Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual
Punishment Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Death Penalty: Cruel and Unusual Punishment" is a
challenging endeavor that requires a delicate balance of emotional sensitivity, ethical
considerations, legal perspectives, and empirical evidence. Addressing the ethical dilemma
surrounding capital punishment necessitates a nuanced exploration of moral values, human
rights, and societal norms. Additionally, delving into the legal aspects involves an in-depth
understanding of constitutional provisions, court rulings, and evolving jurisprudence.
One must navigate through a myriad of opinions and viewpoints, considering the emotional
weight that discussions on life and death carry. Analyzing the historical context, societal
attitudes, and the global landscape of capital punishment adds complexity to the task. The writer
must remain objective while acknowledging the deeply rooted convictions on both sides of the
argument, respecting diverse cultural and religious perspectives.
Researching the subject demands a comprehensive review of academic articles, legal precedents,
and statistical data on the effectiveness and fairness of the death penalty. Interpreting and
presenting this information in a coherent and persuasive manner requires analytical skills and
critical thinking.
Moreover, constructing a compelling essay on this topic entails careful consideration of language
and tone to avoid sensationalism or trivialization of a profoundly serious matter. The writer must
strike a balance between academic rigor and empathetic engagement, fostering an environment
for thoughtful reflection rather than emotional reaction.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of the death penalty as cruel and unusual
punishment is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, emotional intelligence, and
ethical discernment. It requires traversing the complex intersections of morality, law, and public
opinion. However, navigating this intricate landscape can result in a profound exploration of one
of society's most contentious issues.

The World Of International Studies
Research Narrative In the world of international studies there are many bias parties
and individuals as there are drastically differing viewpoints regarding hot topic
issues in the field. This makes for an exciting endeavor when conducting research on
topics such as Private Military Companies as all different types of political
personalities arise when such subjects are debated over. This characteristics of the
international relations area of study also becomes apparent when authors of scholarly
journals and public websites debate over fundamental issues of the aforementioned
subject, such as the different rules for engagement and fighting overseas. When
hunting for sources for this project, I found that the community of experts commonly

Christopher Kinsey wrote an incredibly informative article on the fundamentals of
Private Military and even touches on a few closely related issues, for example,
nuclear regulation was diccues twice through the article. Georgia Southern s library
website contain some very usful links and even some videos on techniques
regarding how to add diversity in a research paper. One such tip was to find two
different articles with completely opposite viewpoints and I believe the tactic to be
very useful. Another type of strategy that one can implement when conducting
research is to find an expert in the field and discusses their stance on the topic, it is
almost like them verbally writing you an entirely different source with a refreshing
perspective. One such expert is Dr. Lubecki. He was more than willing when asked
to be interviewed for this project. He explained that regarding private militaries,
they could start another major war, he used China as one excellent example, so it
is better to limit their use until they are fully regulated. The idea was one that
never appeared in any of the research for this project. The Power to Construct
International Security was a shorter academic article that was of different origin
than the other, this idea was suggested on the library website and has served as a
great tool for finding an array of articles. The last source is one from a famous and
reputable newspaper. I thought
Observation Of Water In Sycamore Creek
On a still, warm morning our class set out on a hike to collect water and soil
samples to explore. Our water sample was collected from the first portion of
Sycamore Creek located on the Los Penasquitos Trail in Sorrento Valley.
Collecting 6 in. deep into the creek, we wanted to ensure that the sample in the
plastic test tube included soil, algae and vegetation from the floor. The sample was
allowed to sit uncapped and covered with a layer of film for 24+ hours before
microscopic observation occurred. Expectedly, the soil and a variety of dense
particles settled to the bottom of the test tube. Using a pipette we drew water from
the center of the sample, but making sure not to draw up any soil. Three separate
slides were prepared, each
Mcdonald s Pest Analysis
The foundation of McDonald s, a well known brand name in fast food industry,
dates back to 1940 when the McDonald brothers, Dick and Mac, opened a drive in
restaurant in San Bernardino, California. They came up with an idea of using an
assembly line process to serve more customers in the same amount of time. In
1948, that idea turned out to be a success as the potato chips were replaced with the
world famous French fries of McDonald s. The real person behind the company s
history, however, is Ray Kroc (picture) (Fast FoodRestaurant 2015). Thanks to Kroc
s open mind by focusing investment on advertisement, McDonald s experienced a
tremendous growth between the period of 1960s and 1970s. In 1962, McDonald s

the market share and customer retention rate. Such pressure is caused by the strong
growth and quick expansion of its major competitors. In recent years, the company s
customer satisfaction ratings are below average while in 2014, it came last in ranking
out of 21 popular U.S burger chains (Statista 2013). In addition to its big competitors,
McDonald s runs the risk of losing shares from smaller indirect competitors such as

NestlГ©, a Swiss multinational corporation, markets bottled water under various
brand names. It runs 29 bottling plants across the United States and had revenue of
$4.1 billion in 2014. (CHANGE STAT TO 2015 and CITE waiting to hear back

right to bottle and sell water from Oxbow Spring, located in Cascade Locks, Oregon.
NestlГ© s plans are to build a $50 million, 250,000 square foot bottling facility in
Cascade Locks. This would involve an exchange of water between Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife and Cascade Locks. Oregonian reporter Kelly
House explains Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife agreed to trade a portion
of its water right at Oxbow Springs to Cascade Locks in exchange for an equal
portion of the city s municipal supply. Cascade Locks would then sell the spring
water to Nestle as a municipal water customer at a discounted rate than what
Cascade Locks residents pay (Oregonian, Ballot). The exchange would allow the
city to access up to 225 gallons per minute from Oxbow Springs to sell to Nestle.
That s about 5 percent of the state s water right to the springs (OPB). There were
many opponents of Nestle building a giant plant in Cascade Locks and bottling our

Least Dangerous Assumption
Education and life skill ideas have shifted in the recent past regarding students with
learning disabilities for the better of the students. Students are now being viewed as
individuals and not just a disability. Educators are now teaching with the assumption
that the student is teachable instead of not teaching knowing the student has a
disability. The second scenario in the article The Least Dangerous Assumption is
now the norm in the educational world, at my school specifically, our motto is
simple, How will the choice I make today benefit my student tomorrow? Educators
are changing the way they approach students so that the last dangerous is not the
core thought in every detail. I believe that every person that is associated with a

Can you imagine if the educators in Helen Keller s life just gave up because her
world was dark and silent? Educators need to set IEP goals for each student, but
this does not limit their learning to an IEP. A recent example in my school was a
student in my class who no one felt could ever walk in the hall without having his
hand held, his stemming was controlling his ability to focus and so he would easily
be distracted and get lost. I accepted the challenge as he entered my room the first
day and greeted him with a smile and a plan. My original plan quickly failed but
what I found was I never gave up on him and he made progress. This same student,
a year later will still stem if his hands are free but when he holds his clipboard, he
is able to stay focused on the task. He needed me to not give up and to try new ideas
until we found what worked for him. Instructional strategies played a key role in the
outcome for this student. Instructional strategies are vital to being able to figure out
what works best for each unique lesson, student, and objective. Often I find the more

SUBJECT:Using the Accounting Standards Codification
All Staff Accountants must learn how to research GAAP accounting standards using
FASB s accounting standards Codification system. The purpose of this memo is to
provide instructions on how to research the accounting standards using the new
Codification system. Users will discover how to research the accounting standards
using the Codification system, explore the updated revenue recognition standards,
and learn how to access updates from the system.
FASB Accounting Standards Codification
The FASB Codification database is easy to use when researching the accounting
standards once the basics are fully understood. The FASB Codification database can
be accessed by logging in at http://aaahq.org/ascLogin.cfm and using the following
codes (case sensitive):Username AAA51207Password HFdU64n
The Codification uses a hierarchy to organize its subject matter. Area is the largest
collection, and then comes topic, subtopic and section. Each topic, subtopic and
section is identified with a number and a title. The numbers provide a simple way to
find specific accounting guidance. A three digit number and a title identify topics.
The first digit of the numerical identifier resembles the area of the topic. Subtopics
are either exclusive or shared. Exclusive subtopics have unique content and shared
subtopics have common content. To identify
Honor Home Program Analysis
The next few programs require a conical amount of supervision than the
aforementioned, and are generally more lenient and flexible with the length of stay.
Firstly, Y Passages program is another program specifically for men. Applicants
may have already been through one of the other programs offered by the Y , but it
is not required. These applicants generally are self sufficient, but may need
additional support to fully realize their goals and residents may stay for six to nine
months. Whereas, the Honor House is a residential programspecifically designed for
veteran men who are chemically dependent. Qualifications for this program include
the individual being deemed benefit eligible by the Lebanon Veterans Association.
Generally, the Y will accommodate the length of time per the needs of the veteran.
There is a D.U.I. II program for both men and women at the Y . This is the program
that I became most familiar with for two reasons. One being that I had been through
a similar program myself, nearly a decade ago, therefore I feel that I have a unique
opportunity with expressing genuine empathy. The second is that during my

The Industrial Revolution began in late 1700 s England. It was a time of new
methods of work, inventions, products, and more job availabilities. Thus it was one
of the most important moments in history, and it changed the world as it was known.
This resulted in the many successes of the 20th and 21st century. Without it, there
would never have been all the technology and inventions we now have today such as
computers, phones, cameras, or all the new and improved medicines. Agriculture was
no longer the main business, as factories started popping up all everywhere. This
made the job industry what it is today. Also while the Industrial Revolutionwas a great
turning point in the history of humanity, the results and conditions led to a lot of...

that the children were frequently strapped. This meant that if the children weren t
paying attention they were beaten. Even though the work was really tough the
outcome was pretty great. Through time all their hard work was eventually paid off
and the workers got a lot of luxuries in return. One positive effect was the luxuries the
factory workers received for their hard work. In The Man s Working Companion in
Document 4 it states due to all the hard the work was getting done so quick and all
the money that was earned the workers got homes that were built nicely, their
clothes were cheaper and nicer, they received many domestic utensils a, and
traveling was quicker and cheaper. This made their lives outside the factories
much more simple and luxurious. This is what really caught the eye of other
people; they wanted to be a part of the easy life. So they became a part of the
population and more work got done and more money was made. Also, in Manchester
in 1844 in Document 6, Faucher says that the workers did not have the best working
environment or the most sufficient diet; they did get pretty decent amounts of money
for their weekly allowances and got nice homes to rent. Even though this outcome
wasn t as beneficial as the previous one their life was still improved. The overall

Consequences related to pleural effusion is the fluid located in the pleural cavity
present as a space that is occupying mass, which causes a decrease in the lung
expansion. The decrease of the lung expansion on that affected side is proportionate
with the amount of fluid that is collected. This therefore results to hypoxia, dyspnea,

The Nazi Party s Failure in Convincing the German Population of Their Ideology
Jacob Nelson
AP World History
November 18, 2016
As the Nazi political party, also known as the National Socialist German Workers
Party, grew, they needed a way to keep control over and continue to influence
German citizens of their ideology. The Nazi partys propaganda is considered to be
ingenious because of it s ability to quietly influence the German citizens to the party
s hateful message. The Nazi party was also known to be effective in using the new
form of media, film, to influence the younger generation. These claims are untrue
because the Nazis were not always successful in influencing German citizens or in
the citizens had little faith for propaganda to provide answers. Other citizens flat out
did not believe the Nazi idea that the Jewish people were a subordinate race. Despite
the Nazi s near total control of the German media through film, art, posters, and the
Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, the Nazi party still failed to
convince the whole German population of their ideology.
The Nazi party s main vehicle to control German media was the Reich Ministry of
Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. The Nazi party believed that successful
propaganda focused on little brute force, and more on fear mongering. One man who
held this ideology high was Joseph Goebbels. He used the idea of fear mongering
when ordering the Sturmabteilung, also know as the
Types And Types Of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Introduction Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), also known as non insulin
dependent DM, is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by certain symptoms
such as hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and relative insulin deficiency [1].
Genetic, environmental and behavioural risk factors are considered responsible for
the predisposition of T2DM [2]. With the progression of this disease, the patient
eventually develops various short and long term complications. Thus, the patient
has to undergo multiple therapies, which reduces the quality of life as well as the
life expectancy [3]. The demographic data suggests that more than 400 million of
population, across the globe are currently suffering from this disease. In 2012, the
death toll is upto 1.5 million due to T2DM and 2.2 million people died due to high
blood glucose level [4]. The major problem with this disease is that it cannot be
completely cured, but the symptoms and complications can be controlled with diet,
exercise, medicines and health monitoring. This subsequently lands the patient on
lifetime medication that involves a huge cost. In 2012, the American Diabetes
Association released a letter suggesting an annual expenditure of $245 billion for
diabetes, which includes a direct medical cost of $176 billion and $69 billion in
reduced productivity [5]. In order to avoid and delay the short and long term
complications, the patients are prescribed with multiple treatment modalities such as
oral hypoglycemic drugs and
Irony in Catch 22 by Joseph Heller Essay
Irony in Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary Irony is 1.) the use of words to
express the opposite of what one really means 2.) incongruity between the actual
result of a sequence of events and the expected result (380) In Catch 22 the type of
irony that Heller uses is the second definition incongruity between the actual result of
a sequence of events and the expected results (Merriam Webster Dictionary380). For
example in Catch 22 Heller writes Actually, there were many officers clubs that
Yossarian had not helped build, but he was proudest of the one on Pianosa (18). You
would have expected Heller to write he was proudest of the club that he built but he

The comic formula Catch 22 sums up man s position on am absurd universe, and
the novel shows that is applies to every aspect of life: to war, to love, to business,
even to religion. (Colmer 210)
Part of the irony that envelops Catch 22 is the use of it s extremely creative
dialogue and scenes in the story. Heller places the reader in a atmosphere where
comedy shouldn t be able to exist at all, but Heller somehow puts a reverse on the
normality and creates a memorable scene. Heller invents dialogue rich in humor and
pathos in order to fit the serious religious and philosophical implications of Catch 22
into his comic novel. (Colmer 212)
The comedy that Catch 22 brings is ironic in itself, think how can you get humor out
of war which entails pain and suffering, that beats me how Heller does it but by
whatever means used Heller creates a complete package of humor and real life
occurrences which is a great fete in itself. Though it s comic formula riddle, Heller s
novel expresses the apparently inescapable human predicament. (Colmer 213)
The irony is also that Heller points to something more deep and unknown that war,
pain, and suffering itself. In this way Heller points to the inner realms of mans
consciousness and sanity to find a completely different and unique personality
Persuasive Essay On Education Reform
Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to
realize what their purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain educational reforms,
it has been hard for teachers to say what they need to say. In 40 plus states, the
math and English guidelines determine the knowledge students have to master by
the end of each grade, what they ll be tested on this year, and in many cases, how
teachers and principals will be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released
(Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be
reconsidered. Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No
Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, and Common Core State Standards math and
reading are declining. These standards tell teachers what to teach and what the
students should know by the end of the schoolyear. The reforms also evaluate teacher
performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people believe
educational reforms should not be telling teachers how to teach their students, and
others believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the
truth is educational reforms are yet to be perfected.
One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students
throughout the country should all have the same high quality standards. Issues and
Controversies states, All states should adhere to similar academic standards so that

The space was limited for all the Jews they were trying to fit. In the Nazi point of

German American Family
The translation of this final proverb is trouble shared is trouble halved joy shared
is joy doubled. As in many German households, family is considered the place of
mutual support and strength in times of crisis (Winawer Wetzel, 1996). In addition
to German households, I discovered this proverb deeply resonates with my beliefs.
Personally, I believe having a familyis having those to help alleviate any type of
trouble or sorrow and to celebrate joy when it is shared. When speaking with my
grandparents, they felt this proverb also aligns with their perceived purpose of
family, believing that family is the foundation to lean on through celebrating and
mourning. Prior to hearing my grandparents story, I assumed they were traditional in
the way they viewed roles for men and women. I figured they aligned to the majority
of cultures in that they believed the women should stay home while the men worked.
However, when speaking to them further, I realized their marriagewas created on the
belief that they equally contributed to the success of the family pulling weight where
needed and acting a partnership. To them, it didn t necessarily matter who earned the

In most German households, the husband is the head of the household and the
leader of the family; however, a wife s contribution is highly valued by her husband

essential role in the German family. They are raised with schedules and structure and
are awarded more for politeness, table manners, and household chores (Winawer

Examples Of Dehumanization In The Book Night
During the Holocaust, the Jewish population weren t even considered to be people,
they were thought of more as animals or objects. In Elie Wiesel s book Night, he
explains his experience of people turning from humans to unrecognizable creatures.
He witnesses, friends, neighbors, and normal humans being recognized as nothing
more than a filthy dog. At some point, you have to think that being told that you re
nothing more than a creature with none of its own thoughts has to just make you feel
like you are, then driving you to the point where you don t even wanna try anymore.

During World War II, the dehumanization the Germans were putting towards the Jews
lead to the Jews dehumanizing themselves. At one point, even Elie starts to
become dehumanized. I did not move. What had happened to me? My father had
just been struck, before my very eyes, and I had not flicked an eyelid. (Night
pg.37) Elie has been so dehumanized that he loses nearly all of the respect he has
for his father, and doesn t show any emotion towards his own father being beaten.
The next example of dehumanization happens on Elies way to the next camp
towards the end of World War II. Throw out all the dead! All the corpses outside! ...
Here s one! Take him! they undressed him, the survivors avidly sharing out his
clothes, then to gravediggers took him, one by the head and one by the feet, and
threw him out the wagon like a sack of flour. (Night pg.94) This shows that the Jews
are starting to act exactly how the Germans want them to, not caring for one another,
showing no respect towards the death of their own. They are dehumanizing the
corpse as well as themselves by taking their clothes and leaving the corpse to freeze

Molly Cyrus Analysis
The song Molly Cyrus by Stitches is a popular rap song among college students. I
am a big fan of rap music and Stitches is one of my favorite rappers along with
Kanye West and Gucci Mane. Normally I would not listen to a song that is so
explicit, but I literally cannot escape this song. Molly Cyrus is played at every frat
party and always comes on when I am riding with my friends in the car. After
reading the prompt for this assignment I thought I would take a closer look at the
lyrics in this vulgar song.
In the song, Stitches talks about how if he was given the opportunity to have sex
with any pop star he would choose Miley Cyrus. This song also advocates for the
use of drugs like MDMA and Cocaine. Stitches literally says I love cocaine cause it
got me feelin like I m Superman . The way that Stitches administers his drug is ...

You would think that girls would condemn this song, but most of the girls I know
have this song on their spotify playlist. This song degrades women and explicitly
promotes rape culture. This song does not say anything about Miley s looks or
personality, it reduced Miley to a piece of ass that Stitches is welcome to penetrate
whenever he pleases. Stitches literally says Ima put my d*** up in your ass and it
ain t coming out . So how could so many people like a song that is literally about
raping a celebrity? Normalizing this disgusting behavior contributes to violence
against women.
College age women are the most likely demographic to be sexually assaulted so it
is really upsetting to me that women sing and dance along to a song that promotes
rape. The song Molly Cyrus does not show women in a positive light and promotes
sexual violence. After listening closely to the lyrics I will ask people to turn off this
vulgar song next time I hear someone play it because this song will only negatively

more than 60 animal deaths (including goats, chickens, ducks, and geese) in latino

standing up with two short hands in the air. Against these claims, zoologist Ron
Magill insisted that the victims were classic canine punctures from dogs. By late
April farmers in 11 Mexican states reported dozens of vampiric attacks, most often on
goats. Mexican officials admitted that the animal casualties were genuine, but placed
the blame on coyotes and bats driven to desperation by the recent drought. Why such
attacks had never happened before in a country particularly prone to droughts was not
explained. (Wilson 150).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Mirror Of Fear Essay
The Mirror of Fear A long time ago, in a far away tropical land called Nira there
was a great kingdom, known for its power, heroes and beautiful buildings. They
were feared for all other kingdoms and anyone had ever been able to beat them in a
single battle. But the royal castle from this land had a curse, hidden inside one of
the many rooms of the place. A mirror, as old as the history of the humans and
whatever other living being there ever existed in that land, was the only thing that
feared the niran people. This old piece, as the legend says, was wrought with
swords of dead brave warriors for a blacksmith, he know his work would be

Use Of Spass In Epic Theatre By Bertolt Brecht
Drama task 1 Draft
Epic theatre literally means a piece of art derived from the ancient oral tradition,
narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a
nation so as to create a relationship with the audience by making the audience play a
part in the act of critically analyzing the scenes being performed. Bertolt Brecht
elaborates and says The one tribute we can pay the audience is to treat them as
thoroughly intelligent... (Roland, 2010). Epic theatre is able to change the way the
society views the problems. This is done through a play and so everything being
performed in front of the audience is open and they could see.
Bertolt explored theatre as a forum for political theatre. His perspectives for epic
theatre were Marxist and his intention was to present moral problems and reflecting
on the social realities. He wanted to do this by hiding the emotions of the character
and instead empathizing with the characters and become caught up ... Show more

The audience gets a chance to laugh at the characters involved in the performance
and ultimately condemn what they stand for. Use of spass as a technique is an
excellent way to break the tension in the play which might make the audience follow
the characters on their emotional journey. Bertolt used this type of technique because
he realized that while the audience is laughing, they are also thinking and that is the
whole point of epic theatre; to make them think. He also thought that comedy was an
interesting way to engage with the audience and forcing them think about issues.
Epic theatre also involves the use of multimedia to present a message. This is also
joined up with spass sometimes because the message being put out could be parodic
and so force the audience to laugh. Bertolt believed in using, music, dance, mask,
signs, song, film projection is a way to break the monotony in the
The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
In December of 1991, the world was shocked, of once seeing a super power that
was dominating the world beside the United State of America. Moreover, The
Soviet Union sudden collapse, which was composed of fifteen countries, exposed
the downfall of the political and economic rule of Communism, which was put in
place by the Bolshevik revolution in November of 1917. Many westerners predicted
and or were happy that the Communistic ruled country finally saw it s ending, which
left only one dominate nation, United State of America. The arms race with the
USA seemed to be too much for the USSR, as their economy fell into turmoil. A
strong power in the world always needs a strong economy, however Gorbachev
changed a strong economy into a staggering economy about to collapse. Another
reason why westerners could see the collapse of the Soviet Unionin the near future
was because of the external factors that played in, for example the Reagan
administration, the Afghanistan crisis and the revolutions that took place in 1989.
Additionally, the internal factors which were the corruption inside the Soviet Union
government as well as the attempted Coup d Г©tat of 1991. All these reasons played
a major role in the shocking but relieving collapse of the Soviet Union. Ardent yet
inhuman, Gorbachev efforts of reforming the communistic government seemed
promising at first, but a streamline of events led to the uneventful collapse of the
Soviet Union.

Wal Mart has also come across logistics problems due to poor roads and the
scarcity of delivery trucks. Yet another problem was the culture clashes between
the Arkansas executive and the Mexican managers. Some of these problems were
solved by trial and error, but the emergence of the North American Free Trade
Agreement in 1994 helped solve most of the problems. Among other things,
NAFTA reduced tariffs on American goods sold to Mexico from 10 percent to 3
percent. Prior to NAFTA, Wal Mart was not much of a threat to companies like
Comerci, Gigante, and Soriana, Mexico s top retailers. But once the agreement
was signed, the barriers fell and Wal Mart was on a level playing field with its
competitors which was all it needed to become number one. NAFTA encouraged
Mexico to improve its transportation infrastructure, thus helping to solve Wal Mart s
logistical problems. The signing of NAFTA also opened wider gates to foreign
investment in Mexico. Wal Mart was paying huge import fees on goods shipped to
Mexican areas like Europe and Asia. Foreign companies knew that if they built
manufacturing plants in Mexico, they could keep costs low with Mexican labor but
ship to NAFTA s free trade zone, Mexico, the United States, or Canada. As companies
began to build manufacturing plants, in Mexico, Wal Mart could buy these products
without paying the high import tariffs. An example of this tactic is Sony s flat screen
television line, Wega. Sam s Clubs in Mexico imported

recognized today as FEMA. FEMA is in charge of coordinating and managing relief
efforts for large, and/or lesser scale disaster efforts. When FEMA is notified into
action, it sets in motion a wide range of entities that collaborate together to provide
assistance. Roughly, a few types of assistants that are set into motion would include
financial and physical support.
When FEMA is called into action, they utilize a specific system called the National
Incident Management System or NIMS. The National Incident Management System
is designed as a systematic way of coordination between the public and private
sectors to manage response efforts for several types of incidents to aid in preventing
loss of life and damage. It is also designed as a standard, cooperate tool used for
managing incidents. The concepts contained herein provide for a flexible but
standardized set of incident management practices with emphasis on common
principles, a consistent approach to operational structures and supporting
mechanisms, and an integrated approach to resource management (Department of

Pros And Cons Of Niccolo Machiavelli
There is one name that is synonyms with diabolical, cunning, scheming and
unscrupulous politics, Machiavelli. Niccolo Machiavelli was a brilliant intellect of
the Italian Renaissance. He was a Diplomat and Soldier contrasted with a historian,
poet, and dramatist, which are reflected in his writing. He was a patriotic person that
wanted secure Italy, especially Florence, against all enemies and he understood that
many decisions need to make that will produce the best results. Born to Florentine
nobility in 1400; His early career was as a conducting diplomatic mission for
Florence to other Italian cities, France, and Germany. As a diplomat and soldiers,
he was privy to may atrocities and actions that had both positive and negative
results depending on the situation and how they were implemented. Niccolo
Machiavelli aimed The Prince to show how to build up a principality capable of
expelling foreign interest and restoring the independence of Italy. It was a vivid
portrayal of politics in that day and age. It was originally released in 1513 but was
not widely published and distributed until 1532, five years after Niccolo
Machiavelli death. It has both been praised and criticized at various points in
history on the pros and cons of this thesis of political tactics. William Shakespeare
even used Machiavel to emphasize in Henry VI, how evil GLOUCESTER was:
I can add colors to the chameleon, Change spaces with Proteus for advantages, And
set the murderous Machiavel to school
Many counter views have been published over the years. One of the most
comprehensive was the Anti Machiavelli. An 18th century essay by Frederick the
Great, King of Prussia and patron of Voltaire, stated: Machiavel s advice if
followed uncritically be a prince, may lead to real tragedies in the real world .
Richard Christie and Florence L Geis even developed and named a psychological
test to reflect an aspect of a person s character, the Machiavelli test ( MACH IV:
Machiavellianism Test ). This is to test for one of the Dark Triad Personality , the
others being narcissism and psychopathy. The Oxford English Dictionary described
Machiavellian as duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality, and

Nuclear Contamination And The Atomic Bomb Testing
We retired early that evening, and slept well. With the pressure we had been under
now somewhat abated, we awoke the next morning rested and refreshed, ready for
whatever the day might bring. Stapleya and Wisceya were eager to see the
wonders of Las Vegas. Estelle and Jill had told them enough to pique their
curiosity, although the fur girls insisted it was impossible and we must be kidding

impossibility, so why they would balk at one more impossible thing, I could not

Interstate 15 without stopping except to buy fuel or to answer nature s call.
Although we had eschewed Interstate highways in prior day s travels, we really had

contamination in the area from the atomic bomb testing, and the many diverse cases
of cancer in the people living here then. Our extraterrestrial visitors became curious
as to those events which led us into a long discussion of warfare on Earth and the
horrors it had brought, and the worries and politics of Nuclear power. This occupied
our conversation for many miles as we lamented the missed potential, the waste and
the suffering brought forth by the Nuclear genie. We reached the Las Vegas

The Bombing Of The Uss Maine
February 15th, 1898, the USS Maine was hit with a mine as it sat in the Havana
Harbor. There is large speculation to whether that is the truth or not. Over the
years it is still a topic of debate as of what caused the explosion. Some believe that
the Spaniards did it, others believe it was a clumsy mistake of misplaced ammo,
others believe it was a spontaneous coal fire that caught a box of ammunition on
fire. No matter the cause, the loss of the ship and 260 of her crew was devastating
to America at the time and led to strong feelings of dislike towards the Spaniards,
leading to the Spanish American war of 1898. The theories behind the explosion of
the USS Maineis mainly focused around two ideas, there are many angles that can
be viewed for the cause of this disaster and its fueling of the war that will be
examined in this paper.
The Spanish American war was a short war in which America won in three months,
two weeks and four days. The fights were extremely unbalanced as America
dominated Spain in all of the battles. At Manila Bay in the Philippines the American
fleet, under command of Commodore Dewey, destroyed the Spanish fleet and took
over the Philippines on May 1st, in which total America only had several wounded
soldiers at the end of the battle. In June, American forces landed outside of the Cuban
city of Santiago where their heavy woolen winter uniforms caused them to sweat
profusely in the intense Spanish heat. Amidst the heat they re provisions consisted of

Strangers On A Train
Strangers on a Train, directed by the well known Alfred Hitchcock, is a

who meet on a train: Guy Haines, a young, handsome, and wealthy tennis star, and
Bruno Anthony, a vile but yet charming and convincing psychopath. Shortly after
befriending the young tennis star, Bruno suggests his theory that because they dislike

The opening scene of the film exemplifies the central themes of being a double and
criss crossing through the use of formal elements such as cinematography, mise en
scene, and editing. The opening scene of Strangers on a Train can be considered
very unusual, but very fascinating for the viewing audience. The opening scene
begins with a long shot that portrays two different cabs arriving at the train station
and dropping off their two particular passengers. As the passengers step out of their
cabs, a low angled camera focuses on their feet, cutting from one person to the next.
The camera keeps cutting back and forth between the pairs of legs as the two
characters walk through the train station and to the train. This type of a filming is a
match on action, which splices two different views of the same action together at the
same moment in the movement, making it seem to continue uninterrupted. This part
of the scene also uses a 180 degree rule as the camera always shoots the feet from the
same side. One pair of feet are walking to the left
Charlemagne Essay
After reading two versions of The Life of Charlemagne , one written by a person
who lived with Charlemagne, and one who didn t, it is evident that Charlemagne is
portrayed in a negative way by the author, the Monk of St. Gall, and in a positive
way by Einhard. Einhard was very close to Charlemagne. He lived at the same time
and with Charlemagne himself. His version of The Life of Charlemagne was writing
right after his death. The Monkof St. Gall wrote his version more than 70 years after
Charlemagne s death. He did not live with or even at the same time as Charlemagne.
This is probably one of the reasons the view on the ruler are completely different.

Altogether, Charlemagne s rule was a successful one and Charlemagne rarely, if ever,
made mistakes according to Einhard.
In St. Gall s version of The Life of Charlemagne the author does not give any
background information at all. The reason St. Gall is writing this version of
Charlemagne s life is to blame him for the attacks going on at present times. He
gives no information about Charlemagne s family or ancestors. The author
immediately begins to start his complaining about how Charlemagne basically did
nothing good for the empire he was ruling. After the omnipotent ruler of the world,
who orders alike the fate of kingdoms and the course of time, had broken the feet of
iron and clay in one noble statue, to wit the Romans, he raised by the hands of the
illustrious Charles the golden head of another, not less admirable, among the Franks .
At the beginning of this quote, Einhard is praising Charlemagne. St. Gall is placing
Charlemagne at the same level as the Romans, saying God has raised up
Charlemagne to succeed them. Then, at the end of the quote, it is unclear why St.
Gall says that the bishop falls of his horse. To me, this seems some sort of a negative
passage making the reader think Charlemagne is somewhat incompetent. This being
the first entry in this author s text, it immediately gives off a negative feeling towards
Charlemagne. The reader immediately has a negative bias towards Charlemagne

The many rumors regarding the flying disc became a reality yesterday when the

to enter a driveway. At this time defendant Robert Phillips, an employee of defendant
Yellow Cab Company, was driving a company owned taxicab southbound on
Alvarado. He passed through the intersection, and collided with the plaintiff s car,
resulting in personal injuries to the plaintiff, and damage to the car.
The trial court, sitting without a jury, found that defendant Phillips was traveling at a
speed that was unsafe under the conditions, and that the traffic light for his lane was
yellow at the time. It also found, however, that plaintiff s left turn across the
southbound lanes of Alvarado constituted an immediate hazard. The trial court held

ISSUE: Should contributory negligence be a complete bar to recovery?
RULING: No. Judgment was reversed.
RATIONALE: The court held that the all or nothing rule of contributory negligence
ought to be superseded by a rule which assesses liability in proportion to fault, since
the doctrine is inequitable for failing to distribute responsibility in a proportional
manner.
The court noted that to date 25 states had eliminated the all or nothing rule of
contributory negligence and had instead enacted general apportionment statutes
calculated to assess liability in proportion to fault. In 1973 these states were joined
by Florida, which reached the same result by judicial decision. [Hoffman v. Jones
(Fla. 1973) 280 So.2d 431.] The court was convinced that logic and justice argued
against the retention of the contributory negligence doctrine, and that it should be
replaced by a system under which liability for negligence is assessed in direct
proportion to respective
Sea Power In Ww2
The Battle of Midway affected the world in many ways and how sea power would
affect the Second World War. Sea power and strategy would affect the world in just
a span of a couple of days during the battle of midway. We had a severe
disadvantage, so we used the power of our carriers and luck to change history in a
moment. McClusky and Waldron attacked miraculously at the same time and
destroyed the Kido Butai. We were losing the war, and we failed on many attempts
to win the battle early, but it was not working out. Europe was getting ravished and
if we lost this battle if would essentially affect the outcome of the war. It led
America to spend more resources on the Europe side of the war, and let Nimitz to
create a force and lead his forces... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Japanese sent subs to Dutch Harbor. They sent some of their forces to a Dutch
Harbor where a shipyard was and some minor forces were. They had 10 task forces
that were sent to midway, and the carriers were in the back. Before the battle had
started, the Japanese stopped communication between each other, they stopped the
radio dialog between each other to stop the chances of the Americans on hearing
their plans. There was a fog of war that was over the Japanese when they started this,
they did not help each other, if the Americans mobilized to strike. The Americans
made a huge stride to victory when they figured out the messages from the Japanese
commander Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku, Japanese fleet commander, chose to invade
a target relatively close to Pearl Harbor to draw out the American fleet, calculating
that when the United States began its counterattack, the Japanese would be prepared
to crush them. Instead, an American intelligence breakthrough the solving of the
Japanese fleet codes enabled Pacific Fleet commander Admiral Chester W. Nimitz to
understand the exact Japanese plans. Nimitz placed available U.S. carriers in
position to surprise the Japanese moving up for their preparatory air strikes on
Midway Island itself (John Prados).

When the company is going to bankrupt, the loss of the company, the common
stockholder have the right to not responsibility for the loss facing by the company.
It is because a corporation is a separate legal entity under the law. For example an
individual invest RM10, 000 in a company and the company going bankrupt the
individual will not pay the debt behalf the company.
WHY PEOPLE INEVEST IN SHARES?
Most of the people rises capital and build wealth by invest in common shares. The
value of money today is worth than the money tomorrow, so the money invested
will not depreciate in value. The investor want to make profit by holding the shares
until the shares price is above the price they purchase. For example, 15 June 2010
an investor bought 200 shares of Blue Company at RM50 each share. On 18 May
2011, the investor sells 200 shares of Blue Company at RM70 each shares. The
investor will gain RM4, 000 [(200x70) (200x50)] on the shares the investor bought.
Some investor invest in common shares, because they want an extra income. The
investor can get dividend income by investing in shares. Dividend income is
distribute of the earning of the company to the investor. Most of the company will
pay the dividend to the investor when their company earning money. As an example,
Pink Company pay RM0.50 quarterly dividend to company shareholders, the shares
is RM 50 each shares. All the investors receive 4% [(0.50x4)/50] of purchases price
of stock.

Power In Shonda Rhimes Scandal
The definition of power has been argued and altered for centuries. While power had
been commonly related with wealth and social status years ago, the word has now
been more associated with a certain amount of control. Even though the description
of power has been altered frequently over the course of time, the basic depiction in
the media seems to stay the same: men portray the powerful figures, such as
presidents and CEOs while women represent the softer and almost weak roles. This
is where Shonda Rhimes breaks the mold. Rhimes uses these preconceived notions in
order to make Scandal a show that displays the unfair representations of power
between men and women by contradicting many of the commonly known archetypes
in today s television shows.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Scandal, Rhimes shows that masculinity is not a requirement for a man to be in
control by constantly breaking the connection between masculinity and power. For
example, the president, Fitzgerald Grant or Fitz, has tantrums, whether from anger
or sorrow, that mimics those of a small child. These emotional and often dramatic
fits diminish Fitz s assumed strength by presenting the man that holds one of the
most powerful most positions in the world as emotionally weak. This resembles
Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner s 60 Minutes interview, in
which he broke into tears after discussing his progress from being the boy working
for his father to becoming Speaker of the House. After the interview, various media
sources described Boehner s emotional breakdown as blubbering, whimpering, [and]
sobbing (Gesualdi, 311) and also gave him nicknames, such as the weeper of the
house (Gesualdi). Rhimes also tackles masculinity in respects to what is expected of a
Ethical Conduct In Short-Writing And Analysis
An attorney s reputation is built by the care taken in brief writing. The judge
generally is influenced by an attorney s brief than by any other form of argument
made; therefore, the brief carries persuasive impact, for good or bad, not only for a
current client but all future ones. Linda H. Edwards, Legal Writing and Analysis,
167 (4th ed. 2015). Although the six duties of ethical conduct in brief writing are
equally relevant, I have placed six duties of ethical conduct in the following order, in
the order of highest importance to least importance. 1.A brief writer must not
knowingly make a false statement of law. 2.A brief writer must not knowingly make
a false statement of fact. 3.A brief writer must not intentionally disregard filing
requirement or other obligations imposed by court rules. 4.A brief writer must not
knowingly fail to disclose to the court directly adverse legal authority in the

A brief writer must not knowingly make a false statement of law. 2.A brief writer

Ethical conduct and legal accountability go hand in hand with integrity. According to
James M. Thomas, founder of the Alliance for Integrity, The standards of professional
integrity, have a second source, those that legal practitioners impose upon themselves.
They are the values, convictions, ideas, and ideals that fix how one practices, as
distinguished from what one practices. James M. Thomas, Integrity: The
Indispensable Element, 64 (2010). Thomas says that attorneys who uphold integrity
share nine crucial traits; furthermore, he admits the price tag for maintaining integrity
can be high. Id. He adds that, Pared to its bed rock essence integrity is the capacity to
stand by right ideas, even when doing so is inconvenient, difficult, or unprofitable;
yet, its payoffs and benefits are unmistakable.
Harmonielehre Analysis

The continued relevance of the Symphonic genera through Musical Synthesis In John
Adams Harmonielehre
In todays society a musician must grapple with many different artistic realities. The
current musical landscape includes many different styles from music in pop culture
to music existing predominantly in the academic field. In this vast sea of musical
styles the compositional career of John Adams was born. In this ever changing era
of musical styles John Adams has created a style for himself titled Post Minimalism.
The Post Minimalistic music of John Adams was derived through many cultural and
musical influences of the 1900 s and early 2000 s, specifically as a reaction to
Schoenberg s Viennese school. John Adams orchestral work Harmonielehre shows a
conscious reaction to Schoenberg s serial music and a synthesis of many styles of
music while including serial elements from the Viennese school. This connection
makes the work of Adams different from other minimalistic composers at the same
time ushering an era of New or Post Minimalism, creating an accessibility in both the
symphonic orchestra and minimalism repetoire that did not exist. As with many
composers the experiences in Adams past shaped much of his music, specifically his
development of Post Minimalism style along with his synthesis of several musical
styles. John Adams was born and raised in New England and partook in marching
band and community orchestra in his early years. He then

Introduction to Intellectual Disability (ID) When learning about Intellectual
Disability (ID) it is important to explore the subject with people that work with
students of ID. The (SPED) special education team placed together for a student in
order to determine the students individual education plan (IEP). This SPED team
consist of: Special Educator: Mr. Richard Franklin, General Educator: Ms. Rama
Smith (Spelling, Literature), Speech Therapist: Mrs. LuDonna Martin, Principal: Mr.

He fears that some educators were doing this to get these students out of their
classrooms and were using the definition of ID to do it. Ms. Rama the regular
classroom educator spoke of her trouble with the definition. She indicated that the
definition not only identifies ID, but allowed for other disabilities as well. The
definition states that students with mental retardation may be deficient in the
following areas: communication, physical care, home environment, social skills, self
direction, community use, health and safety, limited academic ability, leisure and
work. If a student has any two of these deficiencies then they qualify as being ID
(Thomas, 1996). Both educators expressed a similar problem with the classification
of students with ID. The classification of students with ID is not universal, meaning
that a student from another state could have mild/moderate ID and not be identified
according to that states classification. This can lead to a student not getting the
assistance that they need. They expressed that it would better serve students with ID
if one set of classification were used in the entire United States. When it came time to
speak with the educators about the characteristics of ID they had very few concerns.

Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual Punishment Essay.pdf

  • 1. Death Penalty Cruel And Unusual Punishment Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "Death Penalty: Cruel and Unusual Punishment" is a challenging endeavor that requires a delicate balance of emotional sensitivity, ethical considerations, legal perspectives, and empirical evidence. Addressing the ethical dilemma surrounding capital punishment necessitates a nuanced exploration of moral values, human rights, and societal norms. Additionally, delving into the legal aspects involves an in-depth understanding of constitutional provisions, court rulings, and evolving jurisprudence. One must navigate through a myriad of opinions and viewpoints, considering the emotional weight that discussions on life and death carry. Analyzing the historical context, societal attitudes, and the global landscape of capital punishment adds complexity to the task. The writer must remain objective while acknowledging the deeply rooted convictions on both sides of the argument, respecting diverse cultural and religious perspectives. Researching the subject demands a comprehensive review of academic articles, legal precedents, and statistical data on the effectiveness and fairness of the death penalty. Interpreting and presenting this information in a coherent and persuasive manner requires analytical skills and critical thinking. Moreover, constructing a compelling essay on this topic entails careful consideration of language and tone to avoid sensationalism or trivialization of a profoundly serious matter. The writer must strike a balance between academic rigor and empathetic engagement, fostering an environment for thoughtful reflection rather than emotional reaction. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of the death penalty as cruel and unusual punishment is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, emotional intelligence, and ethical discernment. It requires traversing the complex intersections of morality, law, and public opinion. The World Of International Studies Research Narrative In the world of international studies there are many bias parties and individuals as there are drastically differing viewpoints regarding hot topic issues in the field. This makes for an exciting endeavor when conducting research on topics such as Private Military Companies as all different types of political personalities arise when such subjects are debated over. This characteristics of the international relations area of study also becomes apparent when authors of scholarly journals and public websites debate over fundamental issues of the aforementioned subject, such as the different rules for engagement and fighting overseas. Christopher Kinsey wrote an incredibly informative article on the fundamentals of Private Military and even touches on a few closely related issues, for example, nuclear regulation was diccues twice through the article. Georgia Southern s library website contain some very usful links and even some videos on techniques regarding how to add diversity in a research paper. One such tip was to find two different articles with completely opposite viewpoints and I believe the tactic to be very useful. Another type of strategy that one can implement when conducting research is to find an expert in the field and discusses their stance on the topic, it is almost like them verbally writing you an entirely different source with a refreshing perspective. One such expert is Dr. Lubecki. He was more than willing when asked to be interviewed for this project. He explained that regarding private militaries, they could start another major war, he used China as one excellent example, so it is better to limit their use until they are fully regulated. The idea was one that never appeared in any of the research for this project. The Power to Construct International Security was a shorter academic article that was of different origin than the other, this idea was suggested on the library website and has served as a great tool for finding an array of articles. The sample was allowed to sit uncapped and covered with a layer of film for 24+ hours before microscopic observation occurred. Expectedly, the soil and a variety of dense particles settled to the bottom of the test tube. Using a pipette we drew water from the center of the sample, but making sure not to draw up any soil. Mcdonald s Pest Analysis The foundation of McDonald s, a well known brand name in fast food industry, dates back to 1940 when the McDonald brothers, Dick and Mac, opened a drive in restaurant in San Bernardino, California. They came up with an idea of using an assembly line process to serve more customers in the same amount of time. In 1948, that idea turned out to be a success as the potato chips were replaced with the world famous French fries of McDonald s. The real person behind the company s history, however, is Ray Kroc (picture) (Fast FoodRestaurant 2015). Since 2008, NestlГ© has been trying to obtain the right to bottle and sell water from Oxbow Spring, located in Cascade Locks, Oregon. NestlГ© s plans are to build a $50 million, 250,000 square foot bottling facility in Cascade Locks. This would involve an exchange of water between Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Cascade Locks. Oregonian reporter Kelly House explains Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife agreed to trade a portion of its water right at Oxbow Springs to Cascade Locks in exchange for an equal portion of the city s municipal supply. Cascade Locks would then sell the spring water to Nestle as a municipal water customer at a discounted rate than what Cascade Locks residents pay (Oregonian, Ballot). The exchange would allow the city to access up to 225 gallons per minute from Oxbow Springs to sell to Nestle. That s about 5 percent of the state s water right to the springs (OPB). The Nazi Party s Failure in Convincing the German Population of Their Ideology Jacob Nelson AP World History November 18, 2016 As the Nazi political party, also known as the National Socialist German Workers Party, grew, they needed a way to keep control over and continue to influence German citizens of their ideology. The Nazi partys propaganda is considered to be ingenious because of it s ability to quietly influence the German citizens to the party s hateful message. The Nazi party was also known to be effective in using the new form of media, film, to influence the younger generation. These claims are untrue because the Nazis were not always successful in influencing German citizens or in the citizens had little faith for propaganda to provide answers. Other citizens flat out did not believe the Nazi idea that the Jewish people were a subordinate race. Despite the Nazi s near total control of the German media through film, art, posters, and the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda, the Nazi party still failed to convince the whole German population of their ideology. The Nazi party s main vehicle to control German media was the Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. The Nazi party believed that successful propaganda focused on little brute force, and more on fear mongering. One man who held this ideology high was Joseph Goebbels. He used the idea of fear mongering when ordering the Sturmabteilung, also know as the

Types And Types Of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Introduction Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), also known as non insulin dependent DM, is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by certain symptoms such as hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, and relative insulin deficiency [1]. Genetic, environmental and behavioural risk factors are considered responsible for the predisposition of T2DM [2]. With the progression of this disease, the patient eventually develops various short and long term complications. Thus, the patient has to undergo multiple therapies, which reduces the quality of life as well as the life expectancy [3]. The demographic data suggests that more than 400 million of population, across the globe are currently suffering from this disease. In 2012, the death toll is upto 1.5 million due to T2DM and 2.2 million people died due to high blood glucose level [4]. The major problem with this disease is that it cannot be completely cured, but the symptoms and complications can be controlled with diet, exercise, medicines and health monitoring. This subsequently lands the patient on lifetime medication that involves a huge cost. In 2012, the American Diabetes Association released a letter suggesting an annual expenditure of $245 billion for diabetes, which includes a direct medical cost of $176 billion and $69 billion in reduced productivity [5]. The comic formula Catch 22 sums up man s position on am absurd universe, and the novel shows that is applies to every aspect of life: to war, to love, to business, even to religion. (Colmer 210) Part of the irony that envelops Catch 22 is the use of it s extremely creative dialogue and scenes in the story. Heller places the reader in a atmosphere where comedy shouldn t be able to exist at all, but Heller somehow puts a reverse on the normality and creates a memorable scene. Heller invents dialogue rich in humor and pathos in order to fit the serious religious and philosophical implications of Catch 22 into his comic novel. (Colmer 212) The comedy that Catch 22 brings is ironic in itself, think how can you get humor out of war which entails pain and suffering, that beats me how Heller does it but by whatever means used Heller creates a complete package of humor and real life occurrences which is a great fete in itself. Though it s comic formula riddle, Heller s novel expresses the apparently inescapable human predicament. (Colmer 213) The irony is also that Heller points to something more deep and unknown that war, pain, and suffering itself. In this way Heller points to the inner realms of mans consciousness and sanity to find a completely different and unique personality
  • 14. Persuasive Essay On Education Reform Educational reform is yet to be perfected. Teachers shape the minds of students to realize what their purpose is in life. Lately, because of certain educational reforms, it has been hard for teachers to say what they need to say. In 40 plus states, the math and English guidelines determine the knowledge students have to master by the end of each grade, what they ll be tested on this year, and in many cases, how teachers and principals will be rated at their jobs once those test scores are released (Strauss). Most educational reforms are adopting standardized testing and should be reconsidered. Statistics even show that since we have taken part in reforms like No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, and Common Core State Standards math and reading are declining. These standards tell teachers what to teach and what the students should know by the end of the schoolyear. The reforms also evaluate teacher performance by how well the students learn the information. Some people believe educational reforms should not be telling teachers how to teach their students, and others believe that the reforms are absolutely fine the way they are. However the truth is educational reforms are yet to be perfected. One point of view a person could have about educational reform is that students throughout the country should all have the same high quality standards. As in many German households, family is considered the place of mutual support and strength in times of crisis (Winawer Wetzel, 1996). In addition to German households, I discovered this proverb deeply resonates with my beliefs. Personally, I believe having a familyis having those to help alleviate any type of trouble or sorrow and to celebrate joy when it is shared. When speaking with my grandparents, they felt this proverb also aligns with their perceived purpose of family, believing that family is the foundation to lean on through celebrating and mourning. Prior to hearing my grandparents story, I assumed they were traditional in the way they viewed roles for men and women. I figured they aligned to the majority of cultures in that they believed the women should stay home while the men worked. • 21. Molly Cyrus Analysis The song Molly Cyrus by Stitches is a popular rap song among college students. I am a big fan of rap music and Stitches is one of my favorite rappers along with Kanye West and Gucci Mane. Normally I would not listen to a song that is so explicit, but I literally cannot escape this song. Molly Cyrus is played at every frat party and always comes on when I am riding with my friends in the car. After reading the prompt for this assignment I thought I would take a closer look at the lyrics in this vulgar song. In the song, Stitches talks about how if he was given the opportunity to have sex with any pop star he would choose Miley Cyrus. This song also advocates for the use of drugs like MDMA and Cocaine. This song does not say anything about Miley s looks or personality, it reduced Miley to a piece of ass that Stitches is welcome to penetrate whenever he pleases. Stitches literally says Ima put my d*** up in your ass and it ain t coming out . So how could so many people like a song that is literally about raping a celebrity? Normalizing this disgusting behavior contributes to violence against women. College age women are the most likely demographic to be sexually assaulted so it is really upsetting to me that women sing and dance along to a song that promotes rape. The song Molly Cyrus does not show women in a positive light and promotes sexual violence. After listening closely to the lyrics I will ask people to turn off this vulgar song next time I hear someone play it because this song will only negatively impact my

One woman claimed to have seen a dog like figure standing up with two short hands in the air. Against these claims, zoologist Ron Magill insisted that the victims were classic canine punctures from dogs. By late April farmers in 11 Mexican states reported dozens of vampiric attacks, most often on goats. Use Of Spass In Epic Theatre By Bertolt Brecht Drama task 1 Draft Epic theatre literally means a piece of art derived from the ancient oral tradition, narrating the deeds and adventures of heroic or legendary figures or the history of a nation so as to create a relationship with the audience by making the audience play a part in the act of critically analyzing the scenes being performed. Moreover, The Soviet Union sudden collapse, which was composed of fifteen countries, exposed the downfall of the political and economic rule of Communism, which was put in place by the Bolshevik revolution in November of 1917. Many westerners predicted and or were happy that the Communistic ruled country finally saw it s ending, which left only one dominate nation, United State of America. The arms race with the USA seemed to be too much for the USSR, as their economy fell into turmoil. A strong power in the world always needs a strong economy, however Gorbachev changed a strong economy into a staggering economy about to collapse. Another reason why westerners could see the collapse of the Soviet Unionin the near future was because of the external factors that played in, for example the Reagan administration, the Afghanistan crisis and the revolutions that took place in 1989. Additionally, the internal factors which were the corruption inside the Soviet Union government as well as the attempted Coup d Г©tat of 1991. Wal Mart has also come across logistics problems due to poor roads and the scarcity of delivery trucks. Yet another problem was the culture clashes between the Arkansas executive and the Mexican managers. Some of these problems were solved by trial and error, but the emergence of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1994 helped solve most of the problems. Among other things, NAFTA reduced tariffs on American goods sold to Mexico from 10 percent to 3 percent. Prior to NAFTA, Wal Mart was not much of a threat to companies like Comerci, Gigante, and Soriana, Mexico s top retailers. But once the agreement was signed, the barriers fell and Wal Mart was on a level playing field with its competitors which was all it needed to become number one. NAFTA encouraged Mexico to improve its transportation infrastructure, thus helping to solve Wal Mart s logistical problems. The signing of NAFTA also opened wider gates to foreign investment in Mexico. Wal Mart was paying huge import fees on goods shipped to Mexican areas like Europe and Asia. Foreign companies knew that if they built manufacturing plants in Mexico, they could keep costs low with Mexican labor but ship to NAFTA s free trade zone, Mexico, the United States, or Canada. The Americans made a huge stride to victory when they figured out the messages from the Japanese commander Admiral Yamamoto Isoroku, Japanese fleet commander, chose to invade a target relatively close to Pearl Harbor to draw out the American fleet, calculating that when the United States began its counterattack, the Japanese would be prepared to crush them. Instead, an American intelligence breakthrough the solving of the Japanese fleet codes enabled Pacific Fleet commander Admiral Chester W. Nimitz to understand the exact Japanese plans. Nimitz placed available U.S. carriers in position to surprise the Japanese moving up for their preparatory air strikes on Midway Island itself (John Prados).

  • 42. Power In Shonda Rhimes Scandal The definition of power has been argued and altered for centuries. While power had been commonly related with wealth and social status years ago, the word has now been more associated with a certain amount of control. Even though the description of power has been altered frequently over the course of time, the basic depiction in the media seems to stay the same: men portray the powerful figures, such as presidents and CEOs while women represent the softer and almost weak roles. This is where Shonda Rhimes breaks the mold. Rhimes uses these preconceived notions in order to make Scandal a show that displays the unfair representations of power between men and women by contradicting many of the commonly known archetypes in today s television shows.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Scandal, Rhimes shows that masculinity is not a requirement for a man to be in control by constantly breaking the connection between masculinity and power. For example, the president, Fitzgerald Grant or Fitz, has tantrums, whether from anger or sorrow, that mimics those of a small child. These emotional and often dramatic fits diminish Fitz s assumed strength by presenting the man that holds one of the most powerful most positions in the world as emotionally weak. This resembles Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner s 60 Minutes interview, in which he broke into tears after discussing his progress from being the boy working for his father to becoming Speaker of the House. After the interview, various media sources described Boehner s emotional breakdown as blubbering, whimpering, [and] sobbing (Gesualdi, 311) and also gave him nicknames, such as the weeper of the house (Gesualdi). Rhimes also tackles masculinity in respects to what is expected of a
  • 43. Ethical Conduct In Short-Writing And Analysis An attorney s reputation is built by the care taken in brief writing. The judge generally is influenced by an attorney s brief than by any other form of argument made; therefore, the brief carries persuasive impact, for good or bad, not only for a current client but all future ones. Linda H. Edwards, Legal Writing and Analysis, 167 (4th ed. 2015). Although the six duties of ethical conduct in brief writing are equally relevant, I have placed six duties of ethical conduct in the following order, in the order of highest importance to least importance. 1.A brief writer must not knowingly make a false statement of law. 2.A brief writer must not knowingly make a false statement of fact. 3.A brief writer must not intentionally disregard filing requirement or other obligations imposed by court rules. 4.A brief writer must not knowingly fail to disclose to the court directly adverse legal authority in the controlling... Ethical conduct and legal accountability go hand in hand with integrity. According to James M. Thomas, founder of the Alliance for Integrity, The standards of professional integrity, have a second source, those that legal practitioners impose upon themselves. They are the values, convictions, ideas, and ideals that fix how one practices, as distinguished from what one practices. James M. Thomas, Integrity: The Indispensable Element, 64 (2010). Thomas says that attorneys who uphold integrity share nine crucial traits; furthermore, he admits the price tag for maintaining integrity can be high. Id. He adds that, Pared to its bed rock essence integrity is the capacity to stand by right ideas, even when doing so is inconvenient, difficult, or unprofitable; yet, its payoffs and benefits are unmistakable.

Harmonielehre Analysis Jonathan Milke The continued relevance of the Symphonic genera through Musical Synthesis In John Adams Harmonielehre In todays society a musician must grapple with many different artistic realities. The current musical landscape includes many different styles from music in pop culture to music existing predominantly in the academic field. In this vast sea of musical styles the compositional career of John Adams was born. In this ever changing era of musical styles John Adams has created a style for himself titled Post Minimalism. The Post Minimalistic music of John Adams was derived through many cultural and musical influences of the 1900 s and early 2000 s, specifically as a reaction to Schoenberg s Viennese school. John Adams orchestral work Harmonielehre shows a conscious reaction to Schoenberg s serial music and a synthesis of many styles of music while including serial elements from the Viennese school. This connection makes the work of Adams different from other minimalistic composers at the same time ushering an era of New or Post Minimalism, creating an accessibility in both the symphonic orchestra and minimalism repetoire that did not exist. As with many composers the experiences in Adams past shaped much of his music, specifically his development of Post Minimalism style along with his synthesis of several musical styles. John Adams was born and raised in New England and partook in marching band and community orchestra in his early years. He then

Ms. Rama the regular classroom educator spoke of her trouble with the definition. She indicated that the definition not only identifies ID, but allowed for other disabilities as well. The definition states that students with mental retardation may be deficient in the following areas: communication, physical care, home environment, social skills, self direction, community use, health and safety, limited academic ability, leisure and work. If a student has any two of these deficiencies then they qualify as being ID (Thomas, 1996). Both educators expressed a similar problem with the classification of students with ID. The classification of students with ID is not universal, meaning that a student from another state could have mild/moderate ID and not be identified according to that states classification. This can lead to a student not getting the assistance that they need. They expressed that it would better serve students with ID if one set of classification were used in the entire United States. When it came time to speak with the educators about the characteristics of ID they had very few concerns. The
