into several types or parts of speech.
An individual word can function as more
than one part of speech when used in
different circumstances.
3. FUNCTION OF PART OF SPEECH
Every sentence we write or say in English includes a few words of parts of
speech. Understanding parts of speech is essential for determining the correct
definition of a word when using the dictionary.
The parts of speech explain how a word is used in a sentence. It also indicates
how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the
sentence. Without these parts of speech a sentence cannot be formed or
completed.
The parts of speech describe the function of a word, not its meaning. One
word can have different functions. The function depends on how a word is
used in asentence.

pronoun, verb, adjective,
adverb, preposition,

Noun is a part of speech that refers to
a person, animal, place, thing, or idea.
The English word noun has its roots in the
Latin word nomen, which means “name.”
Every language has words that are nouns.
