How Did Roman Music Influence Ancient Greek Culture
When a person hears Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome he probably envisions great military battles or
grand columns that adorn every structure. However, music, while not as equally honored as the
Colosseum, still deserves recognition for playing an integral part in citizens lives during ancient times.
While knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman music is limited to fragments of old music scores from
the era, literary references, and the actual remains of musical instruments, society will still benefit
from studying these rich ancient cultures. Obviously, music from both these civilizations are
extremely similar to each other in the role it plays in society and the instruments used due to the
influence of ancient Greece on Rome.
In both cultures, music played a large role in society. In Ancient Greece, music was essential to ...

This high regard for music in life stemmed from Greek mythology itself. For example, Amphion
learned music from the Greek god Hermes and then with a golden lyre, he built Thebes by moving
stones into place with the sound of his playing. There also many references to indicate that music
played an important role in the Greek perception of how their race had come into existence and how
their destinies were controlled by the Gods. Other artistic forms, such as literature, praise music as
well: most of the known Greek poetry and dramas today were sung or accompanied by music in
ancient times. Professional musicians were well respected and people who achieved small
accomplishments in music were regarded as cultural and tasteful.

A Short Note On Visa Program Vs. Visa Programs
How does the J 1 visa program compare to the H 2 visa program? How do the employer sponsorship
requirements, work protections, problems, and litigation trends, and other components of the programs
compare? Short Answer The J 1 visa program is very unlike the H 2 visa program in design, oversight,
and regulation. The J 1 visa program contains 15 different categories of participants, where some, such
as secondary students, are generally not allowed to work. Furthermore, sponsor requirements for the J
1 visa program are not at the employer level, but a level above with so called sponsors. The J 1
program, like the H 2 program does suffer employer abuse in such things as wages and hours, but for
different reasons. Unlike the H 2 visa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The J 1 visa program dwarves the H 2 visa program. For example, in 2013, estimates were that there
were 215,866 J 1 visa participants as compared to 74,859 H 2A workers and 94,919 H 2B workers. J 1
visa participants are like H 2 workers in that they lack access to many public benefits and such things
as federal funded lawyers. b. Sponsorship and Employer Requirements To qualify as a sponsor for the
J 1 visa program, an entity must be a U.S. government entity at any level, an international organization
or agency that the U.S. is a member of and have an office in the U.S., or [r]eputable organizations that
are United States Persons. To earn a sponsor designation, such entity must: (1) Demonstrate, to the
Department of State s satisfaction, its ability to comply and remain in continual compliance with all
applicable provisions of this part; (2) Meet at all times its financial obligations and responsibilities
attendant to successful sponsorship of its exchange visitor program; and (3) Demonstrate that the
organization or its proposed Responsible Officer has no fewer than three years experience in
international exchange. The Department of State ( DOS ) which oversees the J 1 visa program states
that it only has powers to sanction sponsors and not employers. Therefore, unlike the H 2 visa
program, oversight of employers is left to sponsors. Sponsors screen and select visa participants, like
employers in the H 2 visa program, however, here there is an English

RESULTS
A total of 194 patients were symptomatic and had screen detected abnormalities. All of the breast
lesions who underwent ultrasound guided diagnostic procedures were sonographically visible and
were classified according to BI RADS as 3, 4 or 5.
Among 194 patients who underwent needle core biopsy for diagnosis of breast lesions 79 were
reported to be BI RADS 3, 20 were reported to be BI RADS 4 and 32 were reported to be BI RADS 5

History of Cosmetology Essay
History of Cosmetology Nail Care
Cosmetology is the study and application of beauty treatment. Branches of specialty including
hairstyling, skin care, cosmetics, manicures/pedicures, and electrology.
Nail Technology is the art and science of beautifying and improving the nails and skin of the hands
and feet.
The history of nail care reveals some intriguing facts. It was a part of aristocracy and a symbol of
status in ancient times. It was in the nineteenth century that nail care started to become a part of
fashion and glamour. Today nail salons all over the world offer various nail care services and plenty of
nail care products are available for use in home but it still in some way reflects that symbolism of
aristocracy and status. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
History of Nail Care in the Nineteenth Century
With the social and technological developments, new tools for nail care began to emerge in Europe. In
1830 a foot doctor named Sitts invented a wooden manicure tool. Before that metal rod, acid, scissors
etc. were used for manicure. Almond shaped nails or slightly pointed nail styles were popular at that
time.
In 1890 s these trends reached United States. Soon many salons started to offer nail care services to
women. But mostly nail care was a personal thing; women usually took care of their nails by
themselves.
History of nail Care in the Twentieth Century
In the beginning of Twentieth century nail care and nail polish become hugely popular by courtesy of
glamorous Hollywood film stars. New companies were coming in the market with new nail care tools
and techniques. New nail paints and shades arrived together with polish removers, nail protectors and
other tools that made it possible to choose any style at any time and complement the overall dress up
with a matching nail color. At that time manicure was done in barber shops not in beauty salons.
1970 s was the era of artificial nails. These nails looked real, were usually long and worn by the rich.
Soon nail drills were introduced to use on acrylic nails. Nail charms, gold nails as well as nail art were
getting popular. Then French manicure arrived in the market and it was ruled the

that highlighted race and class. In the beginning with the Korean store owner, Bill questioned his

Why Is Shakespeare The Licorice Of Literature
Shakespeare: The Licorice of Literature Shakespeare s works are commonly taught in the American
public education system. For every student who claims they d rather walk on nails or some equally
gruesome alternative to reading Shakespeare, there is another person who claims him to be a literary
god. Its reception among students and the general population is highly polarized, just a the treat,
licorice, is. Whether you detest or adore it, you ve heard of it. Julius Caesar, a unique play about a
unique person, is one of Shakespeare s most revered and critiqued works. The play has been carefully
scrutinized by critics from all of the ages since the release. The responses are broad; from an excellent
drama to one of Shakespeare s weaker works, everyone has an opinion on Julius Caesar.
Ben Jonson, a 17th century poet, wrote an emotional piece serenading Shakespeare in which he ...

However, the play Julius Caesar disappointed him. He claimed it to be cold and unaffecting, compared
with some other of Shakespeare s plays, (Cerasno). The play has been praised for its remarkable
historical accuracy; Shakespeare s probable access to Plutarch s history writings were to thank. Oddly
enough, Samuel Johnson blamed Shakespeare s strict adherence to historical truth for the play s
dramatical lackings. If Shakespeare would have had complete creative freedom without the
restrictions of historical accuracy, then the play would have been more of a success to Samuel
Johnson. Many others in the 17th century thought the complete opposite of this idea.
The play is dramatical excellence and historical truth according to an unnamed critic in the 17th
century. To this critic, the play manages to be both excellent in its entertainment value and in its
historical accuracy (Cerasno). There is little doubt that the play has historical truths, but whether or
not it is an excellent drama, is up to

Human Flaws In The Book Of Genesis
Genesis, the first book of the Hebrew Torah, is for many people a book of innocent stories about the
Creation, and the noble Patriarchs that follow the will of God. However, Genesis has much more to
provide to humankind than stories; whether or not one takes Genesis as history, it does give insight
into the lives and customs of the primeval Jewish people. Fundamentally, the Book of Genesis focuses
on the family. The Book follows the descendants of Adam through the Patriarchs, offering a look into
each family, and the dynamics surrounding them. Genesis, and much of the Torah, are unique in that it
portrays the Lord s chosen not as upright and noble people, but people with deep, distinctly human
flaws, flaws that many families today can relate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the comparison of Genesis monogamous and polygamous relationships, the culture of the
patriarchs valued heirs above all. Whether or not the people of that culture took the concept of a one
man one woman marriage as tradition, or something to be valued, it is clear that the format of a
marriage does not matter when heirs are at stake. Genesis states that Abram was 86 years old when
Hagar bore him Ishmael, meaning Sarah gave Abraham to Hagar after a monogamous marriage of
many decades (16:16) Now, as Sarah obviously felt jealousy, the need for an heir to Abraham s name
bore greater weight than their relationship. As seen in the story of Lot and his daughters, the need for
an heir even drove some to commit incest, an act most likely seen as indecent. The desire for sons is
what partially prompted Leah and Rachel to fight. In addition, the concept of the heir relates to the
repeated use of generations and genealogy chapters in the book, emphasizing Genesis focus on the

Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to...
Natural Gas and Its use as a Alternative Fuel Compared to Gasoline Have you ever confused the terms
Natural Gas and Gasoline ? Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases. Natural gas
and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they were formed
from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago. These sea animals
were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them to become buried
deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into oil and gas. Raw
natural gas is a mixture of different gasses and the main ingredient is methane, a natural compound

They also set off small explosions or drop heavy (Preston, Benjamin I Feel Gassy 5.8.12)
weights on the surface and record the sound waves as they bounce back from the sedimentary rock
layers underground. (www.NEED.org 2011). Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of rock
masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding
Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations
that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing
plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components.
Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or
LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the natural
gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into
LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3
D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help
determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called
Hydraulic fracturing. . This involves the injection of more than a million gallons of water, sand and
chemicals at high pressure, down and across into horizontally drilled wells as far as 10,000

Compare And Contrast Alexander Hamilton And Thomas Jefferson
In the 18th century, the fate of Americas political structure was uncertain. In George Washington s
Farewell Address in 1796, the president advised that the creation of political parties sharpened by the
spirit of retaliation, would inevitably cause long term mistreatment. Despite his words, two of his
closest advisors, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, formed the gatherings that started the
dual party system in which the United States operates today.
Although both men were important in the Revolution and in the establishment of the United States,
they did not coordinate until Washington chose Hamilton to be the Secretary of the Treasury and
Jefferson to be the Secretary of State. From the beginning, the two men harbored ... Show more

He anticipated that Hamilton wanted to move away from the Constitution s republican structure,
toward a legislature molded after the English constitution.
Whenever Jefferson and John Adams pursued the organization in 1796, political gatherings had
encircled under the imprints Republicans and Federalists. By 1804 the presence of political social
events required an amendment that changed the option to allow president/VP tickets on the count. The
Federalists overpowered the national government through most of the eighteenth century. Despite
President Washington s attempts at unity, political differences wound up being unreasonably
significant making it impossible to convey understanding. The Republican Party rose in power and
made limitations to Federalist game plans, regardless of Jefferson s confirmations in his first inaugural
address that Americans were all republicans and all federalists.
The two different visions of assembly of Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton conveyed
understandings of American power and the American people. For Hamilton, America s quality lay in
the business industry. His America was one of delegates, specialists, speculators and banks. His party
anticipated those would help these people battle in an overall business focus. Hamilton was suspicious
of state governments, obliged as they were to slim neighborhood interests.
Jefferson believed the nation s quality lay in its agricultural roots. He bolstered an agrarian nation

In order for a supernatural show to be the best it needs to have some form of forbidden love. One
example of this is in The Vampire Diaries between two characters, Elena Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore.

Living Beneath The Mask Of Toughness Essay

Living Underneath The Mask of Toughness
When I was younger, I would visit my cousins and aunt every single day. My aunt lived in an
apartment and even though it was small, all of my cousins and I would always be together playing.
While my cousin and I were playing with Polly Pockets and doll houses as girls are expected to, I
remember my boy cousin wanting to play with us. He would always love playing with toys and it didn
t matter to him if it was labeled as for a boy or for a girl. As long as he was having fun, he didn t care
what he played with or what color it was. Looking back now, I remember that the minute his step dad
saw him playing with a pink toy or a doll, he would instantly freak out. He would say something like,
Hey that s for girls! or Why are you playing with a girl toy, you faggot! I didn t understand why he
was so against my cousin playing with a toy that wasn t boy ish. It became clear to me that since early
childhood, boys are forced to act more masculine and hide underneath a mask of toughness. Having to
always act tough and hide feelings as boys may lead to them dealing with several consequences
throughout their lives. So, what exactly is masculinity? Masculinity is having qualities appropriate to
or usually associated with a man ( masculinity ). In other words, being masculine is being tough ,
powerful, strong, or acting aggressive as a man. American society socializes

The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th...
During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the
church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned. Amid
these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be known as
the Renaissance period.
In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil servants
rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place and leading
the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope Boniface VII would
lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon.
After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged Phillip
to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was meant to
govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than the royal
court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a
running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope.
After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to
remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popes reigned there until pope Gregory XI
finally returned to Rome.
The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme

We Must Focus On Gay Asian Men
What is gaysian? A gaysian is typically a term used to describe any gay man who is also asian. This
term however does extended to lesbians, but for this essay we will focus on gay asian men. This topic
is very personal to me because I am also a gay asian male. Being gaysian puts one into two very
different minority groups in america, you are both homosexual and asain with each of their own
obstacles and stereotypes attached. With this combination however there are very specific issues that
arise. Gaysain face many challenges and issues in america due to being who they are. In this paper we
will look at the history of these challenges and issues and further analyze them from what we learned
in class.
First off I would like to look at stereotypes which surround gaysians and break them down into their
root parts. As with any group of people, gaysians have their own set of stereotypes that are attached to
their identity. Such stereotypes include being feminine, submissive, haveing small pinieses and being
eternal bottoms. Worst of all there is a common thought that they are always looking for a white man
or sugar daddy. I would first like to analyze and break these stereotypes down. Such stereotypes are
made worse by problematic media representation of gay males from asian cultural backgrounds .
The stereotype of always being feminine goes hand in hand with the demasculinization of all asian
men. The demasculinization of asian men actually goes back to racial profiling and

Pathetic Fallacy In The Media
Learning to Criticize Scholes sets the stage for his argument by examining and describing the three
matrices of video text. The first being visual fascination, a concept we are all too familiar with; the
main reason we believe movies and media can keep our attention longer than a book. He notes how
filters and other other devices cause us to see the world... with more emotion more effectively than
verbal pathetic fallacy... (619). Scholes recognizes the power that visual fascination possesses, he
plainly states that the tactics utilized can even provoke an emotional response, furthering how strong
this matrix is. He goes as far as to mock traditional text calling it pathetic fallacy as a way to display
its inability to be as moving or as engaging as video text. Then Scholes goes on to introduce
narrativity which is powers associated with the reception of stories.. (620) another aspect of video text
that Scholes uses interchangeably with cultural reinforcement; the last matrice. This matrix is
explained as the the process through which video texts confirm viewers in their ideological positions
and reassure them as their membership in a cultural body...an extremely important dimension of all
mass media (620). Cultural reinforcement has the ability to give the audience a sense of belonging
tapping into something far greater than exciting lights or story telling. A person s morals and ethics are
a powerful outlet as Scholes suggests, the most powerful of the three video

Essay On Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong
Lance Armstrong was born September 18, 1971 in Plano, Texas. Armstrong was always athletic and
had quickly discovered that he had a love for triathlons, particularly cycling. By the age of ten he
began running and swimming, and at age thirteen he started competing in cycling and triathlons (Osei
Hwere). By the age of sixteen Lance Armstrong was a professional tri athlete and was the national
sprint course triathlon champion (Osei Hwere). Armstrong chose to focus on cycling because it was
his passion and the event that he was best at. He trained with the U.S. Olympic team in Colorado

Racing, but he also finished with the best ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Lance Armstrong Foundation has raised almost $500 million and has helped more than 2.5
million people dealing with cancer (Osei Hwere).
After Armstrong s struggle with cancer, and his recovery, Armstrong took two years to retrain in order
to return to professional cycling. Two short years after being declared cancer free, Armstrong
participated in the Tour De France, and won. Armstrong would go on to win the next six consecutive
Tour De France races, making him the only participant to hold the honor of winning seven Tour De
France titles in a row (Sanderson). According to the article Riding Along with Lance Armstrong In
June 2012 the U.S. Anti Doping Agency (USADA) filed charges against Armstrong for violating its
performance enhancing drugs (PEDS) policies and claimed to have a growing amount of evidence
against him (Sanderson). Lance Armstrong was a legendary athlete for over a decade. However, in the
end he lost everything due to his decision to participate in unethical activities and use doping to win.
Hidden behind the scenes of exceptional performances Lance Armstrong was committing many
unethical activities. Armstrong used performance enhancing EPO, steroids, growth hormones, and
oxygen boosting blood transfusions (Osei Hwere). Many of these unethical activities can be classified
under the categories of lying, cheating and fraud, and abusive and intimidating behavior. The

Persuasive Essay On Spanking Your Children
Spanking your children
The intentions of any responsible and loving parent is giving their child the best education possible
and the best values that the child may receive. It is evident that the love of a parent lies not only in
indulgence and giving the child the best, but also in raising a complete, mindful, and balanced
personality. Discipline is the cornerstone of the decent education, and it sometimes requires
challenging measures, one of which is corporal punishment, namely, spanking. Many parents today
feel that it is perfectly fine to use spanking as a form of discipline for their children. There is a huge
debate about this topic all over the world. The use of corporal punishment as child discipline is both
ethical and effective. Spanking a child can teach them right from wrong. It is effective to explain to
the child why their behavior was wrong so that they may understand why the spanking was enforced,
however, only implied in a mindful aim for a strong reason.
Spanking as a discipline measure is only effective when resorted to in a right situation. Spanking itself
is bearing a person with moderate physical effort in order to cause the unpleasant feeling or pain.
Clearly, the technical aim of corporate punishment is painful, however, the measure of pain is
supposed to be reasonable. This is the questionable point, how much of the effort the educator or the
parent is supposed to make in order for the punishment to be effective and not to make the negative on
the child s psyche (Straus, 1991, p.142). The controversy of the corporal punishment also lies in the
question whether it is right or wrong. The benefits of spanking is a clear understanding of the child if
he or she breaks the discipline and that is a prevention measure for the repetition of the same kind of
misbehavior. The standpoint, from which spanking is wrong is that it is considered as, in fact, an act of
violence against the child. Spanking is only wrong when the parent or an educator does not mind the
strength of the spanks, which may cause the child to feel intense pain (Lenta, 2015, p.81). Corporal
punishment is only wrong when it goes beyond the reason and grows into domestic violence. The
disciplinary methods, obviously, depend on

Stuck In The Past Lancelot Analysis
Stuck in the Past In various accounts in the Arthurian legends, many characters find themselves
involved in adulterous love affairs. Such sinful encounters with the female characters hinders the
completion of quests, especially for Lancelot. Various texts provide insight on the consequences
Lancelot faces due to infidelity. The view on Lancelot s relationship with the female characters in each
text changes from disapproval to sympathy, reflecting differing literary tastes. Although literature
progresses, the main message behind the legend remains the unchanged: the inability of people to
confront and resolve their sins. Initially, Lancelot s adulterous relationships with various female
characters bring criticisms, questioning the righteousness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In medieval texts, authors focus on a knight s code of chivalry and the preservation of honor. Malory,
a medieval writer, incorporates Lancelot s numerous relationships in his novel to present the problems
of upholding the knightly codes. He brings to attention the expectations loyalty, dignity, and honesty
of a knight in medieval society. Malory reveals the morality and the price for engaging in sinful
events, a message to show society that for every action there is a consequence. In contrast, Victorian
literature focuses on the appreciation of one s past as well as courtly love. Bridges, a Victorian poet,
illustrates the love triangle between King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot. In Lancelot s Vigil,
Bridges exposes Lancelot s sorrowful emotions and utilizes a sad tone to sympathize with him. After
Guinevere s death, Lancelot is seen reminiscing the past, evoking memories of their love. He recalls
Guinevere s beauty, remembering the warmth of her touch and the elegance of her features.
Meanwhile, Guinevere abandons Lancelot by returning to King Arthur s side in the afterlife. Lancelot
must undergo the torture of having his lover buried next to another man. Lancelot s legend changes,
initially portraying his corrupt nature to uncovering his pitiable

Emily Grierson Isolation
William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily is a complicated and controversial tale that, since its publication
in 1930, challenges social norms. The story is about the unfortunate life of an aristocratic woman,
Miss Emily Grierson, whose decrepit demeanor and eccentric behavior make her the town s subject of
scrutiny. After a series of odd events, Miss Emily dies and, upon her death, the townspeople discover
that her seclusion led her to harness the heinous powers of arsenic to murder Homer Barron, the lover
that attempted to desert her. Miss Emily kills Homer Barron because the town s incessant gossiping,
recognition of her gender, and acute awareness of her status create a toxic environment of isolation
that drives her to insanity and, ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she does takes Homer Barron as her lover, the gossip that caused her initial isolation begins
again as some of the ladies [begin] to say that it [is] a disgrace to the town and a bad example to the
young people (Faulkner 520). She is raised knowing that a woman does not take a lover, instead she
marries young, has a family, and behaves like a proper southern woman. Miss Emily is an older
woman who is unmarried, and, during this period of time, engaging in a relationship with a man
deemed unworthy, as well as riding about town with him unaccompanied, is considered taboo. Miss
Emily is never permitted social happiness under the patriarchal system of her small, southern town
and it is her inability to cope with this reality that sends her to insanity. Furthermore, according to
Brooks Jr. and Warren, it is her proud refusal to admit an external [sexist] set of codes, or conventions,
or other wills that contradict her own will, which makes her capable at the end of keeping her lover
from going away (524). Miss Emily does not care that she is setting a poor example for the younger
generation because she wants companionship, and her contempt for the sexist conventions results in
the insanity that, ultimately, causes her to achieve a relationship in the most grotesque

How Is The Song Of Roland Alike
In The Song of Roland, Roland interacts with different people just like someone would today.
Throughout the poem, Roland speaks and interacts with many people, such as his stepfather, king, and
comrade. When he speaks to these three main people, the reader can see many differences but
similarities too. For example, when talking to his friend, they get into a quarrel, just like someone and
their friend would today. In The Song of Roland, Roland interacts with Ganelon, Olivier, and Charles
in many ways, both similar and different. One of the first characters Roland interacts with is his
stepfather, Ganelon. From the beginning it is obvious there is tension between Roland and Ganelon.
Marsilla tells Charles that if he goes to France, he will follow him to Aix and he and his men will
become Christians. Charles asks who they will send to Marsilla, and after being rejected, Roland
volunteers Ganelon, . . . Ganelon, my stepsire, is your / man (276 277). Roland does this out of spite
because he knows, from previous messengers, that there is a chance that Marsilla would kill Ganelon.
Ganelon leaves and tells Marsilla not to do what Charlemagne has asked of him. Marsilla asks how he
can defeat Roland and Ganelon tells him when and where, His nephew will be there, the rich Count
Roland, / and Olivier, whom he relies on so. / They ll have a force of twenty thousand Franks. / Send
out a hundred thousand of your pagans / to make the first assault upon them there. . . . there ll be no
way for Roland to escape (585 589, 593). When Ganelon returns, he finalizes his plan by telling
Charles that if he puts Roland on the rear guard, no one will defeat them. When Roland hears this, he
is prepared but ultimately finds a way to make it about Ganelon s faults. Finally, he tells Charles that
unlike Ganelon, who dropped the glove, he will not fail him. The second character Roland interacts
with is Olivier. Olivier and Roland have a brotherly like relationship due to them growing up together
and training together. When Roland is assembling the twelve men he will take with him to lead the
rear guard, Olivier is the first to join him, Count Roland climbed up on his destrier. AOI / Olivier his
comrade, comes to join him

A Raisin In The Sun A Success
A Raisin in the Sun was first produced in 1959 and brings forth many of the issues which were to
divide American culture during the 1960s. Lorraine Hansberry, the writer, was an unknown figure who
achieved her success when her play became a Broadway hit. Not only were successful young black
women writers were rare at the time, but they were also virtually unheard of. Despite the unpopularity
of colored women writers, the success of A Raisin in the Sun was stunning. Hansberry s ability to
articulate words make her successful and well known across the world. Having the mind and
determination to become successful isn t an easy task. Success isn t considered a gift, it should be a
hard task to achieve and it matters how it is accomplished. Success

Performance Enhancing Drugs (PED).
The effects of the steroids on an athlete s body is a topic that draws controversies and debate as many
people always want to further understand their advantages as opposed to their disadvantages. In the
very basic terms, steroids can have the ability or rather a potential to drastically change the human
body and its various biological functions, which include their ability to remarkably improve the
athletic performance in specific instances. Anabolic steroids just like the testosterone treatment is
known to offer benefits such as increased muscle strength, the users body size and their healing rate
(Liddle, 2013). As it is known, using both scientific documentation and anecdotally, the use of steroids
will increase muscle strength. Recent studies have illustrated the muscle building strengths from the
effects of performance enhancing drugs. Testosterone Enanthate, which happens to be the most
commonly, used or abused form of testosterone was able to increase the bench press strength and also
the cycling performance in a test involving healthy subjects compared to the placebo (Roelands,

Finding Fish
Finding Fish Assignment 1 Barbara Calhoun SWK 358 The book, finding fish, is a poignant
autobiography of the life of Antwone Quenton Fisher, an African American boy who suffered a
tumultuous childhood in a foster care setting. He was born on 8 3 1959 in a Cleveland prison to Eva
Mae Fisher. She was incarcerated for the shooting death of his father, her boyfriend at the time, Eddie
Elkins. Initially, he spent his first few weeks of his life in a Cleveland orphanage. Then he was
fostered by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Nellie Strange. She lovingly cared for him for two years.

American couple who came from southern black heritage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pickett s never missed a Sunday for church and even held a Friday night special service where the
children were made to kneel and pray to find the Holy Ghost. Mrs. Pickett coached them saying Come
on chu ren, yawl gone get the Holy Ghost and ev rything gone be all right with God! (finding fish,
page 52). The church services were very emotional a frenzy, dancing, clapping, stomping their feet,
fanning themselves, breathing in and out with deep sighs, even crying and talking in tongues and
shouting things like Praise the Lawd! Glory! and Hallelujah. (finding fish, pages 51 52). Language is
the second cultural aspect of the Pickett Family in the book. Mrs. Pickett insists that the foster children
refer to her as Mu deah a southern black term of respect for a matriarch, a contraction of mother, dear
(finding fish page 45). This, I believe, was a way for Mrs. Pickett to elevate her stature as the
matriarch of the family. Mrs. Pickett often referred to her foster kids as niggas in a derogatory sense.
In the book she says Niggas, I ll take ya back where I gotcha from. (finding fish page 63). She
continually talks down to the kids, hardly ever using their names to address them. In another instance
in the book she says Which one of you low down niggas put cha pissy night clothes in this here
vacuum?! (finding fish page 69), She uses this manner of conversation due to her southern black
heritage.

  • 2. How Did Roman Music Influence Ancient Greek Culture When a person hears Ancient Greece or Ancient Rome he probably envisions great military battles or grand columns that adorn every structure. However, music, while not as equally honored as the Colosseum, still deserves recognition for playing an integral part in citizens lives during ancient times. While knowledge of ancient Greek and Roman music is limited to fragments of old music scores from the era, literary references, and the actual remains of musical instruments, society will still benefit from studying these rich ancient cultures. Obviously, music from both these civilizations are extremely similar to each other in the role it plays in society and the instruments used due to the influence of ancient Greece on Rome. In both cultures, music played a large role in society. In Ancient Greece, music was essential to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This high regard for music in life stemmed from Greek mythology itself. For example, Amphion learned music from the Greek god Hermes and then with a golden lyre, he built Thebes by moving stones into place with the sound of his playing. There also many references to indicate that music played an important role in the Greek perception of how their race had come into existence and how their destinies were controlled by the Gods. Other artistic forms, such as literature, praise music as well: most of the known Greek poetry and dramas today were sung or accompanied by music in ancient times. Professional musicians were well respected and people who achieved small accomplishments in music were regarded as cultural and tasteful. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. A Short Note On Visa Program Vs. Visa Programs How does the J 1 visa program compare to the H 2 visa program? How do the employer sponsorship requirements, work protections, problems, and litigation trends, and other components of the programs compare? Short Answer The J 1 visa program is very unlike the H 2 visa program in design, oversight, and regulation. The J 1 visa program contains 15 different categories of participants, where some, such as secondary students, are generally not allowed to work. Furthermore, sponsor requirements for the J 1 visa program are not at the employer level, but a level above with so called sponsors. The J 1 program, like the H 2 program does suffer employer abuse in such things as wages and hours, but for different reasons. Unlike the H 2 visa ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The J 1 visa program dwarves the H 2 visa program. For example, in 2013, estimates were that there were 215,866 J 1 visa participants as compared to 74,859 H 2A workers and 94,919 H 2B workers. J 1 visa participants are like H 2 workers in that they lack access to many public benefits and such things as federal funded lawyers. b. Sponsorship and Employer Requirements To qualify as a sponsor for the J 1 visa program, an entity must be a U.S. government entity at any level, an international organization or agency that the U.S. is a member of and have an office in the U.S., or [r]eputable organizations that are United States Persons. To earn a sponsor designation, such entity must: (1) Demonstrate, to the Department of State s satisfaction, its ability to comply and remain in continual compliance with all applicable provisions of this part; (2) Meet at all times its financial obligations and responsibilities attendant to successful sponsorship of its exchange visitor program; and (3) Demonstrate that the organization or its proposed Responsible Officer has no fewer than three years experience in international exchange. The Department of State ( DOS ) which oversees the J 1 visa program states that it only has powers to sanction sponsors and not employers. Therefore, unlike the H 2 visa program, oversight of employers is left to sponsors. Sponsors screen and select visa participants, like employers in the H 2 visa program, however, here there is an English ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a part of aristocracy and a symbol of status in ancient times. It was in the nineteenth century that nail care started to become a part of fashion and glamour. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... History of Nail Care in the Nineteenth Century With the social and technological developments, new tools for nail care began to emerge in Europe. In 1830 a foot doctor named Sitts invented a wooden manicure tool. Before that metal rod, acid, scissors etc. were used for manicure. Almond shaped nails or slightly pointed nail styles were popular at that time. In 1890 s these trends reached United States. Soon many salons started to offer nail care services to women. But mostly nail care was a personal thing; women usually took care of their nails by themselves. History of nail Care in the Twentieth Century In the beginning of Twentieth century nail care and nail polish become hugely popular by courtesy of glamorous Hollywood film stars. New companies were coming in the market with new nail care tools and techniques. New nail paints and shades arrived together with polish removers, nail protectors and other tools that made it possible to choose any style at any time and complement the overall dress up with a matching nail color. At that time manicure was done in barber shops not in beauty salons. 1970 s was the era of artificial nails. These nails looked real, were usually long and worn by the rich. Soon nail drills were introduced to use on acrylic nails. Nail charms, gold nails as well as nail art were getting popular. Then French manicure arrived in the market and it was ruled the ... • 7. Why Is Shakespeare The Licorice Of Literature Shakespeare: The Licorice of Literature Shakespeare s works are commonly taught in the American public education system. For every student who claims they d rather walk on nails or some equally gruesome alternative to reading Shakespeare, there is another person who claims him to be a literary god. Its reception among students and the general population is highly polarized, just a the treat, licorice, is. Whether you detest or adore it, you ve heard of it. Julius Caesar, a unique play about a unique person, is one of Shakespeare s most revered and critiqued works. The play has been carefully scrutinized by critics from all of the ages since the release. The responses are broad; from an excellent drama to one of Shakespeare s weaker works, everyone has an opinion on Julius Caesar. He claimed it to be cold and unaffecting, compared with some other of Shakespeare s plays, (Cerasno). The play has been praised for its remarkable historical accuracy; Shakespeare s probable access to Plutarch s history writings were to thank. Oddly enough, Samuel Johnson blamed Shakespeare s strict adherence to historical truth for the play s dramatical lackings. If Shakespeare would have had complete creative freedom without the restrictions of historical accuracy, then the play would have been more of a success to Samuel Johnson. Many others in the 17th century thought the complete opposite of this idea. The play is dramatical excellence and historical truth according to an unnamed critic in the 17th century. To this critic, the play manages to be both excellent in its entertainment value and in its historical accuracy (Cerasno). • 8. Human Flaws In The Book Of Genesis Genesis, the first book of the Hebrew Torah, is for many people a book of innocent stories about the Creation, and the noble Patriarchs that follow the will of God. However, Genesis has much more to provide to humankind than stories; whether or not one takes Genesis as history, it does give insight into the lives and customs of the primeval Jewish people. Fundamentally, the Book of Genesis focuses on the family. The Book follows the descendants of Adam through the Patriarchs, offering a look into each family, and the dynamics surrounding them. Genesis, and much of the Torah, are unique in that it portrays the Lord s chosen not as upright and noble people, but people with deep, distinctly human flaws, flaws that many families today can relate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the comparison of Genesis monogamous and polygamous relationships, the culture of the patriarchs valued heirs above all. Whether or not the people of that culture took the concept of a one man one woman marriage as tradition, or something to be valued, it is clear that the format of a marriage does not matter when heirs are at stake. Genesis states that Abram was 86 years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael, meaning Sarah gave Abraham to Hagar after a monogamous marriage of many decades (16:16) Now, as Sarah obviously felt jealousy, the need for an heir to Abraham s name bore greater weight than their relationship. As seen in the story of Lot and his daughters, the need for an heir even drove some to commit incest, an act most likely seen as indecent. The desire for sons is what partially prompted Leah and Rachel to fight. In addition, the concept of the heir relates to the repeated use of generations and genealogy chapters in the book, emphasizing Genesis focus on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well don t, because they are two very different types of gases. Natural gas and Gasoline are considered fossil fuels to most scientists because it is believed they were formed from the remains of sea animals and plants that died 200 400 million years ago. These sea animals were then covered by layers of sediment and rock over time which caused them to become buried deeper and deeper, until enormous amounts of pressure and heat turned them into oil and gas. They also set off small explosions or drop heavy (Preston, Benjamin I Feel Gassy 5.8.12) weights on the surface and record the sound waves as they bounce back from the sedimentary rock layers underground. (www.NEED.org 2011). Scientists may also measure the gravitational pull of rock masses deep within the earth, yet the most widely used and effective way of finding Natural gas is by drilling down through the layers of sedimentary rock to reach the rock formations that contain oil and gas deposits. After natural gas comes out of the ground, it goes to a processing plant where it is cleaned of impurities and separated into its various components. Now, the type of natural gas that goes into automobiles is called Liquefied Natural Gas, or LNG. The process for making LNG starts the same way as producing natural gas, except the natural gas is cooled to 260 degrees Fahrenheit. By doing this, the natural gas changes into LNG and its volume is reduced 600 times. Another exceptional way Natural gas is found is by 3 D and 4 D seismic imaging. This technique uses powerful technology from computers to help determine accuracy in whereas to drill. Another technique used to find natural gas is called Hydraulic fracturing. . In George Washington s Farewell Address in 1796, the president advised that the creation of political parties sharpened by the spirit of retaliation, would inevitably cause long term mistreatment. Despite his words, two of his closest advisors, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson, formed the gatherings that started the dual party system in which the United States operates today. • 14. Living Beneath The Mask Of Toughness Essay Jocelyn Vargas Professor Pierstorff English 101, TTH 1 December 2016 Living Underneath The Mask of Toughness When I was younger, I would visit my cousins and aunt every single day. My aunt lived in an apartment and even though it was small, all of my cousins and I would always be together playing. While my cousin and I were playing with Polly Pockets and doll houses as girls are expected to, I remember my boy cousin wanting to play with us. He would always love playing with toys and it didn t matter to him if it was labeled as for a boy or for a girl. As long as he was having fun, he didn t care what he played with or what color it was. Looking back now, I remember that the minute his step dad saw him playing with a pink toy or a doll, he would instantly freak out. He would say something like, Hey that s for girls! or Why are you playing with a girl toy, you faggot! I didn t understand why he was so against my cousin playing with a toy that wasn t boy ish. It became clear to me that since early childhood, boys are forced to act more masculine and hide underneath a mask of toughness. Having to always act tough and hide feelings as boys may lead to them dealing with several consequences throughout their lives. So, what exactly is masculinity? Masculinity is having qualities appropriate to or usually associated with a man ( masculinity ). In other words, being masculine is being tough , powerful, strong, or acting aggressive as a man. • 15. The Contributions Of The Renaissance Period In The 14th... During the 14th century, Europe experienced famine, disease, death and major changes within the church and papacy. Kingdoms consolidated and the influence the Pope held over politics waned. Amid these crises, the people galvanized and made major advancements in what would come to be known as the Renaissance period. In 1301 King Philip IV ruled the Holy Roman empire in southern France. He employed civil servants rather than barons to govern, breaking away from the feudal system that had been in place and leading the county towards centralized administration. A feud between Phillip and Pope Boniface VII would lead to the French control of the papacy when the seat of power was moved to Avignon. After the conviction of a papal legate at the beginning of the century, Pope Boniface VII urged Phillip to give the Papacy jurisdiction over spiritual rule, espousing the notion that the papacy was meant to govern kings and that churchmen were to be held accountable to church courts rather than the royal court. Boniface also asserted that church funds were not to be used for state purposes. This began a running conflict between the King, who wanted total control, and the pope. After the death of Boniface s successor, French pope Clement V was elected. Clement decided to remain in France and held court in Avignon. Seven French popes reigned there until pope Gregory XI finally returned to Rome. The tension between the papacy and the kings of England and France was a recurrent theme ... Being gaysian puts one into two very different minority groups in america, you are both homosexual and asain with each of their own obstacles and stereotypes attached. With this combination however there are very specific issues that arise. Gaysain face many challenges and issues in america due to being who they are. In this paper we will look at the history of these challenges and issues and further analyze them from what we learned in class. First off I would like to look at stereotypes which surround gaysians and break them down into their root parts. As with any group of people, gaysians have their own set of stereotypes that are attached to their identity. Such stereotypes include being feminine, submissive, haveing small pinieses and being eternal bottoms. Worst of all there is a common thought that they are always looking for a white man or sugar daddy. I would first like to analyze and break these stereotypes down. Such stereotypes are made worse by problematic media representation of gay males from asian cultural backgrounds . The stereotype of always being feminine goes hand in hand with the demasculinization of all asian men. The demasculinization of asian men actually goes back to racial profiling and ... The first being visual fascination, a concept we are all too familiar with; the main reason we believe movies and media can keep our attention longer than a book. He notes how filters and other other devices cause us to see the world... with more emotion more effectively than verbal pathetic fallacy... (619). Scholes recognizes the power that visual fascination possesses, he plainly states that the tactics utilized can even provoke an emotional response, furthering how strong this matrix is. Then Scholes goes on to introduce narrativity which is powers associated with the reception of stories.. • 24. Persuasive Essay On Spanking Your Children Spanking your children The intentions of any responsible and loving parent is giving their child the best education possible and the best values that the child may receive. It is evident that the love of a parent lies not only in indulgence and giving the child the best, but also in raising a complete, mindful, and balanced personality. Discipline is the cornerstone of the decent education, and it sometimes requires challenging measures, one of which is corporal punishment, namely, spanking. Many parents today feel that it is perfectly fine to use spanking as a form of discipline for their children. There is a huge debate about this topic all over the world. The use of corporal punishment as child discipline is both ethical and effective. Spanking a child can teach them right from wrong. It is effective to explain to the child why their behavior was wrong so that they may understand why the spanking was enforced, however, only implied in a mindful aim for a strong reason. Spanking as a discipline measure is only effective when resorted to in a right situation. Spanking itself is bearing a person with moderate physical effort in order to cause the unpleasant feeling or pain. Clearly, the technical aim of corporate punishment is painful, however, the measure of pain is supposed to be reasonable. This is the questionable point, how much of the effort the educator or the parent is supposed to make in order for the punishment to be effective and not to make the negative on the child s psyche (Straus, 1991, p.142). The controversy of the corporal punishment also lies in the question whether it is right or wrong. The benefits of spanking is a clear understanding of the child if he or she breaks the discipline and that is a prevention measure for the repetition of the same kind of misbehavior. The standpoint, from which spanking is wrong is that it is considered as, in fact, an act of violence against the child. Spanking is only wrong when the parent or an educator does not mind the strength of the spanks, which may cause the child to feel intense pain (Lenta, 2015, p.81). Corporal punishment is only wrong when it goes beyond the reason and grows into domestic violence. The disciplinary methods, obviously, depend on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. How Is The Song Of Roland Alike In The Song of Roland, Roland interacts with different people just like someone would today. Throughout the poem, Roland speaks and interacts with many people, such as his stepfather, king, and comrade. When he speaks to these three main people, the reader can see many differences but similarities too. For example, when talking to his friend, they get into a quarrel, just like someone and their friend would today. In The Song of Roland, Roland interacts with Ganelon, Olivier, and Charles in many ways, both similar and different. One of the first characters Roland interacts with is his stepfather, Ganelon. From the beginning it is obvious there is tension between Roland and Ganelon. Marsilla tells Charles that if he goes to France, he will follow him to Aix and he and his men will become Christians. Charles asks who they will send to Marsilla, and after being rejected, Roland volunteers Ganelon, . . . Ganelon, my stepsire, is your / man (276 277). Roland does this out of spite because he knows, from previous messengers, that there is a chance that Marsilla would kill Ganelon. Ganelon leaves and tells Marsilla not to do what Charlemagne has asked of him. Marsilla asks how he can defeat Roland and Ganelon tells him when and where, His nephew will be there, the rich Count Roland, / and Olivier, whom he relies on so. / They ll have a force of twenty thousand Franks. / Send out a hundred thousand of your pagans / to make the first assault upon them there. . . . there ll be no way for Roland to escape (585 589, 593). When Ganelon returns, he finalizes his plan by telling Charles that if he puts Roland on the rear guard, no one will defeat them. When Roland hears this, he is prepared but ultimately finds a way to make it about Ganelon s faults. Finally, he tells Charles that unlike Ganelon, who dropped the glove, he will not fail him. The second character Roland interacts with is Olivier. Olivier and Roland have a brotherly like relationship due to them growing up together and training together. When my daughter was born the 60 + hours in the office (not including the late night emails done on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mrs. Pickett coached them saying Come on chu ren, yawl gone get the Holy Ghost and ev rything gone be all right with God! (finding fish, page 52). The church services were very emotional a frenzy, dancing, clapping, stomping their feet, fanning themselves, breathing in and out with deep sighs, even crying and talking in tongues and shouting things like Praise the Lawd! Glory! and Hallelujah. (finding fish, pages 51 52). Language is the second cultural aspect of the Pickett Family in the book. Mrs. Pickett insists that the foster children refer to her as Mu deah a southern black term of respect for a matriarch, a contraction of mother, dear (finding fish page 45). This, I believe, was a way for Mrs. Pickett to elevate her stature as the matriarch of the family. Mrs. Pickett often referred to her foster kids as niggas in a derogatory sense. In the book she says Niggas, I ll take ya back where I gotcha from. (finding fish page 63). She continually talks down to the kids, hardly ever using their names to address them. In another instance in the book she says Which one of you low down niggas put cha pissy night clothes in this here vacuum?! (finding fish page 69), She uses this manner of conversation due to her southern black heritage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
