Contents page
• Masthead as the top in large serif font, reminding the
reader who produces the magazine, date underneath
clear, giving informational needs to the audience.
• Features structured into three columns on each page
going with the conventions of a regional magazine,
headings in larger font and different colour so the reader
can easily navigate to different stories. Quite plain goes
with the target audience of the magazine.
• List of stories included in the magazine, meets the
readers cognitive needs.
• Images vary from long shots giving the reader a better
perspective of the area and close ups which instantly
show the audience what is being shown, page number in
the corners so customers are instantly directed to the
picture stories.
• Multiple pictures to display more articles to create
cognitive needs.
• Advertisement gets the audience attention.
• Title of the magazine in the top left corner reminds the reader of who
produced the magazine and meets informational needs.
• Masthead in larger font showing the reader what page they are on.
• Multiple images shows a larger amount of articles with in the
magazine meeting cognitive needs.
• Pictures make up most of the page this could show a younger target
as they are less interested in the text.
• Highlighted text in the features making the magazine easy to navigate
to each article, bright colours show magazine perhaps aimed at a
younger audience.
• List of what’s included in the magazine meeting the audiences
cognitive needs.
• Large number linking page to the images, goes with conventions of
magazine contents page. Colouring goes with the rest of page.
• Title of the production in top right corner in large text,
reminding the reader of who produces the magazine.
• Masthead in large Serif font making it look very
sophisticated, date above it meeting informational needs.
• Images showing articles inside the magazine, meeting
cognitive needs. Dotted images makes page quite busy and
messy, this makes the reader concentrate more on what’s
inside. Numbers matching image to what page sop the
reader can easily navigate to each article.
• Plain colour scheme goes with sophisticated style, and older
audience.
• Small titles organising articles making it easier to read and
navigate, a lot of text perhaps showing an older target
audience.
• Double page spread this is the style I think I will go for.
• Title/logo in the top right corner surrounded by colour making it
stand out, reminding the reader who produces the magazine. Date
and edition of the magazine ,meeting informational
• Images show snapshots of what’s inside making the page easy to
look at and meets the audiences cognitive needs.
• Text formed into columns to order the text, small titles so the reader
can easily see where’s what. Page numbers easy to see making it
easy to navigate.
• Colour scheme quite colourful shows it could be targeted for a
younger audience.
• Picture of celebrity (Jimmy Carr), with tag line ‘what’s on’ meets the
reader’s hermeneutic codes, enticing the reader to if Jimmy is in
their area.
• Masthead at the top of page, font quite playful perhaps
shows younger audience or for arty type people.
• Edition and date of magazine meeting informational
needs.
• Pictures in the centre of both the pages snaps of articles
inside, meeting cognitive needs. Colour in between
photos going with the target audiences. Numbers linking
picture to page going with conventions of magazine.
• Text in columns in either side of the pictures ordering the
articles, titles in bright colours going with the younger
target audience. Makes the magazine easy to navigate.
• Picture heavy less text, showing a younger target
audience.
• Double page spread which is what I think I will go for in
my task.
• Date of the edition in large bold writing at the top of the
page, meeting informational needs. Doesn’t have the title of
magazine unusual could be as the customer already knows
who produced it.
• Images at the top of the page placed neatly around each
other, gives insight into what articles are inside meeting
hermeneutic codes, number linking the picture to page a
conventional method to magazine contents pages.
• Text put into columns, ordering the articles making it easier
for the customer to read.
• Small titles of the articles with numbering next to them
making it easy for the reader to navigate through the
magazine. Titles of articles meeting cognitive needs,
intriguing the reader.
• Colour scheme very plain suggesting older target audience.
• Social media sites at the bottom at the bottom of the page,
giving the magazine a broader social media platforms, this
therefore widens their range of target audiences, people are
then more likely to purchase the magazine therefore making
the company more money.
Contents page: summary
• Text is commonly formed into columns, this is to order the page making it easier for the reader to navigate
through the magazine.
• Multiple images used to show articles in the magazine. Use of both close ups, and long shots. Number on
the picture linking article to page so the reader can go straight away to the picture which intrigued them.
• Title of magazine is often displayed on the page along with edition of magazine and date meeting the
customers informational needs.
• Title of the page usually in bold at the top of the page, use of San Serif font to give a more youthful feel to
the magazine appealing to a younger audience.
• Sub headings in bold and often larger then the rest of text to make it stand out and the reader can see what
articles are where.
• Numbers to the side of articles showing where article is.
• Add on’s including social media links can be used to get a broader social media platform.

  • 2. • Masthead as the top in large serif font, reminding the reader who produces the magazine, date underneath clear, giving informational needs to the audience. • Features structured into three columns on each page going with the conventions of a regional magazine, headings in larger font and different colour so the reader can easily navigate to different stories. Quite plain goes with the target audience of the magazine. • List of stories included in the magazine, meets the readers cognitive needs. • Images vary from long shots giving the reader a better perspective of the area and close ups which instantly show the audience what is being shown, page number in the corners so customers are instantly directed to the picture stories. • Multiple pictures to display more articles to create cognitive needs. • Advertisement gets the audience attention.
  • 3. • Title of the magazine in the top left corner reminds the reader of who produced the magazine and meets informational needs. • Masthead in larger font showing the reader what page they are on. • Multiple images shows a larger amount of articles with in the magazine meeting cognitive needs. • Pictures make up most of the page this could show a younger target as they are less interested in the text. • Highlighted text in the features making the magazine easy to navigate to each article, bright colours show magazine perhaps aimed at a younger audience. • List of what’s included in the magazine meeting the audiences cognitive needs. • Large number linking page to the images, goes with conventions of magazine contents page. Colouring goes with the rest of page.
  • 4. • Title of the production in top right corner in large text, reminding the reader of who produces the magazine. • Masthead in large Serif font making it look very sophisticated, date above it meeting informational needs. • Images showing articles inside the magazine, meeting cognitive needs. Dotted images makes page quite busy and messy, this makes the reader concentrate more on what’s inside. Numbers matching image to what page sop the reader can easily navigate to each article. • Plain colour scheme goes with sophisticated style, and older audience. • Small titles organising articles making it easier to read and navigate, a lot of text perhaps showing an older target audience. • Double page spread this is the style I think I will go for.
  • 5. • Title/logo in the top right corner surrounded by colour making it stand out, reminding the reader who produces the magazine. Date and edition of the magazine ,meeting informational • Images show snapshots of what’s inside making the page easy to look at and meets the audiences cognitive needs. • Text formed into columns to order the text, small titles so the reader can easily see where’s what. Page numbers easy to see making it easy to navigate. • Colour scheme quite colourful shows it could be targeted for a younger audience. • Picture of celebrity (Jimmy Carr), with tag line ‘what’s on’ meets the reader’s hermeneutic codes, enticing the reader to if Jimmy is in their area.
  • 6. • Masthead at the top of page, font quite playful perhaps shows younger audience or for arty type people. • Edition and date of magazine meeting informational needs. • Pictures in the centre of both the pages snaps of articles inside, meeting cognitive needs. Colour in between photos going with the target audiences. Numbers linking picture to page going with conventions of magazine. • Text in columns in either side of the pictures ordering the articles, titles in bright colours going with the younger target audience. Makes the magazine easy to navigate. • Picture heavy less text, showing a younger target audience. • Double page spread which is what I think I will go for in my task.

Doesn’t have the title of magazine unusual could be as the customer already knows who produced it. • Images at the top of the page placed neatly around each other, gives insight into what articles are inside meeting hermeneutic codes, number linking the picture to page a conventional method to magazine contents pages. • Text put into columns, ordering the articles making it easier for the customer to read. • Small titles of the articles with numbering next to them making it easy for the reader to navigate through the magazine. Titles of articles meeting cognitive needs, intriguing the reader. • Colour scheme very plain suggesting older target audience. • Social media sites at the bottom at the bottom of the page, giving the magazine a broader social media platforms, this therefore widens their range of target audiences, people are then more likely to purchase the magazine therefore making the company more money.

Contents page: summary • Text is commonly formed into columns, this is to order the page making it easier for the reader to navigate through the magazine. • Multiple images used to show articles in the magazine. Use of both close ups, and long shots. Number on the picture linking article to page so the reader can go straight away to the picture which intrigued them. • Title of magazine is often displayed on the page along with edition of magazine and date meeting the customers informational needs. • Title of the page usually in bold at the top of the page, use of San Serif font to give a more youthful feel to the magazine appealing to a younger audience. • Sub headings in bold and often larger then the rest of text to make it stand out and the reader can see what articles are where. • Numbers to the side of articles showing where article is. • Add on’s including social media links can be used to get a broader social media platform.
