Drug Testing the Less Fortunate
Should drug testing be a necessity for all state and federal aid programs? Drug testing welfare
recipients have been a major issue across the United States for a few years now. Many indicate that if
working class people are subject to a test prior to hire or randomly during the duration of employment,
why should those that don t have to work for money not have the same treatment? The government
estimated that random annual drug testing for welfare recipients would cost each taxpayer an
additional four thousand dollars per year. They say there is no punishment for failing a drug test, but is
there. The lack of free money, food or health care to me seems like a punishment. I will briefly give a
history of the attempts to reform the public assistance program and the need for drug testing.
In the early 1980 s Congress passed the Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1985 made individuals who have
three or more convictions for certain drug related offenses permanently ineligible for various federal
benefits. In 1996, Congress is when the thought process of drug testing for public assistance started.
However, the years, these programs have been denied repeatedly. At the National Conference of State
Legislatures reported in 2011 thirty six states put forth proposals around drug testing of public aid and
food stamp (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP) recipients; however, only three states
enacted legislation; Azizona, Flordia, and Missouri. In 2012, twenty eight states set

Joseph Smith s Contributions to the Development of Mormons
Mormons were created by Joseph Smith in 1820, when Smith was 14 and lived in New York. During
that time God supposedly came to him and told him not to join any of the churches in his town.
Instead God told Smith to start a new religion that was based on One Lord, One Faith, and One
Baptism . God also said that no other churches were leading and teaching their people the right way,
by God s way. Smith believed that the figure speaking to him was God so he went out and began this
new religion he named Mormon. In 1830, Joseph Smith published The Book of Mormon . Also Smith
began the Latter Day Saints Church in 1830 in Palmyra, New York. Brigham Young was the successor
to Smith and the second President of the Latter Day Saints Church. Ezra Taft Benson was also a friend
of Smith s and a former United States Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower and
thirteenth President of the Latter Day Saints Church. George Albert Smith was the 8th President of the
Mormon Church. At the moment, Thomas S. Monson is the President and he is the 16th President of
the Latter Day Saints Church of Christ. Each President has the assistance of a group of contemporary
apostles. The Church of Latter Day Saints or any other Church of Mormons estimates between eleven
million and twelve million followers. Mormon beliefs are very different from Christian beliefs,
although some are similar. Mormons believe that Jesus was born through sexual union between Mary
and Elohim but Christians

Walt Whitman Influence
There is no question that Walt Whitman had the most significant influence on American literary
history. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American
literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. Whitman s most popular
work Leaves of Grass influenced many future writers that came after him to follow his writing style.
The richness that Leaves of Grass left behind had such a huge impact on American writers of many
different backgrounds and cultures. Whitman s influence can be seen in the works of Ezra Pound,
Langston Hughes, and Sharon Olds.
The influence Walt Whitman had on Ezra Pound is found through Pound s modernist poetic
experiments. At the beginning of Pound s career, he wrote of Whitman, I honor him for he prophesied
me while I can only recognize him as a forebear of whom I ought to be proud (Willard 573). The
following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman:
It was you that broke the new wood,
Now is a time for carving.
We have one sap and one root
Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573).
Pound went on to keep that pact with his many works that include The Cantos, The Condolence, and
To Whistler, American. Like in the 1855 version of Leaves of Grass, Whitman gave a descriptive
image of him in a working dress and large hat, arms akimbo, standing at his ease, this is also matched
by the descriptive image in Pound s Pavannes and Divisions (Willard 573). Whitman

Mabo Case
Legal studies Law Reform
Legal studies Law Reform
The Australian Legal System response to the Mabo case has changed greatly ever since the first time it
was introduced. Many different acts were introduced and/or amended as a result of this case. The
effectiveness of the law and the law reform in protecting the rights of individual and society at large is
demonstrated throughout this essay.
Eddie Koiki Mabo was born on Murray Island in 1936 and was an Indigenous Australian. In 1974,
during a conversation with two academics, Mabo became aware to the fact that his family did not own
their traditional lands and that it was, in law, owned by the Crown. The Queensland Government
wanted to remove any doubt that the Meriam people had total ... Show more content on

The Mabo decision ended the idea of terra nullius in relation to Australia, when it recognised the
Meriam people as the owners of the Murray Islands. It also opened the door for other Indigenous
groups to be able to claim ownership of land that they could prove a continuous connection with.
Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic
high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it
completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even
though the land had been taken by the Crown. With Terra Nullius distinguished, it proved the point
that Murray Islands first inhabitants were in fact the Meriam people.
With the Mabo case being successful many other cases came about for example Wik Peoples v. The
State of Queensland (also known as the Wik Decision). It is a decision of the High Court of Australia
in December 1996, regarding the right of access by the Wik peoples of Cape York Peninsula in North
Queensland to Crown land held under pastoral leases for cattle grazing. The court decided (4 judges to
3) that the rights of indigenous people who can prove a connection to the land can coexist with the
rights of the pastoralists, but where there is any inconsistency between the two, the rights of the
pastoralist will prevail. In other words, pastoral leases do not automatically

Reflection
Primary Introduction and Reflection
The purpose of this, my reflective essay, is to consider the journey I have taken to develop and create
both the research story task and the story task. In the first task I was tasked to do an in depth research
on a topic that was trending or perceived as popular with a wide and varied audience. Accordingly,
this would be a topic that could be seen to span a range of Social Media and established news sources.
Then, in the second task, I was required to create a well structured article based on the topic and
crafted to meet the well established journalistic standards of an established periodical, such as Time
magazine. I now regret not adding an image to both support and establish the storyline. If ... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Searching for information that related to my chosen topic proved to be problematic as many data
algorithms were pre set to my previous searches, which created a narrower search result than I had
hoped for.
Accordingly the objective and purpose of writing an article on a cashless society was to examine the
history behind it, how it would be structured and how it would affect those marginalised within
society at various levels. Consequently, I now realise that, to create credible newsworthy articles, I
will need to research a wider range of academic documents and streaming news reports. I will also
need to continue to refine my writing ability so as to fluently convey my message to a discerning, well
read and educated audience.
Evaluation and Analysis
My primary objective in investing a Cashless Society was to explore the impact it could have on those
marginalised within our culture. I had mistakenly used a limited set of trend analysis paradigms to
search and track what I was looking for. If I had used a wider range of browsers and search engines
may have provided a greater diversity of credible data. Relying on basic search algorithms does have
its merits, but can also create limited search results due to inherit limitations in the calculations used.
Using a Linear Search Algorithm meant that I was only able to create a short list of possible compiled
data collections.

Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird
In the poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou about freedom, emotions, feelings, and depression. In the
poem she wrote A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends
and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky (1 5). There is nothing for the bird
to do anything better than freedom. Because any cages, even the gold, can be captive. It s meant, like a
beautiful girl, who doesn t think about love, but she is thinking only about money and when she got it,
and she married, she cannot be happy in the huge house, with gold furniture, big pool, expensive cars
and without love because this girl just a doll for her husband. She lives in the gold cage without
freedom. First, there is no other bird next to anyone, and with no one to bet on the song. Secondly, the
bird will not be able to spread wings its wide and fly far. Thirdly, independence, life and destiny are
completely lost in the hands of the owner of the cage. There is such a state of the human soul when
one wants to live and love, to fly to heaven, to laugh and sing, and to give his joy to all who are near.
Such a feeling is called happiness. But, apparently, no one can give an accurate definition of this
concept, as no one has yet to determine exactly what is happiness. Some people are trying to be happy
and from time immemorial trying to figure out how to achieve it. The fact is that happiness is different
for each person, depending on the personality of the person. And this, in turn, depends on education,
environment, living conditions and many other factors. However at the poem But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage, his wings are clipped and his feet are
tied so he opens his throat to sing (10) Actually for me, all my life was a cage has been about getting
an education. My dream was attend a medical university. I graduated high school in Ukraine and after
school, I got married and I didn t have the choice to study. My mom said at that time, I have money
only on one event wedding or university , my choice was a wedding because my husband didn t want
me to wait so long because he was almost thirty and I was only seventeen. He was scared to lose

Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Essay
Clotilde Terranova was one of the 146 victims of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. The Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a fire on the top three floors of the Asch Building in Brooklyn, New York.
No one knows the real cause of the fire. Most believe it started when someone tossed a burning
cigarette bud into the scrap bin on the eighth floor. The building itself was fireproof, but there was so
many flammable things inside the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Terranova was on
the tenth floor during the fire. She was the only death among the approximately seventy workers on
the tenth floor. When Clotilde Terranova first immigrated to America from Italy, she was 19 years old.
She went to visit her sister in Brooklyn, New York. Three years later, Terranova had been a working as
a garment worker on the tenth floor of the Asch Building. She did not know she would have been one
of the victims of one of the deadliest industrial fires in the United States. ... Show more content on

idea that she could have survived the fire. They say she ran from window to window, and before
anyone could stop her, she jumped out. She saw the fire blazing up from the ninth floor and was so

A Ponzi Scheme Essay
A Ponzi scheme is defined by the SEC as investment fraud, that incorporates remuneration of
professed returns to old investors from funds contributed by new investors. It could be thought of as a
systematic process, requiring consistent fraudulent action and deceitfulness. Usually Ponzi schemes
are generally short in length, but Madoff s lasted for almost 30 years. In simpler terms, a Ponzi
scheme is built upon the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul, when in essence no real investment is made
(Moaf.org). A Ponzi scheme promoter attempts to appeal to new investors by promising high returns
with little to no risk involved. The new money obtained from the unfortunate and hopeful investors is
then disbursed to it s earlier constituents, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the Museum of American Finance, Charles Ponzi would bestow dividends from his notes
to earlier investors with funds accrued from subsequent investors. Of course, then the subsequent
investors required a pay out, creating the necessity of Ponzi to acquire more investors to cover his
more recent accumulated liabilities.
As with most Ponzi schemes scheme, the more inflated the necessary returns grew the closer to self
destruction the scheme becomes. Ponzi had to come up with a credible investment postulation. He
claimed to be involved with a profit yielding arbitrage of purchasing international postal reply
coupons (IRC) in other countries and then exchanges them at face value in the United States, therefore
making a profit. Arbitrage consists of acquiring an asset in a particular market at a discount and then
subsequently selling the same asset in a different market for a higher price, thereby making a profit off
the transaction (SEC.gov). It wasn t until Clarence Barron reported, 160 million international postal
reply coupons would be needed to cover Ponzi s investments and only 27,000 were in circulation
(Fraudnewsamerica.com).
Just as Charles Ponzi s scheme operated, the essence of Bernard Madoff s Ponzi scheme was quite
similar. Madoff s scheme consisted of generating returns for its investors, by way of cash deposits
compiled from its new investors. As long as new investments were consistently made, the Ponzi
scheme can continue to operate and

How Did Edgar Allan Poe Impact On Poetry
Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe began his career as a poet, and collected or corrected poems throughout his career. A
quality of enjoyable sounds can be found in poems that readers also consider serious. However, these
elements can also exist with themes that are more typical of the Romantic Movement, such as dreams
and nightmares Poe handled this through images designed to show undecided states of awareness
represented as lakes, seas, waves, and vapors.
Nearly all Poe s criticism on poetry was written for the magazines for which he worked. Although the
pieces were published occasionally, they reflect a remarkably logical, self conscious view of poetry
and of the creative process. Poe wrote quot; The Philosophy of Composition quot; to ... Show more

Although it has exaggerated effects and flaws, quot; The Raven quot; which was written in 1845 is Poe
s best known poem and one of the most famous works in American literature. It treats his favorite
theme, the death of a beautiful woman. This theme also appears in quot; The Sleeper quot; written in
1841 and quot;Ulalume quot; written in 1847. In all three poems, Poe chose detailed musical effects.
Poe believed his art should be looked at internationally, rather than nationally or regionally. He was
usually known at the time with the South. He did not defend his region s politics or social customs,
like other southern writers. His lyricism was common to southern poets. Raised in Virginia, Poe
sometimes was looked at as the southern gentleman, even if they see excelling regionalism in his
work.
Among Poe s poetic output, about a dozen poems are remarkable for their perfect literary construction
and for their haunting themes and sections. In The Raven, which was written in 1845, the narrator is
weighed down by depressions of death. Poe s unexpected handling of rhythm and sound is particularly
shown in The Bells which was written in 1849 which was a poem that seems to repeat with the ringing
of sharp instruments, and The Sleeper which was written in 1831, which copies the state of
drowsiness. Lenore, which was written in 1831, and Annabel Lee, which was written in 1849, are
verse expressions of the death of a beautiful

Native American Beliefs And Beliefs
Native American Religions and Cultures in the Midwest
[Thesis]
Native American religions in the Midwest shaped the way for their tribes to grow their religions
opened up many opportunities to create alliances but also start wars. The culture that was introduced
by their religions help them and help us understand more about the time and place they were in; The
people of these tribes are still affected dearly by these religions so much that they are still followed till
this day.
[History and Story]
The history and lore of the Sioux tribes religion are quite interesting. They had massive birds called
Thunder birds they came down when there was or right before a storm and would swoop up small
children and animals; Or there was the White Buffalo Woman who gave each tribe a medicine pipe
that allowed the medicine man that was the tribe s head religious figure communicate with spirits for
guidance and to find a small glimpse of the future. These are the things that make the Sioux religion
exotic, but understandable with logical reasons for their beliefs. I m now going to briefly go over

The Today s Soccer Big West Conference Championship Game...
The live sporting event that I chose to observe was the 2015 Woman s Soccer Big West Conference
championship game with Cal State Fullerton competing against Cal State Long Beach. The game took
place on Sunday, November 8th at 1:00pm at Cal State Fullerton. This game is significant because it
determines who wins the Big West and who qualifies for the NCAA tournament, so pressure on the
players and intensity are very high. Throughout the game, I observed the game as a sport psychologist
professional and observed the player s and coach s behaviors that relate to Sport Psychology. The
three sport psychology concepts that were interpreted during the soccer match were: situational
awareness, arousal regulation strategies, and reinforcements.
One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The player s situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where
each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus
moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when
the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted
score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then
reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was
making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good
situational awareness, always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else. The goalie
was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in
this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make
the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second
concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation
strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or decrease arousal levels of a
person (Weinberg Gould, 2011). It is crucial for athletes to be aware of their psychological states so
they can

October 1, 2017 Dear Elder, The purpose of writing this paper was, to explain how vampires, have
been influenced by Bram Stroker s Dracula novel. As well how Dracula and vampires have influenced
the Victorian era and gothic genre. The process that this paper and I have gone through, was a
mesmerizing one. I ve learned so much more about vampires and why they were created in the
Victorian era. As well the impact that the original Dracula had back then and now. The difficult part of
this journey was the choosing of the prompt. I wanted to challenge myself, so I chose prompt 3, and it

appreciate that, my paper be checked again, just to know where else I can improve on more. Overall
this experience was an amazing one, and I hope to keep continuing writing in general, in order to
improve my English. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Bullet In The Brain Analysis
The evaluation of the short novel, Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff was quite an interesting subject
matter when it comes to the understanding of one s true experience with the phrase My life flashed
before my eyes . In this novel, Wolff tells a story about a man named Anders who experiences
forgotten memories in his life and realizes what he once was and what he turned out to be in the end.
Wolff s interpretation of memory in this novel made a unique remark and left a deep understanding on
how someone could easily change in life without them even noticing. Throughout the course of this
story, Wolff takes you to Anders short remainder of time in life and what psychological adventure he
experiences in this short amount of time. This novel by Tobias Wolff shows a great deal of elements
that one novel should need at all times. Bullet in the Brain takes place in a bank where the main
character of the story, Anders, goes to right before they closes because he was apparently pretty
preoccupied in his life. He comes in and since it was right before it was closing time, a great deal of
people are in line to do their own business at the same time as him. Anders has an unfortunate luck as
he goes in line right behind two annoying and loud women who was having a, according to Wolff,
stupid conversation. As time progresses, the bank meets an unfortunate event by having two robbers

Emancipation from Damaging Early Years
While mental and emotional factors are important, the physical factors are just as key in emancipating
yourself from damaging early years. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs
were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create
unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more
difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction.
Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can
make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a
young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their
parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends,
her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic
situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live
a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a
triumphant adulthood. In this modern day and age, education is stressed at a very young age. From the
first day of kindergarten, we are taught how to read and write so we can learn bigger and better things.

Code Of Justice By Stephen Glass Summary
Stephen Glass has a degree in law from Georgetown University Law Center but he may never practice
law in the United States ever. Glass has passed the bar exam in New York and California, both states
have denied him admission to the Bar. Glass removed his application to become licensed in New York
and the California Supreme Court decided he lacked the good moral character to be a lawyer. Lacking
morality in any profession is unacceptable because it proves one cannot make proper ethical decisions.
Glass was a great writer with a very vivid imagination, but he was not a fiction writer he was a news
media writer for a magazine that was nonfiction.
SEEK TRUTH AND REPORT The first and most important principle in the Society of Professional
Journalists Code of Ethics is to seek truth and report it. Glass violated this principle in every way that

The Law Of Unfair Terms Of Consumer Contracts
The law of unfair terms in consumer contracts have experienced changes over the years, the most
significant of which was the Consumer Rights Act which came into effect on October 1st 2015.
However, before the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (CRA 2015), unfair terms in consumer contracts were
covered under two pieces of legislation; the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977(UCTA 1977) and the
Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 (UTCCR 1999) . The UCTA 1977 and
UTCCR 1999 provided liability for transactions occurring in the course of a business as well as
business and consumer contracts. Both UCTA 1977 and UTCCR 1999 provided protection for
consumers from terms in a contract so as to prevent them from being at a disadvantage for not read

The Corruption Of Cairns Police Essay
Few doubted the ubiquitous corruption of Cairns police in the early years of the 20th century, with the
local cops so notoriously crooked that even newspapers in far off Brisbane reported on their
transgressions.
When lawyer Percy Le Vaux represented property owner Peter Lumberg in an action against a watch
house constable for filching his watch during Lumberg s overnight incarceration, the Brisbane Truth
saw light at the end of the tunnel, believing this spark would ignite the fire that brought the entire
criminal edifice tumbling down. So it has come, at last, announced the paper. However, a magistrate
dismissed the charge, and nothing changed.
Undeterred, Truth continued to publish veiled allegations that the police took bribes from criminal
overlords whose Sachs St enterprises included illegal gambling, sly grog shops, opium dens and
whore houses. So, intent on quietening the annoying journalists, the Police Commissioner transferred
north Inspector Herbert Rowland Pasley Durham, a senior officer of impeccable credentials, but again,
nothing changed.

On that date, a different inspector, the Inspector of Nuisances, discovered the aforementioned

Everyman Character Analysis
In today s society, there are many views concerning how to obtain a right relationship with God.
Considering the context of the late fifteenth century morality play Everyman, it seems that different
views have been around for quite some time now. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that they
have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This appears
to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality play, the
author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have throughout their
life. Through this unique expression, many characters are introduced that show man s desire. In the
end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only after he realizes that
everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters are introduced. What is
unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have individual personalities. Everyman
and God are the only main characters that are not just moral personalities. Death is one of the first on
the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91).
Everyman appears to be confused as to why death would be sent to him. Shortly after this, death states
to everyman For before God thou shalt answer, and show thy many bad deeds, and good but a few
(Everyman line 107 108). This demonstrates that the author views a time of

History Of Desert Storm
In the early morning hours of January 18, 1991, the first PATRIOT missile engaged an Iraqi ballistic
missile, changing the future of United States Air Defense Artillery. Throughout the initial days of
Desert Storm, United States PATRIOT batteries defended the countries of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and
Israel from a barrage of Iraqi ballistic missile. This began and solidified United States alliances with
Middle Eastern countries that remain to this day. Looking at the era surrounding Desert Storm, one
can see the accelerated development of PATRIOT and US Air Defense through failures, successes, and
lessons learned. During the Iraq / Iran War, with United States support, the Iraqi military became the
4th largest military in the world. Prior to Desert Storm, the Iraqi government coveted the vast oil fields
of neighboring Kuwait. Iraqi soldiers crossed the Iraqi / Kuwait border on 2 August 1990, immediately
receiving international condemnation for their actions. President George H.W. Bush expressed in his

The Government And Its Effects On The Minority Report By...
The government plays a major role in dystopic stories and novels, and as these stories start to unfold,
one can see the flaws in which how government works and how if effects the rest of society. In the
Minority Report, written by Philip K. Dick, the mechanisms of the government s systems begins to
show different flaws when surveillance is use to determine the pre crime of major crimes, and what
happens to their citizens once a verdict is reached. Any type of Government surveillance can do more
harm than good, due to the fact they invade the privacy of the people, in some cases resulting in giving
innocent people unfair and unlawful punishments, and also because it can fail to protect and create an
aspect of fear among their citizens.
In The Minority Report, Philip K. Dick creates a government that can make an arrest with the
assumption that their suspect is guilty, without taking into consideration that there was a minority
report, which is the chance that their suspect is innocent. The people of this society had begun to see
how this system is corrupt, and the coming to the point of how, If no arrests were made, there would
still have been no crimes committed. As people see the chances of innocent citizens being arrested for
no crime, they begin to think, how many murders would actually take place, and how many people
would be falsely accused. When the flaw of arresting innocent people is first drawn to attention, it is

Essay On Three Point Bending
Tests like three point bending can be used to evaluate the properties of the entire specimen as a
structure, so it is important to understand the mechanical response when there is an applied load to the
composite structure. It will be a lot easier to understand for homogeneous materials, since they
respond in the same behavior when loaded in different orientations. However, when dealing with
composite material, the anisotropy created by the orientations of reinforcing fibers for each ply has to
be taken into account. Such kind of material response and structure needs an orthotropic material
model coupled with an assumption of plane stress. The stiffness along the fiber axis and perpendicular
to the fiber axis as well as the Poisson s ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stress strain relationship of the material can be determined through this process. And properties
like ultimate tensile strain, tensile modulus of elasticity, Poisson s ratio can be obtained. Measurement
of shear modulus is also necessary. Two methods are reviewed for obtaining shear modulus: the
Iosipescu shear test [15] and V notch rail shear test [16]. Both of these tests have a rectangular
specimen with notches cut in order to concentrate shear stress at the neck. It is how the specimen is
loaded differentiates these two tests. The Iosipescu method utilizes a special equipment which loads
the specimen along its edges by exerting compressive force. The V Notched rail shear method uses
another specialized fixture to grip the faces of the specimens and shears the specimen in tension.
These two methods apply different forces in different locations of the composite specimen, therefore,
it is reasonable to expect that each of the two approaches can give slightly different shear modulus.
Yan lei et al. evaluated these two methods in his study [17]. Although the Iosipescu shear specimens
can give good results, he claims that edge crushing can be an issue due to the way the specimen is
loaded into the fixture. And V notched rail shear method can get rid of such unacceptable failure and it
uses a larger gauge section, so this method has more

Symbolism In The Scarlet Ibis, By James Hurst
When you see a storm, a tree, or the color red how does it make you feel? The Scarlet Ibis, written by
James Hurst, is about a brothers bond and his pride that pushes his brother until death. The narrator s
brother, Doodle, has a heart condition which makes him physically delayed. The narrator doesn t want
a disabled brother so he nicknames him Doodle because you can t expect much from a disabled person
in 1918. He was also ashamed that he had a brother that couldn t walk, therefore he decided to teach
him even though the doctor said he shouldn t do anything to push his heart. A bird called a scarlet ibis
plays an important part that develops symbolism in the story. The scarlet ibis and Doodle have many
things in common that brings the story together.
Both Doodle and the Scarlet Ibis died during a storm near a grand tree which symbolises danger and
sadness while the tree shows life. In addition the color red is an important warning sign throughout the
story. According to the story, It s a scarlet ibis, he said, pointing to a picture. It lives in the tropics
South America to Florida. A storm must have brought it here (Hurst l. 311 313). The scarlet ibis was in
danger and pushed out of its natural habitat due to the storm. The bird was most likely physically
exhausted and this led to its death. He also states, Sadly, we all looked back at the bird. A scarlet ibis!
How many miles it had traveled to die like this, in our yard, beneath the bleeding tree (Hurst l. 314

How Anti Forensic Tools Work As Well As Looking At The...
1. Introduction The aim of this report is to investigate where and how anti forensic tools work as well
as looking at the challenges forensic investigators are faced when such tools are used. After anti
forensic tools are used certain artefacts will be left behind, this report will also cover the procedures
and difficulties when trying to uncover these artefacts as well as the tools used to find them. Anti
Forensic (AF) techniques are the actions which are aimed to prevent forensic investigators analysing
the case effectively since the AF tools are used to reduce or the quantity and quality of useful
information. Anti forensics is yet to have its own definition however this is expected as it is still a
relatively unexplored field despite the fact cybercrime levels are growing every day. There have been
several AF definitions defined however these definitions only focus on certain parts of anti forensics.
Peron and Legary came to a definition which I feel fits which is limit the identification, collection,
collation and validation of electronic data. (Peron and Legary, 2005). Data hiding is a commonly used
AF technique which is defined as the art of hiding the fact that communication is taking place, by the
hiding of information in other information (Tyagi, 2012, p.120). Data is hiding is used to essentially
removing data from view so it is far less likely to be uncovered meaning that it won t be used in the
forensic investigation. The evidence will not be changed or

Dogs Are The Better Pet Over Dogs
More people in the US own cats than they do dogs. In the US, 95.6 million people own cats compared
to the 83.3 million who own dogs ( Pets by the Numbers ). 12.3 million more people own felines than
they do canines. There are a few explanations why felines are favored over canines in the US. Felines
are the superior pet over canines by population because cats cost the owner less money than dogs do,
they do not need too much for their maintenance, they do not depend the owner as much as dogs do,
and are usually healthier and have a longer life span.
The first reason why cats are the better pet over dogs is because cats cost less to maintain as far as
yearly and medical costs. The yearly cost for cats is around $450 which is significantly different from
the $660 yearly cost for a dogs ( Cat vs Dog ). Bottom line, dogs are one and a half times more costly
than the typical yearly cost for a cat. Nevertheless, there is an even greater price percentage for
medical bills when we relate these two animals. The average medical fee for a cat is only $160 a year.
Whereas, a dogs fee can be $290 a year or more ( Cat vs Dog ). There is a substantial variance in cost
when comparing dogs and cats. Studies, have shown that no matter which way they look at it, cats are
cheaper.
Cats aren t better just because they have lower yearly costs and medical fees, but also because cats do
not need as much maintenance as dogs do. Both need love from the owner, but apart from love, they

The American Association Of University Women
Throughout the history of the world, discrimination in all forms has been a constant battle; whether its
race, gender, religion, beliefs, appearance or anything else that makes one person different from
another, it s happening every day. One significant discrimination problem the world population is
battling, takes place in the work place. Women, who are as equally trained and educated, and with the
same experience as men are not getting equal pay, The American Association of University Women is
releasing a new study that shows when men and women attend the same kind of college, pick the same
major and accept the same kind of job, on average, the woman will still earn 82 cents to every dollar
that a man earns (Coleman). This form of inequality dates back for centuries and stems from the
common belief that since men provide for women and women take care of the home and children,
men therefore are more efficient in the career chosen. This is also known as systemic discrimination.
Now in modern times, the realization that man and woman can produce the same results, have the
same education, and have the same capacity to accomplish the same overall tasks as men is becoming
more popular, especially as the prevalent thought of women as not as valuable as men is constantly
being proven to be incorrect.

Advantages Of The Maghrib
The modernization of the Maghrib was not beneficial to the culture and modernization of North
Africa. Although there were benefits relating to the architectural upgrades and the spread of ideas
about politics and the modern world, the forcing of the French culture, division between religions, and
the external French motivations were overall not beneficial. The Maghrib is a section of North Africa
that includes Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and sometimes parts of Libya. Specifically, Algeria was very
important to this region as well as the French who tried to colonize and modernize this region. Along
with Tunisia, whose impacts from the French are shown through the travels and experiences of Khayr
al Din. Ever since the beginning of the French colonization efforts, the natives of the Maghrib were
weary of the concept. The French true motivations are evidenced through their new implementation of
laws, cultural integration, and disregard for the religious groups of the region.
Originally, the Maghrib architecture was distinctly North African, simple in design, and including
ornate mosques. Fez is a grand example of the architecture region and all that it has to offer. The
mallah section of Fez involves a lot of traditional North African architecture along with Jewish
cultural influences. Although the architecture in this region was stunningly beautiful, when the French
came in they upgraded a lot of buildings and public areas. Consequently, the region has a gorgeous
mix of French colonial and native architecture. A great example of this resides in a town square where
there is a mosque in the center and beautiful French colonial architecture surrounding the rest of the
square in Algeria. The French influenced architecture as small as the lamp posts and as big as the
grand, efficient highways. Due to this, the roadways and general design and architecture of the region
was an incredible blend of ancient North African and modern French architecture.
The French did not try to fully push their ideas upon the natives of the Maghrib, but instead brought
their ideas with them and let the ideas assimilate with the natives to the degree the natives allowed it
to. As stated in the Colonial Mythologies article, the idea was

Character Analysis Of Black Swan
In the film, Black Swan, the plot centers on Nina Sayers, a ballerina whose only goal is to play the
role of the Black and White Swan in her company s production of Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake ballet.
While she easily embodies into the innocence and grace of the White Swan, her shy and fragile
personality does not fit the seductiveness and mysteriousness of the Black Swan. As a result, she
struggles to become the opposite of who she is, worsening her issues with depression and anorexia. In
the beginning of the film, Nina was depicted as an average, normal person living in New York that yet
lacked the freedom to express herself as a sexually free, young woman due to her mother s controlling
behavior. When she wins the coveted Swan Queen role, the feeling of immense pressure that comes
with the role causes Nina to lose her tenuous grip on reality and descend into a living nightmare. For
example, she experiences symptoms such as interpreting normal behavior from Lily as an attack
because of Nina s jealousy toward Lily s effortless embodiment of the Black Swan (Schacter, Gilbert,
Wegner, Nock, 2014). Nina s attention to negative behavior to Lily is a result of her own imagination
she starts conceiving events that did not happen such as a lesbian fling with Lily and her constant
attempts to sabotage Nina s ability to perform as the Swan Queen. In addition, she suffers through
hallucinatory episodes that involve bodily horror, such as her skin tearing off her body and the
appearance of an evil twin, every time she reaches a step closer to her full transformation of the Swan
Queen. In addition, she has developed an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa to meet the standard
body image required for dancers. While her loss of appetite only becomes worse as the film
progresses, this issue seems to have existed before the events of the Swan Lake production.
Ultimately, Nina becomes so trapped in the world of Swan Lake that she forgets about the real world
and truly becomes both the White Swan and Black Swan. However, her mind is unable to harbor both
forces on a physical and psychological level, and as a result, she unconsciously chooses to commit
suicide. Natalie Portman s portrayal of Nina s depression and anorexia

Summary Of Andre Dubus III s House Of Sand And Fog
Andre Dubus III s House of Sand and Fog House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, explores the
catastrophic repercussions of a complex misunderstanding between three characters. The conflict
initially involves a dispute between Kathy Nicolo and Massoud Behrani over the rightful ownership of
a house. The county wrongfully evicts Kathy and Behrani then buys her house at an auction. When
Deputy Sheriff Lester Burdon enters the situation, events quickly slip out of control. Superficially,
Lester s character is important to the novel because he acts as a catalyst, propelling the plot into
unexpected action. But Lester impacts the novel in a more profound way, because were it not for his
insecurity and selfishness, the rest of the characters could have been spared an avoidable tragedy.
Lester s commitment to help Kathy at all costs undeniably alters the outcome of the novel. By
providing her with money for a motel, and later with shelter at a friend s cabin, he allows her to
continue avoiding the reality of the situation. If Lester had never met Kathy, she would have been
forced to be upfront with her lawyer. Instead, Kathy tells herself there a limit to how much [her
lawyer] wants to help, and continues to tell Connie Walsh that she is staying with friends (88).
Knowing the severity of Kathy s plight could have prompted Connie Walsh to more ardently pursue
the county on Kathy s behalf. Because of Lester, however, the truth is kept from the lawyer.

The purpose of my research paper will be to inform the reader with statistical and factual analysis
encompassing Incentives and reward based programs. We will evaluate various incentives to see if this
macroeconomic incentivized/rewards based process does indeed drive business and generate more
growth amongst companies via rewards and loyalty programs towards the general population of
consumers. This analysis surrounding incentives will also be comprised of the price and demand
structures to tie into how companies also utilize their rewards, customer loyalty plans and coupons
during different times of the seasons to boost sales and establish a bond with the ones they are selling
to, the consumers.
U.S. consumers hold 3.3 billion memberships in customer loyalty programs, the 2015 COLLOQUY
Loyalty Census shows, a 26% increase over the number of memberships reported in COLLOQUY s
last census study in 2013 (Colloquy, 2015) With loyalty programs established this helps to generate a
repeat customers which drives profits and promises future revenue. Consumers need an incentive to
purchase a product at a certain place. When Loyalty programs are in place it helps the consumer relate
to the product and funnels them towards the product in which they feel that they are apart of. They can
build exclusive points and incentives when products are purchased and are then able to use those
rewards points at a later time to purchase more goods or even get a portion of the cash back.

  • 2. Drug Testing the Less Fortunate Should drug testing be a necessity for all state and federal aid programs? Drug testing welfare recipients have been a major issue across the United States for a few years now. Many indicate that if working class people are subject to a test prior to hire or randomly during the duration of employment, why should those that don t have to work for money not have the same treatment? The government estimated that random annual drug testing for welfare recipients would cost each taxpayer an additional four thousand dollars per year. They say there is no punishment for failing a drug test, but is there. The lack of free money, food or health care to me seems like a punishment. I will briefly give a history of the attempts to reform the public assistance program and the need for drug testing. In the early 1980 s Congress passed the Anti Drug Abuse Act of 1985 made individuals who have three or more convictions for certain drug related offenses permanently ineligible for various federal benefits. In 1996, Congress is when the thought process of drug testing for public assistance started. However, the years, these programs have been denied repeatedly. At the National Conference of State Legislatures reported in 2011 thirty six states put forth proposals around drug testing of public aid and food stamp (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program SNAP) recipients; however, only three states enacted legislation; Azizona, Flordia, and Missouri. In 2012, twenty eight states set ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Joseph Smith s Contributions to the Development of Mormons Mormons were created by Joseph Smith in 1820, when Smith was 14 and lived in New York. During that time God supposedly came to him and told him not to join any of the churches in his town. Instead God told Smith to start a new religion that was based on One Lord, One Faith, and One Baptism . God also said that no other churches were leading and teaching their people the right way, by God s way. Smith believed that the figure speaking to him was God so he went out and began this new religion he named Mormon. In 1830, Joseph Smith published The Book of Mormon . Also Smith began the Latter Day Saints Church in 1830 in Palmyra, New York. Brigham Young was the successor to Smith and the second President of the Latter Day Saints Church. Ezra Taft Benson was also a friend of Smith s and a former United States Secretary of Agriculture under President Eisenhower and thirteenth President of the Latter Day Saints Church. George Albert Smith was the 8th President of the Mormon Church. At the moment, Thomas S. Monson is the President and he is the 16th President of the Latter Day Saints Church of Christ. Each President has the assistance of a group of contemporary apostles. The Church of Latter Day Saints or any other Church of Mormons estimates between eleven million and twelve million followers. Mormon beliefs are very different from Christian beliefs, although some are similar. Mormons believe that Jesus was born through sexual union between Mary and Elohim but Christians ... • 4. Walt Whitman Influence There is no question that Walt Whitman had the most significant influence on American literary history. Along with Emily Dickinson, Whitman represented the Romantic literature era of American literature. Whitman is known for his distinctive poetic forms and free verse. Whitman s most popular work Leaves of Grass influenced many future writers that came after him to follow his writing style. The richness that Leaves of Grass left behind had such a huge impact on American writers of many different backgrounds and cultures. Whitman s influence can be seen in the works of Ezra Pound, Langston Hughes, and Sharon Olds. The influence Walt Whitman had on Ezra Pound is found through Pound s modernist poetic experiments. At the beginning of Pound s career, he wrote of Whitman, I honor him for he prophesied me while I can only recognize him as a forebear of whom I ought to be proud (Willard 573). The following work from Pound was a pact he made with Whitman: It was you that broke the new wood, Now is a time for carving. We have one sap and one root Let there be commerce between us (quoted in Willard 573). Pound went on to keep that pact with his many works that include The Cantos, The Condolence, and To Whistler, American. Like in the 1855 version of Leaves of Grass, Whitman gave a descriptive image of him in a working dress and large hat, arms akimbo, standing at his ease, this is also matched by the descriptive image in Pound s Pavannes and Divisions (Willard 573). • 5. Mabo Case Legal studies Law Reform Legal studies Law Reform The Australian Legal System response to the Mabo case has changed greatly ever since the first time it was introduced. Many different acts were introduced and/or amended as a result of this case. The effectiveness of the law and the law reform in protecting the rights of individual and society at large is demonstrated throughout this essay. Eddie Koiki Mabo was born on Murray Island in 1936 and was an Indigenous Australian. In 1974, during a conversation with two academics, Mabo became aware to the fact that his family did not own their traditional lands and that it was, in law, owned by the Crown. The Queensland Government wanted to remove any doubt that the Meriam people had total ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Mabo decision ended the idea of terra nullius in relation to Australia, when it recognised the Meriam people as the owners of the Murray Islands. It also opened the door for other Indigenous groups to be able to claim ownership of land that they could prove a continuous connection with. Unfortunately Eddie Mabo had died of cancer in February 1992, just 4 months before this historic high court ruling that would change Australian land law. The judgement was so historic because it completely overturned the idea of terra nullius and said that native title survived in many places, even though the land had been taken by the Crown. With Terra Nullius distinguished, it proved the point that Murray Islands first inhabitants were in fact the Meriam people. With the Mabo case being successful many other cases came about for example Wik Peoples v. The State of Queensland (also known as the Wik Decision). It is a decision of the High Court of Australia in December 1996, regarding the right of access by the Wik peoples of Cape York Peninsula in North Queensland to Crown land held under pastoral leases for cattle grazing. The court decided (4 judges to 3) that the rights of indigenous people who can prove a connection to the land can coexist with the rights of the pastoralists, but where there is any inconsistency between the two, the rights of the pastoralist will prevail. In other words, pastoral leases do not automatically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Reflection Primary Introduction and Reflection The purpose of this, my reflective essay, is to consider the journey I have taken to develop and create both the research story task and the story task. In the first task I was tasked to do an in depth research on a topic that was trending or perceived as popular with a wide and varied audience. Accordingly, this would be a topic that could be seen to span a range of Social Media and established news sources. Then, in the second task, I was required to create a well structured article based on the topic and crafted to meet the well established journalistic standards of an established periodical, such as Time magazine. I now regret not adding an image to both support and establish the storyline. If ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Searching for information that related to my chosen topic proved to be problematic as many data algorithms were pre set to my previous searches, which created a narrower search result than I had hoped for. Accordingly the objective and purpose of writing an article on a cashless society was to examine the history behind it, how it would be structured and how it would affect those marginalised within society at various levels. Consequently, I now realise that, to create credible newsworthy articles, I will need to research a wider range of academic documents and streaming news reports. I will also need to continue to refine my writing ability so as to fluently convey my message to a discerning, well read and educated audience. Evaluation and Analysis My primary objective in investing a Cashless Society was to explore the impact it could have on those marginalised within our culture. I had mistakenly used a limited set of trend analysis paradigms to search and track what I was looking for. If I had used a wider range of browsers and search engines may have provided a greater diversity of credible data. Relying on basic search algorithms does have its merits, but can also create limited search results due to inherit limitations in the calculations used. Using a Linear Search Algorithm meant that I was only able to create a short list of possible compiled data collections. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Analysis Of The Poem Caged Bird In the poem Caged Bird by Maya Angelou about freedom, emotions, feelings, and depression. In the poem she wrote A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky (1 5). There is nothing for the bird to do anything better than freedom. Because any cages, even the gold, can be captive. It s meant, like a beautiful girl, who doesn t think about love, but she is thinking only about money and when she got it, and she married, she cannot be happy in the huge house, with gold furniture, big pool, expensive cars and without love because this girl just a doll for her husband. She lives in the gold cage without freedom. First, there is no other bird next to anyone, and with no one to bet on the song. Secondly, the bird will not be able to spread wings its wide and fly far. Thirdly, independence, life and destiny are completely lost in the hands of the owner of the cage. There is such a state of the human soul when one wants to live and love, to fly to heaven, to laugh and sing, and to give his joy to all who are near. Such a feeling is called happiness. But, apparently, no one can give an accurate definition of this concept, as no one has yet to determine exactly what is happiness. Some people are trying to be happy and from time immemorial trying to figure out how to achieve it. The fact is that happiness is different for each person, depending on the personality of the person. And this, in turn, depends on education, environment, living conditions and many other factors. However at the poem But a bird that stalks down his narrow cage can seldom see through his bars of rage, his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing (10) Actually for me, all my life was a cage has been about getting an education. My dream was attend a medical university. I graduated high school in Ukraine and after school, I got married and I didn t have the choice to study. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire was a fire on the top three floors of the Asch Building in Brooklyn, New York. No one knows the real cause of the fire. Most believe it started when someone tossed a burning cigarette bud into the scrap bin on the eighth floor. The building itself was fireproof, but there was so many flammable things inside the building that caused the fire to spread so rapidly. Terranova was on the tenth floor during the fire. It could be thought of as a systematic process, requiring consistent fraudulent action and deceitfulness. Usually Ponzi schemes are generally short in length, but Madoff s lasted for almost 30 years. In simpler terms, a Ponzi scheme is built upon the idea of robbing Peter to pay Paul, when in essence no real investment is made (Moaf.org). Of course, then the subsequent investors required a pay out, creating the necessity of Ponzi to acquire more investors to cover his more recent accumulated liabilities. As with most Ponzi schemes scheme, the more inflated the necessary returns grew the closer to self destruction the scheme becomes. Ponzi had to come up with a credible investment postulation. He claimed to be involved with a profit yielding arbitrage of purchasing international postal reply coupons (IRC) in other countries and then exchanges them at face value in the United States, therefore making a profit. Arbitrage consists of acquiring an asset in a particular market at a discount and then subsequently selling the same asset in a different market for a higher price, thereby making a profit off the transaction (SEC.gov). It wasn t until Clarence Barron reported, 160 million international postal reply coupons would be needed to cover Ponzi s investments and only 27,000 were in circulation (Fraudnewsamerica.com). Just as Charles Ponzi s scheme operated, the essence of Bernard Madoff s Ponzi scheme was quite similar. A quality of enjoyable sounds can be found in poems that readers also consider serious. However, these elements can also exist with themes that are more typical of the Romantic Movement, such as dreams and nightmares Poe handled this through images designed to show undecided states of awareness represented as lakes, seas, waves, and vapors. It treats his favorite theme, the death of a beautiful woman. This theme also appears in quot; The Sleeper quot; written in 1841 and quot;Ulalume quot; written in 1847. In all three poems, Poe chose detailed musical effects. Poe believed his art should be looked at internationally, rather than nationally or regionally. He was usually known at the time with the South. He did not defend his region s politics or social customs, like other southern writers. His lyricism was common to southern poets. Raised in Virginia, Poe sometimes was looked at as the southern gentleman, even if they see excelling regionalism in his work. Among Poe s poetic output, about a dozen poems are remarkable for their perfect literary construction and for their haunting themes and sections. In The Raven, which was written in 1845, the narrator is weighed down by depressions of death. Poe s unexpected handling of rhythm and sound is particularly shown in The Bells which was written in 1849 which was a poem that seems to repeat with the ringing of sharp instruments, and The Sleeper which was written in 1831, which copies the state of drowsiness. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The player s situational awareness has a huge impact on the ball movement because they know where each player will be during certain situations and are able to make quick decisions under pressure, thus moving the ball more efficiently. Another observation that portrays situational awareness was when the goalie of Cal State Fullerton predicted where the ball was going to be kicked during the attempted score of a Long Beach State player. Instead of waiting for the opponent to kick the ball and then reacting, the goalie predicted where the ball was going to travel and jumped as the opponent was making the kick to deflect the ball. According to Weinberg and Gould, athletes who have good situational awareness, always make it seem as if they are a step ahead of everyone else. The goalie was able assess the situation quickly and stay a move ahead of her opponent because she had been in this situation in the past. Her situational awareness gave her a competitive edge, allowed her to make the appropriate decision, and prevented Long Beach State from scoring any points. The second concept of sport psychology displayed during the soccer game was the use of arousal regulation strategies. Arousal regulation strategies are methods that either increase or decrease arousal levels of a person (Weinberg Gould, 2011). In this novel, Wolff tells a story about a man named Anders who experiences forgotten memories in his life and realizes what he once was and what he turned out to be in the end. Negative memories from a childhood in which physical needs were not met can easily influence a future. Children with these memories often go on to create unhealthy relationships, unattainable goals, or a life with no purpose. Motivation can become more difficult as time goes on due to lack of results in one s life as well as a lack of true satisfaction. Physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and acts of drug or alcohol abuse in the child s presence can make a lasting impression in one of two ways. Either the child must make the difficult choice at a young age to rise above such things or they must continue the cycle of living a life of despair as their parents did before them. Liz s friend Chris chooses the latter, and Liz must leave behind her friends, her family, and her home for a better life. As seen in these examples, children who witness traumatic situations are forced to grow up and gain wisdom beyond their years. For those who choose not to live a life like their parents s, the next step is starting on the long journey between a rough childhood and a triumphant adulthood. Considering the context of the late fifteenth century morality play Everyman, it seems that different views have been around for quite some time now. The author is unknown, yet it is easy to see that they have a unique writing style. For example, the main character is referred to as Everyman. This appears to be done with the intention to relate the character to the audience. In this English morality play, the author uses a unique style of allegory to express many desires that people often have throughout their life. Through this unique expression, many characters are introduced that show man s desire. In the end, everyman turns from his self centeredness and comes to God. This is only after he realizes that everyone else has abandoned him. Throughout the play, numerous characters are introduced. What is unique concerning the characters is that most of them do not have individual personalities. Everyman and God are the only main characters that are not just moral personalities. Death is one of the first on the scene, and tells everyman I am sent to thee rom God out of his majesty (Everyman line 90 91). Everyman appears to be confused as to why death would be sent to him. In The Minority Report, Philip K. Dick creates a government that can make an arrest with the assumption that their suspect is guilty, without taking into consideration that there was a minority report, which is the chance that their suspect is innocent. The people of this society had begun to see how this system is corrupt, and the coming to the point of how, If no arrests were made, there would still have been no crimes committed. As people see the chances of innocent citizens being arrested for no crime, they begin to think, how many murders would actually take place, and how many people would be falsely accused. When the flaw of arresting innocent people is first drawn to attention, it is made clear that any person who had be given a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Essay On Three Point Bending Tests like three point bending can be used to evaluate the properties of the entire specimen as a structure, so it is important to understand the mechanical response when there is an applied load to the composite structure. It will be a lot easier to understand for homogeneous materials, since they respond in the same behavior when loaded in different orientations. However, when dealing with composite material, the anisotropy created by the orientations of reinforcing fibers for each ply has to be taken into account. Such kind of material response and structure needs an orthotropic material model coupled with an assumption of plane stress. The stiffness along the fiber axis and perpendicular to the fiber axis as well as the Poisson s ratio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stress strain relationship of the material can be determined through this process. And properties like ultimate tensile strain, tensile modulus of elasticity, Poisson s ratio can be obtained. Measurement of shear modulus is also necessary. Two methods are reviewed for obtaining shear modulus: the Iosipescu shear test [15] and V notch rail shear test [16]. Both of these tests have a rectangular specimen with notches cut in order to concentrate shear stress at the neck. It is how the specimen is loaded differentiates these two tests. The Iosipescu method utilizes a special equipment which loads the specimen along its edges by exerting compressive force. The V Notched rail shear method uses another specialized fixture to grip the faces of the specimens and shears the specimen in tension. These two methods apply different forces in different locations of the composite specimen, therefore, it is reasonable to expect that each of the two approaches can give slightly different shear modulus. Yan lei et al. evaluated these two methods in his study [17]. Although the Iosipescu shear specimens can give good results, he claims that edge crushing can be an issue due to the way the specimen is loaded into the fixture. And V notched rail shear method can get rid of such unacceptable failure and it uses a larger gauge section, so this method has more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Marketing Audit of Diesel 1. Introduction Since 1950s, Jeans have become and continue to be a staple item of clothing in people s wardrobes as a medium representing stylish identity and identification (Kramer, KR, 2006). People wear jeans for a range of occasions, from staying at home to going outside at a cinema, restaurant or even a working place. As a report from Mintel states, during the year 2006 and 2010, the percentage of adults who bought jeans had remained relatively stable with over half of them ( 51%) purchasing at least one pair in 2010 (Mintel 2010). Unstable environments, dynamic markets, intense competition, and high costs to enter new markets force companies in various industries to adopt non traditional, innovative branding strategies, including cobranding, in an attempt to exploit their existing brand equity (Desai Keller, 2002). In recent years, Diesel has collaborated with different range of well established manufacturers to produce special edition items. This strategy usually provides a tool for differentiation that leverages brands through the transfer of positive associations, such as brand quality, image, or awareness, from one brand to another (McCarthy Norris, 1999; Simonin Ruth, 1998; Washburn, Till, Priluck, 2000). • 31. Symbolism In The Scarlet Ibis, By James Hurst When you see a storm, a tree, or the color red how does it make you feel? The Scarlet Ibis, written by James Hurst, is about a brothers bond and his pride that pushes his brother until death. The narrator s brother, Doodle, has a heart condition which makes him physically delayed. The narrator doesn t want a disabled brother so he nicknames him Doodle because you can t expect much from a disabled person in 1918. He was also ashamed that he had a brother that couldn t walk, therefore he decided to teach him even though the doctor said he shouldn t do anything to push his heart. A bird called a scarlet ibis plays an important part that develops symbolism in the story. The scarlet ibis and Doodle have many things in common that brings the story together. Both Doodle and the Scarlet Ibis died during a storm near a grand tree which symbolises danger and sadness while the tree shows life. In addition the color red is an important warning sign throughout the story. According to the story, It s a scarlet ibis, he said, pointing to a picture. It lives in the tropics South America to Florida. A storm must have brought it here (Hurst l. 311 313). The scarlet ibis was in danger and pushed out of its natural habitat due to the storm. The bird was most likely physically exhausted and this led to its death. He also states, Sadly, we all looked back at the bird. A scarlet ibis! • 32. How Anti Forensic Tools Work As Well As Looking At The... 1. Introduction The aim of this report is to investigate where and how anti forensic tools work as well as looking at the challenges forensic investigators are faced when such tools are used. After anti forensic tools are used certain artefacts will be left behind, this report will also cover the procedures and difficulties when trying to uncover these artefacts as well as the tools used to find them. Anti Forensic (AF) techniques are the actions which are aimed to prevent forensic investigators analysing the case effectively since the AF tools are used to reduce or the quantity and quality of useful information. Anti forensics is yet to have its own definition however this is expected as it is still a relatively unexplored field despite the fact cybercrime levels are growing every day. There have been several AF definitions defined however these definitions only focus on certain parts of anti forensics. Peron and Legary came to a definition which I feel fits which is limit the identification, collection, collation and validation of electronic data. (Peron and Legary, 2005). Data hiding is a commonly used AF technique which is defined as the art of hiding the fact that communication is taking place, by the hiding of information in other information (Tyagi, 2012, p.120). Data is hiding is used to essentially removing data from view so it is far less likely to be uncovered meaning that it won t be used in the forensic investigation. • 33. Dogs Are The Better Pet Over Dogs More people in the US own cats than they do dogs. In the US, 95.6 million people own cats compared to the 83.3 million who own dogs ( Pets by the Numbers ). 12.3 million more people own felines than they do canines. There are a few explanations why felines are favored over canines in the US. Felines are the superior pet over canines by population because cats cost the owner less money than dogs do, they do not need too much for their maintenance, they do not depend the owner as much as dogs do, and are usually healthier and have a longer life span. The first reason why cats are the better pet over dogs is because cats cost less to maintain as far as yearly and medical costs. The yearly cost for cats is around $450 which is significantly different from the $660 yearly cost for a dogs ( Cat vs Dog ). Bottom line, dogs are one and a half times more costly than the typical yearly cost for a cat. Nevertheless, there is an even greater price percentage for medical bills when we relate these two animals. The average medical fee for a cat is only $160 a year. Whereas, a dogs fee can be $290 a year or more ( Cat vs Dog ). There is a substantial variance in cost when comparing dogs and cats. Studies, have shown that no matter which way they look at it, cats are cheaper. Cats aren t better just because they have lower yearly costs and medical fees, but also because cats do not need as much maintenance as dogs do. Both need love from the owner, but apart from love, they need other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The American Association Of University Women Throughout the history of the world, discrimination in all forms has been a constant battle; whether its race, gender, religion, beliefs, appearance or anything else that makes one person different from another, it s happening every day. One significant discrimination problem the world population is battling, takes place in the work place. Women, who are as equally trained and educated, and with the same experience as men are not getting equal pay, The American Association of University Women is releasing a new study that shows when men and women attend the same kind of college, pick the same major and accept the same kind of job, on average, the woman will still earn 82 cents to every dollar that a man earns (Coleman). This form of inequality dates back for centuries and stems from the common belief that since men provide for women and women take care of the home and children, men therefore are more efficient in the career chosen. This is also known as systemic discrimination. Now in modern times, the realization that man and woman can produce the same results, have the same education, and have the same capacity to accomplish the same overall tasks as men is becoming more popular, especially as the prevalent thought of women as not as valuable as men is constantly being proven to be incorrect. The ongoing issue of the past has now become an evident problem in our modern day society. Women nowadays have opportunities that were not obtainable in past decades but must ... • 35. Advantages Of The Maghrib The modernization of the Maghrib was not beneficial to the culture and modernization of North Africa. Although there were benefits relating to the architectural upgrades and the spread of ideas about politics and the modern world, the forcing of the French culture, division between religions, and the external French motivations were overall not beneficial. The Maghrib is a section of North Africa that includes Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and sometimes parts of Libya. Specifically, Algeria was very important to this region as well as the French who tried to colonize and modernize this region. Along with Tunisia, whose impacts from the French are shown through the travels and experiences of Khayr al Din. Ever since the beginning of the French colonization efforts, the natives of the Maghrib were weary of the concept. The French true motivations are evidenced through their new implementation of laws, cultural integration, and disregard for the religious groups of the region. Originally, the Maghrib architecture was distinctly North African, simple in design, and including ornate mosques. Fez is a grand example of the architecture region and all that it has to offer. The mallah section of Fez involves a lot of traditional North African architecture along with Jewish cultural influences. Although the architecture in this region was stunningly beautiful, when the French came in they upgraded a lot of buildings and public areas. Consequently, the region has a gorgeous mix of French colonial and native architecture. A great example of this resides in a town square where there is a mosque in the center and beautiful French colonial architecture surrounding the rest of the square in Algeria. The French influenced architecture as small as the lamp posts and as big as the grand, efficient highways. Due to this, the roadways and general design and architecture of the region was an incredible blend of ancient North African and modern French architecture. The French did not try to fully push their ideas upon the natives of the Maghrib, but instead brought their ideas with them and let the ideas assimilate with the natives to the degree the natives allowed it to. • 37. Character Analysis Of Black Swan In the film, Black Swan, the plot centers on Nina Sayers, a ballerina whose only goal is to play the role of the Black and White Swan in her company s production of Tchaikovsky s Swan Lake ballet. While she easily embodies into the innocence and grace of the White Swan, her shy and fragile personality does not fit the seductiveness and mysteriousness of the Black Swan. As a result, she struggles to become the opposite of who she is, worsening her issues with depression and anorexia. In the beginning of the film, Nina was depicted as an average, normal person living in New York that yet lacked the freedom to express herself as a sexually free, young woman due to her mother s controlling behavior. When she wins the coveted Swan Queen role, the feeling of immense pressure that comes with the role causes Nina to lose her tenuous grip on reality and descend into a living nightmare. For example, she experiences symptoms such as interpreting normal behavior from Lily as an attack because of Nina s jealousy toward Lily s effortless embodiment of the Black Swan (Schacter, Gilbert, Wegner, Nock, 2014). Nina s attention to negative behavior to Lily is a result of her own imagination she starts conceiving events that did not happen such as a lesbian fling with Lily and her constant attempts to sabotage Nina s ability to perform as the Swan Queen. In addition, she suffers through hallucinatory episodes that involve bodily horror, such as her skin tearing off her body and the appearance of an evil twin, every time she reaches a step closer to her full transformation of the Swan Queen. In addition, she has developed an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa to meet the standard body image required for dancers. While her loss of appetite only becomes worse as the film progresses, this issue seems to have existed before the events of the Swan Lake production. Ultimately, Nina becomes so trapped in the world of Swan Lake that she forgets about the real world and truly becomes both the White Swan and Black Swan. However, her mind is unable to harbor both forces on a physical and psychological level, and as a result, she unconsciously chooses to commit suicide. Summary Of Andre Dubus III s House Of Sand And Fog Andre Dubus III s House of Sand and Fog House of Sand and Fog, by Andre Dubus III, explores the catastrophic repercussions of a complex misunderstanding between three characters. The conflict initially involves a dispute between Kathy Nicolo and Massoud Behrani over the rightful ownership of a house. The county wrongfully evicts Kathy and Behrani then buys her house at an auction. When Deputy Sheriff Lester Burdon enters the situation, events quickly slip out of control. Superficially, Lester s character is important to the novel because he acts as a catalyst, propelling the plot into unexpected action. But Lester impacts the novel in a more profound way, because were it not for his insecurity and selfishness, the rest of the characters could have been spared an avoidable tragedy. Lester s commitment to help Kathy at all costs undeniably alters the outcome of the novel. By providing her with money for a motel, and later with shelter at a friend s cabin, he allows her to continue avoiding the reality of the situation. If Lester had never met Kathy, she would have been forced to be upfront with her lawyer. Instead, Kathy tells herself there a limit to how much [her lawyer] wants to help, and continues to tell Connie Walsh that she is staying with friends (88). Knowing the severity of Kathy s plight could have prompted Connie Walsh to more ardently pursue the county on Kathy s behalf. Because of Lester, however, the truth is kept from the lawyer. The purpose of my research paper will be to inform the reader with statistical and factual analysis encompassing Incentives and reward based programs. We will evaluate various incentives to see if this macroeconomic incentivized/rewards based process does indeed drive business and generate more growth amongst companies via rewards and loyalty programs towards the general population of consumers. This analysis surrounding incentives will also be comprised of the price and demand structures to tie into how companies also utilize their rewards, customer loyalty plans and coupons during different times of the seasons to boost sales and establish a bond with the ones they are selling to, the consumers. U.S. consumers hold 3.3 billion memberships in customer loyalty programs, the 2015 COLLOQUY Loyalty Census shows, a 26% increase over the number of memberships reported in COLLOQUY s last census study in 2013 (Colloquy, 2015) With loyalty programs established this helps to generate a repeat customers which drives profits and promises future revenue. Consumers need an incentive to purchase a product at a certain place. When Loyalty programs are in place it helps the consumer relate to the product and funnels them towards the product in which they feel that they are apart of.
