Music Magazine Codes & Conventions For A Contents Page
Masthead The masthead is used to draw attention to this particular page, it is also link to the main image on the contents page. This will give the audience a better understanding of what the main image is about.
Columns Columns are used to give a professional look to the contents page and create an easy understanding for customers when they are reading the content, this also divides the page into sections.
Multiple Images Multiple images are used to show the other content that will be featured within the magazine that are relevant.
Contents Page Numbers These numbers are used to show customers a clear link between the contents number and some of the images shown.
Main Image The main image is used to show the audience what the main story is about within the magazine.
Advertising Other Magazines This is done to make you aware that tge same magazine has published similar articles on a variety of different bands that the customers may find interesting.
Subheadings Subheadings are created to group together different information that falls under that particular category.
Background The background is usually a plain colour, this is so no attention is drawn away from the images and text used.
Colour Scheme Every magazine will have a particular colour scheme, this is done so the magazine does not look messy.
Splash A splash is used to catch the audience's attention and make them aware of how they can benefit by reading further into the magazine.
Quotes This is done to create a more personal feel within the article, this is usually done on the main image.
Magazine Title The magazine title is shown to make customers aware of who published the magazine.
Text Quantity On the contents page it is mainly images compared to the amount of text used, the text that is used is to link with the images.
Sections Of Content Dividing content on a page into sections is done to make it easier for customers to find the exact information they are looking for.
Banners Banners are used to create more of a focus towards certain areas of the page.
Picture Of Front Cover The picture of the front cover is displayed in certain magazines, this is done as a reminder as to what the main headline and image was.
Issue Number And Date This is shown to make the customer aware of the number of magazines that have been published and how new it is.
Contact Info This is done so you can contact the magazine company or find out more information you possibly did not find out within the magazine.
Sublines These are implemented to make you aware of the most relevant information you would need to know.
Coverlines Coverlines are used to show the section of information that will be below.
Buzzwords Buzzwords are used to draw the audience’s attention.

  • 3. Columns Columns are used to give a professional look to the contents page and create an easy understanding for customers when they are reading the content, this also divides the page into sections.
  • 4. Multiple Images Multiple images are used to show the other content that will be featured within the magazine that are relevant.
  • 5. Contents Page Numbers These numbers are used to show customers a clear link between the contents number and some of the images shown.
  • 6. Main Image The main image is used to show the audience what the main story is about within the magazine.
  • 7. Advertising Other Magazines This is done to make you aware that tge same magazine has published similar articles on a variety of different bands that the customers may find interesting.
