Equality Between Women And Men Essay
Equality between Women and Men, or Gender Equality, means equality of rights and freedoms. For
equal opportunities for participation, recognition and appreciation of women and men, In all areas of
society, political, economic, labor, personal and family.
Thus, more and more profound changes are taking place in the traditionally and social construction of
gender roles according to sex, leading to a conception of the masculine and differentiated and
hierarchical in terms of importance, according to which they were attributed to the man roles and
responsibilities in the public domain, livelihoods, and results orientation, Competitiveness, and
strength, and to women s private, home based and family based roles, on the basis of In more
emotional and relational characteristics
In fact, new realities to this commonly accepted concept of the familiar model appeared, because of
various changes in family structures, which allow us to recognize the existence not of one but of
several family models (single parent families, reconstituted families, families of dual professions) in
which the dominant emphasis is on the fact that both elements of the couple to have an active attitude
towards work, with women taking a more participation in the public sphere.
Speaking about Gender Equality today is so fundamental, especially if we observe that the Women s
participation in the labour market was not accompanied by growth of men s in the family role.
The gender equality is a very

Curiosity In Fitcher s Bird
In Fitcher s Bird, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm emphasize that curiosity [gives] no rest as the women
could not contain their suspicions of what was behind the door of the locked room (Bird 1). The
Grimm brothers provide the reader with a life lesson focusing on how innocence and curiosity can
ultimately lead to your downfall, but with the help of family, you can learn to overcome those
obstacles and prevent those situations from happening again. Although all three sisters gave into their
temptation of curiosity, each individual sister learned that curiosity [kills] the cat and that people will
take advantage of your innocence.
The women s coming of age story exposes how naïve they are within the real world. As a result, the
sorcerer uses emotional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The third sister is the key to the other sisters coming of age process because although they learned
their lesson, the third sister is the one that put their body parts together and got them back home safely.
For example, the Grimm brothers describe the third sister as clever and shy to separate her from her
sisters and their curiosity that got the better of themselves (Bird 2). By possessing these
characteristics, the third sister was able to still see what was behind the locked door, yet be clever
enough to get away with it by carefully [setting] the egg aside , so the egg would not be stained with
the blood of the previous victims (Bird 2). Also, once the third sister passes the test of not opening the
locked room, the sorcerer then made her his wife. Therefore, the third sister takes over the position of
power by making the sorcerer secretly carry his sister s body parts in a basket back to her home.
Because the third sister had the position of power, she used her sly characteristic as a tool to invite the
sorcerer and his gang for a wedding feast that was actually a lure into a trap to set the house on fire in
order to prevent the three sister s situation to happen to anyone else in the

Controversial Themes In American History X
The 1998 movie American History X was a controversial American crime/drama film written by
David McKenna and directed by six time Grammy nominated music video director Tony kayne. The
film American History X was kayne s feature film debut , and showcased all of kayne s trademarks;
often filled with self hated and regret, trying to atone for the past failures, use of flashbacks , often
tackle controversial social themes and films scenes in black and white. ( Tony Kaye Biography IMDb,

surrounding the ideology. Kayne disowned the final cut of American History X, and tried to have his

Why I Should Not Get Up On Material Possessions
I used to be a person who was hung up on material possessions. I was always wanting more, never
satisfied with what I had. Whenever I would go to the mall, I would want everything that I saw. If I
had money I would always spend it. I was constantly buying things that I didn t need, only used once,
or would stay in my closet with the tags on. I felt like I was unfortunate because I didn t have a new
outfit every week, and I couldn t get a new pair of shoes every time I walked out the door, but that all
changed the summer going into freshman year. My father suggested, to go on a border immersion trip
to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He thought that it would be a good idea to read what it was like to live on
the border. But, no matter how many times we got together or how many books we read, nothing
could have prepared me for what I was going to experience while I was down there.
I left on July 20 on a plane headed for Laredo, Texas. I would be staying at a relative s near Laredo
and then every morning we would cross over the border into Mexico and go work at a daycare center,
Valdes Suarez Maria Irene . Our first day there we didn t go to the daycare center, instead we met
some friends of my father s friends, Jesus and Irene. They live in Nuevo Laredo, and what they do is
help out the people in their community. They also help people who are coming down from the United
States to help out for the first time or people who are coming back from Central or South America and

Luke Skywalker Research Paper
The Leadership of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... there
were two exceptional leaders by the name of Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. As many know, these
two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise, Star Wars. For
those that do not know, Darth Vader is the villain who leads a heinous army known as The Empire.
Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega weapon capable of destroying
entire planets known as the Death Star. Luke Skywalker defies all odds as he uses the methods of
stimulation and team building to try to lead the Rebels in an uprising against the tyrants. Each of these
leaders is very successful in their own unique methods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transformational leaders provide vision and a sense of mission (Bass, 1990, p.22). Luke Skywalker
was excellent at this. He had a unique ability to rally people from hundreds of different worlds for the
single cause of ending Imperial Oppression. One of his primary mission statements is to believe in
your cause. According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to have a passion for what they do,
which usually leads to the job being done better and more thoroughly. This type of leadership also
adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will begin to think and act on their own,
progressively turning into a leader of their own followers. Darth Vader on the other hand, uses the
transactional approach by inspiring by means of rewards and punishment. If a Stormtrooper, which is
one of the empire s soldiers, doesn t complete his orders, then Vader very well might put him to death.
If he does perform his duty, then he will get the reward of continuing his life. This is obviously an
extreme example of transactional leadership, but the idea of it stays true to goal based

Why I Do Not Travel
Travelling means to visit different places, experience their culture and society, and meet new people.
People travel to find pleasure and adventure from these experiences. But, there are some people who
do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I came
here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different society and
culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in Bulgaria for
almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to my home
country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel; money,
transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a student,
especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in Bulgaria
costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to Sofia, I spent
money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such as visiting the
local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and pleasure I will get from
that. Secondly travelling starts by planning destination, buying ticket of the bus, train or plane and
preparing luggage, etc. But sitting on the plane or bus for many hours is not comfortable at all. Also,
you will get tired and bored. I have spent eleven hours

Worl World History
Perspectives all are different; sometimes they change and sometimes they stay the same. World
History is both similar and different from all other history studied from 5th grade till 8th grade.
Similarity in history is looking back to a time and noticing it was almost the same as what has
happened before or after. Difference in comparing history is looking at a time and seeing this is very
unlike a time before this or after. The perspective of World History is unique to the history studied
during 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Always looking at something from the same perspective gets to be
the usual . Loving to change perspectives and look at things differently than other people may, world
history goes deep into the details of culture, talks about the world as one, shows human progression
through time, and shows specific changes the ancient humans have undergone. ... Show more content

Culture lets us look into religion as well as how people were similar and different than people today.
The culture described in the novel, about past human life, talks much about religion and
transformation. Studying about the Inca and Maya civilizations before, they had a culture with art,
architecture, and a unique style of clothing. World History culture talks about cultures from different
places. However, both histories talk about specific culture, but world history talks about the culture
that all humans had. This kind of history is about the world as a whole. Studying about the whole
world is amazing. Usually studying about the United States and a little of Latin America and South
America, this different type of history has curiosity build up, wondering about the past and what is in
store in the future. Past histories studied seemed so focused on one specific place at a time, while this
perspective gives a different meaning to history. This history shows how much we changed from the

Feste The Twelfth Night Fool
Feste the (not so much of a) Fool Throughout William Shakespeare s Twelfth Night, Feste exemplifies
the role of a jester and fool, but thoroughly demonstrates to his audience that there is more to him than
the other characters might see. Feste is often degraded by his fellow associates, and deemed inferior to
others because they view him for his lack of wits, but very few of them realize that Feste is anything
but a fool. Feste is Olivia s personal and professional fool, and is therefore given the license to kill
(with words). In the first scene that Feste is introduced to the reader, he is immediately stereotyped for
being the usual joker, and he even plays along with the part that others reckon him to play. In this
scene, Feste wittily

Does The Time Traveler A Utopia
Jennifer Vorel October 7, 2015 Dr. Hyde QHQ 1 When it Comes to a Utopia, Don t Get Your Hopes
Up Is the futuristic society described by the Time Traveler a utopia? In The Time Machine written by
H. G. Wells, the Time Traveler leaves 1895 during the Industrial Revolution in late Victorian England,
and arrives in the year 802, 701 AD. A utopia is an imagined state of things in which everything is
perfect. If asked to imagine what one s perfect world would be like, everyone s would be different.
Though the definition of a utopia is to an extent up for interpretation, I will provide a clear set of
principles and characteristics of one for the sake of this paper. By doing this I am able to compare it to
the book without discrepancy. In utopias, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Time Machine clearly favors a communistic society, as Wells himself was a fan of Karl Marx. The
novel successfully shows that capitalism can logistically separate classes to the point where it is
morally unfair. Wells is also supported by current events. In America, our middle class is getting
smaller while our lower class gets bigger. The stratification of classes and money in our capitalistic
economy is ridiculously uneven. Marxist communism on the other hand would place primary
ownership of the means of production in the hands of the state, creating a classless society. My second
Question is what would the issues be in a communistic society? In other words, what would 802, 701
AD look like if 1895 Britain was communistic instead of

Endosymbiosis
The hypothesized steps for the evolution of eukaryotic cells from prokaryotic organisms involved
mitochondria and plastids. Eukaryotic cells classical membrane bound organelles evolved from the
bacteria through a process called endosymbiosis, which ranks amongst the most important
evolutionary events in history. In the early 1960s, Stanier, Douderoff, and Adelberg referred to the
prokaryote eukaryote divide as the greatest single evolutionary discontinuity to be found in the present
day world While chloroplasts organelles in a plant cell originated from cyanobacteria through
endosymbiosis as well. Therefore, the process involved the following steps: The eukaryote
mitochondrion evolved from a small autotrophic bacterium that was engulfed by a larger primitive,
heterotrophic, eukaryotic cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The primitive eukaryotic cell was also eventually able to eat prokaryotes, a marked improvement to
absorbing small molecules from its environment ( Endosymbiosis The Appearance of the Eukaryotes ,
2017). This whole process of endosymbiosis started when the eukaryote engulfed and could not digest
an autotrophic bacterium; there is evidence suggesting that this bacterium was alphaproteobacteria,
which uses photosynthesis for energy. This opened up a new trend where the eukaryote provided
protection and nutrients to the prokaryote, and in return the prokaryotic endosymbiont returned the
favour by providing additional energy to its eukaryotic host through respiratory cellular mechanism.
In the long run this became a permanent arrangement in completing the endosymbiosis process
because the endosymbiont lost genes it previously used for its independent life and transferred others
to eukaryotes nucleus as it became more dependent on its new host for organic molecules and
inorganic

Kamehameha. Her bequest endowed the Kamehameha Schools, which specialize in educating the
children of native Hawaiians to this day. In 1846, Charles Reed Bishop arrived in Hawaii. The 24 year

ship put in at Honolulu for provisions. Bishop decided to wait out the winter in the Islands. He found
work with local Yankee merchants, soon becoming a clerk at the U.S. consulate. He met Pauahi and
soon began regularly calling on her at the Royal School. Though her family firmly reminded her of

Abstract This paper is about the use of animals by the military, specifically, canines, horses, dolphins
and even pigeons. Throughout the paper I will go into the history of the uses of these animals, the
training that the animals as well as the handlers go through, as well as current uses for these animals.
Finally I will also bring to light some animal heroes and famous animals associated with the military.
Today in the United States of America, we know freedom unlike other countries. In part this is from
the protection we receive from our United States military, today there are several branches protecting
us by land, sea and air; from the United States Marine Corp, the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force,
and the Coast Guard. Men and women alike put on a uniform and go to work, but unlike a regular 9 5
job the men and women of the US military protect us 24 7. In addition to the men and women of the
military, there are others such as K9 s and horses, as well as dolphins that have played their role in
protecting us and have made their impact throughout history and are now continuing to make in
impact both on and off the battlefield.

Ergot Essay example
Ergot
Ergot (Claviceps purpurea Tul.) is a poisonous fungus that is hazardous to animals and humans. It
appears to be a small, hard, black, elongated structure that grows on and contaminants grains, which is
called scelrotium. The appearance tends to look like mold. When eaten in quantity or small amounts
over a period of time it can be highly toxic. Furthermore, it is a major problem for humans in North
America but even more severe for animals. Humans are susceptible to being contaminated with this
poisonous fungus because ergot can grow on mushrooms, rye, wheat, and barley. These are products
that humans ingest everyday. Ergot is the most notorious poison because it includes several species of

The infection can occur by insects also.
According to Fuller and McClintock, ergotism has caused so many occurrences in epidemic and the
middle ages was known as St. Anthony s fire. In France many people died from this disease, which
was caused mainly from eating bread made from rye grains contaminated with ergot (p. 20).
Plant Toxin/Derivative Drug
Researchers state over fifty alkaloids are within the ergot sclerotia, but mainly ergonovine (also
known as ergometrine, ergobasine, ergotocine, ergotstetrine C19H23N3O2, ergotamine

ergosine C30H37N5O5, and ergovalide) is present in ergot. Most of the alkaloids contain thirty to
thirty five carbon atoms, although some have a smaller number. Therefore, these alkaloids can be
classified as polypeptides. All ergot alkaloids form lysergic acid. Lysergic acid diethylamide, LSD, is
the most powerful compound known that produces imitations of severe mental disorders. Ergot
alkaloids not only have the indole structure but the other ring system and side chains as well.

Rhodesia American Revolution
Around the start of 1922, The British South African Company ended. The white European settlers
were presented with the choice of the Union of South Africa or a separate colony included in the
British empire. Rhodesia rejected the offer of the Union of South Africa, and the colony joined the
United Kingdom. Although Rhodesia made its own decisions, the United Kingdom had the right to
veto any action. In an effort to bring beneficial resources to the country, Southern Rhodesia joined a
Federation between Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Along with Southern Rhodesia, Northern Rhodesia left
the federation as well as Nyasaland. After much crisis, the Central African Federation ended. As black

The Economic Reforms in India Since 1991
It has been over twenty years since the unlikely combination of P.V. Narasimha Rao as Prime Minister
and his Oxford educated finance minister finally liberated (so they claim) the Indian economy from
overwhelming government control.
It was a rotting edifice based on institutionalized scarcity, wildly illogical price controls, hilariously
shoddy products, protectionism and endemic underperformance was swiftly demolished in 100 days of
inspired action. The Socialist Utopia powered by the fevered imaginations of Nehru and Mahalanobis
which seemed forever doomed to rot at the so called Hindu Rate of Growth was now dead and buried,
just like them.
In the iconic Union Budget of 1991, Singh tabled the New Economic Policy or NEP, which ... Show

But one can argue that modern India has always dispossessed and ignored its poorest of the poor who
are routinely bullied by the state.
Now the dominant discourse has framed the so called Great Development Challenge as an effort to
extend the dynamism of liberalism to those denied access and equal opportunity (Tripathi 2011). This
does not make accounts of horrendous poverty any less legitimate, not does it make the suicides of
farmers any less tragic.
But some argue that the statistics speak for themselves. In 1991, 35.8% of India s population of 846
million, that is, about 300 million people, lived on less than one dollar a day, which is the generally
accepted measure that economists use worldwide to define absolute poverty (in a strictly global
context, as opposed to relative poverty, which is necessary an intra state indicator) . Ten years later,
the figure dropped to 27.5%. By 2006, with India s population at 1.02 billion people, that necessarily
implied that there were 270 million people living in absolute poverty. In the intervening years, when
India added 115 million people, those living in absolute poverty fell by 30 million. Had the poverty
rate remained as it was, that is 35.8% , there have been 365 million poor people. Thus we are able to
argue, with some fairly reasonable certainty that the economy, within this timeframe lifted 95 million
people out of absolute poverty.

Digestion Research Paper
Digestion begins with the process of mastication; food enters the mouth and the teeth begin to crush
and grind the food into smaller pieces to form a bolus. Saliva is secreted from nearby salivary glands,
which not only moistens food for easier swallowing, but also begins chemical digestion. Swallowing
(deglutition) occurs next; at the beginning of a swallow the tongue voluntarily pushes the bolus
upwards against the palate and backwards towards the pharynx. Involuntary reflexes are then initiated
in order to prevent food from entering the respiratory tract; the uvula closes off the nasal cavity and
the epiglottis covers the glottis and seals off the larynx. As the bolus approaches the esophagus the

What Is Bargaining Power Of Suppliers
1. Bargaining Power of Supplier: According to Akbar and Inggriantara, 2012, p. 392, Supplier s power
is about how the supplier increases the prices of their products. Normally, the suppliers will have the
power to increase the price when the switching costs of the products were high, the distinctiveness and
inimitability of the products as well as the importance of the customer to the company and so on.
When the power of suppliers high, the snacks industries will be less attractive. For example, when the
supplier can suppress the high profitability of the snacks industry to what they sell by raising the price

Classical Approach And Human Relations Approach
When looking at both the Classical Approach and the Human Relations Approach in a comparative
sense, it is easy to clearly point out the vast differences between the two methodologies given that
many of the core principles and beliefs of each organisational model are polar opposites of eachother.
However in saying that, both approaches consider themselves to be the One best approach , which I
believe to be a common flaw amongst the two.

organisational models. I myself consider the human relations approach to be superior to that of the

Although it is not the official slogan of the company, People are our business , is something the
organisation very much takes to heart but for a different reason to that of Company A. Company B s
business is built on human skill, imagination and innovation and for that reason they have had to adopt
an approach which harnesses and facilitates that.
Although a clear hierarchy is in place, Company B promotes the illusion of a flat structure whereby
managers and subordinates are considered equals in terms of skills and ideas they can bring to the
table. Communication is open and uninhibited, team work and informal groups/pairings are
encouraged and autonomy in terms of work and task design is the norm.
Company B ensures that even an employee coming in at the bottom earns above the market average

Linguistic Factors Of Diglossia
The contact between languages is one of the various fields investigated by socio linguistics.
Commonly it is thought that monolingualism is the most usual linguistic behaviour but language
studies disprove this belief showing that all speech communities and individuals hold a rich linguistic
repertoire which may include two or more distinct languages, different varieties of the same language
and a wide range of registers, styles, social codes etc.
The concept of linguistic repertoire is not to be intended as a mere sum of linguistic codes since it also
concerns the way such codes interact with one another, their hierarchy and the rules running their use.
In order to clear up the logic underlying the relations emerging from the steady contact among
languages sociolinguistics introduced concepts such as diglossia code switching, bilingualism, dilalia
etc.
In the following essay the focus will essentially be on the difference between the concepts of diglossia
and code switching alongside with the description of some examples supported by an attempt to
identify the non linguistic factors which affect speakers linguistic choices.
The first scholar to introduce the term diglossia was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Classical Arabic is the H variety used for very formal interactions, in writing, university lectures and

choice of the appropriate variety in the right context is relevant in so far as it signals the speaker s
belonging to and understanding of a linguistic culture . In fact the ignorance of such principles is
considered a real social gaffe and is responsible for the stigmatisation of the speakers who are not able

The Color Purple Essay
Missionary work is defined as the spread of Christianity ( westernized culture) to other countries.
Christianity had a powerful impact on African culture and religious beliefs. Long after the early
missionaries left African culture and tradition are still considered barbaric and uncivilized.
In the novel The Color Purple , Nettie met the reverend and his wife corrine who were both Christian
missionaries. Nettie had the opportunity to follow the reverend and his wife to Africa to spread the
word and also educate them but without knowing they were not only going to spread the word but also

which emphasized the role of childbearing. More scars were added throughout their youth and

Argumentative Essay On Vladimir Putin
In recent times, no one can take total power by force alone; you must offer something favorable to the
people in order to obtain support. Unfortunately, there are some countries that follow a dictatorship
system, which is a form of government that includes social and political power to ensure that the
individual s capability remains strong. Vladimir Putin is a contemporary dictator of Russia. His
rebelliousness as a child has led him to his leadership. His cold heartedness to his rivals and invasion
towards countries has led to an opposition towards him. Vladimir Putin s experience as a street thug
led him to his leadership, which easily rose him to power: Not only has he committed crimes against
humanity, but he has made groups of people and countries oppose him.
First of all, Putin had a very unique background. Masha Gessen, Russian and American journalist,
author, translator and activist who has been an outspoken critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin,
claims that ¨Putinś leadership resulted from his experience as a street thug¨ (Gessen 1). Putin was not
interested in school or the idea of success. When he was growing up, he always found himself in
fistfights. He would fight anyone who disrespected him in any way shape or form, such as scratching
them, biting them, and even ripping their hair off. Putin began looking for a place where he could
learn skills to complete his will to fight. He found Sambo, which is a Soviet martial art. Sambo had

Perfectionism Among Athletes
The significance of including perfectionism in this proposed study is due to it being a precursor of
burnout as well as having an association with burnout (Buyukbayraktar Temiz, 2015; Hill, Hall,

Literary Devices Of Wrapped In Red
Literary Devices of Wrapped in Red Kelly Clarkson s world famous song Wrapped in Red is a
successful song to America, as well being adapted internationally. Wrapped in Red is an American
song about how much Christmas influences the idea of falling in love in the artist s point of view.
Also, it s about how after many years of having a secret love, she will let her feelings loose in
Christmas day. The artist creates a romantic mood throughout the song, The song includes 3 important
literary devices, thoroughly analyzed, that make the song special and a success; imagery, repetition,
and the colors expressed as feelings from the artist, Kelly Clarkson. Although color expression isn t a

Her first statement of imagery was when she stated as her second line in the first verse, Snow is falling
down. This one s not hard to comprehend; it simply means that it s winter time and it s snowing in her
location area. When the artist also stated, So I m at your door with nothing more than words I ve never
said, indicates the pure fear of showing love to somebody you ve known for years in a friendly
manner. In other words, Clarkson is planning to confess her love, but there s a fear inside her that says,
He won t feel the same way. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown in Wrapped in Red was when
she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me yet wrapped in red. Even though
the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the artist did an incredible job using
imagery in this line. Since the time in the song is winter, white connects to the season because
everything is very clear. From the artist s point of view, her secret love has seen her as nothing more
than a friend; everything has been clear between them. Now, the artist wants to be noticed, and the
only way to do that, is to stand out and confess. It s incredible how rich Clarkson makes her imagery,

fog and nothing up on the screen projectors where the speakers and rafters were in the center of the

Pros And Cons Of Ibn Fadlan
The Rus Dialogues
On the issue of the sources, both present their benefits and hindrances. The Ibn Fadlan text, for
example, does not originate from Ibn Fadlan himself. It is instead a transcription of an account of his
voyages to Russia as a client to the ambassador to the king of the Saqaliba. This fundamental aspect of
the text reveals itself through repeated uses of Ahmad ibn Fadlan says, which automatically
demonstrates that Ibn Fadlan did not write this account since he would have dispensed with such
triviality. As such, its reliability is diminished, as it no longer represents a direct, first hand account
from Ibn Fadlan of his travels, but instead a third individual s transcription of his travels. Additionally,
Richard N. Frye translated the work from its historical language, presumably some form of Arabic, to
modern day English, further diminishing the integrity of the work. ... Show more content on

Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado
Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the
character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not
possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in the
cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly recomposes
himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness of the catacombs
(pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and Montresor is left to pretend
that he is unable to feel empathy.
The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so, proves
that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato, Montresor is
only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This new found
realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his feelings occurred
on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash displays how quickly the
entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly recover his composure and as a
result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the opposite is true. His remorse is
further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854). Montresor still has some remorse
left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask

Pros And Cons Of Police Militarization
Introduction:
Police brutality and police militarization are becoming hot topics of discussion in the United States
today. The dangers of police militarization are becoming more prevalent and cases of the use of brutal
force by police are becoming more common. Recently, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that
the Trump Administration s repeal an Obama era rule limiting the distribution of certain military
equipment such as tracked vehicles, camouflage uniforms, high powered rifles, bayonets, and grenade
launchers. With events like that of the killing of Michael Brown by a Ferguson, Missouri, by a police
officer, a massive show of force by cops decked out in military gear were deployed after dangerous
riots were conducted in the city. This then leads to the question at hand. Should police be militarized?
What is Militarization:
To better analyze the situation, we must first understand what militarization is. Militarization is the use
of military equipment and tactics by police officers. This includes the use of armored vehicles
,weapons like assault rifles, submachine guns, grenades, grenade launchers, sniper rifles, and SWAT
teams.

incident, there was an understandable reason that officers be better armed to face such situations in the
future. Since then, gang violence in inner cities like Chicago and terrorist incidents, especially after
the 9/11 attacks, have prompted many law enforcement agencies to ensure police officers are able to
cope with heavily armed adversaries, whether those adversaries are domestic or

It all started on September 11, 1962 on a sweet seemingly perfect day, there were no clouds to be seen
and I was sitting inside in my little black and gold chair that I got for my birthday. I would sit in the
chair and stare out the window waiting for my mama to get home. I sat there for at least for ten
minutes every day and then that is when mama would pull up in the driveway. I ran to the door and
stood there waiting for mama to walk through it. Mama opened the door and I ran straight towards her
and gave her the biggest hug I good.
Hi, mama! The little girl laughed
Hey baby girl, mama got you a gift! Mother smiled
What is it mama? The little girl giggled
Close your eyes Rin. Mother whispered
I could hear mama grabbing something out of her bag and her heels on the hard wood floor walking
back towards me click clack click clack .
Okay, Baby girl open your eyes! Mama Smiled
I opened my eyes and saw this cute doll that had a china face, porcelain skin, rosy cheeks, heart

Renewable Energy And Climate Change
Renewable Energy and Climate Change Global warming and climate change is one of the most
pressing issues in the contemporary society given its continued impacts on human life and the world s
ecosystem. The considerable effects of this issue have raised huge concerns among policymakers,
governments, and the public. As a result, various initiatives have been developed in attempts to lessen
global warming or climate change, especially those related to reducing the emission of greenhouse
gases to the Earth s atmosphere. Governments across the globe including the United Kingdom
government have adopted various policies that focus on dealing with the issue. There are various
policies that help in dealing with the issue including lessening greenhouse gases emissions, adapting
to the effects of climate change, and geo engineering of the climate system. The attempts by the UK
government to address this problem require an understanding of the increasing energy demands and its
future impact and use of suitable renewable energy sources. Outlook of Climate Change and Global
Warming Global warming and climate change attributed to increased emission of greenhouse gases
have continued to be pressing issues in today s society since they threaten the stability of the climate,
population, and economy of the world ( Meeting the Energy Challenge , 2007). The challenges

The Ecology Of The Cookie Cutter Shark
The Ecology of the Cookie cutter Shark (Isistius brasiliensis)
The off shore marine environment changes intensively with the change in the ocean depth. There are
three distinctive zones that can be classified along the depth which is the Epipelagic which extends
from the sea surface to a depth of 200 meters, the mesopelagic which extends from a depth of 200
meters to a depth of a 1000 meters and then the Deep sea which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters
to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). The Deep sea can then be divided into a further three zones
(Figure 01) Bathypelagic which extends from a depth of a 1000 meters to 4000 meters, Abyssopelagic
which extends from a depth of 4000 meters to 6000 meters and then the Hadopelagic which extends
which extends from a depth of 6000 meters to the sea floor (Castro Huber, 2010). Figure 01: Ocean

within the world (Martin, 2003). The main characteristics of this ecosystem is that it experiences very
low oxygen levels, the water temperature is extremely cold, the pressure within this area is very high
and sunlight do not penetrate to these depths. The species that do live within this environment are
highly adapted to these harsh conditions such as the Cookie cutter Shark (Isistius brasiliensis) (Figure

ABSTART
A modified cutoff function for Tersoff potential has been proposed in this paper, to estimate the
realistic mechanical behavior of single sheet of graphene. Success of any molecular dynamics based
simulation entirely depends on the empirical potential employed for estimating the interatomic
interaction forces. Cutoff distance in Tersoff potential that was earlier chosen arbitrarily has now been
optimized. Simulations were performed at different set of temperatures and strain rate to validate the
modified Tersoff potential with the existing experimental results. In detail comparison has also been
made with respect to mechanical behavior of graphene estimated with the help of modified Tersoff
potential and other potentials AIREBO, 2nd generation REBO and optimized Tersoff.

Due to outstanding mechanical, thermal and electronic properties, graphene is receiving increased
attention by the scientific community. Exceptional properties of graphene are owing to its hexagonal
monolayer of honeycomb lattice packed with carbon atoms. The mechanical properties of graphene

Some literary critics have contradictory views on Arundhati Roy s creative genius. Such critics have
perceived a rather new, arrogant girl showing up, one who even finds it gallant to be compared to

Use and Abuse of Benzodiazepines
Use and abuse of Benzodiazepines
Introduction
Sedative hypnotics, including benzodiazepines, are a group of drugs used to treat the symptoms of
anxiety, panic disorders, and insomnia.
Benzodiazepines are one of the most prescribed drugs which have abuse potential.
There must be special attention toward the patient s addiction history before these agents are
prescribed. An understanding of the toxicity and side effects of benzodiazepines, abuse patterns and
alternative anxiolytic and hypnotic agents may help clinicians to be safe from issues of medico legal
case.
Mechanism of action
It acts by following ways
Benzodiazepine receptors are linked mainly to γ amino butyric acid (GABA) receptors, which
sensitize benzodiazepine receptors to the neurotransmitter GABA, the most prominent inhibitory
neurotransmitter in the central nervous system.
Enhance the affinity of the recognition site for GABA by inducing conformational changes that make
GABA binding more efficacious.
Activation of the benzodiazepine GABA chloride ionophor complex is responsible for producing the
therapeutic anxiolytic effects of benzodiazepines and for mediating many of the side effects and,
possibly, dependence and withdrawal from these drugs.
Clinical use
Following are the use of benzodiazepines
Amnesia before or after surgery
Anxiety disorders
 Generalized anxiety disorder
 Panic disorder
 Phobias (social, simple)
 Post traumatic stress disorder

My Grandparents In Puerto Ricans
My grandparents were both born and raised in Cidra, Puerto Rico and so were their three children.
They wanted to start a new beginning. Though the exact date is forgotten my grandparents moved to
Cleveland, Ohio sometime in 1989. My grandparents were very poor when they lived in Puerto Rico
since there were not many job opportunities and barely any resources, my grandparents could barely
make ends meet. They wanted to give their children to have more opportunities and resources that they
didn t have when they were younger, so they decided to leave their home in Cidra. They choose to
move to Cleveland because they already had some family down here such as brothers, sisters, and
even cousins. When my grandparents got to Cleveland they already knew they made the right decision
for their family, Cleveland gave them a more stable life then what they had in Puerto Rico. There were
better educated schools in Cleveland for their children unlike in Puerto Rico, the food in Cleveland
was way more affordable, medicine as well, and it was easier to find jobs that paid well.
The first migration wave for Puerto Ricans came in 1917 when almost 2,000 people went to New
York. Another wave of Puerto Ricans traveled to New York in the 1940s. Similar to my family, the
Puerto Ricans went to New York to have fresh starts and to find new opportunities to better
themselves. They were also looking for jobs since there was a very high unemployment rate in Puerto
Rico that still somewhat exists today.

Shankman s View Of War
Shankman discusses the view of the war, and the sinking of the Maine, from the perspective of the
Methodist church. Throughout the church there was varying opinions of the explosion and the war
itself. Some people believed that the war would be necessary, while others believed there was no need
for a war. IN an editorial from a New York Methodist newspaper in April 1898: Should we now go to
war, insisted the Syracuse Northern Christian Advocate, our cause will be just, and Methodism will be
ready to do its full duty. Every Methodist preacher will be a recruiting officer (Shankman, 1973).
However, in the south, the Southern Christian Advocate pushed for people to help send aid to the
Cubans that are refugees and on the island; some groups even set up soup kitchens and churches
donated some money as charity. These opinions helped spread the divide after the attack on the Maine:
Generally, the Methodist press advised that rash accusations were unjust and foolish. The Nashville
Christian Advocate suspected that the explosion had been the work of a misguided Spaniard or
resulted from a fire on the Maine, and it thought that all premature judgments on the cause of the
sinking did more harm than good. (Shankman, 1973)
That view did not last long, by April 14 it was believed that the sinking of the USS Maine was not a
mere accident, The Atlanta Wesleyan Christian Advocate first believed that Spanish perfidy had

libertarians often focuses on the first two foundations Harm / care and Fairness / Cheating whereas

Pilate, but I do not think he is totally innocent in this case. He could have used his political power and

in his position? I think that there definitely is a counter argument to be made here, but I do not think I
would totally agree with Callie Callon by saying that Pontius Pilate is Villain, just based on the
biblical evidence provided in

Hazzard s A Thousand Naked Strangers
This world is full of many uncertainties. Some are pleasant surprises, while others become life altering
tragedies. Kevin Hazzard portrays this instability in his book A Thousand Naked Strangers, which
recalls his unimaginable, insane encounters as an EMT and paramedic in Atlanta, Georgia. During his
years of working on an emergency vehicle, witnessed pain and suffering, but also beauty and freedom.
He claims that the chaos and unpredictability is what made his job worth doing. Just as Hazzard s job
shows how disaster brings about freedom and beauty, art conveys this relationship in a similar way.
Although more well off individuals have better access to necessary resources, in order to truly create
beautiful, revolutionary works of art one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a child, Beethoven s father pushed him past his limits to be a musician. The young boy s neighbors
accounted for hearing weeping while he played the clavier, standing atop a footstool to reach the keys,
his father beating him for each hesitation or mistake ( Ludwig ). He was flogged on a near daily basis
and locked in the cellar and deprived of sleep for extra hours of practice ( Ludwig ). Due to the
inhuman amount of hours he spent playing music, Beethoven began showing flashes of the creative
imagination that would eventually reach farther than any composer s before or since ( Ludwig ). He
composed a piece entitled Cantata on the Death of Emperor Joseph II, which is now considered his
earliest masterpiece. In the early 1800s, Beethoven went deaf. This is an utter travesty for any
musician, but Beethoven persevered and created some of his best work. His pieces No. 3 8, the
Moonlight Sonata, the Kreutzer violin sonata and Fidelio are an astonishing output of superlatively
complex, original and beautiful music that remain unrivaled by any other composer in history (
Ludwig ). Along with being deaf, Beethoven struggled with anger management, absent mindedness,
greed, and paranoia. He channeled such mental obstacles and his deafness to create brilliant,
revolutionary masterpieces that triumph unchallenged

Physical Injuries Of A Prophylactic Ankle Brace
One of the most common injuries that is relatively seen in all sports, especially in basketball and
volleyball, is an acute ankle injury that accounts for about 10 to 25 percent of all injuries. Of all these
injuries that occur, almost ¾ of them are related to the lateral structures in our ankle. The most
common and minor form of these injuries is a lateral ankle sprain, which is caused by an inversion
stress to the joint of the ankle. When someone happens to sprain their ankle, the usual preventive
measures by athletic trainers and sports doctors are taken into action such as ankle taping, using of an
ankle brace, strengthening of the ankle, and therapy. Of all these, a prophylactic ankle brace is often
chosen to help reduce the chance of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the factors known to cause these abnormal movements in the joints of the lower extremity is
the use of a prophylactic ankle brace. One doctor was able to discover that using an ankle brace during
athletic performance did not increase the risk of injury. Our research showed that knee biomechanics
known to be risk factors for ACL injury did not appear to be negatively impacted by wearing a lace up
ankle brace. (Aerni, Giselle, 2012). If athletes wear prophylactic ankle braces during athletic
activities, then they are more likely to be subjected to knee injuries. The study will analyze the effect
that prophylactic ankle braces cause to the joints of the knee and determining if it increases the stress
placed on them. The primary function of a prophylactic ankle that is being used is to put a restriction
on the inversion range of motion it usually has, since it is where most injuries occur in an ankle sprain.
What people don t know is that it also decreases your overall performance, total range of motion, and
other kinematics as well. When a player is jumping and landing, the use of an ankle brace significantly
reduces the amount of internal and external rotation you have in your ankle. So, when the rotation of
the subtalar joint in the transverse plane is reduced, your leg and foot aren t able to

How Web 2.0 Has Forever Changed Online Communication And...
Web 2.0 has forever changed online communication and communication in general. Reddit has opened
up new ways to communicate and be a part of communities. These communities are now so integral to
our modern culture that they are used for more than just people discussing interests online. Reddit has
given has given content creators, business men, and politicians among others to manage and monitor
community activity. Filmmakers/television executives use these communities to monitor the fan base
of their respective media. They monitor these communities to look at fan feedback, to see what fans
like or dislike about the media they are associated with. This is common in television shows as
television executives need to know what fans are thinking about the show overall or the season
currently airing so they know what to improve on or what the fans want. An example of this is a
television executive for the television show Arrow . The executive Marc Guggenheim has an active
Tumblr and Reddit account and responds to comments on sub reddits and hosts AMA s (ask me
anything) to actively engage with the Arrow community. This helps keep entertainment media alive
and for shows in particular it helps keep fanbases active with weekly releases of shows. Shows such as
Supernatural and Game of Thrones have large active communities on Reddit with Game of Thrones
roughly having 465,699 active subscribers as of last year (Wikidot, 2015). Part of Game of Thrones;

The Metamorphosis
Without the constraints of external forces, is human nature inherently good or evil? In Franz Kafka s
novella, The Metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa s transformation into a monstrous vermin serves as a
window into the human psyche. Through lack of obligations, decreased sense of shame, and increased
sexual drive, Kafka reveals Gregor s relationship to the outside world weaken, as his internal instincts
grow stronger. Kafka utilizes Gregor s transformation as a symbol to show the dangerous potential of
the human id , a term coined by Sigmund Freud, to break down social norms. This psychological
venture reveals humanity s true instincts as animalistic, when not contained through personal and
societal pressures. Throughout the novella, Gregor s deeply rooted sense of guilt transitions from
having the power to drive his actions to merely plaguing his thoughts. Immediately after his
transformation, Gregor reveals that he has to deal with the problems of traveling, the worries about
train connections, irregular bad food, temporary and constantly changing human relationships...
(Kafka 4), in his daily work. Although he appears to hate his job, Gregor does not quit, as he has both
intrinsic motivation to provide and extrinsic pressure from his family to keep them afloat. Rather than
reflecting on his feelings and emotional baggage attached to his job, Gregor focuses on grievances set
in reality, and allows this to occupy his conscious mind. After Gregor s transformation, his

Whenever I would go to the mall, I would want everything that I saw. If I had money I would always spend it. I was constantly buying things that I didn t need, only used once, or would stay in my closet with the tags on. I felt like I was unfortunate because I didn t have a new outfit every week, and I couldn t get a new pair of shoes every time I walked out the door, but that all changed the summer going into freshman year. My father suggested, to go on a border immersion trip to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He thought that it would be a good idea to read what it was like to live on the border. But, no matter how many times we got together or how many books we read, nothing could have prepared me for what I was going to experience while I was down there. I left on July 20 on a plane headed for Laredo, Texas. I would be staying at a relative s near Laredo and then every morning we would cross over the border into Mexico and go work at a daycare center, Valdes Suarez Maria Irene . According to Bass (1990), this method inspires people to have a passion for what they do, which usually leads to the job being done better and more thoroughly. This type of leadership also adds a sense of independence to the follower. They will begin to think and act on their own, progressively turning into a leader of their own followers. But, there are some people who do not travel or do not like to travel. I am one of them. From one point, I am a traveler because I came here to study. Although I am going one place to another place and visiting with different society and culture, I have travelled for education, not for adventure or excitement. I have been in Bulgaria for almost two years, but I have not travelled yet during that time, except for going back to my home country. Why do I not travel? There are three reasons that explain why I do not travel; money, transportation and food. First of all, the travelling costs too much to me because I am a student, especially international student. Thus, I have not enough money to travel. Also, living in Bulgaria costs bit more than that in my hometown. Therefore, I try to spend less. When I went to Sofia, I spent money on the expenses of transportation and food, nothing on the other activities such as visiting the local museums. The less money I spend on the travel, the less satisfaction and pleasure I will get from that. Now the dominant discourse has framed the so called Great Development Challenge as an effort to extend the dynamism of liberalism to those denied access and equal opportunity (Tripathi 2011). This does not make accounts of horrendous poverty any less legitimate, not does it make the suicides of farmers any less tragic. But some argue that the statistics speak for themselves. In 1991, 35.8% of India s population of 846 million, that is, about 300 million people, lived on less than one dollar a day, which is the generally accepted measure that economists use worldwide to define absolute poverty (in a strictly global context, as opposed to relative poverty, which is necessary an intra state indicator) . Ten years later, the figure dropped to 27.5%. By 2006, with India s population at 1.02 billion people, that necessarily implied that there were 270 million people living in absolute poverty. In the intervening years, when India added 115 million people, those living in absolute poverty fell by 30 million. Had the poverty rate remained as it was, that is 35.8% , there have been 365 million poor people. Commonly it is thought that monolingualism is the most usual linguistic behaviour but language studies disprove this belief showing that all speech communities and individuals hold a rich linguistic repertoire which may include two or more distinct languages, different varieties of the same language and a wide range of registers, styles, social codes etc. The concept of linguistic repertoire is not to be intended as a mere sum of linguistic codes since it also concerns the way such codes interact with one another, their hierarchy and the rules running their use. • 25. Argumentative Essay On Vladimir Putin In recent times, no one can take total power by force alone; you must offer something favorable to the people in order to obtain support. Unfortunately, there are some countries that follow a dictatorship system, which is a form of government that includes social and political power to ensure that the individual s capability remains strong. Vladimir Putin is a contemporary dictator of Russia. His rebelliousness as a child has led him to his leadership. His cold heartedness to his rivals and invasion towards countries has led to an opposition towards him. Vladimir Putin s experience as a street thug led him to his leadership, which easily rose him to power: Not only has he committed crimes against humanity, but he has made groups of people and countries oppose him. First of all, Putin had a very unique background. Masha Gessen, Russian and American journalist, author, translator and activist who has been an outspoken critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, claims that ¨Putinś leadership resulted from his experience as a street thug¨ (Gessen 1). Putin was not interested in school or the idea of success. When he was growing up, he always found himself in fistfights. He would fight anyone who disrespected him in any way shape or form, such as scratching them, biting them, and even ripping their hair off. Wrapped in Red is an American song about how much Christmas influences the idea of falling in love in the artist s point of view. Also, it s about how after many years of having a secret love, she will let her feelings loose in Christmas day. The artist creates a romantic mood throughout the song, The song includes 3 important literary devices, thoroughly analyzed, that make the song special and a success; imagery, repetition, and the colors expressed as feelings from the artist, Kelly Clarkson. Her first statement of imagery was when she stated as her second line in the first verse, Snow is falling down. This one s not hard to comprehend; it simply means that it s winter time and it s snowing in her location area. When the artist also stated, So I m at your door with nothing more than words I ve never said, indicates the pure fear of showing love to somebody you ve known for years in a friendly manner. In other words, Clarkson is planning to confess her love, but there s a fear inside her that says, He won t feel the same way. The richest imagery Clarkson has shown in Wrapped in Red was when she stated, In all this white, you ll see me like you ve never seen me yet wrapped in red. Even though the idea was not directly clear, and quite hard to understand, the artist did an incredible job using imagery in this line. Since the time in the song is winter, white connects to the season because everything is very clear. From the artist s point of view, her secret love has seen her as nothing more than a friend; everything has been clear between them. Now, the artist wants to be noticed, and the only way to do that, is to stand out and confess. It s incredible how rich Clarkson makes her imagery, particularly with the use of colors and ... The Ibn Fadlan text, for example, does not originate from Ibn Fadlan himself. It is instead a transcription of an account of his voyages to Russia as a client to the ambassador to the king of the Saqaliba. This fundamental aspect of the text reveals itself through repeated uses of Ahmad ibn Fadlan says, which automatically demonstrates that Ibn Fadlan did not write this account since he would have dispensed with such triviality. As such, its reliability is diminished, as it no longer represents a direct, first hand account from Ibn Fadlan of his travels, but instead a third individual s transcription of his travels. • 31. Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in the cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly recomposes himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and Montresor is left to pretend that he is unable to feel empathy. The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so, proves that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato, Montresor is only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This new found realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his feelings occurred on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash displays how quickly the entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly recover his composure and as a result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the opposite is true. His remorse is further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854). Montresor still has some remorse left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask ... Success of any molecular dynamics based simulation entirely depends on the empirical potential employed for estimating the interatomic interaction forces. Cutoff distance in Tersoff potential that was earlier chosen arbitrarily has now been optimized. Simulations were performed at different set of temperatures and strain rate to validate the modified Tersoff potential with the existing experimental results. In detail comparison has also been made with respect to mechanical behavior of graphene estimated with the help of modified Tersoff potential and other potentials AIREBO, 2nd generation REBO and optimized Tersoff. 1.0 Introduction Due to outstanding mechanical, thermal and electronic properties, graphene is receiving increased attention by the scientific community. The study will analyze the effect that prophylactic ankle braces cause to the joints of the knee and determining if it increases the stress placed on them. The primary function of a prophylactic ankle that is being used is to put a restriction on the inversion range of motion it usually has, since it is where most injuries occur in an ankle sprain. What people don t know is that it also decreases your overall performance, total range of motion, and other kinematics as well. When a player is jumping and landing, the use of an ankle brace significantly reduces the amount of internal and external rotation you have in your ankle. So, when the rotation of the subtalar joint in the transverse plane is reduced, your leg and foot aren t able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reddit has opened up new ways to communicate and be a part of communities. These communities are now so integral to our modern culture that they are used for more than just people discussing interests online. Reddit has given has given content creators, business men, and politicians among others to manage and monitor community activity. Filmmakers/television executives use these communities to monitor the fan base of their respective media. They monitor these communities to look at fan feedback, to see what fans like or dislike about the media they are associated with. This is common in television shows as television executives need to know what fans are thinking about the show overall or the season currently airing so they know what to improve on or what the fans want. An example of this is a television executive for the television show Arrow . The executive Marc Guggenheim has an active Tumblr and Reddit account and responds to comments on sub reddits and hosts AMA s (ask me anything) to actively engage with the Arrow community. This helps keep entertainment media alive and for shows in particular it helps keep fanbases active with weekly releases of shows. In Franz Kafka s novella, The Metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa s transformation into a monstrous vermin serves as a window into the human psyche. Through lack of obligations, decreased sense of shame, and increased sexual drive, Kafka reveals Gregor s relationship to the outside world weaken, as his internal instincts grow stronger. Kafka utilizes Gregor s transformation as a symbol to show the dangerous potential of the human id , a term coined by Sigmund Freud, to break down social norms. This psychological venture reveals humanity s true instincts as animalistic, when not contained through personal and societal pressures. Throughout the novella, Gregor s deeply rooted sense of guilt transitions from having the power to drive his actions to merely plaguing his thoughts. Immediately after his transformation, Gregor reveals that he has to deal with the problems of traveling, the worries about train connections, irregular bad food, temporary and constantly changing human relationships... (Kafka 4), in his daily work. Although he appears to hate his job, Gregor does not quit, as he has both intrinsic motivation to provide and extrinsic pressure from his family to keep them afloat. Rather than reflecting on his feelings and emotional baggage attached to his job, Gregor focuses on grievances set in reality, and allows this to occupy his conscious mind. After Gregor s transformation, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
