OBSERVATION TASK 1:
The Learner:
a) Observe an English lesson.
b) Diagram with the seating arrangement in the classroom
c) The teacher interacts with every student because when she asks questions about
the topic of the lesson, she uses the names of students.
d) As the teacher’s use of names allows you to identify the learners, name each box
on your diagram.

e) Make notes of the actual attending strategy used by the teacher (e.g.
Attending strategies: name, nod, smile, eye contact, reprimanding look,
touch or others)
The teacher uses a lot of eye contact at the moment of interacts with students. Besides,
the teacher uses body language, smile at students and uses the name of each pupil in
order to identify each of them.
f) Note on your diagram whether the students are male or female and any
other distinguishing characteristics, such as difference in age, nationality.
There are 22 students and 15 of them are girls and 7 of them are boys. All of
them are Chilean students and the range of age among students is between 18
and 20 years old.
After the lesson:
The teacher was most of the time in the same position; she was sitting and taking notes.
The teacher stranded up at the moment of close the lesson.
The teacher did not move around the class.
The teacher was always paying attention to the learners and she projected to all the
learners, because all of them could heard and seen her.
a) What have you learned from this observation that you could apply to your
own teaching?
From our point of view, this was a good listening class because the teacher asked
students about the answer of each exercise. Besides, at the end of the lesson she asked
students about the number of correct answer they had in order to know the results of
students.
Finally, what we learnt from this class was how to integrate students in a listening
lesson, because that lesson had teacher talking time and student-teacher talking time.
Thus, there was an interaction between teacher and students, and every student had the
opportunity to participate in class.

EnglishTeachingProgramme TeachingExperience I Tuesday, August 12, 2014 e) Make notes of the actual attending strategy used by the teacher (e.g. Attending strategies: name, nod, smile, eye contact, reprimanding look, touch or others) The teacher uses a lot of eye contact at the moment of interacts with students. Besides, the teacher uses body language, smile at students and uses the name of each pupil in order to identify each of them. f) Note on your diagram whether the students are male or female and any other distinguishing characteristics, such as difference in age, nationality. There are 22 students and 15 of them are girls and 7 of them are boys. All of them are Chilean students and the range of age among students is between 18 and 20 years old. After the lesson: The teacher was most of the time in the same position; she was sitting and taking notes. The teacher stranded up at the moment of close the lesson. The teacher did not move around the class. The teacher was always paying attention to the learners and she projected to all the learners, because all of them could heard and seen her. a) What have you learned from this observation that you could apply to your own teaching? From our point of view, this was a good listening class because the teacher asked students about the answer of each exercise. Besides, at the end of the lesson she asked students about the number of correct answer they had in order to know the results of students. Finally, what we learnt from this class was how to integrate students in a listening lesson, because that lesson had teacher talking time and student-teacher talking time. Thus, there was an interaction between teacher and students, and every student had the opportunity to participate in class.
