Boston University Application Essay
Crafting an essay on the "Boston University Application" is no small feat. It requires a delicate
balance between showcasing your individuality, academic prowess, and alignment with the

The Global Issue Of Population Growth
Beyond a doubt we urgently need to address the devastating global issue of
population growth in the United States America before we destroy our planet. We are
facing many devastating economic problems, such as pollution, global warming,
education, but the most critical is overconsumption. Overpopulation is a huge
problem in the United Statesof America, which is causing us to run out of natural
resources. The human race is already too large and is destroying the natural systems
that support us. There are many solutions to this problem, but the common factor is
controlling the human race. What can we do as a society to help contribute to
controlling the population growth? The United States is the most overpopulated
country in the world . (Ehrlich)
Let s first discuss what is considered to be overpopulated? Overpopulation is The
condition of having a population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration,
an impaired quality of life, or a population crash . (Merriam Webster
Dictionary.com, 2011). The growing rate of population in America is becoming
exceeding extreme and dangerous. The rate of population increase, now
approximately 1.7 percent a year will decline to a little less than 1 percent
sometime between the years 2020 2025 . (Ehrlich) The more people added on to this
earth the more resources we will have to use to maintain. Arije 2
The more people increase on this earth, the more we consume resources, causing
more damage to the earth that generates more
Illegal Immigration Problems
Illegal immigration defies the immigration rules of a designated country by ignoring
the right formalities of moving into that country. It requires immigrants to cross
international political borders throughout water, land, and air improperly. As these
immigrants enter the country they tend to relocate to California. Which cause s many
problems in Los Angeles, California, and the city government should do more to
handle the growing population of illegal immigrants. California is a popular
relocation destination for illegal immigrants. Zong states that about one million
illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles, California, when they get there they use
fake or stolen social security numbers to get jobs (Zong) which takes away from
native Californians. This makes it harder for natives to find jobs which eventually
leads to higher unemployment rates. Sometimes immigrants are helpful when they
migrate, they fill shortages in the work place that no one wants. When illegal
immigrants enter, the United Statesusing a fake social security number they aren t
required to pay taxes. Illegal immigrants don t usually pay taxes until they are caught
and deported or forced to pay them. Which causes the economy rate growth to
decrease and tax rates to increase. This causes citizens tend to work less because of
the increase in taxes. Therefore, making the economy weaker and weaker. This
prevents the government from building new roads, schools, hospitals etc. Along with
not paying taxes
Why I Am A Doctor
Ever since I was ten, I knew what I wanted to grow up to become, a doctor. Eight
years later, and I still have not completely decide on what type of physician I want
to be. This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when
I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several
different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science.
What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two
semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I
did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was
always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for
my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English
1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I
promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort
than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high
standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into
the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have
improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing,
researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class.
The first, and the most basic, learningoutcome that was focused upon in class is
reading.
The California Future Farmers Of America Essay
The California Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an organization committed to the
individual student, [by] providing a path to achievement in premier leadership,
personal growth and career success through agricultural education ( National FFA
Organization, 2016). These goals are the driving force behind the California FFA as
they reveal their most important assets: people and relationships. The structureof the
California FFA is extremely organized, operating like an efficient machine, the key
components of this student run organization are their complex combination of
vertical and lateral structuring, as well as their philosophy to create a positive
difference in the lives of students by developing their leadership skills. The California
FFA works under the National FFA Organization
and the California Department of
Education. The state association is run by the State Advisor and other state leaders,
with assistance from a State Officer Team (California FFA and Agricultural
Education, 2016). In this divisionalized structure each state association is, as
Bolman and Deal (2008) assert, quasi autonomous where state advisors report to the
corporate office at the National level, but appear to have a high level of
independence (pp.83 84). While problems can arise within a structure such as this,
the California FFA has explicit goals put into place, as well as clear lines of
communication from the top down, thus making the FFA an effective divisionalized
enterprise. This type
Homosexuality In The Hairdresser Of Harare By Tendai
Huchu
Those being oppressed by their government must find a way to keep a sense of
themselves and their beliefs despite others attempts to change them. In the
Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu, Dumisani is a gay man in a country that
heavily discriminates against homosexuality. Dumi is under constant threat of
having his sexuality discovered and being punished by torture or imprisonment.
Despite this fear, he is able to overcome the disdain his society holds in order to
embrace who he truly is, You see for a long time I used to think of my gayness as a
cancer for which I needed treatment. Then I met Colin and he told me how wrong I
was. Now I realize it is simply something I was born with (438.) Dumi s ability to
thrive in the face of adversity allows him to be himself and overcome the limits
imposed on him by the Zimbabwean government. He embraces his identity and form
friendships and romantic relationships with people who understand him. He stays in
the country that is attempting to reject him in order to be with his lover, family, and
friends. He understands the threat he faces, but it does not prevent him being with
the man he loves or coming out to his family. In this way, the LGBT community and
other people whose lifestyles or beliefs conflict with their society s ideals persist
through the judgment of others simply by being themselves unashamedly. When in a
position where one s beliefs contradict those of their society a person s negative
capability allows them
Bisphenol Research Papers
Abstract
Most consumers are unaware of the chemicals they ingest on a daily basis. Some of
these chemicals are added to ensure shelf life, taste, or texture. While others are
ingested by eating animals that have come into contact with chemicals in their
environment or their feed. While government agencies such as the Federal Drug
Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department
of Agriculture state that these chemicals are harmless in small doses other research
has proven otherwise. Using laboratory animals these chemicals have been shown to
increase the development of cancer, chromosomal defects, leukemia, reproductive and
neurological problems. This paper will focus on the common chemicals of Bisphenol

the EPA The Maximum Contamination Level Goal for atrazine is 0.003 mg/L or 3
ppb (Agency, Basic Information about Atrazine in Drinking Water, 2013). However,
individual states are allowed to enforce more stringent guidelines. People who drink
water that has been contaminated with high amounts of Atrazine can develop
cardiovascular and reproduction problems. Atrazine has been shown to cause changes
in blood hormone levels in animals that affected the ability to reproduce (Registry,

The Second Seminole War
The events leading up to the Second Seminole War remain some of the most
perverse and contentious proceedings to have occurred in American history.
Between 1819, the ending of the First Seminole War, and 1835, the beginning of the
Second, the United States government did everything within its power to not only
remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so through seditious and
deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power of the
president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and
their willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era
remains one of the saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how
the executive branch was able to attain new power during the era of Jackson.
In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole
War, one must first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole
protection of runaway slaves, Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men
entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to decimate Seminole populations. Despite
most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United States government and
protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero
throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the
government to punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both
Britain and Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty of 1819
Personal Statement Of Purpose A River Padma
River Padma, the biggest and most raging river of Bangladesh, is only twenty
kilometers from the village where I grew up hearing about the sinking of locally
manufactured launch which regularly took a toll of thousands of lives. I just
always asked myself why this type of accident happens. As the Padma has
alienated the southern part of our country from the other regions, it is a must for
people in those areas to cross the river to reach the capital city, Dhaka. In the year
of 2008 when I first came to Dhaka, I had a bitter experience of observing such
accident. Horrible scene of hundreds of people dying in front of me made me
seriously rethink how can we resolve this problem? This question drove me to choose
Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering(NAME) as my major in university level
and having the opportunity to be a student of the Bangladesh University of
Engineering Technology (BUET) was a great achievement for me.

Take 5 has a base of brand loyal consumers
4. The unique combination of Take 5 ingredients is not duplicated
Weaknesses
1. Take 5 has low brand recognition in comparison to other Hershey brands
2. Previously low promotional support for Take 5 may hinder revitalized IMC
campaign
3. Top management not understanding the benefits of social media and its ability to
track ROI.
Opportunities
1. Increase brand recognition by associating with the Hershey name
2. Reach the lucrative 18 34 year old market
3. Take advantage of consumer preferences for sweet and salty combination of tastes
Threats
1. Potential copycat products from key competitors
2. Consumers, especially younger consumers, becoming more health conscious
Strengths
Hershey s primary strength is its powerful, trustworthy brand image. Currently,
Hershey is the market leader for the United States chocolate market with 44.3%
market share, followed by Mars at 29.8%, for a combined 74.1 % of the market
(Pogharian, 2013). Hershey s dominant market leadership position allows it the
leverage to build its own brands with minimal opposition. If competitors were to
respond with similar products to Take 5, Hershey would have the resources to
protect against loss of market share. Hershey s Take 5 bar is not only unique in the
combining of five ingredients (milk chocolate, peanuts, caramel, peanut butter and the
rare incorporation of pretzels) but it has done so with
American Society Is A Box Of Apples
American society is a box of apples. When you open the box it looks like all of the
apples are in good condition. However as you start reaching the bottom you find
the bad apples, the ones that are bruised, expired, and have worms in them. I am
those apples I was bruised because of my race, expired because of my ethnicities, and
filled with worms from the nationality that I was not a part of. Race, ethnicity, and
nationality are these qualities that defines a bad apple versus a good apple, a tainted
apple or clean apple. Race is the seed of the apple. It determines whether the apple
will be a green apple, a red apple, or a golden apple. It is something that we are born
with, we can t change it. We are born with it and have to bear the injustice that also
comes with it. In Learning To Be White by Doctor Thandeka, She says in the preface
that no one is born white , which can also be used as no one chooses to be born their
race (preface). It is one of the biggest factors that causes discrimination. It started for
me at the age of four years old. It was about a year after 9/11, I lived in a
conservative area of Missouri, where my family was the only people of color. We
were poor, even though both my parents worked. We didn t have a car and most of
my clothes were passed down from my brother, who is seven years older than me. I
had to walk myself to school that was about five miles away. It was my first day of
kindergarten, I walked to the entrance of the school. The
Carbon Nanotubes
Carbon is the fundamental element for everything on Earth. All life on Earth depends
on carbon. Carbon has different forms of allotropes including diamond, graphene and
charcoal. Carbon is found in position 12, with 4 colvalent electrons. All the allotropes
have different properties nd uses due to how the carbonatoms are bonded. Carbon is
able to single, double and triple bond with other elements to form complex
molecules. Carbon can also use its four electrons to form diamond, where it is strong
and stable, or three electrons to form graphitefound in pencils, buckyball or all forms
of nanocarbon including carbon nanotube.
Diamond has a giant molecular structure. Each carbon atom is covalently bonded to
four other carbon atoms. Since covalent bonds are so strong, a great amount of
energy is required to seperate the atoms in a diamond, ... Show more content on

Carbon nanotube have many structures, varing in length, thickness, and number of
layers. Carbon nanotubes are graphene that has been rolled up into a tube shape.
Most significant use for carbon nanotubes is in structural reinforcement. Carbon
nanofibres are extremely thin and light weighted, weighing about twentieth of a
gram with one whole kilometer long. However, it was discovered that nanofibres are
the ten times stronger than the strongest material, thus could strengthen almost any
material. One of the significant uses of nanotube is acting as a carrier to transport
drugs into the body. However, the use of nanotube in health care has become a
debatable topic in today s society. Even though a nanotube is able to keep a
particaular drug safe in its cage until it reaches a desired site where it can be released,
scientists in Scotland have claimed that inhaling carbon nanotubes could be just as
harmful as breathing in asbestos. They stated that carbon nanotube can cause
mesothelioma, a deadly cancer of the membrane lining in the body s internal

Managing a diverse workforce can prove to be a challenging situation. Many people
do not enter the workforce with the intent to manage people, yet alone run another
person s business and the different personalities that work there. Most management
positions are thrust upon unwilling individuals, which leaves that person/s lost in a

Synopsis of Pros and Cons
Once you have identified your particular management style you must look at your
personality style. How you are perceived by your co workers can have an effect on
how the employees will perform for you. Most managers know that no one wants
to work in a dictatorship, so as managers we do what we can to gain acceptance for
our lower level comrades; some by going out to the bar or the club to gain their
respect when in actuality we are doing ourselves a great disservice.
Befriending employees can hinder production rates and productivity, cause a loss in
profit and performance and ultimately cost the manager his or her job. Employees
tend to take advantage and then complain when demoted or written up by their so
called new friend. So it is imperative that you know your personality and how to
maintain your control in the employee versus manager hierarchy.
A coach manager works closely with their employees listening, observing, learning
their strengths and weaknesses and knows that developing the employees talents are
more important than their performance. The drawback here depends on the type of
work being done and the work environment. For instance if you are a sales
Field Programmable Gate Array ( Fpgas )
ABSTRACT:
Placements of logical blocks in FPGA use many optimization algorithms in heuristic
manner. Main objective is to provide minimization in wire length during the task
placement inside Reconfigurable FPGAs, which will decrease the area, power and
delay and increase the speed of execution. Optimization algorithms are applied in the
Benchmark circuits and the results are compared. Due to the technological
advancement, density of the devices increases so that necessitates improvement in
minimization of wire length. Hence this project, proposes an optimum solution for
wire length minimization.

Organizational Development ( Od )
Organizational development (OD) refers to a process of enhancing personal and
organizational change, and increasing the organization s effectiveness by using
interventions that are driven by behavioral and social science knowledge (Brown and
Harvey 2011).The main aim of organizational development in any given organization
is to bring change that will drive the organization towards attaining effectiveness in its
operations. Organizations need to change in order to become more productive,
satisfying to members, as well as attain effectiveness. In other words, change is a
significant aspect as far as an organization s life is concerned. For instance, the
increment in customers demand, the presence of advanced technologies, and the

Hence, Apple Inc. needs to analyze keenly the factors that are limiting it from
attaining effectiveness so as to apply a relevant change that will solve such issues.
However, organizational development seems to be stressful, hurtful, and frustrating
for most people. Therefore, most employees tend to resist to organizational changes.
As a result, organizations face a lot of challenges as they try to implement various
organizational changes (Brown, 2011, p. 67).
Organizational Development Challenges in Apple Inc.
Like any other organization, Apple Inc. is facing a number of challenges regarding its
efforts to implement new changes that can lead to effectiveness (Burke and Noumair,
2015, p. 198). It undergoes many challenges that need to be effectively solved before
the organization attains effectiveness in its activities. The company is facing
challenges such as difficulties in managing the performance of employees,
incompetent and unqualified leaders, career development difficulties, employee
resistance, and lack of a good communication network among others.
Management of the performance of each employee in an organization is a great
advancement towards the attainment of effectiveness. Apple Inc. is an organization
that has rapidly grown over the last few years. Currently, Apple Inc. is operating in a
number of countries such as America, Japan, and Europe among many others. Its
products are trading worldwide. With the increment of the company s operations,

should not be stricter immigration laws because immigration is an ideal way of

their country is only portraying fear to the terrorists attacking both the refugees and

Essay on Oedipus and Hamlet
Efthimios Mariakakis
Professor Mihailovic
5 14 01
Though Shakespeares Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus the King were written in two
different eras, echoes of the latter can be found in the former. The common theme of
Hamlet and Oedipus the King is regicide. Also, like in Oedipus the King, there is a
direct relationship between the state of the state and the state of their kings.
Furthermore, there is also a relationship between Oedipus armed entrance into the
bedroom in which Jocasta hanged herself, and Hamlet s confrontation of Gertrude in
her bedroom. Both plays share the emphasis on a tragic irony in the chain of events
that lead up to ritual of catharsis, but the plot of Hamlet makes a much more

You are the murderer, you are the unholy defilement of this land(Knox, 23). Tiresias
goes on to say I say that without knowing it you are living in shameful intimacy with
your nearest and dearest. You do not see the evil in which you live (Knox, 25).
Mariakakis 3 The other major ingredient of the tragic equation, the purging emotion,
is worked out by Sophocles. The hubris of Oedipus is demolished when he confides
in Jocasta concerning the predictions of the seer Tiresias; she tells him the story of
the murder of Laius, and as she speaks, Oedipus comes to recognize the scene and
circumstances of the regicide as being the same as those encountered on the road
to Thebes. The full hypothesis of his doings come to him and he cries out to
Jocasta, Oh, it is all clear as daylight now (Knox, 54). However, when he faces the
shepherd who had found the child Oedipus, and who now reveals that the child
was the same infant who was cast out to the wolves by Laius; Laius had feared the
fulfillment of a prophecy that he would die by his own son s hands, and Oedipus
now sees that the prophecy has indeed come true, for he has killed his own father
and committed incest with his mother. He then blinds himself, as if to acknowledge
the charge of the blind seer Tiresias that he was blind in his pride. Oh God! It has
all come true. Light, let this be the last time I see you. I stand revealed

control of the educationsystem, which has led to many problems. The differences in
curriculum, quality, and administering as well as other aspects of public education
are vastly different around the country, which has actually inhibited America s ability
to succeed. Many of these issues could be resolved with a shift in power in terms of
who is controlling the country s academic system. The Federal Government should
have a significant amount of regulating responsibility in America s education system,
because it standardizes the quality of education across the country, presents an
opportunity of equal education for all students, and regulates teachers. With the
Federal Government regulating education, a national standard of schooling will
become available. This means that there will be set expectations for how well a
studentdoes in schoolas well as standards for a quality education across the US the
education on one side of the country will be exactly the same as on the other side.
Having a national academic standard is important because standards spell out
The Biomedical Excellence For Safer Transfusion
Blood transfusions can be a life sustaining medical procedure; yet its significance has
been neglected. Like many procedures, the risk of potentially harmful complications
are vast, however in healthcare the consequence of a mistake is death. For instance,
when an acute hemolytic reaction can occur when a patient receives incompatible
blood. The symptoms of which include pain, chills, fever, tachycardia, hypotension,
and even renal failure (Kessler, 2013). Human error has required hospitals to
implement specific protocols which aim to prevent errors and reduce the likelihood
of harmful complications. These protocols consist of many rights , which ensure
correct identity and blood product. Nurses are responsible for the final bedside check

However, misidentification is the main dilemma for most transfusion errors during
blood sample collection. This can include patients not being identified correctly
during the time of the blood sampling or transfusion administration, or the
mislabeling of products such as tubes or the blood unit. Many patients worry about
blood transfusions being contaminated with disease when they should be worrying
about the completely preventable fatal reactions healthcare members can hinder. With
close attention and hospital enforcement of strict procedure guidelines, safety and
accuracy throughout the transfusion process is possible.
Several healthcare associations have taken interest in minimizing misidentification.
Many have even taken steps to help diminish frequency. The Joint Commission has
issued a national safety patient goal that states Eliminate transfusion errors related to
patient misidentification. The elements of performance for this safety goal include
that the following should be done before performing a transfusion: blood should be
matched to the order, the patient should be matched to the blood, and the patient
must correctly be identified. The Joint Commission aims to verify patients quickly
and efficiently. By using a two person identification process they hope precision is
easily attainable. The two identifier check is a widely recommended patient
verification process that requires checking the order, blood
Essay on The Poetry in Harlem Renaissance
Many assume that Blues and Jazz were the only musical influences that impacted the
Harlem Renaissance. Indeed, with the pursuit for heritage and identity, many aspects
of African culture influenced Renaissance poetry musically. However, focus also
needs to be placed on more controversial topics, such as religion and gender, as poets
challenged oppression. When discussing the poetry of the Harlem Renaissance, due to
the strength of their relationship, one must look at Blues and Jazz. Many viewed
this genre as a voice for the black communities and as the New Negro poets
expressed a deep pride in being Black (Smith, 1983, p. 37) it is easy to see how this
influenced their poetry. The main theme of Blues were the troubles of life and... Show

laughs (Ramazani, 1994, pp. 152 3), a juxtaposition of emotions that was common
in the Blues genre as this sense of fracturing was a common shared feeling to many
of those in the Black communities, especially those who were forced to be happy
simply for others, like children, despite the massive social and economic prejudices
they faced. The half rhyme between laugh and have creates a sense of mocking,
which many would have felt, especially with the popularity of both Blues and Jazz
with the white communities, who couldn t understand the pain it came from.
Perhaps the most popular piece of Blues poetry that incorporates the technical
devices of the genre is Hughes Weary Blues. The poem highlights how Jazz
affected everyday life through its exaggerated musicality. This is created through
internal rhymes, alliteration and consonance which creates a similar rhythm to a
Blue song. The Blues influence can further be seen by the twelve bar stanzas and
repeated use of rhyming couplets which create a musical atmosphere. Hughes often
refers to music in his poetry and it seems to pose as a metaphor for feelings that can
t be spoken, and these disenfranchised feelings often dominated Blues songs. It
showed where language failed, music could take over. We can see that Hughes used
music to inspire a generation and give them a
Jasmine Beever Case
Jasmine Beever appeared to be a healthy 16 year old until she was suddenly rushed
to a hospital. The teen was initially resuscitated when she arrived, but she couldn t
hold on when an infection from her hair took over.
The strange part is that the infection didn t happen on her head, according to
LincolnshireLive.
Beever was killed by a hairball that was found in her stomach.
The hairball caused an infection in her stomach, which developed into peritonitis, an
inflammation of the peritoneum, which is the layer of tissue in the abdomen that
covers the organs. The infection caused an ulcer that burst, shutting down her vital
organs.

Donna Marshall, the mother of Beever s best friend, Billie Jo Ashwell, explained

Jasmine collapsed at college, she went home to bed and then later she came out in
blotches, and the rest is sad news.
Marshall said Jasmine had been sucking/chewing her hair for years. She put out a
plea to other parents to be aware of the dangers of sucking on their hair after her
daughter s friend lost her life:
She wrote:
Please Please PLEASEEEEEE!!!! Warn your children of the Dangers of sucking

How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner Essay
How to Prepare a Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate our joys with friends and family. Unfortunately, if
you are the person designated to cooking the holiday dinner, the joys can turn into
complete and total fear. I ll never forget the first time I made Thanksgiving dinner for
twenty family members and friends. I waited until the last minute to start and the
dinner ended in a complete disaster. In the years following that failure, I have learned
that preparing a Thanksgiving dinner is easy...if you plan ahead.
Eventually the day arrives when you are selected to prepare the Thanksgiving
dinner. Don t panic. With a few hours of planning, your dinner can be a complete

I believe that the menu is where your success will be ensured. Take your time and
consider all your guests. Be sure to be aware if someone is allergic to a specific meat
or spice. Also, you probably know what your family s traditions are, so plan
accordingly. If your family s tradition includes turkey and ham, try to keep to
tradition as tradition makes everything go smoother. You can also add side dishes to
enhance the meal and try to start new traditions.
Most Thanksgiving holiday meals include the traditional turkey, ham and prime rib.
If you are having a large dinner party, I would suggest making all three. Preparing
three different main dishes can be difficult, but as I mentioned above, planning is
everything. Remember, if you have a small oven, you can always cook the ham a
day in advance, roast the turkey on Thanksgiving Day and save the prime rib for the
barbeque grill while the turkey is cooking.
The next step in meal planning is planning the side dishes. Mashed Potatoes and
Gravy, Stuffing, Yams, Green Bean Casserole, Chili Casserole, Ambrosia, Dinner
Rolls, Cranberry Sauce, Deviled Eggs and an olive tray are our traditional dishes.
Many of these dishes can be prepared in advance so you have time to enjoy your
guests.
The final planning stage of the dinner will be dessert. Thanksgiving Day just isn t the

Waterstreet The Gin Game Analysis
Acting is all about the movement of your body and your soul. Music, visual and
stage arts, all of these are all able to express deep messages without the use of oral
talk. Sign language is the one of a kind language which uses body motion and facial
expressions to communicate with others. These characteristics are also necessary in
successful stage performances, as acting depends greatly on movement and facial
expression. The majority of theatrical productions do indeed depend on human speech
to connect with the crowd; however, the tool of the human body and its native
communication skill is what charms and truly satisfies the audience. Today, many
theatrical productions offer American Sign Language translation during certain

Isaac Newton s Accomplishments
Isaac Newton is arguably the most important scientist in history. He was born on
Christmas 1642 in Woolsthorpe Manor, United Kingdom. He was born
prematurely and possibly with a form of autism called asperger syndrome, which
actually helped him focus on his studies. His father died when Newton was very
young, so his mom sent him to live with his Grandma where he was educated at
King s School. Initially not a good student, the drive to outwit his classmates
became his greatest motivation; and he quickly he rose above his fellow peers.
Newton s mom was widowed again and at age fifteen his mom made him come
back for financial reasons to help to help with work on their farm. Later on in his
life he went back to school where he got a Masters in Art, became a Mathematics
professor at Cambridge University, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society....

He was an active member of the Anglican church. Newton paid for the distribution
of bibles to the poor and also helped build an estimated amount of fifty churches
near the London area. After studying the biblical subjects immensely, writing 1.3
million words on it, he held a special interest in miracles and prophecies. Newton
noted that scientist and a person holding a prophecy were similar in that their goals
were both simplicity and unity. God was supposedly the clockmaker who created all
of us, but left it up to us when it was our time to run out. Newtonian physics became
the basis of Deism, which claims that God is the creator and first cause of the
universe which runs by natural laws. Since God did not touch our clocks all prayer
was considered useless. Granting, this wasn t the religion Newton followed, but it
was based off of his studies. Today Newton is still famous for his scientific writings

Analysis Of Avowal Is Not Enough By Alane Presswood
Vegetarians and vegans (veg*ns, as a collective term) face opposition from people
who are not veg*n. The veg*n community is brought closer together because they
have mutual experiences that allow them to bond. However, the most aggression
that the veg*n community faces comes from within. As the internet has become
increasingly widespread and accessible, veg*ns have the opportunity to connect
with each other to share experiences as well as advice. However, this increased
ability to communicate has become a double edged sword: veg*ns use the internet
to help each other, but they also use it to criticize others lifestyle choices. Criticism
without background and alienation, all in all, actually works against the goal of
converting more people to v*ganism. In Avowal is not Enough, author Alane
Presswood examines the use of public shaming as a form of social control. While
her article specifies an instance in which public shaming was used by a parent to
punish her child for her behavior, this form of punishment can be likened to other
mediums and uses as well. Presswood phrases it as such: Despite possessing little
knowledge of such individual s biases, political leanings, or personal attributes, we as
a mass public feel entitled to attack them on a lasting, vindictive, and deeply hurtful
level. The same rhetoric can apply to shaming in the veg*n community. There have

In 1980, recommendations were made by the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics for reforming mathematics instruction in An Agenda for Action. These
recommendations were based on results of the second National Assessment of
Educational Progress (NAEP) and on data collected by the National Science
Foundation (NSF) largely from a study called Priorities in School Mathematics
(PRISM). Specifically in the area of fractions, NAEP contended that students inability
to compute with fractions was the result of dependence on rote memorization of
algorithms and a focus strictly on routine problems. Among eight recommendations,
An Agenda for Action called for problem solving to be the focus of school
mathematics in the 80 s and basic skills in mathematics to be more than
computational fluency. The fourth NAEP showed improvement, but indicated that
mathematics instruction still lacked depth,

Scottish Independence Pros And Cons
In this essay I will discuss both sides of the referendum of Scotland and firstly short
about the current situation, and then finish it off with a conclusion. The issue of the
Scottish independence has been highly discussed for a couple of years. The reason
for that are after the Scottish national party won the election in 2011, their main goal
has been to make Scotlandindependent. Now it is up to the Scots to choose whether
they want to separate themselves from the United Kingdomor if they want to remain a
part of it. This decision could change Scotland for eternity and entirely.
There are many arguments on both sides for the referendum that was held in 2014,
about the Scottish independence. Firstly one of many reasons to make Scotland a
country is that, they would save a lot of money by banishing nuclear weapons from
Scottish soil is commitment from the SNP. Critics say that moving the submarines

Hidden Characters In Hidden Figures
Of all passages throughout the book Hidden Figures, Margot Lee Shetterly s

resonates with me the most. The Colored waiting room at the Greyhound bus
station served as the checkpoint for an in between world. Dorothy boarded the bus,
and with each passing mile, life in Farmville faded into the distance. (Shetterly, 22)
This passage from Shetterly s novel seems to foreshadow my own journey that I will

Explain Why Is Hamlet Really Mad In Hamlet

True madness is an illness that inhibits the mind of an individual assumes the total
control of thought action within that person. It is not the condition that flourishes
only when called upon or that can be completely disregarded if the host wishes to
ignore it.
In this play, Hamlet is introduced as the sad protagonist. He has just returned from
school has been apprised that his father is dead, his uncle, Claudius has taken his
mother s hand in marriage.
As Hamlet says,
Oh, that this too, too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw and resolve itself into dew, or
that the Everlasting had not fixed his canon against self slaughter! O God, God! (Act
1, scene 2, lines 131 134).
In the above lines, Hamlet is thinking about committing suicide but cannot do
because of his religion. At this movement in the play, I believe his actions are
reasonable as he is angry about his father s death and about his new father.
Hamlet is not truly insane because whenever he is pretending to be mad, everything
he says has a hidden meaning. This is seen when he talks to Polonius:
Ay sir. To be honest, as this world goes, is to be one/man picked out of ten

My Experience At The University Of Baghdad, College Of...
Not long ago, I received a delightful phone call, it was from a patient I treated three
years ago, he and his family wanted just to say hi, we missed you Doc. , isn t that

I studied medicine in one of the top universities in the Middle East that is University
of Baghdad, College of Medicine. My training was in Baghdad Medical Center, the
biggest teaching hospital in Iraq, which provided me with the best teaching and
training in the country. After graduation, I did my internship in several hospitals in
Baghdad. During that time, my country went through crisis situations, with lack of
many basic services and security. I faced a wide range of medical cases that needed
to be managed under highly stressful conditions, which helped in developing my
clinical and social skills. I was introduced to all specialties of medicine, and that was
the time when Family Medicine started to be my biggest interest. Family physicians
are not better than other doctors, but they are different. They continue to be the heart

health care experience. Focusing their attention on the person, not just the disease,
they are driven to develop relationships over generations with the patients and
families they care for.
Due to the continued security deterioration in my country, I had to travel to Jordan,

Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War
Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative
Party s election victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this
triumph. Historians such as Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor
significantly increased the popularity of the Thatcher administration and resulted in
her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war on Margaret Thatcher s
image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign.
Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the
pre war circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party
following their tenure in office prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic
policies. The Conservative victory was not down to a singular event, but a
combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the British
electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have
won in 1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983
election was a result of opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance
rather than the Falklands factor.
The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians
believed to be a key reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives
had a jump in support of 11 per cent between February and July 1982 showed that the
conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial resistance

Marketing and publishing can continue to date back together when trying to promote
ideas. The marketer had to find someone to enjoy the ideas that the publisher wanted
to promote. The early changes and develops of publishing are some of the only
changes that continued to grow into todays markets
Using your brain is something we all do day in and day out. This is a normal way
of thinking about how we see the world. We tend to use what we see around us as
reminders of what we want, or need to do. When publishers go about publishing a
new book or new product they try and find someone who can use the information
they are providing. Whether it is a true story or something strictly made up. We as
humans have tendencies to use what we read and hear to promote some sort of
desire we want. We can have many different ways of explaining what we see and
what we gain. One of the best examples is from a Derren Browns subliminal
advertising . This is an actual video that shows two well known advertisers from the
from MBA firm being had by what they already knew. It explains how what we as
humans see just driving down the street can have the biggest impact on what we
draw. The two men were asked to draw an idea for a new poster for something they
had never heard of. However when they were done the man showed them what he
thought they would of drawn and it was almost identical. You ask why is this? Well
marketing is designed to weave such patterns and designs into
Hypomania
Survey of Recent Research In a 2013, a study entitled The Relationship of
Hypomania, Creativity, and Suicidal Ideation in Undergraduates was done comparing
creativity, suicidal thoughts, and hypomania which they define as elevated moods
that are absent of future depressive episodes (Drapeau DeBrule, 2013). The study
involved ninety four undergraduate students from a lower level psychologyclass, aged
eighteen to fifty two. Four of the participants were forced to drop out. Participants
were asked about any history they may have had regarding mental illness via a
demographics questionnaire before testing officially began (Drapeau DeBrule, 2013).
The participants were given Guilford s Alternative Uses Task (AUT) and the Creative

Gough s Creative Personality Scale (CPS). The CPS required participants to rate
adjectives on how much they relate to the adjectives on a scale from one to nine
with one representing no connection to the adjective. The ratings were then broken
down into losses and gains. Gains were calculated by looking at the increase of
positive adjectives across age groups and losses were calculated the same way only
with negative adjectives. Composite scores were calculated by subtracting the
ratings of negative adjective from the ratings of positive adjectives (Hui et al., 2014).
The age group with the highest reported creative personality was the group of adults
over the age of sixty one. The pattern the study found seemed to suggest that there
was a gradual decrease in creative endeavors from age eighteen to age sixty that began
to increase in older age. A study entitled Layperson Perceptions of Malevolent
Creativity: The Good, the Bad, and the Ambiguous sought to understand how people
viewed creativity in malevolent acts. The concept of malevolent creativity describes
people using creative thinking to commit immoral and/or unethical acts. The
participants were 626 college students although only the data from 581 participants
were used (Cropley, Kaufman, White, Chiera,
An Automated Video Surveillance System For Public Places
Although tremendous progress has been made in past decade to detect the unattended
objects especially in public places namely railway stations, shopping malls etc but
still fails to meet the desired requirement. An automated mechanism with robust
approach for detecting objects left unattended in consumer world resulted in
successful commercialization. The successful detection of objectdetection mainly
relies on object extraction and objects classification and based on this approaches a
novel algorithm namely intelligent vision based analyzer for semantic analysis is
proposed for unattended object analyzer. Finally experimental results show good
efficiency and better performance over near competitors for real time consumer
video surveillance system for public safety application in big cities.
Keywords: consumer video surveillance, intelligent analyzer, unattended object,
multiple background model, object extraction.
1. INTRODUCTION
Visual surveillance for human behaviour understanding has been investigated
worldwide as an active research topic. In particular, an automated video surveillance
system for robustly and effectively detecting of unattended objects is increasing the
worldwide attention in many contexts, especially, in the consumer world of
applications. In these systems, it should be a sufficiently high accuracy enabling a
real time performance. Thus, a prime goal of automated visual surveillance is to
obtain a live description of what is happening in a monitored
Muslim Image Of The Muslim Community
In society, we have this set image of the Muslim community in our minds. This
image is portrayed in several countries, not just America. Most people have this
mindset that every Muslim they encounter is going to have a ticking time bomb
strapped to the front of their chest, just waiting to blow up some town. We mainly
see this imagery of the Muslim people pictured in America via television; however,
this illustration is also depicted in other parts of the world as well. In a British
Newspaper, it is clearly stated that Muslims are depicted in a systematically
negative way (Erik Bleich et. Al. 943). The worldly population allows certain
images that are interpreted online, or in some sort of media, of one or two
Muslims committing some sort of terrorist act to decipher how the entire Muslim
nationality operates. According to Erik Bleich, Hannah Stonebraker, Hasher Nisar
and Rana Abdelhamid we focus on headlines because, while most news consumers
do not read most articles, media studies have demonstrated that even casual readers
are drawn to headlines, which thus serves as cognitive shortcuts that impact a large
number of readers (Erik Bleich et. Al. 943). This quote seems to stand true because
even in my home, I see not only myself but my family only really pay attention the
headlines that spark curiosity. We are more tuned to reading about a tragic incident
opposed to who won the 5th grade spelling bee in the state. In a paper that focused
primarily on how Muslims were
Panama Canal Compare And Contrast Essay
During the construction of the Great Wall of China and The Panama Canal builders
faced many challenges. Many people died because of the work and the effort that
they had to put into the work. This wall was very hard to build that more than
300,000 people died. Something very interesting about this is that when some
workers died they were buried within the walls so they were buried in the walls.
Although there was a lot of tragic events there were similarities and there were
differences.
Between these 2 huge projects, there were many differences. The Great Wall of China
was to protect china and they used it for defense. The wall did not really work
because Qin defeated all the rivals and china becomes an empire. The wall became
bigger and bigger by the second Qin decided to make the wall even bigger he
wanted the wall to spread north now so they could defend themselves from the
enemies the Mongols. The wall never really succeeded in defending them, Genghis
khan invaded and conquered china.

For example, during the constructing of the 2 objects many people died. Many
workers died from the chemicals, Lack of money, intense heat and terrible rains,
diseases that killed thousands of workers , many people died from diseases and
illnesses. There were many damages caused in both locations and projects.
Something else that they had in common was that they both were hand made. So
the ship and the wall was man made so this means that it took very long for them to
build these two projects. The last thing that thy have in common is that both
projects failed to protect them. The great wall of china failed to defend them with
the wall. The Panama Canal failed by most of the ship getting wrecked and the ship
sinking also since many people died it cost a lot of money for them to get more
The Role Of Religion In The English Colonies
Religion s Role in the Development of the English Colonies
Religion is one of the fundamental aspects of society. Unfortunately, it is also one of
the sparks that can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain
civilizations traditions. For example, before the Spaniards came to the Central and
Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion, but once they were conquered
they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to abandon their way of
life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of the race,
caused them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to
the birth of a new civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other
countries, the United States is a melting pot where people of different ethnic
backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and races come together. And this is where it
all started.
In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King
Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and
riches for Spain, while Queen Isabella requested that he help spread Christianity.
From then on, many missionaries were sent to convert the Natives. This is one
example of how religion shaped the Americas.
King Henry the Eighth divorced his wife and switched England s religion to the
Protestant Church in 1534 when he renounced the pope (as the head of the church).
After some time, the Catholics were tired of
How Change Is A Process
Change is a process. The diagram shows how change can be broken into three
sequential states, however the length of this process will be determined by factors
such as the extent or degree of change involved. Organisations have different
preferences regarding the time taken, but ideally the change should occur at a speed
it can be managed properly. If changeoccurs too quickly or is managed poorly some
expectations could be (Young, 2014):
Decline in productivity.
Higher employee turnover.
Deteriorating morale.
Employees slipping back into old habits and way of doing things.
Employees developing short cuts to avoid the new methods.
Division between those for and against changes.
Change must be introduced effectively and efficiently to ensure those affected adapt
and so that the benefits of the change are fully realised. Change management involves
identifying and resolving potential problems that we anticipate risk management
(Young, 2014). During the three stages below the following needs to occur to
permanently secure the benefits of change:
Unfreezing. In this stage an organisation must be prepped to accept that change needs
to occur. This involves altering and breaking down the current way of doing things in
order to develop new methods of operating; breaking down the the collection of tools,
processes, techniques, behaviours, organisational structures and job roles that
constitute how work is done at present (Young, 2014). Staff need to be convinced that

night of dancing, fun on the town, and a lovely dinner. For the dinner, we intend to
meet up with our friends John, Sandy, Jolly, and Danny, but in between the time, I

they were doing, but I have finally found the courage to confront them...tonight. They
have a secret meet up spot, where they go every Saturday night, and I plan on
passing by there when they meet tonight. It is located on the corner of 22nd Street

Philadelphia Story Character Analysis
Philadelphia Story Character Analysis
George Cukor s star studded romantic comedy, The Philadelphia Story (1940),
offers modern viewers a look at changing personalities in 1930s/40s American high
society. The film stars Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, and James Stewart in a clash
of cultures centered around a wedding. Macaulay Connor (Stewart) is a reporter for
tabloid like Spy Magazine, on assignment to write an exposГ© on the marriage of
wealthy Tracy Lord (Katherine Hepburn) with the help of her ex husband, C.K.
Dexter Haven (Cary Grant). While all of the characters present go through a dramatic
change of outlook, Connor s is the most drastic. Macaulay Connor s goal in life is to

When asked about her wedding, she comments, We aren t allowing any reporters in,
except for little Mr. Grace who does the social news. Can you imagine a grown up
man having to sink so low?
A little later in the same meeting, Tracy asks if Connor and Elizabeth are dating and
receives only uncomfortable spluttering from the couple. Tracy then insinuates that
Connor should have married Elizabeth if he loves her, at which Connor jerks and
becomes uncomfortable. This moment exposes Connor s emotional distance, an issue
that continues throughout the film. It appears that Connor is unaware of his
emotional objectivity towards his girlfriend, Elizabeth, until the end of the film.
When asked why she has not married him yet, Elizabeth responds, he s still got a lot
to learn. I don t want to get in his way for a while.
While he is aware of his classism towards the wealthy, it is not until the end of the
film that he recognizes that his prejudice towards the upper class is unfair. Connor
is not aware of the extent to which he expresses his dislike of the upper class, in
spite of being faced with examples that prove him wrong.
As the story progresses, Connor begins to realize that the wealthy are as
dysfunctional as everyone else. They have personal dilemmas, trauma, and
struggles. His view of Tracy, the epitome in his eyes of upper class snobbery, begins
to change when he discovers her reading his book in the library. Are you sure you re
A Comparison Of The Revenant And To Build A Fire
The movie The Revenant and the short story To Build a Fire, tell two different
stories, one holds a plot of revenge fueled by one mans love of his son. The other is
a simpler story of survival, or more appropriately a story of attempting to survive.
Looking at these stories from as simple a point of view as just plot, the reader or
viewer, would miss the undeniable similarities that these two stories share. These
stories share three main similarities which are, the main characters fight for survival,
the setting in which the story takes place, and the use of symbolism included in the
story.
In both stories the main characters face an unbelievable challenge of trying to survive
an incredible struggle. For Hugh Glass the main character of The Revenant he faces
this challenge multiple times within the movie. The unnamed man in To Build a
fire faces it once which is the main conflict in the story. Hugh first survives an
attack by the Ree by helping his crew of fur traders escape to the boat. The next
morning, he goes on a hunt and barely survives a bear attack. From then on out his
entire journey is a struggle to survive, as soon after, he is left for dead by the two
men who are left to look after him. The unnamed man s struggle while not as
monumental is still every bit as much a fight for survival. He falls through a thin
patch of ice into the water and must fight to build a fire to survive. Both men show a
large amount of resilience, in their fight to survive. The unnamed man
Celtic Mythology and Folklore
Many people today can associate with the classic tale of leprechauns and a pot of
gold at the end of a rainbow. This tale is a recurring myth within the realm of Celtic
mythology. Celtic mythology was an integral part of ancient history throughout the
British Isles especially Ireland. Authors of this magnificent form of literature have
created stories that were based on the events of that time period and their works have
transcended to future generations up until today. Overall, Celtic mythology and
folklore has had a magnanimous impact on the world in lending itself for priceless
amusable, educational, and historical excellence. Celtic mythology is the
mythological literature from approximately the fourth century B.C. extending to
approximately the early third century as Christianity was spreading and more of
Celts were converting to Christianity. After converting, the Celts dropped all traces
of their former religion to be found by subsequent inhabitants of their lands. First the
stories and tales were told by oral tradition and later written down by bards, poets,
and monks. This literature could be found across Ireland, Wales, Scotland, bits of
England, and smatterings of Europe [insert citation from godchecker.com]. Generally
speaking the ancient Celtic religion like many other societies and civilizations at that
time was polythestic as well as animistic with various gods and deities dedicated to
the various parts of the natural world. Over the colossally
Special Objects Report Of Trajan s Column Essay
Special Objects Report Trajan s Column was constructed in A.D. 113 in Trajan,
Rome. It stands 137 feet tall, made from marble, and the style would be considered
Roman imperial (Meyer, Bernard Pl. 152). One stylistic difference that points to this
would be the spiral staircase on the interior the monument. Trajan s Column
innovative helical structure of its stairway influenced the rest of the Roman
architecture period. Other notable style characteristics could include its continuous
helical frieze. Within the frieze are the reliefs that tell the narrative of the wars
against the the Dacians. The design of Trajan s Column can easily be compared to
that of the Column of Marcus Aurelius, which has many identical aspects. The
structure s most remarkable structural features can be classified as either Roman or
Dacian, depending on what cultural influences were apparently dominant for the
structure (Thill, Elizabeth 28). To be considered Roman, the structure had to first
plainly be a type of Roman architecture, such as an amphitheater. Additionally, it had
to be part of an urban landscape incorporating buildings of clearly Roman
architectural types (Thill 28). Finally, the structure needed to be somehow linked to
the Roman army. For an architectural structure to be considered Dacian, it likewise
needed several specific conditions. Firstly, any foreign, non Roman architecture
would be classified as Dacian. Secondly, it could not be apart of an urban landscape

Light Pollution In California National Parks
that many of the species that live in the wilderness in and around the park are
affected by increased artificial lighting because it disrupts day and night cycles to
plants that would not only affect the plant but wildlife that need those plants to
survive. These effects can offset the balance of the parks environment, which would
also disrupt the aesthetic of them to visitors. People who lived in Joshua Tree when
there was hardly any lightpollution and development was not the main focus of the
area s officials are now more susceptible to changes in their sleep patterns and life
cycles if light pollution increases to anywhere near the amount that effects people
who live in Los Angeles, who are far more exposed to risks due to high light
pollution,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the California National Parks, parks can receive certification from the
International Dark Sky Association that recognizes parks for preserving their night
skies in the best and most efficient ways possible. With certifications such as this,
there is greater incentive to keep the night time dark and use as little artificial lights
around the parks. Inside and outside the parks, light pollution can be reduced by using
light fixtures that point artificial light downward where needed, which will reduce
glare and skyglow that affects the night skies. Using more efficient lighting that are
cost and energy effective and safer will also benefit the effects on people and
wildlife. Other efforts can be using motion detection lighting in homes and
businesses in and around the parks, or lights with timer s that automatically go off.
Even keeping lights indoor and shutting them off when not using them wat night
would help to combat light pollution and save the night sky (Dark Night Sky
2017). Yosemite s visitation guides suggest venturing out to see night skies
personally to get a real connection with the stars, which could drive people to want
to do as much as they can to save them (Dark Night Sky 2017). Everyone should be
able to see a night sky in its true beauty, but the only way to do so is to retract the
light pollution that humans have impacted the world
Why Does The Butterfly Population Decline
butterflies are traveling pollinators that migrate over 3000 miles in the winter when
the weather begins to get cold (Smith). The National Geographic article and video by
Lindsay N. Smith says that the butterfly population has decreased 90% in size over
the last twenty years (Smith). Population decline comes from a variety of aspects, but
the most impactful is the food that the caterpillars are eating and a lack of food on
their migration. Monarch caterpillars are born in milkweed plants and eat the leaves
before they grow into butterflies. In 20 years milkweed plants have dropped to 21%
the amount of that they were previously (Smith). Many scientists are attributing this
to the massive monoculture fields throughout the migration pattern that
Architecture And Design Of Architecture
Architecture
An architect plans, designs and construct structures. Architects can design many
things like a shopping mall, a library, skyscrapers, and so much more. Architecture
is a very interesting career that I would like to learn more about. I will be discussing
why I chose to research this career and the different types of architects there are, the
average annual salary an architect makes, what they do on a daily bases, how much
education you need to be an architect, and the pros and cons about being an
architect. Not only will I be discussing these topics, but I will also research what
tools an architect uses, the best places for an architect to live at, and the top schools
to get an architecture degree (Shapiro).

There are residential architecture, commercial or public architecture, industrial
architecture, landscape architecture, and green architecture. Residential architecture
focuses on designing homes. A lot of the times a residential architect will work with
private clients. Commercial or public architecture focus more on public buildings like
shopping malls, hospitals, airports, and other public places. Industrial architecture is
more of an engineer. They work with building bridges, dams, and other technical
projects. Then there is landscape architecture, which focuses on outdoor areas. This
type of architect will design gardens, parks, lawns, and other public destinations that
are outside. Last, there is green architecture. Green architecture works with buildings
that are friendly to the environment.
What an architect does on a daily basis is draw a plan for a building before
constructing a building. Architects will use a lot of their creativity side of how they
want the building to look. They will make models of the building. Most of the time
an architect will be talking to the clients, engineers and contractors. When talking to
clients, it will be about what they want added to the plan or what they want changed.
Not only will they be talking to their clients and contractors, but they will also be
going to a lot of meetings and even talking
What Was The Significance Of The Four Blood Moon
The Significance of the Four Blood Moons Throughout many years people have
been trying to predict the coming of Christ or even the apocalypse. The four blood
moons is one of many appearances they will and have tried to predict these events
with. The blood moons are a miraculous event created by God to remind us He is
coming, and it represents major events in the life of God s people. When this event
occurs again don t be afraid. For the blood moons are there even as a reminder to us
that God is still in control. Many, many years have gone by since the last set of
four blood moons. An occurrence of four blood moons is extremely rare. The most
recent set of blood moons happened within the years of 2014 2015. This exact type

For all of the signs that you have been warned by will happen. Many will try to
deceive you in various ways, but don t believe them. Most will fall from the Word
of God and will try to pull you into the trap, but stand firm. The antichrist will come
and do miraculous wonders on earth, but don t believe him. When signs appear
(blood moons or antichrist) you should be happy and in good spirits. Your God is
still there and is reminding you He is coming for you. Until this time comes be
thankful for the brothers and sisters I have provided for you. They are there to
help you and guide you through your life. So no matter what stand firm in God s
Word, and thank Him that He has chosen you to be His child. I believe that all that
is said to happen in the Bible is going to definitely be fulfilled. God does not tell us
when it is set to happen, but we need to be ready. My opinion is that the apostasy is
going to occur first. The apostasy is when people will be falling away from faith in
Christ. This won t be small, but extremely large. According to my estimates the
event that will happen soon after is the antichrist will begin to show standing and
action in the world. The antichrist is someone who will be on earth claiming to be
Christ. He will even be raised from the

  • 2. The Global Issue Of Population Growth Beyond a doubt we urgently need to address the devastating global issue of population growth in the United States America before we destroy our planet. We are facing many devastating economic problems, such as pollution, global warming, education, but the most critical is overconsumption. Overpopulation is a huge problem in the United Statesof America, which is causing us to run out of natural resources. The human race is already too large and is destroying the natural systems that support us. There are many solutions to this problem, but the common factor is controlling the human race. What can we do as a society to help contribute to controlling the population growth? The United States is the most overpopulated country in the world . (Ehrlich) Let s first discuss what is considered to be overpopulated? Overpopulation is The condition of having a population so dense as to cause environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash . (Merriam Webster Dictionary.com, 2011). The growing rate of population in America is becoming exceeding extreme and dangerous. The rate of population increase, now approximately 1.7 percent a year will decline to a little less than 1 percent sometime between the years 2020 2025 . (Ehrlich) The more people added on to this earth the more resources we will have to use to maintain. Arije 2 The more people increase on this earth, the more we consume resources, causing more damage to the earth that generates more
  • 3. Illegal Immigration Problems Illegal immigration defies the immigration rules of a designated country by ignoring the right formalities of moving into that country. It requires immigrants to cross international political borders throughout water, land, and air improperly. As these immigrants enter the country they tend to relocate to California. Which cause s many problems in Los Angeles, California, and the city government should do more to handle the growing population of illegal immigrants. California is a popular relocation destination for illegal immigrants. Zong states that about one million illegal immigrants reside in Los Angeles, California, when they get there they use fake or stolen social security numbers to get jobs (Zong) which takes away from native Californians. This makes it harder for natives to find jobs which eventually leads to higher unemployment rates. Sometimes immigrants are helpful when they migrate, they fill shortages in the work place that no one wants. When illegal immigrants enter, the United Statesusing a fake social security number they aren t required to pay taxes. Illegal immigrants don t usually pay taxes until they are caught and deported or forced to pay them. Which causes the economy rate growth to decrease and tax rates to increase. This causes citizens tend to work less because of the increase in taxes. Therefore, making the economy weaker and weaker. This prevents the government from building new roads, schools, hospitals etc. Along with not paying taxes
  • 4. Why I Am A Doctor Ever since I was ten, I knew what I wanted to grow up to become, a doctor. Eight years later, and I still have not completely decide on what type of physician I want to be. This is because every career in the medical field interests me. However, when I decided on this career field, I knew one thing for sure. I knew it entailed several different science courses. I was happy with this because I always loved science. What I did not realize was the fact that it also meant I would have to take two semesters of English after high school. I never had as much interest in English as I did for most other subjects. Therefore, due to my lack of interest, English was always an area where I struggled. That is the reason, when I signed up for classes for my first semester at Wayne State University, I was hesitant to sign up for English 1020. Even though I was hesitant, I knew this was a course I had to take. I promised myself that I would take this class, and I would put in much more effort than I had previously. This effort was mainly enforced because of the extremely high standards that medical schools hold their applicants to (the average GPA to get into the Wayne State Medical School is 3.75). Since the beginning of this class, I have improved in each of the writing outcomes, which include reading, writing, researching, and reflecting, due to the effort I have put into excelling in this class. The first, and the most basic, learningoutcome that was focused upon in class is reading.
  • 5. The California Future Farmers Of America Essay The California Future Farmers of America (FFA) is an organization committed to the individual student, [by] providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education ( National FFA Organization, 2016). These goals are the driving force behind the California FFA as they reveal their most important assets: people and relationships. The structureof the California FFA is extremely organized, operating like an efficient machine, the key components of this student run organization are their complex combination of vertical and lateral structuring, as well as their philosophy to create a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their leadership skills. The California FFA works under the National FFA Organization and the California Department of Education. The state association is run by the State Advisor and other state leaders, with assistance from a State Officer Team (California FFA and Agricultural Education, 2016). In this divisionalized structure each state association is, as Bolman and Deal (2008) assert, quasi autonomous where state advisors report to the corporate office at the National level, but appear to have a high level of independence (pp.83 84). While problems can arise within a structure such as this, the California FFA has explicit goals put into place, as well as clear lines of communication from the top down, thus making the FFA an effective divisionalized enterprise. This type
  • 6. Homosexuality In The Hairdresser Of Harare By Tendai Huchu Those being oppressed by their government must find a way to keep a sense of themselves and their beliefs despite others attempts to change them. In the Hairdresser of Harare by Tendai Huchu, Dumisani is a gay man in a country that heavily discriminates against homosexuality. Dumi is under constant threat of having his sexuality discovered and being punished by torture or imprisonment. Despite this fear, he is able to overcome the disdain his society holds in order to embrace who he truly is, You see for a long time I used to think of my gayness as a cancer for which I needed treatment. Then I met Colin and he told me how wrong I was. Now I realize it is simply something I was born with (438.) Dumi s ability to thrive in the face of adversity allows him to be himself and overcome the limits imposed on him by the Zimbabwean government. He embraces his identity and form friendships and romantic relationships with people who understand him. He stays in the country that is attempting to reject him in order to be with his lover, family, and friends. He understands the threat he faces, but it does not prevent him being with the man he loves or coming out to his family. In this way, the LGBT community and other people whose lifestyles or beliefs conflict with their society s ideals persist through the judgment of others simply by being themselves unashamedly. When in a position where one s beliefs contradict those of their society a person s negative capability allows them

While others are ingested by eating animals that have come into contact with chemicals in their environment or their feed. While government agencies such as the Federal Drug Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Department of Agriculture state that these chemicals are harmless in small doses other research has proven otherwise. However, individual states are allowed to enforce more stringent guidelines. People who drink water that has been contaminated with high amounts of Atrazine can develop cardiovascular and reproduction problems. Atrazine has been shown to cause changes in blood hormone levels in animals that affected the ability to reproduce (Registry, 2015). • 8. The Second Seminole War The events leading up to the Second Seminole War remain some of the most perverse and contentious proceedings to have occurred in American history. Between 1819, the ending of the First Seminole War, and 1835, the beginning of the Second, the United States government did everything within its power to not only remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so through seditious and deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power of the president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and their willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to attain new power during the era of Jackson. In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves, Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to decimate Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United States government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the government to punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty of 1819

Personal Statement Of Purpose A River Padma River Padma, the biggest and most raging river of Bangladesh, is only twenty kilometers from the village where I grew up hearing about the sinking of locally manufactured launch which regularly took a toll of thousands of lives. I just always asked myself why this type of accident happens. As the Padma has alienated the southern part of our country from the other regions, it is a must for people in those areas to cross the river to reach the capital city, Dhaka. In the year of 2008 when I first came to Dhaka, I had a bitter experience of observing such accident. Horrible scene of hundreds of people dying in front of me made me seriously rethink how can we resolve this problem? This question drove me to choose Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering(NAME) as my major in university level and having the opportunity to be a student of the Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET) was a great achievement for me. • 11. American Society Is A Box Of Apples American society is a box of apples. When you open the box it looks like all of the apples are in good condition. However as you start reaching the bottom you find the bad apples, the ones that are bruised, expired, and have worms in them. I am those apples I was bruised because of my race, expired because of my ethnicities, and filled with worms from the nationality that I was not a part of. Race, ethnicity, and nationality are these qualities that defines a bad apple versus a good apple, a tainted apple or clean apple. Race is the seed of the apple. It determines whether the apple will be a green apple, a red apple, or a golden apple. It is something that we are born with, we can t change it. We are born with it and have to bear the injustice that also comes with it. In Learning To Be White by Doctor Thandeka, She says in the preface that no one is born white , which can also be used as no one chooses to be born their race (preface). It is one of the biggest factors that causes discrimination. It started for me at the age of four years old. It was about a year after 9/11, I lived in a conservative area of Missouri, where my family was the only people of color. We were poor, even though both my parents worked. We didn t have a car and most of my clothes were passed down from my brother, who is seven years older than me. I had to walk myself to school that was about five miles away. It was my first day of kindergarten, I walked to the entrance of the school. The
  • 12. Carbon Nanotubes Carbon is the fundamental element for everything on Earth. All life on Earth depends on carbon. Carbon has different forms of allotropes including diamond, graphene and charcoal. Carbon is found in position 12, with 4 colvalent electrons. All the allotropes have different properties nd uses due to how the carbonatoms are bonded. Carbon is able to single, double and triple bond with other elements to form complex molecules. Carbon can also use its four electrons to form diamond, where it is strong and stable, or three electrons to form graphitefound in pencils, buckyball or all forms of nanocarbon including carbon nanotube. Diamond has a giant molecular structure. Each carbon atom is covalently bonded to four other carbon atoms. Carbon nanotube have many structures, varing in length, thickness, and number of layers. Carbon nanotubes are graphene that has been rolled up into a tube shape. Most significant use for carbon nanotubes is in structural reinforcement. Carbon nanofibres are extremely thin and light weighted, weighing about twentieth of a gram with one whole kilometer long. However, it was discovered that nanofibres are the ten times stronger than the strongest material, thus could strengthen almost any material. One of the significant uses of nanotube is acting as a carrier to transport drugs into the body. However, the use of nanotube in health care has become a debatable topic in today s society. Even though a nanotube is able to keep a particaular drug safe in its cage until it reaches a desired site where it can be released, scientists in Scotland have claimed that inhaling carbon nanotubes could be just as harmful as breathing in asbestos. They stated that carbon nanotube can cause mesothelioma, a deadly cancer of the membrane lining in the body s internal

Next summer, I plan on returning to Camp Bear Track for my tenth year as a counselor. As a CIT, I had to set and reset the dining hall for every meal, lead activities, prepare for the night game, be a leader for the campers in my cabin, exemplify Christ like ideals, and give a chapel to the whole camp. Successful Management of a Diverse Workforce Individual Research Paper Successful Management of a Diverse Workforce By Harun Williams 2010 Harun Williams April 29th 2010 Introduction to Research for College Writing Comm112 Joe Tarin Abstract Managing a diverse workforce can prove to be a challenging situation. Many people do not enter the workforce with the intent to manage people, yet alone run another person s business and the different personalities that work there. Most management positions are thrust upon unwilling individuals, which leaves that person/s lost in a very unforgiving world, where bad decisions are not learning curves and can end up being career ending mistakes due to not being properly educated in workplace etiquette and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By giving the staff responsibilities and showing them that they can be trusted to work on their own allows them to develop good work habits, thrive in the work environment and better themselves as individuals proving their value to the entire organization. Synopsis of Pros and Cons Once you have identified your particular management style you must look at your personality style. How you are perceived by your co workers can have an effect on how the employees will perform for you. Most managers know that no one wants to work in a dictatorship, so as managers we do what we can to gain acceptance for our lower level comrades; some by going out to the bar or the club to gain their respect when in actuality we are doing ourselves a great disservice. Befriending employees can hinder production rates and productivity, cause a loss in profit and performance and ultimately cost the manager his or her job. Employees tend to take advantage and then complain when demoted or written up by their so called new friend. So it is imperative that you know your personality and how to maintain your control in the employee versus manager hierarchy. A coach manager works closely with their employees listening, observing, learning their strengths and weaknesses and knows that developing the employees talents are more important than their performance. The drawback here depends on the type of work being done and the work environment. For instance if you are a sales
  • 15. Field Programmable Gate Array ( Fpgas ) ABSTRACT: Placements of logical blocks in FPGA use many optimization algorithms in heuristic manner. Main objective is to provide minimization in wire length during the task placement inside Reconfigurable FPGAs, which will decrease the area, power and delay and increase the speed of execution. Optimization algorithms are applied in the Benchmark circuits and the results are compared. Due to the technological advancement, density of the devices increases so that necessitates improvement in minimization of wire length. Hence this project, proposes an optimum solution for wire length minimization. Essay on Oedipus and Hamlet Efthimios Mariakakis Professor Mihailovic 5 14 01 Though Shakespeares Hamlet and Sophocles Oedipus the King were written in two different eras, echoes of the latter can be found in the former. The common theme of Hamlet and Oedipus the King is regicide. Also, like in Oedipus the King, there is a direct relationship between the state of the state and the state of their kings. Furthermore, there is also a relationship between Oedipus armed entrance into the bedroom in which Jocasta hanged herself, and Hamlet s confrontation of Gertrude in her bedroom. Both plays share the emphasis on a tragic irony in the chain of events that lead up to ritual of catharsis, but the plot of Hamlet makes a much more complicated character than ... Tiresias goes on to say I say that without knowing it you are living in shameful intimacy with your nearest and dearest. You do not see the evil in which you live (Knox, 25). Mariakakis 3 The other major ingredient of the tragic equation, the purging emotion, is worked out by Sophocles. The hubris of Oedipus is demolished when he confides in Jocasta concerning the predictions of the seer Tiresias; she tells him the story of the murder of Laius, and as she speaks, Oedipus comes to recognize the scene and circumstances of the regicide as being the same as those encountered on the road to Thebes. The full hypothesis of his doings come to him and he cries out to Jocasta, Oh, it is all clear as daylight now (Knox, 54). However, when he faces the shepherd who had found the child Oedipus, and who now reveals that the child was the same infant who was cast out to the wolves by Laius; Laius had feared the fulfillment of a prophecy that he would die by his own son s hands, and Oedipus now sees that the prophecy has indeed come true, for he has killed his own father and committed incest with his mother. He then blinds himself, as if to acknowledge the charge of the blind seer Tiresias that he was blind in his pride. Oh God! It has all come true. Light, let this be the last time I see you. The half rhyme between laugh and have creates a sense of mocking, which many would have felt, especially with the popularity of both Blues and Jazz with the white communities, who couldn t understand the pain it came from. Perhaps the most popular piece of Blues poetry that incorporates the technical devices of the genre is Hughes Weary Blues. The poem highlights how Jazz affected everyday life through its exaggerated musicality. This is created through internal rhymes, alliteration and consonance which creates a similar rhythm to a Blue song. The Blues influence can further be seen by the twelve bar stanzas and repeated use of rhyming couplets which create a musical atmosphere. Hughes often refers to music in his poetry and it seems to pose as a metaphor for feelings that can t be spoken, and these disenfranchised feelings often dominated Blues songs. It showed where language failed, music could take over. We can see that Hughes used music to inspire a generation and give them a

The veg*n community is brought closer together because they have mutual experiences that allow them to bond. However, the most aggression that the veg*n community faces comes from within. As the internet has become increasingly widespread and accessible, veg*ns have the opportunity to connect with each other to share experiences as well as advice. However, this increased ability to communicate has become a double edged sword: veg*ns use the internet to help each other, but they also use it to criticize others lifestyle choices. Criticism without background and alienation, all in all, actually works against the goal of converting more people to v*ganism. In Shakespeare s Hamlet Introduction H amlet, not likely seems to be mad because madness is one of the psychological diseases which emits out your all logical thoughts leaving a human with no particular conception of what is really happening around them. Undoubtedly, Hamlet used Proactive approach while adopting antic disposition and frivolous behavior around the Claudius, Polonius, Ophelia and Gertrude to uncover the secret of his father s death and loyalty of his friends. On the contrary, he displayed logical, rational, sane behavior around Horatio and some of his bosom friends. True madness is an illness that inhibits the mind of an individual assumes the total control of thought action within that person. It is not the condition that flourishes only when called upon or that can be completely disregarded if the host wishes to ignore it. In this play, Hamlet is introduced as the sad protagonist. He has just returned from school has been apprised that his father is dead, his uncle, Claudius has taken his mother s hand in marriage. As Hamlet says, Oh, that this too, too sullied flesh would melt, Thaw and resolve itself into dew, or that the Everlasting had not fixed his canon against self slaughter! O God, God! (Act 1, scene 2, lines 131 134). In the above lines, Hamlet is thinking about committing suicide but cannot do because of his religion. At this movement in the play, I believe his actions are reasonable as he is angry about his father s death and about his new father. Hamlet is not truly insane because whenever he is pretending to be mad, everything he says has a hidden meaning. This is seen when he talks to Polonius: Ay sir. To be honest, as this world goes, is to be one/man picked out of ten

Not long ago, I received a delightful phone call, it was from a patient I treated three years ago, he and his family wanted just to say hi, we missed you Doc. , isn t that one of the most beautiful thing someone can get in life? For me yes it is. I studied medicine in one of the top universities in the Middle East that is University of Baghdad, College of Medicine. My training was in Baghdad Medical Center, the biggest teaching hospital in Iraq, which provided me with the best teaching and training in the country. After graduation, I did my internship in several hospitals in Baghdad. During that time, my country went through crisis situations, with lack of many basic services and security. I faced a wide range of medical cases that needed to be managed under highly stressful conditions, which helped in developing my clinical and social skills. I was introduced to all specialties of medicine, and that was the time when Family Medicine started to be my biggest interest. Family physicians are not better than other doctors, but they are different. They continue to be the heart and soul of medicine. More than any other specialty, family doctors humanize the health care experience. Focusing their attention on the person, not just the disease, they are driven to develop relationships over generations with the patients and families they care for. Due to the continued security deterioration in my country, I had to travel to Jordan, and work as a general practitioner over there and
  • 39. Britain s Victory Of The Falklands War Britain s victory in the Falklands War undoubtedly contributed to the Conservative Party s election victory in 1983. However, it should not be considered essential to this triumph. Historians such as Helmut Norpoth have suggested that the Falklands factor significantly increased the popularity of the Thatcher administration and resulted in her re election. Dennis Kavanagh noted the effect on the war on Margaret Thatcher s image and emphasised the importance of this during the election campaign. Nevertheless, the Conservative success in 1983 must be attributed primarily to the pre war circumstances including the poor public perception of the Labour Party following their tenure in office prior to 1979 and Thatcher s social and economic policies. The Conservative victory was not down to a singular event, but a combination of events that all affected her image and her perception by the British electorate. Had Labour been a stronger opponent, the Conservatives may not have won in 1983. The most valid conclusion drawn is that of Peter Riddell; the 1983 election was a result of opposition weaknesses and the dividing role of the Alliance rather than the Falklands factor. The Falklands conflict was, in the opinion of both Thatcher and many historians believed to be a key reason for Thatcher s re election. The fact that the Conservatives had a jump in support of 11 per cent between February and July 1982 showed that the conflict was beneficial to the party, despite initial resistance

Composite scores were calculated by subtracting the ratings of negative adjective from the ratings of positive adjectives (Hui et al., 2014). The age group with the highest reported creative personality was the group of adults over the age of sixty one. Most people have this mindset that every Muslim they encounter is going to have a ticking time bomb strapped to the front of their chest, just waiting to blow up some town. We mainly see this imagery of the Muslim people pictured in America via television; however, this illustration is also depicted in other parts of the world as well. In a British Newspaper, it is clearly stated that Muslims are depicted in a systematically negative way (Erik Bleich et. Al. 943). According to Erik Bleich, Hannah Stonebraker, Hasher Nisar and Rana Abdelhamid we focus on headlines because, while most news consumers do not read most articles, media studies have demonstrated that even casual readers are drawn to headlines, which thus serves as cognitive shortcuts that impact a large number of readers (Erik Bleich et. Unfortunately, it is also one of the sparks that can start a war and revolutionize the way we think and certain civilizations traditions. For example, before the Spaniards came to the Central and Southern Americas the Incas had their own religion, but once they were conquered they were forced to convert to Christianity. The Incans had to abandon their way of life and traditions or face punishment. This, along with the near extinction of the race, caused them to lose their beliefs over time. On the other side, religion can also lead to the birth of a new civilization different from the rest, the Americans . Unlike other countries, the United States is a melting pot where people of different ethnic backgrounds, faiths, lifestyles, cultures, and races come together. And this is where it all started. In 1492, Christopher Columbus reached the Americas on the orders of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain. King Ferdinand sent him to claim land and riches for Spain, while Queen Isabella requested that he help spread Christianity. From then on, many missionaries were sent to convert the Natives. This is one example of how religion shaped the Americas. King Henry the Eighth divorced his wife and switched England s religion to the Protestant Church in 1534 when he renounced the pope (as the head of the church). The diagram shows how change can be broken into three sequential states, however the length of this process will be determined by factors such as the extent or degree of change involved. Organisations have different preferences regarding the time taken, but ideally the change should occur at a speed it can be managed properly. If changeoccurs too quickly or is managed poorly some expectations could be (Young, 2014): Decline in productivity. Higher employee turnover. Deteriorating morale. Employees slipping back into old habits and way of doing things. Employees developing short cuts to avoid the new methods. Division between those for and against changes. Change must be introduced effectively and efficiently to ensure those affected adapt and so that the benefits of the change are fully realised. Change management involves identifying and resolving potential problems that we anticipate risk management (Young, 2014). During the three stages below the following needs to occur to permanently secure the benefits of change: Unfreezing. In this stage an organisation must be prepped to accept that change needs to occur. This involves altering and breaking down the current way of doing things in order to develop new methods of operating; breaking down the the collection of tools, processes, techniques, behaviours, organisational structures and job roles that constitute how work is done at present (Young, 2014). A Comparison Of The Revenant And To Build A Fire The movie The Revenant and the short story To Build a Fire, tell two different stories, one holds a plot of revenge fueled by one mans love of his son. The other is a simpler story of survival, or more appropriately a story of attempting to survive. Looking at these stories from as simple a point of view as just plot, the reader or viewer, would miss the undeniable similarities that these two stories share. These stories share three main similarities which are, the main characters fight for survival, the setting in which the story takes place, and the use of symbolism included in the story. In both stories the main characters face an unbelievable challenge of trying to survive an incredible struggle. For Hugh Glass the main character of The Revenant he faces this challenge multiple times within the movie. The unnamed man in To Build a fire faces it once which is the main conflict in the story. Hugh first survives an attack by the Ree by helping his crew of fur traders escape to the boat. The next morning, he goes on a hunt and barely survives a bear attack. From then on out his entire journey is a struggle to survive, as soon after, he is left for dead by the two men who are left to look after him. It stands 137 feet tall, made from marble, and the style would be considered Roman imperial (Meyer, Bernard Pl. 152). One stylistic difference that points to this would be the spiral staircase on the interior the monument. Trajan s Column innovative helical structure of its stairway influenced the rest of the Roman architecture period. Other notable style characteristics could include its continuous helical frieze. Within the frieze are the reliefs that tell the narrative of the wars against the the Dacians. The design of Trajan s Column can easily be compared to that of the Column of Marcus Aurelius, which has many identical aspects. The structure s most remarkable structural features can be classified as either Roman or Dacian, depending on what cultural influences were apparently dominant for the structure (Thill, Elizabeth 28). To be considered Roman, the structure had to first plainly be a type of Roman architecture, such as an amphitheater. Additionally, it had to be part of an urban landscape incorporating buildings of clearly Roman architectural types (Thill 28). Finally, the structure needed to be somehow linked to the Roman army. For an architectural structure to be considered Dacian, it likewise needed several specific conditions. Firstly, any foreign, non Roman architecture would be classified as Dacian. Secondly, it could not be apart of an urban landscape with Roman

Inside and outside the parks, light pollution can be reduced by using light fixtures that point artificial light downward where needed, which will reduce glare and skyglow that affects the night skies. Using more efficient lighting that are cost and energy effective and safer will also benefit the effects on people and wildlife.
