It is not only important to create a change friendly environment, it is also important

6. The Realm Of Military Power And International Security
Essay
Socialization in the realm of military power and international security The fact that
states are socialized through endogenous and exogenous variables is impossible to
deny. This socialization, Finnemore argues, leads states to accept new norms,
values and perceptions of interest. These shifts are frequently felt on a global scale
as perceptions of interest alter state relationships and vice versa. Military interests
are merely a reflection of states interests; therefore, these newly adopted norms and
values inevitably seep into the realm of military power and international security.
However, military values prioritize the security of the state first and foremost,
therefore, certain norms and values are either accepted later than the rest of a state
s society, or simply never accepted. An example of this would be women not being
allowed to hold front line infantry positions or certain high level special operations
roles in the military. Women not being able to hold certain positions in part due to
a fear that they will interfere with group cohesion , does not accurately reflect the
social norms and values we value so highly as a country; such as gender equality.
International security is also heavily affected by adoptions of new values and norms
seeing as states interact with other states, based on their perceptions of them. These
perceptions are in turn shaped by the shared norms and values of that state s society
and how their interests are perceived. Norms are social

Matthew Arnold is one of the many famous and prolific writers from the nineteenth

#61505;The Buried Life. #61504; Although the exact date of composition is

Wood refers to this cable as the most important single document in the formation of
New Zealand foreign policy. McIntyre speaks of this moment as when the phase of
dual dependency began . Lissington looks at this proposal as a new phase in New
Zealand s foreign policy . The reason for its remarkable significance is that it was
the first time New Zealand looked beyond Britain for a formal security alliance. It

He explains that it is a common misconception that crossdressers and transgenders are
the same, when crossdressers continue to identify personally as their birth gender, and
transgender individuals identify as a gender other than what they were assigned at
birth, typically experiencing body dysphoria as well. This could certainly be
contributing to the issue of transphobia as well, causing confusion about whether
someone is just pretending to be another gender, or actually identifies as such.
Misconceptions and confusion such as this could be adding fuel to the fire over the
controversy of transgenders and bathroom laws, people believing that individuals
who are the gender they dress like are simply acting, doing it for personal enjoyment
or deceiving. Beemyn s purpose is to show how early on gender nonconformity has
lasted, and to get rid of misconceptions as to what being transgender actually

The Scottsboro Boys was a nationally controversial case; and it all began with nine
African American men and two white women aboard a train. The train ride began
on March 25, 1931. A fight erupted between the African American men and the
white men on board the train, and the African American men won and forced the
white men off. After news of the fight spread to Paint Rock, Alabama, all able men
with weapons waited for the train to arrive for its mortar stop. When the train
pulled in, a racial confrontation immediately ensued. In the midst of it all, two
women, Victoria Price and Ruby Bates, emerged from a train car and claimed they
had been raped by the nine African American men that had been on the train. Only
the verbal confirmation from one of the white women that they had been raped
was enough to send the public into a frenzy. The men of Paint Rock surrounded
the African American boys and forced them to line up against a wall. Then they
aggressively made them stand and wait for a bus to take them to Scottsboro. The
Scottsboro Boys were surrounded by the aggressive public as soon as they were put
in the Scottsboro jail. The sheriff had to go out and declare that violence towards the
prisoners would result in violence towards the instigator. While Atticus Finch did not
condone violence, this is similar to the To Kill A Mockingbird jail scene.
Additionally, Victoria Price, one of the accusers, had traits similar to those of
Mayella Ewell. When the trials actually began, she would be extremely evasive on the
witness stand, and claim she did not know what would seem to be rather obvious
information. Also, her manner indicated she was uneducated, and like Mayella, and
she would frequently burst out in unintelligible streams of sentences. She was tough

A Progression of Idealistic Perfection in Sculpture: Khafre Enthroned to Kritios
Boy Early Egyptian art from the Old Kingdom, ca. 2575 2134 BCE, demonstrates
uniform structure. Egyptian artists and sculptors adhered to a system of strict rules
known as canon to create this consistency. The Egyptian canon suggested
perfection to be a rigid, ageless idealization of reality. Roughly 1,500 years later, a
progressive canon emerged in Greek art reflecting new ideals of perfection. Greek
art beginning in the Early Classical Period, ca. 480 450 BCE, digressed from the
acceptance of formula (influenced by Egyptian canon) to reflect greater naturalism,
an adherence to close observation of reality. Greek perfection was achieved through

The marble sculpture of Kritios Boy from Greece, ca. 480 BCE marks an influential
point of stylistic evolution. In contrast to Khafre Enthroned, The Kritios Boy was
created for a public audience. The Kritios Boy s standing pose represents a freedom
in his figure that divorces the solidity of the stiffly seated Khafre. Rather than
emanating timelessness, this naturalistic sculpture seems to capture a specific
moment in time. Mirroring a normal human stance of balance and weight shift onto
one leg, his stature is contrapposto. Furthermore, the Kritios Boy s physical
composition maintains a smooth contour to his natural musculature. His head is
slightly turned with hair that seems to fall effortlessly in place. He is completely
naked, wearing only a relaxed expression on his face. With no indication of identity,
the Kritios Boy exemplifies naturalism in Greek drive to order to analyze form into
constituent parts and represent the specific in light of the generic. The figure
sculptures of Khafre Enthroned and Kritios Boy exhibit a start and end point in an
evolution of artistic technique. Although a single male figure is the subject of both
works, canon clearly develops from Khafre Enthroned to Kritios Boy. Both works
express a desire for perfection with the use of contrasting ideals. Egyptian artists
prized completeness and timeless to achieve a god like representation. Later, artistic
form advances as Greeks sought naturalism and

Although he doesn t suggest how organization culture is created, he remedies that, for
organizations to shun unethical conducts, they must focus more on building the right

further argues that an organization culture is not supposed to be created by the

organizations must understand what causes misconduct and ways of measuring
success of ethics. According to him, the true measure is whether the company has

I agree with the author when he says that organizations must understand the stress its

20. The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock is about an indecisive man who cannot tell a
woman he has feelings for her. Prufrock is struggling with telling the woman of his
feelings because, he is afraid of rejection. With time he begins to struggle with
loneliness and feeling empty. Due to the indecisions he degrades himself for
balding and having thin arms and legs. By doing this Prufrock comes to the
decision that all women will never view him as a possible companion. Also,
everywhere he goes he makes the places he describes seem lifeless. The city that
Prufrock describes gives the reader insight on where he lives and how empty and
uninteresting the city is to him. T. S. Eliotuses imagery in this poem to depict the
emptiness of modern life. Prufrock describes his city to the other person in the
monologue. He talks about how alienating and desolate it is. He says Let us go,
through certain half deserted streets, he is talking about the streets of the city (822).

Children that are born into poverty and less than desirable conditions are more
times than not, destined to become involved in the juvenile justice system. This may
be due the child s destructive behaviors or for placement out of concern for the child

environments and causes sometimes irreversible emotional problems. For whatever
reason the child enters the system, we know that it is not a place for youth to grow,
be nurtured and become productive members of society.

There in no reason why anyone in the United States of America should be homeless
or hungry, yet many children go to bed hungry every night and many with no real
place to call home. When a child unfortunately gets involved in the juvenile justice
system for whatever reason, we need to make sure that rehabilitation is the main
focus at getting that child back on track. We need to find out the root causes for the
behaviors that brought him to this point and work diligently to try and change them.
Incarceration with out treatment is merely storing bodies. If you don t treat a
problem it festers and becomes an even bigger problem. Delinquency must be
handled so as to avoid the adult judicial system.
Children and young adults usually don t have the mentality to seek and utilize
rehabilitative programs because they usually don t want to acknowledge or don t
even realize that they have issues to be treated. We as adults need to show these
troubled youth that we care about them and their futures, as they will one day

audience. Or at least those assumptions caused a good reception in the thinking of
people respect to the recovery of the economy of America and the innovation in the

this speech of Obama.
Obama used multiple assumptions from descriptive nature in different parts of his

assumptions, people had to check that Obama started using real data to create a

His style of leadership creates a vision to guide change through inspiration. He
executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group (Scully

followers individually to their fullest potential. Branson augments the motivation,
morale, and performance of followers through a variety of mechanisms including
connecting the follower s sense of identity and self to the project and the collective
identity of the organisation.
Richard Branson also continues to maintain a warm relationship with the employees
and executives. Besides building his Multi Virgin business from the scratch, Branson
has proved himself by setting goals and achieving the target. The world leader works
with the employees as friends who reflect his transformational leadership
characteristics. In the wake of globalisation, Richard Branson s transformational
leadership model is relevant in contemporary business

what the purpose of education should be based on his own experience and

of these ideas have been followed by schools today as well. Mann also had ideas
on topics which one considers today to be controversial. The public should take into

Mann thought that schools should teach a complete educational program including
physical education and musical education. Schools today teach physical education
and music to provide their students with a better educational experience. Mann
thought also that schools should have nothing to do in their religion and politics.
Ideally, this is what public schools and teachers try to do today. Religion is not a part
of the public school today. During Mann #8217;s twelve years as secretary of the
Massachusetts board of education he sent back reports to the board as to the
condition of schools and what he thought should be taught in them. His ideas in these
reports revolved around six ideas: #8220;(1) that a republic cannot long remain
ignorant and free, hence the necessity of universal education; (2) that such education
must be paid for, controlled, and sustained by an interested public; (3) that such
education is best provided in schools embracing children of all religious, social, and
ethnic backgrounds; (4) that such education, while profoundly moral in character,
must be free of sectarian religious influence; (5) that such education must be
permeated throughout by the spirit, methods, and discipline of a free society, which
preclude pedagogy in the classroom; and (6) that such education can be provided only
by well trained, professional

woman who seems to be genuinely worried about the state of Richard s
soul. She is always ready to aid a family member in need, and she

her conception of Richard s welfare does not consider his happiness an
important issue. Much of Richard s rebellious spirit seems to
develop from his struggle against Granny s rules.
On the other hand, Richard s father is important primarily for
abandoning him and his mother and thus causing much of their
deprivation. He seems to be a simple and somewhat selfish man with
little interest in the effect of his behavior on his family.
27. Job Reflection
The book of Job is the testimony of a man named Job. Job was very wealthy and
walked an upright and blameless life (sparknotes). God spoke well about Job and
when Satan overheard, he challenged to make Job s life miserable in order to ruin
Job s walk with God. One bad event after another, Job struggled with his faith. His
family and friends tried to console but all that they were doing is making Job s life
more difficult and frustrating. Despite Job s family and friends, Job begins to
question God s ways because he does not understand what he did to deserve
suffering. As time goes on he slowly becomes sarcastic, impatient, afraid and
believes God is unjust. Before Job drifts farther from God, he meets a man named
Elihu. Elihu speaks wisdom to Job and makes him realize there is something good
that comes out of suffering. After Job s discussion with Elihu, God calls to Job to
show him how little he knows about creation and His power. When Job regains his
confidence in God, he claims God as almighty. When Job is translated into Hebrew,
it means boYa or to come back , repent , or returns to . The author of the book of Job

29. The Electoral College System Is Not Effective
If I had the opportunity to change the Constitution of the United States of America, I
would change the Electoral College system. Like many other Americans, I feel that
the Electoral College system is not effective. It caries a notion of the state versus the
people, electors oversee a large part of the country and is change the answer to this
issue? I believe that times have changed and we need to reform the electoral system
all while not changing the constitution.
The Constitution of the United States of America created a system called the Electoral
College where it outlines the rules in which we elect the President of the United States
of America. As stated in Article 2, Section 1 of the U. S. Constitution created the
Electoral College. Each state receives as many electoral votes as it has senators and
representatives. Therefore, each state, including the District of Columbia, will have
at least three electors. This is the vision of the Constitution. Now the problem arises
when all the Electoral votes from one state are given to the popular winner for that
state. This causes a with people s right to chose their leader as votes of the people
that voted for the losing candidate are tossed in the trash. All this while giving the
state the ultimate power to elect the president.
The people of the loosing party on the state votes are not worth anything they are just
given to the winner basically with the current electoral system. The system needs to
be redesigned to

The Influence of Cotton Mather The Salem witchcraft trials, a phrase not too often

man was Cotton Mather? What did he value? And how did his writing reflect his
beliefs? Let us first start by evaluating a writing related to the events described
above, The Wonders of the Invisible World. In this publication, Mather makes many
references to accounts of eyewitness testimonies and confessions of the accused;
not only to justify, but also to prove that the Salem witchtrials were a God
sanctioned attack against Satanic works. Mather says, He (the devil) has wanted
incarnate legions to persecute us, as the people of God have in the other
hemisphere been persecuted: he (the devil) has therefore drawn upon his more
spiritual ones to make an attack upon us. (2) Mather s use of the term spiritual ones,
is meant to represent the accused witches of the time. Witches, Mather believes, are
the work of the devil. Throughout this writing Mather quotes from the Bible. Mather
knows that the people of his church would not dare question the validity of the
Bible. So, by choosing specific verses that favor the intended goal of his writings he
is able to add rock solid validity to the statements he is making to the members of his
church. References to past situations illustrated in the Bible prove to Mathers
audience that these

statistics and findings of the study. The article did have links to other articles within
the magazine based on key words such as education, community, academic

of the material is crucial since the article is focused on a survey which needs to be

33. Dan Ariely s Predictably Irrational By Dan Ariely
Dan Ariely, the author of В«Predictably IrrationalВ», conducted a comprehensive
research related to human behaviour and its influence on our decision making. In the
seventh chapter of the book, Dan explains why people overvalue their possessions
and how this overestimation hinders our life. He considers that our perspectives can
be changed dramatically due to overvaluing what we have and gives several instances
of proving his thoughts.
The first example is the experiment at Duke University where students should spend
an enormous amount of time in tents to get a ticket for a basketball game. Dan Ariely

People generally are not concerned about this problem because they cannot
sometimes distinguish it. Dan Ariely presented the extensive research to explain to
people how the overvaluing of what we have complicates rational decision making
about our possessions. The examples appeared in the chapter help in revealing the
interesting aspects of human behavior related to the ownership. People may find
several instances relatable because all of them reflect our situations in life. The
author provides the broad explanations about why overvaluing influences on our
decision making. He makes it easier for us to understand how ownership can
dramatically alter our perspectives.
Summarizing all above mentioned it seems that the chapter is managed
appropriately to make the main issue clear for the readers. Dan Ariely raises the
problem of overvaluing to warn people about its danger that can disturb their life. He
covers the whole topic by providing the comprehensive instances and answering the
central questions related to the problem. The chapter clarifies how the issue of

there are distinctions among the minorities concerning lifestyle and social status. In
Toni Morrison s Song of Solomon the author provides examples in the background of
the story that shows people with differential identities of the general identity of the

The difference between Milkman and his father is that he was born rich and does
not have the ambitions of his father. But, because of the way he was raised, he

from this core message, however, these things can all be reasoned with truth. But how

The concept of Santa Claus is something we are supposed to grow out of. Its

believe in there existence; faith in the unseen are both required to believe, but faith
in a lie is manipulation. The potency of Jesus Christ birth and ultimate, salvation of
humanity, is put on undue trial when one story is revealed as lie. Jesus informs us
in Matthew 18:6 7, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to

36. Tobacco Free Policy Essay
Unquestionably, there is a problem in the US Army with drafting and implementing
strong tobacco policies at the local level. Currently, US Army installations draft
polices that do not comply with federal law and Department of Defense (DoD)
regulations. There is a lack of consistency and enforcement in tobacco policies
across commands (Jahnke et al., 2011). The Department of Defense has an
opportunity to standardize a strong tobacco free policy that can be implemented at
the local level to combat the rate of tobacco use for overall health and physical
readiness within the force.
Presently, in the Army 17% of Soldiers were classified as not medically ready for
deployment and 32% of Soldiers reported tobacco use (Bell et al., 2015). The
prevalence of tobacco use in the military and especially in the US Army is an
enormous health care burden. Unfortunately, tobacco use in the military is
pervasive and current federal law for tobacco in federal workplaces (Executive
Order 13058) and DoD regulations (AR 600 63) are not being implemented or
enforced. Tobacco use still continues to be a cultural norm even though Soldiers are
required to meet physical health standards (medical readiness). Prevalence of
cardiovascular disease/COPD is high within the U.S. Army population and can be

story that of a fleeting romance, and provides a stage to contrast the facets of love
that are both exalted and despised. The Neigbourhood s Sweater Weather, utilizes a

The lyrics of the main body of the song are rapid and roll off the tongue as lead
singer Jesse Rutherford swiftly rattles off the lines, creating an enveloping sense
of the lust that is present at the beginning of a relationship. However, as the song
progresses, Rutherford s poignant vocal talents seep through as the song becomes
less of a praise of love and more of a lamentation of it, and the deep scars it leaves
behind as it comes to a close. The beginning of the song is riddled with
juxtapositions like, Head in the clouds but my gravity s centered which provide a
unique insight into two component of love, the pure ecstasy of lust coupled with
the grounding force of complacency and reality that cements the relationship. While
the lyrics often exalt the conquest of love, as it evolves the song provides a
evocative lamentation of that lost in the pursuit of love. The lyrics become darker
and more cacophonous, shifting from the upbeat, The goose bumps start to raise to,
it too cold, it s too cold. The protracted feeling that creeps into Rutherford s voice
conveys a demeaning view of that lost, and leaves a lasting impression of
hopelessness that persists long after the song finishes. While simple syntactically, the

This is important in order to make CPD an easier task, as there are many different
settings that utilise LLL.
CPD is vital in the field of adult nursing, as healthcare is frequently being modified
and amended. This is due to many factors, such as changes of policies, which
results in changes to the way adult nurses care for patients (Narayanasamy and
Narayanasamy 2007). The purpose of these policies is to ensure patients are being
cared for in a safe environment. Additionally, nurses are required to keep up to date
with amended procedures in order to ensure patients are receiving safe and effective
treatment (Eason 2010). This is vital in order to ensure patient safety and efficient
treatment, not only for the benefit of the patient but also because nurses are
responsible for issues arising with a patient s care, and are potentially liable for
mistakes arising from incorrect procedure. LLL is also imperative in order to meet
the requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), as without which
the adult nurse would be removed from the register. These requirements are put into
place in order to ensure that the patients are as safe as possible in their environment.
Adult nurses are also required to keep up with important advances within the NHS
(Narayanasamy and Narayanasamy 2007), such
39. Work Environment And Performance As A Team
Working as a team will improve the quality of care and provide great service to
individuals. The purpose of having a team is to have a framework that will
increase the ability for employees to participate in problem solving, planning and
decision making. John C. Maxwell is the author of the book Teamwork Makes the
Dream Work. He is known as one of America s experts on leadership. He is also the
founder of John Maxwell Team Online University. He stated that Teamwork makes
the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream
and a bad team (Transformational Leadership Strategist, 2015). A team can be any
group of people or organizations working together to interdependently and
cooperatively help meet the needs of their residents or patients based on their
settings. Team work is essential in the healthcare field for happy employees. I gave
a survey to 50 employees at Our Lady of the Lake Ollie Steele that questioned their
opinion on their work environment and performance as a team. The team mainly
consists of Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified
Nurse Aides (CNA), kitchen staff, housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and
administration. Each department and/or individual has a specific job to do within the
main collaborative goal of providing service to the residents. I then observed the
work environment of these employees during the day shift and again during the
evening shift. I was looking for the
