The Collaborative Mind: Neuroplasticity and Cybernetic Social CognitionMicah Allen
“With the advent of multi-level findings demonstrating neuroplasticity in the adult brain, neuroscience is currently undergoing a decisive paradigm change. Although Ramón y Cajal, the father of the neuron doctrine, first speculated that synaptic neuroplasticity might be the fundamental mechanism of learning, neurogenesis has remained a controversial hypothesis. Recent multi-method research has overturned this dogma, finding dramatic plasticity at cellular, cognitive, developmental, and axonal levels. I review these findings, arguing that neuroplasticity challenges traditional understandings of the mind and cognition while presenting an upcoming fMRI project investigating social-media, cognitive augmentation, and neuroplasticity.”

How Pornography Affects Developing Brains - Dr. Jennifer Brownucap4utah
Dr. Jennifer Brown has done extensive research on the effects of pornography on children's developing brains. This PowerPoint presentation details some of the main points of her study. Dr. Brown presented this information to the Prevent Child Abuse Utah Joining Forces Conference in October 2014. This research was also instrumental in passing S.B. 227 in Utah to allow a judge to reduce or restrict custody if a parent has intentionally exposed their child to pornography.

Proiectul "From Brain Walking to Brain Jogging" (De la rezultate satisfacatoare, la performanta scolara) – eveniment organizat in cadrul programului ”Să știi mai multe, să fii mai bun!”, desfasurat in perioada 18 – 22 aprilie 2016 – cuprinde activitati educationale de informare si invatare a unor tehnici de studiu bazate pe modelul de functionare a creierului (brain-based learning techniques) ca o completare a metodelor traditionale.
Activitatile imbina exercitii de observare, reflectie, luare a deciziilor si rezolvare creativa a problemelor prin jocuri lingvistice si teste/ quiz-uri. Se urmareste dezvoltarea inteligentei emotionale si a constientizarii proceselor de invatare pentru a atinge urmatoarele obiective: gandire critica, comunicare, colaborare si creativitate. In cadrul acestor activitati vom cauta raspunsuri la cateva intrebari:
- Sunt resursele web indispensabile in procesul invatarii?
Concluzii:
Functia executiva a creierului – cheia eliminarii stresului in procesul de invatare si a eficientizarii acestuia.

Why the "hard" problem of consciousness is easy and the "easy" problem hard....Aaron Sloman
The "hard" problem of concsiousness can be shown to be a non-problem because it is formulated using a seriously defective concept (the concept of "phenomenal consciousness" defined so as to rule out cognitive functionality and causal powers).
So the hard problem is an example of a well known type of philosophical problem that needs to be dissolved (fairly easily) rather than solved. For other examples, and a brief introduction to conceptual analysis, see http://www.cs.bham.ac.uk/research/projects/cogaff/misc/varieties-of-atheism.html
In contrast, the so-called "easy" problem requires detailed analysis of very complex and subtle features of perceptual processes, introspective processes and other mental processes, sometimes labelled "access consciousness": these have cognitive functions, but their complexity (especially the way details change as the environment changes or the perceiver moves) is considerable and very hard to characterise.
"Access consciousness" is complex also because it takes many different forms, since what individuals are conscious of and what uses being conscious of things can be put to, can vary hugely, from simple life forms, through many other animals and human infants, to sophisticated adult humans,
Finding ways of modelling these aspects of consciousness, and explaining how they arise out of physical mechanisms, requires major advances in the science of information processing systems -- including computer science and neuroscience.
There are empirical facts about introspection that have generated theories of consciousness but some of the empirical facts go unnoticed by philosophers.
The notion of a virtual machine is introduced briefly and illustrated using Conway's "Game of life" and other examples of virtual machinery that explain how contents of consciousness can have causal powers and can have intentionality (be able to refer to other things).
The beginnings of a research program are presented, showing how more examples can be collected and how notions of virtual machinery may need to be developed to cope with all the phenomena.

- This presentation does not suggest mindfulness practices should immediately replace current medication.
- A holistic model of treatment, as opposed to the current medical model, should be considered.
- Medication issues should be negotiated with the prescribing physician prior to discontinuation or change of medication.
- At least initially, in many cases, the combination of medication and alternative therapies seems to be the best possible option toward recovery for many people.

Psychology - Understanding of human bhehaviourmohitschool26
psychology is a very vast topic, understanding behaviour of humans and animals is psychology, understanding of feeling like why i an feeling this what an i thinking and soo on.
Because thought underlies many human actions and interactions, understanding its physical and metaphysical origins, processes, and effects has been a longstanding goal of many academic disciplines including artificial intelligence, biology, philosophy, psychology, and sociology.
Our whole world is a reflection of our thought.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. Difference Between the Brain and Mind
The brain, which is the center of the nervous
system, coordinates the movements, thoughts
and feelings. But these are put forth or felt
through the mind. We all use the mind to think,
feel and respond. The Mind refers to a person’s
understanding of things and also his
conscience. Mind also refers to a person’s
thought process (DifferenceBetween.net, 2015,
para. 4)."
4. You win $500, how does it make you feel?
You lose $500, how does it make you feel?
Which scenario made you feel worse?
5. Why?
The negativity bias is a result of the of the fight-or-
flight response that is activated only during
negative experiences. The adrenaline rush and
increased heart rate that occur with the fight-or-
flight response cause negative events to be
experienced more intensely and imprinted on the
brain more.
The brain gives more attention to negative
experiences over positive ones because negative
events pose a chance of danger firmly (Force,
2010, para. 8).
6.
7. By default, the brain alerts itself to
potential threats in the environment, so
awareness of positive aspects takes
deliberate effort. The most effective
therapies would use methods of making
our brains more responsive to the
positive than the negative
(Force, 2010, para. 9).
9. • Giving – Doing things for others
• Relating – Connect with people
• Exercising – Take care of your body
• Appreciating – Notice the world around you
• Trying Out – Keep learning new things
• Direction – Have goals to look forward to
• Resilience – Find ways to bounce back
• Emotion – Take a positive approach
• Acceptance – Be comfortable with who you are
• Meaning – Be a part of something bigger

Ten Keys to Happier Living
10. Neuroplasticity
The ability to change the structure and
functioning of the brain through experiences
and the conscious use of directed thoughts is
referred to as neuroplasticity.
The latest research indicates that the adult brain
not only has the ability to repair damaged
regions, but to grow new neurons; that willful
activity has the power to shape the brain in new
directions far into adulthood
(Force, 2010, para. 1 - 2).
