Who Is Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
Welcome to the Windham High school drama club revival of A Raisin in the Sun!
Lorraine Hansberry was born in the south side of Chicago on January 12th 1930. Hansberry s parents,
Carl and Nannie Hansberry were well involved in politics. During the time where there was racial
discrimination against African Americans. Hansberry s childhood was a rough patch, growing up
during the Great Depression, but was never fallen into the lower class status.
Hansberry has gone through many challenging milestones having to move to a white suburb
neighborhood at age of eight. Hansberry and her family had faced with multiple attacks against them.
In the source About the Playwright: Lorraine Hansberry wrote Shortly afterwards, Hansberry herself
was nearly killed by a brick hurled through a window by angry whites Mobs of white people surround
her home since her family is African American. In which connects to her play A Raisin in the sun

However, the followed events lead to legal action where the case of Hansberry vs Lee conducted in
order for her family to be force out of their home. In the article, a brief biography of the playwright
Lorraine Hansberry states Hansberry vs Lee, which eventually reached the Supreme Court, where the
eviction was overturned. In A Raisin in the Sun Walter Lee said to the Linder And we have decided to

Half the Sky Movement s Efforts to Empower Women Worldwide
Throughout history, women have been victims of oppression. Even though there have been attempts to
shed light on the issue that women face worldwide, it seems as if humanity still does not understand
its importance. Society has tried to mold everyone to believe that white heterosexual men are superior
to those who do not fit the hegemonic norm. However, there have been women and men who
dedicated their lives to fight this worldwide issue. Amongst those people are Nicholas Kristoff and
Cheryl WuDunn, who are authors of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women
Worldwide and who are also featured in the movie documentary. Ishrad Manji defines Gendercide in
his article Changing Lives that was published in The New York Times as the daily slaughter of girls in
the developing world and it steals more lives in any given decade than all the genocides of the 20th
century. Sex trafficking, forced prostitution, maternal mortality, and gender based violence are
subjects that are especially exposed. Therefore, the Half the Sky Movement has proposed
microfinance and education as ways to overcome these problems. There are currently 2 to 3 million
prostitutes in India. During my research, it has seemed that there are only three explanations for this
high number. The first being that women work as prostitutes to bring food to the table for their
children because there is no other means of income. Second, most girls are coerced and cannot leave
without being punished

Essay on Female Chauvinist Pigs
In Female Chauvinist Pigs, Ariel Levy attempts to reconcile her personal views of feminism with its
portrayal in popular culture. In order to challenge what she sees as a co opted version of feminism,
Levy raises the question of authenticity of sex positive feminism (Levy, 63) on two levels: by selling
out in terms of the body and in terms of our patriarchal culture. In order to restore a binary
relationship between feminism and non feminism, Levy recasts this sex positive feminism as a new
form of (fe)male chauvinism. To do so, Levy turns to the experiences of several young women whom
she interviews. From her interpretations of these experiences, Levy reaches the conclusion that these
women s sexual nature revolves around their need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This binary relationship manifests itself in Levy s work in another way, as well. Toward the very end
of the book Levy claims she has no complaint against women who do gain genuine sexual pleasure
from their vaginas waxed, their breasts enlarged (Levy, 198). On one hand, Levy recognizes that
sexuality is personal and that everyone s own experiences and preferences are unique. Yet at the same
time, by drawing the line between authentic and fake , she must impersonally interpret these
experiences in order to classify them as problematic . This desire to judge yet not judge women s
sexual nature represents an underlying tension within the book that threatens to unravel her arguments.
Levy further asserts her binary comparison in a temporal manner by comparing the feminism of the
past with the feminism of the present, as she claims in recent years, the term feminism has fallen
further and further out of favour (Levy, 86). By framing her own views of feminism as those
belonging to an earlier point in the timeline, she privileges these views as original or authentic . Yet
this does not acknowledge that the anti porn wars of the 80 s was a point at which feminism branched
out, rather than transitioned from one set of beliefs to another. As a result, the cultural changes that she
observed occurred in the presence of both stances of feminism, making it difficult to distil the cause.
Levy privileges past over present in her suggestion

The Pros And Cons Of The Divine Command Theory
Divine command theory is an ethical theory (metaethics) which asserts that an actions place as
morally good, is corresponding to whether or not it is commanded by God. The theory states, roughly,
that The view that morality is somehow dependent upon God, and that moral obligation consists in
obedience to God s commands. Divine Command Theory includes the claim that morality is
ultimately based on the commands or character of God, and that the morally right action is the one that
God commands or requires. Enthusiasts of both poly and monotheistic religions in both archaic and
modern times, have regularly welcomed the extreme influence of God s commands in implementing
morality. Diverse variants of the theory have been conferred: historically, ... Show more content on

If you pursue his commands without fail, you ll be repaid. God is both almighty and infinite. If you
elect to defy, your punishment is inevitable. If you embrace these commands, God will ordain you
with life eternal and a rightful place in heaven. Those who hold Gods commands in high regard, have
a substantial incentive to follow his rules. Finally, the most popular religions are centuries old and
have documented many of God s rules. Religious texts grant us the knowledge and understandings
about the character of God, and they make it simple to know how to act in a moral manner. For

The Complexity of Human Relationships Human relationships are complex and diverse and are
generally major aspects of the life of a person. They can have resounding positive as well as negative
impacts on a person s life that are felt no matter where the two people in the relationship are. They
also tend to fluctuate, as they have their brighter moments along with their not so favorable moments.
Finally, a relationship is expected to be reciprocal, and generally the actions of one party in a
relationship will dictate the reactions of the opposing party to such treatment. Furthermore, in a
hierarchical relationship such as the relationship between parents and children, the inability for group

That self imposition can come in the form of irresponsibility in money wherein it is earned but
frequently wasted on self interests and addictions such as alcohol, gambling, and drugs. Another
possible cause for such a condition could also simply be laziness and an overall unwillingness to work
while accruing debts and not carrying the responsibility of the family he took upon himself. These
thoughts are quickly dispelled by the author however, as she changes her tone in the following lines;
You gave her all you had/ which was nothing. You had already given her/ all you had. (Clifton 15 16)
This line indicate a sudden change of tone in her poem where she goes from blaming her father to
possibly sympathizing with her father in believing he was put in a bad position and despite not having
much, he gave all of it to her mother. This line also marks a change in the poem for the narrator from
expressing her frustrations to possibly coming to terms with them and attempting to put her
experiences behind her and move

The Golden Age And The Golden Age
I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life
to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I
needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover,
Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended
up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry
about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this
young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday
life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how
it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the
grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first
grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age.
In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however,
reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be
insignificant while being in the first grade. When I went to the first grade the safety protocols were not
as commonly practiced as they are current day. I had felt a sense of safety even though I may not have
been able

Abstract Post traumatic stress disorder is suffered by individuals who have experienced significantly
stressful or upsetting events that has affected their everyday life, in particular individuals who have
been in military combat or terroristic incidents. It is important to understand the different types of
treatment that will be used in this study which are psychotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy, also

(McElhiney, Moody, Steif, Prudic, Devanand, Sackheim, (1995) Studies show psychotherapy is one of
the most used therapies for PTSD, but it s not as effective as other therapies might be.
One research states psychotherapy is underutilized for veterans suffering from PTSD, since this
disorder is linked to suicide risk, reduced life quality, physical disabilities and even difficulty in
building relationships after their trauma, there is a significant concern on what should be done about
this. There were about 25% of people diagnosed with PTSD who were receiving about 4 sessions per
year, and there was about 16% who were receiving 52 sessions per year. (Hundt, Mott, Cully, Smith,
Grady, Teng (2014) That s a significant difference in the treatments. Psychotherapy is said to be less
effective than electroconvulsive therapy when treating post traumatic stress disorder. Veterans
suffering from PTSD have a hard time adjusting to the outside world after their traumatic event, this
can consist of individuals who experienced major military events, or individuals who were in actual
combat and the amount of combat experienced. The symptoms can include physical reactions,
nightmares, flashbacks and extreme emotional disturbances which can lead to violent reactions,

Community Development Reflection
I have enjoyed taking this class this semester. Even though I hit a few hiccups along the way I pushed
through. I think it will help in my future endeavor in community development. Many people can
benefit by taking this class and learning more about the health issues within a community. The
information can also be carried on and utilized within many other professions. I have shared many of
my learning experiences from this class with family and friends and have passed on a lot of
knowledge. I honestly feel taking this class in a classroom would have been more educational to me.
The use of visuals and hands on is a way I like to learn and as a result I would have retained and
understood more in this area. Having an experience professional in the career already attending the
class and sharing would have helped me too. Even though I did take this class online and a lot of
topics were covered in a short amount of time a lot of good information was taken in. It does help that
I have experienced on some level of the topics that were presented. There s always room for more
growth while learning more on the topic of health in community development. Things are always
changing, growing, and expanding, including the development of new Technology. I have just started
the beginning of what all it entails. I think it would be helpful to have learned more on the solution to
some of the problems presented. A lot of the topics were interesting to read about, but on some I felt

Golden Age Of Athens
Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a relatively
short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization.
As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding two
to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed by the
Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian armies in
480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art, literature,
science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of creativity and in
Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the statesman Pericles.
Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its
government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government
between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less harsh
than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the term
draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens, although a
council of aristocrats still made the laws.
Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still further,
creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He

A Study On Sediment Properties
Sediment properties were measured from three surface scrapes of sediment taken at each quadrat in
Essex and Morecambe. These sediment scrapes were frozen at 20°C for subsequent analysis. In the
laboratory, 5g of the sediment was air dried, gently crushed and passed through a 2mm sieve. Particle
size distribution of the 2 mm fraction was undertaken following Malvern Mastersizer protocol (v1.3)
(http://www.geog.cam.ac.uk/facilities/laboratories/techniques/psd.html) at the University of
Cambridge. Only one sample was taken at each of the Northern Irish sites, when this was not possible,
the Agri Food and Biosciences Institute, supplied data on sediment particle sizes. Comparative particle
size distribution indices (Logarithmic mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and skew) were calculated
according to Folk and Ward (1957) and analysed using GRADISTAT software (Folk Ward, 1957; Blott
Pye, 2001).
Particle size distribution was recorded at the site level for the Northern Irish sites, but was highly
resolved for Essex and Morecambe (three replicates per quadrat within each sites), requiring us to
standardise the data across locations. To do so, we first tested for significant differences between the
three replicate samples taken at each quadrat within each site, and upon finding no significant
differences, pooled replicates giving a quadrat mean. We then tested for significant differences in
sediment properties within each pooled quadrat at each site, which were not

The Main Theological Concerns Within the Book of Deuteronomy The book of Deuteronomy is one

its primary aims was not, as many OT books had done previously, to initiate and educate a minority of

In proposing that the people were now governed by a single God, the Deuteronomists then proceeded
to emphasize the superiority of their God with regard to the Gods that were worshipped by the
surrounding nations[4]. The superiority of YHWH necessarily supposed that the Israelites were
obliged to obey him, thus re affirming the Ten Commandments given to Moses by YHWH on
Mt.Horeb. YHWH s position was portrayed to the Israelites as one of supreme power, but also one of
abounding love and compassion towards his followers. This in turn allowed Deuteronomy to make
reference to the punishments applicable to those who did not believe in the God of the Israelites (7:1
5). Such punishments were seen to be wholly necessary for those who turned against YHWH and
refused to obey him[5].
The refutation of polytheistic beliefs within Deuteronomy naturally led to the rejection of any symbol
or object being erected by the people in the place of YHWH (5:8; 4:1 40). The Deuteronomists
assumed that YHWH would never fully reveal himself to the Israelites and therefore refuted the
formulation of images on the earth that were erected and worshipped as YHWH. Such icons and
images were seen to impugn the sovereignty of God , representative of a re working of the
unknowable image of God into a specific form to suit the needs of

Descriptive Essay About Capitola
The town of Capitola is a small city in Santa Cruz, California on the coast of Monterey Bay. The town
itself consists of the downtown, the neighborhoods, and most importantly the beach! The town of
Capitola only has a population of 10, 180 people (2016), but it is a perfect place to go for a vacation.
Capitola is one of my favorite places to go. I love the small, colorful town and the beach is calm and
relaxing. In Capitola, there are many things to see, hear, smell, touch, and taste. You can use your five
senses for everything around you!
Sight
There is a lot to see in Capitola, CA! Beaches, Sand, and People are all things you can see around you,
but there is also much much MUCH more to see! As you look around the town, you can see some
things that you may see in other places such as restaurants, people, cars, and bikes. But there are also
things in the town that are unique to only Capitola. This includes some of my favorite buildings in
Capitola. There are about 21 buildings all in a row, with some up top and others below. What I like
about these buildings is that they are very colorful. Every one of the buildings is a different color.
These colors include: Orange, Red, Dark Orange, Yellow, Sky Blue, Lime Green, Bright Pink, Dark
Blue, and Teal. Another cool thing about these buildings is that there is a small lagoon of water right
in front of the buildings, which adds to what the houses look like when you look at them from afar.

Tension in Witch s Money Essay
Tension in Witch s Money
In John Collier s Witch s Money, the stranger who suddenly appears in a remote mountain village in
Spain is initially seen by Foiral as an unwelcome madman. Certainly his surrealist description of the
landscape must seem a symptom of insanity to one unfamiliar with the trends of modern art. Once he
offers a nice sum of money to buy Foiral s house, however, the stranger is treated with a new attitude.
He is still not completely accepted by the community that he has moved into, but he does wield a new
type of power simply because only he can produce cash from paper billets. With his magic cheques,
though, the stranger creates a tension that grows into an economic struggle between himself and his
community. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This knowledge of cheques that the stranger has over Foiral and the community increases the tension
between them. When Foiral finally receives his money from the cheque, he is under the impression
that all cheques give thirty thousand francs. Knowing that the stranger has a whole book of cheques,
Foiral and his friends immediately feel jealous of the outsider: he has something that they want. A
stranger a madman who has more than any member of the community, has invaded their town.
Because he has so much and they so little, the villagers feel that it is their right to take the stranger s
magic cheques . . . even if, in the process, they must take his life as well. Ironically, tragically, their
righteous ambition leads to their own destruction.
With the stranger dead, the people of the community help themselves to his cheques. Money begins to
exchange hands as goods are bought and deals are made. The progress of economic development
comes to the village. No one is afraid to dig up the money that they have saved because as soon as the
cheques are cashed there will be no worries, and the town can continue to prosper. But as every man
meditates on their two of these excellent billets, they begin to feel that they were too rich to speak to
each other (71, 72). Conflict grows between one time friends as they argue over what is to be bought
and sold. Greed has come to town with the artist and his witch s money.

One of the most well known is, To every action there is always an opposed and equal reaction .2 These
three basic theories are the most widely known theories that Newton proposed. The development of
these theories founded what is now modern physics. These theories also gained Newton attention and
credibility in the scientific community, which further helped spread his accomplishments. The
discovery of these laws, laid down a basic foundation for the physics of motion. Newton s three laws
of gravity changed the way in which the world was perceived, because of their accuracy in describing
many unexplained phenomenons.3 They explained what happens as a result of different variables, but
most importantly, they explained why and how these actions happen. Like many of Isaac Newtons
ideas and theories, the three laws of motion had a profound impact on the scientific community. The
three laws of motions provided an explanation for almost everything in macro physics. Macro Physics
is the branch of physics that deals with physical objects large enough to be observed and treated

for others to develop upon. Isaac Newton published these findings in his revolutionary book The
Principa . The Principa was revolutionary book because it organized the bulk of his life s work, More

Parents Who Put Their Children
1. Parents who put their children to work the second they were able to do the work are to blame.
However, this is a much more complicated issue because it is very difficult, if not nearly impossible,
for a strong, able bodied man to earn enough money on his own to support his family and keep his
children in school as long as the law requires. This leads to parents not putting their children in school,
lying about their ages, and sending them to work in factories so that they can help provide for their
families. Without the children s assistance, many families of workingmen would be in poverty and
unable to provide for themselves. Source 18.2 Visual Document The Inevitable Result 1. The man

With the current state of the economy, it would be beneficial for students to take a personal finance

Knowledge Through Sense Perception, Emotion, Language, And...
Knowledge can be defined as information gained through sense perception, emotion, language and
reason, while it is defined by Plato as justified true belief. The claim that knowledge takes the form of
a combination of stories and facts is however not accurate in history and biology. First, it brings up the
questions of what are stories and what are facts. Stories are accounts of past events from somebody s
perspective, while a fact is the truth. When looking at the two areas of knowledge, they each favour
one side of the combination over the other. For example, knowledge from history mostly takes the
form of stories, while knowledge from biology mostly takes the form of facts. This distinction
between the different types of knowledge leads to the knowledge questions of How do we obtain
knowledge in the different areas of knowing? and To what extend is knowledge in certain areas of
knowledge subjective or objective? When studying history, the way to obtain knowledge from it is to
use primary and secondary sources, because we can only use sources from the events of past, and we
cannot actually perceive the events. By the reason of that, I believe that history is an area of
knowledge that is mostly made up of stories, and what we call history is the modern interpretation of
those stories. This is because when I was studying about the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, I found out that primary sources such as newspaper articles from America had bias in them.

How Does Watching Tv Corrupts The Mind
When people generally think of television, most may assume it rots the mind. Freelance writer Rachel
Krantz not only believes that TV is not useful for your mind, it may kill you, decrease your chances of
having kids, ruin the ones you do have, and possibly turn you violent. Could any of this have
happened to me as I was binge watching The Simpsons from seasons one to eight during the summer?
I initially thought that this show was prone to dumb me down as I did this, but instead it enlightened
me through its clever writing. Even with gags as dumb as an old man hurt by a football thrown to his
groin, I felt as if no other show was as thoughtful and full of heart as The Simpsons. Despite that
Krantz s claims are backed by academic studies and research on television, it should be the least
concern for our minds. Television does not rot our minds; it intellectually challenges and aptly adjusts
our minds depending on how we use it.
The further time a kid spends watching television, the larger their brains grow. That seems great,
although apparently this is considered unhealthy for them. A recent Japanese study reveals that as kids
between ages 5 through 18 spend, on average, two hours of watching TV per day, certain areas of their
brains were growing. The rise in brain volume of these kids was linked to a fall in their verbal IQ.
However, the data in this study was not clear if TV watching caused this (Sanders). While this study

Dramatic Play Generally dramatic play has been proven is one of the main activities that can enhance

The game we would like to propose in our syllabus is Live in Your Space . In this dramatic game, the
instructors will give instructions to kids to build their own space such as school, library, post office,
kitchen, grocery or office. The kids will be divided into smaller groups of three or four peoples for
them to work together to build their own space in 30 to 45 minutes period and after that the kids need
to act the roles they have chosen since children actually love to pretend as adults.
There are various toys provided in the childcare that kids can use to build the setting they want. For
example a group of kids wanted to build a classroom setting. They can use everything in their
surrounding for the setting such as books, number or alphabets blocks, some cards and etc. They also
can arrange the chairs and tables in order to make it similar with a classroom by help from teacher.
After the setting, the kids can pretend as teacher teaching in the classroom or as students listening to
the lessons. The teacher can ring a bell when wanted the end the pretend play to make the situation

The Causes For The Emergence Of Speech
The Causes for the Emergence of Speech in Humans
By
Fazrurnaguib Paharuddin
Since the beginning of time, humans utilized the mechanism of speech to interact with each other and
to gain specific needs and benefits. The emergence of Homo sapiens finally revolutionized the way
humans achieve what they wants. Humans are assumed as a magnificent creature and consequently
each cultures has its own tale on how we became exist and prominent on the Earth (Long, 1963).
Speech and language are among the pivotal keys to the purposes of social communication. In this
paper, I will discuss about the foundation of speech in humans.
The study of this topic is hard and controversial because there is no direct evidence linking the reasons
and the theories. For this reasons, scholars from many different areas have come up with varieties of
ideas and speculation to resolve the causes and the chain events of reactions that lead to the emergence
of speech in humans. Humans extraordinary ability to make use of the mouth for speech caused
scholars to deduce that this evolution is a compelling progression (Fitch, 2000). To get the matter at
hand precise and concise, I will select a few theories that I found fascinating and analyze them. The
advantages and disadvantage of these theories will be looked at to determine which of them best
answers the real justification of the development of speech in humans.
First, we have a theory proposed by Max Müller in his lectures in 1861. He claimed two

Dna Database Ethics
How would you feel about a DNA database having record of every man, woman and child in the
United States? Many questions are raised on whether it is ethical to have, safe and beneficial. A
national DNA database could help solve crimes, but it also allows for thousands of innocent people to
be at risk. Many argue against having a DNA database and many are for a database. I am going to
argue against having a national DNA database because it has potential of being hacked, it is a violation
of individual rights and DNA is not 100% accurate. A national DNA database would be under control

Though there are many arguments against having a DNA database there are also reasons to have a
DNA database. DNA is one of the leading factors in putting criminals behind bars. When DNA is
evident in a criminal case, it makes that case a lot stronger. With a database of all citizens DNA it can
help law enforcement catch criminals to make communities safer. DNA will not only be able to help
solve crimes ongoing now and for the future but to help solve past crimes. DNA also allows for
scientist to use the valuable information for research to get a better understanding of health and safety
for individuals and to help link people who have the same medical condition. With an entire database
of all people, it allows for the system to not be discriminatory. Minorities make up the vast majority of
the criminal justice system. With every race, gender and ethnicity in the system it opens up the ability
for all people to be at risk for being in the system with DNA placing them for a crime and making it
harder to get away with one. There is also a possibility that having a DNA database will lower crime
rates. People who feel they can get away with crimes now, will have a higher chance of getting caught.
Those who fear getting caught because the government and police agencies have their DNA will be
less likely to commit crimes. Mark Kleiman a professor who deals with criminal justice stated, DNA

more than hundreds of abortions are performed daily. Abortion is a constant debate among pro life and
pro choice. Not everybody believes or agrees with the same point of view. People argue pro life or pro
choice, if it is murder or not, however, an abortion ends the pregnancy before giving birth thus ending
the life of a living unborn child. Pro life supporters believe abortion is murdering a child. They

They believe that since it is the woman s body, it is her choice. In the pro choice argument, the group
says it is safer for teens to have an abortion than to give birth because teens are not yet completely
developed to have a baby. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their
bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is
too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to
finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on
parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice
supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being
unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going
down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a
terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone
else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say
the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath
outside of the womb. When a baby is no longer attached to its mom and living and breathing on its
own is when life begins for the baby. Meaning they do not believe obviously that the fetus is a baby.

Uniformities In Vietnam War Essay
While history is the study of past events, knowledge in history is not constituted by strictly knowing
what has happened in the past. Knowledge in history requires awareness of various perspectives of
historical events and our interactions with past events. Uniformities are an essential component in
determining knowledge in history, as is helps us identity the causality of the historical event or the

However, the cause of war was unclear among different countries. The United States knowledge about
Vietnam was rooted in a broader concern about communism, rather than colonialism. Occurring in the
midst of the Cold War between Russia and the United States, when communism was a major concern,
the United States felt an obligation to join the war to prevent the spread of communism. During this
time, United States president, Lyndon B. Johnson, was concerned with the Domino Theory, stating
that if one country came under the influence of communism, the surrounding nations in the region

What Is The Cause Of Social Outcasts In To Kill A Mockingbird
Prejudice and social expectations: the cause of social outcasts and unfair treatment. In the novel To
Kill a Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, themes of prejudice and social expectations are accurately
displayed by creating outcasts in society and relying on pre judgments to judge behavior. She also
accurately displays the fact that not all people in the south during that time were prejudiced.
Social expectations are a strong aspect of the town of Maycomb in To Kill a Mockingbird. Many
outcast are created using these expectations. In the story, the Radley s are viewed as a very odd family
and when the main character and narrator, Scout, reveals the reasons why, at least one reason is
because They don t follow social expectations. The shutters and doors of the Radley house we re

social expectations is not for the whole city, but for the men that are considered foot washing Baptists.

Jane Eyre, The Great Divorce, And The Importance Of The Heart
William Faulkner once said that in order for a work to be considered good writing, it needs to display
a conflict within the heart. The three summer reading books, Jane Eyre, The Great Divorce, and The
Importance of Being Earnest, all certainly present some internal conflict within major characters.
Through these conflicts, the major characters have to make decisions in the books and these decisions
have grand consequences. These decisions teach the readers very valuable moral lessons. Through
displaying internal conflicts within characters like Jack, Jane, and Ikey, authors Oscar Wilde, C.S.
Lewis, and Charlotte Bronte follow Faulkner s definition of good writing while also teaching the
readers about morality and giving wisdom about life. The first work that displays a conflict of the
heart is The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. In this play, a character known as Jack has
to make a very tough decision that involves the woman that he loves. After lying to everyone about

the Second Act. He goes to Miss Prism and says He died abroad; in Paris, in fact. I had a telegram last

Why Math Is Important To Me Essay
Math is one of those subjects that we tend to find the least accessible and the least applicable to our
lives. After all, who is ever going to need to use Fermat s Little Theorem or the Fundamental Theorem
of Arithmetic in their everyday life besides a handful of individuals? The easiest answer to this
prompt, then, is to say that math is going to influence the ways I create and craft budgets in my
production management career. However, that answer is no more interesting that saying that knowing
how to add helps you pay your bills every week. Perhaps the best answer to this prompt is not in what
math can do for me on a practical level, but rather it is in what math can help illuminate for me. When
I started this course, I believed math to be the essential foundation for our everyday activities (and that
is still true). But as this course ends, I have come to understand math as more than just how to encrypt
information online securely.
Math has the ability to shape how we perceive and understand the complex machinery of the world. It
makes it simpler, certainly, but it also makes us wonder about how intricate and expansive parts of our
lives are. Think about a concept like infinity an idea I spoke briefly about in my exam, but which I

abstract notion. After our lesson on infinity, I found myself thinking deeply about what it means for

Summary Of The Garden Of Earthly Delights
For centuries, humans have analyzed the negative aspects of their own nature that leads them to falling
victim to overindulgence, producing myriads of written pieces and artwork to depict the creator s
portrayal and interpretation. Various forms of abundance, control, and power are vices that humans are
drawn to, utilizing them with greed and selfish intent in their hearts. Hieronymus Bosch, a
Renaissance era painter from the Netherlands and most popular for his invention of Early
Netherlandish style paint, depicts his take on human s overindulgence of the vices through a world
famous piece titled The Garden of Earthly Delights . Created as a triptych, a three part painting
divided into three separate panels, The Garden tells the story of humanity s empire, from the pure
creation of man, to the corrupted result of man s overindulgence in the vices. Bosch s heavily
references a biblical story, particularly of Adam and Eve, in this piece, a trait common in Early
Netherlandish paintings. This painting style makes reference to biblical works as well as heavily
emphasizes the use of shadows and light, allowing for the natural aspects of the landscape, animals,
and humans within it to appear more life like. With the painting s richness in color, detail in linework,
and overall composition of the characters within it, Bosch s The Garden of Earthly Delights evokes a
deeper meaning to the formation and destruction of mankind s empire through mankind s tendency
towards corruption

Everyone get to have the opportunity and satisfaction of being a friend to someone or making friends

Most of these new friends that are being made every day are people that we cease to even meet face to

For example, when Osgood first met Daphne, he was flirtatious and touchy with Jerry, who was
disguised as Daphne at the time. She ends up slapping Osgood and dumping him in the elevator, but
that does not prevent Osgood from trying to be with Daphne. Joe, disguised as Josephine also has
some encounters with a worker at the hotel who will not leave her alone. Then later on, when Joe
dresses up as Junior to get Sugar to fall for him, he realizes how much he cares for her and how much
she cares for him, and after listening to Sugar singing about how heartbroken she is because of Junior
leaving, it makes it even harder for Joe to leave. Also, Joe being in love with Sugar causes a few more
money problems because when Jerry receive a gold bracelet from Osgood, they decide to sell it and

Pros And Cons Of Synthes To The Biotresorbable Industry
The competitive landscape of the bioresorbable industry poses a threat for Synthes, as it s composed
of big players, specialists, and potential entrants. The biggest threat is Johnson and Johnson, which has
a strong sales force which comes them access to doctors and hospitals across the U.S. Furthermore, J J
is a major player in the sports medicine industry, where it takes full advantage of its 2nd generation of
bioresorbable technology. Although, J J is a threat in their ability to develop and market their current
bioresorbable technology, this also presents an opportunity since generation 2 technology is prone to
errors. If Synthes successfully develops, a safer, third generation of bioresorbable technology, it can
make a name for itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their stronger, lighter, and cheaper third generation bioresorbables products can quickly outshine their
competitors products, which doctors complain of being unreliable. The third generation of
bioresorbables also has more versatile uses, since the stronger product allows doctors to use it for
applications other than pediatrics and small bones such as the hands or feet, which they would
otherwise be limited to if they focused on the second option and marketed the second generation

It Worked For Me Essay
Prior to reading these four chapters of It Worked for Me, I knew very little about the life of Colin
Powell. I knew his name and heard it often throughout Black History Month, but reading an excerpt of
this memoir granted me access to rather admirable part of his character. Colin Powell is a true leader
with a great deal of understanding between both military experience and his reign as Secretary of
State. This book shares what he has learned during his time of power and teaches its readers his best
tips on how to Powell s thirteen rules intensely inspired me; they can not only apply to those aspiring
to be great leaders, but the rules can also be heeded by a common person. Reading Powell s quotes led
to my own self reflection: which of rules did I already follow and which did I want to implement into
my daily routine. Rule nine, Share Credit, has always been a persistent habit of mine. Most ... Show

Chapter two hones in on the idea of performing to the best of my abilities. Whether this be putting my
all into my own tasks or in the tasks of others, doing my best will always create the most desirable
outcome. Operating in my best capacity opens many doors that could potentially place me in the
position to adopt leadership roles. Chapter eleven explained the importance of mutual respect. The
relationship between a leader and their subordinates is much like a partnership: mutual respect is the
driving force. With both halves of the partnership respecting each other, productivity will reach much
closer to capacity. Chapter twelve explained the importance of passing on information through
generations and how we all learn better through the teaching of others with experience. I especially
appreciated these chapters because it enhanced the importance of working together, a important skill
in the business world and something I will endure for the rest of my

John Gorrie Monologue
Mom played innocent, but she may suspect I m not. She probably spies on me, like Leda spies on her.
You can trust the snoop you know, so Leda doesn t bother me. Until I find out how my mom spies on
me she s my worst enemy.
Dr. Prime s death went nastier than planned, thanks to Commodus, but all my plans for postmortem
disgrace went well. Herms obeyed, so she s a controllable recruit. Ionia s smart, I like her. Too bad she
had to go back because I trust her as much as Lil who keeps to the whore s code when it comes to
secrets.
Monster loves the vibrating tongue stud I gave her, she ll probably get an infection by passing her gift

Europe can t. I need info that can t be found here. Christina and Polly can both translate, but one has
patience, and the other has greater skill. Honey will convince Polly to join our European expedition
and Christina can stay here and translate Ionia s documents. Polly can translate what we find on our
trip.
Hella did her lesbian fling with Honey, but she seems to possess eyes for Jimmy. I m still not certain
about Nancy Neith, but she and Jimmy appear hot for each other. Monster will need to watch the love
triangle while I m gone. Maybe Hella can move her eyes off Jimmy and watch over his two cousins.
Newt s older, but Hella might bang him or the other cousin, Kal, as a substitute for Jimmy.
I m hoping Honey and Polly will meet me here at Lil s place before the month ends. Polly may not
find time for a Euro trip and I may need new plans. Researching possible European recruits will come
in handy, either way. My French sucks, so I want a translator. One name popped up after a brief
browse, but I need to research her before I get my hopes

Safe Sex
SAFE SEX Is there anything like safe sex? There is no safe sex because sex can t be 100% safe, most
healthcare professionals believe that the only way to be safe is to abstain. Sex can not be safe; it can
only be made safer. Safer sex refers to anything we do to lower our risk of getting sexually transmitted
infections (STI s). Abstinence is the only sure way to prevent STDs. The safest sex is between two
uninfected people who have never had another sex partner. Since abstaining is hard for most people,
there are measures that can be taken to make sex safer. Some of these include; Condom use,
masturbation, virtual sex, cuddling, kissing, and touching. According to the National Institutes of
Health (NIH), practicing safer sex involves the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Premarital sex • Low self esteem, when you have your personal self image at an emotional level, you
become depressed and disoriented. • Strong feelings of isolation and loneliness, usually characterized
by withdrawal. Sex is a very emotional involvement, something no man or woman could/can ever
comprehend fully. Psychological Relationship Premature and potentially risky sexual behavior has
now been found to be associated with other psycho social risk factors. This is mainly caused by
mental torture and uncertainties, mainly due to the lack of knowledge whether your partner is faithful
or not. If you have contracted a disease, this will lead to the development of guilty feelings accelerated
by blaming yourself because of you actions, can also cause one to inflict mutual pain because of
indulging in a sexual relationship. Most fears include: • Fear of pregnancy, usually in students who
are in the middle of their education, women pursuing their career or women with anemia. • Fear if a
condom breaks during intercourse • Premature ejaculation, that is if the penis was to be removed
before ejaculation • Condom wasn t used properly • Fear of death Spiritual Relationship This is

  • 3. Half the Sky Movement s Efforts to Empower Women Worldwide Throughout history, women have been victims of oppression. Even though there have been attempts to shed light on the issue that women face worldwide, it seems as if humanity still does not understand its importance. Society has tried to mold everyone to believe that white heterosexual men are superior to those who do not fit the hegemonic norm. However, there have been women and men who dedicated their lives to fight this worldwide issue. Amongst those people are Nicholas Kristoff and Cheryl WuDunn, who are authors of Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide and who are also featured in the movie documentary. Ishrad Manji defines Gendercide in his article Changing Lives that was published in The New York Times as the daily slaughter of girls in the developing world and it steals more lives in any given decade than all the genocides of the 20th century. Sex trafficking, forced prostitution, maternal mortality, and gender based violence are subjects that are especially exposed. Therefore, the Half the Sky Movement has proposed microfinance and education as ways to overcome these problems. There are currently 2 to 3 million prostitutes in India. During my research, it has seemed that there are only three explanations for this high number. The first being that women work as prostitutes to bring food to the table for their children because there is no other means of income. Second, most girls are coerced and cannot leave without being punished ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay on Female Chauvinist Pigs In Female Chauvinist Pigs, Ariel Levy attempts to reconcile her personal views of feminism with its portrayal in popular culture. In order to challenge what she sees as a co opted version of feminism, Levy raises the question of authenticity of sex positive feminism (Levy, 63) on two levels: by selling out in terms of the body and in terms of our patriarchal culture. In order to restore a binary relationship between feminism and non feminism, Levy recasts this sex positive feminism as a new form of (fe)male chauvinism. To do so, Levy turns to the experiences of several young women whom she interviews. From her interpretations of these experiences, Levy reaches the conclusion that these women s sexual nature revolves around their need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This binary relationship manifests itself in Levy s work in another way, as well. Toward the very end of the book Levy claims she has no complaint against women who do gain genuine sexual pleasure from their vaginas waxed, their breasts enlarged (Levy, 198). On one hand, Levy recognizes that sexuality is personal and that everyone s own experiences and preferences are unique. Yet at the same time, by drawing the line between authentic and fake , she must impersonally interpret these experiences in order to classify them as problematic . This desire to judge yet not judge women s sexual nature represents an underlying tension within the book that threatens to unravel her arguments. Levy further asserts her binary comparison in a temporal manner by comparing the feminism of the past with the feminism of the present, as she claims in recent years, the term feminism has fallen further and further out of favour (Levy, 86). By framing her own views of feminism as those belonging to an earlier point in the timeline, she privileges these views as original or authentic . Yet this does not acknowledge that the anti porn wars of the 80 s was a point at which feminism branched out, rather than transitioned from one set of beliefs to another. As a result, the cultural changes that she observed occurred in the presence of both stances of feminism, making it difficult to distil the cause. Levy privileges past over present in her suggestion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Golden Age And The Golden Age I have found myself thinking back to the first grade when comparing my time in that period of my life to the golden age. In the first grade I relied on people more than ever for the basic necessities that I needed at that time. I was sent to Bancroft Elementary School and it is located in Andover, Massachusetts. At this point I was somewhat unknowingly guided through the first grade and it ended up sharing many similarities with the golden age. The golden age is when man did not have to worry about what is needed in the basic human life, this includes fighting, food, shelter, and justice. In this young grade I recall vividly of not having a worry for any necessities that play a key part in everyday life. When I was told to go to lunch I ended up eating the food given, but I was knowledgeable on how it got on my plate; moreover, there seemed to be peace and a lack of physical violence throughout the grade. This thought of having peace, food, little work, and having a roof over your head in the first grade shares many similarities with what man experienced in the golden age. In the first grade I did not understand the idea where justice and peace develops from; however, reflecting on this now I can understand how this is something that I would have found to be insignificant while being in the first grade. When I went to the first grade the safety protocols were not as commonly practiced as they are current day. I had felt a sense of safety even though I may not have been able ... • 12. Golden Age Of Athens Athens had what is known as its Golden Age between 480 and 430 BCE, and while it was a relatively short period of time, it laid the foundations of western civilization. As the Golden Age dawned, the autonomous poleis (city states) that had formed in the preceding two to three centuries had set aside their differences and united to face the threat of invasion posed by the Persian Empire. Though vastly outnumbered, the Greeks had finally defeated the Persian armies in 480 BCE. In the years of peace that followed, the Greeks made significant advances in art, literature, science and philosophy, as pride and patriotism drove them to greater heights of creativity and in Athens, an experiment with a new kind of government flourished under the statesman Pericles. Prior to about 600 BCE, Athens had been an oligarchy, with an aristocratic minority controlling its government. But enlightened Athenian leaders began instituting reforms to the city s government between 600 and 500 BCE. Solon (c. 638 558 BCE) introduced a new code of laws that was less harsh than Athens existing legal code (laid out by an Athenian statesman called Draco, hence the term draconian to describe repressive laws) , and also set up a Popular Assembly of Citizens, although a council of aristocrats still made the laws. Cleisthenes (c. 570 508 BCE) known as the Father of Democracy expanded democracy still further, creating a Council of 500, which consisted of 50 representatives from each Greek tribe. He ... These sediment scrapes were frozen at 20°C for subsequent analysis. In the laboratory, 5g of the sediment was air dried, gently crushed and passed through a 2mm sieve. Particle size distribution of the 2 mm fraction was undertaken following Malvern Mastersizer protocol (v1.3) (http://www.geog.cam.ac.uk/facilities/laboratories/techniques/psd.html) at the University of Cambridge. Only one sample was taken at each of the Northern Irish sites, when this was not possible, the Agri Food and Biosciences Institute, supplied data on sediment particle sizes. Comparative particle size distribution indices (Logarithmic mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and skew) were calculated according to Folk and Ward (1957) and analysed using GRADISTAT software (Folk Ward, 1957; Blott Pye, 2001). Particle size distribution was recorded at the site level for the Northern Irish sites, but was highly resolved for Essex and Morecambe (three replicates per quadrat within each sites), requiring us to standardise the data across locations. To do so, we first tested for significant differences between the three replicate samples taken at each quadrat within each site, and upon finding no significant differences, pooled replicates giving a quadrat mean. We then tested for significant differences in sediment properties within each pooled quadrat at each site, which were not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In proposing that the people were now governed by a single God, the Deuteronomists then proceeded to emphasize the superiority of their God with regard to the Gods that were worshipped by the surrounding nations[4]. The superiority of YHWH necessarily supposed that the Israelites were obliged to obey him, thus re affirming the Ten Commandments given to Moses by YHWH on Mt.Horeb. YHWH s position was portrayed to the Israelites as one of supreme power, but also one of abounding love and compassion towards his followers. This in turn allowed Deuteronomy to make reference to the punishments applicable to those who did not believe in the God of the Israelites (7:1 5). Such punishments were seen to be wholly necessary for those who turned against YHWH and refused to obey him[5]. The refutation of polytheistic beliefs within Deuteronomy naturally led to the rejection of any symbol or object being erected by the people in the place of YHWH (5:8; 4:1 40). The Deuteronomists assumed that YHWH would never fully reveal himself to the Israelites and therefore refuted the formulation of images on the earth that were erected and worshipped as YHWH. The development of these theories founded what is now modern physics. These theories also gained Newton attention and credibility in the scientific community, which further helped spread his accomplishments. The discovery of these laws, laid down a basic foundation for the physics of motion. Newton s three laws of gravity changed the way in which the world was perceived, because of their accuracy in describing many unexplained phenomenons.3 They explained what happens as a result of different variables, but most importantly, they explained why and how these actions happen. Like many of Isaac Newtons ideas and theories, the three laws of motion had a profound impact on the scientific community. The three laws of motions provided an explanation for almost everything in macro physics. Macro Physics is the branch of physics that deals with physical objects large enough to be observed and treated directly.4 This allowed for many new advancements in physics because the foundation had been build for others to develop upon. Isaac Newton published these findings in his revolutionary book The Principa . The Principa was revolutionary book because it organized the bulk of his life s work, More importantly the ... However, this is a much more complicated issue because it is very difficult, if not nearly impossible, for a strong, able bodied man to earn enough money on his own to support his family and keep his children in school as long as the law requires. This leads to parents not putting their children in school, lying about their ages, and sending them to work in factories so that they can help provide for their families. • 26. Knowledge Through Sense Perception, Emotion, Language, And... Knowledge can be defined as information gained through sense perception, emotion, language and reason, while it is defined by Plato as justified true belief. The claim that knowledge takes the form of a combination of stories and facts is however not accurate in history and biology. First, it brings up the questions of what are stories and what are facts. Stories are accounts of past events from somebody s perspective, while a fact is the truth. When looking at the two areas of knowledge, they each favour one side of the combination over the other. For example, knowledge from history mostly takes the form of stories, while knowledge from biology mostly takes the form of facts. This distinction between the different types of knowledge leads to the knowledge questions of How do we obtain knowledge in the different areas of knowing? and To what extend is knowledge in certain areas of knowledge subjective or objective? When studying history, the way to obtain knowledge from it is to use primary and secondary sources, because we can only use sources from the events of past, and we cannot actually perceive the events. By the reason of that, I believe that history is an area of knowledge that is mostly made up of stories, and what we call history is the modern interpretation of those stories. This is because when I was studying about the atomic bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I found out that primary sources such as newspaper articles from America had bias in them. They ... • 28. How Does Watching Tv Corrupts The Mind When people generally think of television, most may assume it rots the mind. Freelance writer Rachel Krantz not only believes that TV is not useful for your mind, it may kill you, decrease your chances of having kids, ruin the ones you do have, and possibly turn you violent. Could any of this have happened to me as I was binge watching The Simpsons from seasons one to eight during the summer? I initially thought that this show was prone to dumb me down as I did this, but instead it enlightened me through its clever writing. Even with gags as dumb as an old man hurt by a football thrown to his groin, I felt as if no other show was as thoughtful and full of heart as The Simpsons. Despite that Krantz s claims are backed by academic studies and research on television, it should be the least concern for our minds. Television does not rot our minds; it intellectually challenges and aptly adjusts our minds depending on how we use it. The further time a kid spends watching television, the larger their brains grow. That seems great, although apparently this is considered unhealthy for them. A recent Japanese study reveals that as kids between ages 5 through 18 spend, on average, two hours of watching TV per day, certain areas of their brains were growing. The rise in brain volume of these kids was linked to a fall in their verbal IQ. However, the data in this study was not clear if TV watching caused this (Sanders). The Causes For The Emergence Of Speech The Causes for the Emergence of Speech in Humans By Fazrurnaguib Paharuddin Since the beginning of time, humans utilized the mechanism of speech to interact with each other and to gain specific needs and benefits. The emergence of Homo sapiens finally revolutionized the way humans achieve what they wants. Humans are assumed as a magnificent creature and consequently each cultures has its own tale on how we became exist and prominent on the Earth (Long, 1963). Speech and language are among the pivotal keys to the purposes of social communication. In this paper, I will discuss about the foundation of speech in humans. The study of this topic is hard and controversial because there is no direct evidence linking the reasons and the theories. For this reasons, scholars from many different areas have come up with varieties of ideas and speculation to resolve the causes and the chain events of reactions that lead to the emergence of speech in humans. Humans extraordinary ability to make use of the mouth for speech caused scholars to deduce that this evolution is a compelling progression (Fitch, 2000). To get the matter at hand precise and concise, I will select a few theories that I found fascinating and analyze them. The advantages and disadvantage of these theories will be looked at to determine which of them best answers the real justification of the development of speech in humans. Teenage girls are not ready to physically give birth to their child. Their bodies need to mature before being able to give birth to a baby safely (Durrett, 18). Raising a baby is too hard for teens because they often are not yet prepared. Teenage girls, still have an education to finish and a future to plan. They are not financially prepared to have a baby and will rely too much on parents or guardians. When an abortion has failed or even thought about, there will be hurt. Pro choice supporters believe unhealthy relationships will occur between mother and child because of being unwanted. The baby will feel unloved and worthless and that will be key for the relationship going down the gutter. There will be too much conflict for both of them to handle and this will cause a terrible life for both the child and mother. They believe there should be no debate over what someone else should do with their own body. Another difference is whether the fetus is a baby. Pro choice say the fetus is not a person yet, therefore it is not murder. A baby is a person when it takes its first breath outside of the womb. Hieronymus Bosch, a Renaissance era painter from the Netherlands and most popular for his invention of Early Netherlandish style paint, depicts his take on human s overindulgence of the vices through a world famous piece titled The Garden of Earthly Delights . Created as a triptych, a three part painting divided into three separate panels, The Garden tells the story of humanity s empire, from the pure creation of man, to the corrupted result of man s overindulgence in the vices. Bosch s heavily references a biblical story, particularly of Adam and Eve, in this piece, a trait common in Early Netherlandish paintings. This painting style makes reference to biblical works as well as heavily emphasizes the use of shadows and light, allowing for the natural aspects of the landscape, animals, and humans within it to appear more life like.
