3. Masthead- This contents page includes a simple masthead
located at the top of the page to simply show the audience
what page they’re on.
Main image- The main image is located at the top centre of
the page to show the audience at a first glance what’s on
the page. The main image shows a women outside a tour
bus with the headline under that quoting “touring special”.
This links into the main image and shows the audience a
visual look at the content itself.
The boarder around the main image-the boarder around
the main image helps put even more emphasis on the
image itself whilst also making it look as if it hasn’t just
been placed onto the contents page. An even further
boarder has been added around the short article and the
main image to show that they link and the story goes with
the picture.
Layout/ columns- The layout of the contents page is
divided into three small columns and this is split down the
page. The first column includes the index and the page
numbers, the second column is the short article and main
image whilst the thirds column further page references and
the reader is interested in certain then the third column
sections it out into category's.
Date- the date is located just bellow the masthead so the
reader can quickly notice the date of its release. This isn’t
too important and has been located just below the
masthead due to this.
Shot type on the main image- the shot used is a mid shot
with a slight tilt making it slightly a Dutch shot. This has
been used simply to show the simplicity of the shot and
make it feel like it has been quickly taken.
Further issue offer- This been located to the bottom right
of the page purely as when the reader turns the page, it
would quite hard to miss the offer. This deal has been put
onto the contents page to get more readers into buying
the magazine and subscribing for further magazines. By
doing so, MNE are getting loyal customers and are
guaranteed to make money from you buying it.

4. Rule Of Thirds- This magazine uses the rule of thirds
effectively due to in the how the bottom left has limited
information and it has not much content useful for the
audience.
Font- the font is inconsistent as the font changes for each
section of the page due to the how important the
information actually is. The masthead is quite big in
comparison to the text on the contents page due to the
fact that it is the contents page. The text is smaller then
the header purely so if the reader wants to read on, they
can and the header is supposed to lure the audience in to
read on throughout the magazine.
Page Numbers- The page numbers are located down the
first column (to the left of the page). By putting them all on
one side of the page, it helps the reader find anything in
the magazine easier and allows them to clearly see the
pages and their content.
Target Audience- the target audience is age ranged from
15-25 and mainly male so the contents page need to show
some informal styles as well as formal. The audience from
how are into the music that NME provides, stereotypically
are around that age range but the niche audience that
aren't might want to see some formal content and style.
The social class would stereotypically be a working class
and due to the magazine price, probably poorer families
who can afford the magazine.
Magazine Index- The magazine index has been located to
the left (first column) and has been put their to show the
audience clearly where the content for other pages are.
Also the brief summary of the page, tells the audience
what’s included on that certain page and by keeping it
short and snappy, they keep the audience interest.

5. Other contents pages
Other contents pages may include-
Grape quotes- to show a visual look to a page
whilst showing the audience a short glimpse of
what that page includes from a quote.
Captions in pictures- This will be used on some
contents pages to show that the picture links in
with the text and allows the reader to visual see
what the page offers whist telling them a short
bit about the page itself.
Puffs- They may include a puff to lure the
reader into the magazine and tell them of a
deal/ offer they can possibly get. Puffs are often
used on front covers of the magazine but can
also be added onto the contents page to further
engage the readers interest.
