Summit 16: Applying Machine Learning to Intent-based Networking and Nfv Scali...OPNFV
The talk will highlight how Machine Learning techniques can be used to address different aspects of the operation and control of NFV and propose future OPNFV activities in this area. First, Diego will introduce how Machine Learning is being applied by the CogNet project to address intent-based networking, and discuss the architecture defined there as a potential framework for future ML integration. Glen will demonstrate a policy-based system for automating VNF scaling using performance data collection and analytics with machine learning (ML), based on OPNFV Brahmaputra and the underlying OpenStack telemetry system (Ceilometer), as well as the open-source Apache Kafka, Apache Zookeeper and Apache Spark streaming and MLlib libraries. Available as open-source, it combines predictive and reactive inputs to make the VNF scaling decision and trigger action in the MANO stack. The presentation will provide an overview of the system, demonstrate the VNF auto-scaling use case and discuss how this system will fit into a future OPNFV release.

Managing Talent Like a Business: How to Deliver Greater Value to Your Organiz...Human Capital Media
Talent Development Reporting principles (TDRp) is a ground-breaking, industry-led initiative to run talent like a business to deliver measurable, planned impact with greater effectiveness and efficiency. Historically, many workforce professionals have not had the background or experience to approach talent from a business perspective. Moreover, many CFOs and CEOs, unsure of what really can be expected from HR, have not demanded that it be held to the same management standards as other functions.
TDRp provides standard statements and reports as well as definitions for more than 600 measures, much like GAAP or IFRS does for accounting. TDRp, however, also provides guidance in how these reports and metrics should be used by talent leaders to manage the function like a business. The TDRp framework has been developed for all important workforce processes including learning and development, leadership development, talent acquisition, capability management, performance management and total rewards.
In this webinar, Dave Vance will share the TDRp framework and challenge you to think about the benefits of a more business-like approach to talent in your organization. We’ll talk about using TDRp to:
Show alignment of HR initiatives to your organization’s goals.
Better plan HR initiatives, especially with regard to expected impact and value.
Better execute HR initiatives.
Report results and show the value of your HR initiatives.
Bottom line, TDRp can help you become a more valued business partner making a significant contribution to the success of your organization.
Although learning is increasingly valued by executives as critical to success, L&D leaders often struggle to get resources, budget, and buy-in from the C-Suite and key managers for L&D initiatives.
Why is this? First, L&D’s biggest challenge is proving the value of learning in a language that makes sense to business executives. Second, learning competes with people’s day jobs and L&D leaders must convince managers to give their team time to learn.
In this webinar, you’ll walk away with:
- A step-by-step framework on how to sell learning to C-suite executives and managers at your organization
- Real-life examples from People and L&D leaders on how they successfully won over key stakeholders
- Lessons learned on how to overcome challenges and make the business case for learning

REACHING THE BLUE COLLAR WORKFORCE: HOW POLARIS DEVELOPS TALENT IN 2019Human Capital Media
Traditional L&D isn’t obsolete, but it has become outdated. That’s why we collected data from nearly 800 workers, managers, and leaders from around the globe to gain some insights into where L&D and talent leaders can be more effective. The survey says…..L&D is falling short for the modern workforce. In fact, our respondents gave their employers an overall Net Promoter Score of -25 on their learning and development strategies. But many business leaders know this already. What they don’t know is how to fix it. The good news is that employees still love learning and they’re looking for organizational guidance. By honing in on the data and insights that impact how people — and companies — learn, you can make smarter investments in your most valuable assets: the skills of your people. Lucky for you, this event also includes a quick case study from Booking.com on how they are making this data come to life in their organization.
Register for this webinar to learn:
The difference between learning and acquiring new skills
How to apply hard metrics to your L&D strategy
How to align your employees’ learning goals with those of your larger company
How Polaris is putting the insights from the research to work at their organization

This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.

In this deck, you will learn the significance of workplace discipline for organisational success. You’ll also learn
• Four (4) workplace discipline methods you should consider
• The best and most practical approach to implementing workplace discipline.
• Three (3) key tips to maintain a disciplined workplace.
Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.
