The problem the authors are addressing is the reason correlations of implicit and explicit self esteem is
lower in Chinese culture versus western culture (Yu, Chen, Zhang, and Jin, 2015). The authors

researching this topic. They wanted a clearer understanding as to why implicit and explicit self esteem
is lower in Chinese cultures versus western cultures. The authors were successful in articulating the
problem with the gap in the literature. The authors defined and discussed in detail collectivists and
individualists (Yu et. Al., 2015), and how it plays a role in self esteem. The authors suggested people
with a more individualistic background obtain a larger amount of self awareness than people with a
collectivism background (Yu et. Al., 2015). This is due to the fact that collectivism focuses on the
outside world, whereas individualism focuses on one s self. In the article a hypothesis was clearly

PUD is not as common in pediatric patients when compared to adult incidences. The most common
cause of PUD in pediatrics is due to Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) infection (Guariso Gasparetto,
2012). Primitive ulcers, due to H. pylori, cause changes in the gastric or duodenal mucosa and alter
gastric function such as overproduction of HCl and pepsin, resulting in ulcer forming lesions (Guariso
Gasparetto, 2012). NSAIDs, stress and other extra gastric pathogenic events cause secondary ulcers
within the stomach. The underlying pathology of PUD is due to the reduction of prostaglandins that
serve as a protective mechanism on the gastric mucosa. Patients most commonly present with dull
stomach ache or pain usually after a meal. Gas, bloating, nausea and vomiting are some less common
symptoms. PUD, although rare when compared to adults, is reported worldwide in children and most
commonly identified as initiated by H. pylori infection and the use of NSAIDs occurring in the second
decade of life. Other events such as stress, shock, or major trauma can trigger acute ulcers in children
but there is a hereditary family history component that increases acid output and accelerates gastric
emptying in more than 20% of patients (Guariso Gasparetto, 2012). Although H. pylori infection is the

The Reconstruction Era beginning in 1865 marked the period where white men and recently freed
African Americans quarreled over the concept of equality on the basis of race as well as where
freedom extended to. After the Civil War, there was a power struggle between the Republican and
Democratic parties as they had extremely distinct ideas on whether African Americans should be free
and hold citizen rights. African Americans were able to achieve citizenship as well as have equality
through the 14th amendment, however the struggle did not finish here, tensions between races
remained throughout the decades and the actual use of the amendment was not widespread. During
this time, two influential men were able to experience each side of this political spectrum. Robert
Smalls was a former slave who was able to gain positions in congress and advocated for political
equality throughout the southern states. Wade Hampton, was a highly educated southern planter, war
leader and senator who never accepted racial equality, always seeking to end all attempts of reform
alongside the Democratic Party. The Reconstruction proposed by congress was meant to abolish
slavery and enforce fair labor laws. As this sounds ideal, both Smalls and Hampton were bitterly
