Confidentiality and Informed Consent
Introduction
Dear client this paper is to inform you, of your right to confidentiality, and further more explain the
process of informed consent. In the world of Psychology and counseling, confidentiality and informed
consent has been the cornerstone to our practices (University of Phoenix, 1994). This paper will help
you to understand how the things you say during the counseling sessions may have legal implications

The law consists of types of information that patients must be given in order to make informed
decisions about getting medical care, diagnostic test, or treatment ( American Cancer Society , 2014).
When informed consent has taken place correctly the information that which is given must be clearly
understood by the patient; it s up to the patient to ask questions about any information they don t
understand. The patient must be given the opportunity to look over the information and ask questions,
the patient must also not be pressured to make their own decisions, as the informed consent assumes
that when the patient is making these decisions they are not pressured to do so ( American Cancer
Society , 2014). The process of Informed consent and refusal consist of first the patient being told
about the possible risks and benefits of the treatment, followed by being told about the risk and
benefits of other options which include not getting treatment ( American Cancer Society , 2014). The
Patient is then given the chance to ask questions and have them answered to their satisfaction,
followed up with being given enough time to discuss the plan with family members or advisors (

The Ethics Of The Texas Government
After examining the power one lobbyist can have in the Texas government, it is appropriate to look at
the enormity of what a corporation who specializes in lobbying efforts is capable of. The company
being examined is called Cassidy and Associates. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas politics,
when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texas would be suspending
payments to a Washington lobbying firm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and Associates (Zeller
2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because of how powerful this
company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million dollars, making them the
biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy
140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what lobbyist
companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try and give them
a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone gives a lobbying
group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy s clients were the
president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they did not get the federal
funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or comptroller begins to wonder
why public universities are giving a lobbying group in Washington so much money and getting
nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to receive any more money. Cassidy certainly
has not shied away from looking shady with their business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man
named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman of the house ways and means health subcommittee,
which has jurisdiction over numerous healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice
Chairman as well as CEO of a lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10
hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution.
Furthermore, this questions as to how

Symbolism In Strange Fruit, By Abel Meeropol
The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol, could be described as dark and graphic, as it embodies
Southern violence in America. The poem describes the lynching of black slaves, which was generally
presented to an audience of whites. Billie Holiday, a black female artist, would sing the poem to a
predominantly upper class white club. But strangely, the poem was written by a white man, Abel
Meeropol. Although the last confirmed lynching was in 1968, there are other forms of racially
motivated killings and violence in the United States today such as police brutality and the race riots
formed by white supremacist in Charlottesville. White America is linked and always will be to the
history of black killings. To understand what some of the lynching s could have looked like, Meeropol
made the poem very vivid with many examples of imagery within it as well as the many dark
metaphors he placed throughout the poem.
To understand why Strange Fruit transpired in the first place, it is important to realize the terrible acts
committed during the 1930s. The first slave ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1619 and from
then on, slavery would be etched into the history of America. For 246 years, slaves worked in
numerous fields of crops while being sold, traded, raped, and killed. Even after the abolishment of
slavery, Jim Crow laws started taking affect soon after around the 1880s. Although Jim Crow laws
were separate but equal rights, it was as if they were unfair and unjust rights.

Separatist groups in other parts of Nigeria. One of such separatist groups is Boko Haram, which has

by powerful political forces. The refusal of many insurgent groups to enter the Amnesty program and
the commitment of MEND (the main insurgent group in the Niger Delta) to continue armed hostilities

Memorialization Research Paper
Memorialization As an American, who happens to be half Mexican, memorials are seen differently by
many different people; their lust for recognition, or their respect to either a nation s greatness; or to the
protectors of that nation, are a couple central values. However, when creating monuments to
memorialize either party, designers must consider many aspects. Such as: what is the purpose of the
monument? What does it symbolise and mean? What are the costs, money wise, but also physically?
What is the monument going to destroy or remove? What will every group of people think about the
monument? These are questions which must be asked before the construction process proceeds.
Certain monuments bring positivity to the nation by bringing to ... Show more content on

This question outsets the others for many factors, such as, the ability of a group to gain the power to
overthrow the process can stunt the growth of a certain monument or memorial being built. On the
other hand, if the group creating the memorial becomes strong enough, they can push through and get
their ideas passed quicker and more luckily. Within source C, (Waiting for Crazy Horse), the author
exemplifies that, I have to admit: Mount Rushmore bothers me. It was bad enough that white men
drove the Sioux from hills they still hold sacred; did they have to carve faces all over them too? It s
easy to feel affection for Mount Rushmore s strange grandeur, but only if you forget where it is and
how it got there. To me, it s too close to graffiti. While the author creates a compelling article, the
main idea, is that the project of mount rushmore was created on land which is sacred to a culture, and
now it is seen as one of the most revered landmarks in America. The hypocrisy within the Rushmore
project, is the mountain shows a nation which is founded on equality, fairness, peace, and love.

Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer
Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential
Designer In today s art world there seems to be a large gap that separates fine art from commercial art.
Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in communications art and
produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from commercial artwork merely
because it was created with the intention of pleasing a client. Stefan Sagmeister bridges the gap in the
art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal, emotional, and deep art. While Sagmeister
s work encompasses a vast spectrum of mediums such as, album covers, logos, installations, and
posters it is his philosophy on design that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poster displays the midsection of Sagmeister s nude body, stretching from the top of his lip all the
way down to where his pubic hair begins. The audacity of his brazen body is accompanied by harsh
lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade (Heller amp;
Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock value, Sagmeister s
self mutilation was a commentary on the absurdity of inking the body with tattoos (Heller amp;
Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as well as Sagmeister s words
pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy, which he has now put to rest,
translates as his conscious effort to not get wrapped up in fashion statements or trends; design that is
defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom). Sagmeister explains why he relinquished
the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I discovered that this is simply not true. Through
experience I found that if you have content that is worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in
terms of form and style is actually very important. It can be a very useful tool to communicate that
content (Designboom). Stefan Sagmeister also has two published books under his design belt
(Sagmeister). Made You Look, Sagmeister s first book was published in 2001

Oroonoko Sparknotes
For ages, man exemplified their desire to perform inequalities to those weaker than they. From the
oppressor in the congregation, to the monarch and his crown court, it appears that man have a will to
take over and dictate others. Oroonoko, by Aphra Behn, shows us that slavery is immoral, shameful,
disheartening, and worse than death. Liberty is an assured human right. Oroonoko is a controlling
story about the sufferings of a chivalrous, gracious prince named Oroonoko. Through the novel,
Oroonoko is presented to be a heroic prince and a friend to numerous people especially to his fellow
slaves who looked up to him and respected him like he was a special person to them. He is given

man he earned his respect from that. Kunte becomes a smart, educated man towards the end and has

Analysis Of The Tuskegee Experiment
Introduction Medical experiments on human subjects carry a great deal of ethical dilemma. In the
United States, there have been various experiments made on human subjects that raised the ire of
many people in the society. Many of the subjects were subject to drug experimentation, risky
operations and being infected with diseases just to know how the disease affects the body. One of
these experiments is the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment conducted to unknowing subjects for 40 years.

Syphilis is a venereal disease that can be contacted and spread by means of sexual intercourse. An
infected pregnant mother can also pass the disease to the unborn child during pregnancy. The disease
is caused by a corkscrew shaped bacterium called a spirochete, Treponema pallidum. The bacteria
cause sores or ulcers to appear on the skin of the penis, vagina, and mouth. In some occasions, the sore
can appear in the rectum, on the tongue, lips, or breast.
During sexual intercourse, the bacteria is transferred from the sore of the person and enters the moist
membranes of the sexual partner s penis, vagina, mouth, or rectum. Once the bacteria enter the body, it
multiplies at a fast rate. The bacteria enter the lymph circulation, which carries the bacteria to adjacent
lymph glands, which swells as a response to the infection. During the first stages of the disease, which
is called primary syphilis and lasts for a few weeks, sores and ulcers begin to develop, particularly in
the genital area of the victim. Blood tests during this stage may not reveal the disease yet, but the
bacteria can be scraped from the sores. Eventually, the sores will heal, and the victim may recover
from the disease without any treatment.
The second stage of the disease is called the secondary syphilis, which begins about two to six weeks
after the sores have healed.

Cultural Significance Of Cultural Culture Essay
The studies into culture have been on going and the importance of cultural significance in societies
has increased in recent years due to the changing dimensions of the world we live in. Globalization
itself has had a very profound effect on cross cultural interactions through progression in the fields of
communication and technology that allow the formation of virtual work teams, the elimination of
borders in trade, increased labour mobility and migration between countries. While theorists over the
years have tried to define culture, it is important to note that cultural experts themselves have stressed
the difficulty of defining the concept without touching into different ideas and theories that contradict
each other (Browaeys and Price, 2008). Hofstede (2001) defines culture as the collective programming
of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another . In his
book International Management (2003), Tayeb adds to the literature defining culture as historically
evolved values, attitudes and meanings that are learned and shared by the members of community and
which influence their material and non material way of life . Some of the most commonly identified
elements of culture are values, attitudes, rituals and shared meanings that are developed by individuals
over the course of their lives through education, regional and national influences (Hofsede et al, 1991;
Schwartz, 1992; Trompenaars and Hampden Turner, 1997). Having

Stonewall Riots And The Gay Rights Movement
In 2016 President Obama named the Stonewall Inn as the first National monument to LGBTQIA
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Questioning, Asexual, Intersex) rights. In history classes, we learned
that movements can lead to progression to break down and change constitutional law, and the mindset
of society. We hear about the civil rights movement, women s rights and even the labor movement; but
seldom do we hear about the gay rights movement. Many people say that the LGBTQIA community
has been fighting since 1912 or WWII, but all can agree that the Stonewall riots started gay liberation
and changed the LGBTQ community forever.

Like a lot of bars in the area, the Stonewall Inn was operated without a liquor license and was a
seducement to the gay community for the latest drugs, and its remote entry. It also catered to lesbians,
but the bar predominantly consisted of younger gay males, transgender and drag queens. Due to the
allure of Stonewall Inn; Inspector Pine and Detective Smythe of the New York City Police department,
made it their mission to shut it down like they did several other mafia run gay bars in Greenwich. Pine
and Smythe devised a plan to gain access to the bar and arrest as many people as possible. Pine did not
want any tip offs for the raid, so he planned accordingly; Pine thought it would be smart to draft a few
men from anti gay support groups and two undercover policewomen from a neighboring precinct.
They would enter acting as gay men and women, start mingling with bar patrons and then leave the
bar and regroup with Pine and Smythe and begin the raid. The raid began at 1:20 in the morning on

industry. Kudler Fine Foods has planned on contracting with local growers to obtain their produce and
now they want to add a catering service. Before they can do so, they must run the possibility fully

Also they can have a wide array of choices since they do not have to keep large quantities of all items
in stock. They should also offer a little flexibility to the customer by letting them bring some idea into
the catering service that they may have, or have seen some other place. This will show that they are
interested in the needs of the customer as well as offering them goods and services for profit. This
ultimately could be a way of marketing research that helps the company stayed informed on the
introduction of new products in the industry. Also Kudler needs to make sure that their prices stay
competitive to other catering services in the area. They can offer services that may result in a higher
fee; for example it will cost more to have the meal prepared by a celebrity chef. They should be
flexible with the costs offering different meals at different costs to the customer. It cannot be stressed
enough that Kudler needs to focus on staying competitive since this is a new service that will be added
and they do not have the reputation of some other catering companies in the area. Kudler also needs to
decide if they will start off as a small caterer only doing small parties or will they do banquets and
weddings. The difference in the location is the staffing that they will have to offer at the events as well

The Effect Of Monetary Policy On Determination Of Coal Prices
To examine the effect of monetary policy on determination of coal prices in the U.S., we rely on a
dynamic framework of cointegrated vector autoregression (CVAR). The prerequisite requirement for
the application of the CVAR approach is that the selected variables must be nonstationary (i.e., I(1)
series). The presence of a unit root in the variables is thus tested using the Dickey Fuller generalized
least squares (DF GLS) test (Elliott et al., 1996). Panel A of Table 1 reports the results of the DF GLS
test. Since the null hypothesis of a unit root cannot (can) be rejected for any of the levels (first
differences) of the three variables at the 5% level, all the series are found to be nonstationary I(1)
processes.
It should be emphasized, however, that because of inability of the DF GLS to capture the possibility of
a structural break, the power of the test is likely to decrease with an undetected structural break in the
series, thereby providing misleading results. For completeness, therefore, we investigate unit roots in
the presence of a structural break using the Perron Vogelsang (PV) test. The results of the PV test are
summarized in Panel B of Table 1. As seen in the DF GLS test, the null cannot (can) be rejected for all
the levels (first differences) of the variables, confirming that all the three variables are I(1) series.
Hence, it is certain that the underlying series are apparently all I(1) processes even after taking into
account a structural break in the series,

New Coke Failure
The Failure of New Coke Wright State University MKT 3500 01 Marketing Research By Nicole Fore
Taylor Gilliam Ashley Hatton John Petry Abstract During the 1980 s Coca Cola was faced with a
potentially company killing problem. They were losing market share quickly to their competitors.
Pepsi was stealing a portion of the younger generation with their advertising campaign, and they
proved that consumers liked Pepsi better with the Pepsi Challenge. To combat their falling market
share Coke decided to introduce a new formula. This formula was based on the fact that people
preferred the sweeter taste of Pepsi. Once the new formula was finished, Coke conducted close to
200,000 taste tests to find out what consumers thought. New ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Another reason Coke was worried was that when given the choice in supermarkets consumers were
choosing Pepsi. These factors were all considered in the decision to dramatically change Coke s
formula, which had been around for 99 years. The Research After Pepsi began conducting taste tests,
which were showing more and more people were beginning to like Pepsi, Coke decided that it was
time for them to also conduct some market research and see if there was anything they could change
in their formula. The marketing vice president along with the president of Coke decided to send a team
of marketers out on Project Kansas and conduct a nation wide taste test. With the help of two Atlanta
based market research firms, MARC and Kenneth Hollander Associates, Coke tested their new
product in over 30 cities (Fierman, 1985). The results were overwhelmingly in favor of new Coke,
55% chose the new Coke over the old and 52% chose it over Pepsi. Overall, Coke spent two years and
around $4 million dollars researching the new Coke formula. They used a variety of methods for
research, such as: interviewing of around two hundred thousand people; blind taste tests; focus groups;
and surveys. With the numerous methods used to test the new Coke formula, Coke was sure they had a
winner with the new formula. During the blind taste tests consumers preferred the new, sweeter Coke.

Three Aspects Of Comprehensive Assessment
There are three aspects to consider in my comprehensive assessment of Susan. First, the things that
happen to Susan such as the relationship with her children, her husband dying a year ago, and the love
for her cats. Secondly, the things that happen within Susan s environment such as the accident she had,
her church, and her friends. The third aspect is the transaction between the two which I would have to
figure out ways where the client can have both, a healthy and a happy life. The primary concerns I
have in Susan s case is that she is living alone in a small trailer with seven cats. Susan is an older lady
and cannot be alone all the time, soon she will need of someone to be with her all the time. Also, her
children do not live close by her, and that she does not have a good relationship with her daughter. If

Examples Of High-Class Conflict In The Great Gatsby
The cynosures of the 1920s were people in the high class society . They had abundant amounts of
money, as well as bragging rights to do as they please. One of the most prominent themes in The Great
Gatsby is the social class conflicts in the 1920s. F. Scott Fitzgerald portrays this through rich versus
poor conflicts, as well as through Old Money versus New Money conflicts. In this novel, rich are
treated significantly different from the poor. The first time the reader really sees this conflict is when
Daisy makes fun of their butler. As if spreading gossip, Daisy bluntly asks, Do you want to hear about
the butler (Fitzgerald pg17)? She then goes on to explain that he can not smell because of his old job,
which was for lower class people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tom is a rich man who lives in East Egg, whereas George is a poor man who lives at a gas station in

Wilson, who lives in the Valley of Ashes hates her life at the gas station , and wants more for her life
than a man who only faked his wealth to be with her (Sam January 17, 2013). Because of this mishap,
Myrtle strives to be with the prosperous Tom Buchanan throughout the book, but no man would step
down in class just to be with a woman at the social status that Myrtle is at. As a result of the social
status difference, Myrtle has no right to speak about Daisy because she is so far below her. This issue
becomes present at the end of chapter 3 when Myrtle, out of spite and ignorance, begins to shout
Daisy s name. Tom is the most dominant character throughout the novel, and with one swift upward
motion broke her nose with his open hand (Fitzgerald pg41). Tom believes his actions were acceptable
because Myrtle was speaking out of place. This example shows the extreme actions taken against
someone of a different class, and just how regular it really was to treat them a completely different

Reasons To Remain A Loyalist Essay
Reasons to Remain a Loyalist The American Revolution, mostly known as the War of Independence,
arose from tensions between the residents of Great Britain´s 13 colonies and the British crown. The
colonies´ desire to obtain independence from the people that started their civilization was followed by
a series of riots that led to a full scale war. Indeed, the fight towards independence followed seven
years of senseless war. (McCurdy, 516)
In the fight for freedom, Patrick Henry, the political leader in the American Revolution gave his
famous ¨Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death¨ speech in which he expressed his passion to gain
independence from Mother England and that this war was a cause worth fighting for. However, Henry
also points the perspective of ¨men that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

captive by the British Navy could have been saved if they had avoided a war. It was stated that
¨supporters of the Revolution pointed to prisoner accounts of captivity and suffering as a clear
example of the corrupted nature of the British government¨ (Dzurec, 432). However, this war started
because the patriots wanted to get their independence from the British. Indeed battles such as Valley of
the Forge and the battle of Yorktown were not really necessary, but rather a rebellious fight towards
not obeying anybody that caused the loss of many innocent lives. To add up, the riots that the residents
of the colonies took part in were not really justified because the British government imposed taxes on
all of the British colonies in order to help pay off a debt that would have affected all of them.
Nevertheless, the first thing that the Americans did was react with violence which only pushed things

Islamic law is a very great jurisprudence worldwide, Islamic law is defined as the law according to the
Muslim faith and as interpreted from the Quran also known as Sharia law. The sacred law of Islam is
an all embracing body of religious duties, the totality of Allah s commands that regulate the life of
every Muslim in all its aspects. Important feature of Muslim law is the fact that there is no clear
separation of Mosque (is a place of worship for followers of Islam) and state. Under Islamic law, the
religion of Islam and the government are one. Islamic law is controlled, ruled and regulated by the
Islamic religion; a theocracy. Islamic law purports to regulate all public and private behavior including
personal hygiene, diet, sexual conduct, and child rearing. Islamic law now prevails in countries all
over the Middle East and elsewhere covering 20 per cent of the world s population. Despite its relative
inflexibility, in some ways, Islamic law is superior to other systems of law, such as the preference
given to arbitration in civil disputes. Islamic law composed of following elements

normally good and less interference than the other 802.11 standards. The cost for 802.11a is more

802.11b is the type of standard that is less expensive, faster, and easier to use than the other kind of
standard. This technology includes a wireless router that is able to send radio signals over the air to
other computers or electronic devices. Generally, Wi Fi router is connected to computer server or
broadband internet connection. 802.11b can distribute speeds up to 11 mega bytes per second. This
standard delivers a signal for about 50 meters (150 feet). The range depends on the area and condition
whether you are in an apartment building, having your router on another floor than your computer or
being in open area. 802.11b has the good signal because it has the lower frequencies, so it will be able
to move through the walls and other obstacle. The cost expended for this technology is affordable.

Assess the significance of popular pressure in bringing...
Assess the significance of popular pressure in bringing about improved representation and greater
democracy in Britain in the period 1830 1931 The period of 1830 1931 saw gradual yet largely
significant governmental reforms which led to an extension of the franchise from 500,000 to around
21 million. Prior to 1832, Britain s franchise composed of a selective elite of the landowning class,
however the 1832 reform act, although a disappointment in the extent of what it achieved, paved the
way for further reform as it brought people together in rebellion (the Bristol Riots). This proved that
popular pressure had the potential to be very successful in orchestrating parliamentary reform. The
influence of pressure from outside parliament was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether a revolution was possible is questionable amongst historians, however as Eric Evans wrote,
What mattered was that enough MPs and Peers believed that it was, and acted accordingly. 2 It could
also be said that unwittingly the government had evoked an atmosphere of popular pressure in Britain
as everyone had seen how easily they had surrendered to the rebels demands. Despite the bill s
limitations, the rioters had after all successfully achieved the first piece of legislation which was an
incentive for future pressure from outside Parliament, hence quickening the process of improving
representation and democracy in Britain. The Hyde Park riots of 1866 were another example of
working class radicalism in protest for reform. Similarly to the Bristol Riots, the rebels were
destructive by force and although there was said to be more mischief than malice , a policeman was
killed. Both the Bristol and Hyde Park riots were successful as they were each followed by a reform
the next year. I believe that the main reason for the Hyde Park riots victory was the unification of the
National Reform Union and the Reform League, two distinctively divided (in class) bodies. This
demonstrated that people of different classes and backgrounds were able to unify in common aims in
ways which the political parties could not. Furthermore, this alliance could be seen as a step towards
democratic reform as it began to

deviations from the standard of rationality or the good judgment which are often studied in behavioral
economics and psychology. The reality of biases according to many psychological scholars is
confirmed by the replicable research since there are numerous controversies regarding the
classification and explanation of these biases. Heuristics can be termed as the effects of the
information processing rules or the mental shortcuts that are used by the brain in production of

of Japan, has a long history and rich cultural background. The content will describe the Ainu language
and their culture. By understanding the language and culture of Ainu, will help us better to understand
the cultural diversity of modern Japanese society.
Japan is considered the simplest ethnic composition country in the world. The majority people think
that Japan is a single nation which is Yamato. In fact, in Hokkaido of Japan, lived almost forgotten by
the people of ethnic minorities Ainu. Ainu is widely distributed in the Japanese Islands as early as in
the Jomon Period (Henshall, A History of Japan 7). Some scholars believe that they were from the
branch of the Mongolian race from the Asian continent, belonged to Mongolian and Negro the
Australian mixed type of race. The history of Ainu shows that they were mainly distributed in Russia s

Gout And Diet Prevention Study Essay
Recently, a gout and diet prevention study was published in by Dr. Hyon K. Choi and Gary Curhan in
Arthritis Care Research s June 2007 issue which examined the fact that, contrary to popular belief,
coffee may not be as bad for gout sufferers as previously thought. Although gout patients have been
told to stay away from coffee, there may be an ingredient in the beverage that can actually help to
lower the uric acid levels in the body.
Though it is not yet known what part of coffee is responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in the
body, it is known that it is not just the caffeine content, as the same results were not found from
drinking caffeinated tea. Whatever the cause, when participants drank one to two cups of coffee every
day, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar, though not equal, results were witnessed. This is why it is now thought that components of
coffee other than soley caffeine are responsible for lowering the uric acid levels in the body.
Considering that until this study, gout sufferers had been discouraged from drinking coffee, many gout
sufferers may now be wondering what other gout and diet prevention beliefs may soon turn out to be
disproved. For example, though tea has not been found to reduce uric acid levels in the body as has
now been demonstrated with coffee, tea is often thought to be unacceptable as a part of a gout and diet
prevention strategy. Instead, tea can indeed be a part of a gout diet as long as it is consumed in
moderation and as long as its dehydrating effect is compensated for by taking in additional water.
It was also believed at one time that eating rich foods was the root cause of gout. Indeed, some rich
foods are high in proteins and purines and therefore may contribute to gout flare ups, however low fat
dairy products have now been shown to have a preventative effect. Also Gout is believed to be caused
by many factors, including being

Professor Jim Greene
Abstract:
Technology has had and imperative influence in almost every aspect of life. It has also made an
impact on how we learn today. Some question how effective learning could be via the internet, while
most stick with the familiarity of traditional classroom learning. Either option you choose still
substantiates that technology has changed the way we learn and will continue to expand on its
influences with the ways we choose to progress educationally. Each educational platform has it
disadvantages, however the advantages pose alternatives that can suit an individual s educational
needs.
With technology influencing almost every aspect of common activities, it s not unusual for it to
influence the way we learn. The traditional classroom environment is being challenged with the
implementation of online learning. With major technological advances over the last 20 years, many
traditional classroom environments have been replaced with online learning platforms that create
convenient, accelerated, and comprehensive learning opportunities around the world. Although some
would beg the differ that online learning can replace classroom education completely, online education
continues to improve allowing it to become a more trustworthy alternative for learning. Since the
traditional classroom environment pacifies familiarity in education some opt for

Honor And Certainty In Shakespeare s Hamlet
In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet struggles to restore honour and certainty in the
kingdom. Hamlet s father, the true King of Denmark was murdered by Claudius so that Claudius could
become the king, this was seen as dishonorable as Claudius was the King s brother, and the right to the
throne was not his. Hamlet finds out about the murder and feels he must avenge his father to restore
honour and certainty in the kingdom.
The present King, Claudius, is questioning Hamlet s odd behaviour because he feels Hamlet s new and
strange behaviour could be harmful to him and his position. So he asks Polonius, the Lord
Chamberlain, to spy on Hamlet to resolve the matter. While hiding behind an arras in Gertrude s room
to listen to the dialogue between Ophelia and Hamlet, he reveals his location by calling out for help,
Hamlet realizing there is someone behind the tapestry and suspecting it to be Claudius withdraws his
sword and stabs the hidden Polonius resulting in polonius s death, which assisted in ophelia going
mad, and also Laertes, Polonius s son seeking revenge on hamlet, which makes Hamlet s quest for
honour and certainty even harder to complete. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Technical Analysis of Ergonomics and Human Factors in...
I. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly
complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more
efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality
of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature
of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely.
However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how
he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and
machine are ideally interfaced.
The latter point involves an in depth analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several safety violations were observed because of this, none of which were fatal (Fitts, 20 21).
Shortly after World War II, aircraft cockpits were standardized to the six pack configuration. This was
a collection of the six critical flight instruments arranged in two rows of three directly in front of the
pilot. In clockwise order from the upper left, they were the airspeed indicator, artificial horizon,
altimeter, turn coordinator, heading indicator and vertical speed indicator. This arrangement of
instruments provided easy transition training for pilots going from one aircraft to another. In addition,
instrument scanning was enhanced, because the instruments were strategically placed so the pilot
could reference each instrument against the artificial horizon in a hub and spoke method (Fitts, 26 30).
Since then, the bulk of human interfacing with cockpit development has been largely due to
technological achievements. The dramatic increase in the complexity of aircraft after the dawn of the
jet age brought with it a greater need than ever for automation that exceeded a simple autopilot.
Human factors studies in other industries, and within the military paved the way for some of the most
recent technological innovations such as the glass cockpit, Heads Up
Display (HUD), and other advanced panel displays. Although these systems are on the cutting edge of
technology, they too are

John Updike A PAnalysis
In the story A P by John Updike, the narrator Sammy is a local grocery clerk in a small town. He is a
young man thrown into conflict with his older manager, Lengel over young female customers. Sammy
was intrigued teenage girls, and he struggled for distinguishing fantasy of romance and the reality of
the responsibility his manager has placed on him as an employee. This story focuses on the conflict
between the older generation and the new age by comparing the characters. The author described
Sammy as a working class person; however, he was only 19 years old and adolescence like a teenage
girl, Queenie. So, Sammy and girls in the bikini represented the younger generation, unlike Lengel,
the manager of the A P exposed the older generation s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, he shows himself preparing his climax moment through the intellectual and creative personality.
If a static or dynamic character is in the story, Sammy is considered a dynamic person. In A P, he says
three girls in bikini to imply a new conflict as a crisis and chance of his growing, She had talked the
other two into coming in there with here, and now she was showing them how doing it, walk slow and
hold yourself straight (1290). He has been fascinated by them, and he gives a creative name in the way
they walk and moves in stores. This creativity is a mediator that leads to new thinking and growth
when the crisis comes. Second, when the conflict reached a climax, he chose his own way with his
heroism. After Lengel gave Sammy the opportunity to withdraw the impulsive declaration, the door
heaves it open, and outside the sunshine is skating around on the asphalt (1294). This mention
emphasizes the Sammy s personal fulfillment and sincerity. He knows he regrets his decision to quit A
P, but he will not avoid his responsibilities. This quote provides a clue to a mature attitude by
describing how one obtains responsibility through individual decisions and

The Success Of The Buffalo Bills Essay
Everyone has a specific skill set that they are good at. Some people are good with numbers, others
have a gift for writing. The same is true in sports. The Buffalo Bills are very good at losing and
disappointing their fans, while the Patriots are fantastic at bending the rules and winning Super Bowls.
In baseball, each team is built around a specific group of players in order to create the best possible
chance to win the World Series. Some of the greatest players have created seemingly unbreakable
statistics. Joe DiMaggio had a hit in fifty six consecutive games. Barry Bonds hit seven hundred and
sixty two home runs over his twenty two year career. Statistics like these only come about once in a
generation. Teams are comprised of various talent. Some are like Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera always has
a batting average over .300 with at least 25 home runs. These types of players are considered great
hitters. Other s, like Stephan Drew, get a hit less than 20% of the time they have an at bat. Players
similar to Drew s skill set have a job because they are very good at defense and their value on defense
out ways their value on offense to their specific team. Baseball is sport rich with statistics. Almost
anything one can come up with, has a statistic. In the last ten years alone, top executives, such as Billy
Bean, have constructed teams based on advanced statistics and have been fairly successful, like the
2002 Oakland Athletics. Other teams, like the Houston Astros,

  • 4. The Ethics Of The Texas Government After examining the power one lobbyist can have in the Texas government, it is appropriate to look at the enormity of what a corporation who specializes in lobbying efforts is capable of. The company being examined is called Cassidy and Associates. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas politics, when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texas would be suspending payments to a Washington lobbying firm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and Associates (Zeller 2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because of how powerful this company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million dollars, making them the biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy 140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what lobbyist companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try and give them a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone gives a lobbying group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy s clients were the president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they did not get the federal funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or comptroller begins to wonder why public universities are giving a lobbying group in Washington so much money and getting nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to receive any more money. Cassidy certainly has not shied away from looking shady with their business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman of the house ways and means health subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over numerous healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice Chairman as well as CEO of a lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10 hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution. • 5. Symbolism In Strange Fruit, By Abel Meeropol The poem Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol, could be described as dark and graphic, as it embodies Southern violence in America. The poem describes the lynching of black slaves, which was generally presented to an audience of whites. Billie Holiday, a black female artist, would sing the poem to a predominantly upper class white club. But strangely, the poem was written by a white man, Abel Meeropol. Although the last confirmed lynching was in 1968, there are other forms of racially motivated killings and violence in the United States today such as police brutality and the race riots formed by white supremacist in Charlottesville. White America is linked and always will be to the history of black killings. To understand what some of the lynching s could have looked like, Meeropol made the poem very vivid with many examples of imagery within it as well as the many dark metaphors he placed throughout the poem. To understand why Strange Fruit transpired in the first place, it is important to realize the terrible acts committed during the 1930s. The first slave ship sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 1619 and from then on, slavery would be etched into the history of America. For 246 years, slaves worked in numerous fields of crops while being sold, traded, raped, and killed. Even after the abolishment of slavery, Jim Crow laws started taking affect soon after around the 1880s. Although Jim Crow laws were separate but equal rights, it was as if they were unfair and unjust rights. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Memorialization Research Paper Memorialization As an American, who happens to be half Mexican, memorials are seen differently by many different people; their lust for recognition, or their respect to either a nation s greatness; or to the protectors of that nation, are a couple central values. However, when creating monuments to memorialize either party, designers must consider many aspects. Such as: what is the purpose of the monument? What does it symbolise and mean? What are the costs, money wise, but also physically? What is the monument going to destroy or remove? What will every group of people think about the monument? • 11. Essay on Stefan Sagmeister, an Influential Designer Libby Castellani Holly Vaughn GRA 1109C 17 October 2012 Stefan Sagmeister: An Influential Designer In today s art world there seems to be a large gap that separates fine art from commercial art. Often there is a disconnected coldness associated with those who work in communications art and produce art for clients. As if all emotion and feeling is stripped from commercial artwork merely because it was created with the intention of pleasing a client. Stefan Sagmeister bridges the gap in the art industry by redefining commercial design as a personal, emotional, and deep art. While Sagmeister s work encompasses a vast spectrum of mediums such as, album covers, logos, installations, and posters it is his philosophy on design that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poster displays the midsection of Sagmeister s nude body, stretching from the top of his lip all the way down to where his pubic hair begins. The audacity of his brazen body is accompanied by harsh lettering that has literally been carved into his skin by his intern with a razorblade (Heller amp; Vienne, 10). While the broad reception to this poster can be attributed to its shock value, Sagmeister s self mutilation was a commentary on the absurdity of inking the body with tattoos (Heller amp; Vienne, 10). The scratches in his body display the details of the lecture as well as Sagmeister s words pertaining to his philosophy on design, Style=Fart. This philosophy, which he has now put to rest, translates as his conscious effort to not get wrapped up in fashion statements or trends; design that is defined by a temporary style is meaningless (Designboom). Sagmeister explains why he relinquished the philosophy in an interview with Designboom: I discovered that this is simply not true. Through experience I found that if you have content that is worthwhile the proper expression of that content, in terms of form and style is actually very important. It can be a very useful tool to communicate that content (Designboom). Stefan Sagmeister also has two published books under his design belt (Sagmeister). From the oppressor in the congregation, to the monarch and his crown court, it appears that man have a will to take over and dictate others. Oroonoko is a controlling story about the sufferings of a chivalrous, gracious prince named Oroonoko. Through the novel, Oroonoko is presented to be a heroic prince and a friend to numerous people especially to his fellow slaves who looked up to him and respected him like he was a special person to them. An infected pregnant mother can also pass the disease to the unborn child during pregnancy. The disease is caused by a corkscrew shaped bacterium called a spirochete, Treponema pallidum. The bacteria cause sores or ulcers to appear on the skin of the penis, vagina, and mouth. In some occasions, the sore can appear in the rectum, on the tongue, lips, or breast. During sexual intercourse, the bacteria is transferred from the sore of the person and enters the moist membranes of the sexual partner s penis, vagina, mouth, or rectum. Once the bacteria enter the body, it multiplies at a fast rate. The bacteria enter the lymph circulation, which carries the bacteria to adjacent lymph glands, which swells as a response to the infection. During the first stages of the disease, which is called primary syphilis and lasts for a few weeks, sores and ulcers begin to develop, particularly in the genital area of the victim. Blood tests during this stage may not reveal the disease yet, but the bacteria can be scraped from the sores. Eventually, the sores will heal, and the victim may recover from the disease without any treatment. Personal Well-Being Research Paper Through this experience I have become a more balanced person because I have achieved personal well being as well as the ability to care more for the well being of others. One reason I believe I have become more balanced is I have learned to care more for myself. Personal well being is not only physical but, emotional too; emotional well being is the the presence of a healthy amount or lack of stress, anxiety, and or high levels of self criticism. After my experience with bullying, these traits are all characteristics that I have recently adopted into my daily life. • 20. Cultural Significance Of Cultural Culture Essay The studies into culture have been on going and the importance of cultural significance in societies has increased in recent years due to the changing dimensions of the world we live in. Globalization itself has had a very profound effect on cross cultural interactions through progression in the fields of communication and technology that allow the formation of virtual work teams, the elimination of borders in trade, increased labour mobility and migration between countries. While theorists over the years have tried to define culture, it is important to note that cultural experts themselves have stressed the difficulty of defining the concept without touching into different ideas and theories that contradict each other (Browaeys and Price, 2008). Hofstede (2001) defines culture as the collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another . In his book International Management (2003), Tayeb adds to the literature defining culture as historically evolved values, attitudes and meanings that are learned and shared by the members of community and which influence their material and non material way of life . Some of the most commonly identified elements of culture are values, attitudes, rituals and shared meanings that are developed by individuals over the course of their lives through education, regional and national influences (Hofsede et al, 1991; Schwartz, 1992; Trompenaars and Hampden Turner, 1997). We hear about the civil rights movement, women s rights and even the labor movement; but seldom do we hear about the gay rights movement. Many people say that the LGBTQIA community has been fighting since 1912 or WWII, but all can agree that the Stonewall riots started gay liberation and changed the LGBTQ community forever. Due to the allure of Stonewall Inn; Inspector Pine and Detective Smythe of the New York City Police department, made it their mission to shut it down like they did several other mafia run gay bars in Greenwich. Pine and Smythe devised a plan to gain access to the bar and arrest as many people as possible. Pine did not want any tip offs for the raid, so he planned accordingly; Pine thought it would be smart to draft a few men from anti gay support groups and two undercover policewomen from a neighboring precinct. They would enter acting as gay men and women, start mingling with bar patrons and then leave the bar and regroup with Pine and Smythe and begin the raid. • 23. The Effect Of Monetary Policy On Determination Of Coal Prices To examine the effect of monetary policy on determination of coal prices in the U.S., we rely on a dynamic framework of cointegrated vector autoregression (CVAR). The prerequisite requirement for the application of the CVAR approach is that the selected variables must be nonstationary (i.e., I(1) series). The presence of a unit root in the variables is thus tested using the Dickey Fuller generalized least squares (DF GLS) test (Elliott et al., 1996). Panel A of Table 1 reports the results of the DF GLS test. Since the null hypothesis of a unit root cannot (can) be rejected for any of the levels (first differences) of the three variables at the 5% level, all the series are found to be nonstationary I(1) processes. It should be emphasized, however, that because of inability of the DF GLS to capture the possibility of a structural break, the power of the test is likely to decrease with an undetected structural break in the series, thereby providing misleading results. For completeness, therefore, we investigate unit roots in the presence of a structural break using the Perron Vogelsang (PV) test. The results of the PV test are summarized in Panel B of Table 1. As seen in the DF GLS test, the null cannot (can) be rejected for all the levels (first differences) of the variables, confirming that all the three variables are I(1) series. Hence, it is certain that the underlying series are apparently all I(1) processes even after taking into account a structural break in the series, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first time the reader really sees this conflict is when Daisy makes fun of their butler. As if spreading gossip, Daisy bluntly asks, Do you want to hear about the butler (Fitzgerald pg17)? Reasons To Remain A Loyalist Essay Reasons to Remain a Loyalist The American Revolution, mostly known as the War of Independence, arose from tensions between the residents of Great Britain´s 13 colonies and the British crown. The colonies´ desire to obtain independence from the people that started their civilization was followed by a series of riots that led to a full scale war. Indeed, the fight towards independence followed seven years of senseless war. Prior to 1832, Britain s franchise composed of a selective elite of the landowning class, however the 1832 reform act, although a disappointment in the extent of what it achieved, paved the way for further reform as it brought people together in rebellion (the Bristol Riots). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the bill s limitations, the rioters had after all successfully achieved the first piece of legislation which was an incentive for future pressure from outside Parliament, hence quickening the process of improving representation and democracy in Britain. The Hyde Park riots of 1866 were another example of working class radicalism in protest for reform. Similarly to the Bristol Riots, the rebels were destructive by force and although there was said to be more mischief than malice , a policeman was killed. Both the Bristol and Hyde Park riots were successful as they were each followed by a reform the next year. I believe that the main reason for the Hyde Park riots victory was the unification of the National Reform Union and the Reform League, two distinctively divided (in class) bodies. This demonstrated that people of different classes and backgrounds were able to unify in common aims in ways which the political parties could not. • 46. A Technical Analysis of Ergonomics and Human Factors in... I. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely. However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and machine are ideally interfaced. The latter point involves an in depth analysis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several safety violations were observed because of this, none of which were fatal (Fitts, 20 21). Shortly after World War II, aircraft cockpits were standardized to the six pack configuration. This was a collection of the six critical flight instruments arranged in two rows of three directly in front of the pilot. In clockwise order from the upper left, they were the airspeed indicator, artificial horizon, altimeter, turn coordinator, heading indicator and vertical speed indicator. This arrangement of instruments provided easy transition training for pilots going from one aircraft to another. In addition, instrument scanning was enhanced, because the instruments were strategically placed so the pilot could reference each instrument against the artificial horizon in a hub and spoke method (Fitts, 26 30). Since then, the bulk of human interfacing with cockpit development has been largely due to technological achievements. The dramatic increase in the complexity of aircraft after the dawn of the jet age brought with it a greater need than ever for automation that exceeded a simple autopilot. Human factors studies in other industries, and within the military paved the way for some of the most recent technological innovations such as the glass cockpit, Heads Up Display (HUD), and other advanced panel displays. • 48. The Success Of The Buffalo Bills Essay Everyone has a specific skill set that they are good at. Some people are good with numbers, others have a gift for writing. The same is true in sports. The Buffalo Bills are very good at losing and disappointing their fans, while the Patriots are fantastic at bending the rules and winning Super Bowls. In baseball, each team is built around a specific group of players in order to create the best possible chance to win the World Series. Some of the greatest players have created seemingly unbreakable statistics. Joe DiMaggio had a hit in fifty six consecutive games. Barry Bonds hit seven hundred and sixty two home runs over his twenty two year career. Statistics like these only come about once in a generation. Teams are comprised of various talent. Some are like Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera always has a batting average over .300 with at least 25 home runs. These types of players are considered great hitters. Players similar to Drew s skill set have a job because they are very good at defense and their value on defense out ways their value on offense to their specific team.
