First Day Of College Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "First Day of College" can be both challenging and rewarding. On
one hand, it offers an opportunity to reflect on a significant and often memorable experience. On
the other hand, conveying the emotions, thoughts, and details of that first day in a coherent and
engaging manner can prove to be quite difficult.
The challenge lies in striking a balance between personal reflection and relatability. It's important
to share the unique aspects of your own experience while also capturing the universal sentiments
that many individuals feel on their first day of college. Finding the right words to express the
mix of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation can be a delicate task.
Additionally, creating a well-structured essay requires careful planning and organization.
Deciding on a compelling introduction that grabs the reader's attention, developing a coherent
narrative that flows seamlessly, and crafting a meaningful conclusion are crucial steps in the
writing process. Ensuring that each paragraph contributes to the overall theme and purpose of
the essay is another layer of complexity.
Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining a balance between detail and conciseness.
Including too much information can make the essay cumbersome, while being too brief may
leave the reader wanting more. Striving for the right balance can be a demanding aspect of the
writing process.
In conclusion, while writing a "First Day of College" essay poses its difficulties, the ability to
effectively communicate such a significant personal experience can be immensely rewarding. It
allows for self-reflection and expression, providing a platform to share one's journey into the
world of higher education. Similar essays, along with assistance in various writing tasks, can be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Benzofuran
INTRODUCTION: The metal chelates of various ligands play pivotal role in many
important medicinal applications. They also useful for metal extraction and
detection. The present aspect is context to the novel heterocyclic ligand containing
.pharmaceutica active segments like benzofuran, 1,3,4 oxadiazoe and p amino
salicylic acid as ligand. So the literbture review is as follow:
LITERATURE REVIEW: Chelating agents, because of their metal specificity or
selectivity, can function as good flotaids and selective flocculants. In addition to the
metal selectivity, chelating agents offer certain advantages over conventional
mineral processing reagents even from the synthesis point of view. With the major
donor .atoms S, N, 0 and, to some extent, P numerous possibilities exist to tailor
make reagents for specific applications.[1 3] For polymers the backbone offers
further possibilities for the incorporation of the required properties. In general, the
choice of a chelating agent or a group is made on the basis of its function in well

Sony Corporation of America v. Universal City Studios, Inc.
464 U.S. 417 (1984)
Nature of the Case: Universal City Studios, the plaintiff, alleged that Sony
Corporation of America, the defendant, was guilty of copyright infringement. The
preceding was a discretionary appeal from the district court to the United States
Supreme Court. They sought money damages, profits, and an injunction against the
manufacturing and marketing of Betamax VTR s.
Facts: Sony created Betamax VTR s which let people record and re watch shows on
their televisions. Universal City Studios, Inc. and Walt Disney Productions hold
copyrights on various programs and claimed that Sony s sale of their products was
violating the rights of the Copyright Act of 1976. The
The Invention Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century.
Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a
stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating
the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per
hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The
industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The
ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered
engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11,
2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the
gearbox.

For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to
the engine that were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both
Daimler Mercedes merged to become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the
recession during that time which forced many companies into joint ventures. Their
cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz.
During the 1930 s, the world was gripped by the second World War which saw the
industry, especially in Germany, being used to support ongoing war efforts again.
The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by
motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more
exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge especially with
the onslaught of The Great Depression.
The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the
1940 s. The station wagon was a reintroduced Land Rover, . . . the Land Rover s
wider appeal led to demand for a more civilized vehicle the 7 seater Station Wagon
fulfilled that brief, (Kindersley,113, 2011). The station wagon was designed as a
working vehicle and that could carry a lot of people. The pick up truck was unveiled
by The Ford Motor Company and named The F Series. This became most successful

Arnold Palmer Case
Arnold Palmer Hospital Case Study
1. The case study indicates that the approach to match capacity to demand utilized
by Arnold Palmer Hospital must be approach (a), leading demand with an
incremental expansion. The reason for this is that it is evident that Arnold Palmer
Hospital is attempting to acquire capacity to stay ahead of demand, or in other
words by leading capacity, on account of the fact that the opening of the new 11
store hospital building will increase yearly birthing capacity to 16,000, which is far
above the estimated 13,600 births expected during 2007, as shown by Table S7.3.

Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures

TECH0701: Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures
Introduction
This exercise dealt with the melting points of pure mandelic acid and benzoic acid.
The eutectic temperature and composition of mandelic and benzoic acid mixtures
were determined. And finally, an unknown was identified by its mixtures and melting
point.
The melting point of a compound is used by organic chemists not only to identify the
compound, but also to establish its purity. To determine the melting point two
temperatures were noted. The first was the point at which the first drop of liquid
formed among the crystals; the second was the point at which the whole mass of
crystals turned to a clear liquid. And the melting point was recorded from this ... Show

An unknown compound was obtained and the ID number was recorded. A capillary
tube was loaded with the unknown powder and inserted into the melting apparatus.
The temperatures at which the crystals first started to liquefy and when the entire
sample became liquid were recorded. The melting point was then compared with
previous known mixture samples to identify the unknown compound.

Summary Of The Lord Of The Flies
Then Jonah went out from the city and sat east of it. There he made a shelter for
himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the
city. So the Lord God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over
his head to deliver him from his discomfort. And Jonah was extremely happy about
the plant. But Godappointed a worm when dawn came the next day and it attacked
the plant and it withered. When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east
wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah s head so that he became faint and begged
with all his soul to die, saying, Death is better to me than life.

I know it s pathetic and shallow. I mean, all persons involved were okay. There was
only one wound and It was only a thing: my little cranberry car. But it was my brand
new thing. A thing I got to replace the old thing that was costing me more money to
drive because of its constant need for repairs.
Now my shiny week and a half old thing had an owie and I was crestfallen.
The next day I found myself thinking about the accident in a weird context. I found
myself thinking about it in the association of my sweet young friend who was
fighting for her life after being in a car accident of her own. I thought about it in the
context of a brave and strong man who had been felled by a back injury which
forced him to undergo surgery. For you see, the question of why had not been uttered
about the silly little red car the previous night. The question had hesitatingly popped
from my lips during an anguished prayer the morning before my accident as I thought
of them. My heartbreaking question: why is it that bad things can happen to such
good people?
As I drove along on that road that morning without the knowledge of what would
happen to me that night the only answer I could find came from the humbling verse,
What are you oh pot to say to the potter why have you made me this way? If that wasn
The Creation of Rome
During the eighth century B.C.E. a small Latin speaking community was
established along the Tiber River in Italy called Rome. As time passed the
community expanded its power and control until its control covered almost all of
Italy around 264 B.C.E. To the Romans, their political abilities were just as
important as their army s strength. Their political system worked so well because,
when they conquered smaller societies the Romans allowed the conquered
societies to rule themselves. Rome would also grant citizenship to non Romans so
long as the conquered societies followed Roman law and met the requirements.
The republic of Rome was ruled by an Aristocratic oligarchy. In the beginning the
Romans had no desire to expand any further than the boundaries of their empire. As
their relationships with their neighbors began to diminish new wars were the
result. The first war the Romans waged was the Punic Wars in the west with the
Carthaginian Empire in Spain and Africa. Once the Carthaginian Empire was
conquered, Rome moved east and conquered Macedonia gaining control of the
Greek peninsula. By 133 B.C.E. Rome had conquered the areas to the east and west
and was considered to be the master of the Mediterranean Sea. Rome s empire was
built on religion and law. Both were held in high regard and controlled many of the
decisions made in the Roman culture. Rituals taught the people how to appease their
gods and were a focal point of the Roman religion. Monuments were built
The Heroes Of Abraham Lincoln

American Hero
Many admire presidents as their heroes for the great power they possess. However,
in my opinion, a hero is built by his or her characteristics. Abraham Lincoln was
known to be a shining star in American History at time of darkness. He was
courageous; when segregation, slavery, racism dominated the social trend it was him
that pushed against all the odds and united the nation. He was confident; when facing
military disadvantages and doubts from his own generals, it was him that bravely
took the lead and fully used his decisive personality to light up the darkness. He was
persistent; when the war hit stalemate, it was him that encouraged the people to keep
fighting until they see victory and earn their freedom. Abraham Lincoln
demonstrated a great example of a daring leader who had the audacity to follow his
own belief even at a time of adversity. It is essential for a hero to have courage,
strength, persistence, selflessness, confidence, and intelligence. And all these great
characteristics were accumulated through Abraham Lincoln s tough road of life from
a poor farm boy to the president of United States. He possessed all of those common
heroic characteristics and many more.
Born on February 12, 1809 in a tiny log cabin in Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln was the
second child of Nancy Hanks Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln, a pioneer farmer and
carpenter. Both parents were uneducated, and his mother, although
Western Australia Police Misconduct And What Culture
Needs...
Introduction
The main task and duty of law enforcement officers is to maintain a safe and
protected place for its people. Western Australia police is one of the eight authorities
in Australia and is primary responsible for handling the world s biggest single
jurisdiction wrapping an area of 2.5 million square kilometres with two regions,
fourteen boroughs and one hundred fifty eight police posts. (WA POLICE 2014)
However, in a report last 2010 by Trever Paddenbburg of the Sunday Times, one out
of ten western Australian officers stated that corruption, improper and illegal behavior
sparks within the ranks of the WA force. The exit questionnaires revealed several
negative situations happening in the organization. The exit questionnaires are ... Show

The way of the policing part has made a culture particular to that facility. Like any
authoritative society, police society comprises of generally imparted dispositions,
qualities and standards. What separates police society from other authoritative
societies are the strains that begin in the nature s domain. (Paoline, Meyers and
Worden 2000) It is by and largely acknowledged that there is an immediate
association between police work and an exceptional occupational society . (Chan
1999, Skolnick and Fyfe1993, Manning and Van Maanen 1978, Reiner 1992)
Loftus (2010) used the term sociological orthodoxy that tackles about conventional
aspects of police culture. These aspects are discussed as: a sense of mission
towards its role as a police and having the zest of crime oriented tasks and guarantees
thrill; the gala of mannish exploitation; enforcing and engaging to the use of force
and unofficial practices; distrust; pessimism, social segregation and narrow
mindedness towards those who challenges the rules and regulations mandated.
(Reiner 1992, Bayley 1996) The effect of authoritative society is regularly oblivious
by parts of the association (Clampitt2010) As a result, police officers may be
unacquainted of the exertion of pressure that is being pushed on them by the
organisation, or the influence
Essay about Analysis of the Biography of Upton Sinclair
Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 20th 1978. Sinclair
grew up in a broken household; his father was an alcohol salesman and killed
himself drinking. While his mother would not even think about drinking alcohol.
So these personalities naturally clashed. So Sinclair found some solace in books,
Sinclair was a natural writer and he began publishing at the young age of fifteen
years old. Sinclair started off going to school at a small college by the name of
New York City College. This was just temporary as Sinclair would need time and
money to move higher up to a form of better education. So as a result Sinclair took
the initiative and he started writing columns on ethnic jokes and hack fiction for
small magazines in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through college and ready to move on with his career as a writer and his life he
began moving quickly. In 1900 Sinclair married Miss Meta H. Fuller. Sinclair had
a child named David with her. The marriage was extremely tough though because
both had very little money to work with and with the addition of his son it didn t
help the financial situation in the family. The marriage eventually failed though,
Sinclair and Miss Meta H. Fuller divorced in 1911 as two very unhappy people.
This gave Sinclair inspiration though to write a tale. The tale which was called
Springtime and Harvest was a story about a man and woman who had very little.
Ironically this was very similar to his marriage with Miss Meta H. Fuller. Sinclair
also wrote another tale which was called The Journal of Author Stirling. This was
a fictional story about a man who tried succeed as a writer but eventually failed.
This story started to gain Sinclair attention as a writer and eventually put his name
out there. Then Sinclair came out with a hit, he published The Jungle. Sinclair s
book The Jungle won him an extreme amount of fame and as a result he gained a lot
of money too. The book was basically Sinclair giving the public a view of
exploitation by factory owners back then. His book was an extreme success.
Sinclair also wrote another great book, by the name of Dragons Teeth. This book was
to give the public a view of the rise of Nazism and how quickly it was spreading. This
Brent Staples
The essay Just Walk on by: Black Men and Public Places by Brent Staples, and The
Myth of the Latin Woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria by Judith Ortiz Cofer
illustrate the prejudices some people have. They both describe how the way they look
gets them discriminated by others. Brent Staples, because he is African Americanis
perceived as a criminal; Judith Cofer is a Latina and is mistaken for a waitress
while she waits in a restaurant. Both stories give numerous examples of prejudice.
Also, each of these writers have a larger purpose, different reasons for writing their
story: Staples reason for writing his essay is mainly to express to the reader how
these prejudices affected him as well as other black men all over the country and how

Cofer clearly establishes ethos in paragraph 11 when she talks about being
proficient and even successful with the English language and her ability to cope
with the anger she experiences due to the stereotypes. This is a clear call to ethos
because she is establishes the fact that she has authority as a Hispanic woman who
has to deal with the stereotypes given to her. By establishing ethos, readers are
more likely to observe the problems she is facing. This helps get her point across
the readers and prove that what she is saying is much more legitimate than someone
without ethos. Staples uses ethos by showing his own personal accounts of people
feeling uncomfortable around him just because he is black. He feels the woman in
the beginning thought herself the quarry of a mugger, a rapist, or worse. Also, he
believes he was indistinguishable from the muggers who occasionally seeped into
the area from the surrounding ghetto . Even though Staples had to deal with people
inferring racist insults towards him, he didn t let that affect his life. Instead, he felt
he needed to take precautions to make [himself] less threatening. Staple s use of
ethos persuades the audience that people feel intimidated by a black man just
because he is of different skin
Pros And Cons Of Free College
Over some time, people have discussed free college. There are many ideas people
have made on the subject and on what they want to have happen. On Debate.org
about 64% of people wish that college was free while 36% of people say that it
should not be free. Students have to pay mass amounts of money just to get a job
that might pay more than a job without a degree. Should collegebe free in the US, or
must everyone pay for a college level education? People should have a right to a
college level education. Many are left in debtafter college and that makes living
difficult for most. Three things that should get changed to fix this problem would be
to make books cheaper, let go of the school tuition, and make paying student loans
easier.
Students who are starting college or are finishing up should not have to pay
upwards of $400 for just one new book or even $200 for a used book. This is
outrageous, in high school students were given books for free and if something
happened to it, of course, they had to pay for it but at least that was reasonable. One
reason the books are so expensive is, Publishers will drive up textbook prices
because students have to buy whatever textbook they ve been assigned. Most students
that pay for college on their own will agree that this is insane and not moral.
Publishers don t care about students learning, they care about lining their pockets
with money. If that is not the case, then why are the prices rising? A solution some
students have been
A Holistic View Of Data Migration
This is one of the very crucial iterations of my internship which is aimed to give a
holistic view of data migration process. This phase is allocated maximum possible
time with the goal of understanding the basic principles and guidelines that are part of
typical data migration process. In this iteration the agenda is to know and understand
the concepts of data migrationand thingsthat necessitatedata migration, how does a
data migration strategy look like, what are the pre requisites for a good migration
strategy, roles involved and their responsibilities in the entire work flow, technology
required, objectives at each phase, end to end data flow, adherence of a strategy to
the business rules and requirements that govern the process and outcomes of
migration work process. I am expected to be knowledgeable of applications business
domains that are part of the migration.
There might be multiple source systems or legacy systems that need to be
considered as part of the data conversion and migration and it is expected to
understand a reasonable portion of the intended use of each of these underlying
source systems. One of the other activities in the agenda is to give a deep dive in to
the different stages of migration and the connectivity between the stages of Extract,
Transform and Load. Introduction to various environments that host or stage the data
is also part of the plan.It is also anticipated to have introduction to the data flow and
conversion from source to
Layers Of Airport Security
Identifying terrorists at airports is a very difficult task for homeland security
professionals since terrorists can blend in very well with the more than 650 million
law abiding passengers that travel every year via U.S. airports (United States
Government Accountability Office, 2014). The security layered approach is a security
strategy that helps reduce the risk of a terrorist infiltrating into an airport by
employing a wide range of tools and programs that can enhance airport security
(Hoggan, 2012). The numerous layers of security are designed to be able to
prevent, identify, and stop a terrorist attack in case one of the previous security
layers failed to do so (Cason, Lu, Schreckengast, 2010, pg. 88). Each security layer
has their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This strategy allows DHS to be able identify suspicious individuals before they
even arrive to the airport. The names of passengers are being matched against the
database when the passengers book their flights prior to arriving to the airport, which
is more time and cost effective for DHS than having to identify suspicious
individuals among large crowds of people at airports.
As mention above, all layers of security have some weak points and the Secure Flight
program is not the exception. It may be very difficult for DHS to be able to
effectively screen suspicious individuals without disrupting the flow of passengers
since the screenings of suspicious individuals may take longer in comparison to
those passengers who do not pose a threat or are not considered suspicious.
Therefore to combat the Achilles heel of the Secure Flight program, DHS has
created the TSA pre check program. The TSA pre check is a program in which
passengers, usually those passengers who travel frequently, voluntarily submit
themselves to extensive background investigations and if the passenger is able to
meet the requirements posted by DHS, then the passenger will be allowed to go
through expedite screenings when they travel as the passenger will be considered by
DHS a Trusted passenger
Analysis Of The Poem Sainte Chapelle
Sainte Chapelle Sainte Chapelle is a Gothic style church and a powerful monarch
that was built within seven years. It has religious and political influence. It is on the
ГЋle de la CitГ© which is in the heart of Paris, France. Sainte Chapelle is near the
Palais de Justice buildings with a petite and peaceful exterior. Also, it was built to
preserve some Christian relics i.e. Christ s crucifixion crown; all the relics were
obtained by Saint Louis. In figure one, the entrance to the chapel is displayed (
Sacred Destinations ). The most memorable aspect is the stained glassartworks. They
all resemble scenes from the Old and New Testaments, making up 1,113 parts of
history in the world before the relics came to Paris. These stories on stained glass
made the Sainte Chapelle very popular which promoted it to being one of the most
visited French High Gothic architecture. The Sainte Chapelle church has a good
amount of history behind it, besides the amazing lower and upper chapel areas.
The upper chapel includes a spectacular interior and exterior dГ©cor. A part of
Saint Chapelle s history involves Saint Louis paying venetian merchants 135,000
pounds for Christ s crucifixion crown. He also bought fragments of the torture
weapons, used on Jesus, and parts of the Holy Cross. He got them from the year
1241 king of Jerusalem Baudoin II. Saint Louis wanted all these valuable items to
be in the same place, and he believed they belonged in an extraordinary spot. The

Persuasive Essay About Transgender
Have you ever thought you weren t who you re supposed to be? Have you ever
thought you weren t the right gender? Well trust me there are a lot of people like
you. There has been so much controversy about transgenders though. Many are
criticized and some even harm themselves. They are discriminated against and are
bullied by some. They are told they can t do certain things because they are
transgender. They are told they cant use a certain bathroom and cant join the army.
These are the struggles of transgenders.
Transgenders are being told they cant use the bathroom they want to. There is a
story about a MTF (male to female) six year old that was told that she cant use the
girls bathroom at school. For a year and a half, it wasn t an issue. But in December,
Coy s school informed her parents that she would no longer be permitted to use the
girls restroom. (From school to society, the intolerance transgender people face).
The bathroom, and more specifically the public restroom, is where the rights of
transgender people come into close proximity with the privacy rights of everyone.
The Supreme court took a case on October 28, 2016 about a FTM (female to male)
high school student who wanted to use the boys bathroom. They agreed with the
previous statement about the privacy of the bathrooms. (Transgender Bathroom
Issue: a Solution?). This has proof that it has happened to many people in schools
and can help many people who are struggling with this.
Trump banned transgenders from joining the military.... WOW. Our president
Donald Trump posted a tweet on twitter which said After consulting with my
Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States
Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any
capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and
overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs
and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you . A judge
in the federal court put a temporary ban on this request. He said his ruling was
because it was a disapproval of transgender people generally. (Judge Blocks Trump s
Ban on Transgender Troops in Military). Even people with a lot of power
Elie Wiesel Writing Style
Writings in formal literature follow specific rules to convey factual messages or
arguments. In novels and memoirs however, these rules may be overlooked in order
to effectively communicate a certain tone. A fantastic example of this is in Elie
Wiesel s memoir, Night, where he recalls the story of his time surviving the Holocaust
. In this memoir, Wiesel uses characteristics such as repetition, contrasting words, and
short statements to make the reader feel as if he is recalling the story right beside
him. These different attributes to the writinghelp the reader fully understand how the
Holocaust emotionally affected its victims. An interesting aspect of Wiesel s writing
style is his tendency to use floral descriptions directly over the somber feel of the
Holocaust. By doing this, he creates a brief moment of peace amidst the chaos
without straying far from the grave tone he has established. An example of this is
when Wiesel sees his father smile for the first time since they were sent to the labor
camps. Then he smiled ... The snow continued to fall in thick flakes over the corpses
(86). Immediately after his father smiles, Wiesel extinguishes any hope that may have
come from that moment when he reminds the reader that there are still cadavers
surrounding them. Effective communication of hopelessness arises from this style,
for whenever there is an optimistic event, the hope that came with it is abruptly taken
away. Repetition in writing emphasises certain points or
Compare And Contrast Two Plans For Setting Up A Hotel
1.0The purpose of this essay was to compare and contrast two plans for setting up a
hotel in Beilun. Plan A was set up a business hotel, and plan B was travel hotel.
Research methods used were the internet, surveys and a SWOT analysis was done
to compare the plans. Plan A was chosen because I believe that it is for business
men , and I will make a lot of money from it. Plan A was chosen because
businessmen have a lot of money and this is a good opportunity.

Premature Babies And Their Chances Of Survival
Premature babies have existed since the beginning of time. The only difference
between now and the past is that babies currently have more chances of survival.
This paper will discuss a few components: the history of premature babies, impact
of knowledge and technology and the nurses that take care of premature babies.
We have the advancement in technology to thank for that. Today there are still
some cases where the baby might be born and still be too underdeveloped and die
even with technology. For example, I have a friend that had a baby a few months
ago at nineteen weeks gestation and neither one of the baby s lungs were
developed so she died. They told her that since she was so early that there was no
way to save the baby even if they attempted to. The reason this subject means so
much to me is because I also had a premature baby. My son came at twenty seven
weeks gestation and stayed in the hospital for eleven weeks. Although he came early
he survived and I am forever grateful for that. Technology and Vanderbilt played a
big part in that. Premature care was very rare but is now standard.
History of the NICU World
It is known that you might not be able to control or prevent preterm birth therefore
improving the infant s health and quality of life is the goal. The knowledge and
technology was not available to keep the babies alive. Once a child is born premature
they are placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In the early 20th century
premature birth was the
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Multi Core Processor
Generally the CPU has fetch, decode, and execute operation. Most of today s multi
core processors feature shared caches. In shared caches the caches are splitted into
blocks and are used randomly by each core in a multi core processor. Because of
this there is severe delay experienced by each core and the processing speed is also
reduced. This happens due to more time taken for read operation of memory and
CPU. The problem faced by such architectures is cache contention. So far the time
required for fetching is more when compared to the execution process. The fetching
time must be reduced. Hence to address this problem, we have implemented a
program that allows the usage of cache memory for each core of a processor at same
time. In our concept, we execute all jobs of each... Show more content on

ADVANTAGES OF MULTI CORE PROCESSOR The maximum energy in the
processing will be visualized in developing the time while simulating the CPU
processes like scanning of anti virus, writing, reading, and burning the data.
Thinking that the die is set into the package in a physical manner, then the multiple
core processor implementations will need very little space for PCB than the
multiple chip SMP implementation. Also, a two core processor utilizes very little
amount of power than the two strongly bonded single core processor, due to the
reduced power needed to transmit the signals outer material to the chip. XIII.
EQUATIONS If we consider that the fetching and execution process are on various
blocks of cache then the quantity of the process being simulated is 1/n. also if it is
said that they are developed on the similar block of cache memory being executed
is k/n, where k is the quantity of fetch and execute process being performed. P is said
to be the full quantity of cores. N is the full quantity of blocks of cache. The CPU
writing time is shown below. CPU write time estimation CPU write time= [CPU

Humpback Research Paper
Of course, no whale is more important than the other. However, the Humpback
Whale is the most marvelous creature of all of them. A typical Humpback Whale is
40 tons, and grows up to 40 to 60 feet long. It is known as the fifth largest whale in
the world. Humpbacks are known as omnivores. This means that they eat fish and
plants in the ocean. The worldwide population of a Humpback is at least 80,000
whales in all. They are known to be migrants just like other baleen whales.
Unfortunately, these innocent Humpbacks are currently endangered. Many of them
are endangered, because whalehunters kill them for the supply of oil and baleen.
Humpbacks are compelling mammals because they have a detailed body, odd
habits, a diverse diet, and a vast habitat. Humpbacks have an intricate body design.
For example, they have black and white patterns and scars, which are all different
compared to other whales. The researchers use these differences to tell each
individual whale apart. Humpbacks did not just get it s name for no particular
reason. They are called Humpbacks , because when they dive they bend their back
forming a bump. The shape of their head looks very similar to the shape of an
alligator head. In addition, there is a mouthline that runs along the length of the head,
but barely curves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Baleen whales are called migrants, which is why Humpbacks are always traveling
in different directions. While these whales are traveling they always travel close to
the coasts of the ocean. They migrate according to seasons. For example, in the
Summer the North Pacific Whales will travel south. The reason for this is because
they always travel to the warm waters during breeding seasons. However, they
travel back north in the winter, so they can feed there. They are often found in
Hawaii or Baja, Mexico in the winter. Clearly, Humpbacks are continually moving
and never stay in one place for the whole

Language arts is a core class throughout all levels of education, and music helps
young students to be more aware of and focus on phonemes that make up the English
language ( Start ). In the most basic form, music has helped teach children the
alphabet. A study done by Cohen Taylor in 1981 stated, ...popular song lyrics used as
reading materials caused middle grades students to approach printed materials in a
positive manner. Students had been approaching reading materials with apathy...kids
became enthusiastic and excited about using lyrics as reading materials. Reading
skills can be effectively taught using popular song lyrics (Eady and Wilson
Restructuring Music s 244). This method would be well accepted throughout student
bodies across the nation. A distinct tie exists between music and the human brain. It
speaks to the emotions, the angst, the happiness, and it really ties kids into their
emotions. Everything seems so life and death, so right now (Gutjahr). There are one
hundred billion neurons in the brain (Levitin 85). Almost every part of the brain
lights up when a person listens to, plays, or reads music. Playing an instrument
requires carefully timed physical movements, which enables the motor cortex ( Your

Genetic Engineering for Livestock Producers
In order to meet the needs of a growing population scientist and livestock producers
have been focused on increasing food production efficiency, whilst maintaining
animal health and welfare. Therefore advancements have been made in the form of
new reproductive and genetic technologies to ensure that the highest level of
productivity can be reached and maintained. These technologies offer breeders
new pathways to meet goals and objectives over both short and long term periods.
The possibilities available include genetic engineering, marker selection MOET
and cloning, however new technologies are being developed at a rapid rate.
Cloning of livestock was first successfully completed in 1996 when a female
domestic sheep was cloned from an adult somatic cell. Since then cloning has been
used within the livestock industry, to produce a genetically identical copies of
superior animals. Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is currently being utilised
for cloning of adult farm animals. This process involves the reprogramming of a
somatic cell nucleus to preform in a set way for embryonic development to occur.
The first stage of SCNT involves the collection of a somatic cell using cumulus,
fibroblasts, ovarian/ granulosa, marry, muscle, oviduct or uterine cells (Davies et al,
2003). An oocytes arrested at metaphase II is used for the reprograming of the
somatic cell as it comprises the necessary components for starting and instructing
early embryonic development. After collection
Divorce Essay
Divorce can destroy family
Not too long ago, divorce was forbidden, unaccepted, unheard of, difficult to get,
and considered as an act of sin among married couples. Many changes in the last
fifty years have affected marriage and divorce rates. The rise of the women s
liberation movement, the advent of the sexual revolution, and an increase in women
s labor force participation altered perceptions of gender roles. As of today, in modern
society divorce has become more acceptable. The guilt and shame of the old
divorce laws are gone. More couples are separated and divorcing is becoming part
of the norm. (MLR) Divorce can be one of the most painful topics and the most
talked about in the modern world. When a marriage is not working, ... Show more

The effects of a divorce can take an emotional toll on a person as much as a financial
burden. There can be temporary effects to long lasting effects on the family. Divorce
is emotionally devastating for most people. It forces us to kill our dreams when
we are married to our mate. Often at times, we envision the white picket fence and
growing old with that person and we never see divorce as an option. So, when the
end result is divorce it can be the ultimate rejection, because we feel like we are
being rejected by the one person that would never hurt us . Divorce is a type of
death, and we need to grieve the loss such as we do a death. In a divorce, we can
also lose our confidence. At times, we often feel like we have failed as a wife or
husband, and that sometimes leads to rebound relationships where we can fall
into a relationship right away, not choosing someone that is healthy. (Swaity)
When getting a divorce, it can also lead to loss of friends and family. When you
get a divorce, you are also divorcing your partner s family. Divorce often makes
your family and friends feel like they need to choose and take sides. Married
couples often have couple friends that you usually do stuff with, so when a divorce
happens they don t know what to say so they stay away. Divorce is expensive in
many ways. There are legal costs of obtaining a divorce. While married, couples
usually accumulate assets so that has to be divided. And when there are children
Themes Of Feminism In Harriet The Spy
It is often questioned whether tween literature is too mature for its targeted age
group. With themes of murder, sexual abuse, neglect, and other forms of violence,
both physical and psychological, there seems to be one topic that is slightly more
prevalent when speaking about tween literature. Tween literature and culture is often
marketed towards young girls and their parents, because of this, it becomes easy to
talk about themes of feminismin tween literature. More specifically, due to the time
period in which tween culture became mainstream, postfeminism is a topic that is
often heavily discussed around tween literature. Both Gail Levine s novel, Ella
Enchanted, as well as Louise Fitzhughs novel Harriet the Spy, can both be analyzed
using a postfeminist lense. By using a postfeminist lense in analyzing these books,
the issues of postfeminism become apparent when addressing issues such as a false
sense of choice for young girls, an idea that they must be ashamed for who they are
and the views that they hold. It is further complicated when it becomes apparent that
due to postfeminist ideology, women, and specifically young girls have lost the
ability to articulate sexism when it affects them. Through these points of contention
regarding postfeminism, it becomes aparent that society is not quite ready to hold
postfeminist views, since there is still an imbalance of power that women face on a
day to day basis. It is important to have a baseline understanding of what
John Harris Anti-Aging Research
The fountain of youth has so far remained elusive to humanity, but modern scientific
innovations have opened the door for realistic immortality, or at least a far extended
lifespan. However, the means to create immortal people is burdened with moral and
ethical controversy do we want to be immortal? Humanity has much to gain from
researching the extension of humanlife, but should work under limitations because
although it offers people the chance to live healthier lives, the boundaries of social
morality begin to fracture once immortality becomes possible.
Science and medicine s purpose have always been to save human life, or at least
postpone death. Doctors do not save lives by curing cancer so much as they
prolong lives, but those lives are now healthier and more enjoyable. John Harris, a
71 year old bioethicist at the University of Manchester, believes, it is one thing to
ask, Should we make people immortal? and answer in the negative. It is quite another
to ask whether we should make people immune to heart disease, cancer, dementia,
and many other diseases and decide that we should not (qtd. in Than). Harris thinks

scientists believe new technologies will never be able to raise human life span any

others think the human body can be genetically engineered to limit age related

American weddings last for a few hours, and they cost thousands of dollars. I see the
differences with foreign cultured weddings versus the traditional American wedding.
In America, we have lost most of our cultural foundations, and I believe this is
another reason for the decline in marriages.
My inherited opinion is from my family and from my culture. They have instilled in
me that being married is a part of my heritage and culture. My opinion also comes
from linked opinion. Such as same sex marriage are closely linked with political
affiliation. My adaptive opinion comes from my religious affiliation. Involuntary
opinions comes from the constant bombardment of news regarding same sex
marriages, economic chaos and the women s liberation movement. Another
involuntary opinion is from the constant news about Hollywood celebrities and their
marriages. My religion and culture follow well under linked opinions.
I agree with the author Aja Gabel that marriages are weakening because of the
women s liberation movement. Women are becoming a main stream economic
provider in the family household. Many corporations now have women holding
high positions for the company that they work for. For example, in January 2014
General Motors announced that Marry Barra will be taking over the CEO role for
that company. In fact, several other corporations such as Hewlett Packard, Lockheed
Martin, Xerox, DuPont, General Dynamics, PepsiCo, and Yahoo all have women as

The Colonial Settlements Of The Quakers
This paper will explore the history of the colonial settlements of the Quakers, who
are also known as the Society of Friends, who settled in New Jersey and
Pennsylvania in colonial times. The history surrounding the establishment and
growth of the Quaker colonies of West Jersey and Pennsylvania will be discussed.
William Penns efforts in establishing the colonies of West Jersey and Pennsylvania
were paramount to Quakers immigrating to America. John Fenwick also played a
major role in founding the colony of West Jersey, which is now known as New Jersey
and the later immigration of Quakers to Pennsylvania. The abolitionist efforts of
the Quakers in their fight against slavery, their equal treatment of slaves and the
assistance that they provided to slaves will also be discussed. Quakers provided
shelter, financial support and harbored many slaves so that they could avoid
capture by their owners. Quakers were a large part of the abolitionist movement in
the colonies while slavery was legal. Many Quakers played a role in the
Underground Railroad, which assisted slaves in obtaining their freedom and avoiding
capture. The terms Quaker and Society of Friends are interchangeable and will be
used throughout this paper accordingly.

Uncle Bob could have been detained for many reasons; a bench warrant for a failure

They do this by contacting the agency who provided that original information.
The main issues I have with this situation is that Uncle Bob has never left the state

Theme Of God In The Magician s Nephew
Though large parts of The Magician s Nephew give magic and evil the attention, the
book is also about life, especially it s source. In Narnia, the source of life is Aslan.
C.S. Lewis portrays Aslan as God. Aslan represents God in three ways, he is the
creator of Narnia, he is the provider, and he is all powerful.
Aslan is the creator of Narnia like God created this universe. He sings Narnia into
existence. There was nothing, the world was empty and void, and then through
Aslan s song there was something. Digory describes the voice of Aslan s song, as
seeming to come from all directions at once and it is beyond comparison, in fact, it
was so beautiful he could hardly bear it. (Lewis 59). Aslan creating Narnia through
song reminds of what the Psalmist says, For he [God] spoke, and it [the universe]
came to be; (Psalm 33:9 ESV). Aslan created Narnia; God created the universe. Just
like Aslan sang Narnia into existence; God spoke the universe into existence. ... Show

He provides for the needs of whoever trusts in him and does his work. An example
of this is when Aslan asks Digory to go get an apple. First, he wants to see Digory

Strawberry s new name since Aslan made her winged. Later, when they are
camping, he provides again. Digory and Polly realize they have no food besides
the remains of a bag of toffee, one of which was planted and the next day, thanks to
Aslan s power, there was a toffee tree whose fruit was delicious. (Lewis 92) Jesus

8)Kargil is suffering from an obstruction of his colon. He notices that his urine color

I would tell Kargil that the darker color of his urine is due to probably increased
mounts of pigment urobilin, which give urine its normal yellow color. Urobilin is
derived from urobilinogen, which is formed in the large intestines by the action of the
intestinal bacteria on the bile pigments. In an intestine obstruction, the bile pigments
cannot be eliminated by their normal route, so a larger than normal amount diffuses

1)Graves Disease:
Graves disease is an immune system disorder that results in the overproduction of
thyroid hormones (hyperthyroidism). The thyroid gland is an important organ of the
endocrine system. The gland is located at the front of the neck above where the
collarbones meet. This gland releases the hormones thyroxine (T4) and
triiodothyronine (T3), which control body metabolism. Controlling metabolism is
important for regulating mood, weight, and mental and physical energy levels. When
the body makes too much thyroid hormone, the condition is called hyperthyroidism.
Graves disease is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism and is most common

Skin Cancer Essay
The Causes and Symptoms of Skin Cancer
The Causes and symptoms of Skin Cancer While tanning beds and extreme use
/exposure to UV rays are ways to get skin cancer, there are also various other ways
to get it. Many don t know that genetics and traits can actually play a huge role in
developing this dangerous disease. They also don t know that skin cancer is the most
common type of cancer in the U.S. today. According to the Skin CancerFoundation
more people over the last 300 years have had skin cancer than all of the other cancers
combined. They say that one in five people develop skin cancer throughout their
lifetime; some surviving, some moribund. Skin cancer starts in the outermost layer of
skin called the epidermis. The epidermis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basal cell carcinoma treatment is very important because it can eventually grow
deeper into your skin and destroy the tissue and/ or bone (Carucci JA, 2013). It
usually looks like a raised, smooth, pearly bump on sun exposed skin of the head,
neck shoulders or back of hands. BCC is often mistaken for a sore that does not
heal. (Staff, Skin Cancer Causes, 2012). Squamous Cell Cancer (SCC) is the next
most common type of skin cancer. It accounts for about fifteen to twenty percent
of skin cancers in individuals. SCC is two times as frequent in men as women and
usually catches up with the victim at an older age. If the amount of sun/UV ray
/lamp exposure is extremely great, it is possible to get it while at a young age also.
Almost all of squamous cell carcinomas result from extreme exposure to UV rays,
the sun, and/or lamps (Staff, Skin Cancer Causes, 2012). It is possible to get
squamous cell carcinoma on any part of your body. A common place for women to
get SCC is on their legs. Some types of SCC look like a common, well defined,
thick, red, scaly patch/ bump on one s skin. If it is left untreated, it can form into a
big mass and possibly spread to other parts of the body (Michael S Lehrer, 2013).
The least common, yet most harmful, type of skin cancer is called malignant
melanoma. It accounts for less than ten percent of skin cancers in individuals. This
type of cancer can and most likely will kill a victim if not found earlier in a cancer
The Main Reasons Behind The Enron Scandal
The ENRON Scandal is one of the most well known financial and ethical crisis
within American history. The main reason was the Agency problem as we will
illustrate with this paper.
The agency problem generally raises to the conflict of interest between organization
and ownership in a corporate enterprise. Owners is primarily focused on maximizing
its capital through the business, while management is mainly interested in
maximizing and stabilizing its salaries and benefits without suffering or taking a
serious risk to them, they always want to be in the safe side and not engage or be in
real loss in their financial life.

This was clear about the management culture practices Obviously; the Enron disaster
did not occur by chance. It was simplified by a corporate culture that encouraged
greediness and fraud. Enron s auditors (Arthur Anderson) showed absence of
independence in their work. Enron s auditor, Arthur Andersen, was found guilty in a
United States District Court. Independence of auditors by separating the consultancy
and auditing part is also vital for the transparency aspects.
The estimation and reporting of the credit rating agencies was also very weak in the
situation of Enron. it been subjected on the false information given by the company.
The agencies appear to be least involved deeply in Enron financial statement details.
As is it known to every specialist in the financial markets the responsibility of the
credit rating agencies is to show a clear picture of the financial position of the
company. Arthur Andersen was unsuccessful to make truthful judgement, just
because of the weakness in the skilled and ethical values, which led to its failure and

The Stocking Strangler, The Serial Killer
The Stocking Strangler was the serial killer back in the late 1970s that struck fear
within the residence in a certain neighborhood in Georgia. This serial killer targeted
older women to satisfy his sexual desire and empowerment over women. Law
enforcement had a person of interest that was almost at every crimescene that the
serial killer has targeted; his name is Carlton Gary. Throughout the trial against Mr.
Gary, the prosecution used evidence from past crimes to paint him in front of the
court that he did without a doubt that he committed these acts against these women.
He was convicted after all charges and was given the death sentence until about the
last minute the state Supreme Court approved the defense s motion to suspend Mr.
Gary s execution for the basis of DNA testing on the evidence. That motion has
paved the way for Mr. Gary to get a re trial for the charges he was convicted on.
Keywords: DNA, evidence, testing
The Conflicting Case of the Stocking Strangler
The case study that this author is covering is one of the most notorious and worst
crime of US history. This killer not only kills women; he rapes them, then he utilizes
an item to kill his victims. This killer s name is known throughout the country and
the world as the Stocking Strangler which started in the 1970s. Law enforcement has
appended the suspected serial killer; the accused s name is Carlton Gary. Mr. Gary
was found guilty of all charges, but however, they didn t have DNA testing at the time
Braveheart Research Paper
In the beginning of 1995 I had not yet been thought of, but there were a handful of
great movies that were released. The year brought a lot to the table, the Oklahoma
City bombing, O.J. Simpson s murder trial, Widows 95, many protests and
marches, and the first full length computer animated film was released, Toy Story.
Needless to say, it was an interesting year that brought its own highs and lows, just
like every other year. In the midst of the chaos five movies were released that the
Academy Awards deemed worthy of Best Picture, Apollo 13, Babe, Braveheart, II
Postino: The Postman, and Sense and Sensibility. Of these nominees I had only
ever seen one of these movies, Babe. The nominees were very diverse, and brought
the world everything, a classic book, historic events, a different countries tragic
story, and even talking animals. With such a wide variety, at least one of them
would appeal to almost any person, adult or child. Braveheart was based portray

They each tell different stories, some of war, discrimination, love, and loss. I feel
like a common theme is freedom. The freedom to do as one pleases, despite what
others may say or think. The freedom of an entire country. The freedom of love.
Braveheart is set primarily in 13th century Scotland, it covers the war for Scotland
s freedom from England. Sense and Sensibility is set in the late 18th century, it
tells of women seeking happiness and love in a world that does not want them to
have that freedom. Babe is about a pig who wants and obtains the freedom to be a
sheep dog. In a way, Apollo 13 represents freedom of choice, based on the space
mission in 1970. II Postino: The Postman shows freedom in Ruoppolo s want to be
free to read poetry. I enjoyed uncovering what I found was the underlying theme
between these drastically different
Scurvy During The Age Of Scurvy
Scurvy (a vitamin C deficiency) had plagued the world for multiple centuries until
actions were finally taken in attempt to find an antidote. Scurvy is a disease which
results from insufficient intake of vitamin C and leads to the spots on the skin,
spongy gums and bleeding from almost all mucous membranes. Vitamin C
deficiency and scurvy was hastened in the age of sail because of the rigorous
working conditions for sailors. The diet of sailors during the age of sail was
obviously the main factor in the plight of scurvy. As VitaminC cannot be produced
internally by humans, it must be ingested through the diet. By examining the history
of vitamin C, one can fully appreciate the advances made in its research. Surprisingly,

The Causes And Cons Of Chemistry In Chemistry
After completion of the transesterification reaction employed at the optimal
conditions, the catalyst was collected from the reactant mixture by filtration; the
catalyst was washed with hexane several times to remove the adhered oil particles,
and then dried at 110В°C for 2 hr. The catalyst was reused several times without
further treatment to obtain FAME from WCSO.
To evaluate catalyst stability, the optimum amount of CaO that was obtained by
examining the operating condition was stirred with 38ml methanol at the optimum
conditions obtained. After the catalyst was separated, methanol was mixed with 30
ml WCSO and the reaction was carried out under the optimum conditions, 65В°C,
methanol: oil ratio 30:1, 3 hr. and 300 rpm.
3.Results and discussion
3.1 Catalyst characterization
The synthesized CaO catalyst was subjected to different temperatures and times of
calcination. The calcination time and temperature change the catalyst structure;
consequently, this affects catalyst activity and the concentration of FAMEs
produced. The impact of different calcination temperatures, 700 В°C, 750 В°C,
800 В°C, 850 В°C, and 900 В°C, and durations, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hr, were tested for
the transesterification of WCSO to produce biodiesel. The eggshell powder showed
an apparent color different from the color before calcination as shown in Figure 1.
Table 3 shows that exposing egg shell powder to a longer time and higher
temperature of calcination results in a lighter white color. Being whiter
Ownership Risks Assessment And Recommendation
MEMORANDUM A1 Ownership Structures
To:Mike Jackson and Alan Prentice
From:Elliot Chan
Date:15 September 2016
Subject:Ownership Risks Assessment and Recommendation
I have received your invitation to invest in the bakery. Firsts offering a sale at
$50,000 for purchase. We have to reform the business between 3 structures such as
sole trader, partnership and a private company. After studying these ownership
structures, I would like to give you my advice and hear from your considerations.
Comparison between Ownership Structures
In a sole trader structure, the owner keeps all the profit since he provides all capital
for the business. A partnership structured business shares its revenue with every
single partner under the calculations. However, it might be beneficial because
splitting up the revenue means that tax payment will also be shared (Department of
State Growth [DSG] 2015 a). On the contrary, private company shares its profit
according to equity of the shareholders. For example, A holds 2% of shares while B
holds 15% when profit sharing occurs A could only get 2 % and B would receive
15% of the profit share.
While discussing mandatory and legislation requirements, sole trader and
partnerships shares most necessities. Crawford (2007) states that both business
structure does not require any mandatory audits, the only business license is
required. According to Crawford (2007), a company that has 50 or more employees
are qualified to audit legislation
The Effects of Varying Horizontal G-Forces
Introduction This is a look into the effects of varying horizontal G Forces that are
exposed to us and the amount or limit a human can tolerate of the horizontal G
Forces. Charts and graphs that will represent the data will lend to a more authentic
and concrete conclusion. To demonstrate growth and unknown variables, an
equation will be crafted. Such variables will be labeled and shown on the visual
representations. To aide in the analysis of the information, calculations will be
done with a graphing calculator as well as open source software available here:

Any calculations performed will follow a set and defined procedure detailed
below. Task 1 The first table of data illustrates the tolerance human beings have to

as both Time and +Gx fluctuate in relation to each other. The analysis does
demonstrate that as length of time increases the amount of +Gx gees tolerated

Social Media And The Media
However, Contrary to the idea that social media creates a polarizing filter bubble,
exposing people to only a narrow range of opinions, 70 percent of Millennials say
that their social media feeds are comprised of diverse viewpoints evenly mixed
between those similar to and different from their own. (American Press Institute,
2015, p. 3) This disputes the notion that everybody who engages in social media
receive a uniform message, and these diverse viewpoints also enables users to become
judicious in what content they are consuming. In the same American Press Institute
study researchers concluded, nearly three quarters of those exposed to different views
(73 percent) report they investigate others opinions at least some of the time... Show

The study found Americans are selective consumers with behaviors varying reliant
on the topic. With this in mind we can hope groups other than millennials are not
receiving a likeminded point of view even if a clear proclamation cannot be made.
All in all a multitude of voices talking about assorted topics can only be good for
public discourse, and could potentially impact mobilization. The preceding
paragraphs were aimed at providing a baseline of knowledge, show that social
media provides a wide variety of information, and to establish that its worthy of
investigation. At the moment there is a lack of research aimed at determining the
impact of the public s use of social media on Agenda setting, and priming. Yet, there
has been research regarding social media and mobilization that is quite promising.
Thus far, mobilization is where social media has seen its greatest impact.
Mobilization is defined as, the process by which candidates, parties, activists and
groups induce other people to participate (Rosenstone Hansen, 1993, p. 25). When
taking the definition for mobilization into account it is easy to understand why social
media has shown promise in this area. Social media supplies activists with the ability
to circulate information, and information is the means by which political activists
recruit new members. Social media also creates vast networks that . . . allow people
to assemble as individuals, with limited

Group Therapy For Treatment Of Psychological Issues
Groups Reflection Peg Michaels Walden University Groups Reflection Through
research, group therapy has been proven to be as cost affective and therapeutically
beneficial as individual therapy for treatment of psychological issues (Corey, Corey
Corey, 2010). For counselors to appropriately facilitate many types of group therapy
they need to develop certain skills. These skills can be learned through cross
training. Some counselors may find they only like to facilitate certain types of
groups, but they can overcome their personal discomfort by learning the strategies
that are available to assist them. This paper is about my group therapy
conceptualization, world view, and the group process. Conceptualization, process and
dynamics Group counseling is facilitated by a therapist or counselor, accommodating
5 to 15 clients, each attempting to achieve specific goals. Corey (et al., 2010) tells us
that counselors facilitate group movement through the use of different technique to
engage group participants. Counselors create a safe, judgement free place for
participants to interact with each other and the counselor. Members and the counselor
provide others in the group support and guidance during discussions. Though opening
up in front of strangers may feel intimidating at first, it allows the creation of the
support network as well as a sounding board for members to express their thought and
feelings (Johnson, 2016). Facilitating the group process requires the counselor to
Essay about anger in communication
Anger In Communication
Communicating is the means of transmitting or the exchange of information. These
types of exchanges usually occur in many different forms or means. Humans
communicate both verbally and nonverbally. The term also refers to sharing or to
make common and is defined as a process of understanding. (Pearson amp; Nelson,
2000 p.18). This process is an activity, an exchange, or a set of behaviors.(Pearson
amp; Nelson, 2000 p.170). These processes or exchanges can lead to anger, which
may in some cases, produce results of serious consequences.
Anger can be defined as a great feeling of displeasure, wrath, fury, or indignation.
Misunderstanding during the exchange of information will create conflicts. These

The outrageous behaviors that are displayed by my partner, most times are

getting into a terrible accident and being killed.. At this time she promptly pulled the

In a nutshell, it is because the economic benefits are grossly overstated and are
outweighed by the wide ranging environmental, public health and weapons
proliferation problems and risks. Uranium accounted for 0.19 per cent of Australia s
export revenue in 2011/12 (the last available figures)1. By the most generous
estimate, uranium accounts for 0.015% of all jobs in Australia.2 For Queensland,
there is the additional limitation that the state has around just 2% of Australia s
uranium resources. Clearly, the industry has no capacity to deliver significant
economic or employment benefits. Instead of acknowledging the extremely limited
economic potential of uranium mining in Queensland, the LNP state government, the
Australian Uranium Association and the Queensland Resources Council have
continued a pattern of extravagant and unsubstantiated claims regarding jobs,
revenue and royalties. Enthusiasm is no substitute for evidence and limited sectoral
self interest is not the same as the public interest. The assumptions and analysis of
those promoting the uranium sector in Queensland needs to be challenged and
reviewed.

Social Inequality In Society
Individuals are positioned differently in society in relation to socially constructed
categories of identity (race, gender, class, socioeconomic status, etc.) that shape our
experiences. The social construct categories that one belong to can produce social,
political and economic privilege and oppression. The theory of intersectionality
suggests that our relationship to these categories is multi layered and co constructed.
Thus, our relationship to privilege and oppression is a complicated dynamic that can
change throughout our lifetimes (Suarez, Newman Reed, 2008).
According to the dominant discourse, both the client and I are considered foreigners
because neither of us was born in the United States. Like so many other foreigners we
both left our native country in pursuit of the American dream (higher wages, better
employment/education opportunities, and home ownership). We both had to deal
with culture shock that entailed mourning the loss of our country coupled with
adapting to a new culture and being placed in a disadvantaged socioeconomic
position. Also, there was a shift in our social status from being in the racial majority
to a minority in the United States. Nevertheless, unlike my client upon arriving in
America, I had the support of my microsystem to help me adjust to the new social
environment. With that I was able to gain more access to privilege and resources by
obtaining a college education, becoming a US citizen, becoming a part of the
working classes.
Ernest Hemingway A Farewell To Arms
Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1889. He raised in the small town
of Oak Park in Illinois. His mother was a musician and growing up forced young
Ernest to take several hours of music lessons, but he hated it, this caused
Hemingway to hate his mother for most of this life. While his father on the other
hand, would take him fishing and hunting in Northern Michigan. After High school
he became a journalist at The Kansas City Star and discovered his love of writing.
When WWI came around he decided he wanted help. Hemingway ended up in Italy
as an ambulance driver and was wounded by a mortar after bravery delivering
supplies to the men on the front lines. His experience in the war is what inspired him
to write A Farewell to Arms. After
Elderly Senior Population
In 2014, Americans age 65 and older represented 14.5% of the total population in the
United States. Between 2004 and 2014 the senior population grew by 10 million
constituting a 28% increase in the senior population, far surpassing the 6.2% growth
in the population under the age of 65 (US Department of Healthand Human Services,
2016). It is projected that one in every five Americans will be a senior in 2030
(Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013; Ortman, Velkoff Hogan, 2014).
The coming generation of seniors will be significantly different than those before
them more racially diverse, less likely to be married, and facing declines in their
economic well being and increases in inequality and disparities (Helman, Copeland,

For example, nutrition plays a crucial role in the morbidity of illnesses such as
cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer s disease (Coombs,
Barrocas, White, 2004; Mann, 2002; Scarmeas, et al., 2008; Shah, 2013; Takashashi
et al, 2003). Additionally, poor nutrition can decrease immunity, increase the time
needed for recovery from injury or illness, and has been associated with an increase
in hospital visits all functions that already deteriorate with age (Brownie, 2005;
Forster et al, 2012; Lesourd, 1997; Sullivan, 1995). Finally, elderly malnutrition leads
to increased health costs for individuals and for the health care system a system that
will be further strained with the growth in the aging population. Quality nutritious
diets can reduce the health risk seniors already face (Bernstein Munoz, 2012; Volkert,
2013).
To inform policy and public health decisions that support nutritional health for
seniors, it is important to understand the factors that are associated with nutritious
diets among seniors. While physiological changes in seniors body create issues for
nutrient intake, they also face the cumulative effect of socioeconomic and
behavioral factors (Donini, et al, 2013; Mojon et al, 1999; Morley, 1997; Morley et
al, 1997; Palacios Joshipura, 2014; Shatenstein, 2008; Walls Steele, 2004; Wellman
et al, 1997). Research on nutritional risks among the elderly has examined a variety
of socioeconomic and behavioral predictors
Symptoms And Treatment Of Infection Control
Infection Control
Since the manual handling task requires close contact with the patient, all handlers
should follow strict infection control protocols in ICU. A recent study showed that by
strictly following infection control protocols the incidence of hospital acquired
infections could be reduced (8). In addition, an observational study concluded that
better hospital wide infection control would reduce the number of MRSA positive
patients admitted to ICU and acquisition of MRSA within ICU (9). Therefore, it is
important to minimize the spread of the infection by performing the following aseptic
techniques.

However, there is no universal approach and best practices must be adapted to fit
the epidemiology of specific ICUs and should also consider the available resources
(10).
Radiation safety
Radiation safety of patients, radiographers and other individuals in ICU should be
considered according to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle.
General radiation safety principles include time, distance and shielding (7). Since the
patient is male, no pregnancy check is needed.
To protect the patient, the length of time that a patient remains in the path of the x ray
beam should be minimized. Therefore, it is important for radiographers to avoid
unnecessary repeats and thus unnecessary exposure. Gonad shielding should be used
on patients if possible, which is particularly important for young patients. In addition,
proper collimations and adjusted exposure factors should be applied according to
patient situations to minimize radiation dose (7).
Radiographers should protect themselves as well. The time spent in radiation fields
should be limited by taking shifts. Radiographers should stand as far away from
source as possible to increase distance between radiation source and themselves. They
should stand behind appropriate radiation shields or, more commonly, wear
appropriate protection (7). According to a previous study, leadapron is the most
common method of radiation protection as it may

First Day Of College Essay.pdf

  • 1. First Day Of College Essay Writing an essay on the topic "First Day of College" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, it offers an opportunity to reflect on a significant and often memorable experience. On the other hand, conveying the emotions, thoughts, and details of that first day in a coherent and engaging manner can prove to be quite difficult. The challenge lies in striking a balance between personal reflection and relatability. It's important to share the unique aspects of your own experience while also capturing the universal sentiments that many individuals feel on their first day of college. Finding the right words to express the mix of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation can be a delicate task. Additionally, creating a well-structured essay requires careful planning and organization. Deciding on a compelling introduction that grabs the reader's attention, developing a coherent narrative that flows seamlessly, and crafting a meaningful conclusion are crucial steps in the writing process. Ensuring that each paragraph contributes to the overall theme and purpose of the essay is another layer of complexity. Moreover, the challenge extends to maintaining a balance between detail and conciseness. Including too much information can make the essay cumbersome, while being too brief may leave the reader wanting more. Striving for the right balance can be a demanding aspect of the writing process. • 4. The Invention Of The Automobile Industry The automobile industry is said to have its beginnings dating to the 19th century. Gottieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach, of Germany, fitted their engine into a stagecoach in 1886 (Kindersley, 2011, 10). They were both successful at creating the first four wheeled, gas engine vehicle. It reached a top speed of ten miles per hour. Each engine was still being fitted into stagecoaches (Kindersley, 2011, 10). The industrial revolution introduced a wide array of new ideas for the automobile. The ideas ranged from air cooled engines, single cylinder engines, steam powered engines, electric cars, to a vehicle with a sliding gear transmission (Kindersley, 11, 2011). Other ideas included overhead cam engines, and the introduction of the gearbox. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the industry this became only the beginning. Many other innovative designs to the engine that were introduced during this time are still in use today. In 1926, both Daimler Mercedes merged to become Daimler Benz AG. This was as a result of the recession during that time which forced many companies into joint ventures. Their cars were marketed under the name of Mercedes Benz. The cars of Mercedes were adored by the Third Reich and the cars were being used by motor racing as well (Kindersley,15, 2011). This enabled the company more exposure later on. The 1930 s were hailed as a time of great challenge especially with the onslaught of The Great Depression. The world was met by the introduction of the station wagon and pick up truck in the 1940 s. The case study indicates that the approach to match capacity to demand utilized by Arnold Palmer Hospital must be approach (a), leading demand with an incremental expansion. The reason for this is that it is evident that Arnold Palmer Hospital is attempting to acquire capacity to stay ahead of demand, or in other words by leading capacity, on account of the fact that the opening of the new 11 store hospital building will increase yearly birthing capacity to 16,000, which is far above the estimated 13,600 births expected during 2007, as shown by Table S7.3. Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures Essay TECH0701: Measuring the Melting Points of Compounds and Mixtures Introduction This exercise dealt with the melting points of pure mandelic acid and benzoic acid. The eutectic temperature and composition of mandelic and benzoic acid mixtures were determined. And finally, an unknown was identified by its mixtures and melting point. The melting point of a compound is used by organic chemists not only to identify the compound, but also to establish its purity. To determine the melting point two temperatures were noted. The first was the point at which the first drop of liquid formed among the crystals; the second was the point at which the whole mass of crystals turned to a clear liquid. There he made a shelter for himself and sat under it in the shade until he could see what would happen in the city. And Jonah was extremely happy about the plant. But Godappointed a worm when dawn came the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered. When the sun came up God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah s head so that he became faint and begged with all his soul to die, saying, Death is better to me than life. A thing I got to replace the old thing that was costing me more money to drive because of its constant need for repairs. Now my shiny week and a half old thing had an owie and I was crestfallen. The next day I found myself thinking about the accident in a weird context. I found myself thinking about it in the association of my sweet young friend who was fighting for her life after being in a car accident of her own. I thought about it in the context of a brave and strong man who had been felled by a back injury which forced him to undergo surgery. For you see, the question of why had not been uttered about the silly little red car the previous night. The question had hesitatingly popped from my lips during an anguished prayer the morning before my accident as I thought of them. My heartbreaking question: why is it that bad things can happen to such good people? As I drove along on that road that morning without the knowledge of what would happen to me that night the only answer I could find came from the humbling verse, What are you oh pot to say to the potter why have you made me this way? • 8. The Creation of Rome During the eighth century B.C.E. a small Latin speaking community was established along the Tiber River in Italy called Rome. As time passed the community expanded its power and control until its control covered almost all of Italy around 264 B.C.E. To the Romans, their political abilities were just as important as their army s strength. Their political system worked so well because, when they conquered smaller societies the Romans allowed the conquered societies to rule themselves. Rome would also grant citizenship to non Romans so long as the conquered societies followed Roman law and met the requirements. The republic of Rome was ruled by an Aristocratic oligarchy. In the beginning the Romans had no desire to expand any further than the boundaries of their empire. As their relationships with their neighbors began to diminish new wars were the result. The first war the Romans waged was the Punic Wars in the west with the Carthaginian Empire in Spain and Africa. Once the Carthaginian Empire was conquered, Rome moved east and conquered Macedonia gaining control of the Greek peninsula. By 133 B.C.E. Rome had conquered the areas to the east and west and was considered to be the master of the Mediterranean Sea. Rome s empire was built on religion and law. Both were held in high regard and controlled many of the decisions made in the Roman culture. Rituals taught the people how to appease their gods and were a focal point of the Roman religion. Monuments were built
  • 9. The Heroes Of Abraham Lincoln Kevin Yu Mr. Stebens American Literature B4 4/27/2015 American Hero Many admire presidents as their heroes for the great power they possess. However, in my opinion, a hero is built by his or her characteristics. Abraham Lincoln was known to be a shining star in American History at time of darkness. He was courageous; when segregation, slavery, racism dominated the social trend it was him that pushed against all the odds and united the nation. He was confident; when facing military disadvantages and doubts from his own generals, it was him that bravely took the lead and fully used his decisive personality to light up the darkness. He was persistent; when the war hit stalemate, it was him that encouraged the people to keep fighting until they see victory and earn their freedom. Abraham Lincoln demonstrated a great example of a daring leader who had the audacity to follow his own belief even at a time of adversity. It is essential for a hero to have courage, strength, persistence, selflessness, confidence, and intelligence. And all these great characteristics were accumulated through Abraham Lincoln s tough road of life from a poor farm boy to the president of United States. He possessed all of those common heroic characteristics and many more. Born on February 12, 1809 in a tiny log cabin in Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln was the second child of Nancy Hanks Lincoln and Thomas Lincoln, a pioneer farmer and carpenter. Both parents were uneducated, and his mother, although

(Chan 1999, Skolnick and Fyfe1993, Manning and Van Maanen 1978, Reiner 1992) Loftus (2010) used the term sociological orthodoxy that tackles about conventional aspects of police culture. Sinclair grew up in a broken household; his father was an alcohol salesman and killed himself drinking. While his mother would not even think about drinking alcohol. So these personalities naturally clashed. So Sinclair found some solace in books, Sinclair was a natural writer and he began publishing at the young age of fifteen years old. They both describe how the way they look gets them discriminated by others. Brent Staples, because he is African Americanis perceived as a criminal; Judith Cofer is a Latina and is mistaken for a waitress while she waits in a restaurant. Cofer clearly establishes ethos in paragraph 11 when she talks about being proficient and even successful with the English language and her ability to cope with the anger she experiences due to the stereotypes. This is a clear call to ethos because she is establishes the fact that she has authority as a Hispanic woman who has to deal with the stereotypes given to her. By establishing ethos, readers are more likely to observe the problems she is facing. This helps get her point across the readers and prove that what she is saying is much more legitimate than someone without ethos. Staples uses ethos by showing his own personal accounts of people feeling uncomfortable around him just because he is black. He feels the woman in the beginning thought herself the quarry of a mugger, a rapist, or worse. Also, he believes he was indistinguishable from the muggers who occasionally seeped into the area from the surrounding ghetto . Even though Staples had to deal with people inferring racist insults towards him, he didn t let that affect his life. Instead, he felt he needed to take precautions to make [himself] less threatening. Staple s use of ethos persuades the audience that people feel intimidated by a black man just because he is of different skin
  • 13. Pros And Cons Of Free College Over some time, people have discussed free college. There are many ideas people have made on the subject and on what they want to have happen. On Debate.org about 64% of people wish that college was free while 36% of people say that it should not be free. Students have to pay mass amounts of money just to get a job that might pay more than a job without a degree. Should collegebe free in the US, or must everyone pay for a college level education? People should have a right to a college level education. Many are left in debtafter college and that makes living difficult for most. Three things that should get changed to fix this problem would be to make books cheaper, let go of the school tuition, and make paying student loans easier. Students who are starting college or are finishing up should not have to pay upwards of $400 for just one new book or even $200 for a used book. This is outrageous, in high school students were given books for free and if something happened to it, of course, they had to pay for it but at least that was reasonable. One reason the books are so expensive is, Publishers will drive up textbook prices because students have to buy whatever textbook they ve been assigned. Most students that pay for college on their own will agree that this is insane and not moral. Publishers don t care about students learning, they care about lining their pockets with money. If that is not the case, then why are the prices rising? A solution some students have been

Layers Of Airport Security Identifying terrorists at airports is a very difficult task for homeland security professionals since terrorists can blend in very well with the more than 650 million law abiding passengers that travel every year via U.S. airports (United States Government Accountability Office, 2014). The security layered approach is a security strategy that helps reduce the risk of a terrorist infiltrating into an airport by employing a wide range of tools and programs that can enhance airport security (Hoggan, 2012). The numerous layers of security are designed to be able to prevent, identify, and stop a terrorist attack in case one of the previous security layers failed to do so (Cason, Lu, Schreckengast, 2010, pg. 88). Each security layer has their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This strategy allows DHS to be able identify suspicious individuals before they even arrive to the airport. The names of passengers are being matched against the database when the passengers book their flights prior to arriving to the airport, which is more time and cost effective for DHS than having to identify suspicious individuals among large crowds of people at airports. As mention above, all layers of security have some weak points and the Secure Flight program is not the exception. It may be very difficult for DHS to be able to effectively screen suspicious individuals without disrupting the flow of passengers since the screenings of suspicious individuals may take longer in comparison to those passengers who do not pose a threat or are not considered suspicious. Therefore to combat the Achilles heel of the Secure Flight program, DHS has created the TSA pre check program. The TSA pre check is a program in which passengers, usually those passengers who travel frequently, voluntarily submit themselves to extensive background investigations and if the passenger is able to meet the requirements posted by DHS, then the passenger will be allowed to go through expedite screenings when they travel as the passenger will be considered by DHS a Trusted passenger

It has religious and political influence. It is on the ГЋle de la CitГ© which is in the heart of Paris, France. Sainte Chapelle is near the Palais de Justice buildings with a petite and peaceful exterior. Also, it was built to preserve some Christian relics i.e. Christ s crucifixion crown; all the relics were obtained by Saint Louis. In figure one, the entrance to the chapel is displayed ( Sacred Destinations ). The most memorable aspect is the stained glassartworks. They all resemble scenes from the Old and New Testaments, making up 1,113 parts of history in the world before the relics came to Paris. These stories on stained glass made the Sainte Chapelle very popular which promoted it to being one of the most visited French High Gothic architecture. The Sainte Chapelle church has a good amount of history behind it, besides the amazing lower and upper chapel areas. The upper chapel includes a spectacular interior and exterior dГ©cor. Well trust me there are a lot of people like you. There has been so much controversy about transgenders though. Many are criticized and some even harm themselves. They are discriminated against and are bullied by some. They are told they can t do certain things because they are transgender. They are told they cant use a certain bathroom and cant join the army. These are the struggles of transgenders. Transgenders are being told they cant use the bathroom they want to. There is a story about a MTF (male to female) six year old that was told that she cant use the girls bathroom at school. For a year and a half, it wasn t an issue. But in December, Coy s school informed her parents that she would no longer be permitted to use the girls restroom. (From school to society, the intolerance transgender people face). The bathroom, and more specifically the public restroom, is where the rights of transgender people come into close proximity with the privacy rights of everyone. The Supreme court took a case on October 28, 2016 about a FTM (female to male) high school student who wanted to use the boys bathroom. They agreed with the previous statement about the privacy of the bathrooms. (Transgender Bathroom Issue: a Solution?). This has proof that it has happened to many people in schools and can help many people who are struggling with this. Trump banned transgenders from joining the military.... WOW. Our president Donald Trump posted a tweet on twitter which said After consulting with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. • 18. Elie Wiesel Writing Style Writings in formal literature follow specific rules to convey factual messages or arguments. In novels and memoirs however, these rules may be overlooked in order to effectively communicate a certain tone. A fantastic example of this is in Elie Wiesel s memoir, Night, where he recalls the story of his time surviving the Holocaust . In this memoir, Wiesel uses characteristics such as repetition, contrasting words, and short statements to make the reader feel as if he is recalling the story right beside him. These different attributes to the writinghelp the reader fully understand how the Holocaust emotionally affected its victims. An interesting aspect of Wiesel s writing style is his tendency to use floral descriptions directly over the somber feel of the Holocaust. By doing this, he creates a brief moment of peace amidst the chaos without straying far from the grave tone he has established. An example of this is when Wiesel sees his father smile for the first time since they were sent to the labor camps. Then he smiled ... The snow continued to fall in thick flakes over the corpses (86). Immediately after his father smiles, Wiesel extinguishes any hope that may have come from that moment when he reminds the reader that there are still cadavers surrounding them. Effective communication of hopelessness arises from this style, for whenever there is an optimistic event, the hope that came with it is abruptly taken away. Repetition in writing emphasises certain points or

The only difference between now and the past is that babies currently have more chances of survival. This paper will discuss a few components: the history of premature babies, impact of knowledge and technology and the nurses that take care of premature babies. We have the advancement in technology to thank for that. Today there are still some cases where the baby might be born and still be too underdeveloped and die even with technology. For example, I have a friend that had a baby a few months ago at nineteen weeks gestation and neither one of the baby s lungs were developed so she died. They told her that since she was so early that there was no way to save the baby even if they attempted to. The reason this subject means so much to me is because I also had a premature baby. My son came at twenty seven weeks gestation and stayed in the hospital for eleven weeks. Although he came early he survived and I am forever grateful for that. Technology and Vanderbilt played a big part in that. Premature care was very rare but is now standard. History of the NICU World It is known that you might not be able to control or prevent preterm birth therefore improving the infant s health and quality of life is the goal. The knowledge and technology was not available to keep the babies alive. Once a child is born premature they are placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. In the early 20th century premature birth was the

In shared caches the caches are splitted into blocks and are used randomly by each core in a multi core processor. Because of this there is severe delay experienced by each core and the processing speed is also reduced. This happens due to more time taken for read operation of memory and CPU. The problem faced by such architectures is cache contention. So far the time required for fetching is more when compared to the execution process. The fetching time must be reduced. Hence to address this problem, we have implemented a program that allows the usage of cache memory for each core of a processor at same time. In our concept, we execute all jobs of each... Thinking that the die is set into the package in a physical manner, then the multiple core processor implementations will need very little space for PCB than the multiple chip SMP implementation. Also, a two core processor utilizes very little amount of power than the two strongly bonded single core processor, due to the reduced power needed to transmit the signals outer material to the chip. XIII. EQUATIONS If we consider that the fetching and execution process are on various blocks of cache then the quantity of the process being simulated is 1/n. also if it is said that they are developed on the similar block of cache memory being executed is k/n, where k is the quantity of fetch and execute process being performed. P is said to be the full quantity of cores. N is the full quantity of blocks of cache. The CPU writing time is shown below. A typical Humpback Whale is 40 tons, and grows up to 40 to 60 feet long. It is known as the fifth largest whale in the world. Humpbacks are known as omnivores. This means that they eat fish and plants in the ocean. The worldwide population of a Humpback is at least 80,000 whales in all. They are known to be migrants just like other baleen whales. These technologies offer breeders new pathways to meet goals and objectives over both short and long term periods. The possibilities available include genetic engineering, marker selection MOET and cloning, however new technologies are being developed at a rapid rate. Cloning of livestock was first successfully completed in 1996 when a female domestic sheep was cloned from an adult somatic cell. Since then cloning has been used within the livestock industry, to produce a genetically identical copies of superior animals. Somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) is currently being utilised for cloning of adult farm animals. This process involves the reprogramming of a somatic cell nucleus to preform in a set way for embryonic development to occur. The first stage of SCNT involves the collection of a somatic cell using cumulus, fibroblasts, ovarian/ granulosa, marry, muscle, oviduct or uterine cells (Davies et al, 2003). With themes of murder, sexual abuse, neglect, and other forms of violence, both physical and psychological, there seems to be one topic that is slightly more prevalent when speaking about tween literature. Tween literature and culture is often marketed towards young girls and their parents, because of this, it becomes easy to talk about themes of feminismin tween literature. More specifically, due to the time period in which tween culture became mainstream, postfeminism is a topic that is often heavily discussed around tween literature. Both Gail Levine s novel, Ella Enchanted, as well as Louise Fitzhughs novel Harriet the Spy, can both be analyzed using a postfeminist lense. By using a postfeminist lense in analyzing these books, the issues of postfeminism become apparent when addressing issues such as a false sense of choice for young girls, an idea that they must be ashamed for who they are and the views that they hold. It is further complicated when it becomes apparent that due to postfeminist ideology, women, and specifically young girls have lost the ability to articulate sexism when it affects them. Through these points of contention regarding postfeminism, it becomes aparent that society is not quite ready to hold postfeminist views, since there is still an imbalance of power that women face on a day to day basis. However, the means to create immortal people is burdened with moral and ethical controversy do we want to be immortal? Humanity has much to gain from researching the extension of humanlife, but should work under limitations because although it offers people the chance to live healthier lives, the boundaries of social morality begin to fracture once immortality becomes possible. The Colonial Settlements Of The Quakers This paper will explore the history of the colonial settlements of the Quakers, who are also known as the Society of Friends, who settled in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in colonial times. The history surrounding the establishment and growth of the Quaker colonies of West Jersey and Pennsylvania will be discussed. William Penns efforts in establishing the colonies of West Jersey and Pennsylvania were paramount to Quakers immigrating to America. John Fenwick also played a major role in founding the colony of West Jersey, which is now known as New Jersey and the later immigration of Quakers to Pennsylvania. The abolitionist efforts of the Quakers in their fight against slavery, their equal treatment of slaves and the assistance that they provided to slaves will also be discussed. Quakers provided shelter, financial support and harbored many slaves so that they could avoid capture by their owners. Quakers were a large part of the abolitionist movement in the colonies while slavery was legal. Many Quakers played a role in the Underground Railroad, which assisted slaves in obtaining their freedom and avoiding capture. The last place that you would think you would have a negative experience with technology is on vacation; trying to enjoy the sun atmosphere of a place other than home. In Narnia, the source of life is Aslan. C.S. Lewis portrays Aslan as God. Aslan represents God in three ways, he is the creator of Narnia, he is the provider, and he is all powerful. Aslan is the creator of Narnia like God created this universe. He sings Narnia into existence. There was nothing, the world was empty and void, and then through Aslan s song there was something. Digory describes the voice of Aslan s song, as seeming to come from all directions at once and it is beyond comparison, in fact, it was so beautiful he could hardly bear it. (Lewis 59). Aslan creating Narnia through song reminds of what the Psalmist says, For he [God] spoke, and it [the universe] came to be; (Psalm 33:9 ESV). Aslan created Narnia; God created the universe. Thus, our relationship to privilege and oppression is a complicated dynamic that can change throughout our lifetimes (Suarez, Newman Reed, 2008). According to the dominant discourse, both the client and I are considered foreigners because neither of us was born in the United States. Like so many other foreigners we both left our native country in pursuit of the American dream (higher wages, better employment/education opportunities, and home ownership). We both had to deal with culture shock that entailed mourning the loss of our country coupled with adapting to a new culture and being placed in a disadvantaged socioeconomic position. Also, there was a shift in our social status from being in the racial majority to a minority in the United States. Nevertheless, unlike my client upon arriving in America, I had the support of my microsystem to help me adjust to the new social environment. With that I was able to gain more access to privilege and resources by obtaining a college education, becoming a US citizen, becoming a part of the working classes.
  • 53. Ernest Hemingway A Farewell To Arms Ernest Miller Hemingway was born on July 21, 1889. He raised in the small town of Oak Park in Illinois. His mother was a musician and growing up forced young Ernest to take several hours of music lessons, but he hated it, this caused Hemingway to hate his mother for most of this life. While his father on the other hand, would take him fishing and hunting in Northern Michigan. After High school he became a journalist at The Kansas City Star and discovered his love of writing. When WWI came around he decided he wanted help. Hemingway ended up in Italy as an ambulance driver and was wounded by a mortar after bravery delivering supplies to the men on the front lines. His experience in the war is what inspired him to write A Farewell to Arms. After
  • 54. Elderly Senior Population In 2014, Americans age 65 and older represented 14.5% of the total population in the United States. Between 2004 and 2014 the senior population grew by 10 million constituting a 28% increase in the senior population, far surpassing the 6.2% growth in the population under the age of 65 (US Department of Healthand Human Services, 2016). It is projected that one in every five Americans will be a senior in 2030 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2013; Ortman, Velkoff Hogan, 2014). The coming generation of seniors will be significantly different than those before them more racially diverse, less likely to be married, and facing declines in their economic well being and increases in inequality and disparities (Helman, Copeland, ... For example, nutrition plays a crucial role in the morbidity of illnesses such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, dementia, and Alzheimer s disease (Coombs, Barrocas, White, 2004; Mann, 2002; Scarmeas, et al., 2008; Shah, 2013; Takashashi et al, 2003). Additionally, poor nutrition can decrease immunity, increase the time needed for recovery from injury or illness, and has been associated with an increase in hospital visits all functions that already deteriorate with age (Brownie, 2005; Forster et al, 2012; Lesourd, 1997; Sullivan, 1995). Finally, elderly malnutrition leads to increased health costs for individuals and for the health care system a system that will be further strained with the growth in the aging population. Quality nutritious diets can reduce the health risk seniors already face (Bernstein Munoz, 2012; Volkert, 2013). To inform policy and public health decisions that support nutritional health for seniors, it is important to understand the factors that are associated with nutritious diets among seniors. While physiological changes in seniors body create issues for nutrient intake, they also face the cumulative effect of socioeconomic and behavioral factors (Donini, et al, 2013; Mojon et al, 1999; Morley, 1997; Morley et al, 1997; Palacios Joshipura, 2014; Shatenstein, 2008; Walls Steele, 2004; Wellman et al, 1997). Research on nutritional risks among the elderly has examined a variety of socioeconomic and behavioral predictors
  • 55. Symptoms And Treatment Of Infection Control Infection Control Since the manual handling task requires close contact with the patient, all handlers should follow strict infection control protocols in ICU. A recent study showed that by strictly following infection control protocols the incidence of hospital acquired infections could be reduced (8). In addition, an observational study concluded that better hospital wide infection control would reduce the number of MRSA positive patients admitted to ICU and acquisition of MRSA within ICU (9). Therefore, it is important to minimize the spread of the infection by performing the following aseptic techniques. Hand washing is the most important methods of preventing the spread of infection (7). Radiographers should wash their hands before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, there is no universal approach and best practices must be adapted to fit the epidemiology of specific ICUs and should also consider the available resources (10). Radiation safety Radiation safety of patients, radiographers and other individuals in ICU should be considered according to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle. General radiation safety principles include time, distance and shielding (7). Since the patient is male, no pregnancy check is needed. To protect the patient, the length of time that a patient remains in the path of the x ray beam should be minimized. Therefore, it is important for radiographers to avoid unnecessary repeats and thus unnecessary exposure. Gonad shielding should be used on patients if possible, which is particularly important for young patients. In addition, proper collimations and adjusted exposure factors should be applied according to patient situations to minimize radiation dose (7). Radiographers should protect themselves as well. The time spent in radiation fields should be limited by taking shifts. Radiographers should stand as far away from source as possible to increase distance between radiation source and themselves. They should stand behind appropriate radiation shields or, more commonly, wear appropriate protection (7). According to a previous study, leadapron is the most common method of radiation protection as it may
