The Mayan practiced a religion of many gods. Mayan religion was the subject of much discussion
leading up to December 21st, 2012. The Mayan practiced Roman Catholicism. Mayan rulers were
seen as intermediaries between the gods and Mayan people. Heaven was reserved for those who had
been killed or died at birth. To the Mayan science and religion were the same. Mathematics and
astronomy were related to religious rituals. The Mayan believed in the cyclical nature of time. The

commercialized by the Mayans. Early Mayan city states tended to produce all of their own substance
items. Substance items were used for food, clothing, tools, basic pottery, and salt. Prestige items were
commercialized goods by the Mayan also. Prestige items are like jade, gold, copper, ritual items, and
highly decorated pottery. The Mayan had advanced trade systems consisting of a robust market for a
range of goods and materials and short, medium, and long trade routes. The Mayan had lots to do in
their daily life. The Mayan considered big noses, flat foreheads, and crossed eyes beautiful features.
They would use makeup to try and make their noses look bigger. Men and women wore their hair
long. Once men and women got married they got tattoos. The clothing they wore depended on the
region they lived in and their social status. They also wore feather headdresses. The wealthy wore
colorful clothing made by animal skin and fancy jewelry. To the Mayan the most interesting food was
chocolate from the cacao tree. The Mayan introduced a number of new foods to the world. The most

Edward Hyde Alternate Ending
EDWARD HYDE positively deteriorated throughout the rest of the evening his words, while long and
elegant and therefore best suited for the upper classes, slurred together, suggestive of a cheap
windchime s discordant tin. His chair inched ever closer to that of Utterson s throughout the evening.
The lawyer recoiled upon catching a whiff of the man s breath and motioned to Poole, anxious for the
safety of his friend lest Hyde, in such an intoxicated state, should deem it fit to remain at the house
overnight. I ll see what I can manage, Sir, Poole responded, warily glancing at Hyde. But e is in rather

to move, face smushed against the hard wooden floor. Hnnnng no... Utterson seized his chance and
stood, shooting Hyde a long, pitying look before Poole escorted the two men out. HYDE scrambled to
his feet once they were gone and reeled instantly. His vision blacked out and he cursed loudly. One
drink as Jekyll, one drink as Hyde; that was his intent. In practice, however, it was difficult to abstain
from indulging in just one more glass and he must have consumed upwards of nine glasses throughout
the night. Would only his head stop pounding! Master Hyde! He must tell off Poole; the man seemed
incapable of speaking quietly Do you need help, Sir? He turned his head too fast, too fast; Poole
doubled before him, then united in a blurry haze; he staggered forward and fell in the expectant arms
of Poole. Why must Jekyll hoard the man s services? good help: a difficult thing to

The Causes And Effects Of The Natural Disaster In Japan
The devastation that occurred on March 11, 2011. An earthquake destroyed northeastern Japan,
unleashing a terrible tsunami. As of February 2017, there were still about 150,000 evacuees who lost
their homes, 50,000 of them were still living in temporary housing. Honshu earthquake on March 11,
2011 was a surprise. This unexpected disaster was not the largest or the deadliest earthquake and
tsunami to strike. More than 120,000 buildings were destroyed, 278,000. The total economic cost
could reach up to $235 billion, the World Bank estimated, making it the costliest natural disaster in
world history. That record goes to the 2004 Banda Aceh earthquake and tsunami in Sumatra, which
killed more than 230,000 people. The March 11 earthquake started on a Friday at 2:46 p.m. local time.
Japan s scientists had forecast a smaller earthquake would strike the northern region of Honshu, the
country s main island. The direct financial damage from the disaster is estimated to be about $199
billion dollars. In Japan, residents are still recovering from the disaster. In a subduction zone, one plate
slides beneath another into the mantle, the hotter layer beneath the crust. Less than an hour after the
earthquake, the first of many tsunami waves hit Japan s coastline. In the decade before the 2011
Tohoku earthquake, a handful of Japanese geologists had begun to recognize that a large earthquake
and tsunami had struck the northern Honshu region in 869. The country recently unveiled a newly

Essay On Immigrant Students In Secondary Schools
In this paper, I want to focus on Immigrant Students in Secondary Schools. As a previous high school
immigrant when I first arrived in United States, I have experience numerous difficulties in school that
I would never forget. In addition, I believe immigrant students of secondary school can face major
difficulties in learning English and succeeding in school. Since these students do not have a lot of time
than elementary students to learn English, and they have to pass several test that require English skill
such as the ACT and SAT. Above all, most secondary school texts and materials require a sufficient
English reading ability to understand, which will even make learning experience becoming even
tougher for high school immigrant. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is one personal story that I have never told anyone, because I feel kind of ashamed if I talk
about it. I actually have no knowledge of American History; even I went to the full four years public
high school in America. That is why I am questioning the education system in the United States.
Instead of spending countless periods in regular History and Biology classes without understand any
materials, why schools do not offer History and Biology classes but just for ESL student, using simple
and easier form of English to understand, so immigrant students can actually learn more about the
subjects. In the addition, schools should also give an instructional program that give English language
learners access to academic concepts and skills. Therefore, I certainly believe if there were program
and curricular alternatives for students with limited English proficiency, students would not
experience a difficult time with their school. Moreover, research has showed that due to these
difficulties that immigrant students have to face, there is a high dropout rates among language
minority secondary school students. For example, Hispanic students are more likely than White
students to leave school during their high school years (10% versus 4%; National Center for Education
Statistics, 1996). In 1994, the number of Hispanic students aged 16 24 who had not completed high
school and were not enrolled was 30%, as compared to 8% for White

Leadership Theory And Philosophy Of Leadership Essay
The belief of leadership is constantly changing, with many theories and frameworks available. Today s
organizations face ever increasing change, which includes increased patient demands and work needs,
which requires a more adaptive flexible leadership that is becoming increasingly important in the 21st
century. Leadership theory and philosophy can be divided into several well known styles. Within this
paper, we will discuss the basis of autocratic, democratic, laissez faire, servant, charismatic,
transformational, and situational styles of leadership within the nursing profession, then conclude the
writer s personal philosophies of leadership.
To begin, autocratic leadership involves leaders to make decisions without input from their followers
(Frandsen, 2014). This style of leadership also incorporates negative reinforcement. Maboko (2011)
gathered that nurse managers who embodied an autocratic leadership style yield registered nurses to
feel unappreciated, criticized and blamed. On the other hand, a democratic leadership encourages and
facilitates open discussions and participation from its followers. Followers are given responsibility,
accountability and constructive feedback to improve (Frandsen, 2014). McKeown and Carey (2015)
stated the lack of democracy and participation is one of many sources of a decreased morale. The lack
of control had a negative connotation on nurses and their relationships with patients. Additionally, this
resulted in fragmented care and poor

Bycatch Research Paper
The term has been written by Simon Northridge. what is bycatch? It is the unfortunate event of marine
mammals getting caught and killed during fishing.most of the time, these mammals deaths were
completely unintentional by the fishermen but it regularly happens during fishing operations. Bycatch
is therefore incidental catches. No matter the fishing gear, they have all catched at least once,
unwanted marine mammals especially in greatly fished areas. Species like whales, porpoises and
others find their way into these gears but are unable to get out of them. A staggering 300, 000 marine
mammals are killed through bycatch. For many years, and to this day, bycatches of marine mammals
are seen as bonus and therefore used to sell for consumption. ... Show more content on

The issue with delphinids contrary to dolphins, once they are caught in purse seine nets with
yellowphin tuna, they cannot escape it and therefore die. Although this issue what happening as early
as in the 1950 s, it only started getting monitored in the 1970 s. for the many years when it was
happening, the annual mortalities were around 200 500, 000. Even with the new monitoring, many
dolphins are continuously being killed through this fishing technique. Thanks to dolphin safe labels
and movement, there has been great improvement on this practice. This improvement has led to a
reduction of dolphin mortalities to less than 1500 per year in 2004. Unfortunately, even with this
progress, dolphins and the other marine mammals affected are struggling to repopulate because of
how affected the species were from all the previous years but also since large scale captures are still
going on.
The discovery of the effect of the ETP tuna fishery on dolphins has opened the door to a realization
that other fisheries are killing several other marine mammals. The baji Lipotes vexillifer is now
declared extinct as well as the vaquita Phocoena sinus. The Baji is a Chinese river dolphin and its
extinction is caused by fishing lines; it is a long line of sharp hooks used for other fish but since it is
used in the same Chinese river than the Baji, it catches and kills

A Brief Argument Of Evolutionary Psychology By Putting...
Social constructionism counters this argument of evolutionary psychology by putting emphasis on
environment and nurture. Constructionism focuses on how meaning is created hence when we use the
term socially constructed we are referring to how society and culture create gender roles which are in
turn prescribed as normal and appropriate behavior expected from a person of that particular gender.
More radical versions of the social constructionist theory go as far as to argue that the behavioral
differences that exist between men and women are entirely social conventions free of any biological or
evolutional influence. Other versions of the theory also claim that there are multiple genders aside
from the traditionally recognized male and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender stereotypes can even be accurate at times....
As we have seen gender stereotypes and the subsequent gender roles which they encourage can often
serve a good purpose but they do become problematic when the lines are blurred and we can no longer
distinguish between nature and nurture. There is a network of researchers who have proposed that
stereotypes are indeed grounded on truth and these are not just empty claims as there is also a wealth
of research to support this. Throughout this paper we shall take a look at this research and examine its
authenticity in order to determine what truth if any lies in stereotypes. Similarly, many people use
confirmatory biases to prove the truthfulness of stereotypes. Confirmation bias is a tendency of people
to remember and notice events in a way which confirms their ideology and beliefs.. For instance,

marketing strategies are centralized primarily on the features and essence of product itself. Next,
reasonable pricing strategies perform for the sake of gaining more profits on the basis of increasing

Since the diet pills are about to enter the market, its marketing strategies should be planned subject to
the demands of introduction stages in product life cycle (Day 1981, pp. 60 67). Based on the patterns
of slow sales growth, the producers can make an arrangement to put awareness building in the first
place. Generally this tactic takes the form of free trial products, discounts or advertisement on the
Internet and media to establish its market and raise awareness among potential customers in the initial
development period (Guiltinan 1999, pp. 509 529). However, concerns like profits shrinkage and
potential brand degradation are barriers to have negative influence on the subsequent development.
The drawbacks cannot be denied, but these just represent short term incentives and readily get strict
control through a well designed budget plan (Falkner, Devetsikiotis and Lambadaris 2000, pp. 2 13).
Manufacturer is supposed to bear the temporary loss in order to raise quick notice about the new
healthy diet pills from the long term perspective. Besides, gathering some retailers could contribute to
break the little buying deadlock, which is easily operated for HP diet pills as the drinks sold previously
have built up a loyal customers base.
Fundamentally, marketing strategies always focus on the product itself, thus only differentiating the
product obviously from the competitors can the new product survives in the intense competition

Analysis Of Catherine Maria Sedgwick s The Scarlett...
Comparing Catherine Maria Sedgwick s Hope Leslie or Early Times in Massachusetts and Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Scarlett Letter is interesting because at first glance both novels don t appear to have
much in common. However, despite obvious differences between both novels such as the character
presentation of the female protagonists in Hope Leslie, who range from the free spirited Hope Leslie,
obedient Puritan Esther, and Magawisca as a noble but proud Native American contrasts with Hester
Prynne s presentation as a shamed but deeply contemplative woman in The Scarlett Letter. The
different purposes all these characters each serve in their respective stories begins to show
commonality in that Hope Leslie s Hope, Esther, and Magawisca and The Scarlett Letter s Hester
Prynne all have to overcome the adversity and social expectations within their Puritan society so that
they can do what they feel is right by relying on their feelings, intelligence, and inner strength. By
examining how characters such as Hope Leslie and Hester Prynne overcome the challenges they face
in their respective Puritan societies, it will be easier to discover how both novels presentations of their
female protagonist illustrates the gender politics of each text. Both Hope Leslie and Hester Prynne
defy the Puritan authority to do what they feel is morally right in the face of judgment and opposition.
In Hope Leslie, after Nelema s trial and her impending execution as a witch, Hope takes the

What are the difficulties of being in two cultures and when your mother tries to change you or when
you re being used? These challenges can be seen in Amy Tan s short stories Two Kinds and Rules of

their mothers and struggle with a clash of culture. Also both of their mother s sacrifice for them to

Leonardo The Artist, By Maria Vittoria Brugnoli And The...
I have currently finished reading the book Leonardo The Artist. The book is made up by three of Da
Vinci s scholars. One part of the book entitled The Painter is by Anna Maria Brizio, the other part is
The Sculptor which is interpreted by Maria Vittoria Brugnoli and the last section is The Teacher by
André Chastel. The book is comprised of Da Vinci s notebooks with sketches and comments on his
work in progress; all of which was rediscovered in 1965. The general purpose for this book is to show
Da Vinci s ideology surrounding art and intellectual findings that contributed to his talent. Leonardo
Da Vinci was more than just a painter. He was also considered a sculptor and a teacher. He found
interest in mathematic, science and nature. This book reveals how boundless Da Vinci s curiosity was.
Da Vinci trained as a painter in the studio of Andrea Verrocchio. He devoted long hours to the study of
nature even on holy days. Da Vinci explored every branch of science known at his time and proved to
many that he was far ahead of his time. This is exemplified in his precise observations and the value
he placed on empirical truth. Da Vinci states, No human investigation can be called true science
without going through mathematical tests... (page 16) This basically refers to the scientific method.
In sketch after sketch, his notebooks cite his preoccupation with architecture both as an artistic
expression and as a technical problem. In his painting of the town plan of

Carmax Hbr Case Analysis Essay
Industry Analysis Used car market was a huge market with attractive growth opportunities during
1980s. It was estimated worth $ 375 billion market. Competition was so deeply fragmented that no
single dealership could claim more than a few percentage points share of the used car market in any
locale. New car dealerships were the largest sellers of used cars. 65 % of late model, used vehicles
were sold by 21,800 new car dealers through out United States. However most of these new car
dealers considered used cars a secondary business. The remaining 35 % was a mix of independent

times increased demand for new cars among buyers who would otherwise be looking to buy a low

From Movements to Parties in Latin America. The Evolution...
The author analyzes how indigenous people s movements in Latin America transformed into viable
political parties. For her, these new parties are good for the democracy because they enrich and
enhance the legitimacy of the political and electoral system. She assumes that the primary link
between state and society are the parties and its accountability impact on the institutions. She proves
that the crisis of the traditional parties and the transformation of the historical electoral constrains
were determinant factors that contributed to ethnic party formation and consolidation. Van Cott
conclusions were based on the study of six countries: Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela as

Therefore, the asked question is under which conditions ethnic parties tended to merge and to endure?
To untangle this question the book uses primary and secondary sources. The primary ones are the
result of several years of field work in situ in the mentioned countries, except Argentina; and the
secondary ones are an exhaustive review of the scholarly over democratic regimes and electoral
systems, political parties and ethnic parties, and social movements in the international and national
levels. While doing this, she builds her own basic category of analysis: the ethnic party. An ethnic
party is defined as any political organization with a strong ethnic component: ethnic leaders, majority
of ethnic members, or have ethnic or cultural related core demands. Within these strictures, she
explores intrinsic and external reasons for party formation. When the indigenous communities realize
that they could keep their traditions, their land, and basically, their autonomy, and at the same time be
politically independent not a convenient minority for the left or for the dominant parties; they were
internally ready to face the changes coming from the outside. This consolidation process takes
approximately four to ten years when the social movement shapes itself and recognizes its capacity
and political possibilities. The external circumstances got more attention from the author. The

My Grandpam My Grandma Is A Hero In My Life
In my life so far there has been one person that always supported my decisions; been warm while the
world was cold, and loving till I thought there was no love left. My grandma has been a hero in

so much time with my grandma gave her plenty of opportunities to influence us and help us when we
needed it the most. We never thought of how lucky we were to have this figure in our lives, and how
much she impacted our futures. Creativity has been a big part of my family. Coming from a family of
musicians, craft fair workers, authors, and painters brings art to a whole new level. My grandma and I

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Election Of 1976
The Election of 1976
Nixon vs. Ford
The election of 1976 was held after the Watergate Scandal in the early 1970s caused by, the thirty
seventh president, Richard nixon. The two candidates in the 1976 campaign were, democrat, Jimmy
Carter and republican, Gerald Ford. With Ford coming into the race as a current president, he thought
that he would obviously win against, Jimmy Carter whose only political experience was being an
unrecognized state senator for four years, and being the governor of Georgia for a single term.
However, President Ford did have one very major disadvantage he was not very well liked across the
country due to specific circumstances that occurred during his presidency. Although both candidates
had completely different advantages and completely different disadvantages, they were were still able
to make it an exceedingly close election.
Gerald Ford who ran as part of the Republican party, was born on July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska,
but lived in Grand Rapids Michigan for the majority of his life. He was star college football player,
and although he got offers to make a professional career out of his talent Ford decided to enlist in the
navy and later take his economics degree to Yale University, where he attended law school. The first
time ford got a taste of politics was in 1940 when he was a volunteer for Wendell Willkie s
presidential campaign. However right when he Graduated and began to be introduced to the life of
politics World War II began and Gerald Ford enlisted into the United States Navy in 1942 and did not
return back to his normal life until 1946 and immediately returned to practicing law. A year later after
Ford got married he decided to run for congress in the fifth district of Michigan. Ford won the election
moving the newlyweds to Washington D.C.
Fords ambition was shown when he believed he could become speaker of the house even though he
only served as a House minority leader, him becoming Speaker of the house seemed highly unlikely.
Surprisingly ford was offered an even better political position; Vice President. After Richard Nixon s
current Vice President Spiro Agnew was forced to resign after allegations income tax evasion and
bribery in 1973, Nixon nominated gerald

The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change that
was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can
use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their
complex organisational environment.
The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today
s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations
strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order
to solve these issues.
It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma,
namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to
shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role playing and
strategic simulation.
Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy
gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a
step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show
the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. In the end, as the last part, they are giving
a conclusion and their own

Compare And Contrast Zero Hour And The War Of The Worlds
When reading science fiction, what do you think of? You think of the future, mechanisms, floating
cars, and much more! In the stories Zero Hour by Ray Bradbury and The War of the Worlds by H.G.
Wells, you will always think about one thing: the way aliens invade Earth and how people treat it, but
are these stories alike or different? Bradbury and Wells show how life would be during an alien
invasion using characters and events to portray their vision of an alien invasion. The authors of Zero
Hour and The War of the Worlds show characters that handle their feelings and the invasions in
different ways. The protagonists of each story is Mink from Zero Hour and the narrator from The War
of the Worlds. Each character handles invasions differently.

topic is my interest in the field of literature and importance of storytelling in the life of young school
going children in order to develop their intellectual and emotional power. In this paper, I will explore
many facts about the lessons any story has in it.
Problem statement:
This research mainly focuses on answering the question that either Aesop s fables are only for children
or not ? Is it only for young school going children or for adults too? The main problem creating
question is Why Aesop is considered as a childhood story teller only? Does not it have any effect on
adults or the writer has targeted children and young people while writing the stories? All these
questions will be answered in this research paper.
Data Collection:
In this research paper many sources will be used to gather the most appropriate and related data. Both,
primary and secondary data is used. For completing this paper, I will use Internet as the primary data,

Billy Walters Gambling
It s amazing just how much money impact casino lobbyists have had with gambling laws over time.
The success that Walters and other professional gamblers have had via their beards resulted in the
creation of messenger betting laws. Those laws ban a person from placing bets for someone else. In
fact, runners face felony charges and potential federal forfeiture laws. For instance, one of Walters
runners, Robert Walker, was charged in 2011 with breaking those laws with a potential 20 year prison
sentence and a $1 million fine.

attached to sports gambling clouds that perception. Sports gambling would likely be widely viewed as

Field Training Officer
My unit is the A detail or shift. I am currently the sergeant of the detail and have held this position for
10 years. Next in the chain of command is the corporal of the shift. He is responsible for assisting me
with the day to day operations of the shift including scheduling time off, evaluating officer, and
participating in the disciplining of officers as needed. In my absence, the corporal is responsible for
running the shift. There are eight other patrol officers assigned to A detail for a total of ten including
myself. Of these eight officers, two are also classified as a Field Training Officer (FTO). They have
the responsibility of training new officers in the department.

This program s goal is to reduce the lure of gangs for young children. While the program has been

taught in small classes, but the department and the school system put together classes of over sixty

The department instituted a crime mapping program two years ago. It was short lived and never

Physical education is a fundamental component of the Australian curriculum that maintains an
underlying goal of providing the knowledge and skills to students to allow them to live healthy and
productive lives. However, the beginning of physical education in its purest form can be traced back to
a time when human society was in its infancy, when the discipline would have been exhibited mainly
through necessary survival skills including hunting and spear throwing along with combat skills
involving wrestling and swordsmanship (Lumpkin, 2004). The ancient Greeks bestowed great honour
and prestige upon those who possessed athletic perfection through the emphasis on the anatomy of an
individual and their balanced life. This was coupled with the Olympic Games that were used to

Political Sociology Reading List And Rationale
Political Sociology Reading List and Rationale
The purpose of this comprehensive exam is to give me an opportunity to demonstrate mastery over
relevant debates, theories, and empirical findings in the major issues of political sociology. I will also
examine theoretical and empirical approaches to classic and contemporary fundamental questions of
political sociology. My primary goal here is to learn how to think critically like a political sociologist
and be able to understand and use the major concepts, frameworks and representatives of political
sociology for my doctoral project. Political sociology is a very broad and multi dimensional discipline.
Thus, to examine the mentioned issues, I will primarily look at the various cases and hot debates
around the intersection of Islam and politics in the modern world.
I organized my reading list at five parts that match the scope of my doctoral research as well as
expanding my expertise within political sociology. My subfields consist of (1) the overview of
political sociology, (2) Islam and Muslim politics, (3) Islam and modernity debates (4) multiple
modernities, and (5) religion and immigration: Islam and Muslim in the western societies. These
subsections will be particularly useful for me because my research project is developing within
political sociology, Islam and politics and multiple modernity perspectives.
The section of overview of political sociology will provide me to become familiar with and capable of

Common Infection Among Women During Child Bearing Period
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common infection among women, it can affect up to 75% of
women during child bearing period. VVC usually associated with considerable morbidity; symptoms
include intense pruritus, vaginal discharge and dyspareunia. Many factors have been identified to
predispose to such condition such as oral contraceptive pills, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes
mellitus and long term broad spectrum antibiotic (Cassone, 2015, Falagas et al., 2006). Beyond the
normal host, the range of patients at risk for invasive candidiasis expand to patients with acquired
immunodeficiency syndrome, those immunosuppressed due to cancer therapy and organ
transplantation (Bassyouni et al., 2015a).
Recurrent VVC (RVVC) is a more serious condition due to recurrences of symptoms ( 4/year) and
refraction to successful treatment. Long term fluconazole therapy may help in delaying the
recurrences but does not result in a long lasting cure (Sobel et al., 2004). Maintenance and preventive
therapy is essential for six months but, patients may need to stay on medication for a longer period
(Ringdahl, 2000).
Recent epidemiological studies founded the prevalence of RVVC higher than that reported previously
as the recurrence rate about 7 8% of women who experience a first episode and the discomfort
associated with RVVC is intense which markedly affects the quality of life of young women with a
strong negative impact on work and social life (Cassone, 2015).

narrator, a boy who is infatuated with his friend s sister. He has created a routine that will allow him to

circumstance that she will not be able to attend. As days passed the boy can t wait till the day arrives

Should Laptops Be Allowed In The Classroom
The Tools They Use: Should Laptops Be Allowed In the Classroom? In today s classrooms, laptops
are becoming more and more prevalent. Their use has been fervently debated, with some teachers in
support of allowing students unrestricted access to their laptops and some in support of banning them
completely. With restrictions for classes such as mathematics or science, laptops should be allowed in
other classroom settings because they allow students to take thorough notes and to jot down more of
the lecture. Several arguments are presented by those in favor of banning laptops in the classroom, and
many of them are echoed. In a New Yorker article by Dan Rockmore, The Case for Banning Laptops
In the Classroom, Rockmore claims that students who take long hand notes instead of taking notes on
their laptops retain the information better and are less distracted than those with unfettered internet
access (Rockmore para. 7). He states that taking long hand notes helps students integrate the
information and creates deeper modes of recall (Rockmore para. 7). Rockmore cites studies from
universities like Cornell and Princeton to support his assertions (Rockmore para. 5, 7). Aside from
shallow note retention, he implies that laptops can be distracting to students because they are portals
for socialization and entertainment (Rockmore para. 9). National Public Radio s James Doubek shares
similar arguments. In his article, Attention Students: Put Your Laptops Away, he brings up the

Analysis Of Surah Al Kahf
Analysis of Surah Al Kahf
Introduction
The eighteenth surah (chapter) The Cave , is among the earliest of revelations revealed to the Prophet
Muhammad ‫ﷺ‬ . Regarding this surah the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬ is reported as saying whoever recites surah al
Kahf on Jumu ah (Friday) will have illumination from the light from one Jumu ah to the next this
assertion may be due to another narration in which he ‫ﷺ‬ said whoever recites three ayat (verses) from
the beginning of al Kahf he is protected from the fitnah (great trials and tribulations) of ad Dajjal (the

Just as the people of the cave were tested with their religious conviction amid endemic persecution, so
too will the conviction of people be tested at the time of ad Dajjal s coming. Dr Yassir Qadhi cites the
hadith of the Prophet ‫ﷺ‬as drawing a parallel to the people of the cave in that the fitnah of religion is
something to take great precaution against, or even flee from .
The exchange between the affluent and poor man (verses 32 44)
The following story is that of a dialogue between two men; one to whom had been given a bountiful
garden, high societal status and thamar . Although the verses prior credit his financial security to Allah
verses 34 36 depict the man self ascribing his fortune and denouncing as saa ah of which ultimately
lead to the destruction of all his produce .
Hadith states the Dajjal will come at a time of rampant poverty and famine with a mountain of bread
and a river of water and will lay claim to having control over cultivation however, the lesson to be
drawn from the hadith and within these verses, through the man of lower status is that there is no
power except in Allah , the true creator and so wealth, or lack thereof, can also be a fitnah one should
seek protection from.

Environmental Interest for Wolves

Environmental Interest for Wolves at Yellowstone National Park
Wolves play an important environmental interest in Yellowstone for many reasons. Wolves keep the
world of predators and prey in balance. After wolves eat, the leftovers from their kills feeds many
animals like scavengers, bald, golden eagles, magpies, coyotes, ravens, and bears. Without wolves to
share land with coyotes they will kill more elks mostly on pocket gophers, voles, and other small
animals. It s an environment interest to keep wolves in Yellowstone because for example make

It s an environmental interest and benefits to the recovery of wolves because wolves are predator of
elks and bringing them back will reduce overpopulation. Because of the growing population of elks
while wolves were in extinction, this resulted to an imbalance in the ecosystem and overfeeding on
vegetation, that s why is very important to make sure we have wolves in Yellowstone because if we
don t then it will result in an imbalance in our ecosystem because one organism needs the other one to
survive and be balanced.
In conclusion, wolves are important to balance the ecosystem and renew our ecosystems. They
improve the territory and increase populations of a lot of species from birds of prey to pronghorn, and
even trout. The presence of wolves impacts the population and behavior of their prey, changing the
chasing and hunting patterns of prey animals and how they move about the land. This, in turn, flows
throughout plants and animal s areas, often changing the landscape itself. For this reason, wolves are
described as a important species, whose existence is fundamental to maintaining the health, structure

Periodic Trends Of Chemical Properties
Periodic Trends of Chemical and Physical Properties in Group 1A and 7A
Hamish Thomson, Chemistry 11.2, Mr Ryan O Sullivan
Intro:
In chemistry, there are two classes of observable properties matter can display; chemical and physical.
These properties are classified by what needs to happen to the substance before the property becomes
evident. Chemical properties require a chemical change while physical properties don t need a
chemical change to occur. Four properties of the alkali metals and halogens will be talked about
through this essay, two chemical and two physical. The two chemical properties will be reactivity, how
willing a substance is to undergo a chemical change and toxicity, the ability of a substance to cause
damage to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Fig 1 the reactivity of Non Metals decreases every period and increases every group, the halogens
lie on the end of the group of Non metals causing them to be highly reactive. The alkali metals have a
single electron in their outer electron shell, making it easy for them to become a noble gas and period
down the periodic table the easier it is to get rid of the extra electron, causing the alkali metals to
become more reactive the further down the periods. To become a noble gas a halogen must gain an
electron, the farther away the outer shell is from the nucleus, the more energy that is required for an
electron to enter the shell. Halogens need one more electron to become a noble gas, while alkali
metals need to donate an electron to become a noble gas. (Johnsonburg High School, n.d.) Fig 1. This
shows the trends of the reactivity of Metals and non metals on the periodic table.
Paragraph 3. Toxicity
Toxicity is how dangerous a substance is to an organism, it is commonly measured by the amount
required to kill 50% of the population of a given organism. The toxicity of the alkali metals increases
each period, due to the increase in reactivity. The toxicity of the halogens decreases as you go down
until astatine, which is harmful due to radioactivity (Helmenstine, 2017).
Paragraph 4. What is a physical property:
A physical property is a property of matter that can be observed without causing a

Concentration Of Sucrose Lab Report
Choudhury Asif Ibne Yusuf
Lab Section 1
Using different concentrations of sucrose affecting movement of water in and out of dialysis tube to
find the concentration of an unknown solution
Introduction
This experiments attempts to find how different concentrations of sucrose affect the amount of
osmosis that occurs in a dialysis tubing and finally to find concentration of the unknown sucrose
solution. The dialysis tubing represents a cell with a semi permeable membrane therefore water with
along with some other substances are able to move. A gradient is exist when there is an uneven
distributions. Gradients exist in these sucrose concentrations which are hypotonic when placed in
distilled water as there is higher concentration of water outside ... Show more content on

The higher concentrations of sucrose, more water will move inside the dialysis tubes at a faster rate.
Therefore dialysis bag with higher concentrations of sucrose will have greater difference in mass over
time and thus a greater rate of osmosis. The variables were controlled by keeping the amount of
sucrose concentration to be at 20 ml and the distilled water to be at 200 ml. Weight balance was
covered to stop letting the air affect the weight of each bags. Although the data supports my
hypothesis, there has been outliers. For example, in the control group there happens to be osmosis
going on but at a smaller rate than the other concentrations. This wasn t supposed to happen because
due to isotonic nature of solution. This might have been due to excess water in dialysis bag. Since this
experiment heavily relies on the handling of the experiments, errors could have easily occurred. The
dialysis might not have been properly dried. One of the example of this 2% sucrose having 21.4 grams
at 30 minutes from 21.9 grams at 20 minutes. The air conditioner could have affected the results
during the data collection phase although steps were taken to prevent this from happening. Not having
the same experimenter for the dialysis bag might have affected the results. Not tying the dental floss
tightly may have caused the loss in mass for certain bags. Errors could have occurred from the time it
took to out the bag from the distilled

Persuasive Essay About Christopher Columbus
The year was 1492, and a European catholic man determined to find a new trade route to the Asian
continents accidently discovers the American continent, by doing so he introduces the old world to the
new. I m speaking of course of Christopher Columbus, the great explore. Little did he know that he
would spark a fire of exploration and conquest. Fueled by greed and of lavish stories told about cities
of gold. The Conquistadors of Spain would come in ships by the hundreds, roaming and pillaging the
new lands of South America. As the conquistadors moved further north they discover a very hostile
and beautiful land later called Texas . Years later, the French come to Texas and so do the Anglos
which derived of Germans, Irish and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m speaking of cores of Houston, Dallas and San Antonio. There are also city s such as Austin, Fort
Worth and El Paso with populations exceeding over 500,000. Between the years of 2011 and 2012 the
city of San Marcos had the highest growth rate in all the united states cities with more than a 50,000
population increases. In a 2010 census the population in Texas the population was estimated to be
25,145,561. The 2010 census confirmed a population growth of 20.6%from the previous census back
in 2000were the estimated population was at 20,851,820. This percentage may seem like a big number
but it is a steady and for the most part a very accurate calculation for the Texas population. The largest
increase in the population of Texas was between the years of 1850 through 1860 were the population
was 212,592 and shot up to 604,215. Giving this ten year period a 184.2%. (US Census) In a
tx.us/Publications/2014 11 article the Texas Population Projections 2010 to 2050, highlights a
population explosion that may well occur over the next 45 years those individuals aged 14 and under
would nearly double from 5.7 million in 2010 to 10.2 million in 2050. The 15 64 demographic would
swell from 16.8 million to 34.7 million, and the senior 65 and over demographic would jump from 2.6
million to 9.4 million. In total, Texas population would swell to 54.4 million, based on immigration
and people moving from other U.S. states. The report predicted Hispanic population to

Risk Factors For Sudden Agitations For Adults After Being...
In this clinical report, the study investigates the risk factors for sudden agitations for adults after being
applied anesthesia for urological surgery. The report defined agitation as a sudden anxious state (Kim
2014). The study included the patients medical history to ensure that the incident of emergency
agitation was not linked to the patient. All the patients were undergoing urological studies. The
patients were separated into control and experimental groups. Next, each patient was given different
dosages of anesthesia. Afterwards, medical workers scored each patient from 1 10 on their level of
agitation . The resulting data showed a positive correlation between the amount of anesthesia applied

In this research report, the report investigates the effect of ketamine, alfentanil, and oral midazolam on
preventing agitation in children. Contrary to the previous annotated bibliography, the study
investigates anesthesia that would prevent agitation. The study investigated 78 children undergoing
urological surgery. Each child was randomly assigned 2 mg/kg ketamine, 10 ug/kg alfentanil or 1 mL
of isotonic saline intranasally (Bilgen 2014). Researchers then determined the percentage of times the
child would become agitated. The data revealed that agitation decreased most for the group applied
with ketamine, and the least for the group applied with isotonic saline. Therefore, the study concludes
that applying ketamine is most effective for reducing agitation. Nevertheless, all three anesthesia
reduced agitation in children, albeit, in random amounts.
The study s strength were measuring a large sample (78 children), using different types of anesthesia
to reduce agitation, and randomly assigning different anesthesia to different children. One of the flaws
was limiting the study only to children. The study does not include how anesthesia would affect the
general population. This study is relevant to my research because it presents an example of the
benefits of anesthesia, showing

Private Prisons Are The Operation Of A Prison
The need of private detainment facilities has immediately created all through numerous years. Private
jails are the operation of a jail by a privately owned business under contract with a nearby, state, or
potentially central government, frequently as a revenue driven business. With the gigantic
development inside the prison masses coming to fruition because of the War on Drugs and extended
usage of confinement, correctional facility clog and expanding costs ended up being logically dubious
for neighborhood, state, and focal governments. With this expanding criminal equity framework,
private business interests saw an open entryway for improvement, and thusly, private part nearness in
penitentiaries moved from the direct contracting of organizations to contracting for the aggregate
organization and operation of entire confinement offices. Close by, the development and increment of
private detainment facilities as a few extra associations there are upsides and downsides. On August
eighteenth, 2016 The United States Justice Department declared, that it wanted to end its utilization of
private jails after authorities finished up the offices are both less sheltered and less successful at giving
remedial administrations than those kept running by the administration Deputy Attorney General Sally
Yates expressed that they essentially don t give a similar level of restorative administrations, projects,
and assets; they don t spare considerably on expenses; and as noted in a late

Pros And Cons Of Year-Round School
Around 3,181 schools over our country have all year round schooling. Some people feel that year
round schooling is very beneficial for the kids. Others feel that a nine month school year is a plenty
and that children need the long summer break. There are certainly pros and cons to both ideas. Which
one is really the best, though? I feel that the traditional school calendar is the best way to go.
A traditional school year is what most of us are use to. Some of the main pros to this type of school
year is the long summer break. It allows open calendar for family time, vacations, summer camps and
freedom for the students and the teachers. There is a con though to this type of schedule. With that
long break comes the issue of the summer slide

Essay On Being A Jerk
I can t believe I did that. Yeah I can t either, I mean I know she hates that kid but hitting him wasn t
the first option I gave her. There was also just yelling at him or making fun of him back. I even offered
to help her get him in trouble. Sure, in fourth grade a girl hitting a boy won t do much damage, maybe
some psychological depending on how much trouble they get in, but it still wasn t the best thing to do.
Why is he such a jerk to me? That s what she said to start this whole situation. He had been making
fun of her because of her religion. She s a Jehovah Witness which all a fourth grader understood was
no holidays ever, not even birthdays. The kid assumed that meant that her family was just a bad one,
which lead him to think she was a bad kid. She wasn t, in fact she has to be the nicest person I ve ever
met. Always laughing and smiling just being a bright spark really. Dancing, signing, being a teacher s
pet because of how clever she is. I don t say ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why not, I mean he really deserves it. In my opinion atleast. I don t like taking crap from other
people. Getting into arguments with other kids and manipulating it to where they got in trouble. I
found crying on cue really helps there. I was more of a holy terror towards the other kids. The teacher
liked me, which is why i would hardly get in trouble for the things i did. We became friends because
of just how genuinely nice and smart she was. She said she saw me as a rough diamond more than a
terror, I truly don t know how.
But I don t want to get in trouble. Trouble, what was she talking about. I had been a horrible kid but
never had anything bad happen. She had never done anything bad so of course she was worried. I
doubt the teachers would do much even if she was caught.
The teachers won t do anything, just hit him or we can get him in trouble. The kid did truly deserve to
have something happen to him. A recess taken away seemed like a good

Edward Gein Research Paper
Edward Theodore Gein was born on August 27th in 1906 in the city of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Even at
the beginning, it seems as though he had a troubled home life. Upon moving to a small farm outside
Plainfield, his father was always working whether it was as a carpenter and tanner, or at the farm.
When he isn t working however, he is drinking. As such, he is not around for the major family
decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940.
Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly,
that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year. This caused doubts for Ed. He
has considered multiple times to get transsexual surgery, but turned against it because he thought there
were better ways of turning female . For this, among other odd personality traits, he became secluded,
never talking to those in the community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He developed a very unhealthy interest in the anatomy of the female body, looking through medical
encyclopedias and pornographic magazines. During World War 2, he was fascinated by the medical
experiments performed in the concentration camps. After all this, he still wanted to know more about
the female body. So, he went to multiple cemeteries and dug up female bodies, dissecting the body. He
would take the skin from the body and wear them as suits to dance in, use different organs to make
furniture, or would fondle the victim s genitalia, wearing the underwear that they have worn or he has
put on the body. But this isn t all, he would save specific parts for fancier days wearing the face, scalp,
or vest of the bodies torso and breasts. Gein felt that this would help him achieve contentment by
putting on a different gender and also made him feel closer to his

Bill Cosby Biography
If I could add a person to the book of black history, it would be Bill Cosby. His importance to the
African American history is vastly underestimated. He s more than a comedian. He s more than an
entertainer. He is a trailblazer whose accomplishments will forever be encrypted into the African
American culture.
Bill Cosby was among the first blacks to rise in entertainment. He made millions laugh and his
passion ignited something more than just a new era of comedy. His shows were not just for a comical
view. It taught independence, individuality, equality, and educated the nation on the importance of
knowledge. For example, in his hit television broadcast The Cosby Show , it spoke to racism and class
in the 1980s. Bill Cosby did something ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Allegiance of the United States of America states One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and
justice for all. Be perspective of what goes on in our world. There is no liberty and justice for all yet.

This unexpected disaster was not the largest or the deadliest earthquake and tsunami to strike. More than 120,000 buildings were destroyed, 278,000. The total economic cost could reach up to $235 billion, the World Bank estimated, making it the costliest natural disaster in world history. That record goes to the 2004 Banda Aceh earthquake and tsunami in Sumatra, which killed more than 230,000 people. The March 11 earthquake started on a Friday at 2:46 p.m. local time. Japan s scientists had forecast a smaller earthquake would strike the northern region of Honshu, the country s main island. The direct financial damage from the disaster is estimated to be about $199 billion dollars. In Japan, residents are still recovering from the disaster. • 7. Essay On Immigrant Students In Secondary Schools In this paper, I want to focus on Immigrant Students in Secondary Schools. As a previous high school immigrant when I first arrived in United States, I have experience numerous difficulties in school that I would never forget. In addition, I believe immigrant students of secondary school can face major difficulties in learning English and succeeding in school. Since these students do not have a lot of time than elementary students to learn English, and they have to pass several test that require English skill such as the ACT and SAT. Above all, most secondary school texts and materials require a sufficient English reading ability to understand, which will even make learning experience becoming even tougher for high school immigrant. ... I actually have no knowledge of American History; even I went to the full four years public high school in America. That is why I am questioning the education system in the United States. Instead of spending countless periods in regular History and Biology classes without understand any materials, why schools do not offer History and Biology classes but just for ESL student, using simple and easier form of English to understand, so immigrant students can actually learn more about the subjects. In the addition, schools should also give an instructional program that give English language learners access to academic concepts and skills. Therefore, I certainly believe if there were program and curricular alternatives for students with limited English proficiency, students would not experience a difficult time with their school. Moreover, research has showed that due to these difficulties that immigrant students have to face, there is a high dropout rates among language minority secondary school students. For example, Hispanic students are more likely than White students to leave school during their high school years (10% versus 4%; National Center for Education Statistics, 1996). • 8. Leadership Theory And Philosophy Of Leadership Essay The belief of leadership is constantly changing, with many theories and frameworks available. Today s organizations face ever increasing change, which includes increased patient demands and work needs, which requires a more adaptive flexible leadership that is becoming increasingly important in the 21st century. Leadership theory and philosophy can be divided into several well known styles. Within this paper, we will discuss the basis of autocratic, democratic, laissez faire, servant, charismatic, transformational, and situational styles of leadership within the nursing profession, then conclude the writer s personal philosophies of leadership. To begin, autocratic leadership involves leaders to make decisions without input from their followers (Frandsen, 2014). This style of leadership also incorporates negative reinforcement. Maboko (2011) gathered that nurse managers who embodied an autocratic leadership style yield registered nurses to feel unappreciated, criticized and blamed. On the other hand, a democratic leadership encourages and facilitates open discussions and participation from its followers. Followers are given responsibility, accountability and constructive feedback to improve (Frandsen, 2014). McKeown and Carey (2015) stated the lack of democracy and participation is one of many sources of a decreased morale. The lack of control had a negative connotation on nurses and their relationships with patients. Additionally, this resulted in fragmented care and poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Species like whales, porpoises and others find their way into these gears but are unable to get out of them. A staggering 300, 000 marine mammals are killed through bycatch. Even with the new monitoring, many dolphins are continuously being killed through this fishing technique. Thanks to dolphin safe labels and movement, there has been great improvement on this practice. This improvement has led to a reduction of dolphin mortalities to less than 1500 per year in 2004. Unfortunately, even with this progress, dolphins and the other marine mammals affected are struggling to repopulate because of how affected the species were from all the previous years but also since large scale captures are still going on. The discovery of the effect of the ETP tuna fishery on dolphins has opened the door to a realization that other fisheries are killing several other marine mammals. The baji Lipotes vexillifer is now declared extinct as well as the vaquita Phocoena sinus. Constructionism focuses on how meaning is created hence when we use the term socially constructed we are referring to how society and culture create gender roles which are in turn prescribed as normal and appropriate behavior expected from a person of that particular gender. More radical versions of the social constructionist theory go as far as to argue that the behavioral differences that exist between men and women are entirely social conventions free of any biological or evolutional influence. Since the diet pills are about to enter the market, its marketing strategies should be planned subject to the demands of introduction stages in product life cycle (Day 1981, pp. 60 67). Based on the patterns of slow sales growth, the producers can make an arrangement to put awareness building in the first place. Generally this tactic takes the form of free trial products, discounts or advertisement on the Internet and media to establish its market and raise awareness among potential customers in the initial development period (Guiltinan 1999, pp. 509 529). However, concerns like profits shrinkage and potential brand degradation are barriers to have negative influence on the subsequent development. • 12. Analysis Of Catherine Maria Sedgwick s The Scarlett... Comparing Catherine Maria Sedgwick s Hope Leslie or Early Times in Massachusetts and Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlett Letter is interesting because at first glance both novels don t appear to have much in common. However, despite obvious differences between both novels such as the character presentation of the female protagonists in Hope Leslie, who range from the free spirited Hope Leslie, obedient Puritan Esther, and Magawisca as a noble but proud Native American contrasts with Hester Prynne s presentation as a shamed but deeply contemplative woman in The Scarlett Letter. The different purposes all these characters each serve in their respective stories begins to show commonality in that Hope Leslie s Hope, Esther, and Magawisca and The Scarlett Letter s Hester Prynne all have to overcome the adversity and social expectations within their Puritan society so that they can do what they feel is right by relying on their feelings, intelligence, and inner strength. By examining how characters such as Hope Leslie and Hester Prynne overcome the challenges they face in their respective Puritan societies, it will be easier to discover how both novels presentations of their female protagonist illustrates the gender politics of each text. One part of the book entitled The Painter is by Anna Maria Brizio, the other part is The Sculptor which is interpreted by Maria Vittoria Brugnoli and the last section is The Teacher by André Chastel. The book is comprised of Da Vinci s notebooks with sketches and comments on his work in progress; all of which was rediscovered in 1965. The general purpose for this book is to show Da Vinci s ideology surrounding art and intellectual findings that contributed to his talent. Leonardo Da Vinci was more than just a painter. He was also considered a sculptor and a teacher. He found interest in mathematic, science and nature. This book reveals how boundless Da Vinci s curiosity was. Da Vinci trained as a painter in the studio of Andrea Verrocchio. He devoted long hours to the study of nature even on holy days. Da Vinci explored every branch of science known at his time and proved to many that he was far ahead of his time. This is exemplified in his precise observations and the value he placed on empirical truth. Da Vinci states, No human investigation can be called true science without going through mathematical tests... (page 16) This basically refers to the scientific method. For her, these new parties are good for the democracy because they enrich and enhance the legitimacy of the political and electoral system. She assumes that the primary link between state and society are the parties and its accountability impact on the institutions. While doing this, she builds her own basic category of analysis: the ethnic party. An ethnic party is defined as any political organization with a strong ethnic component: ethnic leaders, majority of ethnic members, or have ethnic or cultural related core demands. Within these strictures, she explores intrinsic and external reasons for party formation. When the indigenous communities realize that they could keep their traditions, their land, and basically, their autonomy, and at the same time be politically independent not a convenient minority for the left or for the dominant parties; they were internally ready to face the changes coming from the outside. My Grandpam My Grandma Is A Hero In My Life In my life so far there has been one person that always supported my decisions; been warm while the world was cold, and loving till I thought there was no love left. My grandma has been a hero in disguise for as long as I can remember. Her creativity Inspires me, and her ability to teach others makes me feel proud to call her my grandma. Since I was little, my grandma would babysit my sister and I almost every weekend, making us food, playing board games, and watching movies. Spending so much time with my grandma gave her plenty of opportunities to influence us and help us when we needed it the most. Coming from a family of musicians, craft fair workers, authors, and painters brings art to a whole new level. Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Election Of 1976 The Election of 1976 Nixon vs. Ford The election of 1976 was held after the Watergate Scandal in the early 1970s caused by, the thirty seventh president, Richard nixon. The two candidates in the 1976 campaign were, democrat, Jimmy Carter and republican, Gerald Ford. With Ford coming into the race as a current president, he thought that he would obviously win against, Jimmy Carter whose only political experience was being an unrecognized state senator for four years, and being the governor of Georgia for a single term. However, President Ford did have one very major disadvantage he was not very well liked across the country due to specific circumstances that occurred during his presidency. Although both candidates had completely different advantages and completely different disadvantages, they were were still able to make it an exceedingly close election. Gerald Ford who ran as part of the Republican party, was born on July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska, but lived in Grand Rapids Michigan for the majority of his life. He was star college football player, and although he got offers to make a professional career out of his talent Ford decided to enlist in the navy and later take his economics degree to Yale University, where he attended law school. The first time ford got a taste of politics was in 1940 when he was a volunteer for Wendell Willkie s presidential campaign. A year later after Ford got married he decided to run for congress in the fifth district of Michigan. Ford won the election moving the newlyweds to Washington D.C. Fords ambition was shown when he believed he could become speaker of the house even though he only served as a House minority leader, him becoming Speaker of the house seemed highly unlikely. Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay Research Assignment 1 Summary: Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change that was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their complex organisational environment. The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order to solve these issues. It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma, namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role playing and strategic simulation. Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. In the end, as the last part, they are giving a conclusion and their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their use has been fervently debated, with some teachers in support of allowing students unrestricted access to their laptops and some in support of banning them completely. With restrictions for classes such as mathematics or science, laptops should be allowed in other classroom settings because they allow students to take thorough notes and to jot down more of the lecture. Several arguments are presented by those in favor of banning laptops in the classroom, and many of them are echoed. In a New Yorker article by Dan Rockmore, The Case for Banning Laptops In the Classroom, Rockmore claims that students who take long hand notes instead of taking notes on their laptops retain the information better and are less distracted than those with unfettered internet access (Rockmore para. 7). He states that taking long hand notes helps students integrate the information and creates deeper modes of recall (Rockmore para. 7). Rockmore cites studies from universities like Cornell and Princeton to support his assertions (Rockmore para. 5, 7). Because of the growing population of elks while wolves were in extinction, this resulted to an imbalance in the ecosystem and overfeeding on vegetation, that s why is very important to make sure we have wolves in Yellowstone because if we don t then it will result in an imbalance in our ecosystem because one organism needs the other one to survive and be balanced. In conclusion, wolves are important to balance the ecosystem and renew our ecosystems. They improve the territory and increase populations of a lot of species from birds of prey to pronghorn, and even trout. The presence of wolves impacts the population and behavior of their prey, changing the chasing and hunting patterns of prey animals and how they move about the land. This, in turn, flows throughout plants and animal s areas, often changing the landscape itself. For this reason, wolves are described as a important species, whose existence is fundamental to maintaining the health, structure and balance of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Periodic Trends Of Chemical Properties Periodic Trends of Chemical and Physical Properties in Group 1A and 7A Hamish Thomson, Chemistry 11.2, Mr Ryan O Sullivan Intro: In chemistry, there are two classes of observable properties matter can display; chemical and physical. These properties are classified by what needs to happen to the substance before the property becomes evident. Chemical properties require a chemical change while physical properties don t need a chemical change to occur. Four properties of the alkali metals and halogens will be talked about through this essay, two chemical and two physical. The two chemical properties will be reactivity, how willing a substance is to undergo a chemical change and toxicity, the ability of a substance to cause damage to an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Fig 1 the reactivity of Non Metals decreases every period and increases every group, the halogens lie on the end of the group of Non metals causing them to be highly reactive. The alkali metals have a single electron in their outer electron shell, making it easy for them to become a noble gas and period down the periodic table the easier it is to get rid of the extra electron, causing the alkali metals to become more reactive the further down the periods. To become a noble gas a halogen must gain an electron, the farther away the outer shell is from the nucleus, the more energy that is required for an electron to enter the shell. Halogens need one more electron to become a noble gas, while alkali metals need to donate an electron to become a noble gas. (Johnsonburg High School, n.d.) Fig 1. This shows the trends of the reactivity of Metals and non metals on the periodic table. Paragraph 3. Toxicity Toxicity is how dangerous a substance is to an organism, it is commonly measured by the amount required to kill 50% of the population of a given organism. The toxicity of the alkali metals increases each period, due to the increase in reactivity. The toxicity of the halogens decreases as you go down until astatine, which is harmful due to radioactivity (Helmenstine, 2017). Paragraph 4. What is a physical property: A physical property is a property of matter that can be observed without causing a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Concentration Of Sucrose Lab Report Choudhury Asif Ibne Yusuf Lab Section 1 Using different concentrations of sucrose affecting movement of water in and out of dialysis tube to find the concentration of an unknown solution Introduction This experiments attempts to find how different concentrations of sucrose affect the amount of osmosis that occurs in a dialysis tubing and finally to find concentration of the unknown sucrose solution. The dialysis tubing represents a cell with a semi permeable membrane therefore water with along with some other substances are able to move. A gradient is exist when there is an uneven distributions. Gradients exist in these sucrose concentrations which are hypotonic when placed in distilled water as there is higher concentration of water outside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The higher concentrations of sucrose, more water will move inside the dialysis tubes at a faster rate. Therefore dialysis bag with higher concentrations of sucrose will have greater difference in mass over time and thus a greater rate of osmosis. The variables were controlled by keeping the amount of sucrose concentration to be at 20 ml and the distilled water to be at 200 ml. Weight balance was covered to stop letting the air affect the weight of each bags. Although the data supports my hypothesis, there has been outliers. For example, in the control group there happens to be osmosis going on but at a smaller rate than the other concentrations. This wasn t supposed to happen because due to isotonic nature of solution. This might have been due to excess water in dialysis bag. Since this experiment heavily relies on the handling of the experiments, errors could have easily occurred. The dialysis might not have been properly dried. One of the example of this 2% sucrose having 21.4 grams at 30 minutes from 21.9 grams at 20 minutes. The air conditioner could have affected the results during the data collection phase although steps were taken to prevent this from happening. Not having the same experimenter for the dialysis bag might have affected the results. Not tying the dental floss tightly may have caused the loss in mass for certain bags. Errors could have occurred from the time it took to out the bag from the distilled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The report defined agitation as a sudden anxious state (Kim 2014). The study included the patients medical history to ensure that the incident of emergency agitation was not linked to the patient. All the patients were undergoing urological studies. The patients were separated into control and experimental groups. Next, each patient was given different dosages of anesthesia. In this research report, the report investigates the effect of ketamine, alfentanil, and oral midazolam on preventing agitation in children. Contrary to the previous annotated bibliography, the study investigates anesthesia that would prevent agitation. The study investigated 78 children undergoing urological surgery. Each child was randomly assigned 2 mg/kg ketamine, 10 ug/kg alfentanil or 1 mL of isotonic saline intranasally (Bilgen 2014). Researchers then determined the percentage of times the child would become agitated. The data revealed that agitation decreased most for the group applied with ketamine, and the least for the group applied with isotonic saline. Therefore, the study concludes that applying ketamine is most effective for reducing agitation. Nevertheless, all three anesthesia reduced agitation in children, albeit, in random amounts. The study s strength were measuring a large sample (78 children), using different types of anesthesia to reduce agitation, and randomly assigning different anesthesia to different children. One of the flaws was limiting the study only to children. The study does not include how anesthesia would affect the general population. This study is relevant to my research because it presents an example of the benefits of anesthesia, showing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Private jails are the operation of a jail by a privately owned business under contract with a nearby, state, or potentially central government, frequently as a revenue driven business. With the gigantic development inside the prison masses coming to fruition because of the War on Drugs and extended usage of confinement, correctional facility clog and expanding costs ended up being logically dubious for neighborhood, state, and focal governments. With this expanding criminal equity framework, private business interests saw an open entryway for improvement, and thusly, private part nearness in penitentiaries moved from the direct contracting of organizations to contracting for the aggregate organization and operation of entire confinement offices. Close by, the development and increment of private detainment facilities as a few extra associations there are upsides and downsides. As such, he is not around for the major family decisions, leaving them to Ed s mother Augusta, whom was very religious. Ed s father died in 1940. Four years later, his brother Henry died whilst battling fires. That left Ed and his mother. But sadly, that was shortly lived as his mother died from a stroke that same year.
