Paths Of Glory Film Analysis
PATHS OF GLORY AND BLACK HAWK DOWN FILMS Below is a comparative
essay about, paths of glory and the black Hawks down. paths of glory is a film that
begins in a large country house in France where Genaral Mireau and General
Brouland were discussing about the possibility of an attack on the Ant hill. Mireau
was pacing around the room while talking. General Mireau of the World War 1
French army accepts a mission for his men that he knows they cannot achieve
anything but he taught that might lead him to his promotions. Although he accepts
this impossible assignment to get promoted, he tries to speak about how his men s
lives are the most important to him, his future actions revealed to be empty
persuaded. Mireau passes his their objectives on to Dax who is in charge of a large
group of men at the front. On the other hand, the black Hawks down is about the true
story based on the United States involving in Somalia during unhappy and concerned
with the mission over there. United States soldiers were sent to Somalia to help...

These soldiers never have freedom to speak or raise concerns because they were
afraid. For example, Mireau was so cruel, when he asked the solders the questions
he never even stopped and wait for the response from them. Dax is the only one
who cares about the soldiers because their lives are getting cheated and he was
caring, compassionate and human than Mireau. In paths of glory, the soldiers
never killed any of their enemies rather most of them were killed. On the black
hawk down there was nothing the soldiers experienced like this being treated like
trash and their lives were cared for by the rescue team. Also the soldiers were kind,
caring for others and compassionate. They had to stop and help their fellow before

A Report On Southwest Airlines
operated. During this time, travel agent fees were going through the roof and
reserving an airline ticket was a complicated, drawn out process. To counter this,
Southwest implemented its own reservation system tailored to their own needs,
which also included the industry s first paperless ticketing system; but this wasn t the
end of IT innovation from Southwest Airlines. In 1995, Southwest.com was launched,
and the online ticketing and reservation system was launched in 1996. Soon
thereafter, Southwest Airlines ticket sales were primarily coming from their online
reservation system (70%). By the late 90 s, Southwest.com was the most visited
airlinewebsite [4]. By the start of the millennium, Southwest airlines had already
mastered another IT milestone which is still in use to this very day: allowing the
passenger to print their own boarding vouchers and allowing passengers to self check
in on their own computer even before arriving at the airport [4]! By implementing
these two features on the Southwest website, the airline was able to reduce the
number of customer service agents at check in counters and allowed customers to
spend minimal time waiting at an airport [2]. This increases both passenger and staff
efficiency, making the mundane task of waiting around at an airport virtually a thing
of the past.
Industry Analysis:Applying the Porter model to Southwest Airlines, we can see
airline that is surrounded by fierce competition and costs [4]. For intra industry
The Biology Building At The University Of North Florida
The Biology Building at the University of North Florida has a hidden gem nestled
away within it. In the middle of the structure is a small square semi enclosed
courtyard. Utilizing that courtyard, my favorite place on the whole campus, I will
conduct an autoethnography. In my autoethnography I will analyze what about the
courtyard I love so much and what those things convey about my relationship with
myself and others as well as my position within society. Autoethnographies combine
elements of both autobiographies and ethnographies. Specifically, autoethnographies
are academic essays that are introspective and narrative oriented looks at the self,
much like autobiographies and memoirs. However, autoethnographies are set apart
from autobiographies and journals in that they join that introspection with
ethnographic research methods concerned with connections between community and
the self. Due to their unique nature, ethnographies are beneficial in enhancing cultural
understanding of the connections between groups and individuals, as well as the self;
and have the potential ability to transform the self and others through the cross
cultural building of bonds and understanding (Chang 2007). Using public and
locations can be a helpful tool in self insight, as they encompass a specific discourse
(Thomas 1987). The authors reactions to that discourse as well as their identity
within the discourse In my own autoethnography, I will examine my own reactions to
the courtyard in the
My Sleep Disturbed By The Deep Bone
Frequently, I awake very stiff and have aches in my lower left body. Most nights,
especially those after a workday, I spend the night in and out of sleep. My sleep
disturbed by the deep bone throb in my lower left leg as well as spasms in my left
hamstring.
After about 30 min, I begin to warm up very slowly, my lower left side still stiff and
sore. I massage my lower left leg to help ease the bone throb. I feel the pain of the
strain as if I will snap a muscle in my lower left back or left leg as I don socks and
shoes.
I always rely on a cane to walk, except when I lean way forward and wall/furniture
surf to the bathroom about once a night. The more I walk, the more intense I feel the
deep bone ache in my lower left back and my left ... Show more content on

My work shoes show the extra scuffs on top of the left toe box from the foot drag. I
typically lead with my left leg and hold the cane in my right hand to support my
lame lower left side. Even with the heavy use of my cane I cannot avoid pain.
For example, I lean on my cane so hard that the premium medical rubber handle and
many tips have worn out. I wear heavy duty palm padded motorcycle gloves on my
right hand to add power and overcome my lame lower left side. My whole right side
has musculature compared to my lower left side from compensating for my left side
s atrophy and weakness.
The pressure of walking, even cane assisted, causes extreme tenderness from the
onset. When I walk about 100 feet, the stabbing pain in my lower left back and
sometimes the shock in my left leg, debilitate me to the point where I must sit down,
even though sitting violates workplace policy. Sometimes when I walk, my left hip
pains me as if the hip will slip out of joint. When this occurs, I will freeze in place to
calm down the painful movement and not incur more painful damage in my hip.
For example, my back, hip and leg pain cause me to have very prominent limp with
an outward swing of my bad left leg.
When I stand still, I feel somewhat relieved from walking, but the nagging bone
pain in my lower left back remains. But when I stand and sometimes when I sit, I
feel different pain, like there are no supports in my left lower
Barnes And Noble Case Study Solution
Barnes Noble was originally founded as a book printing company in 1873 in
Wheaton, Illinois. In 1917, the company opened its first bookstore in New York
City. However, in 1974, the company fell on hard times and was bought by
Leonard Riggio. Barnes Noble eventually become the largest bookstore by 1996,
offering discounted books. By the late 1990s, Barnes Noble was faced with a new
challenge, the Internet; customers were able to order their books cheaper online
and read them without going to a physical bookstore. This forced Barnes Noble to
reevaluate its strategy and its future direction in order to stay competitive in the
bookstore industry. Barnes Noble narrowed its problems down into two major
issues. The first issue was whether or not the company should split its two business
lines, having one line for digital and online business and the other serve as the
more traditional brick and mortar stores. The company also needed to determine
the best way to allocate its resources so that it could compete aggressively in the
market. The second issue facing the company was whether it was well suited to
make these necessary changes independently or if it would need some allies in
order to achieve success. Because Barnes Noble was strictly a publisher and retailer,
the company didn t have the knowledge or experience to independently build an e
reader for the online market that could compete effectively; it needed to partner with
another company that could build a
Walking Team Lab
Walking Team Lab Questions
1.Describe the shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion. (1) The
shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion is linear, meaning with a
straight line and a constant slope. Since, uniform motion means that the speed is
constant and the object is moving in the same direction, the graph will have linear
data and its constant slope can be represented with a line of best fit. In other words,
the speed and the direction of the object remain the same for all of the motion that
the object does, which determines the shape of a graph with an object moving
uniformly. The results of uniform motion are represented by a line of best fit on this
graph as the motion is in a straight line and the line ... Show more content on

In our lab, as time passed by the walker walked at a constant speed and in the same
direction (uniformly) for 30m. The uniform motion in this lab gave us the outcome
of a linear shape on graph with a line of best fit which is increasing from left to right
as its moving away from the origin and a constant slope that remains consistent in
direction.
2.How is the speed of an object related to the shape of the graph? (1) The speed of
an object is related to the shape of a graph because depending on whether the speed
varies during the motion or remains constant, the graph s shape will be affected. If
the speed of the graph remains the same (uniform) the shape of the graph will be
linear. If the speed of the object varies (non uniform), the graph will have variations
in the data for the position which depends on the slowing down and speeding up of
the object, leaving us with the outcome of a curve of best fit or a parabola shape. The
graph will be in the form of a non linear shape. The speed of an object s motion on
the graph represents the slope of the graph. A linear graph with straight
The Unwritten Rules Of Woman In The 19th Century
As human beings in society people are pressured by the community to conform to
different stereotypes. In the modern era people are still pushed to act a certain way
based on gender. As a woman in the nineteenth century it was almost impossible to
have a job or have a voice without being persecuted by your community. The author
takes her experiences with stereotyping, social conventions and the consequences of
defying them and argues how these unwritten rules of society have made people do
senseless things to avoid the consequences and backlash by the community.
A convention that society has made a tradition is marriage. In society, if a man leaves
his wife for another woman he would have made a certain name for himself and
possibly be looked
Jonestown Massacre
Every human in this world is promised to something from love to a better country.
Promises are to be true to happen, but sometimes those promises are broken and
never to happen. An example of a broken promised, which was made by a leader of a
socialist group, Jim Jones. People joined a socialist group called People s Temple,
who were promised by Jones to move to Jonestown a place that he created for the
people that Jim Jones authorized. Jonestown is located on a little island in Guyana.
Jim Jones decided to move his socialist group over there so they can be isolated
from the authorities. For the reason that he was committing fraud with money. Jim
Jones was saying that People s Temple was a Christian group instead of a socialist
group, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Layton explains, There were guards, just teenagers, marching around with guns
(Layton 164). Jonestown was continually attacked and Jim Jones would call those
attacks White Nights. As, Layton tells what Jim Jones would say about White
Nights, They [CIA] want to invade and kill us. Father says that they ll try again,
too. We ve had several attacks. Father calls them White Nights since it is white
men who are trying to ruin our project here (Layton 160). Jonestown people got to
actually live horrible attacks when they were in Guyana then when they were in
the city. As said, Jim Jones wanted to move to Guyana because it is a small island
isolated from every harm that there is, yet they moved to where the harm was
occurring at the moment. As Jim Jones promised to his people that wanted to stop
all the violence. An example was when Jones was trying to recruit people to the
Promise Land, Help me eradicated injustice from all our lives...Be a part of a
fellowship that will work to rid our society of hatred, racism, and poverty...Through
my ministry you can help make history. As a group, we can wipe out racism and
immorality throughout America (Layton 36). In the other hand, Martin Luther
King Jr. dream was that he wanted to stop the violence that was going around the
world due to racism. King Jr. explains, We can never be satisfied as long as the
Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality (King Jr., Middle).
People were being attacked just by their skin color, which was unfair. At the end,
Jones did little to make his promises come true; as he was the one who caused all the
violence in
The Constitutionality of Prayer in Public Schools Essay
Many people agree against prayer in public schools, while others think that people
should be able to express their religion in their own ways. In public schools, they
are not allowed to hold prayers at all during the school day due to the mixed
religion students that are attending the school. Over the past few years, this has
become an extremely controversial issue in our nation. Many people find it proper
to pray in school but many people also agree that it is extremely wrong and that if
there is going to be pray in school, every religionshould be addressed. The
government cannot make a law about having a certain religion banned or allowed in
a school setting. Children are allowed to pray on their own time as long as it does not

One major reason why prayer is not allowed in public schools is because people may
find it offensive to them if they do not belong to they religion that the prayer is
being said in. This has been an ongoing argument for many decades and it has not
come to a conclusion yet. Everyone has their own beliefs and usually they do not
affect others unless they are directed towards someone of another religion. If
prayer is going to be formally present in public schools, that school should say a
prayer in every religion. They could do this by having someone of each religion in
that school come up with a new prayer each day. Another thing they could do is
have a special prayer for each religion present whether it s a Catholic, Jewish,
Islamic, or even Buddhist prayer. If you want your child to pray and learn a
religion in school, send them to a private school that follows a certain religion and
that have certain religious beliefs. A major reason why I m against prayer in public
schools is because the public school system is created for all students and is paid
for by tax payers and fellow citizens. I think that the public schooling system should
remain neutral on religions issues die to the diversity of our students, tax payers, and
our fellow citizens. A public school is set up so that anyone on any religion or race
can obtain an education. There
Hein-Rich Spencer s Greatest Invention
Are mistakes key to discoveries yes, because always in human history great
inventions have always been discovered by accident. For example, one day a man
named Percy spencer had helped change our kitchens forever when he brought a
piece of chocolate into a factory and dropped it onto the floor, and after it melted he
had discovered how to make an inventionthat would change the world and help
make cooking easier therefore he had made a company that would help him make
a device that would mimic the effects of the chocolate bar against the factory floor,
but only after 20 years he had finally perfected the effects of the heat against the
chocolate bar on the factory floor and he called it the microwave. And it was the
most useful invention of its time. The man who was first to make a machine who
had helped to make communication easier for everyone and changed the world by

he had a partner who went by the name of frank Calvert who had helped him on his

have all the fame for the discoveries of the lower world and after frank found the

Gender Roles In Ancient Mediterranean
Gossiping during the Ancient Mediterranean was a form of social control, which
enforced social norms such as ethical sexual behaviors. Gossip is usually
established from witnessing an action that is considered a deviation from the
standard behaviors within a given society. Set restraints and values produce a power
dynamic and allow individuals to claim their subjecthood; this socially constructed
definition of subjecthood allows people to categorize themselves within the social
and political hierarchy in order to make sense of who they are, such as their
sexuality. The interdictions built and created an understanding of one s subjecthood
and were controlled by gossip. As a result, gossip defines what is acceptable within
that society, the creation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if a couple did not perform sexual intercourse in the manner that abided
the interdictions stated in the Talmud, there would be public and physical
consequences on their children. Why are there lame children? Because they [their
fathers] turned over the tables. Why are there dumb children? Because they talk
during intercourse. Why are there blind children? Because they look at that place
(Nedarim 20a b; Boyarin p. 110). In this interpretation of the text, the ministering
angels told R. Yohanan b. Dehabi that those who perform unconventional sexual
behavior will have children with birth defects. The deformed children became
public evidence that the couple did not follow the code of the Talmud and they
would have had to confront the gossip that circled around the community about
them and their children. This also deals with the issue of the panopticon, which is
the idea that God is the all seeing eye and is always watching you, even in the
married bed. This theory of surveillance functions as a social policing because it
shapes behaviors such as those in the marital bed and enforces the ideas in the
Essay on Aboriginal People in the Canadian Military
Throughout history, Aboriginals have been misunderstood and mistreated, despite
their contributions to the country. There were many native men who gave their lives
during the first World War and numerous native communities that did anything they
could to help the war effort in Canada. Aboriginals contributed in many ways to serve
their country during World War I.
At the beginning of World War I, the Canadian government was hesitant about
Aboriginals in the military. When the war broke in 1914, recruitment of Status
Indians was prohibited, as they were often connected to torture and scalping. Some
natives enlisted in face of the law, thanks to a commitment to their land. It wasn t

Impressively, 100% of adult Aboriginal men from the Mi kmaq reserve in Sydney,
Nova Scotia volunteered. The province of Ontario saw some of the highest native
enlistment numbers. Areas around Brantford (Six Nations) and Tyendinaga
(Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte) became the highest sources of Indian enlistment in
Canada (Lackenbauer, Moses, Scheffield and Gohier 123). Even with large quantities
of Aboriginal soldiers, there were no exclusively Aboriginal battalions. Several
battalions, nonetheless, consisted of great numbers of natives, including the 114th
Battalion, also known as Brock s Rangers and the 107th Battalion, also known as the
Timber Wolf Battalion. During the First World War, the voluntary service from
Aboriginal men was significantly larger than expected.
Aboriginals made very good snipers and scouts thanks to their hunting skills.
Stereotypically, native men have good eyes, patience and a sharp shot. When
combined with military level training, Aboriginals make exceptional snipers.
Francis Pegahmegabow, one of the most acclaimed snipers in the Great War, is
credited with 378 kills. He was also awarded the Military Medal and two bars for
his service. Another distinguished sniper was MГ©tis Henry Norwest. He was
credited with 115 kills and the Military Medal. Furthermore, at least 37 Aboriginal
men were honoured for bravery in the first world war.
After the First World War, Aboriginals
Chronic Kidney Disease In Dogs
Your dog s kidneys are responsible for eliminating toxic wastes and keeping the
correct balance of chemicals in the blood. Kidney disease in dogs occurs when the
organs are no longer able to function properly. This condition comes in two forms.
Forms This disease can be either acute or chronic. The acute version occurs
suddenly and sometimes causes irreparable damage. Dogs of any age are
susceptible to this condition. Chronic kidney disease is progressive, and develops
slowly over time. It usually affects older dogs. Causes Many things can cause
kidney disease in dogs. Ingestion of toxic substances such as antifreeze or rat poison
is a common reason. Medical conditions such as bacterial infections, fungal
infections, and heart disease also

Why I want to teach:
Children are far more likely to smile and laugh than grown ups. Their giggles and

In addition, a respect for authority may hamper a students ability to freely express
opinions or pursue change in their educational institution.
Progressivism, like essentialism, reveals merit in its name. Progressivism holds that
education should be an enriching process of ongoing growth . Teachers should
demonstrate that learning is an ongoing process of enrichment and enlightenment.
The idea of interdisciplinary study contributes to this. For example, a student who
excels at math may grow to appreciate chemistry for its mathematical component.
Or, a cooperative learning approach to a real world problem can allow students with
various intelligences to experience success while contributing their respective talents
to a group. Progressivism also seeks to teach different points of view, and this is
essential for students to appreciate other cultures. Furthermore, catering to the
different interests and experiences of students provides a broader, more enlightening
learning experience for all. Finally, the emphasis placed on problem solving and
using previous experience and knowledge can benefit all students and may be applied
to any subject.
Perennialism emphasizes a study of philosophy and a pursuit of knowledge simply
for the sake of learning. I agree with the perennialist ideal that students should be
taught to think critically, analytically, and
Gender Differences In America
In trying to understand gender differences in Health, Rieker and Bird looked at
several factors including Cardiovascular disease, Immune Functions and Disorders
as well as Depression. It is a well known fact that women live longer than men, but
having a long life comes with more pain and suffering and a bigger burden on our
healthcare system. Cardiovascular disease as discussed by the authors is one of the
leading causes of death among women in America. The article articulates the fact
that men are also affected by CVD, but die at a much younger age than women. In
other words, as women live longer, they are exposed to a lot more chronic life
threatening diseases. So, in reality, living longer is a bittersweet reality for women,
we live longer
The Hours Theme
Michael Cunningham s The Hours tells the story of three women, each from different
eras of society, yet connected through the internal conflicts which they face. Laura
Brown, one of the novel s three protagonists, lives the white middle class American
dream. However, throughout the novel her mental health begins to deteriorate due to
the oppressive lifestyle which she feels society has forced upon her. The Virginia
Woolfportrayed by Cunningham, was in fact historically accurate to the original
Virginia Woolf. Wolf struggled with mental illness throughout her lifetime and the
idea of breaking the mold of traditional women s roles. Unlike Laura Brown and
Virginia Woolf, Clarissa Vaughn enjoys all of the freedoms which the late twentieth
century allows, but is still left questioning if her life of a conventional wife and
mother is lacking something. Character, to some extent is determined by destiny,
however, when society places limitations on an individual s free will, it will always
create a desire to break away from the mold. Above all other characters in The Hours,
Laura Brown challenges her destiny like no other. The post war society of America
in the 1950s clearly defined the roles in which women were expected to fill. Unlike
most of the women which share her similar suburban lifestyle, Laura feels
dissatisfied with her life consisting of solely marriage and motherhood. Throughout
the course of the novel, Laura searches for an escape from this traditional way of
Julius Caesar Musical Analysis
1.In Act Two Scene One, the group of people who have decided to assassinate
Caesar meet up with Brutus to convince him to join their group, the conspiracy, one
more time. During this scene, I would play Wine Dark Sea (Symphony for Band): I.
Hubris, by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey). This movement of
the song is a great portrayal of the scene because Cassius, the leader of the conspiracy,
along with the rest of the conspirators are attempting to persuade Brutus, the
protagonist, to join them in the plot to kill Brutus best friend, Julius Caesar. The
aspects of the music differ greatly, magnificently portraying the energy of the
scene. The music has changes in dynamics, along with solos and solis, or groups
of performers playing as an ensemble, that act as the voices of the conspirators that
all jump in, agreeing with Cassius, to further persuade Brutus. This piece would
begin to play during the stage direction that states, Enter the conspirators:
CASSIUS, CASCA, DECIUS, CINNA, METELLUS, and TREBONIUS (2.1.87sd).
During the lines following this stage direction there are larger, one person said lines
followed by smaller lines that are vaguely announced by the other conspirators.
Similarly, in the movement, there are a few melodious sections played mainly by
one instrument group at a louder dynamic, followed by a counter melody played by
the entire band.
2.In Act Two Scene Two, a series of bad omens appear throughout the setting of the
play and even in Caesar s wife s dream. Calpurnia, Caesar s wife, has a horrible
dream showing her an image of her husband s statue with one hundred wounds
spewing blood as the people of Rome wash their hands in his blood (2.2.80 87). A
series of other bad omens occurred, including a lion walking in the capitol, an owl
out in the daytime, and the dead rising from their graves. During this scene, I would
play Foundry, performed by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey).
During this piece, the low and middle bass sections have the main foundational
rhythms while the upper woodwinds and brass have the main melody, and the
percussion section is beating on metal objects like they re in a factory. The overall
feeling of this piece is hectic, and loud;
Oscar Wilde Poetry Analysis
Analyzing a Poet: Oscar Wilde
Poems have a special meaning to the people who read them and the poet
themselves even Oscar Wilde, a poet, author and play writer. Oscar Wilde was born
on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and
William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and
German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but
out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde
because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it
was written I really loved.
At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would
make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He
was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German
like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is
inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat
was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from
1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek
literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen.
Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem
Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is
very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and
painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as
snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is
stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow
means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her
breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave
and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even
mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza
five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here,
Heap earth upon it.
Maintaining A System For Ease
Too often we become caught up in the doing of every day life and we forget that it
is meant to be enjoyed. Establishing a system for ease will help you to put the fun
back into your life. The following are five systems that are all geared towards
helping you live your life with a lot more energy and productivity on a daily basis.
1) Establish a system for efficiency. Your time is precious. Time is the only thing in
the world that all people have exactly the same amount of every day. How you
choose to spend your time is entirely up to you but wouldn t you prefer to spend it
on things that are meaningful to you, things that fill you with satisfaction, that add
value to your life, that make you feel fulfilled? If time were money, would you be
spending it on some of the things that you currently do every day or would you
invest it more wisely? The key to getting greater results from your time is effective
planning. When faced with a set of tasks most people will dive straight in and start
performing the most urgent tasks first, without any planning. Working like this
continually results in you becoming very busy and working very hard at chasing
your own tail. You can only keep this up for so long before you create dis ease in
your life. The key is to learn how to work smarter, not harder. When it comes to
planning your time, the most important skill is knowing how to prioritise. By
identifying your real priorities you will achieve more. Deliberately focus 80 percent
of your
George Lucas Influences
A long time ago in a galaxy not so far away a boy with a love of space operas and
race cars would grow into a man who would create a movie empire and change the
world of cinema for years to come. George Walton Lucas Jr. was born on May 14,
1944, in Modesto, California a small farming town east of San Francisco (Barson).
He attended Thomas Downey High School and later attended Modesto Junior
College to study social sciences. While he was there, Lucas took an interest in
photography and film and, subsequently, decided he wanted to go to art school. Then,
he enrolled in the University of Southern California film school and produced eight
student films with his new friend Francis Ford Coppola( George Lucas Biography ).

Most notably known for his creation of the Star Wars trilogy, the world renowned
film writer created a series which sparked a dutifully loyal fan base and an ever

many influences; the most prominent being his friends, Francis Ford Coppola and
Steven Spielberg, and a traumatic car crash he experiences as a young adult
One of the major influences on Lucas life and career was Francis Ford Coppola, a
filmmaker born in Detroit, Michigan in 1939 ( Francis Ford Coppola ). George
Lucas first met Coppola when he interned at Warner Bros Studios in 1967 ( George

partnership at Warner Bros. They assisted each other on numerous films in addition to
Lucas learning trade secrets, film methods, and different movie designs. Then, the

Preventative Methods Of Alzheimer s Disease
Preventative Methods of Alzheimer s disease
Now that the disparity between Alzheimer s disease prevalence in men and women,
as well as the different rates of incidence in different countries has been established,
it is now applicable to discuss what can be done to prevent this disease. There are
many ways that researchers believe people can use to prevent Alzheimer s disease.
Studies by researchers have found that cannabinoids could stimulate the brain cells
and slow the progression of the disease. Conversely, some believe that Alzheimer s
is impossible to fight, regardless of the precautions taken. This paper will examine
Alzheimer s disease and also explore in depth on the following topics: the prevalence

There is research that suggests altering the lifestyle can lower the risk of developing
Alzheimer s disease. There are also two more ways that people can stay healthy and
they are: using cannabinoids and avoiding benzodiazepines. The former is found in
marijuana and the latter in anxiety, epilepsy, and sleep medications. In the
benzodiazepine study, the researchers took hundreds of Canadian participants that
were over the age of 66 and grouped them based on whether they had ever used
benzodiazepines. This research was conducted by de Gage, Moride, Ducruet,
Kurth, Verdoux, Tournier, Pariente, and Begaud in 2014. The study on
cannabinoids, a significant component found in marijuana, was done by
Bachmeier, Beaulieu Abdelahad, Mullan, and Paris in 2013. These studies play an
essential role in illustrating how this disease can be prevented. There may not be a
definitive cure for those who are already deeply afflicted with this disease, even in
the future. However, examining studies on cannabinoids and benzodiazepines may
help those who are in the early stages or have no clinical signs of Alzheimer s. In
regards to the benzodiazepine study, the participants who did not ever use
benzodiazepines were placed in the control group (de Gage 2014). The main finding
of this study was the fact that benzodiazepine use is correlated to
The Worst Nightmare
Broken... We ve all got memories that will forever haunt us and that will forever be
with us. At one point in someone s life those memories are going to be too much
for them and they re ready to give up. You feel as if you just want to be numb. You
can t take it anymore, no matter what the age. Memories can be wonderful but they
also can be your worst nightmare. Kate. My friend had been in that position
reasonly. I ll never forget the way she acted about a month before it really hit her.
The best word to describe it: Broke. Completely utterly broken. She canceled
everyone out and kept her distance from friends and family. I never left though. She

want to see her like she was. I remember on the whole way there I was in frantics

As soon as she got into the car I sped off towards the emergency room. When we
had gotten there I rushed in and hit the button for help. All I could hear was her

Religious Beliefs And The Role Of Dress In The Religious...
Religious ideologies regarding dress are based on religious organizations
individual dogmas, who believe that your outwardly appearance should reflect your
inner beliefs. Similarly, adhering to a strict code of dress, that symbolizes its group
s traditions and customs, also helps in controlling the body s sexuality. Hunt Hurst
and Miller Spillman (2012) stated that being well dressed (modestly) is a religious
duty and not a personal preference (p. 266). Dress in a matter of speaking is an
outwardly symbol of religious identification and showing ones connectedness to their
religious organization. Arthur (n.d.) believes a group identity is projected through
dress because people use self presentation and self promotion to visually present
identity that is congruent with their belief systems (Religionand Dress, para. 1).
Since each religious organization perceives the role of dress, as it pertains to the
expression of identity, differently one must also understand the basis of said
religious organizations beliefs in order to comprehend how their beliefs mirror the
role of dress. Islamis a monotheistic faith, one that believes in a single God,
emphasizes submission to God or Allah, as well as the group over the individual.
The Qur an, the literal word of God, lays out the role of dress and its meaning for
both men and women (Hunt Hurst Miller Spillman, 2012; Islam, 2017). According to
the Qur an men are to lower their gaze and be modest, which is purer for them,

Assignment #4 Topic 1
By 1984 Rock and Roll music was going through a changing phase. From break
ups, tragic deaths due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and
obnoxious solo performances, and overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost
sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It seemed that Rock
and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this
environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious
band named Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of
director Rob Reiner as he interviews and follows the British band for their United
States concert tour for their new album, Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and
tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band. From drops in concert
attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery, sudden
changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them
back.
The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the
time; including Yes, Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider,
Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and society viewed them during this era. It
shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols, often overlooking
their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it
Comparing The Gospels Of Mark And Matthew
The Gospels of Mark and Matthew give us details of the ministry, death and
resurrection of Jesus. Mark focuses on Jesus being a servant, healer, teacher and
miracle worker. Matthew focuses on Jesus as the Messiah of the New Law . Both
gospels are to encourage Christians and give them strength to build their faith. Jesusis
using his disciples in both gospels to show that we all sin, are afraid and turn away
from God but through the love and sacrifice of Jesus we are forgiven. The two
gospels are telling the same story with different points to view and a few differences.
Both Mark and Matthew give us story of the baptism of Jesus, the choosing of the
disciples, the journey to Jerusalem, the healings, the miracles, the ministry, the
death, and resurrection of Jesus. One important similarity is the Parables of Jesus
that both gospels go into detail about. The parables are stories from Jesus that teach
us how to live, love, and most importantly how to grow spiritually. To you has been
given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in
parables, so that they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not
understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven. (Mark 4:11 12 ESV)

And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, Why does this generation seek a sign?
Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation. (Mark 8:11 12) I feel
this is our generation and society today. People want proof, want to test the word
of God so that they can believe. So much of our society today has disbelief, hate,
animosity, selfish desires, anger, idolism and greed that they can t see the true love
God has for us. That Jesus was knowingly sacrificed so we could have that eternal
relationship with God. It is very heartbreaking to see that so many are lost but also
inspiring that as Christians we can be that vessel to lead them to
The Impact Of Genentech On The New Biotechnology
Industry
Genentech was founded in 1976 by Robert Swanson and Herbert Boyer. The company
was one of the first biotechnology companies. Its mission was to develop manufacture
and commercialize biotherapeutics drugs. Genentech main focus was in areas of
oncology, immunology and tissue growth and repair. After few years of company s
development, Genentechscientists successfully produced the first therapeutic proteins
which involve human genes. Evaluating with the VRIO analysis, Genentech is
valuable, rare, costly to imitate, and organized to capture value. The main advantage
of the company is that best scientists in the world doing their own research, focusing
in produce the best in class medicines with leading edge scientific knowledge.
Genentech has a rare resource, which provide opportunity for scientists to collaborate
with one another. The working environment is also rare, which provide the scientists
with a 275,000 square foot state of the art facility. Herbert Boyer owns the first major
patentin the new biotechnologysector, which no other companies can duplicate or
purchase those patent rights. This factor is costly to imitate because the company has
the patent for a period of time, thus creating a competitive advantage. Genentech is
organized to capture value and sophisticated selection criteria in order to move
projects from discovery phase to commercialization. The projects are mainly based on
scientific rationale, critical medical needs, significant market opportunities,

Let us start with a brief overview of Electromagnetic Radiation ;
Radiant energy released by certain electromagnetic processes is Electromagnetic
Radiation. It is radiant energy that is all around us and takes many forms whether it
be visible, such as, visible light, or invisible electromagnetic radiations, such as radio
waves, infrared light, sunlight, and x rays.
Electromagnetic radiation covers a large spectrum of wavelengths, these waves of
radiant energy have different usage according to their energy, in example; the rays
from the sun, sunlight is vital to life on earth, radio waves allow us to
communicate, microwaves allow us to cook our foods, infrared radiation provides
us with warmth/heat, visible light illuminate and is also used essentially for
growth of our trees, flowers, and the many foods we grow on earth, ultraviolet
rays, which also comes from the sun, provide us with Vitamin D which is vital for
our bones, and x rays are used for medical diagnostic such as diagnosing a fractured
or broken bone or pathology, it is also used in airports to check our luggage and
help us be safe onboard to our paradise destinations. Gamma rays are used in the
medical field to sterilize surgical equipments, it is also used to sterilize baby
nipples, and cosmetic products, just to name a few; And for the past 60 years or so,
the combination of Radiation, Cobalt 60, Cesium 137, and Gamma Rays have been
used for Irradiating food.

Bible School Vacation Paper
Vacation Bible school is ending at Morris Brown AME Church as the clock strikes
7:30 p.m. on June 17, 2015. Anxious to take their pick from hot dogs, chips, lemon
cakes and sodas, children scurry to the fellowship hall.
The teens walk in collectively, laughing and kidding about the things teens laugh and
kid about. The adults trail closely behind. Some are sharing stories about their day at
work, others telling about their day babysitting grandchildren. Many have not seen
one another since the previous Sunday, so it s a good time to catch up.
I imagine the vibe is similar a few blocks up the street at Mother Emanuel AME

It is not long after the prayer when they dig into the fourth chapter of Mark, when the
entrance door creeks open. Members turn their heads slightly to notice a young, white
man entering the room.
I imagine one of the members motioning to him, encouraging him to grab a seat.
Good evening young man, says one of the older women as she smiles. The young
man asks for the pastor. I envision the members directing him to Reverend Pinckney,
who shakes the visitor s hand as the young man sits beside him.
One member passes the visitor a sheet of paper to follow along the group s study.
The group does not know the young man. Sporting a bowl shaped haircut, he looks
rather young. He stands out from the rest of them, but they accept him.
I imagine Morris Brown would have done the same.

The First Black President, The World s Best Golfer, Or...
Introduction. The first black president, the world s best golfer, or twins that we
grew up watching; Barack Obama, Tiger Woods, Tia and Tamera Mowry, besides
from being in the light of superstardom, they are each a child of a interracial
marriage. In the 21st century there are approximately 1.6 million interracial
relationships or interethnic marriages, with the marriages making up 3% (Troy,
Lewis Smith, Laurenceau, 2006). Interracial relationships over generations have
changed from the way society has viewed them. As early as the 1600 s legislation
has been banning black and white interracial marriages, and this law has stayed in
place until 1967, and Alabama being the last place to maintain the law until 2000
(Troy, Lewis Smith, Laurenceau, 2006).Years ago white women and black men
were severely punished for engaging in sexual relations, however the white male
power was not threatened by exploiting black women nor by a black woman
having their baby (Childs, 2005). In contrast, a white woman who gave birth to a
black man s baby, would be considered polluting the purity of the white race;
thereby including racial boundaries and the power of white man (Childs, 2005).
Irony as times progressed in 1993, there were 246,000 black white marriages an
163,000 of these were between black men and white women (Childs, 2005).
Interracial dating has been considered as unacceptable, and as times has passed,
numerous of people have come to accept the relationships of people with
Comparing The Sword Swallower And A Weaving Kid
The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid is written about two men in contrast with
one another as far as, being from two very different society status/walks of life but
despite their different up brings/background both men have one thing in common
and that is an addiction to drugs and alcohol. The book begins telling the story of
Duke Reynolds (The Sword Swallower) whom at the age of 15 ran away from
home joining the circus living the life of a sideshow freak . The next part of the
book is about Gary (Chico Kid) who went from a straight A high school student
and how he began drinking and drugging partying after going to college. The last
part of The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid is the transformation of in the lives
of both of the men. There are a couple of things that I like about this book. First, I
like the thoroughness of detail in some parts of the book. For example when
reading about the circus acts it is like being there seeing it with my own eyes. I
also, like how it gives you an off the stage or behind the scene view of some of the
circus characters and how the interact with each other being more like a big family
rather than just some random people that came together just to put on a show. I
believe this sheds a new light on the fact that just because someone or something

are met, then particular accounting practice will be observed. Positive theories can
initially be developed through some form of deductive (logical) reasoning. Their
success in explaining or predicting particular phenomena will then typically be
assessed based on observation that is, observing how the theory s predictions
corresponded with the observed facts. Positive Accounting Theory is developed by
Watts and Zimmerman, which seeks to predict and explain why managers elect to
adopt particular accounting methods in preference to others. The theory relied in
great part of work undertaken in the fields of economics, and central to the
development of Positive Accounting Theory was the acceptance of economics based

Limited Power Is A Good Thing
Limited Power is a Good Thing Texans, like many Americans, do not appreciate the
government forcing them to do anything they do not want to, or even, perhaps to an
extent, something they do want to do. For example, Texans, do not want to be told
they have to wear a seatbelt wile in a vehicle, even if they put a seatbelt on every
time they get into a vehicle. More importantly, Texans don t like the government
making their children do something they do not want for their children. However,
former Governor, Rick Perry, tried to make law that female Texans 11 year old or
older to be injected with the HPV vaccine(back in 2007), when the government
should not have any part in what Texans are required to have in their bodies. The
HPV vaccine is to protect an individual from the most common types of HPV. HPV
is the most common sexual transmitted infection that effects men and women, and
consists of more than 150 related viruses. It is caused by sexual relations with
someone with the virus. Even if both sexual partners have only had sex once, they
both can get the virus. Although, not always visible, when visible warts may appear
in the genital area, as well as on other parts of the body. Some HPV types can lead to

Cultural Differences Between Modern Day North And South
Changes occur in every region of the globe; every minute, every second. Most
individuals generally do not approve of changes. It entices fear, mistrust, isolation,
and even pain. In my youth, I liked change. Changes were something to look
forward to, it was fun to meet new individuals and an enjoyable way to see new
places. It was useful to learn new skills and live experiences. So at the age of
fifteen, my mother told me we were headed for America. No attention was given to
these words, because I was a teenager who thought that the state of Texaswould be
quite similar to Toronto, but never could I fathom that this would completely change
my perception of the world. These Challenges have led me to understand the different
cultures between the north and south, not to believe in stereotypes, and made me
adaptable.
I can t even begin to explain the massive cultural differences between modern day
north and south. Most people assume only climate and slang are the major difference
in the two, however they could not be more wrong. Especially between Toronto and
Wichita Falls, Texas. It may sound obvious but there are geographical differences.
For one, in the north we have more clear and fast rivers, and we almost always
have a bay. While in the south, the soil is agriculturally more fertile, so in essence
we see more farms and large areas of land. Also, there is an incredible difference in
population difference between Wichita Falls and Toronto, which is easily amongst
the biggest

loud enough for the neighbors to hear, Hey, bring me another beer. And where is that
worthless son of yours? He was supposed to mow the lawn yesterday. The boy,

Commander Bryan Smith of the Corpus Christi Police Department, when asked what
type of family life do gang members have, said they come from male dominated
households or one parent households.
Many of these youth are from families that are female centered, they are not
necessarily female dominated, because an aggressive male father figure can impact
on the family s history, and more importantly on the child s psychosocial
development.
This parental male is perceived as the most powerful member of the family system,
who gratifies his needs through the use of aggression and intimidation. Many of
these youths have been physically abused by this male adult and also have
witnessed their mothers and /or siblings being battered. If the male figure is no
longer in the home, his presence survives in the form of fantasy or family mythology
long after his departure. (Adler)
Happy homes do not send many of their youngsters into gangs. Gangs are appealing
to those kids who have unpleasant memories of their home life. There is emotional
pain involved in most gang members pasts. In the author s work (Adler) with Chicano
gang youth, (most gang members in Corpus Christi are Chicano) they point out that
the Chicano gang members exhibit violent and aggressive behavior. These youths
experience intense feelings of isolation within their families, culture, school,
community and church.
These intense feelings are best explained by Adler, Because of their own experiences
Disadvantages Of Eye Surgery
There are many individuals who suffer from eye conditions that force them to wear
contact lenses and glasses as means of correcting their vision. In such cases, the
problem is usually with the shape of the lens in the eye, and the used of an extra lens
makes it much easier for people to focus.
However, there are other technologies that can be used for the same conditions. For
instance, the use of the latest eye surgery technology can help you achieve much
better results as compared to using the special lenses mentioned above. The only
thing that deters many people from using laser is the fact that most of them think
that it is a very expensive procedure, and that it may involve a lot of pain. However,
the latest eye surgery technology is not associated with such things, nowadays this
procedure has become more popular making it affordable to patients at lower prices.

In an eye vision surgery, the eye surgeons use a specialized laser that is designed
for operating eyes. This high tech laser is guided by a computer which helps to give
accurate results. Thus, this surgery is very precise and gives desired results to the
patients.
In laser correction eye surgery, the eye specialist or surgeon reshapes the cornea in
our eyes. This surgery helps patients suffering from myopia (nearsightedness),
hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. If you are suffering from eye or vision
problems, then you should immediately consult an ophthalmologist to help you out.
Always consult an experienced eye specialist who has access to the latest
technology and is well reputed in his or her community. For your eyes, if you need a
laser eye correction then your doctor will help you and guide you with the procedure.

Super Bowl Research Paper
Super Bowl
But I haven t met a player or a coach whose goal isn t to win the Super Bowl, Pete
Rozelle states. The Super Bowl, with an audience reaching to approximately one
hundred and thirty Americans, continues to one of the most populated United States
television broadcast (Redelmeier). The Super Bowl is the National Football League
(NFL) American football competition where thirty two teams compete for the
championship in February. There is a total of twelve teams that have the chance to
be in the playoffs for the Super Bowl (Mason). By situating the Super Bowl as a
social drama, one can better understand how the celebration functions as a
performance with economic, emotional, and religious impact. On the first Sunday
of February, the top two teams, based on their win loss record, battle it out for the
title of Super Bowl champions. The American people come together, as family or
friends, and watch the game together (Mason). There is always a selection of food,
such as buffalo wings or pizza. Some parties are more intense than others, which
can include dressing in the colors of a certain team or cheering whenever a team
scores a touchdown. Usually, there is alcohol involved as well. Impaired driving,
resulting to crashing, increases by forty one percent on that day compared to the rest
of the Sundays. From these faltilities, the statistics add about seven more deaths than
a typical Sunday (Redelmeier). The activity of participating in the Super Bowl is a

Book Report by Shyan Bentley
Teacher Tyler Johnson
I chose to do a book report about Jack the Ripper because he is the best known name
for a
serial killer. Also I think it would be interesting to learn about how he chose who he
killed and
why he chose to kill them.
My summary of the book is that the book told me information about the victims of
Jack the
Ripper. The book even gave me information about the policemen involved in solving
who Jack
the Ripper was and about the witnesses and ordinary people who got caught up in all
the
drama and about the journalist who wrote about him. It also tells about all ... Show

Every time that he murdered someone it would keep getting worse and worse. Mary

the third victim, he slit her throat, that was it. They think he was interrupted, he killed
her
on September 30th, 1888. Katherine Eddowes was the 4th victim he took her uterus

she was skinned to the bone when they found in her room she was his 5th victim,

Jack the Ripper is significant to history because he was one of the most famous serial
killers.
He wasn t the first, but he was the first to be written about. He was in the newspapers
everyday. They never knew anything about him except what was written about him.
He left his
victims out in the open. He wanted to be known, he wanted to be famous. Over time
they lost
a lot of evidence. They never found out who Jack the Ripper

  • 3. A Report On Southwest Airlines operated. During this time, travel agent fees were going through the roof and reserving an airline ticket was a complicated, drawn out process. To counter this, Southwest implemented its own reservation system tailored to their own needs, which also included the industry s first paperless ticketing system; but this wasn t the end of IT innovation from Southwest Airlines. In 1995, Southwest.com was launched, and the online ticketing and reservation system was launched in 1996. Soon thereafter, Southwest Airlines ticket sales were primarily coming from their online reservation system (70%). By the late 90 s, Southwest.com was the most visited airlinewebsite [4]. By the start of the millennium, Southwest airlines had already mastered another IT milestone which is still in use to this very day: allowing the passenger to print their own boarding vouchers and allowing passengers to self check in on their own computer even before arriving at the airport [4]! By implementing these two features on the Southwest website, the airline was able to reduce the number of customer service agents at check in counters and allowed customers to spend minimal time waiting at an airport [2]. This increases both passenger and staff efficiency, making the mundane task of waiting around at an airport virtually a thing of the past. Industry Analysis:Applying the Porter model to Southwest Airlines, we can see airline that is surrounded by fierce competition and costs [4]. For intra industry

In my autoethnography I will analyze what about the courtyard I love so much and what those things convey about my relationship with myself and others as well as my position within society. Autoethnographies combine elements of both autobiographies and ethnographies. Specifically, autoethnographies are academic essays that are introspective and narrative oriented looks at the self, much like autobiographies and memoirs. However, autoethnographies are set apart from autobiographies and journals in that they join that introspection with ethnographic research methods concerned with connections between community and the self. Due to their unique nature, ethnographies are beneficial in enhancing cultural understanding of the connections between groups and individuals, as well as the self; and have the potential ability to transform the self and others through the cross cultural building of bonds and understanding (Chang 2007). Using public and locations can be a helpful tool in self insight, as they encompass a specific discourse (Thomas 1987). The authors reactions to that discourse as well as their identity within the discourse In my own autoethnography, I will examine my own reactions to the courtyard in the

In 1917, the company opened its first bookstore in New York City. However, in 1974, the company fell on hard times and was bought by Leonard Riggio. Barnes Noble eventually become the largest bookstore by 1996, offering discounted books. By the late 1990s, Barnes Noble was faced with a new challenge, the Internet; customers were able to order their books cheaper online and read them without going to a physical bookstore. This forced Barnes Noble to reevaluate its strategy and its future direction in order to stay competitive in the bookstore industry. Barnes Noble narrowed its problems down into two major issues. The first issue was whether or not the company should split its two business lines, having one line for digital and online business and the other serve as the more traditional brick and mortar stores. The company also needed to determine the best way to allocate its resources so that it could compete aggressively in the market. The second issue facing the company was whether it was well suited to make these necessary changes independently or if it would need some allies in order to achieve success. Because Barnes Noble was strictly a publisher and retailer, the company didn t have the knowledge or experience to independently build an e reader for the online market that could compete effectively; it needed to partner with another company that could build a

(1) The shape of a graph of an object moving with uniform motion is linear, meaning with a straight line and a constant slope. Since, uniform motion means that the speed is constant and the object is moving in the same direction, the graph will have linear data and its constant slope can be represented with a line of best fit. In other words, the speed and the direction of the object remain the same for all of the motion that the object does, which determines the shape of a graph with an object moving uniformly. In our lab, as time passed by the walker walked at a constant speed and in the same direction (uniformly) for 30m. The uniform motion in this lab gave us the outcome of a linear shape on graph with a line of best fit which is increasing from left to right as its moving away from the origin and a constant slope that remains consistent in direction. 2.How is the speed of an object related to the shape of the graph? (1) The speed of an object is related to the shape of a graph because depending on whether the speed varies during the motion or remains constant, the graph s shape will be affected. If the speed of the graph remains the same (uniform) the shape of the graph will be linear. If the speed of the object varies (non uniform), the graph will have variations in the data for the position which depends on the slowing down and speeding up of the object, leaving us with the outcome of a curve of best fit or a parabola shape. The graph will be in the form of a non linear shape. The speed of an object s motion on the graph represents the slope of the graph. A linear graph with straight

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major reason why prayer is not allowed in public schools is because people may find it offensive to them if they do not belong to they religion that the prayer is being said in. This has been an ongoing argument for many decades and it has not come to a conclusion yet. Everyone has their own beliefs and usually they do not affect others unless they are directed towards someone of another religion. If prayer is going to be formally present in public schools, that school should say a prayer in every religion. They could do this by having someone of each religion in that school come up with a new prayer each day. Another thing they could do is have a special prayer for each religion present whether it s a Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, or even Buddhist prayer. If you want your child to pray and learn a religion in school, send them to a private school that follows a certain religion and that have certain religious beliefs. A major reason why I m against prayer in public schools is because the public school system is created for all students and is paid for by tax payers and fellow citizens. I think that the public schooling system should remain neutral on religions issues die to the diversity of our students, tax payers, and our fellow citizens. • 12. Gender Roles In Ancient Mediterranean Gossiping during the Ancient Mediterranean was a form of social control, which enforced social norms such as ethical sexual behaviors. Gossip is usually established from witnessing an action that is considered a deviation from the standard behaviors within a given society. Set restraints and values produce a power dynamic and allow individuals to claim their subjecthood; this socially constructed definition of subjecthood allows people to categorize themselves within the social and political hierarchy in order to make sense of who they are, such as their sexuality. The interdictions built and created an understanding of one s subjecthood and were controlled by gossip. As a result, gossip defines what is acceptable within that society, the creation... Dehabi that those who perform unconventional sexual behavior will have children with birth defects. The deformed children became public evidence that the couple did not follow the code of the Talmud and they would have had to confront the gossip that circled around the community about them and their children. Teachers should demonstrate that learning is an ongoing process of enrichment and enlightenment. The idea of interdisciplinary study contributes to this. During this scene, I would play Wine Dark Sea (Symphony for Band): I. Hubris, by the 2017 North Texas Wind Symphony (John Mackey). This movement of the song is a great portrayal of the scene because Cassius, the leader of the conspiracy, along with the rest of the conspirators are attempting to persuade Brutus, the protagonist, to join them in the plot to kill Brutus best friend, Julius Caesar. The aspects of the music differ greatly, magnificently portraying the energy of the scene. The music has changes in dynamics, along with solos and solis, or groups of performers playing as an ensemble, that act as the voices of the conspirators that all jump in, agreeing with Cassius, to further persuade Brutus. This piece would begin to play during the stage direction that states, Enter the conspirators: CASSIUS, CASCA, DECIUS, CINNA, METELLUS, and TREBONIUS (2.1.87sd). During the lines following this stage direction there are larger, one person said lines followed by smaller lines that are vaguely announced by the other conspirators. Oscar Wilde was born on October 16, 1854 in Dublin, Republic of Ireland. His parents were Jane and William Wilde and was also the second child of three kids. He was fluent French and German and his parents were successful people. Wilde wrote books, plays, poetry but out of all of them his plays are the most known. I am going to analyze Oscar Wilde because his poems have imagery and metaphors that caught my eye and just how it was written I really loved. At a young age, Wilde s mother would read poetry that she wrote to him and would make it a habit to read it to him. Wilde was introduced to poetry at a young age. He was taught at home until nine where he learned how to speak French and German like I said earlier. His little sister Isola died at age nine from meningitis which is inflammation of the brain and also spinal cord membranes and his poem Requiescat was made in her memory. Wilde was accepted into the college Trinity College from 1871 to 1874 with his older brother, Willie. His tutor gave him the interest in Greek literature. After that he attended another college called, Magdalen. Death is very hard on the people who are dying and those around them, his poem Requiescat is inspired by the sad death of his sister as I spoke about earlier. It is very powerful and meaningful because it talks about her death and how sad and painful it is for others afterwards. First off, in stanza three it says Lily like, white as snow, She hardly knew She was a woman, so Sweetly she grew. This stanza is stating that his sister, Isola was pure and innocent. The phrase white as snow means pure. Secondly, in stanza four it says Coffin board, heavy stone, Lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. In my opinion, heavy stone is her grave and lie on her breast, I vex my heart alone means his heart is with her or it can even mean distressed heart because i found out that vex means distress. Lastly, in stanza five it says Peace, peace, she cannot hear, Lyre or sonnet, All my life s buried here, Heap earth upon it.

How you choose to spend your time is entirely up to you but wouldn t you prefer to spend it on things that are meaningful to you, things that fill you with satisfaction, that add value to your life, that make you feel fulfilled? If time were money, would you be spending it on some of the things that you currently do every day or would you invest it more wisely? The key to getting greater results from your time is effective planning. When faced with a set of tasks most people will dive straight in and start performing the most urgent tasks first, without any planning. Religious ideologies regarding dress are based on religious organizations individual dogmas, who believe that your outwardly appearance should reflect your inner beliefs. Similarly, adhering to a strict code of dress, that symbolizes its group s traditions and customs, also helps in controlling the body s sexuality. Hunt Hurst and Miller Spillman (2012) stated that being well dressed (modestly) is a religious duty and not a personal preference (p. 266). Dress in a matter of speaking is an outwardly symbol of religious identification and showing ones connectedness to their religious organization. Arthur (n.d.) believes a group identity is projected through dress because people use self presentation and self promotion to visually present identity that is congruent with their belief systems (Religionand Dress, para. 1). Since each religious organization perceives the role of dress, as it pertains to the expression of identity, differently one must also understand the basis of said religious organizations beliefs in order to comprehend how their beliefs mirror the role of dress. Islamis a monotheistic faith, one that believes in a single God, emphasizes submission to God or Allah, as well as the group over the individual. The Qur an, the literal word of God, lays out the role of dress and its meaning for both men and women (Hunt Hurst Miller Spillman, 2012; Islam, 2017). According to the Qur an men are to lower their gaze and be modest, which is purer for them,
  • 25. Tap Film Analysis Theo Popa HIST1042 June 22nd 2017 Assignment #4 Topic 1 By 1984 Rock and Roll music was going through a changing phase. From break ups, tragic deaths due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in. This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reiner as he interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album, Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band. From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery, sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them back. The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including Yes, Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols, often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it
  • 26. Comparing The Gospels Of Mark And Matthew The Gospels of Mark and Matthew give us details of the ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus. Mark focuses on Jesus being a servant, healer, teacher and miracle worker. Matthew focuses on Jesus as the Messiah of the New Law . Both gospels are to encourage Christians and give them strength to build their faith. Jesusis using his disciples in both gospels to show that we all sin, are afraid and turn away from God but through the love and sacrifice of Jesus we are forgiven. The two gospels are telling the same story with different points to view and a few differences. Both Mark and Matthew give us story of the baptism of Jesus, the choosing of the disciples, the journey to Jerusalem, the healings, the miracles, the ministry, the death, and resurrection of Jesus. One important similarity is the Parables of Jesus that both gospels go into detail about. The parables are stories from Jesus that teach us how to live, love, and most importantly how to grow spiritually. To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God, but for those outside everything is in parables, so that they may indeed see but not perceive, and may indeed hear but not understand, lest they should turn and be forgiven. So much of our society today has disbelief, hate, animosity, selfish desires, anger, idolism and greed that they can t see the true love God has for us. That Jesus was knowingly sacrificed so we could have that eternal relationship with God. It is very heartbreaking to see that so many are lost but also inspiring that as Christians we can be that vessel to lead them to
