Market Forces Shape Organisational Responses
Countries that use Economic Systems
The Economy of England is the largest economy of the four countries of the United Kingdom.
England is a highly industrialized country. It is an important producer of textiles and chemical
products. Although automobiles, locomotives and aircraft are among England s other important
industrial products, a significant proportion of the country s income comes from the City of London.
Since the 1990s, the financial services sector has played an increasingly significant role in the English
economy and the City of London is one of the world s largest financial centers . Banks, insurance
companies, commodity and futures exchanges are heavily concentrated in the City. The British pound
sterling is the official ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fiscal policy is much more effective at promoting economic growth than monetary policy. This is
because if using monetary policy to reduce the cost of money has no effect on the exchange rate, it
does nothing to stimulate exports and discourages imports.
Effectiveness of the Monetary Policy
Monetary policy is a more effective tool for economic stimulus than fiscal policy under a floating
exchange rate system, in other words a system in which the currencies of trading countries can
increase or decrease in value. For example attempts to stimulate economic growth by reducing the
cost of money (cutting interest rates), the resulting effects on the exchange rate reducing it against
other currencies will stimulate exports while making imports more expensive. This adds impetus to
the intended economic stimulus.
Responsible Institutions
A combination of fiscal and monetary policy is generally used to steer the economy in a desired
direction. Although governments direct fiscal policy, many countries delegate responsibility for
monetary policy to central banks. This strategy prevents governments from manipulating interest rates
for short term political advantage and promotes stability in the money supply as well as in the price of
goods.

The Great Principles Of The American Revolution
The creation of the American nation became what it is today from years of struggle in which the
common people, as well as the Founding Fathers, played a vital part for independence. The promise of
the Revolution, a nation based on the republican ideals of liberty, independence, and equality, was to
some extent achieved. Yet the great principles of the Revolution have long shaped our thoughts of
what it means to be an American. All the events leading up and after the American Revolution will
have effects on the common people. The story of George Robert Twelves Hewes helps historians
comprehend the part that the common people played in their struggle for freedom and republican
ideals they wanted to achieve for the generations to come in the new nation. The common people were
important because if they didn t join John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and other wealthy leaders then
the American Revolution would have never taken place. The common people made up the bulk of the
Continental Army, without convincing the bulk of those people, they would have stayed loyal the King
George III. The common people in the colonial era of the United States were made mostly up of
people that worked in trade areas such as shoemakers, smiths, carpenters, and other trades within that
time. Most of them were poor, especially if a colonist was in the shoemaking trade. John Adams, said
that shoemaking was, too mean and diminutive an occupation, to hold a client of his who wanted to
rise in the world. 1

Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Erich Maria...
World War I was a global war that originated in Europe and lasted from July 1914 to November 1918.
Two writers that described their feelings during the war were Erich Maria Remarque, who wrote All
Quiet on the Western Front, and Edward Thomas, who wrote This is no case of petty right or wrong .
While Thomas uses metaphors and an aggravated tone to reveal why patriotism is more beneficial
than nationalism in his poem, Remarque more effectively presents this theme through his more
extensive use of specific metaphors, accusatory word choice, and emotional tone in his novel. As an
example, Remarque is superior in the metaphors that he uses to describe the war and its negative
impacts, thus making a more effective argument for patriotism and against ... Show more content on

For example, Thomas uses We love ourselves as we hate her foe (Thomas 26). Thomas does not hate
other countries more than he loves England. This shows the distinction between his view and
nationalism, where Thomas would hate other countries more than he loves his. Thus, the reason why
he wants to protect England is so that he can protect his own freedom. Remarque, on the other hand,
has much stronger tone and word choice, which makes it more clear that Remarque is patriotic while
also differentiating himself from the nationalist point of view. We loved our country as much as they;
we went courageously into every action; but also we distinguished the false from the true, we had
suddenly learned to see (Remarque 26). Here, courageously is referencing the fact that many of the
soldiers were patriotic indeed, but the nationalist propaganda that authority was feeding them was
fake. Thus, the soldiers are now able to see the amount of destruction that the nationalism had caused.
Therefore, unlike Thomas, Remarque is able to add more depth about how others felt during the war
to his arguments. Another quote Remarque uses shows how he can vary his tone to outline the
innocence of the soldiers patriotism. It s queer, when one thinks about it, goes on Kropp, we are here
to protect our fatherland. And the French are over there to protect their fatherland. Now

Building Trust And Cooperation Within The Worker Client...
Another element from the conversation that makes sense to me, and I will be more conscious of in the
future, is the explanation of how our clients not reaching their goals, or not being able to achieve a
certain task, as an opportunity to explore why not and to give them more positive reinforcements
rather than to count not accomplishing tasks as failures against them (Quartz, March 7, 2016). I can
see these practices as ways to build trust and cooperation within the worker client relationship.
C. Elements that I already knew about and furthered and/or clarified my knowledge and understanding
throughout the semester...
While I understood that clarifying roles involves social workers helping clients understand the nature
of the process and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another element that I will use in future practice, that I was aware of in another context, is part of the
relationship building process of supporting the client coming to terms with their history, the present
situation, and their future. We discussed using timeframes to help clients with this process, which is
something I had not thought of to use in the context of this course but it makes sense and I will use it
in the future. In policy analyse and political science, this method is used in understanding policies, the
history of wars, revolutions, and social movements so of course it makes sense to apply it to clients
with tumultuous histories to help them understand where their current challenges stem from and to
support their moving forward I can see the process of healing and moving forward as somewhat of a
personal revolution.
In the chapter Problem Solving, Trotter (2006c) outlines the seven steps 1. Problem survey; 2.
Problem ranking; 3. Problem exploration; 4. Setting goals; 5. Developing a contract; 6. Developing
strategies and tasks; and 7. Ongoing review of problem solving (p. 110). These are all steps that I was
trained to preform during service assessments but with a strengths base approach and viewed through
the lens of client centered and general systems theories, which I find to be complementary
accompaniments to Trotter s approach. One of the suggestions that I found helpful and will
incorporate into my future practice is the author s

Catapult Project Essay
This catapult project exemplifies and strengthened my current knowledge of parabolas that we have
learned during class. Using our skills, my group Katrina, Brandon, Michelle, and I created an
interesting catapult which would thrust a ping pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also
known as a parabola. During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a
graph and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey consistent.
Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done.
Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create our own catapult.
Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot glue, rubber bands, and a spoon,
we created the our own, unique catapult. First off, we created a square with four popsicle overlapping
each other. Then we created another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards.
Then we got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at an
angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. We connected rubber bands to the
spoon so that once we pull the spoon to ground zero, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my group members were confused as to why ax^2 is negative, but that is because the ping
pong ball has to come down at a certain point. With this in mind, our group had to start at ground zero
since we can t start at a negative point. Or graph wouldn t make sense because the ping pong ball
cannot go down into the ground. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the
calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. Instead of doing all the
unneeded work, we plugged in our vertex into the formula a(x h)^2+k. So this way, our vertex form
equation would come out to be

Court Trial Essay
The criminal trials I attended at the Boone County Courthouse where very interesting because it was
not the first time ever being in a courthouse and courtroom. I have seen some courtrooms through
videos of trials or pictures from high profile cases such as the shooter in Colorado who opened fire in
a movie theater during Batman in 2012 and I have been to a small courthouse in Calvert County
Maryland. The difference between these two courtrooms was the size and number of people present.
At the Boone County Courthouse the room was small and had a large amount of people ready to see
the Judge. Some of the people present included: the Bailiff, who did his job by making sure everyone
had a seat, was situated and quiet during the court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sentencing was in response to the multiple times this gentleman was charged with the same
crime.
The difference between the Bonne County court and the Calvert County court is the size and how
quickly cases where moved through the system. In the Calvert County courtroom I sat and watched
the cases where processed slow and meticulous even the requests for a change of date moved slowly.
While in attendance in Calvert County I heard the judge ask how defendants mothers or families
where and even postpone court dates or sentencing so farmers could bring crops in or so people could
attend family functions. Even the sentencing was odd back home people could get sentenced to just
weekends or even just nights in jail I heard one sentence where someone had to spend every weekend
in jail for the next year, which I thought was strange but the judge said after the sentence that it was to
keep the farms working. In Boone County the courtroom seemed more formal and less personal than a
small town. The judge only cared for the rule of law and not about family matters or the occupation of
the defendant and this is the way a judge should act in my opinion. The personal approach that judges
take in Calvert County compared to Boone County is more influential than an impersonal approach
because people do not want to be seen as just a number. A friend of mine who saw his day in court in
Calvert County said that the judge was very friendly and

Epilogue To William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
We fell out of the sky today. I don t know where we crashed. Other boys were on the plane so they had
to be around here somewhere, but there are no grownups that s what Ralph said. Ralph thinks we re on
an island and he s been calling me Piggy. I don t want him to call me that; that s what the boys at
school call me. He s been making fun of my asthma too. Anyways, he said his dad is in the Navy and
he s going to come rescue us. Ralph spotted a shell in the water I told him it was a conch and I
remember someone that had one and would blow into it and his mum would come. Ralph blew into it
(it took a couple of tries), and then children started appearing. There were a bunch. There were these
twins, Sam n Eric and Jack Merridew and his choir. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph said the beast had teeth and big, black eyes. I m kind of scared now. Jack took the conch and
started blowing into it like he don t know what he s doing. He said that Ralph shouldn t be the chief
because he s a coward. But we took a vote again to see who should be chief and no one voted for Jack.
Then he stormed away saying that he was going to hunt by himself and you could join him. We don t
need Jack; we can do without him. I suggested we moved the fire to down here on the beach so we
don t have to go up on that mountain. We made a new fire. I noticed some boys like Maurice, Bill, and
Roger left I expect they joined Jack s tribe. We don t need em anyways. Ralph and me had done some
talking: he doesn t know what to do and is losing faith in getting rescued. I told him we just got to
move on be like the grownups. Then Jack and some of his hunters burst out of the trees making loud
noises. I thought they were after the conch so I went to protect that. He told us he was having a feast
and we could join him in his tribe. His hunters stole some fire from us during their

How does a cart change its motion when you push and pull on it? You might think that the harder you
push on a cart, the faster it goes. Is the cart s velocity related to the force you apply? Or does the force
just change the velocity? Also, what does the mass of the cart have to do with how the motion
changes? We know that it takes a much harder push to get a heavy cart moving than a lighter one.
A Force Sensor and an Accelerometer will let you measure the force on a cart simultaneously with the
cart s acceleration. The total mass of the cart is easy to vary by adding masses. Using these tools, you
can determine how the net force on the cart, its mass, and its acceleration are related. This relationship

Mr Ferdinand Porsche Dbq
This historical investigation is focused on two areas, firstly to what extent and impact did the great
Nazi engineer Ferdinand Porsche had on Germany s effort to gain power throughout history. A critical
analysis of the actions of Ferdinand Porsche and the Porsche company during the rise and fall of the
Nazi empire during 1933 to 1945 in Germany and Europe will be looked at. Secondly, to what extent
was Porsche s products engineering to blame for this fall. However the German economy had already
bled out and could not survive even though they had the brilliance of Ferdinand Porsche and his
engineering on their side. This historical investigation has found clearly that Ferdinand Porsche did
indeed have a great impact on Germany s efforts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this a different viewpoint is achieved, whilst assisting Germany and the Nazis he also
helped assist the UUSR with weapons. Though this source does not have a reliable stem and does not
seem to be backed by any other grounded proof.
Source D also bring in another aspect. That is that Ferdinand Porsche was at a small extent to blame
for the fall of this regime. The evidence is there and should not be neglected. The argument put forth is
one that the calibre of Mr Ferdinand Porsche s weapons were far inferior to that of the allies and were
not advanced enough. Due to this fault the German regime was deteriorating as they could not fend of
their competitors.
However these viewpoints are weak and are simply not logical. A man of calibre such as Mr
Ferdinand Porsche would not have aided the USSR with weaponry, simply due to his personal
relationship to Adolf Hitler and his strong connection to Nazism. But indeed the third aspect
mentioned should definitely be taken into account. That is that the caliber and capacity of his weapons
were inferior to that of the Western allies which intern puts a minute extent of the blame of the Nazi
empire on Mr

18th Street Gang Case Study
This paper will discuss organized crime and use the case of a youth gang called the 18th Street Gang,
the largest youth gang in the Western Hemisphere, to answer the question: Why do youth join gangs?
The members of the 18th Street Gang have so much power that they were able to control the entire
transportation system in El Salvador (Markham 2015). Members open fired at passengers and drivers,
torched down busses and killed people who were riding in pickup trucks as an alternative way to get
to and from work (Markham 2015).
So what factors lead up this sort of group violence and how are members recruited? This paper will
discuss three factors that contribute to youth joining gangs. Firstly, association with delinquent peers
is a great predictor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies show that there is a link between parent child bonds and if there is a strong bond between
parents and their child that child is less inclined to engage in delinquent behaviour (Young, Fitzgibbon
and Silverstone 2014). To support this argument, a study done by Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone
(2014) examined levels and trends of delinquency in different types of families such as extended
families, single parent families and the size of the family. Results showed that those who came from
extended families are more likely to join a youth gang versus those who came from smaller families
(Young, Fitzgibbon and Silverstone 2014). Moreover, delinquency rates of those who came from non
traditional homes is 10 15% higher than those from traditional homes (Young, Fitzgibbon and
Silverstone 2014). This shows that in larger families and in families where there is a single parent, the
child is less supervised and therefore, there is a lack of attachment and bonds between family
members. Therefore, youth under these conditions are more likely to join a youth

Silibinin Research Paper
Although Amanita phalloide resembles a small and adorable umbrella, its dreadful virulence is
extremely hazardous. Amanita phalloides is one of the most poisonous of all known toadstools and it
is estimated that only half a mushroom contains enough toxin to kill an adult person. It has proved that
possibly the deaths of Roman Emperor Claudius in AD 54 and Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI in
1740 is caused by it. The principal toxic constituent is α amanitin, a highly stable protein that the body
has great difficulty in completely eliminating, which damages the liver and kidneys, causing hepatic
and renal failure that can be fatal. The specific reason why alpha amanitin has such strong effect is
that it is a potent inhibitor of DNA dependent RNA polymerase II. It obstructs the formation of
mRNA, eventually stops the constitution of protein and induces apoptosis especially in ... Show more

A new helpful treatment for amatoxin poisonings is intravenous silibinin, a derivative of milk thistle.
Silibinin protects the liver by preventing the uptake of amatoxin by the liver cells. Once the amatoxins
are eliminated from the body, the liver can quickly recover. [4] Nevertheless, Amanita phalloide, such
an incredibly toxic mushroom, becomes an important study object in MD Anderson Cancer Center
which might be used to cure cancer. It is also unimaginable that α amanitin is the main substance used
in α amanitin based antibody drug, which have positive application. In fact, amanitin, as a highly toxic
peptide that is produced by the death cap and that selectively inhibits mammalian RNA polymerase
[5], contains many categories (α amanitin, β amanitin, γ amanitin and ε Amanitin). α amanitin is a

Religion In Ancient Egypt And Mesopotamia
Religion in the ancient civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia played a significant role in developing
and organizing the society. Based on the common belief of the world s divine creation, both
civilizations had regular rituals and ceremonies to honor the supernatural beings. In rituals and
ceremonies, the cult was expressed as the manifestation of components that symbolized the divine
such as the cult images, temples, and shrines. Since religion was an important aspect in the people s
daily lives, it also had an impact on the ruling system in the two civilizations. Even though Ancient
Egypt and Mesopotamia have similar foundational beliefs about the cult, different cultic practices

Similar to Egyptians, Mesopotamians were polytheists and their gods created the natural phenomena.
However, the temple in each city state mainly worshipped a local god and was the central power in the
city. The Mesopotamians ascribed human s appearance and characteristics to represent their deities.
The presence of the cult image in the temple indicated the presence of the deity in the city. Each cult
image of the local god was placed in the city s largest and most sophisticated sanctuary. For instance,
the cult image of Marduk Babylon s city deity resided in the Esagila temple. Mesopotamians believed
the shrine of the Esagila temple was the heart of the universe. According to the inscriptions in the
Steinplatten, the cult statue, the walls and the ceilings of the sanctuary were plated in gold. In practice
of the daily ritual, the servants or priests of the temple cleansed and dressed the cult statue in new
clothes. Since the priests directly served the patron city god, they were respected by common people.
Additionally, the inscriptions from king Neriglissar s cylinder revealed that he was submissive to the
gods and thus the king s power was shared to the priests and the local government. Local government
governed the city and controlled the economy on behalf of the city s god. Consequently, the cult s
control over the economy and society was limited inside the city state. Ancient Egyptians and
Mesopotamians believed in

Ellen Degeneres is known for making one of the biggest changes in the world. Ellen among other
several other people fought for what they believed was right. They were fighting for freedom of the
same sex marriage, transgender issues and bisexuality issues in the world. We should care about this
topic because everybody should have the right to marry or be with the one person they love and we
don t have to be all judgmental about it, we have to be supportive to these people. Ellen Degeneres is a
very inspiring person in my life because she stood up for what she loved, she fought with people
among her to fight for what they believed was right and she also helped people understand, especially
kids that being gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender wasn t such a bad thing.
Ellen is a very big risk taker, but also really brave to speak the truth that most people see as lies, just

What guidance do you offer for John s mother?
Johns is an inexperienced adolescent in negotiation and he may often argue a point to excess. Arguing

Essay On The Parthenon
The years 477 to 431 B.C., saw the city of Athens experiencing a huge growth in intellectual and
artistic learning. This was known as the Golden Age of Athens. The Golden Age was one of the most
memorable in the history of the world. This was a period that introduce drama, music, literature,
architecture, art, and philosophy in Athens. It was a period categorized by such high and diverse levels
of achievement that many astute intellectuals refer to the experience as the Greek miracle . Even those
individuals who did not believe that such miracles can happen actually acknowledge that it is possible

This temple was dedicated to the goddess Athena who is the personification of arts and craft. When
construction started on the Parthenon in 447BC, the empire of Athena was at the height pf its power.
Construction on the Parthenon was completed in 432. At that time, the Parthenon represents the
distinct and the noticeable flourishing of Athenian sovereign power, freedom by the devastation of the
Peloponnesian War. Similarly, it stands for the power and influence of the Athenian politician,
Pericles, who advocated for its construction. The Parthenon was designed in the Doric style of
architecture but also have some features from the Ionic and Corinthian style. All four sides of the
temple reflects clarity, reverence, balance, and harmonious proportion. The Parthenon is made up of
freestanding columns on the outside which are thirty four feet tall, with two additional rows of
columns that provide an inner porch. The top portion of the temple is triangular with several sculptors,
including Zeus, Athena, Hera, and the three goddesses. It was painted in bright colors and so was the
sections of the building that were decorated. The east pediment was in honor of the birth of Athena
while the west pediment showcased the contest between Poseidon and Athena for power of Athens.

The White Bollywood
From Raja Harishchandra (1913) to The Good Road (2013), the cinema of India, an extremely
important part of our cultural identity celebrating its centenary this year. Has been working as an
ambassador of India to a global audience since the day of its inception. In India, it is often seen that
films made in Hindi targeted at a larger audience, commonly known as mainstream movies or
Bollywood films, employ a different grammar of filmmaking than that is used in so called sensible or
parallel cinema while representing or portraying different aspects and sections of society, race, culture,
gender and class. In this paper, I try to focus on the representations of Caucasian characters, or the

If Hollywood has techniques that permit its fictional world to appear internally coherent and invisibly
put together, Indian films are orchestrated by another sensibility of coherence and reality (Jaikumar
25). This another sense of coherence and reality often plays a vital role in the portrayal of characters
belonging to different ethnic backgrounds in the mainstream Bollywood flicks. The reason why non
Indian characters from the subcontinent, i.e. the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, Bhutanese,
Afghans or Sri Lankans are not being considered in this discussion is that the socio cultural gap
between India and her neighbouring countries are relatively less and how they are portrayed in
Bollywood films demands a new discussion altogether due to extremely convoluted bilateral or
multilateral political, social and historical relationships between India and any of these countries.
Unlike the Hollywood, where in the 1930s, white actors had to play Asian roles by putting on extra
make up, Hindi films had white actors playing white characters. Among the Hollywood films, we see
Douglass Dumbrille playing Mohammed Khan and Noble Johnson playing Ram Singh in the famous
Gary Cooper film The Lives of a Bengal Lancer (dir. Henry Hathaway/ 1935), C. Henry Gordon as
Surat Khan, J. Carroll Naish as Subedar Major Puran Singh and Scotty Beckett as Prema Singh in the

Advertising Effects Of The Counter And Prescription Drug...
Advertising Effects of Over the Counter and Prescription drug on Consumer Purchasing Habits
By Celise Blackman
Mass Communications Research
Professor Roman
Introduction
This study looks at how prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) are advertised and
how that potentially effects buying habits of consumers. There have been studies on this in the past but
researchers failed to consider important factors such as age, exposure to advertising, health conditions
of their audience. Results of this study could allow advertisers to consider our findings when
producing advertisements. Consumers who see this study may also choose to do their own research on
the Rx or OTC they consider purchasing. Also, medical professionals that have the authority to write
Rx for their patients would be better informed of how the advertisements are perceived, causing them
to present these drugs more or less. Now, this could negatively affect the pharmaceutical drug industry
financially if doctors stop using their advertisements. However, that is not our goal in this study, just
mearly a side effect.
Literary Review
Studies have shown that advertisements for prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC)
can be perceived differently depending on the audience. Furthermore, according to Alperstein (2014),
in relation to Rx drugs,
Pharmaceutical marketers historically avoided advertising directly to young adults, and by agreement

The Personal Plan Of Action
Personal Plan of Action
According to Eric Sheninger, effective principals are instructional leaders, create a positive school
climate, employ quality teachers, are organized, has great communication skills, and has a sense of
professionalism. Many of these qualities are traits that I feel I have and are continually being
strengthened by the knowledge I acquire through my graduate courses and the role as FCIM
facilitator. I hope that through hard work and diligence I will receive an assistant principal
appointment in the next two years, and ultimately a principalship in the next five years.
As a principal, I will be a curriculum leader on my campuses, especially classroom instruction. I will
spend a high percent of my time walking the hallways, devoting the majority of my efforts to evaluate,
and coaching and supporting my teachers in doing their job. I will serve as an expert in curriculum and
exercise my expertise by providing professional development, providing specific feedback, and
modeling lesson in the classrooms. I believe I have a strong background in curriculum, and I will
continue professionally developing my curriculum knowledge, ultimately making me a great
instructional leader.
Teachers are the single most important school level factor in students learning (Johnson, 2012).

Surveillance Is A Breach Of Privacy
Surveillance is often a violation of privacy, most people don t realise to what extent they are being
watched. Some people believe surveillance is a breach of their own privacy rules. The purpose of
surveillance is to influence, manage and protect societies through monitoring people s behaviors and
movements. There has been a new application developed for surveillance known as crowdsourcing.
Crowdsourcing was coined by Jeff Howe as when a company takes a job which was once performed
by employees and outsources it in the form of an open call to a large undefined group of people
generally using the Internet (Brabham 18).
This new application has dramatically changed the way citizens use the Internet, from becoming a
place where you could not only store information but where people could retrieve and collaborate
some of their own content as well as other people s information in the context of a virtual space. As a
result, the development of crowdsourcing and other various new models showcased via the Internet
have contributed to a shift in the Internet termed web 2.0. Web 2.0 has been applied to various
technologies, products and approaches, the Internet is not just a linear, centralized structure that just
shows information from the professionals, instead it is a open distributed network, a concept loosely
termed as the crowd (Tewksbury 251). I will discuss two readings on this new concept of
crowdsourcing Tewksbury s reading, Crowdsourcing homeland security: The Texas

Who Is Jarecki Justified In Capturing The Friedmans Truly...
In True Confessions, Sort of, Paul Arthur delves into filmmaker Andrew Jarecki s questionable ethics
in presenting Capturing the Friedmans. More specifically, does Jarecki s operating under the guise of
neutrality enable (him) to evade responsibility for dealing with the complexities of his material?
(Arthur 7). Furthermore, does a documentary have a moral obligation to its viewers, or is it simply
there to present a riveting story?
Capturing the Friedmans details the horrific case of Arthur Friedman and his son, Jessie, who were
accused and convicted of child molestation. The documentary not only centers on Arthur and Jessie
but also provides intimate glimpses of this dysfunctional family. Through the use of home videos
dispersed with interviews, the film simultaneously portrays an upwardly mobile family from a wealthy
suburb of Long Island and their down ward spiral caused by these ... Show more content on

However, was this truly accurate? Was Jarecki really in search of the elusive truth or was it actually a
mutually enhancing exploitation? (Arthur 6) In the film we see conflicting testimonies and interviews
but Jarecki rarely delves deeper and seems to omit presumably important facts (i.e. where were Elaine
and the other siblings during computer class?). It seems that Jarecki is more concerned about telling a
compelling story than uncovering the truth behind the case. In addition, one questions whether the
filmmaker was in fact neutral or did he employ dramatic liberties (to) distort actuality? (Arthur 5) In
the documentary we see Jessie stating that it is not appropriate to have to answer for the sins of my
Father, which hints at Jarecki s belief that Jessie is in fact innocent and wrongly convicted. This
demonstrates Jarecki s lack of neutrality, which is supported by the fact that Jarecki mounted a legal
defense for Jessie following the film s

President Ronald Reagan s Speech
On June 12, 1987, the United States 40th President, Ronald Reagan, gave one of his most famous
speeches, Remarks at the Brandenburg Gate. In this speech Reagan s aimed to expand democracy
through Easter Berlin. Throughout the speech, Reagan used rhetorical devices that made his speech
affective. By balancing ethos, logos and pathos in his speech Reagan was able to persuade the Soviet
Union leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, and his partisans take a step forward in creating a world piece and
reunite East Berlin with West Berlin. Reagan also used repetition, strands as well as Maslow s
Hierarchy of Needs to address his audience s principal needs.
In this speech, Remarks at the Brandenburg Gate, President Ronald Reagan used problem solution
organization style to get his main points across. Throughout the speech, Reagan provided some of the
issues that the people in East and West Berlin faced and then proffered few simple solutions that could
resolve those problems. Demolishing the Berlin Wall was one solution that was proposed by Reagan.
The Berlin Wall service as a barrier that divided families and friends, which interrupted; the Berlin
Wall also prevents democracy from spreading to East Germany. Reagan used language that was easy
to comprehend, he knew who his audiences were whether they oppose him or supposed him. As a

A Comparison between Madame Bovary and The Awakening Essay
Similarities Between Madame Bovary and The Awakening
Centuries ago, in France, Gustave Flaubert wrote Madame Bovary. In 1899, Kate Chopin wrote The
Awakening. The years cannot separate the books, and the definite similarities that the two show.
Madame Bovary is the story of a woman who is not content with her life, and searches for ways to get
away from the torture she lives everyday. The Awakening, much like Bovary, features a woman who is
unhappy with her life, and wishes to find new adventures. The two books bear very strong similarities
to each other, and the plots are almost exactly the same, though there are some subtle differences.

Epstein Barr Research Paper
Epstein Barr Virus, also known as human herpesvirus type 4, is a common infectious virus that will
affect greater than 85% of the population at least once in their lifetime. The virus was first discovered
by, and named after, Sir Michael Anthony Epstein and Yvonne Mr. Barr in 1964 in the midst of
researching a case of Burkitt s lymphoma. The Epstein Barr virus is predominately found in a host s
saliva, and is transmitted through direct and indirect contact with the infected person s bodily fluids.
Epstein Barr virus (EBV) is responsible for numerous infections that can take place throughout the
body, most commonly acute infectious mononucleosis. Infectious mononucleosis, simply referred to
as mono, is an illness that is directly caused by the Epstein Barr virus and can frequently affect
toddlers, teenagers, and adults. EBV, along with infectious mononucleosis, is primarily spread from

Siddhartha and Govinda Essay
Siddhartha and Govinda Siddhartha, written by Herman Heese, is a book about a man s journey to find
his inner self beginning when he is young and ending when he is of old age. Siddhartha, while on this
quest, searched for different mentors to teach him what they know, hoping to find truth and balance in
and of the universe. At the end of the novel, Siddhartha reaches the enlightenment through many
teachings.
Govinda, Siddhartha dearest friend and confident, is often viewed as his Siddhartha s follower, or as
his shadow. In the beginning, Siddhartha goes with Gotama to hear the teachings of the Buddha, and
Govinda remains with Buddha to become his disciple. Siddhartha believes that each person must find

After being asked how he was able to reach enlightenment, Siddhartha draws the distinction between
knowledge and wisdom. He says, No, I am telling you what I discovered. Knowledge can be
communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, be forfeited by it, do wonders through it, but
one cannot communicate and teach it. (115).
Siddhartha shares many teachings he has learned with Govinda. Siddhartha holds up a stone in
example, showing that one thing is enfolded in the past, present, and future. He also stated that
language is only a device, and that wisdom is not communicable. This means that, through experience,
wisdom is attainable, but if you trying to teach enlightenment, the meaning will not be fully
appreciated to whom it is taught.
We also learn that not only Samana has left its mark on Siddhartha, but that also his brief contact with
Buddha left its mark also. The Buddhist doctrine shows two opposites are Samsara and Nirvana. All
truth has these two opposites, the truth side and the illusion side.
When Gotama admits he has still not found peace, he suddenly has an inexpressible experience much
like Siddhartha had when he met Vasudeva years before. Siddhartha then summons Govinda to kiss
him on the forehead. Govinda feels as if he is touching perfection, the illustrious one, eternity, and
gets a mystical transference from Siddhartha.

personal priorities. This requires a combination of listening skills, to listen one s self and to others to
complete the assignments and tasks in order of importance. Habit four is to seek a win win. This
means to see life as cooperative not competitive. A person who does this often times has integrity,
maturity and abundance mentality. This habit also requires combination listening. One needs to listen
to themselves so they may offer their true ideas to others and listen to others to collaborate and create

Why Did North Korea To Launch A Ballistic Missile
Recently, many Eastern Asian countries have been faced with the facts that the D.P.R.K or in other
words North Korea, can and may launch a ballistic missile at their homeland. North Korea has been in
the missile making business for about five and a half decades, and working frantically to develop an
ICBM or intercontinental ballistic missile that can reach the mainland of the United States. The
D.P.R.K s main goal is to continue testing and finally launch a missile at the United States. This can be
tracked down to the time of Kim Il Sung, and Soviet influence. When North Korea finally gets to the
capacity, when they can launch an ICBM, they will not stop until the United States is destroyed. This
is why North Korea will keep up their missile ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
North Korea appears to have ambitious plans for developing new long range missiles and has begun
deploying new cruise missiles, short range tactical missiles, and unarmed aerial vehicles (UAVs)
(McGrath). According to McGrath, North Korea has been developing several long range missiles that
could destroy United States bases in the Pacific. The developing missiles could potentially be capable
of a range of 7,000 to 9,500 kilometers and hold a 500 to 700 ton warhead. Recent, evidence suggests
that North Korea is developing multi stage missiles which can travel much longer distances than a
single stage missile. In addition to multi stage missiles, North Korea has been testing out solid fueled
systems. Lastly, North Korea has the ambition to modernize their tactical and cruise

Wuthering Heights Thesis
At the center of Wuthering Heights lies a tragic vision of decay and detachment which depends
completely on the severances Emily Bronte has created between characters, estates, and social
statuses. Bronte reveals societal flaws that had never before been recognized during her time and
creates a raw vision of Victorian life; one in which the differences between characters and their social
standings outweigh their true beliefs and desires when it comes to who they choose to be, who they
choose to surround themselves with, and how they choose to treat those around them. In its most
distinct form, Wuthering Heights is a love story that chronicles the lives of Catherine Earnshaw and
Heathcliff, regardless of the distance between them. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bronte illustrates the Heights as having a very blunt and intimidating appearance. It is a very strong
and prominent structure, however it proves to be a very desolate and lonely place. Likewise, those
who inhabit it prove to be somewhat tormented souls. Nelly describes Heathcliff after his subjection to
the Heights without Catherine, A half civilized ferocity lurked yet in the depressed brows and eyes full
of black fire, but it was subdued; and his manner was even dignified: quite divested of roughness,
though too stern for grace (Bronte, 95). Just a few miles away, the Grange represents sanity and
sensibility with its refinement and pleasant appearance. The civility of its inhabitants, the Lintons, and
their distinguished status stand in stark contrast to the more disturbed Wuthering Heights. Bronte takes
great care to create these images of the two estates for readers because it is what they stand for that
drives Catherine and Heathcliff apart in the first place. Ironically, Bronte also uses setting to reunite
Catherine and Heathcliff. The moors that separate the two estates represent a sort of heaven for the
two, where they used to lose themselves when they were young, the only place either of the two ever
truly felt they belonged. It is here that the two roam together in the afterlife.
As previously discussed, Bronte is fully aware of the division between

Ernest J. Gaines A Gathering Of Old Men
In the book, A Gathering of Old Men , by Ernest J. Gaines, there are some events that corresponds to
issues Malcom X responds to in his speech The Ballot or the Bullet . Mathu s believes in his respect as
an equal person and gains it by not fearing white people. However, the preacher Jameson fears the
whites and is scared of the consequences of standing up to them. In the book, times have changed and
racism is slowly dying. In the story, A Gathering of Old Men , Mathu was a character that was
respected, because he feared no one. When Beau was shot dead on Mathu s lawn, he stated, If Fix
started anything, I am going to protect myself (Gaines30). Being that Fix is a white man, going against
a white man at that time can lead blacks into a lot of trouble, such as being lynched. Yet, Mathu was
still prepared for the fight. If Mathu did not have the respect he has, then he would have been lynched
the moment he and Fix had the altercation at the store. According to the text, When Fix told Mathu to
take the bottle back in the store again, and Mathu did not, Fix hit him and the fight was on (Gaines30).
Mathu gained his respect, because he refused to be mistreated by anyone. According to the book, To
Mapes, Mathu was a real man (Gaines84). Mapes thought this because Mathu was not like the other
African Americans he knew due to Mathu actually defending himself. Even though Mathu stoop up
for himself, he wanted for the other African Americans to do the same. Mathu

The Clanton Gang Essay
In the middle and late part of the nineteenth century, the West was a harsh and dangerous place to live.
Bar fights and murders were being committed in every town. This was acceptable behavior however in
those days. Men settled their problems face to face, and normally, the slower man ended up dead.
Gunfighting in the West was started and carried on by a group of men known as the Clanton Gang.
Old Man Clanton was the leader and founder of gunfighting, his sons carried some of his fights and
continued with their own fights, and his last surviving son parted with gunfighting and started his own
successful business.
Gunfights were common and took place regularly. The earliest gunfighters, or ... Show more content

Corral gunfight, was when Billy was caught riding Wyatt s stolen horse. Ike Clanton, born in 1847,
was also involved in the O.K. Corral shootout. Ike s involvement in the shootout started when Doc
Holliday offered him $6000 in reward money to help find, or kill, the men involved in the stage coach
murders , and he declined. Then when Doc was accused of murder in Tombstone, Ike openly
expressed his thoughts when Doc was found innocent. All these events led up to the famous gunfight.
The date was October 26, 1881, 2:30 p.m., and the setting was a vacant lot officially known as lot
number two, block 17, in Tombstone, Arizona (internet, #5). Nineteen year old Billy Clanton, thirty
four year old Ike Clanton, and Tom and Frank McLaury face Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan Earp, along
with Doc Holliday. The O.K. Corral Gunfight last 30 seconds, Frank McLaury was dead from a bullet
wound to the stomach fired from Wyatt s gun, Tom McLaury was dead from Doc Holliday s shotgun,
and Billy Clanton was dying from chest wounds (internet, #6). Ike Clanton escaped by running into
Fly s Photo Studio nearby. Billy was rushed into a nearby house screaming in pain. Dr. N. S.
Gibberson shot Billy full of morphine to ease the pain. As crowds gathered around Billy s bed, his last
words were documented, Drive the crowd away (internet, #4). Jonas V. Brighton murdered Ike
Clanton six years later on June 1, 1887 near Springerville,

Fiscal policy is much more effective at promoting economic growth than monetary policy. This is because if using monetary policy to reduce the cost of money has no effect on the exchange rate, it does nothing to stimulate exports and discourages imports. Effectiveness of the Monetary Policy Monetary policy is a more effective tool for economic stimulus than fiscal policy under a floating exchange rate system, in other words a system in which the currencies of trading countries can increase or decrease in value. For example attempts to stimulate economic growth by reducing the cost of money (cutting interest rates), the resulting effects on the exchange rate reducing it against other currencies will stimulate exports while making imports more expensive. This adds impetus to the intended economic stimulus. Responsible Institutions A combination of fiscal and monetary policy is generally used to steer the economy in a desired direction. Although governments direct fiscal policy, many countries delegate responsibility for monetary policy to central banks. This strategy prevents governments from manipulating interest rates for short term political advantage and promotes stability in the money supply as well as in the price of goods. • 3. The Great Principles Of The American Revolution The creation of the American nation became what it is today from years of struggle in which the common people, as well as the Founding Fathers, played a vital part for independence. The promise of the Revolution, a nation based on the republican ideals of liberty, independence, and equality, was to some extent achieved. Yet the great principles of the Revolution have long shaped our thoughts of what it means to be an American. All the events leading up and after the American Revolution will have effects on the common people. The story of George Robert Twelves Hewes helps historians comprehend the part that the common people played in their struggle for freedom and republican ideals they wanted to achieve for the generations to come in the new nation. The common people were important because if they didn t join John Hancock, Samuel Adams, and other wealthy leaders then the American Revolution would have never taken place. The common people made up the bulk of the Continental Army, without convincing the bulk of those people, they would have stayed loyal the King George III. The common people in the colonial era of the United States were made mostly up of people that worked in trade areas such as shoemakers, smiths, carpenters, and other trades within that time. Most of them were poor, especially if a colonist was in the shoemaking trade. John Adams, said that shoemaking was, too mean and diminutive an occupation, to hold a client of his who wanted to rise in the world. 1 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of All Quiet On The Western Front By Erich Maria... World War I was a global war that originated in Europe and lasted from July 1914 to November 1918. Two writers that described their feelings during the war were Erich Maria Remarque, who wrote All Quiet on the Western Front, and Edward Thomas, who wrote This is no case of petty right or wrong . While Thomas uses metaphors and an aggravated tone to reveal why patriotism is more beneficial than nationalism in his poem, Remarque more effectively presents this theme through his more extensive use of specific metaphors, accusatory word choice, and emotional tone in his novel. As an example, Remarque is superior in the metaphors that he uses to describe the war and its negative impacts, thus making a more effective argument for patriotism and against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Thomas uses We love ourselves as we hate her foe (Thomas 26). Thomas does not hate other countries more than he loves England. This shows the distinction between his view and nationalism, where Thomas would hate other countries more than he loves his. Thus, the reason why he wants to protect England is so that he can protect his own freedom. Remarque, on the other hand, has much stronger tone and word choice, which makes it more clear that Remarque is patriotic while also differentiating himself from the nationalist point of view. We loved our country as much as they; we went courageously into every action; but also we distinguished the false from the true, we had suddenly learned to see (Remarque 26). Here, courageously is referencing the fact that many of the soldiers were patriotic indeed, but the nationalist propaganda that authority was feeding them was fake. Thus, the soldiers are now able to see the amount of destruction that the nationalism had caused. Therefore, unlike Thomas, Remarque is able to add more depth about how others felt during the war to his arguments. Another quote Remarque uses shows how he can vary his tone to outline the innocence of the soldiers patriotism. It s queer, when one thinks about it, goes on Kropp, we are here to protect our fatherland. And the French are over there to protect their fatherland. Now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another element from the conversation that makes sense to me, and I will be more conscious of in the future, is the explanation of how our clients not reaching their goals, or not being able to achieve a certain task, as an opportunity to explore why not and to give them more positive reinforcements rather than to count not accomplishing tasks as failures against them (Quartz, March 7, 2016). Another element that I will use in future practice, that I was aware of in another context, is part of the relationship building process of supporting the client coming to terms with their history, the present situation, and their future. We discussed using timeframes to help clients with this process, which is something I had not thought of to use in the context of this course but it makes sense and I will use it in the future. In policy analyse and political science, this method is used in understanding policies, the history of wars, revolutions, and social movements so of course it makes sense to apply it to clients with tumultuous histories to help them understand where their current challenges stem from and to support their moving forward I can see the process of healing and moving forward as somewhat of a personal revolution. Using our skills, my group Katrina, Brandon, Michelle, and I created an interesting catapult which would thrust a ping pong ball across creating an upside down U shape, also known as a parabola. During our time as a group, we learned to create our own equation, create a graph and table, but also learn from our mistakes by trying to make the ping pong s journey consistent. Not only this, but we worked together as a team to get this task done. Before even beginning to measure the ping pong ball s journey , we had to create our own catapult. Using materials provided by Ms. Csigi, such as popsicle sticks, hot glue, rubber bands, and a spoon, we created the our own, unique catapult. First off, we created a square with four popsicle overlapping each other. Then we created another square and connected the two by the edge, with one side upwards. Then we got a spoon and glued it on another popsicle stick. Because the spoon needed to be at an angle, we hot glued the bottom facing the bottom of the square. Moving on, we actually found our standard form equation (using the calculator) before our vertex form so we actually used this to our advantage. • 7. Court Trial Essay The criminal trials I attended at the Boone County Courthouse where very interesting because it was not the first time ever being in a courthouse and courtroom. I have seen some courtrooms through videos of trials or pictures from high profile cases such as the shooter in Colorado who opened fire in a movie theater during Batman in 2012 and I have been to a small courthouse in Calvert County Maryland. The difference between these two courtrooms was the size and number of people present. At the Boone County Courthouse the room was small and had a large amount of people ready to see the Judge. This sentencing was in response to the multiple times this gentleman was charged with the same crime. The difference between the Bonne County court and the Calvert County court is the size and how quickly cases where moved through the system. In the Calvert County courtroom I sat and watched the cases where processed slow and meticulous even the requests for a change of date moved slowly. While in attendance in Calvert County I heard the judge ask how defendants mothers or families where and even postpone court dates or sentencing so farmers could bring crops in or so people could attend family functions. Even the sentencing was odd back home people could get sentenced to just weekends or even just nights in jail I heard one sentence where someone had to spend every weekend in jail for the next year, which I thought was strange but the judge said after the sentence that it was to keep the farms working. In Boone County the courtroom seemed more formal and less personal than a small town. The judge only cared for the rule of law and not about family matters or the occupation of the defendant and this is the way a judge should act in my opinion. The personal approach that judges take in Calvert County compared to Boone County is more influential than an impersonal approach because people do not want to be seen as just a number. Is the cart s velocity related to the force you apply? Or does the force just change the velocity? Also, what does the mass of the cart have to do with how the motion changes? We know that it takes a much harder push to get a heavy cart moving than a lighter one. A Force Sensor and an Accelerometer will let you measure the force on a cart simultaneously with the cart s acceleration. The total mass of the cart is easy to vary by adding masses. Due to this fault the German regime was deteriorating as they could not fend of their competitors. However these viewpoints are weak and are simply not logical. Amanita phalloides is one of the most poisonous of all known toadstools and it is estimated that only half a mushroom contains enough toxin to kill an adult person. It has proved that possibly the deaths of Roman Emperor Claudius in AD 54 and Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI in 1740 is caused by it. The principal toxic constituent is α amanitin, a highly stable protein that the body has great difficulty in completely eliminating, which damages the liver and kidneys, causing hepatic and renal failure that can be fatal. Each cult image of the local god was placed in the city s largest and most sophisticated sanctuary. For instance, the cult image of Marduk Babylon s city deity resided in the Esagila temple. Mesopotamians believed the shrine of the Esagila temple was the heart of the universe. According to the inscriptions in the Steinplatten, the cult statue, the walls and the ceilings of the sanctuary were plated in gold. In practice of the daily ritual, the servants or priests of the temple cleansed and dressed the cult statue in new clothes. Since the priests directly served the patron city god, they were respected by common people. Additionally, the inscriptions from king Neriglissar s cylinder revealed that he was submissive to the gods and thus the king s power was shared to the priests and the local government. The reason why non Indian characters from the subcontinent, i.e. the Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Afghans or Sri Lankans are not being considered in this discussion is that the socio cultural gap between India and her neighbouring countries are relatively less and how they are portrayed in Bollywood films demands a new discussion altogether due to extremely convoluted bilateral or multilateral political, social and historical relationships between India and any of these countries. Advertising Effects of Over the Counter and Prescription drug on Consumer Purchasing Habits By Celise Blackman Mass Communications Research Professor Roman Introduction This study looks at how prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) are advertised and how that potentially effects buying habits of consumers. There have been studies on this in the past but researchers failed to consider important factors such as age, exposure to advertising, health conditions of their audience. Results of this study could allow advertisers to consider our findings when producing advertisements. Consumers who see this study may also choose to do their own research on the Rx or OTC they consider purchasing. Also, medical professionals that have the authority to write Rx for their patients would be better informed of how the advertisements are perceived, causing them to present these drugs more or less. Now, this could negatively affect the pharmaceutical drug industry financially if doctors stop using their advertisements. However, that is not our goal in this study, just mearly a side effect. Literary Review Studies have shown that advertisements for prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) can be perceived differently depending on the audience. Some people believe surveillance is a breach of their own privacy rules. The purpose of surveillance is to influence, manage and protect societies through monitoring people s behaviors and movements. Crowdsourcing was coined by Jeff Howe as when a company takes a job which was once performed by employees and outsources it in the form of an open call to a large undefined group of people generally using the Internet (Brabham 18). This new application has dramatically changed the way citizens use the Internet, from becoming a place where you could not only store information but where people could retrieve and collaborate some of their own content as well as other people s information in the context of a virtual space. Siddhartha shares many teachings he has learned with Govinda. Siddhartha holds up a stone in example, showing that one thing is enfolded in the past, present, and future. He also stated that language is only a device, and that wisdom is not communicable. This means that, through experience, wisdom is attainable, but if you trying to teach enlightenment, the meaning will not be fully appreciated to whom it is taught. We also learn that not only Samana has left its mark on Siddhartha, but that also his brief contact with Buddha left its mark also. The Buddhist doctrine shows two opposites are Samsara and Nirvana. All truth has these two opposites, the truth side and the illusion side. When Gotama admits he has still not found peace, he suddenly has an inexpressible experience much like Siddhartha had when he met Vasudeva years before.
