Nein, in diesem Vortrag soll es nicht um das Hypen eines neuen Modewortes gehen oder um das Bashen bestehender. Es geht eher um Entmystifizierung dieser.
Stafford Beer hat 1959 das erste Mal sein Viable System Model (VSM) erwähnt. Er hat sich nämlich die Frage gestellt, welche Funktionen lebensfähigen Systemen Lebensfähigkeit verleihen. Er ist davon ausgegangen, das gemeinsame Muster erkennbar sein müssen, egal ob man von Menschen, Tieren oder eben von Unternehmen spricht.
Interessant, oder? Ganz besonders dann, wenn man sich die unzähligen Debatten im Netz anschaut, in denen es um neue Formen der Führung und Zusammenarbeit in Unternehmen geht. Dort fallen Begriffe wie Hierarchie, Holacracy, Agil, Lean, Netzwerk, Duales Betriebssystem etc. Vom VSM hört man wenig.
Anfang der 70-er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts hat Salvador Allende die Ideen des VSMs eingesetzt, um die Volkswirtschaft in seinem Land lebensfähig zu gestalten. Dafür hat er eigens Stafford Beer als Impulsgeber eingeladen. Letztendlich war das Projekt so erfolgreich, dass, wie ja bekannt, der Putsch durch Pinochet angeordnet wurde.
