The Black-Latino Alliance During the Obama Administration...
In 2008, African American presidential nominee Barack Obama garnered 67% of the Latino vote. In
his bid for re election, President Barack Obama acquired 71% of the Latino vote (Pew Research
Center). With these statistics in mind, one can conclude that there has been a consistent growing
pattern of continued co operation between blacks and Latinos at the national level. This is in complete
contrast however, to the mindset of some observers who believed that Latinos would not come out in
the numbers they did because of racial bias and because of the fact that Obama received much less
support amongst Latinos in the democratic primaries when faced against Hilary Clinton (Hero Preuhs,
p.3). Many people mistakenly thought this to be so because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is due to several reasons. The first and most important reason is that both these groups have
shared the American experience as minorities in quite the same fashion. For example, blacks and
Latinos both faced internal colonialism. This is why they have till this day been subordinate to the
white race. As Cesar Chavez once said, our separate struggles are really one. A struggle for freedom,
for dignity, and for humanity (Chavez, quoted in Hero Preuhs, p.10). For example, as mentioned in the
introduction, both blacks and Latinos have higher unemployment rates than whites. Both groups are
two to three times more likely to live in poverty as whites. And finally, black and Latino students are
more likely to drop out of high school and less likely to score well on standardized tests than white
non Hispanic students (Hero Preuhs, p.10). And so this is the primary reason as to why both blacks
and Latinos support the same policy agenda which in turn has led to the formation of coalitions
between blacks and Latinos. For example, the Rainbow coalition (led by high profile leaders such as
Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez) became a common term for multiracial coalitions in
American Politics which advocated health, social, political, and economic policy benefits to alleviate
the disadvantages shared by both groups (Hero Preuhs). Some examples of landmark policies that are
important to that of blacks and Latinos

Not A Witch, By The Sound Of A Grievous Witch
I was convinced that she was truly not a witch, by the sound of a grievous witch I had trust in her, I
am weak for sure that I had a childish behaviour that concluded my fate, but how would I know They
knew her for what she was, as evil they called her. I lived next door to her, I would watch her upon
nights and day in my window, brushing her silk hair as if it needed brushing, she seemed so lost, she
seemed indelicate, but I never knew her, It was impossible to say she is a witch, with long hair and
indifferent eyes, they seemed brown, but they had mystery in them, her face pale enough to call them
dry snow as if she wasn t even living, trapped . she lived in the north side and her house was painted
in a very curious dark blue, there seemed to be no plain living thing, her land contained not a strand of
green grass growing, usually I wondered when I reached my door and seem rather odd to me, but was
I curious enough, not at all I had heard stories about her, she seduced men and they never came out of
the house every again. I felt it was a mere story, no one understood it may be a rather a myth, never
real. I made up my mind, my weak heart won so I decided to refine the women, the Grievous witch a
regarding chance. Certainly, I fell for the woman beauty, even when I knew, she had a loving eye
darkened by the hue, it was intimidating, but rather warm and sad, you would think I am a stupid man,
which I agree, I frequently said hello she would smile and not say,

The mysterious and powerful Khmer Empire was evolved by...
The mysterious and powerful Khmer Empire was evolved by more than a strict and enforced political
system. Kings such as Jayavarman II who established an empire that would stand for over six
centuries, did so with religious power and privilege. This allowed rulers rise above fellow kingdoms to
control their states. With a large, dedicated and mobilised military along with the strategic position of
Angkor in a secluded and shielded area further developed the area of Angkor the Khmer Empire.
Along with many civilisations, religion was a crucial component to the advancing of the Khmer
Empire. The founding king Jayavarman II developed the social structure based on the Indian caste
system. This allowed him to be referred to as a god king or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There were many disputes between Angkor and its neighbouring states, such as the kingdom of
Champa to the east. The purpose of raiding fellow cities was not to dispute fear or warning, but purely
to expand the empire. The kings after Jayavarman II followed the path of their predecessor and
engaged in territorial wars. They invaded rival kingdoms and took control. One ruler, Suryavarman I
directed his military to the west and expanded the empire to Ayutthaya (Thailand and Laos). The
efforts of Jayavarman II and his successors to invade neighbouring kingdoms and seize control
allowed the empire to expand and rise successfully to power above the entire Khmer region.
During the beginning of its formation, the empire relied largely on the isolated and protected area it
resided in to build and develop the empire further. It was situated in the North of Tolne Sap Lake, in
an area later known as Angkor. Its location was strategically chosen, therefore would serve as the seat
of the Khmer Empire. It was surrounded by thick forests that provided protection, with no developed
roads or paths that led into Angkor.
These jungles and other natural barriers also protected Angkor from being easily accessible to its
enemies. The empire is circumscribed with land, sandstone hills, and is remote from the South China
Sea...
The entrance large enough to invade the civilisation was the Mekong River. It could carry an army
into Angkor, however the military population of

My Favorite Memories Of Reading
Don t be concerned, but my mom is suffering from tsundoku. Tsundoku is a Japanese word used to
describe the stock piling of books that you will never read. As long as I can remember my mom has
been bringing home heaps of books from anywhere she can get them. Last year, she came home from
the local library book sale with six bags of books. Yes, she loves to read, but she has not read any of
those books in the past year. Waiting to be shelved, most of them continue to sit on our basement floor,
collecting dust. This habit of my moms annoys me; nevertheless, I am very thankful she loves to read
and has passed on a portion of that love to me. Books play a major part in my life from memories of
being read to when I was little, reading books I hated in school, and falling in love with the characters
of a breathtaking novel. The importance of reading in my life goes all the way back to my childhood.
In fact, one of my favorite memories of reading, comes from my childhood. My sister and I loved the
book Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr.Seuss; more than that, we loved the funny voice our dad would use
when he read it. We would beg him every night to read us that book, and he always did. It was not
until years later I realized that he was not as fond of the book as we were. To this day I believe that my
love of reading came from those positive experiences as a child, and believe that every parent should
take the time to read to their children. As National Education Association employee,

Persuasive Essay On Rap Music
Many believe that rap music has taken a complete 180 in the industry and has turned their lyrics of
inspiration and positivity, to drugs and gang violence. Although several signs can point to this
statement being true, rap music does not encourage teens to act violently. In fact, many artists/rappers
spread positive messages across, giving solutions, and inspiration to the audience.
Parents were and still are on the fence of their kids listening to rap music. The explicit types of rap
music are poisoning the minds of young teens and can even encourage them to act in the a violent
manner or rebel. Although, that is for explicit lyrics, not all rap has explicit lyrics. Altogether, rap
music does not encourage teen violence in any way and many individual artists even teach their
audience how to act positively. Teenagers seem to click easier to song lyrics, whether it s country, rap,
rock, or pop. It can affect teenagers in a positive and negative way, but violence being said in the
lyrics does not cause an indication of aggression for the listener. The lyrics may describe their
situation perfectly, what they go through and how they feel. That s why we always have those catchy
radio tunes stuck in our heads. Alison Churchill, a fan of rapper Eminem from Newsday feed shares
her input on what it can do to younger peers. But she thinks the song could have a positive impact, if it
can hit a nerve with a teenager and prompt them to go talk to someone about it. Because, Churchill
says, The more we talk about a subject, the easier it is to fix. If teens don t usually have anyone to talk
to, it can cause an empty feeling of loneliness that can turn into urges of depression, anxiety, mental
health issues. When rap music hits home for the younger generation it s telling them to open up to
somebody and share what you have to say. Talking about something that is bothersome can be a great
solution for those who need or want it.
Rap music was creating a negative influence throughout the music industry for awhile, it s agreeable
that modern day rap today mostly involves drugs, gangs, violence, money, etc. Although, a lot of it
also gives inspiration or at least has that goal being set when creating the music. Most

Batman Hero Essay
Batman is a well known superhero of all time, due to his comics, Tv shows, movies and video games.
The reason he is so unique is because he is human, he has no superpowers or special abilities. Batman
is an ordinary man who does superhuman actions with his ability to outsmart his enemies. What
makes him stand out, even more, is Batman s ability to know the difference between justice and
revenge. He brings justice to his city by fighting crime at night and leaving the criminals for the cops,
he does not kill them. Batman is proof you don t need superpowers to be a superhero... (DC Comics)

As a child, he watched his parents get killed right in front of him. From that moment on, an oath of
vengeance against crime was taken so that no one would have to suffer the same pain he did. At the
age of fourteen, the young hero embarked on a journey, with the help of Dr. Thompkins and Alfred
Pennyworth, that allowed him to gain the skills he needed to overcome anyone who opposed him. Dr.
Thompkins was a close friend of Batman s family, she confronted the young hero the night his parents
were killed. Since then, a strong relationship was built between her and Batman, Dr. Thompkins also
being one of the few who knows the Bats true identity. From that night on she became a parent figure
to him. (Lam) Alfred Pennyworth has been with Batman since his childhood. He was the butler of
their family and since the night his parents were murdered, Alfred took responsibility for raising the
hero of Gotham City. He attempted to raise the future hero into a business man so he could take after
his father s company but, the young Bat took up a different lifestyle into fighting crime and protecting
his beloved city. (DC Comics) Years were spent, away from Gotham, on learning many forms of

While it lessens the burden on organizations, reducing and shifting the cost and risk of its IT

The theft or sharing of information could be intentional or unintentional. In any of these case, even if
the outsourcing service provider keeps the outsourced information available, unchanged and
accessible to the owners at all times, there are still risks of possible data confidentiality issues.
The use of an enterprise service provider for processing information systems applications such as
payroll, human resources, or sales order taking is another excellent way for organizations to minimize
cost while still experience the full benefit of an IT system. It is worth noting that while this is very
cost effective and significantly reduces the load on an organization, outsourcing an organization s IT
applications to an enterprise service provider for processing is a risky path to thread. Information
privacy and integrity are at a very great risk here. An enterprise service provider or employers of the
provider are capable of selling out the customers, employees and sales information of one organization
to another. Employees of the Service providers could also include their name (create false employees)
among the names of legitimate employees of the outsourced organization and masquerade as one of
the real employees and receive pay every pay period. These and other privacy and integrity concern
must be taken into serious consideration by organization outsourcing interested in outsourcing to an

Miss Wayland Teenage Usa
My Journey as Miss Wayland Teen USA It all started on a sunny summer day. I was scrolling through
Facebook, an ad popped up and it said, Are you the next Miss Michigan Teen USA? I clicked on it,

picture. I sent mine in. I told them that I volunteer at a non profit organization called Caleb s Closet in

Essay about Women and Buddhism
Women and Buddhism
As a religion, Buddhism has a great impact on women, especially Asian women. Theravadan
Buddhism, which is the early stage of Buddhism, depreciates women by a theory called Five Blocks .
However, Buddhism started to affect women in a positive way when Buddha raised several doctrines
and explained the theory in a more proper way.
The Five Blocks theory can be summarized as women can t achieve enlightenment because women
are weak, jealous, annoying, desiring and having more affairs in the world. This theory makes women
inferior to men for a long time. Accordingly women are seen as a weaker sex, cannot make a decision
on their own, and they are dependent beings. As commodity, they must be taken care of by their ...

Chinese women formed their own Bhikkhuni group, only for and controlled by women. Emperor
Wuzetian even made use of Buddhism to help her being the first and only female emperor in Chinese
history. (Lin, 1193)
The change in Buddhism significantly helps women: women are no longer appendants, burden of
family or bearing tools; women have more freedom than before; women start to have their own power
and right. However, rather than saying Buddhism recognized women, I would prefer to say Buddhism
recognized Equality . Buddha considers everything in the world are equal, then men and women are
equal; Buddha considers men and women have the equal responsibility in the family, then women act
as wife more than bearing tools; Buddha considers men and women are equally useful to society, then
women can have more right and power than before. Buddha gave women an opportunity to change
their life; women themselves grasped the chance and finally get the respect they deserved.

The Role Of Religion And Sociological Perspective
The Role of Religion in Sociological Perspective Religion is a system of beliefs that many of us may
not understand in detail. However, the intention of this paper is to describe the role of religion in my
personal life, and to briefly explain the functionalist perspective, the symbolic interactionism
perspective, types of religious groups, and religion in the United States with the sole purpose to
understand religion concepts in a sociological perspective and my personal point of view. The role of
religion in my life does not exist, as I am not a religious person. I believe that it is not necessary to
follow a particular religion/denomination to practice morality and ethics during our life on earth. I do
apply, however (with my own interpretations) the wisdom of the Bible to my life, especially the Ten
Commandments. I do believe in one God and I do believe that human s purpose in life is to take care
of God s creation, to follow God s words, and to love and accept others no matter what background,
religion, status, race, or culture. I find the world and everything in it to work to perfection for me to
believe that we were created by mere coincidence and evolution (concepts that Atheist s faith may be
based on). Therefore, if I have to relate my worldview to a certain denomination, I would accept that
my views are closely related to Theism, which is the belief in the existence of one perfect, divine
being. In order to understand the concepts

Hate Crime In America
Hate crime has been an ongoing issue in America. The Federal Bureau of Investigation report released
in 2014 recorded 5928 hate crimes and 7242 victims. Hatred and antagonism are not new to American
society; it s only getting worse and more ingrained gradually. It is striking to know that the
communities America has alienated, such as African Americans and women, have always been
integral elements in its society. To better comprehend victimization, the subsequent aspects will be
analyzed: ethnicity and religion.

This is the most reliable and precise information available to analyze victim types (The United States

Conclusion
Victimization is a consequence of the weak terrorizing the weaker. Individuals that commit acts of
discrimination, bias or other kinds of isolated mischief bear some form of deficiency. It has been
explained that victims can originate from crime attributed with society, families and peers. They can
usually be identified from the Victimology theory profile. Surroundings, environment and opportunity
are only some of many components that provoke people to victimize others. September 11, 2001 was a
black day that America will not easily forget; however, it certainly not licenses Americans to abuse
Arab Americans.
By categorizing them terrorists as a whole, Americans have abandoned their rationale and civility. The
killing or torture of Arab Americans will not undo the loss suffered on 9/11. It is important to identify
the enemy and not to hold the innocent responsible for misdeeds of

I Got Like Sewing Needles
It was noon when I woke up. I woke up to honking, drumming, screaming, and clean air. Everything
was all blurry, and I saw enormous structures that looked like sewing needles. I pinched my arm,
hoping this was all a dream. To my surprise, it was not. At this point, I saw more clearly. And I saw
buildings alright; a great deal in fact! There was one huge building that was shaped like a pair of
rocket boots, and the rest of the buildings were scattered all across the area. The area was quite large,
almost the size of Manhattan, and the shape was quite like it as well. Oh how I love Manhattan. It s so

deep into the street. As I stood, a drop of filthy water from one of the street lights fell down my back,
and a tingle and a shiver went down my spine. I also saw dusty ground, and an old house, and it
looked awfully similar to mine. Immediately, I hid behind one of the walls as I saw the door move.
The door opened, and I saw the person who came out. At first, I was unable to place the person. I
knew I had seen them before. But where? Slowly, as realization dawned upon me, I came to a startling
conclusion. The person was me. At first, I didn t really recognize myself. I looked so beautiful, so
flawless, so care free. I looked as if I had it all; all of the worlds riches, and all the worlds solutions

Stereotypes In A Seat In The Garden By Thomas King
Stereotypes come about from ignorance, stupidity, and insensitivity. Two characters, Joe and Red are
so unbelievably racist that they hallucinate a Big Indian and try to get rid of him. Therefore, they
prove themselves to be racist by believing preconceptions without any other information about the
group of minority. Stereotypes are always going to be around, especially if two people like Joe and
Red think they can get away with their behaviour. People will be continuing to take a step backwards
if the false information about a culture is going to affect their judgement. In the short story, A Seat In
The Garden, Thomas King attests to the fact that Joe and Red are held hostage by their own prejudices
and stereotypes of Indigenous people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right away he connects the Big Indian to a movie he had recently seen. This proves that the media has
a major role in creating and carrying out stereotypes. Even the description given about the big Indian,
was naked to the waist. His hair was braided and wrapped with white ermine and strips of red cloth.
He wore a single feather held in place by a leather band stretched around his head (King 284), shows
to be true what a typically First Nation looks like in movies. The media definitely emphasizes
stereotypes especially on groups of minorities. Red clearly is not the smartest so of course he will give

The Federal Reserve ( Fed )
The Federal Reserve (FED), is the central bank of the United States. It was created by Congress to
provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system
(Federalreserve.org, 2016). The monetary policy of the US is governed by the FED, which assist in
regulating the supply and demand of money in the market. Interest rates are a very important tool of
monetary policy that economists use to achieve the targets defined for the country s monetary policy.
Interest rates have a profound impact on the value of the country s currency, inflation, export
competiveness and imports into the country. Interest rates also impact the inflow and outflow of funds
into or out of the country. Due to their wide reaching impact on the economy, if the Fed decides to
raise the interest rates at the end of this year it will definitely impact several aspects such as consumer
financing, annuities values, the NPV calculation, the WACC and corporate earnings.
Effect of rising rates on the following:
Consumer financing for big ticket items such as autos and homes
Rates on mortgages and other types of loans have been fairly low, creating more access to capital for
businesses and making big ticket purchases more affordable for consumers. If the FED raises the
interest rate it will have several effects on the consumer. It will reduce their purchasing power and
consumers shopping habits will be influenced. The decrease in purchasing power leads to a decrease

The Bottle Bill
Introduction In the 2014 gubernational election, the second ballot question received plenty of
publicity. The bottle bill was up for a referendum, the question was based upon the expansion of the
bottle bill. The expansion involved the addition of several different vocabulary terms that were not
incorporated in the original bottle bill and adding several clauses to expand the effect of the bill. The
opposition believed that expanding the bottle bill is not the solution to the lacking recycling resources
available in the Commonwealth. The group for the expansion focused its campaign on the projected
impact this would have on littering and the economic benefit. I think both campaigns failed to include
recycling in the restaurant industry. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also gained support from the Boston Globe and government officials such as Deval Patrick.
Original Bottle Bill vs Expansion
The original bottle bill was passed in 1981, after being vetoed by Governor Ed King. Three years after
the bottle bill passed, Massachusetts had recycled thirty five billion containers ( ). MassPrig led a
coalition to gain legislature support to ensure the passing of the bottle bill. The bottle bill was created
into three sections, Chapter 94 Section 321, Chapter 94 Section 322, and Chapter 94 Section 323.
Section 321 laid out the definitions for the legal terms used to create the concepts in the two sections
that follow. Section 322 states the bottle deposit amount and what it covers. Section 323 and it s sub
sections outlined the provisions for the distributors to follow when selling plastic containers, the
appropriate way to accept recyclable items from a consumer, and what the state would do with
business that are below their quota ( ). In 2003, Mitt Romney led an effort to utilize forfeited nickel
deposits as a supplement to the state s general fund instead of the environmental funded created under
the original bottle bill. The proposed bottle bill expansion wanted to expand the definition of
beverage. The new definition would include non carbonated and non alcoholic beverages intended for
human consumption. They also wanted to add the definition of a redemption center and a smaller to

Essay about al capone
Organized crime was not so organized up until the 1920s. When the 1920s arrived, the American
lifestyle changed dramatically. People started investing money in home appliances and automobiles,
women s skirts became higher and drinking became very popular. Also, organized crime came to a rise
in the 1920 s. And in the high ranks of organized crime was Al Capone. Al Capone ran many illegal
businesses including bootlegging, gambling, prostitution, and murders. There were many gangs in the
world of organized crime and Al Capone s was at the top. Al Capone was the most infamous gangster

In New York, Arnold Rothstein was the man. He was a bootlegger, he also sold narcotics, and he
started off many big names in crime such as Charles Lucky Luciano, Frank Costello and Dutch Shultz.
Rothstein made friends with as many bootleggers and gamblers as he could. He never wanted
anything to go wrong. He was sort of paranoid but Rothstein was a very powerful man. The most
incredible act ever made by a thug just may have been the fixing of the 1919 World Series between the
Reds and the White Sox. Many of the White Sox star players wanted higher wages, owners of the club
refused. But Rothstien changed that. It was said that he paid off eight of the White Sox players 10,000
dollars each. The Red s would have lost but with a little help from Rothstein the White Sox did lose
and Rothstein got back all of his money winning bets.
Charles Lucky Luciano was another one of the most successful gangsters during the 1920s. His place
of crime was New York. Luciano started under a man named Maranzano as Capone started under
Johnny Torrio. Luciano was one of Maranzano s top men. After being under him, Charles Luciano

The novel In Dubious Battle explores the journey of two Labor party members, Mac and Jim, and
their attempt to fuel an organized strike at a California apple orchard. Steinbeck was not successful
with maintaining objectivity while writing the story, the novel seemed to be a pro labor one. To begin,
the novel seems entirely fairly sympathetic for the case Jim, the one who was at the forefront of it all.
Steinbeck highlights his character and humanity. He s not made to be necessarily perfect, however his

Computer Hardware
It seems that in today s world nothing can be done without a computer, but upon a closer look, you
will find that it is the hardware components and input and output devices that make a computer useful.
What is it that determines the speed at which a computer can find a file? How do you get a report from
your PC to the members of your next Board meeting? It is the hardware that is used with your
computer that allows you to accomplish all of your business needs using your computer. Data input is
the collection of raw data that is used to find needed information. Data input is an important part of

Below are some components that contribute to the speed, and the way in which they affect it;
RAM RAM affects the speed of the computer because of its size. The more RAM you have the more
data that can be stored and quickly accessed by the CPU.
Clock speed The clock speed is important because it determines the speed at which the CPU can send
instructions.
Data on hard disk Data on a hard disk is direct access storage and can be accesses in seconds.
Data on CD ROM CD ROM s are also direct access storage but are not as fast due to limitation in read
speed of the CD ROM drive.
Data on floppy disk Only small amounts of data can be stored on a floppy disk, and because it is
sequential storage, it is slower that other media types. As you can see, if a computer was just a
computer it wouldn t be of much use to us. Thankfully, there have been many different inventions that
have made the computer the most useful tool for just about any application. Through storage of input
data and the output of information, computers have made companies more organized, more efficient,
more successful, and more profitable. References

me to take the stance on not classifying the people of Okonkwo s society as primitive. The first
chapter of the book focuses on Unoka, Okonkwo s father; he was seen as a lazy and wasteful man to

Anglicans base their faith on the Bible, traditions of the apostolic the concept of apostolic succession,

Factors That Empower And Constrain Mncs Essay
The mounting standing of multinational corporations (MNCs) in today s global economy has held
some interest from international organizations, national government agencies and local citizens (Yang
Huang 2011: 3). MNCs have risen to prominence through mergers, procurement and setting up new
enterprises, and they have operated businesses throughout the world (Yang Huang 2011: 3). They
mobilize resources, develop vertical and horizontal production networks and penetrate all kinds of
markets across borders (Yang Huang 2011: 3). These acts have changed the operations of a national
economy as well as the relationships among them (Yang Huang 2011: 3). In this essay, I will seek to
evaluate the factors that empower and constrain MNCs, and thus forge and communicate the
understanding of whether their structural power has been on the incline or on the decline.
To begin with, the research took the direction of understanding of what a multinational corporation is
defined as and its scope and advantage. Peter Dicken s (2008) chapter on Transnational Corporations:
The Primary Movers and Shapers of the Global Economy was insightful in understanding that a
transnational corporation is a firm that has the power to coordinate and control operations in more
than one country, even if it does not own them (Dicken 2008: 106). In Dicken s view, the transnational
corporation has grown into the perception of being the main shaper of the present day global economy
and a chief danger to the

In 2014 767,622 animals were used for medical research. Without these animals to test on we would
have had to test on other human beings. Who would you rather test on, a rat, or a loved one? Medical
animal testing is needed to keep moving forward in the medical fields and to keep our society strong.
The genetic similarities between humans and the laboratory animals implement positive results. Since
we are so genetically similar to chimpanzees and mice there are no other alternative options of testing
on living organisms other than human beings. Our brains are essentially analogous to the brains of
mice and chimpanzees. (Holmes) Humans share 99% of the same DNA as chimps and 98% of the

Most people that benefit from medical animal testing don t even know they do. (Wolff) A large

Essay on How to Avoid Plagiarism
How to Avoid Plagiarism
Plagiarism is a growing problem in universities (Matheson Starr 2013) and becoming too common in
the scientific world (Ober et al. 2012). Hence it is important for students as well as researchers to
know how to avoid plagiarism. Before discussing the ways to avoid plagiarism, this paper discusses
the definition, the types and reasons for plagiarism. Copying or borrowing someone else s words or
ideas may perhaps be the more inoffensive way of explaining plagiarism. However, these two terms
may deliver a connotation that plagiarism is not much of a serious offense. Whether the act of
plagiarising is intentional or unintentional, it is considered as a fraud. In an academic setting
plagiarism may even ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested by
Ober et al. (2012).
Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people s work,
books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation
marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in
which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly.
Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else s ideas into your own
words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is still
considered as copying . Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the ways to
avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original voice .
Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done
excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack of
writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper.
Rule 4: Don t recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers
without citing This is the case of self plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier publication
but fail to cite the original and obtain

Social Issues In Pride And Prejudice
Jane Austen s well known novel, Pride and Prejudice, discussed multiple social themes in the 19th
century. Austen mainly criticized marriage during her era, when she says that, it is a truth universally
acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife (Austen 3).
As she explains that it was valuable to women since it provided them with security and a social title.
The author explored the diverse motives behind matrimony in her time period by using a humorous
and romantic plot to discuss the social issues. For instance, Charlotte Lucas s unreasonable marriage
to Mr. Collins is a vital example of how women needed to secure a future and attain social status. To
conclude, Lydia Bennet s meaningless marriage to George Wickham shows that entering the marriage
estate could have also been for mainly financial purposes. Contrastingly, Jane Bennet, the heroine s
older sister, marries Charles Bingley for love, security, and a social ranking. On the other hand,
Elizabeth Bennet marries Fitzwilliam Darcy after months of misunderstandings and romantic drama
for none other than true love. Thus, Austen uses her leading characters marriages in Pride and

Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress Analysis
Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie is a novel about two boys, a narrator and Luo,
who are undergoing re education in the mountains amidst the cultural revolution in communist China.
Sijie showcases the harsh reality of re education, and how certain events change the way the two boys
think and behave. This passage focuses on the narrator, as he takes advantage of an opportunity to
inflict pain on the village headman while he is having a tooth removed. The transition from the
narrator s fear and discomfort at the beginning of the passage to outright vindictiveness by the end
reveals his resentment toward re education.
In lines 1 15, the narrator begins the operation, revealing the narrator s anxiety and discomfort. Sijie
used words like trepidation and brace to describe the narrator s feelings as the procedure began. This
anticipative diction highlights the apprehension the narrator feels, reinforcing how uncomfortable and
afraid he feels of the events to follow. The tension in the scene builds through the use of alliteration.
The movement of the drill is described as a relentless rhythm, emphasizing the narrator s lack of
control during his assignment. Additionally, to emphasize the perilous nature of the narrator s
situation, words like juddered, and trembled were used to describe the drill. The description mirrors
the narrator s apprehension from the beginning of the passage, showing that the drill is, in essence, an
extension of the narrator.

Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson Emily Dickinson is one of America s greatest poets, her work was original and
unique, and the speakers in her poem would often express what limitations they saw in their society
and how they wish they could escape it. Although Dickinson became a famous poet, she didn t want
her work published, during her lifetime other people would have some of her poems published. The
poems that were published were considered to be eccentric and were altered significantly by
publishers. Dickinson often wrote about the idea of being famous and how much she would dread it if
she ever did become famous because she felt that it wouldn t allow her to stay true to herself. Upon
her death thousands of poems were discovered by her family and were eventually published, these
poems are what cemented her legacy as one of the greatest poets to ever live. Emily Dickinson was
born in 1830 to a prominent family, her father was a well respected lawyer. Dickinson was well
educated, she had attended school from a very young age and also attended Amherst Academy, her
father wanted his children to be well educated and he reminded them to pay attention in school and
learn as much as possible. At age 15 Dickinson left the academy and began to attend Mount Holyoke
Female Seminary but after a year she left and went back home, nobody knows why she left but some
believe this was the beginning of her reclusiveness. From an early age Dickinson began to write and
some of her influences included her principal and a friend who was an attorney that worked with her
father. In addition, one day during a trip to Philadelphia she befriended a minister who also became a
great influence, she would correspond with him, often writing letter just like she would with everyone
else. Dickinson also experienced many deaths of friends that affected her profoundly and it caused her
to become depressed, sometimes expressing it in her writings. In addition, she would often express
herself in statements to others not being able to understand why those close to her were constantly
dying, she also expressed her depression, and she even wondered if she should die too, it is believe
that these tragedies are also the reason for her reclusiveness. Emily Dickinson

Distress Thermometer
Distress is an unpleasant emotional experience of a psychological, social and/or spiritual nature that
might interfere with the ability to cope effectively with cancer, its physical symptoms and the
treatment that occurs, before, during and/or after the diagnosis (NCCN, 2003). In the Psychosocial
aspect of cancer patients and their diagnosis, the distress thermometer is a tool that can help both the
patients and staff in beginning a conversation with each other about difficulty going on before or after
a cancer diagnosis. People who are at a higher risk of heightened distress, are people with subordinate
cancer diagnosis, in reoccurring cancer patients, in younger patients, and in married people.
There are many potential consequences that can occur when patients are not screened for distress.
Consequences are and not limited to poorer faithfulness to management advices, worse satisfaction

might be affecting the quality of life and needs to use the additional resources to assist them and if a
patient scores 8 10 the score indicates that the patient is suffering from high levels of distress and it
can become difficult for the person to make decisions and should be referred to rigorous treatment
immediately to heighten the quality of life. In my opinion, the cutoff score for distress should stay the
same for now until because psychosocial resources are so limited that it should only be presented to
people who are really in need for the help. The cutoff score should also stay the same until there is a
certain way to limit the number of false positives that

Diversity And Inclusion Analysis
My next article takes us into the concept of diversity and inclusion that involves reaching over
milestones we already made and prepare us for the next milestones to come. The tone in this reading is
that we have diversity under our belt, so lets now use what we learned from diversity to move forward
to inclusion. Inclusion in the workplace is explained as organizations incorporates the ideas,
understanding and perspectives of their diverse group of employees towards the betterment of the
employees and the organization. So we are now moving beyond race, sex and gender and into
everyone s human aspects. That is the thoughts, feeling and emotions within the diverse group.
Inclusion will have us look at things much differently than we did

Themes in the Cremation of Sam Mcgee
The Cremation of Sam McGee by Robert Service is an incredible example of a narrative ballad. It tells
it s story through internal and external rhyming couplets Now Sam McGee was from Tennessee,
where the cotton blooms and blows. Why he left his home in the South to roam round the Pole, God
only knows. (Service)
with a cadence which holds true through out the whole poem (Team, Shmoop Editorial). Service s
application of literary devices like alliteration enhances the flow of the poem; roam round, cursèd
cold, foul or fair, half hid, and brawn and brains (Service). The cold of the Arctic is a major theme and
Service uses an assortment of other literary devices to convey his message (Team, Shmoop Editorial).

One could see a person singing to a corpse but to have the corpse grin back is weird. Now to stuff a
corpse into a furnace of glowing coals and then to have the corpse came back to life and enjoy the
fiery abode is not something anyone would actually do or witness and thus it takes the reader to a
world of peculiar. A final theme to be introduced is that of friendship (Team, Shmoop Editorial). An
interesting alliance is between the humans and the dogs. The

The Eternal City And Her Empire
Michael Miller
Extended Essay
(Lack of title page)
Word count: 2594
Introduction
The Eternal City and her empire, spanning at its peak from chilly Britain to sweltering Egypt, did not
spring from glory (Nelson). Her legions were not born, trained, and blooded as professionals, or as the
legends that they came to be; nor were her architects and engineers blessed by providence with the
talent that has kept Rome standing for more than two thousand years. It indeed rings true when said or
heard that Rome was not carved out from her seven hills; not built; not fought for nor killed for in a
day. Her legacy was painstakingly written with the lives of millions, and the many victories of her
army were learned and prepared for through just as many losses.
It was not intrinsic ability that conquered all of the Mediterranean coast and lands beyond, but
cunning, the ability to adapt when beaten, to recognize superior tactics and to outwit them, to learn
from other cultures and militaries, and most importantly, to get back up off the ground when
conquered and hit back harder than ever before. The empire created by the sword, lived by the sword,
and died by the sword, wielded by one of the most dynamic and influential militaries in the history of
the world.
The research question of this extended essay is, To what extent did the Roman military adapt and
change as a product of warfare and contact with other cultures, from the tribal days of Rome to the
end of the Republic? Though her

Military Desertion Research Paper
Bryce Peterson
11/27/17
If Military hierarchies are not an effective form of ranking systems how have they been successfully
used for thousands of years? Although it is true that there is tension among the military, there are
several reasons that debunk all theories about justifying military desertion and treason. For thousands
of years all branches of any nations or empires Army were extensively trained for combat and
situations that may arise in that environment. To say a officer in the military would leave even under
command not to because they are under stress, is a very poor reason to break the law and millitarys
codes.

The Great Outdoors
O Is for the Great Outdoors
In my opinion, we can sort everyone alive into two categories: outdoor people, and indoor people. I
fall into the latter category; being a pale, unathletic girl, it is difficult to be anything else. However,
despite my genetic averseness to it, I love being outside, soaking in the beauty, and just enjoying God
s creation. There are countless ways to appreciate the great outdoors, even an AC lover like me can
find ways to love it.
One way I have learned to connect with nature is through photography. About a year and a half ago, I
discovered my affinity for photography, and I started seeing the way objects interacted and filled the
negative space. There is a certain satisfaction rewarded when I take a picture and every detail just falls
in line. Nature is art, a photogenic subject waiting to be studied. Be that as it may, taking pictures
outside is somewhat different than working, practicing, and being active outside. ... Show more

Practices take up about 8 hours weekly and, consequently, it is tough to avoid outdoor activity.
Currently, with the summer weather, outside practices are not so much a chance to admire scenery as
they are blistering hot and bug filled. During the next couple months, though, the weather will chill,
and I ll be able to relish the autumn breezes and the color change of the leaves. My band experience
has shown me that in some situations, a semi coerced experience can be as benefiting as an experience
you plan.
In my family, nature is a chosen bonding point. Our vacations do not occur annually, our schedule is
normally too occupied, but we do visit scenic sites every few years. This past summer, we stayed in
West Virginia for white water rafting. The trip was terrific, and captivated all of us with the vibrant
environs of the camp and the business of the rapids. Spending time outside in a place like that gave me
a greater appreciation of

How Did Queen Have Influence The Influence On Queen And...
Queen and Freddie Mercury s Importance and Influence on Artists
Queen is an iconic rock band from the 70 s whose influence transcends genres and continues to inspire
and affect artists to this day. There are three main reasons that Queen continues to be so influential and
well known, even decades after their peak has passed. The first and most obvious reason is Queen s
frontman, Freddie Mercury, and his amazing performances and extraordinary vocal range. The next
reason is Queen s accomplishments and the many awards they won during their time. The final reason
is their tendency to take risks, break the mold, and experiment. Many well known artists have been
influenced by Queen due to these reasons. The fact that people continue to be so ... Show more content

I also cited many reliable dictionaries such as Merriam Webster s Dictionary, Oxford Dictionaries, and
Cambridge Dictionaries to define different key terms that appear throughout the paper.
Queen s music is still a significant part of today s pop culture. Their music continues to be played on
the radio regularly and also still makes appearances in TV shows, commercials, and movies, with a
recent example being the soundtrack of the film Baby Driver (2017). Two more examples of Queen s
songs appearing in film are the use of the the song Bohemian Rhapsody in the 1992 film Wayne s
World, and the use of the song Don t Stop Me Now in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead. Don t Stop
Me Now has also recently made an appearance in commericals for the 2018 Toyota Camry. The fact
that Queen s music is still so popular to this day is a testament to their timelessness and their talent.
Most people have probably heard a Queen song at some point in their life, whether it was on the radio
or in a movie.
Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen until his untimely death in 1991, and he is what made
Queen so iconic. Mercury once said I won t be a rock star. I will be a legend. And he did exactly that.
Mercury is considered by many to be the greatest frontman of all time. He was admired

Assessment for Used Car Negotiation Simulation
Summary
My target for this negotiation was to get the car at $4,500, the low end of blue book value. $4,500
could be the net price, which means if seller can offer something else, such as maintenance service,
parts or accessories to offset some part of the cost, I can accept higher price. My BATNA is to deal
with other seller for similar used car. Eventually, I couldn t make any deal with seller during the
negotiation because he wanted to sell at $5,000 and his extra accessory offer is not worth $500. And I
found out that this car s timing belt has not been changed. It should have been replaced right after
100k mileages and it will cost about $600.

Considering the high mileage of the car, the timing belt should be replaced immediately and it cost
about $600. Seller was not willing to bear the cost. This made me have to think about my BATNA.
My BATNA is dealing with other similar car owners. That means I don t have to make commitment to
buy this car. So I think it was the time to end the negotiation in a polite way to keep the contact
because I may come back to talk to him if other offers are even worse. Finally we didn t make any
deal during this negotiation.
What worked for me?
Clearly sorting out the real needs in my mind and my budget limit is very helpful to figure out target
car model, price range, other considerations, alternative solutions, etc.
Making a right negotiation strategy based on Lewicki, Hiam, and Olander s analysis model. From
their model, I think I should deploy a competitive negotiation strategy in this case. This is a win lose
strategy. My purpose is to win at all cost. I should spend time to prepare the negotiation as much as
possible. I have no much concern about future state of relationship with seller.
Researching on line helped to know the market price, the maintenance options, the accessory value
and other choice for similar cars. That made me have BATNA because I know I can get similar car
from other source and I do not have to commit to buy at end the

Implementing A New Training Program
I have experienced the difficulties and challenges faced with the way this has been in the past. With
this new plan, it will completely eliminate the problems that have occurred from previous training
processes. The company can save themselves many resources implementing a new training program
with the phases: Goals and Objectives, Accessing Company Programs, Hands on workshop,
Group/Teamwork activity, Evaluation and Follow up. Figure 1 shows the schedule of each phase and
the days in which they should be carried out through the first week of training. Through the
implementation of this project no extra resources will need to be used except the time of managers and
other employees within the team. These are all miniscule factors in the beginning that will provide
tremendous dividends in the success of this employee for the future.
The goal of this new training program being implemented is to create a better transition and
immediate spark of productive output from new employees. These steps will guide these new
employees through a transition to becoming a veteran of the workplace. The benefits involved through
the implementation is just as much for the managers as the employees themselves. Managers will be
not be wasting time, resources, and money on lost work from new employees not knowing or
understanding what they are supposed to be doing. In fact, the change will more efficiently use up the
hours wasted when new employees are left with no work to do, create better

Individuality, Equality, And Sameness
Individuality, Equality, and Sameness
What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these two
notions? In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and
Harrison Bergeron , these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of
dystopias. These dystopias may not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be made
to exist. These stories contain elements that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction,
accommodate real life factors such as technology, life, and government. Bradbury s and Vonnegut s
stories convey the message that humanity needs to acknowledge its own need for individuality and be

The television program was suddenly interrupted for a news bulletin. It wasn t clear at first as to what
the bulletin was about, since the announcer, like all announcers, had a serious speech impediment...the
announcer tried to say ladies and gentlemen, he finally gave up, handed the bulletin to the ballerina to
read...she had to apologize at once for her voice, which was a very unfair voice for a woman to use.
Her voice was warm, luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this
quote, to show that instead of having people employed that best suit a job, characters often take jobs
that do not suit them. Not only could this cause a person to be miserable with their work, but it limits
the occupations one can have, and makes it extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result,
there s a society where people are punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is
possible for citizens to have equality and sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no
one is joyful. That is to say, that sameness is not equality, much less happiness.
In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has
similar items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of crime.
However, no one interacts with each other. In The Pedestrian the majority of people prefer to stay

Characteristics In The Colonies Of America
The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be
examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This
characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who
came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was
structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church
government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his
assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of
a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and
there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which
were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the
Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not
just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of
Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of
Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected
assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. These elected officials were
usually wealthy, male property owners which

  • 2. The Black-Latino Alliance During the Obama Administration... In 2008, African American presidential nominee Barack Obama garnered 67% of the Latino vote. In his bid for re election, President Barack Obama acquired 71% of the Latino vote (Pew Research Center). With these statistics in mind, one can conclude that there has been a consistent growing pattern of continued co operation between blacks and Latinos at the national level. This is in complete contrast however, to the mindset of some observers who believed that Latinos would not come out in the numbers they did because of racial bias and because of the fact that Obama received much less support amongst Latinos in the democratic primaries when faced against Hilary Clinton (Hero Preuhs, p.3). Many people mistakenly thought this to be so because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is due to several reasons. The first and most important reason is that both these groups have shared the American experience as minorities in quite the same fashion. For example, blacks and Latinos both faced internal colonialism. This is why they have till this day been subordinate to the white race. As Cesar Chavez once said, our separate struggles are really one. A struggle for freedom, for dignity, and for humanity (Chavez, quoted in Hero Preuhs, p.10). For example, as mentioned in the introduction, both blacks and Latinos have higher unemployment rates than whites. Both groups are two to three times more likely to live in poverty as whites. And finally, black and Latino students are more likely to drop out of high school and less likely to score well on standardized tests than white non Hispanic students (Hero Preuhs, p.10). And so this is the primary reason as to why both blacks and Latinos support the same policy agenda which in turn has led to the formation of coalitions between blacks and Latinos. For example, the Rainbow coalition (led by high profile leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Cesar Chavez) became a common term for multiracial coalitions in American Politics which advocated health, social, political, and economic policy benefits to alleviate the disadvantages shared by both groups (Hero Preuhs). Some examples of landmark policies that are important to that of blacks and Latinos ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The kings after Jayavarman II followed the path of their predecessor and engaged in territorial wars. They invaded rival kingdoms and took control. One ruler, Suryavarman I directed his military to the west and expanded the empire to Ayutthaya (Thailand and Laos). The efforts of Jayavarman II and his successors to invade neighbouring kingdoms and seize control allowed the empire to expand and rise successfully to power above the entire Khmer region. As long as I can remember my mom has been bringing home heaps of books from anywhere she can get them. Last year, she came home from the local library book sale with six bags of books. Yes, she loves to read, but she has not read any of those books in the past year. Waiting to be shelved, most of them continue to sit on our basement floor, collecting dust. This habit of my moms annoys me; nevertheless, I am very thankful she loves to read and has passed on a portion of that love to me. Books play a major part in my life from memories of being read to when I was little, reading books I hated in school, and falling in love with the characters of a breathtaking novel. The importance of reading in my life goes all the way back to my childhood. In fact, one of my favorite memories of reading, comes from my childhood. My sister and I loved the book Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr.Seuss; more than that, we loved the funny voice our dad would use when he read it. We would beg him every night to read us that book, and he always did. It was not until years later I realized that he was not as fond of the book as we were. To this day I believe that my love of reading came from those positive experiences as a child, and believe that every parent should take the time to read to their children. Although several signs can point to this statement being true, rap music does not encourage teens to act violently. In fact, many artists/rappers spread positive messages across, giving solutions, and inspiration to the audience. Parents were and still are on the fence of their kids listening to rap music. The explicit types of rap music are poisoning the minds of young teens and can even encourage them to act in the a violent manner or rebel. Although, that is for explicit lyrics, not all rap has explicit lyrics. Altogether, rap music does not encourage teen violence in any way and many individual artists even teach their audience how to act positively. Teenagers seem to click easier to song lyrics, whether it s country, rap, rock, or pop. It can affect teenagers in a positive and negative way, but violence being said in the lyrics does not cause an indication of aggression for the listener. The lyrics may describe their situation perfectly, what they go through and how they feel. That s why we always have those catchy radio tunes stuck in our heads. Alison Churchill, a fan of rapper Eminem from Newsday feed shares her input on what it can do to younger peers. But she thinks the song could have a positive impact, if it can hit a nerve with a teenager and prompt them to go talk to someone about it. Because, Churchill says, The more we talk about a subject, the easier it is to fix. If teens don t usually have anyone to talk to, it can cause an empty feeling of loneliness that can turn into urges of depression, anxiety, mental health issues. When rap music hits home for the younger generation it s telling them to open up to somebody and share what you have to say. Talking about something that is bothersome can be a great solution for those who need or want it. Rap music was creating a negative influence throughout the music industry for awhile, it s agreeable that modern day rap today mostly involves drugs, gangs, violence, money, etc. Although, a lot of it also gives inspiration or at least has that goal being set when creating the music. The Five Blocks theory can be summarized as women can t achieve enlightenment because women are weak, jealous, annoying, desiring and having more affairs in the world. However, the intention of this paper is to describe the role of religion in my personal life, and to briefly explain the functionalist perspective, the symbolic interactionism perspective, types of religious groups, and religion in the United States with the sole purpose to understand religion concepts in a sociological perspective and my personal point of view. The role of religion in my life does not exist, as I am not a religious person. I believe that it is not necessary to follow a particular religion/denomination to practice morality and ethics during our life on earth. I do apply, however (with my own interpretations) the wisdom of the Bible to my life, especially the Ten Commandments. I do believe in one God and I do believe that human s purpose in life is to take care of God s creation, to follow God s words, and to love and accept others no matter what background, religion, status, race, or culture. I find the world and everything in it to work to perfection for me to believe that we were created by mere coincidence and evolution (concepts that Atheist s faith may be based on). There are surely many other ways of avoiding plagiarism but there are five simple rules suggested by Ober et al. (2012). Rule 1: Do not copy It is not a good practice to simply copy what is found in other people s work, books or even your own writing. If you have to do so, do it properly by copying it with quotation marks and appropriate citation. In addition to this, it is good to have a proper time management in which you would have enough time to cite your sources properly. Rule 2: Write in your own words Paraphrasing means putting someone else s ideas into your own words but care must be taken as changing a few words and rearranging the original sentence is still considered as copying . Hence, though paraphrasing is commonly suggested as one of the ways to avoid plagiarism it is much better to avoid paraphrasing and rather use your own original voice . Rule 3: When in doubt, cite This is one of the ways to avoid plagiarism but it should not be done excessively. Otherwise you would end up with excessive citation in your piece of writing and lack of writing in your own words. This is an indication for you to consider rewriting the paper. Rule 4: Don t recycle images, figures, tables or text from one of your previously published papers without citing This is the case of self plagiarising when you republish a figure from earlier publication but fail to cite the original and obtain ... • 45. The Great Outdoors O Is for the Great Outdoors In my opinion, we can sort everyone alive into two categories: outdoor people, and indoor people. I fall into the latter category; being a pale, unathletic girl, it is difficult to be anything else. However, despite my genetic averseness to it, I love being outside, soaking in the beauty, and just enjoying God s creation. There are countless ways to appreciate the great outdoors, even an AC lover like me can find ways to love it. One way I have learned to connect with nature is through photography. About a year and a half ago, I discovered my affinity for photography, and I started seeing the way objects interacted and filled the negative space. There is a certain satisfaction rewarded when I take a picture and every detail just falls in line. Nature is art, a photogenic subject waiting to be studied. Be that as it may, taking pictures outside is somewhat different than working, practicing, and being active outside. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Practices take up about 8 hours weekly and, consequently, it is tough to avoid outdoor activity. Currently, with the summer weather, outside practices are not so much a chance to admire scenery as they are blistering hot and bug filled. During the next couple months, though, the weather will chill, and I ll be able to relish the autumn breezes and the color change of the leaves. My band experience has shown me that in some situations, a semi coerced experience can be as benefiting as an experience you plan. In my family, nature is a chosen bonding point. Our vacations do not occur annually, our schedule is normally too occupied, but we do visit scenic sites every few years. This past summer, we stayed in West Virginia for white water rafting. The trip was terrific, and captivated all of us with the vibrant environs of the camp and the business of the rapids. Spending time outside in a place like that gave me a greater appreciation of ... • 46. How Did Queen Have Influence The Influence On Queen And... Queen and Freddie Mercury s Importance and Influence on Artists Queen is an iconic rock band from the 70 s whose influence transcends genres and continues to inspire and affect artists to this day. There are three main reasons that Queen continues to be so influential and well known, even decades after their peak has passed. The first and most obvious reason is Queen s frontman, Freddie Mercury, and his amazing performances and extraordinary vocal range. The next reason is Queen s accomplishments and the many awards they won during their time. The final reason is their tendency to take risks, break the mold, and experiment. Many well known artists have been influenced by Queen due to these reasons. The fact that people continue to be so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I also cited many reliable dictionaries such as Merriam Webster s Dictionary, Oxford Dictionaries, and Cambridge Dictionaries to define different key terms that appear throughout the paper. Queen s music is still a significant part of today s pop culture. Their music continues to be played on the radio regularly and also still makes appearances in TV shows, commercials, and movies, with a recent example being the soundtrack of the film Baby Driver (2017). Two more examples of Queen s songs appearing in film are the use of the the song Bohemian Rhapsody in the 1992 film Wayne s World, and the use of the song Don t Stop Me Now in the 2004 film Shaun of the Dead. Don t Stop Me Now has also recently made an appearance in commericals for the 2018 Toyota Camry. The fact that Queen s music is still so popular to this day is a testament to their timelessness and their talent. Most people have probably heard a Queen song at some point in their life, whether it was on the radio or in a movie. Freddie Mercury was the lead singer of Queen until his untimely death in 1991, and he is what made Queen so iconic. Mercury once said I won t be a rock star. I will be a legend. And he did exactly that. Mercury is considered by many to be the greatest frontman of all time. He was admired ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Essay about Assessment Assessment for Used Car Negotiation Simulation Summary My target for this negotiation was to get the car at $4,500, the low end of blue book value. $4,500 could be the net price, which means if seller can offer something else, such as maintenance service, parts or accessories to offset some part of the cost, I can accept higher price. My BATNA is to deal with other seller for similar used car. Eventually, I couldn t make any deal with seller during the negotiation because he wanted to sell at $5,000 and his extra accessory offer is not worth $500. And I found out that this car s timing belt has not been changed. It should have been replaced right after 100k mileages and it will cost about $600. Description I entered into the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Considering the high mileage of the car, the timing belt should be replaced immediately and it cost about $600. Seller was not willing to bear the cost. This made me have to think about my BATNA. My BATNA is dealing with other similar car owners. That means I don t have to make commitment to buy this car. So I think it was the time to end the negotiation in a polite way to keep the contact because I may come back to talk to him if other offers are even worse. Finally we didn t make any deal during this negotiation. What worked for me? Clearly sorting out the real needs in my mind and my budget limit is very helpful to figure out target car model, price range, other considerations, alternative solutions, etc. Making a right negotiation strategy based on Lewicki, Hiam, and Olander s analysis model. From their model, I think I should deploy a competitive negotiation strategy in this case. This is a win lose strategy. My purpose is to win at all cost. I should spend time to prepare the negotiation as much as possible. I have no much concern about future state of relationship with seller. Researching on line helped to know the market price, the maintenance options, the accessory value and other choice for similar cars. That made me have BATNA because I know I can get similar car from other source and I do not have to commit to buy at end the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Implementing A New Training Program I have experienced the difficulties and challenges faced with the way this has been in the past. With this new plan, it will completely eliminate the problems that have occurred from previous training processes. The company can save themselves many resources implementing a new training program with the phases: Goals and Objectives, Accessing Company Programs, Hands on workshop, Group/Teamwork activity, Evaluation and Follow up. Figure 1 shows the schedule of each phase and the days in which they should be carried out through the first week of training. Through the implementation of this project no extra resources will need to be used except the time of managers and other employees within the team. These are all miniscule factors in the beginning that will provide tremendous dividends in the success of this employee for the future. The goal of this new training program being implemented is to create a better transition and immediate spark of productive output from new employees. These steps will guide these new employees through a transition to becoming a veteran of the workplace. The benefits involved through the implementation is just as much for the managers as the employees themselves. Managers will be not be wasting time, resources, and money on lost work from new employees not knowing or understanding what they are supposed to be doing. In fact, the change will more efficiently use up the hours wasted when new employees are left with no work to do, create better ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Individuality, Equality, And Sameness Individuality, Equality, and Sameness What is the differentiation between equality and sameness? How does one s identity effect these two notions? In Bradbury s and Vonnegut s fictitious stories, The Pedestrian , Fahrenheit 451 , and Harrison Bergeron , these concepts and their relationship is depicted to the reader in the form of dystopias. These dystopias may not exist, but these science fictional societies certainly could be made to exist. These stories contain elements that anyone can relate to, and like all science fiction, accommodate real life factors such as technology, life, and government. Bradbury s and Vonnegut s stories convey the message that humanity needs to acknowledge its own need for individuality and be aware of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The television program was suddenly interrupted for a news bulletin. It wasn t clear at first as to what the bulletin was about, since the announcer, like all announcers, had a serious speech impediment...the announcer tried to say ladies and gentlemen, he finally gave up, handed the bulletin to the ballerina to read...she had to apologize at once for her voice, which was a very unfair voice for a woman to use. Her voice was warm, luminous, timeless melody (Kurt Bergeron Page. 3). Mr. Bergeron enclosed this quote, to show that instead of having people employed that best suit a job, characters often take jobs that do not suit them. Not only could this cause a person to be miserable with their work, but it limits the occupations one can have, and makes it extremely hard to exceed in a trade or career. As a result, there s a society where people are punished for being different, where there is an absurd idea that it is possible for citizens to have equality and sameness at the same time, and an environment, where no one is joyful. That is to say, that sameness is not equality, much less happiness. In Ray Bradbury s The Pedestrian and Fahrenheit 451 readers enter a society where everyone has similar items, where everyone learns the same facts, and where there is a minuscule amount of crime. However, no one interacts with each other. In The Pedestrian the majority of people prefer to stay ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Characteristics In The Colonies Of America The first characteristic in the colonies of America that can be described as democratic would be examples of majority rule in the different facets of the everchanging governmental structures. This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact which began from forty one separatists who came across for religious freedom. This compact was designed by those of their religion, and was structured as a covenant which grew into a civil government based from that original church government. This compact allowed the group equal say in rules and law, and chose a governor and his assistants by majority rule. The next example of majority rule also was designed from a standpoint of a church organization. Thomas Hooker led congregations from Massachusetts Bay to Connecticut and there organized a self governing colony. They formed what was called the Fundamental Orders which were a series of laws that created a commonwealth based on Christianity. However, different from the Mayflower Compact, the Fundamental Orders were voted on by all members of the community not just church members. The best example of majority rule would be what was called the House of Burgesses in Virginia, but under various other names in other areas, such as the House of Representatives in Massachusetts. These structures of government were formed from elected assemblies, where the lower houses were elected by the popular vote. These elected officials were usually wealthy, male property owners which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
