil Service in Paris in 1872. The ennui of his work was comforted by
outdoor activities that include excursions in the countryside, canoe trips down the Seine, and even by
women, often prostitutes. The first stage symptoms of syphilis appeared in 1877 and it would
eventually kill him within the next fifteen years. The elements of his upbringing, like the countryside,
people and traditions are often characterized in his storytelling. His stories, though

Questions On Target Data Breach
Target Data Breach
Blake J. Wells
ECPI University
Abstract In December of 2013, over 40 million credit card information was stolen from 2000 Target
stores. This paper will explore the known issues in the Target breach and consider some of the Critical
Controls that could have been used to prevent this breach and mitigate the losses. There are multiple
factors that led to the largest data loss in history. Vendors were subject to various phishing attacks,
memory scraping malware and detection used by Target that failed. One of the possible solutions for
preventing and mitigating similar breaches is using a multi layered security strategy, and to consider
human factors that may be contributed to the loss of this information.
The Breach
Target, one of the nation s largest retailers, had a data breach that had up to 40 million consumers have
their credit card and debit card data stolen, while up to 70 million had their personal information
stolen such as their addresses and phone numbers. Information from the credit and debit cards stolen
was the names, the card numbers, expiration date and the CVV (card verification value). The
consumer information that was stolen such as names, mailing addresses, phone numbers, and even
email addresses. The breach took place during the holiday shopping rush of 2013. This breach
damaged Target s sales during the holiday season, and remains one of the largest data breaches in
history.

Good And Evil As Presented In The Novella
Argument about the Nature of Good and Evil As Presented In the Novella
According to the Ester and Joshua (125), the concept of evil takes on two sides; the broad concept and
the narrow notion. The broad concept presents any bad state of affairs, wrongful action or a flaw in
character. It is into two, which are the natural evil and the moral evil. Natural evil is non intended bad
state of affairs while moral evil, on the other hand, results from the intentional bad state of the affairs.
The narrow concept presents only the morally unacceptable actions, characters, and events. Good on

Descriptive Essay For Christmas
December is much less a month and more so an extended holiday, for the entire month is time to
prepare for Christmas. Everything in the stores, on the TV, on the radio, and in everyone s houses
revolves around the holiday. Christmas is a time to celebrate with music, festivities, and food, or
should I say Christmas desserts. I love the sugary sweets that make my mouth water all year round
until finally the month comes to bake and eat the variety of treats. Oreo balls, peanut butter balls,
chocolate covered pretzels, fudge, caramels, and all the other creative ways to combine the most
unhealthy ingredients complete the holiday season, yet my favorite dessert is a classic Christmas sugar
cookie, a soft star shaped cookie layered with sweet yellow frosting and dipped in a chilled glass of
milk.
The second weekend in December is always cookie making weekend at Grandma s. Traditionally, we
grandkids spend the night on Saturday to help her bake the sugar cookies; however, she has already
made two batches during the day, so we help her with the third batch. First, we gather all the
ingredients; two cups of butter, two cups of sugar, four eggs, two tablespoons of milk, six cups of
flour, and six teaspoons of baking powder. Grandma takes out her largest glass bowl, and we beat the
butter until it is creamy, for about one minute. Slowly, we add the sugar and mix it until the
ingredients blend into a light and fluffy mixture, making my mouth water due to the sweet smell.

Effects of Plyometric Exercises on Power Production
Introduction In a number of sports, the ability to produce a high muscular power output is required.
Power is critical for the performance of sports that require quick changes in directions, jumping, and
sprinting.1 To increase power production a number of plyometric exercises and programs can be
performed. The theory of specificity plays a large role in deciding what plyometric exercises should be
performed to improve power output.2 The theory states that the exercises should replicate the
movement as closely as possible for the best results.1,3 Plyometrics are used to increase muscular
power output and is accomplished by training the muscles to do more work in a shorter amount of
time.1,4 The purpose of this report is to review the literature on the effects of plyometric exercises on
power production.
Mechanical Model of Polymeric Exercise The mechanical model has three critical components to
explain how force production occurs in skeletal muscle. The three components of the mechanical
model (Figure 1.) are the contractile component (CC), the parallel elastic component (PEC) and the
series elastic component (SEC).5,6 The (CC) are made up of actin, myosin, and cross bridges that
produce the primary force during a muscle contraction.6,7 The PEC is made up of the epimysium,
perimysium, endomysium and the muscle fiber.6,8,9 This formation of connective tissue exerts a
passive resistive force when stretched. The SEC is the elastic component that store and release the

Beautiful Music of the Middle Ages
Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul, it is one of the most
magnificent and delightful presents God has given us Martin Luther. Music was a part of life then and
it is a part of life today. Without music, life itself would be a mistake. Seeing the changes over the
years is a great way to follow the patterns and differences this way of communicating has shown us.
Some of the more popular music was the Gregorian Chant, Organum, Motet and Madrigal.
In the early Middle Ages around 590 ACE the Gregorian Chant was popularized by Pope Gregory the
Fourth. The Gregorian Chant was a form of monophonic tune of the Roman Catholic Church (Music
Through the Ages). Monophonic is a musical style employing a single melodic line without
accompaniment. This style was oral by tradition and only served as a memory aid for a singer who
already knew the melody (http://en.wikipedia.org). Memorizing is a difficult task, it is even harder to
memorize music that was taught to them orally. Gregorian melodies are traditionally written using
neumes, an early form of musical notation (http://www.britannica.com). These neumes later formed
the modern four and five line staff development. Being a monophonic tune the Gregorian Chant was
losing interest and a new style was born.
In the Musica Enchiriadis musical handbook , Organum consisted of two melodic lines moving
simultaneously note against note. Organum changed the way of music for the medieval people;

The United States Tax System and Flat Tax Essay
The United States Tax System and Flat Tax
The United States tax system is in complete disarray. Republicans and Democrats agree that the
current tax code is complex, unfair, and costly. The income tax system is so complex; the IRS
publishes 480 tax forms and 280 forms to explain the 480 forms (Armey 1). The main reason the tax
system is so complex is because of the special preferences such as deductions and tax credits.
Complexity in the current tax system forces Americans to spend 5.4 billion hours complying with the
tax code, which is more time than it takes to manufacture every car, truck and van produced in the
United States (Armey 1). Time is not the only thing that is lost with the current tax system; Americans
also lose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American people are in the presence of the highest tax burden in American history; taxes
represent a larger share of the U.S. economy than ever before (Armey 2). After World War II, the
average family sent only about three percent of its income to Washington. The same family today
gives 24 percent of its income to the federal tax collector (Mitchell 1, 9). Once state and local taxes
are added to the federal take, taxes make up the biggest slice of the average family s budget. As Daniel
Mitchell of the Heritage Foundation shows in Figure 1, the typical American family now pays more of
its budget in taxes than it spends on food, clothing, transportation and shelter combined (Mitchell 1,
10).
Policy makers have introduced a solution to the staggering proportion of taxes that Americans spend.
The flat tax, based on an idea developed by Professors Robert Hall and Alvin Rabushka of Stanford
University to create a fair, simple, and pro growth tax system (Mitchell 1, 11). There are four basic
criteria that make up a flat tax. First is a single low rate on taxable income, the baseline for taxable
income would be raised to a certain amount dictated by a personal exemption. Second is simplicity, all
Americans would fill out the same postcard sized form to pay their taxes. Third is the reduction or
elimination of deductions, credits, and exemptions, depending

Similarities Between Christopher Columbus And Marie Curie
Christopher Columbus Marie Curie
Made By: Grace M., Hayden B, Cade. E ., Aidan W h There are many things that Christopher
Columbus and Marie Curie have both had trouble with or gone through. They both have gone through
many tough obstacles that were both life threatening and unsafe. Many of those obstacles also affected
how they and their family get to see and interact with each other. But they never have up and kept
doing what they loved to do. Christopher wants to go west to get to Orient and Marie a scientist made
in the male dominated field of science.
Something the two people wanted to do was be able to be famous, which was possible. Though they
died of disease, they did not have the same kind of death. Christopher died from Gout, that causes a
severed agony which hurts to wear clothes, and Marie died by Aplastic Anemia. Aplastic Anemia is a
disease that causes the bone marrow to have struggles with delivering blood throughout the body.
Columbus died by chills, fever, and difficulty breathing. Something that the two scientists had in
common was the two were both inspired by their dreams and goals. Christopher was integrated into

Marie Curie spent lots and lots of her time in her lab working with her radium and not with her family.
Christopher Columbus went on his explorations during the 1400s and the 1500s,and Marie Curie did
her lab experiments in the 1800s and the 1900s. So they were very separated in time and there
personalities are very different too. Also Christopher Columbus enjoyed exploring and discovering the
world unlike Marie Curie enjoyed studying and testing her radium

Fairytales In The Bloody Chamber By Angela Carter
Fairy tales often show that it is the boys and men who are the ones allowed to go on adventures and
save the day, Angela Carter changes that by making it that anyone even girls and women, can share
those same curious, adventurous, and even heroic characteristics. The term is mainly used for stories
with origins in European tradition and, at least in recent centuries, mostly relates to children s
literature. Fairytales have been around for a long time, starting off as oral stories later to be collected
by the Grimm brothers in the early 19th century. It is normally males that would gather fairy tales;
although women, especially elderly ones, were the best sources of fairy tales in many of the cultures.
It is a characteristic of fairy tales ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our names are what give us our identity. In fairytales it is no different, a name can be a powerful
thing. An example of this is in the tale of Rumpelstiltskin, just by guessing Rumpelstiltskin s name
breaks the bargain made for the first born child. In The Bloody Chamber, we know that the first person
narrator is female, but her name is unmentioned. This is difference between the original story and
Angela Carter s is in the original the wife is not addressed other than wife whereas as in the Bloody
Chamber is called by multiple names, but mostly pet names by her husband. She is called Madame by
workers at the castle and with some diminutive words such as My little nun, Baby (17), My little love,
and My child (18) by her husband. The female narrator labels herself by some words such as I, the
orphan, the châtelaine and I, the little music student (13), a little girl (18), child (18), and his bride
(13). It seems that she adopts the adjectives attributed to her by the outer world. On the other hand, the
man she marries to holds an ancestral name of The Marquis (36) which symbolizes mastery and
power, and the heroine calls the Marquis, my husband and my purchaser (15). Having these names in
the story not only gives the story a fable feel but also shows the power dynamic between the narrator
and the Marquis. The main character goes on to describe how the Marquis looks at her like a house
wife would look at meat at the supermarket, the narrator compares herself to a female figure in an
etching described as a lamb chop (17). Comparing herself to a lamb, which is normally seen as the
victim, and the Marques is equated to a lion, the hunter, shows that the narrator sees how the dynamic

Symbolism Of Society In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
William Golding s modern classic, Lord of the Flies showcases a group of boys stranded on an island,
in hopes of rescue and survival. This depicts how a society of boys would function if civilization had
not been forced on them. Moreover, this novel shows us Golding s inner kept judgement of the
function of society. The boys first meet together on the island by using what later becomes a symbol
of law; the conch. It is first used as an object to keep order amongst the boys, but later becomes the
center of conflict between two clashing tribes. It represents the battle between order and chaos, and
the outcome is Golding s view of which rules in society. A constant occurrence in the book is the
bullying of the characters, Simon and Piggy. Although these characters contributed greatly to the
development of the group, their actions were never appreciated. They were both outcasts in the tribe,
never listened to, nor included in any conversations. Golding represents these characters as religion
and intelligence, and so the outcast of these boys gives us a window into which parts of society the
author deems are valuable and unnecessary. Jack, the antagonist in the book is portrayed as a vile,
aggressive creature. He and his hunters become obsessed with bloodshed and macabre, and so they
kill to satisfy their needs. What starts as killing pigs for meat as a means of survival, soon turns into an
addiction for blood leading to a bloodbath between the boys. The constant hunger for

The Effect Of Sodium Thiosulphate On Reaction Rate
Title:
The effect of Hydrochloric Acid volume with Sodium Thiosulphate on the reaction rate.
Introduction:
Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate
effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear?
The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to
product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to
occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in
general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction
rate. Catalysts affect the rate by using or allowing a different pathway for the reaction ... Show more

This occur because the increase of volume of HCl will increase the rate of reaction between
Hydrochloric acid and sodium Thiosulphate particles.
The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the
prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between
the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction
will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction
depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make
the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster.
This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is
said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular
collisions. The phenomenon behind all of this is the collision theory and how it plays a big role in this
investigation. The higher the volume of a solution the less time/faster it will take for the system to turn
into equilibrium, and if concentration is decreased, time taken for the solution to go cloudy

Illegal Immigration In The United States Essay
National Issues Paper: Illegal Immigration
There are more than 10 million illegal immigrants living in the United Sates, and each day that
number is increasing by 1,400 illegal aliens. An illegal immigrant is a foreigner who either illegally
crossed an international political border, whether it was by land, sea or air, or whether it be a foreigner
who legally entered a country but nevertheless overstayed their visa in order to live and/or work there.
The two focal attractions that the illegal immigrants perceive in the U.S are superior job opportunities,
and better living for their families. Several businesses in our Nation are eager to hire cheap,
submissive manual labor from overseas. Such businesses are hardly ever penalized due to ... Show

In addition, several immigrants are demoralized and countless others die in their struggles to cross the
border. Various border patrolmen have not only had the need to kill, but have been killed. The borders
are clearly unsafe, and with approximately 1,400 immigrants crossing it everyday the U.S is very
vulnerable to being in great danger and when the borders are vulnerable, the entire nation is
vulnerable. If the borders were more secure, then the number of illegal immigrants sneaking into the
country would reduce which would reduce many of the other issues that illegal immigrants cause. To
stop the immigration issues, the nation must stop those issues at its core, being the borders. When the
borders are taken care of, the issues that come along with them will also be taken care of. Not only do
illegal immigrants crossing the border cause border control issues, but they also cause critical national
security issues by jeopardizing the safety of the US citizens. For example, in September of 2007, forty
one illegal immigrants with gang ties to the Mexican Mafia, Sureno 13, and the Latin Kings were
detained for severe crimes in Northwest Arkansas. A number of of the gang members had been
previously deported, however, crossed the border illegally yet again. If a drastic number of deported
immigrants are able to cross the border more than once, it is only a matter of time until a terrorist
comes along and does a great amount of damage to the

New York Stock Exchange Essay
On May 17, 1792 24 stock brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement on Wall Street in New York
City under a Buttonwood tree. The agreement formed a centralized exchange that eliminated the need
for auctioneers. It also set up rules for the trading of public bonds that were used to pay for the
American Revolution. In 1817, a formal organization was setup and named the New York Stock
Exchange Board. In 1863 it was renamed the New York Stock Exchange and in 1903 it moved to its
present headquarters at 18 Broad Street. During the 19th century, most of the things traded in the
Stock Exchange were government bonds. Few corporations were in existence during this time but they
were primarily banks that people could buy and sell stocks. Over the centuries more companies joined
the exchange with the railroad industry dominating the market through the 20th century. The invention
of the telegraph allowed for easier trading and membership expansion. The current membership is
limited to 1,300. The organization is a nonprofit organization that minimizes fraudulent offers and

Trust During Hell s Trauma
Trust During Hell s Trauma The story swan song by Robert McCammon is a post apocalyptic novel
about the survivors who are now in the aftermath of the nuclear blast. This was during the Cold War
that took place in America has been between America and Russia. It gives a perspective of what s it s
like to be in the middle of a traumatic tragedy. There were some who were lucky to survive the
tragedy, but there was something they needed to have, which was to trust, the survivors needed to trust
that they make it through. Trust is a needful thing even though it has been a hard thing to get and to
establish. Trust was difficult due to their inner personal troubles two of them had some relatable
reasons. Swan had an abusive stepfather not only to her, but Darlene is known as Uncle Tommy. An
abusive jerk when he was drunk and even accusing Darlene as McCammon states, what am I supposed
to do? Just smile as you go out drinking and gambling money I earn? That money was supposed to go
to our rent on the damned trailer and buy us some groceries, and by God you just went and threw it
away, just threw it . This was just him drunk talking and an example of Uncle Tommy s accusation.ch3
(36). This made the lack of trust reasonable as an abusive spouse who goes inflicts anger and rage. A
monster at home is what makes a thing like trust slip away as this kept going on.

  • 2. Military Tactics During Ww1 Tactics were the most important element within the nature of warfare during the World Wars. Military tactics is the organisation of a military force and majorly determined how they would engage and defeat an enemy in battle. Physically, in comparing the two wars and their tactics, it is evident that WW1 s tactics were distributed in a more defensive way such as the Gallipoli campaign, trench warfare, Schlieffen plan and Plan 17 in comparison to WW2 s offensive strategies such as blitzkrieg, island hopping and airplane bombing. Many tactics and military plans during WW1 were created in an attempt to break the stalemate between the two sides caused by trench warfare. The Gallipoli campaign was a prime example of this aiming to resume a war of movement. Neither side gained ground, but both sides lost millions of soldiers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The trenches were created as a defence mechanism put in place to provide protection to soldiers during enemy attack. This tactic began as barely small dirt hills which overtime was transformed into a complex trench system, with the main sections being frontline, support line and communications. As displayed in source A, typical trench systems were a major part of the nature of warfare within WW1. These trenches were a defence mechanism, put in place to provide protection to soldiers during enemy attack. The zigzag trench pattern visible in Source A, prevents infiltrating enemy troops from firing down the complete length of trench lines, additionally helping prevent the spread of gas ... • 3. How Does The Context Of Production Influence The Nature Of... This afternoon on the poetry network live we examine two famous pieces on war from different eras, these pieces are The Charge of the Light Brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson and The Fool Rings His Bell by Walter de la Mare. The purpose of this afternoons show is to answer the question of how does the context of production influence the nature of poetry? When it comes to poetry war is an often reoccurring theme. Many poems have been written in times of crisis when literal expression is the only way to make meaning of the madness. For the best part of the last century, the theme of war has been dominated by negative connotations and portrayals depicting quite realistically the atrocity and futility of war. We have ANZAC day, our annual reminder of the sacrifice of war. When even one of our soldiers pays the ultimate price in a tour of duty the nation mourns. Any band with an appreciable life span has sung a protest song. Be it from the television, the radio, the internet or the newspaper the message remains the same; war is bad. But it wasn t always like this. Back in the good old days when armies fought in ordered lines on far away fields and shot, hacked and charged each other until there was only one side left standing war was segregated from civilisation. The battlefield wasn t reproduced in the living room and the greater public had no comprehension of the atrocities that occurred. Getting back to the topic we have the Charge of the Light Brigade glorifying war, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The, Or The Nightingale, By Marie De France The definition of a classic is a hotly debated topic in literature. For literature a classic has to have certain characteristics to make is a classic; such as it must stand the test of time, have a universal appeal, and make connections with the audience. Laustic, or the Nightingale, by Marie De France is a classic in its own right due to the fact that students are still reading the literary work that it creates a lasting impression on the reader. Marie De France, author of Laustic, created a memorable and complex courtly love triangle that is dynamic when analyzing essential elements, such as irony, understatement, spirituality, and symbolism. In the story, Laustic or the Nightingale, Marie de France manipulates similarity and contract to produce a more intense and stimulating story. Marie introduces her story by describing the two young knights, who had strong house and from the goodness of the two barons the city acquired a good name (De France, 11 12). Marie depicted the husband and the neighbor, or soon to be lover, very much alike as to show the audience that they are equals, socio economically and morally (Murray). The similarity between the two characters add an element of relatability because the wife essentially falls in love with the same man all over again (Murray). Marie then uses contrast by detailing the husband s change of character from the beginning of the story to the end. From the introduction of Laustic the author emphasizes the good nature of the ... • 5. Nafta ( North American Free Trade Agreement NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) was formed in 1994 and created one of the world s largest free trade zones which includes Mexico, United States and Canada. NAFTA is an example of a multilateral approach to free trade. The multilateral approach states that a country will bargain with its trading partners to remove trade restrictions while the other countries do the same. Another multilateral approach is GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) which regulates international trade. GATT is comprised of representatives of all WTO member countries. The WTO (World Trade Organization) was established January 1, 1995 and is headquartered in Geneva Switzerland. As of November 2015 there were one hundred sixty two countries that were members. The Uruguay Round was the most comprehensive international trade agreement and was finalized December 15, 1993. Its Final Act prescribes, among other things, that tariffs on industrial products be reduced by an average of more than one third, that trade in agricultural goods be progressively liberalized, and that a new body, the World Trade Organization, be established both to facilitate the implementation of multilateral trade agreements such as the Final Act and to serve as a forum for future negotiations. (Fieleke, 1995) The Doha Round is the latest round of negotiations that began November 2001. Its aim was to lower trade barriers, revise trade rules and to promote trade in developing countries. • 6. When We Were First Introduced This Assignment, I Was Both When we were first introduced this assignment, I was both excited and nervous. I was excited because it gave me the opportunity to step of my comfort zone; in addition, I was excited to be able to get out into the community and practice some of the social work skills that we have learned in class. However, I was nervous because I knew it would be hard to hear the struggles of a single parent experiencing homelessness. As someone who was raised by a single parent and almost experienced homelessness, I know how easy it can be to fall into homelessness. Overall, I was excited about doing this assignment because I truly did want to hear the stories that single parents experiencing homelessness wanted to tell. Experiences Related to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality is that no one chooses to be homeless; therefore, it is important that we try to humanize people that are facing homelessness because far too often they feel invisible. My thoughts have stayed the same about homelessness; however, I certainly have started to acknowledge that homelessness is a very real thing in our society. I also try my hardest to recognize that these individuals are people; therefore, I now make it a point to at least make eye contact with them on the street. Social Justice As I stated before, far too often our society ignores that homelessness is a struggle several people. Additionally, our society often thinks people choose to be homeless. Terra talked about an incident at a gas station, and how one of the employees at the gas station said all the people across the street (Salvation Army) are drunks and addicts. She talked about how upset she gets when people have these misconceptions about people that are struggling with homelessness. Hearing her talk about this broke my heart because our society should not shame people for being homeless; instead, we should be looking at solutions to end homelessness. It is a human right to have basic human needs, yet our society continually provokes their unjust agenda. Our society also tends to ignore domestic violence, which is something that my mother and Terra both faced. • 7. Snow White Argumentative Essay Mon Dieu, I murmured, glancing at the sassy, burping cow that gawked brainlessly from the cover of Home On the Range; its reverse had the words, Round up the family and get ready for a whole lotta fun with Disney s hilarious animated comedy Home on the Range, (Roper). Unfortunately, Disneytends to exaggerate ever so slightly in marketing their products. Competitors DreamWorks, Blue Sky, and Laika usually promote film mediocrity under the all encompassing banner of the family film. But animation has changed significantly since Snow White and the Seven Dwarves: Walter Elias Disney, the pioneering, persevering innovator, lowered the floodgates for a burgeoning art, and suddenly, animation created thrillers, adventures, and worlds full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Walt Disney debuted his first feature length film, its titular character Snow White refrained from decision making, with every other character affecting her future: her stepmother, the wicked queen, attempts to kill Snow White several times; the huntsman spares her life; the seven dwarves take her in, although with initial surprise and reluctance; and the prince revives Snow White from her death like coma. Throughout this whirlwind of events, Snow White passively undergoes both enjoyment and troubles, being acted upon by everyone except herself. Sleeping Beauty (1959) possibly epitomises the quintessential Disney princess, . . . who does nothing the whole film but sing wistfully about Finding Her Man, before becoming the ultimate passive Damsel in Distress, and other than that has maybe ten actual lines of dialogue, (Butler). Again, Aurora acts as the recipient of consequences from the actions of all other characters, without attempting to take action, nor to determine her fate. Feminist Disney attacks Aurora for helplessly watching events unfolding around her, arguing that, The older princesses Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White all of these women have been rewarded for their beauty and kind, obedient disposition. None of these women did anything to achieve being held up as role models for young girls. Thus Disney and [other animation studios] . . . [have] responded to parental demands for positive female role models with . . . films featuring increasingly three dimensional heroines giving their characters force of will to actively participate in their stories, instead of overtly relying on others to influence their futures. • 8. Summary Of Corrine Carvalho s Primer On Biblical... Introduction Biblical interpretation is an area that leaves historians and students perplexed. There are many questions as to when exactly a certain text was written, whom it was written by, origin of sources, etc. To answer these questions, Christian historians have developed methods in order to make sense of the messages in the bible. In particular, Corrine Carvalho s Primer on Biblical Methods works to critically explain and interpret scripture so readers feel less skeptical about the legitimacy of the text. These methods include the following: Source criticism, the reconstruction of written sources an ancient author may have used to compose a text. Form criticism, the way a final author has put a text together. Traditional criticism, the identification of traditions that an author employs in constructing new texts. Historical criticism, the historical circumstances that have led an author to write a given text (Carvalho, 2009, p. 3); they are encouraged for readers to use throughout the bible. If you look at Psalms, you will find prayers of a poetic nature, almost like a song like. This writing style often leaves the meaning of its text open for interpretation because it speaks in metaphors, it contains little to no defining statements. Carvalho s methods can be applied to Psalm 18. THEO 223 Endterm: Intermediate Exegesis Source Criticism Psalms 18 is the Psalm of King David. David provides several lines of imagery and metaphors in the beginning of the Psalm to emphasize the degree in which the Lord has helped him. The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the most high uttered his voice (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:13, p. 746)...He reached down from on high, he took me; he drew me out of mighty waters (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:16, p. 747). However, the Psalm has an abrupt shift in subject matter that suggests the psalmist has put the whole thing together from separate sources. It begins with Psalm 18:20, The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanliness of my hands he recompensed me (Attridge et al, 2006, Psalm 18:20, p. 747). Every verse before verse 20 was under the theme of thanksgiving. In addition, it had a high dose of metaphor and imagery, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, relatively speaking, kids now are getting less freedom than the past due to the world has more potential dangerous such as the increased rate of abduction. Dealing a complicated problem with a very simple violent way may result in a worse impact in the near future. Because of parents excessively protect their own children and outside world is too horrible to play alone, more and more kids lost the opportunity of touching the nature, instead they indulge in the virtual world created by electronic products. In the story The Shortening Leash , Jessica and Hanna give us a relatively accurate and unbiased information about the situation that kids now lost freedom a lot according to the board surveys and three statistic graphs. While they mentioned that we are not supposed to latch our kids due to over protection. Otherwise, let children pursue free exploration is not equal to stop your ear to them. In the article The Shortening Leash , which publishes in slate.com, Jessica Grose and Hanna Rosin describe the children today have much less freedom in the childhood than their parents and the possible reason why this happens. According to board surveys for asking about what parents did in their childhood and what they allow their own kids to do now indicate that childhood criterions have changed violently over a generation. ... Not everyone gets the all the essential nutrition so they make it up by purchasing and consuming dietary supplements. Some of the substances include vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids. They come in several oral forms such as tablets, capsules, or powders. These dietary supplements have been around for a long time but only recently over the past twenty years have they increased tremendously in sales in the United States. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 changed significantly how vitamins, herbs and other supplements are regulated (Ashar et al, 2007). The government realized how important dietary supplements in the economy was by being commodities used by half the population, which was spending annually about 4 billion on 4000 products sold by 600 manufacturers (Swann, 2015). The sales for supplements have skyrocketed and now manufacturers are able to claim they have ingredients in their products when in reality they do not because of the lack of supervision from the FDA. Companies should be conducting experiments and doing research to properly market their products but most of the time they do not and still put their products out. Consumers should be able to have the freedom to buy their choice of supplements but these products should be regulated to assure buyers that they are purchasing good quality and safe products. Aside from trying to buy quality products, regulations of dietary supplements are still quite unknown to the public so they rely on their healthcare providers for more information. • 12. Air Pollution In America The primary cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels. Carbon pollution causes more frequent and severe storms, floods, heat waves, and wild fires. Power plants and major industrial facilities in Georgia Emitted more than eighty five metric tons of carbon pollution in 2011. Thirteen counties in metro Atlanta are currently in nonattainment because the region does not meet the federal air quality standard. The American Lung Association s State of the Air 2015 report gave a failing grade on ozone to Gwinnett County where I currently live in Metro Atlanta. Metro Atlanta s air pollution problem is due to the population growth, traffic congestion, and the lack of a large scale transit system. In 2000 the American Lung Association s State of the Air ranked Atlanta as the ninth most populated city for the ozone but we have improved since then. The south usually has problems with the ozone due to more sunlight and warmer temperatures. Nationwide nearly forty four percent of the people live in a place where pollution levels are often too dangerous to breath. Air pollution can lead to serious health issues such as heart disease, heart attacks, and an increase risk of death from lung cancer. According to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division on average Atlanta has around forty code orange days where health officials warn that children and people sensitive to ozone, people with heart or lung disease to limit outdoor exertion during the afternoon or evening ... • 13. Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and... Comparing the Beloved in Shakespeare s Sonnet 20 and Sonnet 130 In the hands of a master such as Shakespeare, the conventions of the sonnet form are manipulated and transformed into something unique and originally emphasized. Both sonnets in one way or another subvert the conventions of the base Petrarchan sonnet; though they are about love, the traditional topic of sonnets, whilst in Sonnet 20 the object of desire is unattainable and there is no evidence of the level of affection being requited, the target is male, and the target of the poet s affections in Sonnet 130 is the poetic voice s current mistress. It also seems important to note that love in neither of these cases is of the generic youthful female Aryan stereotype, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poetic voice s mistress is of nature; no supernal gifts are hers. It is even strongly indicated that she is beneath the highest forms of beauty nature has to offer (her eyes are nothing like the sun , coral is far more red than her lips, no roses see I in her cheeks .) But this is to stray beyond the confines of the original subject, the rest of the verse argues, because the love the voice has for its lover is as rare as any other; beauty does not have to draw such clichéd parallels with nature to be thought of in the mind of a lover as surpassing everything around it. In reference to this repeated theme, in the introduction to the Penguin Classics printing of the Sonnets (though in reference specifically to sonnet 84), editor John Kerrigan concludes: Which hyperbolic poet , Shakespeare asks, which most sayer, can exceed this sublime truism, that you alone are you . For you comprise the only things which, in honesty, you can be compared with . This sonnet serves to invoke a strong sense of realism in love, arguing that as strong an intensity of emotion as may be held, may be held, without the need for delusions of grandeur, taking the view that trying to reconcile two essentially different and diverse things as equal is to do true justice to neither. The beloved in this case thus represents more the need for a character developed to challenge stereotype than an actual real life woman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He is still considered to be one of the greatest short story writers of all time and a champion of the realist approach to writing. Maupassant was born in Normandy, near Dieppe, on 5th August, 1850, to well off parents who, however, didn t get along well and eventually separated in 1863. The separation of his parents caused Maupassant to receive two very different kinds of upbringings. His debauched father, Gustave de Maupassant, saw no trouble in engaging his son in a similar life of titillation whereas his mother, Laure Le Poitevin, introduced him to English and Italian literary classics. He received his early education from his mother and later at a Lyceum. He began studying law in Paris at the age of nineteen which was cut short by the Franco Prussian war of 1870, when he enrolled in the army. After his discharge and a period of unrest, Maupassant finally settled down with a stable job in Civil Service in Paris in 1872. The ennui of his work was comforted by outdoor activities that include excursions in the countryside, canoe trips down the Seine, and even by women, often prostitutes. Power is critical for the performance of sports that require quick changes in directions, jumping, and sprinting.1 To increase power production a number of plyometric exercises and programs can be performed. The theory of specificity plays a large role in deciding what plyometric exercises should be performed to improve power output.2 The theory states that the exercises should replicate the movement as closely as possible for the best results.1,3 Plyometrics are used to increase muscular power output and is accomplished by training the muscles to do more work in a shorter amount of time.1,4 The purpose of this report is to review the literature on the effects of plyometric exercises on power production. Mechanical Model of Polymeric Exercise The mechanical model has three critical components to explain how force production occurs in skeletal muscle. The three components of the mechanical model (Figure 1.) are the contractile component (CC), the parallel elastic component (PEC) and the series elastic component (SEC).5,6 The (CC) are made up of actin, myosin, and cross bridges that produce the primary force during a muscle contraction.6,7 The PEC is made up of the epimysium, perimysium, endomysium and the muscle fiber.6,8,9 This formation of connective tissue exerts a passive resistive force when stretched. Beautiful Music of the Middle Ages Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul, it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us Martin Luther. Music was a part of life then and it is a part of life today. Without music, life itself would be a mistake. Seeing the changes over the years is a great way to follow the patterns and differences this way of communicating has shown us. Some of the more popular music was the Gregorian Chant, Organum, Motet and Madrigal. In the early Middle Ages around 590 ACE the Gregorian Chant was popularized by Pope Gregory the Fourth. The Gregorian Chant was a form of monophonic tune of the Roman Catholic Church (Music Through the Ages). Monophonic is a musical style employing a single melodic line without accompaniment. This style was oral by tradition and only served as a memory aid for a singer who already knew the melody (http://en.wikipedia.org). Memorizing is a difficult task, it is even harder to memorize music that was taught to them orally. Gregorian melodies are traditionally written using neumes, an early form of musical notation (http://www.britannica.com). These neumes later formed the modern four and five line staff development. Being a monophonic tune the Gregorian Chant was losing interest and a new style was born. In the Musica Enchiriadis musical handbook , Organum consisted of two melodic lines moving simultaneously note against note. Organum changed the way of music for the medieval people; ... Republicans and Democrats agree that the current tax code is complex, unfair, and costly. The income tax system is so complex; the IRS publishes 480 tax forms and 280 forms to explain the 480 forms (Armey 1). The main reason the tax system is so complex is because of the special preferences such as deductions and tax credits. Complexity in the current tax system forces Americans to spend 5.4 billion hours complying with the tax code, which is more time than it takes to manufacture every car, truck and van produced in the United States (Armey 1). After World War II, the average family sent only about three percent of its income to Washington. The same family today gives 24 percent of its income to the federal tax collector (Mitchell 1, 9). Once state and local taxes are added to the federal take, taxes make up the biggest slice of the average family s budget. As Daniel Mitchell of the Heritage Foundation shows in Figure 1, the typical American family now pays more of its budget in taxes than it spends on food, clothing, transportation and shelter combined (Mitchell 1, 10). Policy makers have introduced a solution to the staggering proportion of taxes that Americans spend. The flat tax, based on an idea developed by Professors Robert Hall and Alvin Rabushka of Stanford University to create a fair, simple, and pro growth tax system (Mitchell 1, 11). There are four basic criteria that make up a flat tax. First is a single low rate on taxable income, the baseline for taxable income would be raised to a certain amount dictated by a personal exemption. Symbolism Of Society In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies William Golding s modern classic, Lord of the Flies showcases a group of boys stranded on an island, in hopes of rescue and survival. This depicts how a society of boys would function if civilization had not been forced on them. Moreover, this novel shows us Golding s inner kept judgement of the function of society. The boys first meet together on the island by using what later becomes a symbol of law; the conch. It is first used as an object to keep order amongst the boys, but later becomes the center of conflict between two clashing tribes. It represents the battle between order and chaos, and the outcome is Golding s view of which rules in society. A constant occurrence in the book is the bullying of the characters, Simon and Piggy. Although these characters contributed greatly to the development of the group, their actions were never appreciated. They were both outcasts in the tribe, never listened to, nor included in any conversations. Golding represents these characters as religion and intelligence, and so the outcast of these boys gives us a window into which parts of society the author deems are valuable and unnecessary. Jack, the antagonist in the book is portrayed as a vile, aggressive creature. He and his hunters become obsessed with bloodshed and macabre, and so they kill to satisfy their needs. Introduction: Research Question: How does changing the volume of Hydrochloric Acid on Sodium Thiosulphate effect the time taken for the X Mark to dissapear? The rate of a chemical reaction is the time required for a given quantity of reactant to be changed to product. The unit of time may be seconds, minutes, hours, days or years. For a chemical reaction to occur it needs to have a collision, and it is affected by several factors, such as temperature increases in general increase the rate of reaction, for the example 2O°C rise in temperature doubles the reaction rate. Catalysts affect the rate by using or allowing a different pathway for the reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The scientific result for this experimet is the results from preliminary experiments support the prediction made. From the results you can see that there is a directly proportional relationship between the concentration and the rate of reaction. Ifyou increase the concentration then the rate of reaction will also increase. The volume of a solution will effect the rate of reaction because the rate of reaction depends on how much the molecules of reacting substance will collide, more volume of HCL make the reaction of Sodium Thiosulphate and HCL to react faster. This experiment is testing how the rate of reaction is affected when volume is changed. The theory is said that increasing the volume can increase the rate of reaction by increasing the rate of molecular collisions.
