The Theory Of Consciousness And The Body
When the word consciousness is used regarding human beings, the word itself usually implies that
those individuals are conscious of being conscious. Many individuals assume that the mind, the brain,
and the body react as one. But the idea of the mind is not related to the concept of the brain or the
body. These differences allow philosophers to determine a people s consciousness in the world around
them. Individuals derive the concept of consciousness from their experience because consciousness
itself comes from one s youth. Consciousness can be described as an individual s ability to become
aware of his or her surroundings including both the external and internal world which they are present
in. The idea of consciousness can be explained by obtaining something simple and changing it into
something complex, also known as the emergent property. The process of emergent property can be
achieved in two steps that allow philosophers to determine who and what possess consciousness.
The process of changing matter into energy, which is the first step of the emergent property, combines
subatomic particles in a specific structure to form atoms. The final step of the emergent property
process occurs when those atoms combine to form a more complex form. In humans, as a whole, the
most complex combination of atoms develops to process the brain s activity and is known as the
central nervous system. But because the mind is not correlated with the brain, humans can be aware of

Analysis Of My MistressEyes Are Nothing Like The Sun
My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun... is a sonnet written by William Shakespeare and is also
known as Sonnet 130. He wrote this poem to mock the conventional Petrarchan love sonnets which
are about women who have unattainable beauty. This poem is written in the Shakespearean sonnet
format which consists of a total 14 lines with the first 12 lines divided into three quatrains, and the last
two lines make up a couplet. The quatrains establish the motif or problem of the poem while the
ending couplet explains or resolves the previous lines. Sonnet 130 is a long conceit where the speaker
of the poem goes through a long list of comparisons that seem like insults. The speaker uses
juxtaposition to show that his love for his mistress is strong by describing her in a blunt way that
seems insulting on the surface, but he reveals in the end he loves her even though she is flawed. In the
first quatrain of My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun... , the speaker is already showing that this
is not an ordinary love poem. He says, my mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (line 1). This
metaphor depicts that the woman does not have bright eyes. Most poets would use a cliché to describe
a woman s eyes as bright or like sapphires, but the speaker is saying there is nothing special about her
eyes. Next, the speaker describes the woman s lips. The color coral is slightly orange, but he believes
coral is more red than her lips. Also, most poets would describe their subjects to have bright, shiny red
lips (2). In these two lines, the speaker compares his mistress to things found in nature, and many
people associate beauty with nature. However, that is not the case with this poem. He describes her as
the complete opposite. In line 3, the woman s skin is described as gray which makes it seem like her
skin is dull. In Shakespeare s time, pale skin was more desirable, and since she does not have a pale
complexion, it would make her less attractive. The speaker then compares her hair to wire in this line:
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (4). A beautiful woman is usually described as having
silky locks. That is the opposite in this poem. This comparison depicts the woman to have hair that
lacks

A Brief Note On Sepsis And Septic Shock
SEPSIS/SEPTIC SHOCK 2013
Pathophysiology questions (50 points)
Adv Nursing questions (85 points)
Pharmacology (30 points)
1. Discuss the magnitude of bacteremia and sepsis in hospitalized patients and the relationship
between these two diagnoses. (5 points)
Septic shock is the leading cause of death for patients in intensive care units and is the final stage in a
continuum of infectious and inflammatory processes. This continuum begins with bacteremia, which
is the presence of bacteria in the blood. Normally the body s immune system can fight off a localized
infection caused by a small amount of bacteria in the blood and the person will remain asymptomatic.
However, a hospitalized patient could be immunocompromised, have a ... Show more content on

The systemic inflammatory response is the next step in the continuum and is a nonspecific
inflammatory state that may be seen with an infection. Sepsis is the presence of the systemic
inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) with evidence of infection. As the bacteria invade the
bloodstream, they release endotoxins that damage the endothelial cell lining and impair the vascular
system, coagulation mechanism, and immune system. These endotoxins also trigger the immune and
inflammatory responses, which results in the activation of macrophages and CD4 cells that release
proinflammatory cytokines to create a systemic inflammatory response to the pathogen. Hospitalized
patients may quickly progress from bacteremia to sepsis and finally to septic shock, even with
treatment.
2. What are the risk factors for infection and development of septic shock? Identify those that applied
to Mr. Roberts. (5 points)
Risk factors for infection can be anything that suppresses the ability of the host to resist the infectious
pathogen, including the following: drugs, such as steroids and chemotherapy; disorders that affect the
innate and adaptive immune responses, such as cancer, leukopenia, and HIV/AIDS; and a breakdown
of the first line of defense, such a trauma, broken skin, or surgical wounds. Patients are at risk for
developing sepsis and septic shock if they are very old or very young and have and inability to fight
off the infection. Some other risk factors for the

Differences Between Willy Wonka And Charlie And The...
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is a children s certified classic that spawned countless number
of modern day memes. The movie derived from Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in
1964 and it has been a successful read amongst children ever since. The story is about a young boy
named Charlie, who finds one of five, golden tickets, and his thrilling tour through Willy Wonka s
candy factory. In 1971, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was released under the direction of
Mel Stuart, featuring Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. Thirty four years later, Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory (the remake) was released under the direction of Tim Burton, featuring Johnny Depp as Willy

The central plot was about Charlie Bucket and how his character throughout the story proved himself
worthy of taking over Willy Wonka s chocolate factory. In Willy Wonka (1971), the portrayal of
Charlie as the main character remained; however, in Charlie (2005), the role of Willy Wonka was in
the spotlight more than Charlie was. The titles for each film were misleading because in Willy Wonka,
Charlie was the star of the show and in Charlie, Willy Wonka was the star of the show. In both films,
the supporting casts stayed the same. A major difference between the two films would be how the
stories were told. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a musical, so the story was told through
a number of whimsical and catchy songs. On the other hand, only Oompa Loompas sang in Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory. All of the songs were different in both films. In Willy Wonka, the music
was smooth and was able to communicate some sort of message, whereas in Charlie, the music was
somewhat deranged and repetitive with no sense of real meaning. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory both followed the original story, but each film had a
subtle change of focus on the main

Mamosynthesis Vs Mammography
The careers I chose to compare and interview people for were mammography and ultrasound.
Mammography is the screening of the breasts to check for diseases/breast cancer. An ultrasound is an
exam to check the fetus of pregnant women, they can also check for many different kinds of diseases
even breast cancers.
Mammography is a type of x ray that uses radiation, the form of radiation used is light or radio
waves. There have been three recent advances in mammography, which include digital mammography,
computer aided detection, and breast tomosynthesis. I interviewed Kim Eplee for mammography, and
I asked, because of the new advances, what is digital mammography? How is it different from
conventional (film) mammography? she told me digital mammography ... Show more content on

It uses ultrasonic waves, which is not radiation, and unlike with an x ray or CT scan, there is no
ionizing radiation exposure with this test. I interviewed Sharron Luckadoo for ultrasound and since
there are many things you can diagnose with using ultrasound I asked, how many different types of
ultrasound are there? Is there a limitation to how many types of ultrasounds you can preform or can
you be qualified to do all of them? She answered by saying there are many different types of
ultrasound. Examples are: fetal ultrasound, abdomen, aorta, breast, pelvic, vascular structures, echos
(image of the heart), thyroid, and many more , and No limitations. The more you know and have
experience in the better ultrasound technician you are . There are different scans too, so I asked what
an ultrasound scan, doppler scan, and what transvaginal scans are, she said An ultrasound scan is a
painless test that uses sound waves to create images of organs and structures inside your body. It uses
sound waves and not radiation , Doppler scans are used to visualize blood or fluids flowing through
the body. The sound waves reflect off of moving objects like blood cells and measure their speed as
they flow through the body , A transvaginal scan is where the ultrasound probe is actually inserted into
the vagina. We use this to evaluate the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic area.

The Air Force ( Eaf )
Egyptian air Force (EAF) is undergoing a prime convert in the field of technology and information
warfare which requires the steady understanding of new technology and innovation and switch of
equipment. However, material superiority merely is not sufficient. A greater importance is the
development of organizations, training and education, leaders and personals that effectively take
advantage of the technology. Thoroughly fancy equipment is nice, technology will not achieve full
scale improvement without knowledgeable people. Professional education can link that gap. In the

They would be required to understand the political, economic, diplomatic, technological and military

(PME) program to develop future Aerospace leaders who are able to quickly understand the
complexities of the prevailing situation and appropriately apply the highly potent capabilities of
Aerospace power to achieve the desired results most cost effectively. This paper focuses on
Professional Military Education (PME) requirements of the officer cadre in view of the transformation
of the Egyptian Air Force by 2030.
Egypt will reemerge as a major regional power in the early 21st century and its EAF organizations
capabilities will influence to a significant degree the outcome of future wars in our region. No other
profession demands more of manpower, than the military profession. It is noteworthy that, despite the
responsibilities attached to the man in uniform, very little has been written about the kind of education
that he undergoes. While EAF s vision 2030 gives the force structure in the future battlefield scenarios
it neither talks about how the EAF would be providing PME to the future leaders nor the
infrastructural requirements to meet the demands. Today, we stand a transitional period, as the

Chronic illness is a disease that persists for a long time. A chronic disease is one lasting three months

Depression can affect college students in all aspects of life; physically, mentally, and emotionally. The
students who reported that they were depressed also stated that they considered their health fair or

physically. Students with chronic illness who experience depression become more at risk for suicidal
thoughts, or their condition to worsen because they are extremely stressed. Depression plays a huge
role in college students with chronic illness such as bipolar mood diseases, or any chronic illness that

Will ProCurve be able to thrive under the umbrella of TSG? Or should it stand on its own within HP?
Present the pros and cons of each option and then make a decision.
I believe that putting it with TSG is the best that they have done for it, but they should put it on its
own. If you look at Cisco and 3com, they show you how much potential the market has and how much
ProCurve has of that market. ProCurve should stand on its own to be able to better monitor and to give
the person responsible for it his full focus. The pros of being a stand alone are: full focus from the
management on ProCurve products, separate sales team, marketing team, R amp;D, etc., more
entrepreneurial sprit. The Cons are that HP would compare it to all the other larger departments and if
it didn t perform as high as they did, they might sell it like they previously were planning to do. The
pros of being under TSG is that ProCurve will not be compared to other departments, but rather the
whole TSG will be, this will show more revenue from that department and if ProCurve didn t perform
as well, it can be covered by other revenues. TSG can allocate more things to ProCurve faster and
decisions can be done faster and on a smaller scale. The cons of being under TSG are that TSG can
allocate things different and not really give ProCurve the attention it needs to grow to its potential,

The Role Of Alienation And The Khalistan Movement
The communal tension in Punjab during the 1970s and 1980s stems from the alienation of Sikh youth
that occurred during the ethos of the 20th century; moreover, the heightening estrangement the youth
had experienced from society impelled them to disavow any shred of patriotism from their psyches
and contriving an atmosphere conducive to radical behavior and opposition to the self perceived
notion of tyranny by the Indian Government; moreover, the Sikhs who had felt betrayed by the Indian
government succumbed to their victim complex, perpetuating the cycle of rebellion and instilling
vindictive behaviors in their children . Drawing the analogues between alienation and the Khalistan

Punjab at the time was heavily reliant upon its agricultural industry, therefore jeopardizing the
livelihood of many rural farmers whose only source of income was incumbent upon their employment
in the farming industry. Unfortunately for the farmers, the Green Revolution had crippled their only
source of income, leaving them economically vulnerable. Naturally, the farmers turned to the
government to voice their concerns; however, the government refused to acknowledge the problem as
a significant one, alienating the already vulnerable farmers (Mooney). Deeply rooted in the nature of
humans is the desire to sustain oneself and turning to more powerful sources. In the absence of
support, one s psyche experiences isolation. Consequently, the Green Revolution served as the onset
of alienation within the Sikh community. In the midst of pecuniary struggles faced by the farmers,
many Sikhs were compelled to abandon their homes in rural Punjab in search of a prosperous life
where one could feed his family and educate his children in places where such possibilities existed.
Furthermore, most Sikhs were able to overcome adversity in the midst of transition and integrate into
mainstream society, mostly comprised of an amalgamation of Hindus and already integrated Sikhs.
However, a significant population of rural Sikhs failed to tolerate the prospect of homogenization in
society as the notion that their culture and religion would dissolve incessantly lingered

Food Stamps and The Supplemental Assistance Program

Have you ever thought of what would happen to you if there was a nuclear bomb that blew up near

Before the disaster Chernobyl was rated one of the safest nuclear power stations. Three months before

radioactive fuel was disintegrated and the pressure from the entire overload of the steam which was

reactor that blew up was designed very poorly. This was said because the scram button was supposed

The Birth Of The Fetus Essay
Woman all over the world who are expecting a baby handle the life changing journey in diverse ways.
Some are single first time mothers who are striving to find a way to make their predicament work, a
few are surrogates who are carrying a baby for a family who are unable to conceive on their own, and
many are families who are trying to broaden their current household. No matter what the reasoning is
behind the conception of the infant, there is always the mystery of how much the fetus really absorbs
as they are progressing within the womb. Studies all over the globe have been administered to uncover
how much they obtain. Proving whether or not an infant will react the same way or indifferently
outside of the womb when being presented with the same stimuli. These types of studies help
exemplify what an infant actually retains outside of utero , and if all the classical music and endless
conversations to the womb actually played a vital role in the advancement of the fetus learning
capabilities. Between the second and third trimester it is vital for the baby to continue to grow as much
as possible. If the baby were to arrive after 24 weeks, it would be able to survive, but it would have to
remain the NICU. During the six months, the eyelids finally open after being sealed during the entire
pregnancy. Also the fetus has developed taste buds, eyebrows, eyelashes, and a grasping motion. It is

Most people are fascinated with dolphins and crave to see them in Sea World, or another aquarium,
and even enjoy seeing them perform in shows. However, most people do not think about the harm that
dolphins go through in order for the public to see them. Dolphins go through an immense amount of
physical and mental harm solely for our entertainment. I never thought about the harm they go through

In captivity, they can only swim around in circles, instead of swimming miles and miles each day, so
they do not get nearly enough exercise. Dolphins often go insane from the huge adjustment to living in
a very small space. In captivity, dolphins are not able to hunt for their food like they are in the wild,
and they are fed fish that are already dead. Dr. Lori Marino explains, they really enjoy the opportunity
to collaborate with each other and catch prey and travel with their companions (Dr. Lori Marino). This
stimulation is taken away when dolphins are in captivity. Also, dolphins are forced to spend most of
their time at the surface of the tank because tanks are not nearly as deep as the ocean. Dolphins spend
more than half their time at the tank s surface (The Humane Society). This can cause dolphins to
obtain skin problems. Dolphins can also get skin problems from the large amount of chlorine in the

harm because they are meant to live in the large ocean.
In captivity, most dolphins get split up from their family and are forced to live alone, or with other

Symbolism In The Century Quilt By Marilyn Nelson Waniek
Throughout American history, quilting has been a major part of African American culture. Starting at
the time of slavery to relay information about safe routes in the Underground Railroad, this tradition
has continued and has begun to take on many different levels of significance to this community. Used
as a tool to escape racial persecution throughout history physically and mentally, quilting has acted as
an art that transcends racial barriers and to bring the races together in a positive way. In The Century
Quilt , poet Marilyn Nelson Waniek develops complex meanings of the quilt using the literary devices
of color symbolism, time shifts, and a warm atmosphere to effectively demonstrate the theme of love
in families transcending the idea of race. Color drives a significant amount of the meaning in this
poem, as the idea is used in describing the characters and objects throughout the poem and in creating
the atmosphere of the work. This was especially prevalent in the description of the quilt in lines 15
through 17 as having Van Dyke brown squares , white squares , and one square the yellow brown of
Mama s cheeks . By having these different skin tones present, Waniek is representing the races
represented in her family, which includes African American and European roots. Including the
sweetgum lead in each of the squares, this further emphasizes that while the speaker s great great great

Research Paper On Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin:
Charles darwin was born on February 1809 and he is famous for his theory of evolution. The premise
of this theory was related to all of life. This states that evolution changes occur after vary generations
and different survival have different combinations. Charles claimed the offspring of something would
also gain what its parent s had as an advantage(If they had wings so would the offspring). The
disadvantages would occasionally die out from offspring to offspring. Charles helped us think about
evolution and his big theory ended up being true and without him I don t believe we would ve known
about evolution more thoroughly than what he has explained. Website used: http://www.darwins

psychology that he heard was the first one he gave surprisingly). William had published many
influential books on fields of psychology, psychology of religious experience and mysticism,
educational psychology, and philosophy of pragmatism! William wrote textbooks in the field of psy, in
1890 he published The Principles of Psychology, and in 1892 he published: Psychology The Briefer
Course. Till this date, we , the people, still read his textbooks and gain knowledge from them. A fun

The Worth of Native Americans Essay
When you feel worthless, and are told you are completely worthless, and start to believe it, would you
have the strength to break down the walls? As a Native American it was hard, and still is, to feel as
though you belonged in America. They struggle with high rates of suicide, are told they aren t going to
be anything but and Indian, and some overcome. But why do they have to be put through it? From the
time the first settlers arrived, Native Americans lost all control over their land; and, in the 19th
century, when they gave all their land to the government, they were also promised health care benefits.
They relied on the government to give them the help they needed and when the sequester came, and
budgets were cut, they stopped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Junior said most of his friends would end up getting a diploma for attendance, some wouldn t get one
at all, and the ones smart enough to were too scared of the big world. He new that his people would
live up to most of the stereotypes and didn t want to be that way. Little Tree is a determined,
experienced, nieve, 5 year old boy. His parents died in a matter of a year together and he lived with his
half Cherokee grandfather, and full Cherokee grandmother. Little tree doesn t quite understand why
people treat Native Americans the way they do. He wants to believe everyone has good in them, but
his spirit as a Native American gets tested. Little Tree doesn t let what people say get to him. For
example, when he gives a little girl a pair of shoes and her dad smacks him for it and says We don t
take handouts. Little Tree didn t care about what the man had said or done, he was more worried about
the little girl because she had gotten so attached to them. Little Tree refuses to see the barriers and
most of the time, doesn t know that they are there. He didn t understand the fact that people didn t
appreciate his culture. Unlike the people effected by the budget cuts, and Junior, Little Tree doesn t let
his situation get the best of him. We all know it s hard to perservere through rough situations, and not
everyone can; but when you don t let your predicament influence the choices you make, you can

Edward Larson s Work Summer For The Gods
Throughout United States history, Americans have always remain separated on certain issues. Edward
Larson s work Summer for the Gods exemplifies just how issues split the population. Larson uses the
Scopes Trial of 1925 to demonstrate to the rivalry between modernists and traditionalists in the early
20th century. Charles Dawson discovered fossilized human bones known as the Piltdown skull and
bridged a gap in history that seemed to confirm Darwin s theory of evolution. Darwin s account of
random variations, coupled with his survival of the fittest selection process, posed a critical problem
for many Christians who retained a teleological view of nature. (Larson, 17) This threat to Christian
spirituality sparked an anti evolution movement in an attempt to revoke the teachings of evolution in
public school systems. The Tennessee House of Representatives soon passed a statute making it illegal
for any public school official to teach any theory that rejected the divine creation of man as taught in
the Bible. The Scopes Trial would prove to be more than an argument between science and religion
and the removal of textbook content. It was individual rights versus the right of majority rule, freedom
of speech versus censorship, and evolution versus creationism. At the turn of the century,
traditionalists were making an effort to combat the teachings of evolution. The anti evolution
movement originated for many reasons. First, as a response to new scientific evidence that

The Testament Of The Bible
The Bible simply says in Isaiah 55:9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways
higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. God does work His wonders in ways that
are beyond finding out! The congregation at Calvary has heard repeatedly about the classic book
called Pilgrims Progress. In this timeless book there is a man named Mr. Worldly Wise. It doesn t take
long for a Christian to realize that he shouldn t have listened to this man. Mr. Worldly Wise does not
have the mind of God. There would appear to be great wisdom coming from his mouth, but it s not
from God. Something that will have to be accepted by faith, no matter how good the intentions, if the
direction that a person is going is not governed by God s wisdom, that journey, that path, will end in
hopelessness. The Church, His blood bought Church, has the special revelation called the New
Testament. One would think, with all the technology, modern science and medicine, that the Church
would evolve to a place in society where the message of reaching the world would be different than it
was when the Church began. But lest we forget the declaration of Isaiah, His ways are not our ways.
The giant gulf that separates God and man is impassable. There is no way to get from here to there
apart from the wisdom of God. His wisdom is completely separate from worldly wisdom. As Paul
makes clear in 1 Corinthians 1:18 25, For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are

Dead Poet s Society
The enlightened teacher and founder of Buddhism, Gautama Buddha, taught that your work is to
discover your work and then, with all your heart, give yourself to it. According to legend, the king of
gods, Brahma, helped the Buddha discover his work by convincing him to teach others. Without
Brahma, the Buddha might never have become one of the most influential figures in history today.
Likewise, some students may have never lived up to their fullest potential without the guidance of
their teachers. The high school years are a crucial time for people to discover who they are and who
they want to become, and often times, students need others to help them on this journey. They need
someone in their life to help them discover who they are, to support them, and to boost their self
confidence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the influence of teachers on students is truly remarkable and with the right teacher to guide him, a

Sexual Assault Of A 6 Year Old Boy Essay
On April 5th, 2016 at approximately 10:00 AM, I, Investigator James Poffel was assigned a case in
reference to a possible sexual assault of a 6 year old boy, Kevin Baptiste. The reporting party was
Pershing Elementary School staff. Officer Will Sanders #549 was dispatched to Pershing Elementary,
located at 301 N. 54th St., in reference to making contact with Karen Watkins and Shannon Johnson.
Once on the scene, Officer Sanders was informed by Ms. Watkins that Kevin disclosed to the school
counselor, Shannon Johnson that he sucked on his mother, Taren Harvey s, privates. Ms. Watkins
originally called Kids Space to try and figure out the proper procedure since they have had Darkness
to Light Training provided by Kids Space in the past. Officer Sanders then spoke with Ms. Johnson,
who stated three boys were brought to speak with her over a squabble they had on the playground. The
boys were Ty Looney, Kevin Baptiste, and Malcom Lewis. They were all arguing, so Ms. Johnson
separated them and spoke with them one at a time. Ty told Ms. Johnson that they were all arguing
because Kevin called Ty and Malcom gay and said they sucked each other s privates . Malcom said
the same thing as Ty. Lastly, she called in Kevin and he immediately started saying he did not do
anything. Kevin said he was arguing with the other boys because they told Kevin that he sucked on his
mama s privates . DHS was contacted and a referral was made. After receiving the report and having

Famers During The Dust Bowl
Migration of the Famers During the Dust Bowl A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests
are lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people , stated Franklin Delano
Roosevelt. (1) Have you ever heard of the Dust Bowl? The Dust Bowl took place in the 1930s. In the
Great Plains of the United States. It covered parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska,
Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. The blowing dust caused hardships
for many farmers making it difficult for them to work their farmland. Eventually, many of them
packed what they could into their cars or trucks and headed west to California.

Unfortunately, a new life in California was not as ideal as they thought it would be. There were less
jobs available than were advertised. In California, many farmers found themselves still unemployed.
They gave up farming corporations when they discovered that a good portion of California s
farmlands were owned by large farms with various different crops and eventually they looked to do
different work. ( The Dust Bowl 2) Many of the families that traveled from Oklahoma to California
during the 1930s were classified as Okies . Even though only one fifth of the migrants were from
Oklahoma. However, Klein tells us that an Okie was a blanket term used to describe all agricultural
migrants, no matter their home states. The migrants were welcomed with hostility. For example, a sign
was hung outside of a diner that read: Okies not allowed inside.

Coyotes Vs Dogs
Coyotes and dogs have the same genus which is Canis but their species are different. Since coyotes
have the same genus as dogs they have many of the same traits. A similarity is that they are about the
same size. From about two weeks old till the end of a coyotes life they will usually live alone unless
they are in a pack. Coyotes are predators of farmers livestock and because of that farmers will hunt the
coyotes. In order to understand the significance of coyotes, one must understand their dog like
characteristics, the smart way of reproduction and parenting, and the challenges of their survival.
To learn about coyotes, one must know its characteristics. Some of the characteristics that are
important to know is that they are a least concerned animal because of their adaptability. Being a least
concerned animal means that they do not have a trouble surviving and are farthest away from being
endangered. Because coyotes can adapt very easily they live in most of North America. Coyotes will
live to be ten to fourteen years old. Dogs and coyotes can breed but it is very uncommon in the wild
because their breeding seasons are at different times. When they do breed their offspring is called a
coydog. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

protect the pups and get them food. To protect the pups the mother will build dens and will keep the
pups inside of them. To prevent from being tracked down they will switch from den to den. After the
pups are old enough to survive on their own the dens will be abandoned, and the parents will leave the
pup so it can learn to live on its

A Moral Examination of Roger Kumble s Cruel Intentions ...
I can t remember ever seeing a film with more moral problems and issues than Roger Kumbles Cruel
Intentions. Although the film is intended to be a dark comedy and a teenage version of Dangerous
Liaisons, Cruel Intentions is a mature and often shocking look at a potential realistic situation played
up as a fantasy tale that offers a sickening example of the moral decay present in our society. Morals
seem to change from generation to generation, and as time goes on it seems that at one time what was
disgusting and immoral in our society is now second nature and pure entertainment for today s
generation. An example of this might be to take the idea of a show consisting of uncensored sexual
intercourse, and having it actually become a feasible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The opening scene sets the immoral tone for the entire movie when Sebastian humiliates his therapist
s daughter with nude pictures of her posted on the Internet (his reasoning: she was charging too
much). He then admits that he is tired of sleeping with these insipid debutantes and wants a challenge
worthy of his talents. At the same time Kathryn is upset that her ex boyfriend dumped her for a ditzy
klutz named Cecile (Selma Blair), and wants Sebastian to pop her cherry, so to speak, to humiliate the
boyfriend. As it turns out, this is nothing new for Sebastian, who has a reputation as a master of
deflowering virgins. He agrees and of course succeeds but he has more challenging goals in mind.
While turning through 17 Magazine one day, Sebastian came across the young Annette Hargrove
(Reese Witherspoon), who happens to be the first character the audience meets with morals. Annette
wrote an article titled Why I plan to wait: A virgin s manifesto , where she goes into depth about all
the reasons that she won t surrender her virginity until she falls in love. While reading the article,
Sebastian refers to her as daddies little angel, the paradigm of chastity and virtue and proudly states
that this young virgin would be his greatest conquest to date, and explains the wonders it would do for
his reputation. The only reason that this

Anti Depressants in Teens
Are anti depressants a medication or a mental steroid? (Kramer). For many years there has been an
ongoing talk about anti depressants. The big question is, are they really a cure for depression or just a
mental steroid. An anti depressant is a medication used to treat depression and other anxiety disorders.
When proscribed to children and teens there can be severe side effects such as an increased chance to
commit suicide or have suicidal thoughts or actions. This risk of suicide is higher for people under the
age of 25. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Teenage usage of anti depressants has been a controversial issue for
many decades.
Many people believe that anti depressants aren t a medication, but only create artificial happiness.
Teenage usage of anti depressants is so risky because it can increase the chance of suicide. Some more
side effects they can cause are anxiety, agitation, hostility, restlessness, or impulsive behavior. They
can also make symptoms of depression stronger after the medication wears off. Although there are
many side effects to anti depressants, doctor s still proscribe them to children who have depression
and anxiety disorders. Some popular anti depressants that doctors proscribe to adolescents are Prozac
and Zoloft. (Anti Depressants). Scientists and Doctors studies show that 4 percent of those taking
antidepressants had an increase in suicidal thoughts, compared with 2 percent of those taking sugar
pills. After seeing those studies, the FDA (Food

How Fragmentation Will Impact On Ecosystem Function
Introduction
Following the advance of civilization, large forests are completely degraded, eliminated and converted
to other types of land use on all continents. However, small pieces of forest are left on areas that are of
little use owning to their adverse topography or poor drainage, or other reasons. When discussing the
human impact on forests (Ledig 1992). Ledig and Kitzmiller (1992) listed fragmentation of forest as
next in line after complete destruction degradation and loss of genetic diversity in forest area. Defined
as an unbroken expanse of primary forest greater than 500 km2 without significant human activity,
intact forest landscapes comprise only 29.9% of the world s remaining tropical forests (Gibson et al.,
2011). This surviving fraction is rapidly being broken up and fragmented (Wright, 2005). This raises
the urgent question of how fragmentation will impact on ecosystem function, the essential set of
processes which maintain tropical forest ecosystems (Laurance et al., 2011).Ecosystem function can
be defined as the processes that collectively contribute to the self maintenance of an ecosystem
Owning to the species richness of genetic diversity particularly of tropical rain forest with a high
proportion of endemics (Vianaet al. 1997), the number of species being strongly affected or becoming
vulnerable and extinct is larger than in other biomes. Owning to local rarity or pronounced clumping
of species occurrence, many species may be missing from any

My Summer Vacation Essay
My summer vacation this year if you even call it a vacation has been insane. My summer started out
normal until the day I to went visit my dad. My parents had recently gotten a divorce so they no longer
lived together. It all started with the secret that my dad had no idea about. Just before I got in the plane
my mom gave me a hatchet, which I had no idea what I would ever use it for. I was getting there on a
bush plane with a very friendly pilot. He even let me drive for a while, every thing was fine until he
started having problems, big problems. Seconds later he was silent. Silent. That s when everything
went wrong. It took me awhile to figure out what s happening but I made somewhat of a plan to ¨land¨
the plane. Once the plane ran out of gas I crash land into a lake somewhere in the Canadian forest.
Insane.
As soon as the plane hit the water it was a race to surface before my lungs filled with lake water. The
journey to the shore was tiring and bye the time I finally woke up from who knows how long my face
was fried and mosquitoes were eating me alive. Millions of things were flying through my mind at
that time, the pilot, where am, what do I do, food, and shelter. I didn t even know where to start. Food.
I knew I needed food before I could do anything. I grabbed a sip of water from the lake hesitant at
first. The pilot. I decided I needed the water so I got some anyways trying not to think of the pilot. As
I stumbled up the hill trying to keep the lake in sight at all times I found some sort of berries and
started shoving my mouth full of whatever those berries were. Once I got back to the lake I realized
eating too many of those berries made me feel like my stomach was tied in knots and was being
chewed by those berries and spit back out. Gut cherries. After that I knew I could not live off those gut
cherries,so I went in search for more food. About a hundred yard past the gut cherry bushes were
Raspberries. Then I really stuffed my face and didn t even realize that there was also someone eating
the berries as well, it wasn t a person; but a bear. Insane.
Since the food part was taken care of I needed shelter. I was thinking of making a lean to until I found
a cavish like shelter that went a

  • 5. The Theory Of Consciousness And The Body When the word consciousness is used regarding human beings, the word itself usually implies that those individuals are conscious of being conscious. Many individuals assume that the mind, the brain, and the body react as one. But the idea of the mind is not related to the concept of the brain or the body. These differences allow philosophers to determine a people s consciousness in the world around them. Individuals derive the concept of consciousness from their experience because consciousness itself comes from one s youth. Consciousness can be described as an individual s ability to become aware of his or her surroundings including both the external and internal world which they are present in. The idea of consciousness can be explained by obtaining something simple and changing it into something complex, also known as the emergent property. The process of emergent property can be achieved in two steps that allow philosophers to determine who and what possess consciousness. The process of changing matter into energy, which is the first step of the emergent property, combines subatomic particles in a specific structure to form atoms. The final step of the emergent property process occurs when those atoms combine to form a more complex form. In humans, as a whole, the most complex combination of atoms develops to process the brain s activity and is known as the central nervous system. But because the mind is not correlated with the brain, humans can be aware of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of My MistressEyes Are Nothing Like The Sun My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun... is a sonnet written by William Shakespeare and is also known as Sonnet 130. He wrote this poem to mock the conventional Petrarchan love sonnets which are about women who have unattainable beauty. This poem is written in the Shakespearean sonnet format which consists of a total 14 lines with the first 12 lines divided into three quatrains, and the last two lines make up a couplet. The quatrains establish the motif or problem of the poem while the ending couplet explains or resolves the previous lines. Sonnet 130 is a long conceit where the speaker of the poem goes through a long list of comparisons that seem like insults. The speaker uses juxtaposition to show that his love for his mistress is strong by describing her in a blunt way that seems insulting on the surface, but he reveals in the end he loves her even though she is flawed. In the first quatrain of My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun... , the speaker is already showing that this is not an ordinary love poem. He says, my mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (line 1). This metaphor depicts that the woman does not have bright eyes. Most poets would use a cliché to describe a woman s eyes as bright or like sapphires, but the speaker is saying there is nothing special about her eyes. Next, the speaker describes the woman s lips. The color coral is slightly orange, but he believes coral is more red than her lips. Also, most poets would describe their subjects to have bright, shiny red lips (2). In these two lines, the speaker compares his mistress to things found in nature, and many people associate beauty with nature. However, that is not the case with this poem. He describes her as the complete opposite. In line 3, the woman s skin is described as gray which makes it seem like her skin is dull. In Shakespeare s time, pale skin was more desirable, and since she does not have a pale complexion, it would make her less attractive. The speaker then compares her hair to wire in this line: If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head (4). A beautiful woman is usually described as having silky locks. That is the opposite in this poem. This comparison depicts the woman to have hair that lacks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Brief Note On Sepsis And Septic Shock SEPSIS/SEPTIC SHOCK 2013 Pathophysiology questions (50 points) Adv Nursing questions (85 points) Pharmacology (30 points) 1. Discuss the magnitude of bacteremia and sepsis in hospitalized patients and the relationship between these two diagnoses. (5 points) Septic shock is the leading cause of death for patients in intensive care units and is the final stage in a continuum of infectious and inflammatory processes. This continuum begins with bacteremia, which is the presence of bacteria in the blood. Normally the body s immune system can fight off a localized infection caused by a small amount of bacteria in the blood and the person will remain asymptomatic. However, a hospitalized patient could be immunocompromised, have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The systemic inflammatory response is the next step in the continuum and is a nonspecific inflammatory state that may be seen with an infection. Sepsis is the presence of the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) with evidence of infection. As the bacteria invade the bloodstream, they release endotoxins that damage the endothelial cell lining and impair the vascular system, coagulation mechanism, and immune system. These endotoxins also trigger the immune and inflammatory responses, which results in the activation of macrophages and CD4 cells that release proinflammatory cytokines to create a systemic inflammatory response to the pathogen. Hospitalized patients may quickly progress from bacteremia to sepsis and finally to septic shock, even with treatment. 2. What are the risk factors for infection and development of septic shock? Identify those that applied to Mr. Roberts. (5 points) Risk factors for infection can be anything that suppresses the ability of the host to resist the infectious pathogen, including the following: drugs, such as steroids and chemotherapy; disorders that affect the innate and adaptive immune responses, such as cancer, leukopenia, and HIV/AIDS; and a breakdown of the first line of defense, such a trauma, broken skin, or surgical wounds. The central plot was about Charlie Bucket and how his character throughout the story proved himself worthy of taking over Willy Wonka s chocolate factory. In Willy Wonka (1971), the portrayal of Charlie as the main character remained; however, in Charlie (2005), the role of Willy Wonka was in the spotlight more than Charlie was. The titles for each film were misleading because in Willy Wonka, Charlie was the star of the show and in Charlie, Willy Wonka was the star of the show. In both films, the supporting casts stayed the same. A major difference between the two films would be how the stories were told. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was a musical, so the story was told through a number of whimsical and catchy songs. On the other hand, only Oompa Loompas sang in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All of the songs were different in both films. In Willy Wonka, the music was smooth and was able to communicate some sort of message, whereas in Charlie, the music was somewhat deranged and repetitive with no sense of real meaning. Is there a limitation to how many types of ultrasounds you can preform or can you be qualified to do all of them? She answered by saying there are many different types of ultrasound. • 21. Symbolism In The Century Quilt By Marilyn Nelson Waniek Throughout American history, quilting has been a major part of African American culture. Starting at the time of slavery to relay information about safe routes in the Underground Railroad, this tradition has continued and has begun to take on many different levels of significance to this community. Used as a tool to escape racial persecution throughout history physically and mentally, quilting has acted as an art that transcends racial barriers and to bring the races together in a positive way. In The Century Quilt , poet Marilyn Nelson Waniek develops complex meanings of the quilt using the literary devices of color symbolism, time shifts, and a warm atmosphere to effectively demonstrate the theme of love in families transcending the idea of race. Color drives a significant amount of the meaning in this poem, as the idea is used in describing the characters and objects throughout the poem and in creating the atmosphere of the work. This was especially prevalent in the description of the quilt in lines 15 through 17 as having Van Dyke brown squares , white squares , and one square the yellow brown of Mama s cheeks . By having these different skin tones present, Waniek is representing the races represented in her family, which includes African American and European roots. Including the sweetgum lead in each of the squares, this further emphasizes that while the speaker s great great great grandfather was white, the speaker s father is black, and she herself is ... This states that evolution changes occur after vary generations and different survival have different combinations. Charles claimed the offspring of something would also gain what its parent s had as an advantage(If they had wings so would the offspring). The disadvantages would occasionally die out from offspring to offspring. Charles helped us think about evolution and his big theory ended up being true and without him I don t believe we would ve known about evolution more thoroughly than what he has explained. • 23. The Worth of Native Americans Essay When you feel worthless, and are told you are completely worthless, and start to believe it, would you have the strength to break down the walls? As a Native American it was hard, and still is, to feel as though you belonged in America. They struggle with high rates of suicide, are told they aren t going to be anything but and Indian, and some overcome. But why do they have to be put through it? From the time the first settlers arrived, Native Americans lost all control over their land; and, in the 19th century, when they gave all their land to the government, they were also promised health care benefits. They relied on the government to give them the help they needed and when the sequester came, and budgets were cut, they stopped ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Little Tree didn t care about what the man had said or done, he was more worried about the little girl because she had gotten so attached to them. Little Tree refuses to see the barriers and most of the time, doesn t know that they are there. He didn t understand the fact that people didn t appreciate his culture. • 24. Edward Larson s Work Summer For The Gods Throughout United States history, Americans have always remain separated on certain issues. Edward Larson s work Summer for the Gods exemplifies just how issues split the population. Larson uses the Scopes Trial of 1925 to demonstrate to the rivalry between modernists and traditionalists in the early 20th century. Charles Dawson discovered fossilized human bones known as the Piltdown skull and bridged a gap in history that seemed to confirm Darwin s theory of evolution. Darwin s account of random variations, coupled with his survival of the fittest selection process, posed a critical problem for many Christians who retained a teleological view of nature. (Larson, 17) This threat to Christian spirituality sparked an anti evolution movement in an attempt to revoke the teachings of evolution in public school systems. The Tennessee House of Representatives soon passed a statute making it illegal for any public school official to teach any theory that rejected the divine creation of man as taught in the Bible. The Scopes Trial would prove to be more than an argument between science and religion and the removal of textbook content. It was individual rights versus the right of majority rule, freedom of speech versus censorship, and evolution versus creationism. At the turn of the century, traditionalists were making an effort to combat the teachings of evolution. The anti evolution movement originated for many reasons. First, as a response to new scientific evidence that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God does work His wonders in ways that are beyond finding out! The congregation at Calvary has heard repeatedly about the classic book called Pilgrims Progress. In this timeless book there is a man named Mr. Worldly Wise. It doesn t take long for a Christian to realize that he shouldn t have listened to this man. Mr. Worldly Wise does not have the mind of God. There would appear to be great wisdom coming from his mouth, but it s not from God. Something that will have to be accepted by faith, no matter how good the intentions, if the direction that a person is going is not governed by God s wisdom, that journey, that path, will end in hopelessness. The Church, His blood bought Church, has the special revelation called the New Testament. One would think, with all the technology, modern science and medicine, that the Church would evolve to a place in society where the message of reaching the world would be different than it was when the Church began. But lest we forget the declaration of Isaiah, His ways are not our ways. The giant gulf that separates God and man is impassable. There is no way to get from here to there apart from the wisdom of God. His wisdom is completely separate from worldly wisdom. Although the film is intended to be a dark comedy and a teenage version of Dangerous Liaisons, Cruel Intentions is a mature and often shocking look at a potential realistic situation played up as a fantasy tale that offers a sickening example of the moral decay present in our society. Morals seem to change from generation to generation, and as time goes on it seems that at one time what was disgusting and immoral in our society is now second nature and pure entertainment for today s generation. At the same time Kathryn is upset that her ex boyfriend dumped her for a ditzy klutz named Cecile (Selma Blair), and wants Sebastian to pop her cherry, so to speak, to humiliate the boyfriend. • 31. Anti Depressants in Teens Are anti depressants a medication or a mental steroid? (Kramer). For many years there has been an ongoing talk about anti depressants. The big question is, are they really a cure for depression or just a mental steroid. An anti depressant is a medication used to treat depression and other anxiety disorders. When proscribed to children and teens there can be severe side effects such as an increased chance to commit suicide or have suicidal thoughts or actions. This risk of suicide is higher for people under the age of 25. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Teenage usage of anti depressants has been a controversial issue for many decades. Many people believe that anti depressants aren t a medication, but only create artificial happiness. Teenage usage of anti depressants is so risky because it can increase the chance of suicide. Some more side effects they can cause are anxiety, agitation, hostility, restlessness, or impulsive behavior. They can also make symptoms of depression stronger after the medication wears off. Although there are many side effects to anti depressants, doctor s still proscribe them to children who have depression and anxiety disorders. Some popular anti depressants that doctors proscribe to adolescents are Prozac and Zoloft. (Anti Depressants). • 32. How Fragmentation Will Impact On Ecosystem Function Introduction Following the advance of civilization, large forests are completely degraded, eliminated and converted to other types of land use on all continents. However, small pieces of forest are left on areas that are of little use owning to their adverse topography or poor drainage, or other reasons. When discussing the human impact on forests (Ledig 1992). Ledig and Kitzmiller (1992) listed fragmentation of forest as next in line after complete destruction degradation and loss of genetic diversity in forest area. Defined as an unbroken expanse of primary forest greater than 500 km2 without significant human activity, intact forest landscapes comprise only 29.9% of the world s remaining tropical forests (Gibson et al., 2011). This surviving fraction is rapidly being broken up and fragmented (Wright, 2005). This raises the urgent question of how fragmentation will impact on ecosystem function, the essential set of processes which maintain tropical forest ecosystems (Laurance et al., 2011).Ecosystem function can be defined as the processes that collectively contribute to the self maintenance of an ecosystem Owning to the species richness of genetic diversity particularly of tropical rain forest with a high proportion of endemics (Vianaet al. 1997), the number of species being strongly affected or becoming vulnerable and extinct is larger than in other biomes. • 33. My Summer Vacation Essay My summer vacation this year if you even call it a vacation has been insane. My summer started out normal until the day I to went visit my dad. My parents had recently gotten a divorce so they no longer lived together. It all started with the secret that my dad had no idea about. Just before I got in the plane my mom gave me a hatchet, which I had no idea what I would ever use it for. I was getting there on a bush plane with a very friendly pilot. He even let me drive for a while, every thing was fine until he started having problems, big problems. Seconds later he was silent. Silent. That s when everything went wrong. It took me awhile to figure out what s happening but I made somewhat of a plan to ¨land¨ the plane. Once the plane ran out of gas I crash land into a lake somewhere in the Canadian forest. Insane. As soon as the plane hit the water it was a race to surface before my lungs filled with lake water. The journey to the shore was tiring and bye the time I finally woke up from who knows how long my face was fried and mosquitoes were eating me alive. Millions of things were flying through my mind at that time, the pilot, where am, what do I do, food, and shelter. I didn t even know where to start. Food. I knew I needed food before I could do anything. I grabbed a sip of water from the lake hesitant at first. The pilot. I decided I needed the water so I got some anyways trying not to think of the pilot. As I stumbled up the hill trying to keep the lake in sight at all times I found some sort of berries and started shoving my mouth full of whatever those berries were. Once I got back to the lake I realized eating too many of those berries made me feel like my stomach was tied in knots and was being chewed by those berries and spit back out. Gut cherries. After that I knew I could not live off those gut cherries,so I went in search for more food. About a hundred yard past the gut cherry bushes were Raspberries. Then I really stuffed my face and didn t even realize that there was also someone eating the berries as well, it wasn t a person; but a bear. Insane. Since the food part was taken care of I needed shelter. I was thinking of making a lean to until I found a cavish like shelter that went a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
