Terrorism And Its Effects On The World
Terrorism consists of different range of illegal violent activities which is aimed at intimidating and
creating fear in people. I would define terrorism as the use of unlawful violence or threat of
unlawful violence to inculcate fear; intended to coerce or to intimidate governments or societies in
the pursuit of goals that are generally political, religious, or ideological. Within this definition, there
are three key elements violence, fear, and intimidation and each element produce terror in its
victims. This paper is going to define and discuss the issue of terrorismand explain the why is it so
difficult to get a specific definition for term terrorism , while making references to some terrorist
events and organization such as the holocaust, the black Septemberorganization, the boko haram of
west Africa and the al Qaeda group.
Major historic terrorism/ Mass genocide event has been as a result of differences in political
beliefs. In most cases this involves, the left and right winged ideologies and a disagreement in the
direction of change and the speed at which the change is expected. To the left of the political
spectrum we have the Liberals and to the right the Conservatives. The Liberals consist of
individuals who believe there is room for progressive change, the Conservatives on the other hand
would rather maintain the status quo and if at all a change is required, it has to be a retrogressive
change. With the knowledge of the Left and Right winged, we get introduce

The Cherry Orchard and A Doll’s House.
People bring their downfalls upon themselves. Do certain habitually practice leave them
wondering what wrong they did? Torvald from Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Madame
Ranevsky from Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard are left to start afresh at the end of the
plays after they neglected a key element in their lives. Torvald toys with Nora, his wife, fulfilling
only his wants and only his needs and abases her; never considering her his equal. The fallacious
choice Madame Ranevsky makes concerning her home and family leads them to destitution and
separation. Ibsen shows Torvald as being an egotistical man who decides to mend his ways after
his neglected wife leaves him while Chekhov shows Madame Ranevsky neglect as never effecting...

Chekhov shows Grisha s death as the first root of Madame Ranevsky s neglect towards her
family. It s just six years since...a month afterwards poor Grisha was drowned...too much for my
mamma; she ran away, ran away without looking back says Anya on page 6. Ranevsky s poor
nurturing habits led to Grisha s death because she wasn t watching him like a mother should.
His death was the excuse that Ranevsky used to leave for Paris for the next five years. Leaving
the orchard to accumulate a large debt that she must pay off when she returns, or lose the
orchard. Madame Ranevsky neglects that she is poor and gives out money, which increases her
debt. She was born an aristocrat and doesn t understand the meaning of how money was earned.
Her brother, on page 13, describes it as scattering the money . But yet he makes no attempt to
stop her spending. Anya says, She s already sold her villa near Mentone; she s nothing
left...mother s got a footman now, Yasha; we ve brought him here. (Chekhov 5). This quote gives
us insight on how malicious her spending habits are. She hires unnecessary help that she can t
afford. She herself says, I had a lot of money yesterday...I go squandering aimlessly. [Drops the
purse, scattering gold coins] There, I ve dropped it all! (Chekhov 19). The scattering of the coins
is an actual visual of how she neglects money since she lets them fall to the ground, showing no

Nalyzing The Concept Of Palliative Care Essay
nalyzing the concept of Palliative care
Mauricio A. Barrera

Throughout life and individual can experience a myriad of unexpected developments can which
can have a dramatic effect on their lifestyle and how they are able to communicate with others.
Comorbidities are the multiple appearances of a serious chronic disease like cancer, chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, which have a
negative effect on the patient s way of life ( Comorbidities , 2016). In these situations, Health
Care providers can recommend palliative care, a specialized form of medicine that works
alongside the patient with a team of health care professionals and social workers, to individualize
a care plan toward realistic expectation and agreed upon the goals of increasing the patient s
quality of life, relieving pain, and minimizing their disease symptom level ( What is palliative
care?, n.d.). While palliative care can sometimes be mistaken as being synonymous with hospice,
the difference between the two is that hospice care relegates patients for whom are actively dying
therapeutic treatment and focus on relieving only the patient s pain and symptoms until their
eventual death. The goal of the treatment plan is to work toward managing the patient s pain and
symptoms to an attainable and desired level for a patient when curative treatment is not possible or
for patients who are terminally ill but who

Theories Of Gender Socialization
GENDER ROLE SOCIALIZATION
Social learning and Gender schema has been two theories that have been rambling the minds of
many. One thought that runs through my mind is how do children develop their roles of
identities? Many say that the reason why a girl acts like a girl and boy acts like a boy is because
the punishment that they have received for doing certain things, as well as the rewards that have
been given to them as they do good. This theory states that children learn their gender roles by
receiving rewards or punishments, and throughput observations and imitation (Zoe Jackson
2014). If a little boy walks into a toy store and picks out a barbie doll that first reaction that a
parent might give is a loud no , this might trigger the mind of the little boy and he will come to a
realization that what he has done was not a good thing. Rather if it is a little girl that did well in
school her reward might be a doll. A little boy might get punished for liking or even playing with
something that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when it came to me liking certain things. He said A manis a man; he was born to be strong and take

a girl. I think I just feared my father and what he might have thought of me. I grew up with an
older sister so at times I did get curious of what she might have that I did not, but my father s
words always haunted me. I knew that he loved me and did everything for me so i never
questioned his ways. Some contributing factors that lead me to be the person that i am was the
fact that my father raised me as a macho man . I always saw girls cry so i knew that i could not cry

My essay is going to be about the advantages that the North and the South had on each other. In my
essay i m also going to talk about political, social, economic and the population. Advantages that the
North had were they had more train tracks and they had more people in the North than the South
did. The train tracks were important and that helped the Northby transport the soldiers to the South
instead making the soldiers walk and make them get tired. The North had more people that means

Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Emily Dickinson is perhaps one of the most intriguing American poets studied. The remote look in
her eyes mirror her life, which she mostly spent secluded in her home in Amherst, Massachusetts.
While leading an outwardly reclusive life, she unleashes the faculties of her mind in her powerful
poetry. She addresses compelling themes such as death, depression, human despair, individual
capability, and the art of poetry. Her feelings on these subjects emerge in her poems, but her exact
thoughts are difficult to uncover since her poetry is so highly enigmatic. Likewise, the subject
matter of Christianity in her poetry remains one of the most inconsistent of Dickinson s recurring
themes. Emily Dickinsonposses an uncanny ability to wrestle down the perfect diction, thus creating
worlds of hope, despair, faith, and endless questioning.Through her use of imagery, Dickinson
displays her linguistic prowess and the intricacies of language.
I m Nobody! Who are you?, this poem opens with the declaration that the speaker is Nobody. this
nobody ness, however, quickly comes to mean that she is outside of the public sphere; perhaps,
here Dickinson is touching on her own failure to become a published poet, and the fact that to
most of society, she is Nobody. The speaker does not seem bitter about this instead she asks the
reader, playfully almost, Who are you? (1), and offers us a chance to be in a sort of cahoots with
her Are you Nobody Too? (2). In the next line, she assumes

Medtronic vs Stryker
Executive Summary
The New Year started off well in the US medical devices industry and shows no signs of slowing
down in 2008. The robust demand for medical equipment and the increasingly ageing population
helped the shares of several medical devices makers outperform the market in the second half of
2007. We maintain the belief that, as a whole, the medical deviceindustry is highly profitable with
high barriers to entry. In addition, during periods of economic uncertainty, medical equipmenthas
seen continued gains.
We are evaluating two companies within the Medical Equipment Industry: Stryker Corp.
(NYSE:SYK) and Medtronic Inc. (NYSE:MDT). Our main goal is to analyze which company
might make a better investment.

Most leading US medical devices manufacturers sought to introduce new products, secure market
share and drive long term growth to remain competitive. Despite economic jitters in the US, the
industry remained healthy and showed little sign of slowing down significantly in 2008. It serves
more than 300 million people and should continue to be profitable. As patients continue to make
their quality of life an important healthcare priority and are willing to invest in treatments, medical
devices manufacturers and providers should experience growth. Medical device companies
continued to devote time and money to determine national regulatory requirements, conduct
additional overseas clinical trials and equip themselves new medical technologies. The demand for
medical devices was driven by growing expenditure on healthcare around the world, including
building hospitals and clinics, focusing attention on the health of citizens and adopting better
technologies. One of the ongoing issues, however, was the safety and quality of devices originating
from overseas, particularly China.
In 2007, the US medical devices industry saw healthy growth, thanks to strong sales of medical
devices. As a result, the shares of most leading medical devices companies rose in the second half
of 2007.

Philosophy 101
Paper Proposal Islam does not promote violence and terrorism I believe that there have been
many misconceptions of Islam that are portrayed and plastered all over the news, media and
even billboard for years now. Millions of Muslims living in the western world have found
themselves under a lot of inspection by their societies. Charles Peirce a philosopher who is
known for his methods for fixing belief proves a good point and idea in order for people to be more
considerable of their thoughts and beliefs to reason correctly before judging the Islamic religion to
be promoting violence. People instead of judging all people in Islam and any religion, should be
thinking more maturely as to who is the evil doer, instead of taking their anger out on innocent
people and the wellbeing in society to keep a unity in the world. However, another famous
philosopher whom I disagree with who argues Peirce s methods of belief is David Hume. Hume
believes that of which to avoid all problems, all religious belief should be rid of. The question
whether Islam promotes violence and terrorism is a question that I believe is an answer many
people don t understand the answer to and lack the knowledge of their own to make the distinction.
In Philosophy the study of Epistemology uses logic to structure an argument and types of evidence
you can use to support certain conclusions. What constitutes people s knowledge in Islam? This
helps support the argument as to

The Sea Wolf And Julie Otsuka s The Buddha
Privilege is something that has impacted the world for centuries. There are vast arrays of
different types of privilege, but one of the more prevalent ones seems to be male privilege. Quite
a few of the literally works that have been covered in class have male privilege littered through
them to an extent. Two of the most notable works that male privilege played a key role in were
Jack London s The Sea Wolf and Julie Otsuka s The Buddha in the Attic. While both novels
contain male privilege in them they both take pretty different approaches to the same idea. In The
Sea Wolf, women are seen as frail and only fit for certain types of work, most of that work being
rearing the children and taking care of the house. In The Buddha in the Attic, the story is very
different. Women are expected to do everything that a man would do and much more. The setting of
both novels start off in America at the turn of the century and the main characters are either from or
had moved to the west coast. Culture is the major difference in how genderis perceived in these
novels. The main and outstanding difference is that in The Sea Wolf the novel follows white
culture and in The Buddha in the Attic the novel follows Japanese culture. Privilege in The Sea
Wolf is the kind male privilege that comes to people s minds. The way it goes is that men get to
work a job while women stay home and take care of the house and children. In The Sea Wolf, there
is not much said about women for a good chunk of the

Speech On Animal Exploitation
Exploitation is explained as the act of using resources or treating people unfairly in
order to benefit from their effort or labour. Exploitation has been a big issue discussed among
all countries in the world because it can be occured everywhere and fiercely trap everybody
without exception. There are some kinds of exploitation, e.g. human exploitation known as
human trafficking and animal exploitation which has been the cause of population reduction
and extinction for some species. Between those exploitations, human exploitation or human

Gender Relations During The Iranian Revolution
The subject of gender relations in Iran has been a contentious social issue and has become more
controversial since the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Mainstream news outlets such as CNN and
BBC have reported that the Islamization that followed the Islamic Republic has led to a reversal of
women s rights in Iran(Nia 2010; BBC 2009). The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have,
however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context
of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict
many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided
avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution
mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a
conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which
gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of
women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s
movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding
should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral
selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate
knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). The development of such a

George Berkeley and the External World
Jack Bate
George Berkeley and the external world
In 1999, Larry and Andy Wachowski directed The Matrix, a movie featuring the future in which
reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality or cyberspace called the Matrix
. This fake reality was created by sentient machines to pacify and subdue the human population. To
some, this movie represents just another brilliant Hollywood sci fi action film, but for others, it
challenges the understanding of perspective, reality and appearance ( The matrix 101, 2003). The
Matrix heavily relies on the concepts of Irish Philosopher George Berkeley who believed reality, or
reality as humans perceive it, is fundamentally mental and therefore immaterial which is known as
Idealism. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berkeley s attempt to popularize his pro mind conception of the external world, Three Dialogues
between Hylas and Philonous, serves to undermine Locke s distinctions between primary and
secondary qualities of the external world. In his publication, Berkeley uses dialogue between Hylas
and Philnous, which consists of a series of arguments, to determine the most sound theory. Ground
rules of the debate consists of: whoever of the two s position avoids skepticism about knowledge of
physical objects wins and that if one position can be shown to entail that we cannot know anything
about physical objects, consequently that position should be dismissed as absurd (Kelly, 2013).
Throughout the arguments, Berkeley weakens Locke s theory of Limited Representationalism by
counteracting Locke s with the possibility that instead of matter that comprises physical objects in
the external world, these objects are simply ideas. Drawing back on Berkeley s catchy motto, to be
is to be perceived , he proposes three arguments that support his idealist view that the motto
encapsulates. The three pieces of support also importantly shed skepticism upon Lockes primary
and secondary distinctions involving matter . The three statements of support include: The

A Study On Capital Structure Theory Essay
Literature Review
Capital structure theory has long been a controversial issue in the finance literature.
The two Novel laureates, Franco Modigliani and Metron Miller (here after called M M) were the
first to present a formal model in 1958 on valuation of capital structure in corporate finance theory
and is still the cornerstone of modern corporate finance. MM were the first to take a sharp look at
the relationship between Capital Structure and the cost of capital. In their seminal papers (1958,
1963), they states some propositions. In proposition I they postulated that debt has no value for
firms in a tax free world. In a no tax scenario the investors can offset the debt by replicating its
financial actions. This proposition got the name MM theory of irrelevance . Though their
proposition theoretically sounds good but it is only valid under perfect market conditions (no tax
is one of them) which were not actually possible in real world. They corrected this proposition in
1963 incorporating the effect of tax on value and cost of the capital of the firm (Modigliani and

Nvc Tool Analysis
Reflect on the usefulness of the two tools.
I particularly enjoyed reading all about SCARF, more so than NVC, I think because I can relate
more to it. Perhaps this means I need to work more on NVC? I m not sure because I also like to
think I can politely and correctly communicate with others, usually doing it assertively but in a non
violent way.
The five key elements of SCARF (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Fairness) were
perhaps a little more natural to me, than using the NVC process, except for Autonomy, which I have
only just learned about in this unit.
I believe they are both very useful to learn, perfect and utilize in every day life with relationships,
at work, with the self, etc.
How would you apply the two tools in your daily life? Use two concrete examples for both tools (4
examples).

I have had zero control, or at least it has mostly felt that way! It stresses me out, and in turn, my

me, and could be potentially putting a strain on some of my personal relationships, it is important
to me to move onto the next stage of my life as soon as possible; we will all be happier.
I did not really know much at all about autonomy until reading Rock s Journal (2008), but it is
something I naturally crave (especially the element of control). I thought it was just down to the F

reassuring to know that autonomy is a natural instinct for all of

UML to Java Executable Code Generator Sai Priya Anumula, California State University,
Fullerton Abstract Automatic Code generation from UML diagrams gains much interest lately in
software design, because it has many benefits as it reduces the effort to generate code and
moreover automated code is less error prone than writing code manually. However, major
challenges in this area include checking consistency of UML models, and ensuring accuracy,
maintainability, and efficiency of the generated code. In this paper we discuss a tool called
UJECTOR,which is used for automatic generation of executable java code from UML diagrams.
UML diagrams like class diagram, sequence diagram and activity diagram are passed as input to the

converts Class or interface model elements into code. It generates code in various languages like
c, c#, c++, java, Visual Basic, Visual Basic. NET, Python, PHP, and Action Script. In this Class

the gap between UML models and source code. Eclipse does this by extracting data from UML
models to generate source code or by reverse engineering source code to produce UML models.
2.3. Rhapsody This tool generates C++ code from UML object and state chart diagrams. It also
takes message sequence charts (MSC) as an additional input. The tool takes STATEMATE

Symbols To Help Children To Expose Children At An Early Age
Expose children at an early age to reading environments in order to help them understand that books
are symbols that can have meaning and can be read.
At first, a young child could probably see a book as one more of his toys but as he or her are
continually exposed to reading they will learn to turn pages by themselves and later they will
pretend to read a book and make vocal sounds when reading a book.
When parents read to their children, children have the opportunity to see a variety of things that are
new to them children but others have meaning to them or they just recognize them.
When children have been exposed to reading, Children have the opportunity to learn rhythms, letter
s sound, phonemic awareness that will help them to develop reading skills.
Children and parents can be members of a reading group where they can learn new reading
strategies, social emotional skills, friendship, and network new resources that can help them to
grow academically and cognitively. Through books toddlers learn to recognize their emotions and
they imitate how to solve their problems.
Books help children to develop their imagination.
Reading books to children help them to give names for people, things, and words for actions.
Through reading, children develop listening skills. They enrich their vocabulary. They are exposed
to different places, times, animals, letters, colors, shapes, and they mirror themselves seeing images
similar or equal to them. And so on.

This is a British American Movie that was acted in 1951 and this was an adaptation of the novel
The African Queen that was written in 1935 by C.S Forester. The director of this film is John
Huston and the producers were John Woolf and Sam Spiegel. The characters Samuel Sayer and
his sister Rose are missionaries from Britain who have gone on a mission in Kungdu, a village
of German s colony in East Africa just when the First World War had started. All the supplies and
mails are delivered by a small boat that uses steam and it is named African Queen and it is
driven by a rough Canadian who has an intolerable behavior and whose name is Charllie. He
warns these two missionaries that there is war between Germany and Britain but they choose not
to escape but rather remain and thus witness how the Germans burn down completely their
mission center and capture all the villagers into slavery. Samuel decides to show protest against
this evil acts and he is eventually captured and beaten brutally by the German soldiers and this is
the eventual cause of his death (Huston Agee). There is a lot of enmity displayed by the Germans
against the British and to the Africans and thus it is suicidal to pass through or near a German

King Buchadnezzar 2 Research Paper
King Nebuchadnezzar II (634 562 BCE) was the greatest king of ancient Babylon, succeeding
his father, Nabopolassar. King Nabopolassar had defeated the Assyrians with the help of the
Medes and liberated Babylonia from Assyrian rule. In this way he provided for his son (as Philip
II would do for his son Alexander later) a stable base and ample wealth on which to build an
opportunity for greatness which Nebuchadnezzar took full advantage of. Nebuchadnezzar II
defeated the Egyptians and their allies the Assyrians at Carchemish, subdued Palestine and the
region of Syria and, consolidating his power, controlled all the trade routes across Mesopotamia
from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea. Remaining true to the vision of his inaugural
address, the great king spent the tolls he collected and the taxes he gathered in creating a city
which, he hoped, would be recognized as a wonder of the world (and, indeed, his hopes were
realized in later writers adding the walls of Babylonand, in particular, the Ishtar gate to the list of
the Seven Wonders of the World). In the forty three years of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar II made
the most of the time employing a vast army of slave labor to surround his city with walls so thick
that chariot races were conducted around the tops and which stretched fifty six miles in length,
encircling an area of two hundred square miles.

Understanding Cross Cultural Communication Barriers
It is a challenge to communicate effectively with people that from different countries and cultures.
Due to the different backgrounds and cultures, there are a number of barriers to effective cross
cultural communication. The same words have different meanings to people that from different
cultures, even the people that speak the same language. In my own opinion, there are three aspects
of cross cultural communicationbarriers: they are language, behavior and emotion.
Firstly, language is always an serious barrier to people in the whole world. People who speak the
same language also have misunderstandings commonly, so there is no doubt that people from
different cultural and linguistic backgrounds have communication barriers. I can say language is a
complicated thing in the world; moreover, communication among people speak different languages
is difficult. Sometimes, words that from mispronunciations can lead to misunderstandings of
meanings. In this situation, people can not communicate with each other effectively, and people
who are in this conversation may feel uncomfortable with the unhappy ending of the talk. People
look at the world through language, which includes emotions and concepts. If you consider how
many times that you misunderstand someone speaking in your language, you can imagine how
difficult it is to know the whole meaning from a person has a different background is talking to
you. Therefore, language barrier can exist in everyone s conversation and

A look no one else can steal, which is ironic for her appearance was stolen or inspired from
someone else. Arleen Sorkin is the inspiration for Harley Quinn. When Sorkin appears in an
episode of Days of Our Lives dressed as a jester, roller skating, and having some make up on she
inspired Paul Dini to bring Harley to life. In the article, The Strange, Hidden Story of Harley
Quinn Vulture, writer Abraham Riesman gives the best description of the appearance Harley
Quinn holds. Nevertheless, Timm was and is a perfectionist and labored to give this cameo
character a distinctive look: a red and black full body jumpsuit adorned with playing card
diamonds, ruffled cuffs, and a dual pronged jester s cap, Abraham describes in his article the
way Bruce Timm animated Harley Quinn. That image and appearance of Harley is the one
every fan knows and loves up until 2009, when video game creators introduced a remastered
version of Harley for the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. In the video game, Harley
switches out her classic wear for something more along the lines of thigh high boots and a corset
that nearly made her boobs pop out. Although, she still maintained the makeup Harley Quinn
has. Many fans felt as though this was just a sexualization of Harley Quinn, and her appearance
got worse or severely sexualized with time. In 2010, Harley was once again reintroduced to
comics, this time with very little clothing covering her. Clearly the very little clothing was not
working for the crazy clown, because just lest than three years later D.C. reintroduced her again
the New 52 comic books. To get a great glimpse of the appearance Harley holds, the readers can
see it in Harley Quinn: Volume One Hot in the City. Between the issues of Picky Sticky and Hot

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies
Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and
contradiction.
Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law
Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups
as feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some
areas of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or
theory but instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and
contradiction. They tend to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes
supports a status quo of some people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a
disadvantage. They believe due to this inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve
the system. Indeterminacy appears to be able to be split up into several smaller critical categories
and it is this critique which shall be dealt with first.
1.Indeterminacy
In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that
are contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases
that come before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on
the idea known as legal reasoning.
Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of
abstract categories with no

Kurt Vonnegut s personal experiences of World War II and the firebombing of Dresden were

love and compassion in a world where humans are helpless against an indifferent fate.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Through critical analysis, historical research, and textual evidence, a study on Kurt Vonneguts
background will be conducted in order to display the effects that the era in which he lived had on

A baby boy, named after his father, was introduced into the world on November 11, 1922; this day,
better known as Armistice Day, was set aside to celebrate the peace treaty signed after World War
II. The United States of America was celebrating a time of hopeful peace and prosperity. But, a

support of the Bavarian Fascist Party. Ironically, this child who was born in a time of optimistic
abundance would grow up amidst a horrible economic depression and would become a man as his
country was preparing to enter a brutal war.
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. was born to his father and Edith Lieber in Indianapolis, Indiana on Armistice
Day. At home, his parents struggled to pay every bill but still ensured that their children became

By August 1680, the stage had been set. The movement s leaders had chose August 12 as the date
on which the revolt would take place (169). The 1680 Pueblo Revolt was the culmination of
decades of exploitation and mistreatment of the Pueblo peoples of New Mexico at the hands of
their Spanish overlords. The Cortes and Coronados set off on expeditions to New Mexicobecause of
the gold laden settlements always rumored to lie just beyond the horizon (23). Andrew Knaut

First, Knaut is unable to fully overcome the limit of resources that he has. Even though Knaut is
able to describe the lifestyle of the Pueblos and tell their story, the audience still learns more about
the Spaniards than the Pueblo. Second, Knaut also does not expand on why the conspirators
decided to exclude certain Pueblos from their plot. Knaut leaves this unexplained and the audience
confused and curious. Lastly, Knaut devotes considerable attention to how Hispanic settlers
absorbed Pueblo traits, but says almost nothing about how Pueblos absorbed Hispanic traits. Knaut
again leaves the audience with unexplained content that makes the reader curious. Although his
novel had some negatives, Knaut deserves sort of a break because of the limitations of sources.

Dracula s Role Of Women During The Victorian Era
Have you ever wondered why women are the way they are today? Well, Dracula takes a very
good look at how women were once treated and hints at what they will evolve into. Dracula takes
place during the Victorian Era where women were considered less than men. Dracula was written
back in 1897 and contains Religious references that aid the main characters to subdue the cruel
vampire known as Dracula. During the Victorian Erawomen were stay at home wives and their
only job was to have children and to tidy up the house. They were devoted to their husband and
everything they did was to benefit their husband. Women were viewed as fragile creatures that
should not be involved in anything dangerous. However, some of these women, such as the three
vampire sisters, are very dangerous, capable of killing children so that they may live longer, which
contradicts the thought that women are fragile and need protecting. In Bram Stoker s Draculathe

Efficient Market Hypothesis For The Real World
Efficient Market Hypothesis has been controversial issues among researcher for decades. Until now,
there is no united conclusion whether capital markets are efficiency or not. In 1960s, Fama (1970)
believed that market is very efficient despite there are some trivial contradicted tests. Until recently,
both empirical and theatrical efficient market hypothesis was being disputed by behavior finance
economist. They have found that investor have psychological biases and found evidences that some
stocks outperform other stocks. Moreover, there are evidences prove that market are not efficient
for instance financial crisis, stock marketbubble, and some investor can earn abnormal return which
happening regularly in stockmarkets all over the world. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to
demonstrate that Efficient Market Hypothesis in stock (capital) markets does not exist in the real
world by proofing four outstanding unrealistic conditions that make market efficient: information is
widely available and cost free, investor are rational, independent and unbiased, There is no liquidity
problem in stock market, and finally stock prices has no pattern.
Efficient capital market It was generally believed that securities markets were extremely efficient in
reflecting information about the stock market as a whole (Fama 1970). To extent that when there is
new information about stock rise, the news was dispersed immediately and it affects the security s
price at that time.

In the fifth reading assignment of Hillbilly Elegy, the chapters highlight J.D s time in high school,
the Marines, and college.
The start of chapter seven dealt with the death of Papaw. I think this death took a toll on J.D
largely because Papaw was the closest thing to a stable father figure he had. I love the
relationship that Papaw and J.D had, and I m sure it was one that J.D cherishes to this day.
Reading about Papaw s funeral was especially tough for me because I have been exactly where
J.D was in that moment. My grandfather passed away in the summer of 2015, and I also spoke at
his funeral. I was extremely close with my Grandpa, or Papa as I called him, and reading about
J.D s experience brought up some tough feelings for me. I noticed that J.D s mother took the loss of
her father extremely had. She was thrown into a prescription drug induced tailspin. This is yet
another example of the loss of a loved one completely derailing the life of one of their loved ones.
Her story reminded me of Scott from Evicted. This also made me feel for J.D, he had just lost his
beloved grandfather, and now he had to worry about his mother struggling with her addiction.
Later in the chapter, I was happy to read that Lindsay had a great life going for her. She is one of
my favorite characters in this book, and I was joyed to read that she had found a great husband.
I also thought it was completely selfish for J.D s mother to ask him to move to Dayton with her
newest boyfriend. I was also sickened to read that J.D s mother sent him to a therapist just so
she could interrogate him about how he acted towards his mother. I think if J.D saw an actual
therapist, he could have really benefited from it. I also really respected that Lindsay dropped
everything she was doing to go pick up J.D from Dayton. I think this really speaks to their
relationship, and how much she cares for her brother. I was also stunned to read that J.D s mother
agreed to marry a man she had only known for one week. I knew that she had relationship issues,
but this still shocked me. I think J.D eventually became numb to the amount of partners his mother
brought home. The story of J.D s mother begging for his clean urine was extremely sad to me. I
think

The Tortilla Curtain Racist
In the exposition of the T.C Boyle s novel The Tortilla Curtain we are introduced to the characters,
one of the protagonist characters Delaney Mossbacher. Whom is introduced as a liberal humanist
but as the novel progresses he becomes a reactionary racist. This all occurred when CГЎndido and
Delaney first encountered, which in the events to follow their decisions and actions are
impacted by each other s personal worlds. However mainly focusing on Delaney psychological
behavior, he evolved to be a racist towards Mexicans. They are main influences in Delaney s
personal life which gives us an insight on why he gradually evolved to be a racist as the novel

Examining his first reaction when he collided with CГЎndido was what the damage done to the car

initial thoughts. Lacking the empathy in the incident regarding with the car accident. Makes you
wonder, why such a person would have that first thought. Next he admitted to himself, he s ashamed
of not thinking about the human he just hit rather that of the car. At the first moment together,
CГЎndido asked for money which Delany complied by giving him twenty dollars. Now regarding
the fact CГЎndido is undocumented and Mexican, would Delaney gave twenty dollars to a white
person? No. Would he cared for the person more if he ran into a white person? He might have.
Following the accident, when he took his car to the mechanic, he lied saying it was an animal who
dented the car. Right after that, he said he s glad of leaving CГЎndido behind. Subconsciously
Delaney is experiencing racist tendencies, by disregarding another being because of their race, and
not liking them. Looking about his thoughts on illegal campers polluting the rivers and trials, that
infuriates him but narrowing a group of people because they committed that act isn t right. As the
novel progresses, his naturalistic view go over his humanistic view for the sake of keeping the

Analysis Of The Grizzly Man By Werner Herzog
Grizzly Man
Werner Herzog directed a documentary film called Grizzly Man to show viewers how much interest
Timothy Treadwell demonstrated towards human nature and how he demonstrates human nature
through himself. Timothy Treadwell spent thirteen long summers in Alaskan Peninsula. He went to
go portray his love and protection to the wild life and grizzly bears, which lead him to his
miserable death. Herzog creates a sequence of scenes, comments, and interviews from people who
is well connected directly or indirectly with Treadwell. His purpose of directing the Grizzly Man
documentary through Treadwell s own film was to convey the viewers the difference of human
beings and the wild life animals. Herzog s main effective argument was to convey how courageous
and how insane Treadwell was to spend thirteen summers in the wild life of grizzly bears. Werner
Herzog created this documentary of Treadwell s films because he was not your ordinary type of
guy. He was very bold, brave, adventurous. Herzog introduces Treadwell with one of Treadwell s
shots that he films during his grizzly bear journey. Treadwell states,
I m out in the prime of big green. Behind me are Ed and Rowdy, members of an up and coming
sub adult gang. They are challenging everything, including me. Goes with the territory. If I show
weakness, if I retreat, I may be hurt. I may be killed. I Must hold my own if I m stay within this
land. For once there is weakness they will exploit it. They will take me out. They will

Summary Of The Lost Letters Of Pergamum
Longenecker s The Lost Letters of Pergamum encapsulates the socio historical, cultural, and
political atmosphere of the first century setting in which Mark s Gospel would have been
experienced. Understanding Jesus in context of this background alters the way I understand the
Gospel of Mark. Specific passages in Mark can be reflected upon based on the socio historical,
cultural, and political aspects of the setting described in Longenecker s book. In The Lost Letters
of Pergamum, readers see Euphemos and Antipas admonishing Luke against associating himself
with Christians for they worship and follow a different lord than the emperor as well as endorse an
empire other than Rome.
In the time following the destruction of the temple, the people attributed their wealth, social status,
and success to having favor with the gods. In fact, Antipas goes as so far as to say the gods made
the Roman empire eternal and sovereign. Antipas attributes his rise in social status to the gods.
Jesus, on the other hand, does not look at riches that way. When a rich man fell at the feet of Jesus
asking how to inherit eternal life, Jesus instructed the man to sell what he has, give to the poor,
and follow Him (Matthew 10:17 31). This goes against the aforementioned social belief throughout
the history of Rome. This means that riches are not in fact a sign of favor from the gods.
Additionally, in Mark 13, Jesus speaks of the destruction of the temple. When Antipas read this
section, he realized that

Present Tense In MSA
Present Tense
The present tense in MSA is usually indicated by the imperfective form. The imperfective form in
MSA is an ambiguous form. It can express all types of present tense in MSA, namely, it can be
used to give a right now reading, habitual present and present progressive. When researchers discuss
the present tense, they usually distinguish between two main groups of verbs that are state verbs
and dynamic or event verbs. State verbs usually give the right now reading. For example:

In contrast, dynamic verbs in the imperfective form in MSA usually have two possible
interpretations and the context or adverbs determine one of them. For example, verbs in the
imperfective form such as yamshi `walk or yakulu `eat can have the two interpretations.
Therefore, both verbs can be used with adverb like kull a yawm in `every day which denotes a
habitual interpretation or adverb like alaan `now which denotes a progressive, Also, they are called
stative or static

The Day Of National Parks
The outdoors, there s something about being outside and the beauty of the forest, glaciers,
oceans, and vast wilderness that draws humanity to it. Could it be getting back to our natural
state or just trying to connect with God s creation? Either way Millions of people travel to National
Parks a year: 3 million traveled to yellowstone alone in 2015 (Visser). But sadly not all of them
have favorable trips; in 2007 the National Park Servicereported 3,593 search and rescuemissions or
SAR missions (National Parks). The average budget for SAR missions is $200,000 and each year
that is exceeded. The solution is charge the bill of the mission to the one in need of being rescued.
Now this would not apply in every case, there are times no matter how hard you prepared or how
careful you were trouble still comes your way. For these missions you won t be billed, but if you go
past marked barriers, not properly equipped, or have been medically prescribed not to do vigouroux
exercise then you will be billed for the cost of your rescue.
On Grouse Mountain in British Columbia a group of skiers and snowboarders had to be guided

Sustainability On Brevard College Campus
Sustainability on Brevard College Campus
Environmental sustainability is the ability to be able to continue a certain process or use a certain
resource indefinitely (Mason). For example, if you re using a certain resource and you know it s
going to run out one day, that resource is unsustainable. Sustainability is important because a lot of
the practices that we do in modern society from agriculture, to energy source, and even
development, are completely depleting our resources. This practices were also made to
accommodate our fast pace lifestyle, everything is built and made to be fast and cheap, nothing
is made to last anymore. Many people are realizing the importance of being sustainable and the
world is slowly changing to sustainable practices like Renewable energy and sustainable
agriculture, while also changing the fast and easy mind set to a more reusable one. Brevard
College has boarded the sustainable train of the world by making several additions to the school
like solar panels, alternative transportation options, a Fair trade and organic Coffee shop, and
several environmental based clubs. Although they are heading in the right direction, many changes
still need to be made in order to achieve a well developed sustainable campus.
Like states above, one of the changes made in the past couple years had been the addition of solar
panels on top of the campus cafeteria. Although they re small, it s a step into the right direction
towards renewable energy powering

Ethnic And Racial Diversity
After reading the ethnic and racial differences chapter, what stood out for me was how much
ethnicity and culture could negatively affect a student s academic life. It is important to treat
those of different ethnicities, races and cultures the same as you would treat anyone else,
including yourself. Ethnicity is defined as a cultural heritage or characteristics shared by a
group, such as history, homeland, language, traditions or religion (Woolfolk Margetts,
Educational Psychology, 2016). There are many types of ethnicities; Australia alone has 35
different types of ethnic groups. Everyone has family heritage extending from somewhere else
in the world, the most common include Italian, Greek, German and Irish, and this forms part of
your ethnic heritage. My family heritage extends from Holland and Germany, where my
mothers side of my family were all born in Holland and migrated just before my mother was
born, my fathers family migrated from Germany during the 1800 s. Race is defined as a socially
constructed category of people who share biologically transmitted traits (Woolfolk Margetts,
Educational Psychology, 2016). These traits include common features such as skin colour and hair
texture. As I was born in Australia and my heritage descends from Europe, I am classified as
White. Other race categories include African American or Black, American Indian or Alaskan
Native, Asian and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander. Biologically there are no pure races

Is Beowulf The Ideal Hero Essay
Beowulf is an Old English poem in which a hero gains fame and riches through defeating
monsters.Beowulf the hero, is form a clan known as the geats. In the poem he is said to be one of
the bravest and strongest men on earth. Beowulf begins his journey by slaying a monster known as
Grendel, that has been terrorizing the Danes. Once Grendel is killed he boasts about his brute
strength and earns kinship from King Hrothgar. Beowulfthen proceeded to fight in two more
battles with the third one ending in a deadly defeat for Beowulf. So why is Beowulf considered the
perfect heroby his society?
Part of it had to do with the fact that in Beowulf s time period and society, they had certain
actions, traits, and values that Anglo Saxons deemed heroic. There are a couple distinct traits that
make up the Anglo Saxon hero. The first one is Loyalty. Anglo Saxons were immensely loyal. In
the poem the author writes, Beowulf arose, with his men around him, ordering a few to remain
with their weapons (47 ). This quote signifies that Beowulf had men that were loyal to him. They
considered Beowulf worthy enough to follow his orders. The next trait would be strength. A hero is
always related to strength whether it be mental or physical. In this case Beowulf had tremendous
physical strength. The poem shows Beowulf s brute strength in a quote that states, Grasped at a
strong hearted wakeful sleeper and was instantly seized himself, claws Bent back as Beowulf
leaned up on one arm. That shepherd

woman who seems to be genuinely worried about the state of Richard s

her conception of Richard s welfare does not consider his happiness an
important issue. Much of Richard s rebellious spirit seems to
develop from his struggle against Granny s rules.
On the other hand, Richard s father is important primarily for
abandoning him and his mother and thus causing much of their
deprivation. He seems to be a simple and somewhat selfish man with
little interest in the effect of his behavior on his family.

Population Growth in Perspective Essays
Population Growth in Perspective
Introduction
To anyone even remotely acquainted with the situation, the ever expanding world population can
easily be a cause of grave concern. Indeed, the simple realization that the total world population
will most likely be doubling within the next century may seem to imply catastrophe. Considering
the strain our current huge population puts on the world, is it not natural to presume that two
times our number will spell disaster? While this is the view held by many prominent voices, there
also is a less noticed group of people who contend that the resiliency of the earth and the ingenuity
of its people will keep the planet a decent place to live.
In this paper, I attempt to critically examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally, people have operated under the assumption that the world was (or was on its way to
being) overpopulated.
I began my research in this topic with the same outlook. I initially wanted to research
overpopulation because I was deeply concerned with its implications. I wanted to understand the
causes of population growth and to learn what might be done to ameliorate the problem. Soon into
the research, however, I happened upon pieces of literature opposing the idea of an overpopulation
crisis and immediately respected certain aspects of their arguments. Quickly, I was forced to
change the scope of my question from what will be the consequences of overpopulation? to what
exactly does overpopulation mean? and does an overpopulation problem even exist? .
History of Population Crises
The seed of my doubt that an overpopulation crisis was imminent was planted when I began to
examine the historical record of population concerns. As a history major, I have at least some
respect for patterns in history. While I recognize that new things can emerge, often a current event
is a variant on an earlier expressed theme.
Regarding population, the first documented concerns over population size date from a Babylonian
epic from 1600 BC (Cohen, 1995). More writings on the topic across the globe have continued
since then, themselves probably increasing at a rate faster than the

In most cases this involves, the left and right winged ideologies and a disagreement in the direction of change and the speed at which the change is expected. To the left of the political spectrum we have the Liberals and to the right the Conservatives. The Liberals consist of individuals who believe there is room for progressive change, the Conservatives on the other hand would rather maintain the status quo and if at all a change is required, it has to be a retrogressive change. Torvald from Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Madame Ranevsky from Anton Chekhov s The Cherry Orchard are left to start afresh at the end of the plays after they neglected a key element in their lives. Torvald toys with Nora, his wife, fulfilling only his wants and only his needs and abases her; never considering her his equal. The fallacious choice Madame Ranevsky makes concerning her home and family leads them to destitution and separation. Ibsen shows Torvald as being an egotistical man who decides to mend his ways after his neglected wife leaves him while Chekhov shows Madame Ranevsky neglect as never effecting... It s just six years since...a month afterwards poor Grisha was drowned...too much for my mamma; she ran away, ran away without looking back says Anya on page 6. Ranevsky s poor nurturing habits led to Grisha s death because she wasn t watching him like a mother should. His death was the excuse that Ranevsky used to leave for Paris for the next five years. Leaving the orchard to accumulate a large debt that she must pay off when she returns, or lose the orchard. Madame Ranevsky neglects that she is poor and gives out money, which increases her debt. She was born an aristocrat and doesn t understand the meaning of how money was earned. Her brother, on page 13, describes it as scattering the money . But yet he makes no attempt to stop her spending. Anya says, She s already sold her villa near Mentone; she s nothing left...mother s got a footman now, Yasha; we ve brought him here. (Chekhov 5). This quote gives us insight on how malicious her spending habits are. She hires unnecessary help that she can t afford. She herself says, I had a lot of money yesterday...I go squandering aimlessly. • 4. Nalyzing The Concept Of Palliative Care Essay nalyzing the concept of Palliative care Mauricio A. Barrera Appalachian State University School of Nursing 2 Throughout life and individual can experience a myriad of unexpected developments can which can have a dramatic effect on their lifestyle and how they are able to communicate with others. Comorbidities are the multiple appearances of a serious chronic disease like cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, or diabetes, which have a negative effect on the patient s way of life ( Comorbidities , 2016). In these situations, Health Care providers can recommend palliative care, a specialized form of medicine that works alongside the patient with a team of health care professionals and social workers, to individualize a care plan toward realistic expectation and agreed upon the goals of increasing the patient s quality of life, relieving pain, and minimizing their disease symptom level ( What is palliative care?, n.d.). While palliative care can sometimes be mistaken as being synonymous with hospice, the difference between the two is that hospice care relegates patients for whom are actively dying therapeutic treatment and focus on relieving only the patient s pain and symptoms until their eventual death. The goal of the treatment plan is to work toward managing the patient s pain and symptoms to an attainable and desired level for a patient when curative treatment is not possible or for patients who are terminally ill but who ... • 5. Theories Of Gender Socialization GENDER ROLE SOCIALIZATION Social learning and Gender schema has been two theories that have been rambling the minds of many. One thought that runs through my mind is how do children develop their roles of identities? Many say that the reason why a girl acts like a girl and boy acts like a boy is because the punishment that they have received for doing certain things, as well as the rewards that have been given to them as they do good. This theory states that children learn their gender roles by receiving rewards or punishments, and throughput observations and imitation (Zoe Jackson 2014). If a little boy walks into a toy store and picks out a barbie doll that first reaction that a parent might give is a loud no , this might trigger the mind of the little boy and he will come to a realization that what he has done was not a good thing. Rather if it is a little girl that did well in school her reward might be a doll. A little boy might get punished for liking or even playing with something that ... I grew up with an older sister so at times I did get curious of what she might have that I did not, but my father s words always haunted me. • 7. Analysis Of Emily Dickinson s Poetry Emily Dickinson is perhaps one of the most intriguing American poets studied. The remote look in her eyes mirror her life, which she mostly spent secluded in her home in Amherst, Massachusetts. While leading an outwardly reclusive life, she unleashes the faculties of her mind in her powerful poetry. She addresses compelling themes such as death, depression, human despair, individual capability, and the art of poetry. Her feelings on these subjects emerge in her poems, but her exact thoughts are difficult to uncover since her poetry is so highly enigmatic. Likewise, the subject matter of Christianity in her poetry remains one of the most inconsistent of Dickinson s recurring themes. Emily Dickinsonposses an uncanny ability to wrestle down the perfect diction, thus creating worlds of hope, despair, faith, and endless questioning.Through her use of imagery, Dickinson displays her linguistic prowess and the intricacies of language. I m Nobody! Who are you?, this poem opens with the declaration that the speaker is Nobody. this nobody ness, however, quickly comes to mean that she is outside of the public sphere; perhaps, here Dickinson is touching on her own failure to become a published poet, and the fact that to most of society, she is Nobody. The speaker does not seem bitter about this instead she asks the reader, playfully almost, Who are you? (1), and offers us a chance to be in a sort of cahoots with her Are you Nobody Too? (2). • 11. Paper Proposal Eman Haggagi Philosophy 101 Paper Proposal Islam does not promote violence and terrorism I believe that there have been many misconceptions of Islam that are portrayed and plastered all over the news, media and even billboard for years now. Millions of Muslims living in the western world have found themselves under a lot of inspection by their societies. Charles Peirce a philosopher who is known for his methods for fixing belief proves a good point and idea in order for people to be more considerable of their thoughts and beliefs to reason correctly before judging the Islamic religion to be promoting violence. People instead of judging all people in Islam and any religion, should be thinking more maturely as to who is the evil doer, instead of taking their anger out on innocent people and the wellbeing in society to keep a unity in the world. However, another famous philosopher whom I disagree with who argues Peirce s methods of belief is David Hume. Hume believes that of which to avoid all problems, all religious belief should be rid of. The question whether Islam promotes violence and terrorism is a question that I believe is an answer many people don t understand the answer to and lack the knowledge of their own to make the distinction. In Philosophy the study of Epistemology uses logic to structure an argument and types of evidence you can use to support certain conclusions. What constitutes people s knowledge in Islam? There are vast arrays of different types of privilege, but one of the more prevalent ones seems to be male privilege. Quite a few of the literally works that have been covered in class have male privilege littered through them to an extent. Two of the most notable works that male privilege played a key role in were Jack London s The Sea Wolf and Julie Otsuka s The Buddha in the Attic. While both novels contain male privilege in them they both take pretty different approaches to the same idea. In The Sea Wolf, women are seen as frail and only fit for certain types of work, most of that work being rearing the children and taking care of the house. In The Buddha in the Attic, the story is very different. Women are expected to do everything that a man would do and much more. The setting of both novels start off in America at the turn of the century and the main characters are either from or had moved to the west coast. Culture is the major difference in how genderis perceived in these novels. The main and outstanding difference is that in The Sea Wolf the novel follows white culture and in The Buddha in the Attic the novel follows Japanese culture. The policies pursued by the Islamic Republic have, however, facilitated education, mobilization, and participation for many women within the context of the country (Gheissari 2009: 77). While the years following the Revolution served to restrict many women in some respects, the policies enacted since the Islamic Republic have provided avenues of empowerment for the most marginalized of women in Iran. The Iranian revolution mobilized the women who now use these policies to seek greater rights within the framework of a conservative Islamic society. The mobilization of women during the revolutionary process which gave rise to a newfound sense of female agency and the unintentional widespread empowerment of women through Islamization policies both contribute to the emergence of a contemporary women s movement in Iran. Talal Asad asserts that, Islam as the object of anthropological understanding should be approached as a discursive tradition that connects variously with the formation of moral selves, the manipulation of populations (or resistance to it), and the production of appropriate knowledges (Asad 1986: 7). George Berkeley and the External World Jack Bate George Berkeley and the external world In 1999, Larry and Andy Wachowski directed The Matrix, a movie featuring the future in which reality as perceived by most humans is actually a simulated reality or cyberspace called the Matrix . This fake reality was created by sentient machines to pacify and subdue the human population. To some, this movie represents just another brilliant Hollywood sci fi action film, but for others, it challenges the understanding of perspective, reality and appearance ( The matrix 101, 2003). The Matrix heavily relies on the concepts of Irish Philosopher George Berkeley who believed reality, or reality as humans perceive it, is fundamentally mental and therefore immaterial which is known as Idealism. ... Berkeley s attempt to popularize his pro mind conception of the external world, Three Dialogues between Hylas and Philonous, serves to undermine Locke s distinctions between primary and secondary qualities of the external world. In his publication, Berkeley uses dialogue between Hylas and Philnous, which consists of a series of arguments, to determine the most sound theory. Ground rules of the debate consists of: whoever of the two s position avoids skepticism about knowledge of physical objects wins and that if one position can be shown to entail that we cannot know anything about physical objects, consequently that position should be dismissed as absurd (Kelly, 2013). Throughout the arguments, Berkeley weakens Locke s theory of Limited Representationalism by counteracting Locke s with the possibility that instead of matter that comprises physical objects in the external world, these objects are simply ideas. Drawing back on Berkeley s catchy motto, to be is to be perceived , he proposes three arguments that support his idealist view that the motto encapsulates. The three pieces of support also importantly shed skepticism upon Lockes primary and secondary distinctions involving matter . The three statements of support include: The argument that physical ... • 21. A Study On Capital Structure Theory Essay Literature Review Capital structure theory has long been a controversial issue in the finance literature. The two Novel laureates, Franco Modigliani and Metron Miller (here after called M M) were the first to present a formal model in 1958 on valuation of capital structure in corporate finance theory and is still the cornerstone of modern corporate finance. MM were the first to take a sharp look at the relationship between Capital Structure and the cost of capital. In their seminal papers (1958, 1963), they states some propositions. In proposition I they postulated that debt has no value for firms in a tax free world. In a no tax scenario the investors can offset the debt by replicating its financial actions. This proposition got the name MM theory of irrelevance . Though their proposition theoretically sounds good but it is only valid under perfect market conditions (no tax is one of them) which were not actually possible in real world. They corrected this proposition in 1963 incorporating the effect of tax on value and cost of the capital of the firm (Modigliani and Miller 1963). Their new proposition II contends that, in the world of corporate tax, the value of the firm depends on the variation of the debt level and tax shield benefit on interest payments. When corporate taxes are taken into consideration, the value of a firm increases linearly with debt equity ratio because of interest payments being tax exempted. King Nabopolassar had defeated the Assyrians with the help of the Medes and liberated Babylonia from Assyrian rule. In this way he provided for his son (as Philip II would do for his son Alexander later) a stable base and ample wealth on which to build an opportunity for greatness which Nebuchadnezzar took full advantage of. Nebuchadnezzar II defeated the Egyptians and their allies the Assyrians at Carchemish, subdued Palestine and the region of Syria and, consolidating his power, controlled all the trade routes across Mesopotamia from the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean Sea. Remaining true to the vision of his inaugural address, the great king spent the tolls he collected and the taxes he gathered in creating a city which, he hoped, would be recognized as a wonder of the world (and, indeed, his hopes were realized in later writers adding the walls of Babylonand, in particular, the Ishtar gate to the list of the Seven Wonders of the World). In the forty three years of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar II made the most of the time employing a vast army of slave labor to surround his city with walls so thick that chariot races were conducted around the tops and which stretched fifty six miles in length, encircling an area of two hundred square miles. ... In my own opinion, there are three aspects of cross cultural communicationbarriers: they are language, behavior and emotion. Firstly, language is always an serious barrier to people in the whole world. People who speak the same language also have misunderstandings commonly, so there is no doubt that people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds have communication barriers. Sometimes, words that from mispronunciations can lead to misunderstandings of meanings. In this situation, people can not communicate with each other effectively, and people who are in this conversation may feel uncomfortable with the unhappy ending of the talk. People look at the world through language, which includes emotions and concepts. • 30. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and contradiction. Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups as feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some areas of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or theory but instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and contradiction. They tend to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes supports a status quo of some people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a disadvantage. They believe due to this inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve the system. Indeterminacy appears to be able to be split up into several smaller critical categories and it is this critique which shall be dealt with first. 1.Indeterminacy In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that are contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases that come before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on the idea known as legal reasoning. Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of abstract categories with no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, there are evidences prove that market are not efficient for instance financial crisis, stock marketbubble, and some investor can earn abnormal return which happening regularly in stockmarkets all over the world. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to demonstrate that Efficient Market Hypothesis in stock (capital) markets does not exist in the real world by proofing four outstanding unrealistic conditions that make market efficient: information is widely available and cost free, investor are rational, independent and unbiased, There is no liquidity problem in stock market, and finally stock prices has no pattern. Efficient capital market It was generally believed that securities markets were extremely efficient in reflecting information about the stock market as a whole (Fama 1970). • 42. Hillbilly Elegy Summary In the fifth reading assignment of Hillbilly Elegy, the chapters highlight J.D s time in high school, the Marines, and college. The start of chapter seven dealt with the death of Papaw. I think this death took a toll on J.D largely because Papaw was the closest thing to a stable father figure he had. I love the relationship that Papaw and J.D had, and I m sure it was one that J.D cherishes to this day. Reading about Papaw s funeral was especially tough for me because I have been exactly where J.D was in that moment. My grandfather passed away in the summer of 2015, and I also spoke at his funeral. I was extremely close with my Grandpa, or Papa as I called him, and reading about J.D s experience brought up some tough feelings for me. I noticed that J.D s mother took the loss of her father extremely had. She was thrown into a prescription drug induced tailspin. This is yet another example of the loss of a loved one completely derailing the life of one of their loved ones. Her story reminded me of Scott from Evicted. This also made me feel for J.D, he had just lost his beloved grandfather, and now he had to worry about his mother struggling with her addiction. Later in the chapter, I was happy to read that Lindsay had a great life going for her. She is one of my favorite characters in this book, and I was joyed to read that she had found a great husband. I also thought it was completely selfish for J.D s mother to ask him to move to Dayton with her newest boyfriend. I was also sickened to read that J.D s mother sent him to a therapist just so she could interrogate him about how he acted towards his mother. I think if J.D saw an actual therapist, he could have really benefited from it. I also really respected that Lindsay dropped everything she was doing to go pick up J.D from Dayton. I think this really speaks to their relationship, and how much she cares for her brother. I was also stunned to read that J.D s mother agreed to marry a man she had only known for one week. I knew that she had relationship issues, but this still shocked me. I think J.D eventually became numb to the amount of partners his mother brought home. The story of J.D s mother begging for his clean urine was extremely sad to me. I think ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Herzog creates a sequence of scenes, comments, and interviews from people who is well connected directly or indirectly with Treadwell. • 45. Summary Of The Lost Letters Of Pergamum Longenecker s The Lost Letters of Pergamum encapsulates the socio historical, cultural, and political atmosphere of the first century setting in which Mark s Gospel would have been experienced. Understanding Jesus in context of this background alters the way I understand the Gospel of Mark. Specific passages in Mark can be reflected upon based on the socio historical, cultural, and political aspects of the setting described in Longenecker s book. In The Lost Letters of Pergamum, readers see Euphemos and Antipas admonishing Luke against associating himself with Christians for they worship and follow a different lord than the emperor as well as endorse an empire other than Rome. In the time following the destruction of the temple, the people attributed their wealth, social status, and success to having favor with the gods. In fact, Antipas goes as so far as to say the gods made the Roman empire eternal and sovereign. Antipas attributes his rise in social status to the gods. Jesus, on the other hand, does not look at riches that way. When a rich man fell at the feet of Jesus asking how to inherit eternal life, Jesus instructed the man to sell what he has, give to the poor, and follow Him (Matthew 10:17 31). This goes against the aforementioned social belief throughout the history of Rome. This means that riches are not in fact a sign of favor from the gods. Additionally, in Mark 13, Jesus speaks of the destruction of the temple. When Antipas read this section, he realized that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is important to treat those of different ethnicities, races and cultures the same as you would treat anyone else, including yourself. Ethnicity is defined as a cultural heritage or characteristics shared by a group, such as history, homeland, language, traditions or religion (Woolfolk Margetts, Educational Psychology, 2016). There are a couple distinct traits that make up the Anglo Saxon hero. The first one is Loyalty. Anglo Saxons were immensely loyal. In the poem the author writes, Beowulf arose, with his men around him, ordering a few to remain with their weapons (47 ). This quote signifies that Beowulf had men that were loyal to him. I initially wanted to research overpopulation because I was deeply concerned with its implications. I wanted to understand the causes of population growth and to learn what might be done to ameliorate the problem. Soon into the research, however, I happened upon pieces of literature opposing the idea of an overpopulation crisis and immediately respected certain aspects of their arguments. Quickly, I was forced to change the scope of my question from what will be the consequences of overpopulation? to what exactly does overpopulation mean? and does an overpopulation problem even exist? . History of Population Crises The seed of my doubt that an overpopulation crisis was imminent was planted when I began to examine the historical record of population concerns. As a history major, I have at least some respect for patterns in history. While I recognize that new things can emerge, often a current event is a variant on an earlier expressed theme.
