I think Philip the Fortunate was a very good French King. He was known for being the first
French king of the Valois dynasty. His reign saw the beginning of the Hundred Years War and the
arrival of the Black Death.

In May of 1328, Philip of Valois became King Philip VI of France. In August of that year, the count
of Flanders appealed to Philip for help in putting down a revolt. The king responded by sending his
knights to slaughter thousands at the Battle of Cassel. Not long after that, Robert of Artois, who
had helped Philip get the crown, claimed the countship of Artois; but a royal candidate did so, as
well. Philip instituted judicial proceedings against Robert, turning his one time supporter into a
bitter enemy.
It wasn t until 1334 that trouble began with England. Edward III, who didn t particularly like
paying homage to Philip for his holdings in France, decided to flout Philip s interpretation of

Ones perception on a book may or may not be changed once they see the movie produced that is
based off of a book. While reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest by Ken Kesey I was able to
visualize how I believed the characters would be in real life. Unlike the book, the movie is
presented the way in which the producer views the characters taking away ones sense of
imagination. A major difference between the book and the film is the point of view in which the
story was told. The book is told in Chief s point of view and the movie is not. I noticed during the
movie there had been some scenes missing but they made sure to include the important ones. Some

The scene in the book where the lifeguard at the pool who once was admitted to the ward tells
McMurphy that the nurses are the ones who decides how long one stays in the ward, and in the
movie Washington tells McMurphy that information. At one point of the book McMurphy and
Bromden are sent to the disturbed ward after getting into an altercation with the nurses when
McMurphy tried to stop them from forcing medication onto George in the shower who is
known to be extremely cautious of germs. Unlike the book the movie shows this scene as
McMurphy getting into a fight with the nurses after breaking the nurse s station window to get
Cheswick s cigarettes in order to calm him down. After Chief helps him, all three of them are
sent to the disturbed ward. Due to all of the changes in the movie compared to the book it was
hard to follow the movie at times. When certain scenes happened in the movie that didn t in the
book it confused me and when they brought in new characters or changed the way the characters
were portrayed made it difficult to relate the movie back to the book. I don t believe the film
changed my perception of McMurphy s Heroism because both in the book and film he played the
significant role of standing up to Nurse Ratched even though she was known to belittle all of the
patients. McMurphy continued to try and help the patients escape the ward before he thought about
himself leaving and that showed the type of character McMurphy was.

From this class, I have learned how South Asian Americans have been racialized and how they have
been treated differently compared to other marginalized people in the U.S. By studying the
narratives of South Asians and other minority groups, I gained the knowledge about racism,
colonialism, capitalism and imperialism and the government s politics strategies. Through the
learning histories, I developed my empathy with the struggles of immigrant, racial and minority
community and understood how to build solidarity with each other. I think the studying about the
history of different ethnic group, nation, and gender is important because it helps us to see violent
activities that we caused to another and it also reminds us to not do the same mistakes. I found
myself engaged to the struggles of race, class and gender according to the experiences of myself
and other people in my life. I have experienced the similar racial discriminationat work place where
some white people acted, as I am not good enough to be part of their community and treated me
