Clinical Assessment in Health Centers Heather L. Bienkowski PSCYH 655 March 23, 2015 Professor
Karen Hoeve Clinical Assessment in Health Centers Clinical assessments have their place in almost
every facet of the psychological and educational realms. I have been tracking down and examining
what the most important aspects of assessment are that come into play in regard to drug and substance

Through the interpretation of both verbal and nonverbal language, as well as the specific client

understanding of their patient and determine the type of treatment that would be best for their client.
In all psychological and biological assessment, the use of culturally attuned assessments is top
priority. We may define culturally informed psychological assessment as an approach to evaluation
that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity, worldview,
language, and other culture related variables as they may impact the evaluation process or the
interpretation of resulting data (Cohen, Swerdlik, Sturman, 2013). Through this process key
individuals contribute to the understanding of the client including family, friends, and coworkers input
and information. Through the use of translators and other cultural affiliates clinicians are able to
demonstrate a clearer understanding, a culturally applicable assessment, and ensure that the client
understands the ins and outs of the assessment process. One important aspect of the implementation of
the one size fits all approach to culturally attuned treatment and care in our mental health facilities

Information Technology Infrastructure Of Shiv Llc Company
Introduction
This document is a proposal for the setup and implementation of the Information Technology
infrastructure of Shiv LLC company. The document covers the technologies to be used in
implementing a multi location infrastructure that will aid the business processes of the three different
locations of Shiv LLC which are at Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston. Owing to the prospects of a
rapid growth, the designs proposed in this document are flexible enough to allow room for future
expansion and scaling. This proposal document was prepared with an assumption that there will be
sufficient funds to procure all the equipment necessary to fully implement the considerations put
forward in the document.
Active Directory
Active directory enable computers on the same Local Area Network (LAN) to communicate with each
other. Without Active Directory, each computer on the network will operate as a standalone computer.
Shiv LLC needs active directory to connect all computers on the network to each other. That is to say
that all user s information is stored in a central place, and not on the local computers hard drive. A
global catalog is used to control the domain; the catalog keeps a record of all the devices registered on
the network.
A server running Active Directory Domain Services is known as a domain controller. A domain

Contributions Of Louisa May Alcott
Good books, like good friends, are few and chosen; the more select, the more enjoyable Louisa May
Alcott. There are so many novels that have changed American literature because of their authors. One
of which is Louisa May Alcott. Examples of her work consist of Little Women, Hospital Sketches,
Little Men, and so many more. These novels all have their own personal story and genre. Although
Alcott was raised in poverty, she proved to be an incredibly inspiring American author because of her
realism and the variety of her writing. May Alcott was a passionate, driven lady that was born in
Germantown, Pennsylvania, on November 29th, 1832. Her family and friends consisted of, Henry
David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Theodore Parker (Louisa 1). These wise, educated men
were Alcott s mentors growing up. She looked up to them for their knowledge of academics. She,
herself, was educated by her father, Amos Alcott until 1848 (Louisa 1). She got some of her
inspiration for her writing growing up. Some influences of her writing came from being ...a nurse
during the Civil War (Kellman 39). This tramatic experience gave her audience a unique perspective
and it also helped the story seem sensible. Her audience felt like they were actually at war because of
her talent in writing literature. Also, her experiences with poverty provided not only content and
substance of much of her later writing.. (Kellman 40). These experiences shaped and molded her
writing to be supremely

Ottoman and Mughal Empires People, places, and/or things come and go, changing from one thing to
another or none at all. In other cases, it is just not people, places, and/or things, it can also be
generations or empires. Empires are known to adopt similar traditions or beliefs from other empires.
In addition, some empires have similar, but slightly different laws and/or goals. Two of the empires
that were similar, but different is many ways are the Ottoman and Mughal Empires. Being similar
does not include having the exact same ideas, equipment, beliefs, etc. The Ottoman and Mughal
Empires are two different empires, but they both have a couple of similar things. Starting off with
religions in the Ottoman Empire, there are Christians, Jews, Muslims, and non Muslims. In the
Mughal Empire, there are Muslims and large populations of Hindus. Therefore, the similarity of both
empires are of different religions. Another similarity is the vast empires with both of their great
achievements and military. In addition, women in these empires were powerful. They were allowed to
own property in both empires and also achieved many things such as charity foundations. However,
these two empires are very different. The Ottoman Empire started in 1301 and ended in 1922. That
empire was one of the largest and longest empires in history ( Ottoman Empire ). When the Ottoman
Empire came to be, it succeeded the Byzantine Empire and was

Submarine Warfare During The Civil War Essay
Some say that war never changes. That in the end, it is always the same, a time where conflict took the
better of humanity. They take a look at the big picture, but never take the time to look at the pieces
that compose it. War is a constantly evolving puzzle, where new pieces are constantly being added,
making the puzzle more complicated every time. With every new era comes new tools. In the
American Civil War, a country divided against itself will see warfare like never before, from repeating
rifles, different type cannons and ammunition, submarines, grenades, and many more. (Weaver)
A new invention came out which dominated the battlefield, where every soldier would carry one,
rendering the previous rifle in use obsolete. The repeating rifle, also known as a breech loading rifle,
was one of the most dangerous weapons during the war, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Submarine warfare has been a military tactic tried again and again since the 1600s. So why have we
not heard of submarine warfare during the civil war? Well, it is because both the Union and the
Confederacy had their share of secret scientific research during this time, making sure that no one
knew of their projects. Both sides would use submarines for different purposes altogether though, the
Union would use them to clear out Confederate harbors that contained hostile ships, while the
Confederacy would use the submarines to go against the naval blockade in the Atlantic Ocean ordered
by the Union. The very first successful submarine attack was by Lieutenant George E. Dixon and his
crew aboard the CSS H. L. Hunley, a Confederate submarine. They spotted a Union ship by the name
of USS Housatonic, and submerged. Once in range they fired a torpedo which rammed itself into the
enemy vessel. Once they hit their mark they retreated to a safe distance and triggered the explosive,
making history as they conducted the first successful submarine attack.

Drum Major Failure
While the failures everyday teenagers go through pale in comparison to that of an adult, if I were to
pick one instance of failure, and the lessons entailed, it would be my rejection from becoming my high
school band s drum major. During my sophomore year, I signed up to try out for drum major. There
were five of us total, and only one of us could be the next drum major. The audition was during band
camp, and we have trained all summer for it. Unfortunately, I did not succeed in becoming the next
drum major. From this experience, I have learned that failure can be a valuable teacher, to commit to
areas where I find the most passion and to manage my tasks at hand more effectively. My lessons
started with failure. First, I learned that even in failure, there are still lessons we can all learn. Instead
of blaming someone and thinking nothing can be done, one should ... Show more content on

While I was training, I did not think much why I wanted to become a drum major. I only wanted the
attention from being a drum major, and this became clear during my audition. My frequent
embarrassing mistakes revealed my degree of dedication and everyone knew I lacked the interest and
the skill to become the next drum major. Realizing trying out for drum major was not what I really
wanted, it felt I have wasted my whole summer. Steve Jobs once said, The only way to do great work
is to love what you do . This quote accurately described my situation because becoming a drum major
was not something I loved. It was simply a way to achieve something else I loved, and this ultimately
costed me at the end. Now while applying to college to become a veterinary doctor I can confidently
say I am pursuing what I find truly empassionating. However, instead of panicking and rushing to
finish my applications all at once, I am facing them one at a time with dedication. It is because the last
lesson I learned has to do with time

Religion Is A System Of Belief
JAINISM RELIGION
Religion is a system of belief in spiritual beings and practices observed by a group of people,
institutions, churches, codes related to sacred things (Horton, 1960). The world has numerous
religions with different set of beliefs and perspective. Majority of these religions are centuries old and
have a wide following in different parts of the world depending on their origin. Jainism is one of these
oldest religions in the world that have survived to date with a huge following in Asia especially in the

How Exercise And Different Body Positions Essay
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with the electrocardiograph to help us
determine the heart electrical activity. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body
positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart.
Introduction
Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart
is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical
impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are
two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers
contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the
cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical
current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node,
which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly
Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG
(electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer
monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place
in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood

Terrorist Attacks On The United States
September 11th, 2001, alleged Al Qaeda members attacked the United States of America with four
passenger planes, Boeing 757s. Two planes flew into the North and South Towers of the World Trade
Center in New York, one plane flew into the Pentagon, and the remaining plane was possibly targeting
the White House but was unsuccessful. People all over America felt an utter shock and disbelief after
this tragic event as people demanded answers. After the terrorist attacks, a portion of Americans
started to believe in conspiracies proving the government was behind it all. To add, Americans also
believed that the U.S. government knew in advance of the terrorist attacks on September 11th due to
the time between the attacks and the Bush administration s attempt to investigate, the National
Security Association s lack of investigation of suspicious phone calls, and the odd collapse of World

was behind the attacks on September 11th, Khalid Mohammed was the mastermind behind September
11th, and that debris hit World Trade Center Seven. After the tragedy, the U.S. government believed
that Al Qaeda hijacked the planes used in the attacks. During investigations after the attacks, the FBI

Emerson s Divinity School Address
Emerson and the DSA : A Reception Study Analysis
Delivered to the Harvard graduating class in June 1838 by Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Divinity School
Address sparked outrage amongst the church, its leaders and various critics throughout the nineteenth
century. Within critic reviews of the address, Emerson s words were deemed distasteful and
unintelligible and those same critics believed that the writer exposed himself as an atheist and an
infidel. In researching the reception of the Divinity School Address, I encountered not only widely
known and hostile criticism from Andrews Norton, but positive appraisals from writers such as
Orestes Brownson. I discovered that the overall reception was a representation of the controversy
centered on the topic of individualism versus religious collectiveness or community. Such controversy
is illustrated by the polarizing views of the address, despite the writer s intentions to not dismiss
religion, but encourage the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

though the religious meanings during the nineteenth century was quite controversial, Emerson s words

nineteenth century reader, which led to the confusion in understanding why individual freedom within
religion was considered distasteful. However, in reading the variety of reviews, my understanding has

The Diffusion Of Water Across A Permeable Membrane Essay
INTRODUCTION
Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane (Raven et al. G 16). In this
experiment, dialysis tubing was used to mimic the selectively permeable membrane to show what
osmosis does when placed in different solute concentrations. We filled the dialysis tubes with different
percentages of solute and placed them in beakers full of another percentage of solute. Through this
experiment, I saw what happens when the tube becomes hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic. If two
solutions have unequal osmotic concentrations, the solution with the higher concentration is
hypertonic, and the solution with lower concentration is hypotonic. (Raven et al. 98) When two
solutions have the same osmotic concentration, the solutions are isotonic. (Raven et al. 98) My
hypothesis was that the bags placed in hypertonic solutions would shrink because the water would
leave the bag to go to the higher concentration. The bags placed in isotonic solutions would stay the
same weight because the water would be going in and out evenly. The bags placed in hypotonic
solutions would swell because water would rush into the cell where the higher concentration was. If
bag A shrinks then it is hypertonic. If bag B stays the same, then it is isotonic. If bag C and D swell,
then they are hypotonic.
METHODS
To conduct this experiment we used four pieces of dialysis tubing, four pieces of string, one beaker
filled with 10% sucrose and another beaker filled

During King Edward s rule in England, there were regulations put into effect that banned anyone
from playing soccer. If anyone was caught doing so they risked imprisonment. According to King
Edward that the game was far too violent and noisy, that it caused too much chaos, and that when
soccer was played, many evils arose. The game was deemed indecent and vulgar. Many of the sheriffs
in England at the time ensured the suppression of the game, and later kings and queens also
considered the game indecent. Both King Henry the IV and the VIII put laws into effect that
disallowed the violent sport. Later, Queen Elizabeth would threaten to put any player of the game in
prison for a week s time and force them to follow up such action with penance through the church. In
the early 1680s the sport was officially sanctioned in England. By the 1800s the game grew in
popularity so much that there were yearly contests held in middle and northern England. What s more,
the allowance of such gaming did nothing to diminish the violence of the sport. A game held in

American Voting Patterns, By Angus Campbell, Philip...
American voting patterns is often a topic studied by numerous people for a variety of reasons.
Whether it is to gain an advantage in an election or trying to predict the outcome of an election, the
study of American voters has always been researched. The American Voter Unabridged Edition, by
Angus Campbell, Philip Converse, Warren Miller, and Donald Stokes, is regarded as the model for
conducting voting research. The scope of the book is astounding, ranging from the political parties to
the psychology of individual voters, the book laid the foundation for further voting examination. The
objectives of the research project had a variety of aims. One was to understand the voting decisions of
the national electorate in the manner that transcends some of the specific elements of historical
circumstance. Within the primary motive for their research, they wished to find the political impact of
identification with social class and to find out the voters preferences based on psychological
determinants. There were numerous ways they could have conducted their research; however, they
stuck to a few parameters that they listed in the introduction to the book. First, the book voting

Finding Humor in Grendel
The book Grendel by John Gardner is about a lonely, nihilistic beast that spends the story suffering
through life and feeding its blood lust. Yes it is hilarious. If you don t think my first two sentences go
together, then you didn t read Grendel. Despite the obvious drama and suffering that he story s main
character, Grendel, goes through John Gardner finds a way to put comedy into his work. Gardner,
however, very rarely uses this comedy as a form of comic relief to lighten the story, if anything this
humor makes the story even darker by highlighting the ignorance of mankind and a nihilist s outlook
on life. Men s lack of intelligence is apparent from Grendel s first encounter with men. Though in
some ways sad, when the men have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are plenty of fools that would. (Gardner 118) It s hard to grasp hard to grasp how ruining
institution and morals is an act of creation. I guess since I am using it as an example of comedy that
would make me a fool though. There are sometimes in the story where the comedy isn t so dark, but
more of a way to lighten the mood of the story. When Beowulf arrives in Hrothgar s hall, everyone
celebrates and gets drunk, so something funny is bound to happen. Hrothgar told the

The School s Positive Relations
In terms of resources in my past, current, and future classrooms, I find the school s positive relations
amongst the teachers and faculty is a key resource for the success and growth of the students. I know
that without my mentor and department during my first year as a teacher, I would have struggled with
assessing my students past the typical exit slip or summarized that is required by our district to be part
of the lesson. Fortunately, I was a long term substitute for a full year and then merged into a
permanent position. Therefore, my department assisted me throughout my first year to provide varying
forms of Formative Diagnostic Assessments as well as interim assessments. Additionally, the school
district is continuing a debate about District Determined Measures to assess the students growth
within a year, so as a department we come up with a summative assessment to assess whether the
goals of the year have been reached. In short, I am fortunate to work with a community of life long
learners, experienced educators, and passionate peers for they have provided me with priceless
amounts of advice. While reading the articles, one particular notion that stood out to me within the
resources was when Gavriel provides the following strategy for minimizing student silence with
discussions: Provide participants with an index card each and ask them to write down a thought about
the matter under discussion. Then ask participants to pass the cards around and respond to the

The Diet, The South Beach Diet
Introduction: We live in a society that is crazed in following latest diets whether it be the
Mediterranean diet, the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet etc. Each day there are new discoveries
displayed throughout the media regarding diets and lifestyles, yet for a society so obsessed in the
healthiest trend our statistics tend to show the flying numbers at which the population is diagnosed
with chronic diseases related to nutritional factors. Thus a sound nutrition is more essential than ever.
In the United States at least 4 of the 10 leading causes of are directly linked to what we eat. Majority if
not all of the chronic diseases have a nutritional/lifestyle component that if caught in time can be
reversed. Therefore the focus of the meal plan project was to gain an understanding of one s own
personal nutritional intake by measuring calories consumed throughout the course of one week. In
doing so the individual is made aware of any nutritional deficiencies or food excesses by the choices
made when selecting food. The individual is able to fully grasp their individual needs by analyzing the
data collected over their consumption of essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, lipids, water and
proteins. In the midst of attending class, work and club schedules, as well as inadequate sleep I
hypothesize that my overall nutrition will look be a downward spiral with insufficient calories and
deficiencies in minerals.

Willy Loman Vs Death Of A Salesman
Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, takes place during the 1950s. As my mother says about
my her mother, it was the time when many families, including my grandmother, wanted to keep up
with the Joneses. They wanted new everything, from a new house and vehicle to whatever the next
door neighbor had. However, new and nice things did not come easy for some people as easy as it did
for others, such as my grandmother. Willy Loman likes to stay in a fantasy world rather than the real
world, eventually leading to his lack of self awareness. He is always thinking about the past then
coming back to the present time. Willy, a man who is surrounded by doubts and failures, as well as,
exaggerates on his stories and has frequent contradictions, is unable to keep up with the current
fantasy or truth.
Willy says the key to being successful in life is to be well liked and not just liked (Kirszner Mandell,
2012). He does not feel that he is a successful salesman as he likes to joke and talk too much,
including criticizing his own physique. Linda, Willy s wife, disagrees with Willy, as she has heard of
many of Willy s success and the money he made while he was gone. She realizes Willy s lies but loves
him anyway. Willy, on the other hand, needs more than just love. However, another salesman, Charley,
whom Willy is jealous over, is successful as he is a man of few words and gains the respect of his
customers. Willy also likes to follow Dave Singleman s path (Kirszner

The Walt Disney Concert Hall is Leonard Koscianski s...
The Walt Disney Concert Hall is an astounding work of architecture. Leonard Koscianski finished
designing this work in 1991, but the process of construction lasted almost a decade. The cost of the
building ended up exceeding the original figures, which slowed construction. With donations from
private sources, including the Disney family and The Walt Disney Company, The Walt Disney Concert
Hall finally opened on October 24, 2003. The cost of the concert hall was roughly 274 million dollars,
and seats 2,265 people. The concert hall is located in downtown Los Angeles, California. It was the
fourth hall to join the Los Angeles Music Center. The concert hall is in no way normal but that is what
Frank Gehry is known for. Gehry s architectural works fall under the deconsructivism category.
Deconstructivism encourages radical freedom of form and the open manifestation of complexity in a
building rather than strict attention to functional concerns and conventional design elements
When looking at The Walt Disney Concert Hall from the outside you see a series of corrugated
stainless steel panels covering irregularly shaped appendages. All of the appendages are
interconnected and have glass between some of them to soften the look of all of the steel panels. The
concert hall definitely stands out against the other buildings that surround it. The concert hall is in the
heart of the city with all of the concrete buildings surrounding it. The center of the building looks like

Mark Knapp s Model Of Relation Stages
In a developmental perspective of relational dynamics, communications researcher Mark Knapp,
developed a model of relation stages. In Knapp s model, he included 10 stages, within 2 broad phases,
coming together at the beginning of the relationship and coming apart at the end. The first phases
encompasses the first 5 stages, the last phase includes the last 5. However, other researchers have
suggested that a third phase, relational maintenance, should be included. This stage encompasses the
fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh stages. These ten stages are as follows. As the first step, Initiating is
the act of making contact and sowing that you are worth interacting with. This stage tends to be quite
brief and is typically includes handshakes, small talk, and friendly expressions. Moving forward,
Experimenting is the second stage. The experimenting stage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

During integrating, the parties begin to interact as more of a social unit. At this point both people in
the relationship, start to take on characteristics of each other. Bonding, the fifth stage, is when the
parties then go show the world that their relationship exists. This is typically when the relationship is
given its most legitimacy. Differentiating, the sixth stage, is considered to be the beginning of the
downward slope in Knapp s model. Within this stage, you start to see the individuals involved in the
relationship, begin to pull away from each other. Now, this may seem like a negative, however it can
be a positive action. By pulling away from each other they are able to maintain their individual
identities while also maintaining a commitment to the relationship. At the seventh step,
Circumscribing, members of the relationship tend to decrease their communication in quantity and
quality. This is considered to be the opposite of the integrating stage, due to the fact that there is a
shrinking of interest and

The Rights Of Animal Rights
Animal Rights
Animals Rights is a big discussion that has been around for while. Many argue since animals aren t
human, it doesn t matter how they are treated or taken care of. There are others that do care how our
animals are treated and taken care of. Animal rights are rights believed to belong to animals to live
free from use in medical research, hunting, and other services to humans. This topic has been around
for a while but has become more absolute (Environmental Encyclopedia, Opposing Viewpoint).
Animal rights involves personal, social, legal, religious, cultural values, belief, and decisions. This
alone causes the viewpoint to vary based on many factors. Add in the many benefits animals have for
humans and the lines are blurred further. Animals should be treated humanely as they are living
breathing beings and are aware of their lives. Animals have similar levels of biological complexity,
they make conscious choices, and they are conscious and aware they exist.
Animals should have rights because many of them provide companionship for humans. Therapy dogs
are canines that might be trained to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, nursing
homes, schools, disaster areas, and people with autism (General SHCS Info). Farm animals provide
services for humans such as producing milk, eggs, and wool. Animals like horses can be used to pull a
plow, wagon, carriage, and can be ridden to go to places. 62% of all U.S. households more than 72.9

The Controversy About Feminism
In the minds of many, feminism is confused with misandry, the belief that women should be more
powerful than men; however, this could not be further from the truth. Feminism is women, men, and
nonbinaries taking a stand, together, for equality. Fighting for unshaved female legs, fighting for late
night walks through the park completely alone, and completely safe. Fighting for higher rates of self
esteem and complete acceptance without judgment. Feminism tells males that it is okay to cry and
show emotion. Feminism teaches the world that we are all the same, that we should strive for a better
world for all. Feminism is the fight for equal rights and equal treatment in all areas of society,
regardless of gender or sexual identity.

Steeple Vs Eagen Case Study
Steeple v. Eagen Eagen was in a situation where his instructor, and possibly other students, were in
danger. Each state and the federal government allow for the right to self defense. However, states have
developed rules which define when self defense is allowed. Factors that must be examined are the
imminent nature of the threat, reasonable nature of the threat, proportional response, duty to retreat
versus stand your ground, and beyond. Eagen was within his right to respond to Steeple. Miller et. al
states a more succinctly phrased test to determine if self defense is applicable. Miller et. al questions,
Was the defendant privileged to use force to defend herself, and was the degree of force that she used
reasonable? A person may defend themselves against any threat of physical contact or confinement.
The notion of whether the threat is negligent or intentional is irrelevant. In fact, the defendant does not
even have to be harmed to use this defense. Based on the idea that self preservation is the first law of
nature even in err, a defendant must genuinely believe there is a threat. For example, if a police officer
shoots and kills a criminal known to be armed who reached in their pocket for keys, the officer still
can claim self defense because the notion the criminal was pulling out a gun, based on their
background, is reasonable. Likewise, Eagan perceived not only imminent danger but a deadly danger
that would likely have left Bonds dead if he had not responded. The fact that the danger was no real,
has zero bearing on the legal situation. Another issue at hand is proportional response or reasonable
force. It could be argued that Eagen responded in a disproportionate manner that led to the broken leg
of Steeple. However, this argument is mitigated by the fact the deadly force may be used to address a
threat of equal deadly force. Eagan did not likely intend to break Steeple s leg, only intending to
prevent Steeple s aggression from escalation. However, this is largely irrelevant from a legal
standpoint. At the time of Eagan s actions, Steeple was seemingly choking Bonds. Choking can equate
to deadly force. If the simulation were real and Steeple continued to choke Bonds, he would succumb

What Made Up Theater During The Middle Ages
There is that smaller world which is the stage, and that larger stage which is the world, Isacc
Goldberg. These are important words, because theater is valued in our world today, and was especially
important during the Middle Ages. The church was the main source of order and security during this
time. Going to heaven was the only thing the people really lived for because they had nothing else.
Theater was one of the few things the people of this time could find entertainment in. Theater helped
the people escape from the unexciting and rough world they lived in, and allowed them to be placed in
an exciting new world. There were many different types of plays during the Middle Ages: traveling
performers, liturgical dramas, vernacular plays, cycle plays, and morality plays. All of these made up
theater during the Middle Ages, and helped it to grow and change into what it is today. The Middle
Ages, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These plays took place in Middle Ages between 1200 1350. Miracle plays were one type of vernacular
drama. They had the same concept of liturgical plays, but were more focused on the saints. Mystery
plays were also a type of vernacular drama, and were very close to liturgical plays. These plays were
usually acted by churchmen ( Vernacular ). As the church s control over the plays decreased, cycle
plays came in. Cycle productions were made up of several short plays. Unlike liturgical drama, these
plays did not have to be religious. Depending on the type, cycle productions could be relatively short,
or they could take days to finish. Three hundred actors were not unusual for these plays (Robinson).
Just like with other parts of society during the Middle Ages, women were not in theater. All of these
plays were impacted or controlled by the church. The plays were always reviewed by the church, and
they could disapprove a production. The churches impact on theater declined the most in the 14th

Trainspotting Friendship Quotes
Irvine Welsh s novel Trainspotting centres on Mark Renton and his group of friends, who are drug
addicts living in 1980s Scotland, and follows their misadventures as their lives begin to deteriorate.
While the detrimental effects of heroin and other drugs are clearly displayed, the negative effects of
their unhealthy friendships are less obvious but equally toxic. Friendship in Trainspotting is a
destructive force because it is corrupted by selfishness; it becomes an addiction which mirrors that of
drug abuse. For the characters of Trainspotting, the positive aspects of their friendships have been lost
and replaced by drug use. Renton, Sick Boy, Spud, and Begbie have been friends a long time, having

Kazuo Ishiguro does an excellent job in explaining the conditions of Hailsham in his book Never Let

Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Essay
Civil Liberties and Civil Rights are two terms that are often used interchangeably in America. Since
the founding of our nation there has always been the debate of the limit of government and what rights
were guaranteed to each individual. Many of the architects of our government feared that national
government could one day become too powerful and begin to infringe on the individual rights of the
citizens. As a result, a Bill of Rights was added to our constitution. The Bill of Rights serves as a
guide of what the government cannot do. Civil Liberties simply establish precedent on what rights the
United States government cannot abridge on. Civil Rights, on the other hand applies to the rights of
individuals. Over the history of our nation the question of civil rights has found itself becoming a
pillar of our legal system and has been very instrumental in our quest to become a more perfect union .
In recent history one civil liberty that has caused a continual controversial debate is the second
amendment, in addition to how it applies to gun control measures that are being proposed in order to
decrease the level of mass shootings. The second amendment clearly defines the intention of
individuals to have the right to bear arms. In order to understand why gun control advocates have
failed to secure effective gun control legislation, we must explore the reasoning why the second
amendment is interpreted the way it is and should Americans be allowed to own guns? The

Theme Of Suffering In The Aeneid
Throughout the Aeneid, a constant theme of suffering is made apparent. Whether it be in war, in
travels, in his meeting others; Aeneas journey is anything but normal. The gods are torn on the topic of
Aeneas; some support his journey and his goals while others oppose them vehemently. Because of this
contrast in support, Aeneas often becomes the subject of their conflict. Torn between two sides in this
never ending spat, Aeneas is forced to persevere through great contention between those of a higher
power. In lines 450 476, Book VI, Aeneas states in a speech to Dido, sed me iussa deum, quae nunc
has ire per umbras, per loca senta situ cogunt noctemque profundam, imperiis egere suis; (I was
commanded by gods, who drove me by their decrees, that now force me to go among the shades,
through places thorny with neglect, and deepest night). Aeneas most recent endeavor was to travel to
Hades, among the shades, where no one before had gone and come back unscathed. Aeneas, forced to
attempt the impossible, ventures into the underworld. The lines 384 425 in the Aeneid book 6 most
directly correlate with the suffering theme that is found throughout the passages. The underworld is a
dark and depressing place, where it seems as though the only light sources are the pits of lava and fires
brewing about. Charon, the ferryman across the River Styx, is not only a suspect and depressing

Comparing Frankenstein And Beloved
Beloved/ Frankenstein Comparison Essay The themes of love and family provide a strong foundation
for many stories throughout the history of literature. However, few novels exhibit conflicts of these
themes breaking apart, conveying a broken relationship, a search for vengeance, and resentments that
stray away from conventional intimate kinships. Two such novels, Frankenstein and Beloved
exemplify these complex relationships through the similar characteristics of the Monster and Beloved
herself in their respective novels. Their common function in relation to the main protagonist outlines
their parallel nature throughout the plot. However, their different upbringings, as well as disjointed
motives, provide for their contrasting traits and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Was I, a monster, a blot upon the earth from which all men fled and whom all men disowned? (Shelly,
85) The monsters cries of agony in the loneliness of the world he was placed in emphasizes the
uniqueness of his character that coincide with the paranormal origins of Beloved. Shelly and Morrison
have carefully constructed these characters to achieve reconciliation amongst their main protagonist,
Victor Frankenstein and Sethe respectively, in their different spheres of conflict. Victor struggled with
accepting his creation as something of value, and Sethe fought a war of the past, with her earlier
experiences that marked her. On the surface, both the Monster and Beloved share several
characteristics that enunciate their underlying purpose in the novels. They are non human, conscious
manifestations of characters guilt. They share a parental bond with their creator (Sethe being the
mother and Victor as a surrogate father), but their upbringings lack the foundations that make a
healthy family. They seek revenge on those who abandoned them, yet both exhibit a sense of
purposeless that consumes their attention as conveyed by Beloved s repetitive reassurances: I am not

In all psychological and biological assessment, the use of culturally attuned assessments is top priority. We may define culturally informed psychological assessment as an approach to evaluation that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity, worldview, language, and other culture related variables as they may impact the evaluation process or the interpretation of resulting data (Cohen, Swerdlik, Sturman, 2013). • 6. Contributions Of Louisa May Alcott Good books, like good friends, are few and chosen; the more select, the more enjoyable Louisa May Alcott. There are so many novels that have changed American literature because of their authors. One of which is Louisa May Alcott. Examples of her work consist of Little Women, Hospital Sketches, Little Men, and so many more. These novels all have their own personal story and genre. Although Alcott was raised in poverty, she proved to be an incredibly inspiring American author because of her realism and the variety of her writing. May Alcott was a passionate, driven lady that was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, on November 29th, 1832. Her family and friends consisted of, Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Theodore Parker (Louisa 1). These wise, educated men were Alcott s mentors growing up. She looked up to them for their knowledge of academics. She, herself, was educated by her father, Amos Alcott until 1848 (Louisa 1). She got some of her inspiration for her writing growing up. Some influences of her writing came from being ...a nurse during the Civil War (Kellman 39). This tramatic experience gave her audience a unique perspective and it also helped the story seem sensible. Her audience felt like they were actually at war because of her talent in writing literature. Also, her experiences with poverty provided not only content and substance of much of her later writing.. Submarine warfare has been a military tactic tried again and again since the 1600s. So why have we not heard of submarine warfare during the civil war? Well, it is because both the Union and the Confederacy had their share of secret scientific research during this time, making sure that no one knew of their projects. Both sides would use submarines for different purposes altogether though, the Union would use them to clear out Confederate harbors that contained hostile ships, while the Confederacy would use the submarines to go against the naval blockade in the Atlantic Ocean ordered by the Union. The very first successful submarine attack was by Lieutenant George E. Dixon and his crew aboard the CSS H. L. Hunley, a Confederate submarine. They spotted a Union ship by the name of USS Housatonic, and submerged. Once in range they fired a torpedo which rammed itself into the enemy vessel. Once they hit their mark they retreated to a safe distance and triggered the explosive, making history as they conducted the first successful submarine attack. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The audition was during band camp, and we have trained all summer for it. Unfortunately, I did not succeed in becoming the next drum major. From this experience, I have learned that failure can be a valuable teacher, to commit to areas where I find the most passion and to manage my tasks at hand more effectively. • 13. How Exercise And Different Body Positions Essay Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with the electrocardiograph to help us determine the heart electrical activity. As well as, to observe how exercise and different body positions(conditions) can affect the activity of the heart. Introduction Trained professionals can look at the EKG tracing and determine if the heart is normal or if the heart is abnormal. An ECG records the electrical activity of the heart. The heart produces tiny electrical impulses which spread through the heart muscle to make the heart contract (Kenny, 2015). There are two different types of cells. Autorhythmic (electrical) cell begins electrical activity and triggers contractile fiber, and contractile (myocardial) generates force to pump blood. With each heartbeat the cardiac system starts with the pacemaker (called the SA node) that conducts electricity. The electrical current travels from the SA node and signals the atria to contract. Then into the Antrioventucular node, which signals the ventricles. Eventually, into a bundle of his, left and right bundle branches, and lastly Purkinje fibers. Purkinje fibers then stimulate the contractile fibers. In addition, the EKG (electrocardiogram) illustrates a series of waves and flat lines (isoelectric) usually seen on computer monitors. Waves represent electrical activity through the heart and the physical events that take place in the heart, systole (contraction occurs and blood pumps into the arteries) and diastole (blood ... In researching the reception of the Divinity School Address, I encountered not only widely known and hostile criticism from Andrews Norton, but positive appraisals from writers such as Orestes Brownson. • 18. The Diffusion Of Water Across A Permeable Membrane Essay INTRODUCTION Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a selectively permeable membrane (Raven et al. G 16). In this experiment, dialysis tubing was used to mimic the selectively permeable membrane to show what osmosis does when placed in different solute concentrations. We filled the dialysis tubes with different percentages of solute and placed them in beakers full of another percentage of solute. Through this experiment, I saw what happens when the tube becomes hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic. If two solutions have unequal osmotic concentrations, the solution with the higher concentration is hypertonic, and the solution with lower concentration is hypotonic. (Raven et al. 98) When two solutions have the same osmotic concentration, the solutions are isotonic. (Raven et al. 98) My hypothesis was that the bags placed in hypertonic solutions would shrink because the water would leave the bag to go to the higher concentration. The bags placed in isotonic solutions would stay the same weight because the water would be going in and out evenly. The bags placed in hypotonic solutions would swell because water would rush into the cell where the higher concentration was. If bag A shrinks then it is hypertonic. If bag B stays the same, then it is isotonic. If bag C and D swell, then they are hypotonic. METHODS To conduct this experiment we used four pieces of dialysis tubing, four pieces of string, one beaker filled with 10% sucrose and another beaker filled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During integrating, the parties begin to interact as more of a social unit. At this point both people in the relationship, start to take on characteristics of each other. Bonding, the fifth stage, is when the parties then go show the world that their relationship exists. This is typically when the relationship is given its most legitimacy. Differentiating, the sixth stage, is considered to be the beginning of the downward slope in Knapp s model. Within this stage, you start to see the individuals involved in the relationship, begin to pull away from each other. Now, this may seem like a negative, however it can be a positive action. By pulling away from each other they are able to maintain their individual identities while also maintaining a commitment to the relationship. At the seventh step, Circumscribing, members of the relationship tend to decrease their communication in quantity and quality. • 28. The Rights Of Animal Rights Animal Rights Animals Rights is a big discussion that has been around for while. Many argue since animals aren t human, it doesn t matter how they are treated or taken care of. There are others that do care how our animals are treated and taken care of. Animal rights are rights believed to belong to animals to live free from use in medical research, hunting, and other services to humans. This topic has been around for a while but has become more absolute (Environmental Encyclopedia, Opposing Viewpoint). Animal rights involves personal, social, legal, religious, cultural values, belief, and decisions. This alone causes the viewpoint to vary based on many factors. Add in the many benefits animals have for humans and the lines are blurred further. Animals should be treated humanely as they are living breathing beings and are aware of their lives. Animals have similar levels of biological complexity, they make conscious choices, and they are conscious and aware they exist. Animals should have rights because many of them provide companionship for humans. Therapy dogs are canines that might be trained to provide affection and comfort to people in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, disaster areas, and people with autism (General SHCS Info). Farm animals provide services for humans such as producing milk, eggs, and wool. Animals like horses can be used to pull a plow, wagon, carriage, and can be ridden to go to places. 62% of all U.S. households more than 72.9 million ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Steeple Vs Eagen Case Study Steeple v. Eagen Eagen was in a situation where his instructor, and possibly other students, were in danger. Each state and the federal government allow for the right to self defense. However, states have developed rules which define when self defense is allowed. Factors that must be examined are the imminent nature of the threat, reasonable nature of the threat, proportional response, duty to retreat versus stand your ground, and beyond. Eagen was within his right to respond to Steeple. Miller et. al states a more succinctly phrased test to determine if self defense is applicable. Miller et. al questions, Was the defendant privileged to use force to defend herself, and was the degree of force that she used reasonable? A person may defend themselves against any threat of physical contact or confinement. The notion of whether the threat is negligent or intentional is irrelevant. In fact, the defendant does not even have to be harmed to use this defense. Based on the idea that self preservation is the first law of nature even in err, a defendant must genuinely believe there is a threat. For example, if a police officer shoots and kills a criminal known to be armed who reached in their pocket for keys, the officer still can claim self defense because the notion the criminal was pulling out a gun, based on their background, is reasonable. Likewise, Eagan perceived not only imminent danger but a deadly danger that would likely have left Bonds dead if he had not responded. The fact that the danger was no real, has zero bearing on the legal situation. Another issue at hand is proportional response or reasonable force. It could be argued that Eagen responded in a disproportionate manner that led to the broken leg of Steeple. However, this argument is mitigated by the fact the deadly force may be used to address a threat of equal deadly force. Eagan did not likely intend to break Steeple s leg, only intending to prevent Steeple s aggression from escalation. However, this is largely irrelevant from a legal standpoint. At the time of Eagan s actions, Steeple was seemingly choking Bonds. Choking can equate to deadly force. If the simulation were real and Steeple continued to choke Bonds, he would succumb to ... • 34. What Made Up Theater During The Middle Ages There is that smaller world which is the stage, and that larger stage which is the world, Isacc Goldberg. These are important words, because theater is valued in our world today, and was especially important during the Middle Ages. The church was the main source of order and security during this time. Going to heaven was the only thing the people really lived for because they had nothing else. Theater was one of the few things the people of this time could find entertainment in. Theater helped the people escape from the unexciting and rough world they lived in, and allowed them to be placed in an exciting new world. There were many different types of plays during the Middle Ages: traveling performers, liturgical dramas, vernacular plays, cycle plays, and morality plays. As the church s control over the plays decreased, cycle plays came in. Cycle productions were made up of several short plays. Unlike liturgical drama, these plays did not have to be religious. Depending on the type, cycle productions could be relatively short, or they could take days to finish. Three hundred actors were not unusual for these plays (Robinson). Just like with other parts of society during the Middle Ages, women were not in theater. All of these plays were impacted or controlled by the church. • 39. Civil Liberties And Civil Rights Essay Civil Liberties and Civil Rights are two terms that are often used interchangeably in America. Since the founding of our nation there has always been the debate of the limit of government and what rights were guaranteed to each individual. Many of the architects of our government feared that national government could one day become too powerful and begin to infringe on the individual rights of the citizens. As a result, a Bill of Rights was added to our constitution. The Bill of Rights serves as a guide of what the government cannot do. Civil Liberties simply establish precedent on what rights the United States government cannot abridge on. Civil Rights, on the other hand applies to the rights of individuals. Over the history of our nation the question of civil rights has found itself becoming a pillar of our legal system and has been very instrumental in our quest to become a more perfect union . In recent history one civil liberty that has caused a continual controversial debate is the second amendment, in addition to how it applies to gun control measures that are being proposed in order to decrease the level of mass shootings. The second amendment clearly defines the intention of individuals to have the right to bear arms. • 41. Theme Of Suffering In The Aeneid Throughout the Aeneid, a constant theme of suffering is made apparent. Whether it be in war, in travels, in his meeting others; Aeneas journey is anything but normal. The gods are torn on the topic of Aeneas; some support his journey and his goals while others oppose them vehemently. Because of this contrast in support, Aeneas often becomes the subject of their conflict. Torn between two sides in this never ending spat, Aeneas is forced to persevere through great contention between those of a higher power. In lines 450 476, Book VI, Aeneas states in a speech to Dido, sed me iussa deum, quae nunc has ire per umbras, per loca senta situ cogunt noctemque profundam, imperiis egere suis; (I was commanded by gods, who drove me by their decrees, that now force me to go among the shades, through places thorny with neglect, and deepest night). Aeneas most recent endeavor was to travel to Hades, among the shades, where no one before had gone and come back unscathed. Aeneas, forced to attempt the impossible, ventures into the underworld. The lines 384 425 in the Aeneid book 6 most directly correlate with the suffering theme that is found throughout the passages. The underworld is a dark and depressing place, where it seems as though the only light sources are the pits of lava and fires brewing about. Victor struggled with accepting his creation as something of value, and Sethe fought a war of the past, with her earlier experiences that marked her. On the surface, both the Monster and Beloved share several characteristics that enunciate their underlying purpose in the novels. They are non human, conscious manifestations of characters guilt. They share a parental bond with their creator (Sethe being the mother and Victor as a surrogate father), but their upbringings lack the foundations that make a healthy family.
