In 2017 they commenced the implementation of the API management solution using WSO2 software. They have engineered the WSO2 components in such a way to create an API Management infrastructure that is fully automated, both in provisioning, and operational management. WSO2 is now being used for managing external APIs. NN Group is now expanding its use to internal API management. This presentation focuses on the way they have engineered their external API management solution on the AWS cloud, how they implemented several CI/CD patterns to achieve zero down-time, and how they set up their API community.

In the iMinds IoT strategic research program we do long-term research centered around the Internet of Things ranging from cognitive radio, wireless connectivity, security and distributed intelligence. Within our research, we heavily use and benefit from OSGi. In this talk, we will present and demo our work on smart things, illustrating how we adopt OSGi and the various specifications. We will highlight the latest and greatest OSGi features (i.e. from OSGi enRoute), and point out some new challenges to be tackled in the upcoming IoT expert group.
WP8 - Pilot – Testbed
This document describes plans to integrate an AGILE IoT gateway into the IoT-LAB testbed. The IoT-LAB testbed currently provides remote access to over 2700 IoT devices for experimentation. The plans aim to connect AGILE gateways indirectly to these devices through the Open A8 nodes in the testbed. This would allow users to access AGILE interfaces and interfaces connected to the IoT devices through an SSH tunnel. Several approaches are discussed for integrating the AGILE gateway including adding new devices or modifying existing nodes to function as gateways. Key requirements, open issues, and next steps are also outlined.

The IoT Expert Group is the newest Expert Group in the OSGi Alliance, but what exactly is an Expert Group, and what does it do? What does that mean for OSGi as an IoT platform?</p>
This talk from the chair of the IoT Expert Group will cover the progress of the IoT Expert Group since its creation in July, what outputs we can expect to see in the future, and also information about how you can get involved with the Expert Group.
The OSGi service platform has existed as a modular micro-service runtime for well over a decade, and it was originally created to run on small embedded systems in the home. It turns out that the same model works very well on servers and in the cloud, making OSGi the perfect platform for end-to-end IoT development.
In the last twelve months the OSGi Alliance have been on an IoT requirements gathering mission, the result of which has been the new IoT Expert Group. Fresh from their first official meeting in Turin the IoT Expert Group is now ready to start the process of building new standards within the Alliance. If you're interested in getting involved, or just curious about what's going on, then come along to find out more.

Docker provides an easy-to-use packaging model to bundle the application. However in many cases, a single container is not enough to run an application. Kubernetes is an open source system for automating deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications. It groups containers that make up an application into logical units for easy management and discovery. Neptune powstał jako wewnętrzne narzędzie dla zespołu Machine Learning w deepsense.io. Bezpośrednią motywacją do prac nad nim były wyzwania, przed jakimi stawały nasze zespoły w konkursach Kaggle. Porównywanie modeli, wersjonowanie kodu oraz monitorowanie procesu trenowania modeli mocno spowalniały prace. Dodatkowo podczas rozmów z zespołami z innych firm okazało się, że im także brakuje narzędzia, które usprawniałoby ich codzienną pracę. Te zdarzenia zaowocowały napisaniem Neptune.
Wizualne budowanie aplikacji na Sparku przy pomocy narzędzia Seahorse
Seahorse powstał aby ułatwić i przyspieszyć budowanie aplikacji Sparkowych. Graficzny interfejs oparty na konfigurowaniu i łączeniu gotowych komponentów stanowi alternatywę dla pisania kodu w Scali. Podczas prezentacji słuchacze poznają funkcjonalności i ograniczenia Seahorse’a, zobaczą go w działaniu podczas live-demo oraz dowiedzą się jakie są kierunku dalszego rozwoju narzędzia i jak mogą stać się użytkownikami.

Ability to create new microservices and APIs? Support for sync and async protocols? Analytics? Metering, monitoring, policy enforcement? What else? Are we done? Or will we need to rebuild the platform again on serverless functions?

SwellRT: Awakening Decentralized Collaboration
The Web 2.0 model, which has become mainstream in current online software platforms, has enabled user-driven participation and collaboration. However, it has also facilitated the emergence of central hubs of information which collect massive amounts of user data, with its multiple negative impacts such as privacy issues, monopolies, surveillance or single legislation. These issues have triggered the emergence of a new wave of decentralized technologies, in both P2P systems (e.g. blockchain, ipfs) and federated systems (e.g. Matrix). And yet, building decentralized software is hard. Development frameworks are built thinking in centralized apps, moreover when thinking of collaborative apps. SwellRT (http://swellrt.org) is a development framework for building decentralized real-time collaborative apps, easily and avoiding extra code to the developer. SwellRT provides a server side (storage, sharing, identity, federation) and an API to build apps in JavaScript, Java or Android. You may think of Google Drive Real-Time API or Firebase but decentralized & open source.

Abstract:
HGI has defined a new project, under Apache 2.0 open source licensing, to create a framework and set of examples describing SmartHome appliance functionality (control and read-out of devices) using XML and with XSD to ensure proper conformance. Individuals/companies/fora are invited to comment and contribute.
The goal of the project is to have a basis for technologies such as OSGi to provide appliance interface APIs to software application developers, independent of the home area network technology (ZigBee, EnOcean, Z-Wave, EchonetLite etc). Use of the SmartHome Device Templates (SDTs) is proposed as part of the extended API for the OSGi Device Abstraction Layer (DAL, RFC196), an element within SmartHome gateway implementations. The SDT is explicitly aimed to be applicable within multiple execution environments however.
HGI has long been in discussions with OSGi Alliance, Broadband Forum, oneM2M, EnOcean Alliance, EchonetLite Consortium and other bodies regarding the necessity of SDTs to enable a mass market in Smart Home services. HGI also is in close collaboration with the European Commission’s "Smart Appliances" project, which complements the new HGI project.
HGI plans to later hold a proof of concept event that allows HGI companies to integrate and demonstrate their SDT and DAL technologies (applications, abstraction layer, device drivers, end devices, possibly cloud platforms).
The 25-minute presentation will cover the above points, reference a number of relevant projects with similar goals, outline the initial approach of HGI, and invite comments. A close collaboration with OSGi activities on DAL and API design is crucial for a successful application of the SDT to the OSGi framework.
Speaker Bio:
Andreas Kraft studied Computer Science at the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Since 2000 he works for Deutsche Telekom AG as a Senior Systems Architect in the field of Connected Home Services. His current activities include strategies for and design of OSGi based service architectures for connected homes and Ambient Assisted Living. Before that he was involved in the design and development of platforms for remote access and control of devices and services in residential homes. Andreas Kraft also represents Deutsche Telekom in standardization groups, such as VDE/DKE, ISO/IEC, CENELEC, and the UPnP Forum.
His current involvements with the OSGi Alliance include co-chairing the Residential Expert Group as well as to be a board member of the OSGi Users.

iExec allows for scalable, efficient, and virtualized off-chain execution of arbitrary applications. It provides a global marketplace and uses Ethereum to advertise and provision cloud computing resources like servers, applications, and datasets from various providers in a decentralized peer-to-peer manner without a central authority. iExec's RLC token is used to access this decentralized cloud and incentivizes providers who are paid in RLC for their resources. The iExec software development kit allows decentralized applications to access these distributed cloud computing resources for off-chain computation and data needs.
DEEP: a user success story
Valentin Kozlov from KIT-SCC demonstrates how developers can integrate their applications with DEEP components. DEEP is an EU-funded project that provides e-infrastructure for intensive data processing. Developers can run modules locally or on DEEP testbeds using Docker. More advanced users can use a data science template for version control and CI/CD pipelines. The presentation shows examples of plant classification and image recognition applications developed with DEEP.

Bram Verhoef, Head of Machine Learning at Axelera AI, presents the “How Axelera AI Uses Digital Compute-in-memory to Deliver Fast and Energy-efficient Computer Vision” tutorial at the May 2024 Embedded Vision Summit.
As artificial intelligence inference transitions from cloud environments to edge locations, computer vision applications achieve heightened responsiveness, reliability and privacy. This migration, however, introduces the challenge of operating within the stringent confines of resource constraints typical at the edge, including small form factors, low energy budgets and diminished memory and computational capacities. Axelera AI addresses these challenges through an innovative approach of performing digital computations within memory itself. This technique facilitates the realization of high-performance, energy-efficient and cost-effective computer vision capabilities at the thin and thick edge, extending the frontier of what is achievable with current technologies.
In this presentation, Verhoef unveils his company’s pioneering chip technology and demonstrates its capacity to deliver exceptional frames-per-second performance across a range of standard computer vision networks typical of applications in security, surveillance and the industrial sector. This shows that advanced computer vision can be accessible and efficient, even at the very edge of our technological ecosystem.Mutation Testing for Task-Oriented Chatbots
Conversational agents, or chatbots, are increasingly used to access all sorts of services using natural language. While open-domain chatbots - like ChatGPT - can converse on any topic, task-oriented chatbots - the focus of this paper - are designed for specific tasks, like booking a flight, obtaining customer support, or setting an appointment. Like any other software, task-oriented chatbots need to be properly tested, usually by defining and executing test scenarios (i.e., sequences of user-chatbot interactions). However, there is currently a lack of methods to quantify the completeness and strength of such test scenarios, which can lead to low-quality tests, and hence to buggy chatbots.
To fill this gap, we propose adapting mutation testing (MuT) for task-oriented chatbots. To this end, we introduce a set of mutation operators that emulate faults in chatbot designs, an architecture that enables MuT on chatbots built using heterogeneous technologies, and a practical realisation as an Eclipse plugin. Moreover, we evaluate the applicability, effectiveness and efficiency of our approach on open-source chatbots, with promising results.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Digital Banking in the Cloud: How Citizens Bank Unlocked Their Mainframe
Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
