OpenNebulaConf2019 - How We Use GOCA to Manage our OpenNebula Cloud - Jean-Ph...OpenNebula Project
At Iguane Solutions, a lot of our "DevOps" tools are developed in Golang, and we have a good amount of experience in contributing to the Goca. I'll review just what contributions we make, as well as how we use Goca with different tools, on a daily basis, to manage and monitor our OpenNebula cloud.
I will delve into the concept of Infrastructure as Code - deployment of VM instances on cloud, as well as, also address the metrics collection of deployed VMs. Finally, I will present how we can abstract VM management with automation tools thanks to GOCA.

OpenDaylight is an exciting new community-led, open source project focused on accelerating adoption of software-defined networking (SDN) by providing a robust SDN platform on which the industry can build and innovate. An OpenDaylight controller provides flexible management of both physical and virtual networks. The open source nature of the project and its flexible network management capabilities make it an ideal SDN platform to integrate with Neutron.
In this session, OpenDaylight community members from Cisco, IBM, RedHat, and Ericsson will describe the OpenDaylight project goals and platform architecture, as well as the roadmap and progress to date. OpenDaylight brings together a number of virtual networking approaches, and we will discuss integration approaches with OpenStack Neutron that provide flexibility for OpenStack administrators and users. Details of our initial Neutron integration will also be demonstrated for attendees.
Attendees will leave this session with a greater understanding of what OpenDaylight is, and how it can integrate with OpenStack Neutron to provide a powerful SDN-based networking solution for OpenStack Clouds.
[WSO2Con EU 2018] Implementing a Zero Downtime WSO2 API Manager with an API C...WSO2
Like many other companies like it, NN Group is undertaking a digital transformation. APIs are the key enabler of this digital transformation. In 2017 they commenced the implementation of the API management solution using WSO2 software. They have engineered the WSO2 components in such a way to create an API Management infrastructure that is fully automated, both in provisioning, and operational management. WSO2 is now being used for managing external APIs. NN Group is now expanding its use to internal API management. This presentation focuses on the way they have engineered their external API management solution on the AWS cloud, how they implemented several CI/CD patterns to achieve zero down-time, and how they set up their API community.

Securing the Software Supply Chain has become a focus of cybersecurity efforts the world over. One aspect of this is with the generation and verification of a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM). But what is an SBOM and how would you go about setting this up for your cloud native container/applications/pipeline?
The Flux team recently published a blog on this very topic and how they’ve gone about implementing these measures. During this session, Dan Luhring, OSS Engineering Manager at Anchore, will dive into SBOMs - what they are, why you need them, some common use cases and how to get your pipeline ready for SBOM generation and verification using the Flux SBOM as an example.

This was a presentation I gave at the Open Networking Users Group (ONUG), Spring 2014. This talk covers some background on OpenStack and OpenDaylight, walks through Group Based Policy and OpFlex, and ends with a tutorial walk through of installing and using OpenStack with OpenDaylight.
Opendaylight is a project which promotes the Software Defined Networking.
Officially started on April -8th-2013.
The linux foundation planned an pivotal role in it, but it’s a consortium and multiple tech companies are partnered to led the SDN.
Its based on Eclipse Public License – v 1.0 (EPL).
------------------
Software defined networking is a research area which let a network to program, It also output network control applications, and those applications are to control the network
Example :
A network formed by the openflow enabled switch.
Controller Platform provides the OPEN APIs to program the network.
Controller Applications control the network based on the needs

This talk will conclude with a step-by-step demonstration of SFC configuration and operation using the GUI and REST interfaces.
Introduction to YANG data models and their use in OpenDaylight: an overviewCisco DevNet
A session in the DevNet Zone at Cisco Live, Berlin. YANG is a data modeling language defining device and service configuration and operations. This session will describe what YANG is (with examples), and its relationship to and how it is used in OpenDaylight. Several tools making it easier for the application developer to work with YANG will be discussed. It will conclude with a demonstration of YANGUI and YANG Visualizer, two new OpenDaylight applications that auto-generate a user interface and directed graph respectively, both based on selected YANG models.
This presentation covers the basics about OpenvSwitch and its components. OpenvSwitch is a Open Source implementation of OpenFlow by the Nicira team.
It also also talks about OpenvSwitch and its role in OpenStack Networking
this slide is created for understand open vswitch more easily.
so I tried to make it practical. if you just follow up this scenario, then you will get some knowledge about OVS.
In this document, I mainly use only two command "ip" and "ovs-vsctl" to show you the ability of these commands.
During the past few years open source has transformed the tech industry. According to Gartner's survey 85% of companies currently use open source software. In this presentation we will examine what open source is? What are the pros and cons for software developers? How big is the market? How can one make money developing an open source product and which business models companies use? If it doesn’t work – is it possible to witch from and to OS?
This presentation was created in Aug 2013.
This slide is prepared as a course work for E-Business Management undergraduate course at Yıldız Technical University, Industrial Engineering department.
When we presented this subject we talked about relation between business and open source. For instance, some corporations has changed their models being from product provider to service provider. So this means a change in financial approaches.
"Open source movement is strongly supported from open source software users and developers, according to their groups' agendas and discourses."

This webinar explains why PISA chips are inevitable, provides overview of machine architecture of such switches, presents a brief primer on the P4 language with sample programs for a variety of networks and demonstrates a powerful network diagnostics application implemented in P4.
Programmability in SDNs is confined to the network control plane. The forwarding plane is still largely dictated by fixed-function switching chips. Our goal is to change that, and to allow programmers to define how packets are to be processed all the way down to the wire.
This is made possible by a new generation of high-performance forwarding chips. At the high-end, PISA (Protocol-Independent Switch Architecture) chips promise multi-Tb/s of packet processing. At the mid- and low-end of the performance spectrum, CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and NPUs already offer great flexibility with performance of a few tens to hundreds of Gb/s.
In addition to programmable forwarding chips, we also need a high-level language to dictate the forwarding behavior in a target independent fashion. "P4" (www.p4.org) is such a language. In P4, the programer declares how packets are to be processed, and a compiler generates a configuration for a PISA chip, or a programmable target in general. For example, the programmer might program the switch to be a top-of-rack switch, a firewall, or a load-balancer; and might add features to run automatic diagnostics and novel congestion control algorithms.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Generating a custom Ruby SDK for your web service or Rails API using Smithyg2nightmarescribd
Have you ever wanted a Ruby client API to communicate with your web service? Smithy is a protocol-agnostic language for defining services and SDKs. Smithy Ruby is an implementation of Smithy that generates a Ruby SDK using a Smithy model. In this talk, we will explore Smithy and Smithy Ruby to learn how to generate custom feature-rich SDKs that can communicate with any web service, such as a Rails JSON API.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
