The American Dream is an american ideal that no matter of your background, financial status, or
race, everyone has an equal opportunity to be successful in many aspects such as financially. The
American Dream gives everyone an equal opportunity to do anything with your life that you would
like to do. The possiblities that comes with freedom in the united statesare very appealing to
immigrants which causes them to come over to the united states. Imagine moving to a whole new

The Use Of The Sit-In Movement In The Civil Rights Movement
The sit in movement acted as a major protest and turning point for the Civil Rights Movement. The
sit ins highlighted the main moral issue that was being fought: racial discrimination and
segregation. Blacks utilized the strategies of nonviolence and student involvement in order to
combat the moral issue of racial segregation ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). The appeal for human
rights through the use of nonviolencewas an important strategy utilized by blacks during the Civil
Rights movement and in particular the sit inmovement. The students who initiated the sit ins were
heavily trained on non violence tactics ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). These tactics were often
taught through workshops on nonviolence that taught them how to take the blows and respond
with a sense of dignity (Vivian, Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). Such training was useful, as whites
often responded with violence. While protesters were sitting at the counter, they found themselves
attacked by whites, while the police did nothing to protect them ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ).
Likewise, the residence of Z. Alexander Looby was bombed ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ).
However, the violence perpetrated by whites was only used against them as blacks intended to whip
the enemy with something that he doesn t understand : that something being peaceful resistance
(McCain, 116). This peaceful resistance was crucial for the success of the movement, as

Social Dominance Theory
A major point of social dominance theory is that all humans belong to various groups. There are
powerful groups that provide status and authority and there are powerless groups as children that
are easy targets of violence. Some adults sexually abuse a child to feel the power and control they
don t feel in their relationships with other adults. Sometimes, adults who have intimate sexual
relationships with other adults may sexually abuse children in moments of unusual stress. Other
adults are primarily sexually attracted to children and act impulsively when presented with an
unexpected opportunity to sexually abuse a child. Each person who sexually abuses a child is
motivated by issues unique to that individual. Some adults who sexually abuse children recognize
that it is wrong and are deeply repentant. Other adults believe their behavior is okay and that what
they do shows their love for children. b.Psychological Explanation:... Show more content on

There is no single profile that accurately describes or accounts for all child molesters. There are
many variables among individuals in terms of their personal characteristics, life experiences,
criminal histories, and reasons for committing such offenses. One common misconception is that
molested children grow up to become child molesters themselves. Most adults who sexually use
or abuse children were, during their own childhoods, abandoned, abused sexually, physically, and
/or emotionally. In reaction to those experiences of abuse, neglect, betrayal and powerlessness,
they may have attempted to find feelings of power and control over others including sexual power
over children. Some people who sexually use or abuse children have high social status in a group

The Meaning Of Islam And Islam
The meaning of Islam is submission to one God. The central point or belief in Islam is to believe
in the existence of only one God or Allah. The religion revolves around this one belief known as
tawhid. This idea occurs in other religions such as Judaism and Christianity. All of these authentic
religions speak of the same God as Islamis the reassertion of the revelation of God to Abraham,
Noah and Christ. Islam considers these great figures as prophets and they are included in the
Quran, the holy book of Islam. Quran which is the word of God says that there are ninety nine
names of God which are distributed into Perfection, Majesty, and Beauty. Some of them include: the
Just, the Majestic, the Giver of Death, the Victorious, the All Powerful, the All Merciful, the
Forgiver and the Generous.
The belief in the Oneness of God is very essential as the most basic testifications or shahadas state:
There is no god but God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God. Allah has defined
human beings not as sinful but as beings that carry their primordial nature but negligence has
made them forget that nature. Islam was sent for remembrance of the knowledge of the One. For
this reason, the greatest sin acquired by human beings is not disobedience as said in Christianity
but it is shirk which is denying the Oneness of God and taking a partner onto God. God has
provided the human race with the intelligence for them to know the One and no forget and shirk is
a crime that would

Alter Public Space Research Paper
How does one alter public space? The altering of public spaces means to change the atmosphere
of a public area in either a positive or negative way. Some people alter public space based off
their appearance, and others with their actions. There are many ways to alter public space, and it
happens way more than one may realize. There are not many times in my life where I distinctly
remember altering public space, but there are a few significant times that stand out to me. The three
most pivotal and memorable experiences that I have had in which I altered public spaceare the
tornado on April 27, 2011, when I first moved to Alabama from Ohio, and when I went to a
camp in Colorado for 5 weeks. The most memorable of these three events is the 2011 tornado. I
remember watching the weather channel as it was spotted heading toward Tuscaloosa, only for
the power to go out minutes later. I remember going to the heart of the devastation that evening
and just walking around amazed as I looked around at what looked like a war zone at the time.
The very next day my family and I went out into devastated areas and handed out food and water
to those who lost their homes. It was in doing this that I can look back and notice how I altered...

I moved away most of those friendships died off and I hardly got to see any of them again. I did

I previously had. This altered public space because I no longer had any influence, whether it was

Examples Of Shareholder Value Analysis
The Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) was created in 1986 by Dr. Alfred Rappaport and LEK
/Alcar Consulting Group. Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA)
in his book Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model.
It has gained publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is
not as widely used as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value
Analysis (SVA) is probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA) (www.5paisa.com
/scho/ch09.html,www.lek.com)
The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows
in order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the
firm. Measurement of the current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to calculate the shareholder value the values of marketable security along with other
investment have to be added together but the value of debt has to be subtracted from the valuation
of the business. Free cash flow gives an idea about the cash flows from the operation of a business
for a particular period under consideration. However, this free cash flow will not take into account,
financing related cash flows which include cash flows from issues of shares or issue of debt,
dividend and interest payment etc (www.cimaglobal.com, 2004).
Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) can be defined as the difference between wealth created for the
shareholder for a particular period when compared to wealth created for the shareholder at the end
of the previous period. Therefore, the difference in the wealth created in the shareholders between
two periods gives an idea about the true economic wealth that is created for the shareholder as well

Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education
America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and
Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope,
their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly
slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that
we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading
articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same
opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor
disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack
of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that
all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major
disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin
once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is
faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the same opportunities needs to wake
up. This is not playtime, there are boys and girls who are struggling for basic needs. Right here in
America their are kids in: East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey, Washington D.C., Bronx New York,
San Antonio Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit Michigan, and Alabama who are
not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced with but not limited to
poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient healthcare, hunger and
unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in America , the bottom 98% of the
population is black. Вѕ live below poverty level and make less than $7,500 a year. According to
Savage Inequalities, a mother says, it s a terrible way to live (13). The city was so poor it had to lay

Descent
The Most Beautiful Death
The short film, Descent is about a dying man and his very vivid memories shown through dance.
The movie won many awards including, the Van Gogh Award at the Amsterdam Film Festival and
Best Music and Dance at the Global Short Film Award. The film also won the Excellence film
award from Indie Fest.
The entire film is less than five minutes but it has so much content in it. I m usually not the kind of
person that watches live performances or goes to dance recitals. I have trouble understanding them
and this film was no exception, but it was so beautiful to watch that I m not upset that I wasn t sure

In front of the wall are three men with black trash bags over their faces. They are reaching out in
different directions and ripping open the bag. They pull themselves up off the floor and begin
their dance. It is beautiful and mesmerizing and I ve watched it several times. There are
moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three
men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the
woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise
and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing
it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her
movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different
ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out
his substance from his body while he dies in her arms.
Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close
my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. It has a haunting tone to it
that makes you wonder about your own life and what your memories would look like if someone

Mongol Battle Tactics
The Mongols were a ruthless group of nomads who spent their time spreading fear into the people
of Asia and Europe during the post classical age, around 1200 1400 C.E. The conquered the largest
land empire of all time prior to themselves and possessed one the most devastating armies ever to
set foot on the Earth. They spent their time under their most well known leader, Genghis Khan,
attacking and expanding their massive empire that many are familiar with today. The Mongols,
throughout their relatively short two hundred years in power, built an astronomically large empire,
in this short amount of time due to their intellect, strategy, and technology as well as the brute force
of their army. To start, the Mongols massive army was successful in capturing many lands due to

attack they needed to secure victory against the opposing forces. The total aspects of these Mongol
battle tactics stemmed from brute force and psychological warfare. By having these tools the
Mongols spent their time before invasion spying on their enemies, thus finding the best way to
defeat them. The purpose of this article was to explain to other Mongols, as passed through oral
tradition, of their battle tactics, to either be used again, or even to encourage the people of the
empire that they were the greatest. This shows the Mongols supreme ability to outwit their
opponents and with that, defeat many people, with great speed, better than anyone prior to them

whom, all in their own works, successfully took over their surrounding lands with immense power

HIV Treatment Adherence Essay
Treatment adherence is critical for HIV positive individuals, but many find it challenging to
maintain. Sarita D. Boyd (2011) conducted a review of currently recommended treatment guidelines
for patients managing HIV infection, including adherence obstacles and benefits.
According to Boyd, HIV treatment should consist of antiretroviral therapy and routine health
monitoring, but many patients often defer treatment and fail to report for monitoring appointments.
Reasons for this failure to adhere to the treatment plan vary depending on the individual patient, and
the situation may be further complicated by differing medical opinions and lack of resources and
opportunity for the patient.
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the current standard for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cost of these drugs is a major obstacle to treatment adherence because they are expensive,
averaging $22,000.00 to $32,000.00 annually for consistent treatment (Boyd, 2011). Several
government programs cover initial HIV screening costs but not life time care, so many patients only
take their medicines as their finances allow
(Boyd, 2011). This nonadherence leads to the development of drug resistance which increases
transmission potential and decreases treatment options (Boyd, 2011). Efavirenz is a fixed dose
ART combining tenofovir and emtricitabine (Boyd, 2011). It offers once daily dosing and is
currently the simplest and least expensive protocol available. Due to deferred treatment options,
less pills, once daily dosing, fewer side effects and improved drug potency, HIV patients are
reporting increased treatment adherence and better treatment success (Boyd, 2011). More efforts
must be made to insure treatment adherence throughout the entire life of the patient.
Another hindrance to early diagnosis and program adherence lies in the communication skills and
comfort levels of patient and physician. The article HIV prevention efforts mired in patient denial,
physician discomfort (2011) examines the attitudes of both patients

Differences Of The North And South During The 1800s
During the 1800s, life in America was very different depending on where, on the map, people were
located, the North or the South. The North and the South were different in three ways,
economically, politically, and, lastly, socially. Even through their differences, there were also a few
simularites. To begin, the Northand South were different economically mainly because one, the
North, was an Industrial economy, and the other, the South, was an Agricultural economy. Meaning,
in the North, they mainly made their money through northern factories and inventions. Middle class
workers would work up to twelve to fourteen hour shifts in factories to make a little income. The

In the North, the owners of factories tended to be more wealthy. The more wealthier the person is,
the more likely they could run in politics. These wealthy factory owners tended to hold the most
political power because they were mainly looked up to in the northern society. People assumed
that if they were rich they must be smart or important, making the rich perfect canidates to be

immigrants and free African Americans had little to no political power, meaning, their say was of
no importance. In the South, the plantation owners, or people with more than five slaves, tended to
hold the most political power. Slave owners lived in beautiful large homes and acted as though they
were wealthy Europeans, attracting the attention of many. People in the South looked up to the
wealthy, similar to the North. Their elegant homes and beautiful life threw these plantation owners
right to the top of the political power. In the South, whites with no slaves had some political power
but not nearly as much as the plantation owners did. People with no politcal power, would be the
free African Americans and slaves. As made clear, the wealthy, in both the South and the North,
held the most politcal power and usually took role as political

Capitalism And Feudalism
Marx and Engels suggested that the bourgeois revolution destroyed everything that was once held
sacred because people had to give up their dreams, passions, and occupations in order to provide
for themsel The alienation of labor added insult to injury because workers were forced to sell
themselves into slavery.
The destruction of the feudalism, and the industrial revolution was what created capitalism. During
the 19 century, the industrial revolution had allowed the once impoverished to become obtain
wealth through manufacturing and creating jobs, which created new oppressors. The workers that
they employed were alienated because they could afford the products they made while working
harsh hours in horrible conditions. Which lead Marx to create the Communist Manifesto, which
divided people into two classes: the property owners (Bourgeoisie) and the workers (proletariat) .
He did this because felt pity for the workers and wanted to go back to simpler times and knew
industrial societies were developed enough to have a workers revolution. This had led revolutions
because the people he called the proletariat were outraged and wanted a better standard of living.
Thus, leading to future revolutions throughout the world.
To understand how capitalism started must first know what feudalism was. Feudalism was a
medieval hierarchal power structure of King s, Nobles Knights, Peasants , and Serfs etc. The King
ruled what was known as divine rights of kings. The king s rule was

Theories Of Spiral Of Silence
1.Spiral of Silence a.Spiral of Silence theory states that one s view of the spread of public
opinion encourages one s willingness to voice out political opinions. Individuals who realise that
their own personal opinions are shared throughout a group will voice these opinions with
confidence in public; those who realise that their opinions are losing ground will be prone to take
on a more withdrawn attitude and stay silent (Glasser 264). b.During dinner, the jury discretely

The U.S people s support for the Gulf War in 1991 was measured in a research. It was to
determine if it was a consensus view or media coverage contributed to a spiral of silence that
dampened opposition to the war. Based on the survey that asked for individuals opinions, the
respondents were clearly less supportive of the war as compared to the popular support portrayed
by the media. Respondents who watched television and believed that the public supported the war
were very likely to support the war too. Hence, this study supports the spiral of silence and
suggests that the bandwagon effects influence people ( Spiral of Silence ). 2.Agenda Setting

It is shocking to see how the Capitol expects the Districts to treat the Hunger Games like a festivity,
so that they can enjoy the suffering of the tributes as pure entertainment, while being tortuous for

The future holds the emerging field of bio hacking. This term refers to a practice of part body
modification, and part computer hacking. Last year, artist Anthony Antonellis implanted an RFID
chip in his hand that could store and transmit one kilobyte of information through a tiny
antennae. This also brings to mind, Rich Lee, a salesman from Utah who implanted sound
transmitting magnets in his ears. The magnets are powered by a coil apparatus that includes a
little amplifier and battery pack and plugs into Lee s Walkman. The coil creates an
electromagnetic field that vibrates the magnets in his ears and creates sound comparable to a

The Effects of Internet Addiction Disorder and Technological Tools.
Problematic Internet Use
The issue of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become a topic of discussion for the newer
generations exposed to technological tools (smartphones, tablets etc.). Considering the
effectiveness of computer mediated communication (CMC) compared to the traditional face to
face, there is a larger chance to become addicted to the internet since technological tools have been
developed to be conveniently accessible. Using technological tools as a mediator, it can be possible
that individuals prefer CMC due to the three main components that it offers: anonymity,
asynchronicity, and accessibility (Valkenburg Peter, 2011). With this being said, it can... Show more

The wide range of tools offered by different social networking sites can factor into the frequent
use of technological tools and the internet. Using Facebook as an example, it can be fairly easy to
control the information and media posted onto a user s profile. Burke Ruppel (2015) suggest that
for the most part, people have the ability to control the information and pictures they post on
Facebook (in addition to controlling the dissemination of others information about them, such as by
deleting wall posts or removing tags that identify them in others pictures), giving them the tools to
convey a desired impression to others. Being able to control and avoid certain insecurities on their
online profile is what makes sites like Facebook display a social medium between text and media
posted while conducting research.
Communication effectiveness overall in Computer mediated friendships
Taking in consideration the amount of time spent on the internet actively engaging with others, it is
more than likely that friendship development online will become a common preference amongst
adolescences in the foundation of establishing and maintaining relationships. Overall, CMC has
effected the way we communicate with others online. Unlike face to face communication, it is

Different Types Of Protocol Identifiers
A protocol identifier is nothing but the name of the protocol to be used to fetch the resource, e.g.

different types of resources on the net. Several other prefixes exist as listed below:

The difference is that a URI can be used to describe a file s name or location, or both, while a URL
specifically defines a resource s location.
URL PARAMETERS
The first part of the URL is called a Protocol Identifier and it indicates what protocol to use, and the
second part is called a Resource Name and it specifies the IP Addressor the domain name where
the resource is located. The protocol identifier and the resource name are separated by a colon
and two forward slashes. Each time the client taps on the connection URL finds the archive to
be recovered. URL Parameters are parameters whose values are set dynamically in a page s
URL, and can be accessed by its template and its data sources. This makes pages incredibly
dynamic, enabling a single page to power an endless number of views. This very page, for
example, sets a parameter in the last bit of its URL (url parameters), which is then used to filter
a data source that fetches the appropriate entry from the Concepts section. Every individual
Concept view on this site is thus powered by a single page. You can insert URL parameters into
your URLs so that your URLs track information about a click. URL parameters are made of a key
and a value separated by an equals sign (=) and joined by an ampersand ( ). The first parameter
always comes after a question mark in a URL. For example, http://example.com?product=1234

Scanlon And Wilkinson s Two Main Reasons For The...
Both Scanlon and Wilkinson give instrumental arguments against socio economic inequalities. First
both views are summarized, after which the main differences between their views is highlighted.
Scanlon gives five diverse reasons for the elimination of inequalities in societies (Scanlon, 1996: 2
5). The first reason is at base a humanitarian concern, for example to alleviate suffering. If some
people are living under terrible conditions, the gap between the rich and the poor provides the
opportunity to reduce the suffering of those people, without causing others to suffer a similar fate.

The first main difference is that the argument Wilkinson gives is based on empirical data
analysis, while Scanlon s reasons are not. The second main difference is that we need to reduce
inequality in order to improve the average well being of our societies , because inequalities lead
to deteriorations in social relations, health and human capital according to Wilkinson, but
according to Scanlon we don t always need to intervene to reduce inequality. The force of the
first reason Scanlon gives for the elimination of inequalities fades away if the situation of both
rich and poor greatly improves, also if the difference between them is the same or has even
increased. The same goes for the third reason Scanlon gives for objecting inequality: if inequality
doesn t give some people an unacceptable degree of control over the lives of other, then inequality
is allowed. Also the fourth reason for pursuing equality can be compatible with large inequalities,
it is only required that they result from a fair process. The last reason Scanlon gives in his article
might also be a fairly weak one. If it is assumed that other things equal, all individuals have equal
claims to welfare, then much depends on how many things there are that might not be equal. For
example, people ought to be equal in the levels of welfare they enjoy, except for differences in
welfare resulting from people s own free choices, which may also result in inequality. Only
according to the second reason Scanlon gives for objecting inequality we always need to
eliminate the differences in question. The third main difference is that Scanlon s second reason
for objecting inequality is that people should not be treated as inferior or made to feel inferior and
therefore people need to be protected against reasonable and undeserved feelings of loss of self
esteem, but according to Wilkinson that s not a reason for objecting inequality, though

Technology and Copyright
Introduction
Digital and networking technology have vastly reshaped the way the world acquires and uses
knowledge; by increasing the amount of creative content that is available to everyone worldwide
and the variety of sources from which an individual can choose to acquire that data. This content is
often created by many individuals collaborating to form large groups of people who all contribute
creative content. Intellectual property (IP) is the content that is created by either an individual or a
group of individuals. The distribution of free content, software, and ideas has successfully limited
many societies dependency for established channels of distribution and production [cyberethics].
More and more however as the internet becomes a digitally real the ability to go to the internet and
escape the established channels of distribution has become increasingly difficult, concerns over the
legal issues with the way some, or at times most, of the ways material is acquired. Some experts
believe that intellectual property laws have stifled the access to many of these works, and in doing
so have decreased the rate at which the creative content can expand, grow, and progress. Laws like
the Digital Millennial Copyright Act (DMCA) and the Copyright Term Extension Act (CTEA) have
shifted, perhaps unfairly, the balance between intellectual property owners and the general users of
these creative works. These laws have been put into affect for the sole

Oppression of Women Depicted in The Yellow Wallpaper
In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman shows that the American principle of liberty did not apply to all
Americans in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Specifically it shows that this
principle was not given to women. In The Yellow Wallpaper, Gilman shows that
American society at the time was oppressive toward women and that it was dangerous for
women to fight back. She establishes a female narrator that is oppressed literally and
symbolically by the men in her life and the society she lives in. This oppression causes the
narrator, who is suffering from what is probably a post partum depression, to sink lower and lower
into the depths of insanity. Her cries for help go unheeded by her husband and she ... Show more

Her husband s numerous attempts to restrain and confine her only serve to worsen her condition.
Throughout The Yellow Wallpaper
, Gilman shows not only the restraint and confinement of the
narrator, but also, symbolically, the restraint and confinement of females in American society of
the time. The narrator is imprisoned in the room that contains the yellow wallpaper. The house
that contains it is surrounded by hedges and gates that lock . At the top of the stairs is a gate
that keeps the narrator from leaving the top floor. The windows of the room itself are barred.
The narrator is kept in this room without possibility for escape, much as women of American
society at the time were kept in their place without possibility for escape. She is kept to a rigid
schedule each day that she is not allowed to deviate from. Both the narrator and women of the
time were often considered to not know enough to make intelligent decisions for them. Women
in general and the narrator specifically, were considered to be childlike, hysterical and physically
weak. The narrator is placed in a child s nursery. She is considered to be suffering from female
hysteria. Her husband has to physically carry her up the stairs at one point. She is considered to
be silly and unintelligent. . . . he . . . called me a blessed little goose . . . These thoughts were

Toleration And Discrimination In The Movie Freedom Writers
Have you ever been discriminated or treated differently because who you are and what your
color is? Well in the movie Freedom Writers the characters work on toleration and acceptance
through reading and writing. Since they are from the city of long beach of California that wasn

person in the beginning. She didn t even want anything to do with her teacher Mrs. Gruwell
because that fact that she was white. ( that s why I hate white people on sight because they took
my dad away from me for no reason they just took him because they could ) Or any other white
people in general. In the middle Eva was holding back a little. As she read and wrote more she
realized she wanted to have tolerance but she kept going by Protect your own so she did just that.
When the whole situation where the Cambodian got shot by someone in her car and she had to go
on trial for it since she was a main whiteness. But once she got up to the stand, when everyone s
eyes were on her, and they were blankly staring at her waiting for her to give her statement, she told
the truth. Paco did it, Paco shot the boy . Everyone thought she was going to protect her own but she
didn t, she exposed him and told the truth. By the end Eva had learned tolerance though reading the
Anne Frankbook and writing her diary s. She also learned sometimes by telling the truth, it has

A Scientist, By Aldous Huxley
When thinking of a scientist, the visual that often comes to mind would be that of a curious,
patient individual slaving away in a sterile environment. Scientists are often viewed by society as
quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific
discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries,
although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories.
Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from
their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much
less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However,
those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate
occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward
by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to
flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed
society to become utopian. In Brave New World, author Aldous Huxley presents the reader with a
fanciful tale of scientific conquest and social upheaval, which ultimately degrades his reputation as
a credible scientist. Aldous Huxley, unlike many of his peers, was born into a highly prominent
family of intellectuals. His

Effects Of Stress On The Body
Memory performance can often be hijacked by a given load of stress on the body. Stress is both a
versatile agent that disrupts the human body s normal mental, physical, and emotional state, and
the body s natural reaction to change (Staal, 2004). The effects of this amorphous phenomenon
have been studied from a number of angles including but not limited to stress related sleep pattern
disturbances, mood swings, attention spans, weight gain, long term illnesses, and cognitive
function. This review will focus on the effects of psychological stress on people s ability to encode,
store, and retain memories. When the human body is presented with a stressful situation, the body
enters a state of emergency called the fight or flight response, also known as the acute stress
response. Involuntarily, the body s sympathetic nervous system is aroused and releases adrenaline,
norepinephrine, and cortisol from the adrenal glands of the brain. These hormones trigger a series
of physiological responses facilitating acceleration in heart rate and breathing, constriction of blood
vessels, relaxed bladder, inhibition of metabolic digestion, tightened muscles, and sharper vision due
to pupil dilation. This is a result of the human body instinctively protecting itself from threat of pain
or injury by shutting down all of the nonessential systems, and supplying the bodily systems needed
to respond to the emergency with its necessary components, like sufficient amounts of oxygen and

Summary Of Digging By Seamus Heaney
The free verse poem called Digging by Seamus Heaney is about a boy who admires his father s
work, but wants to be different from him. The poem takes place at a farm in Toner s Bog; we
know this because during the time when he flashes back, the father and grandfather are working
on digging, and also because they are harvesting potatoes it must be on a farm. The poem is
about the speaker who is a boy, and who wants to be someone different from his father. He looks
out the window when he hears a rasping sound of his father putting the spade into the ground, and
then he flashes back 20 years before. Although he admires the work his father does, he himself

Palestino Masks Research Paper
Venetian Masks Many centuries ago the people of Venice, Italy began wearing Venetian masks to
certain gatherings or even sometimes to conceal their identity while committing crimes. Venetian
masks have become a tradition over the many centuries but remain very beautiful and extremely
intricate. There are many different types of masks, each with their own design, use, history and
significance. (The Mascherade) There is little known about why people started wearing Venetian
masks in the first place, but the first documentation was in the 13th century a document banning
men in masks to throw eggshells full of rose water to women on the street, the same document also
bans gambling and vulgar masks. Many mask designs and names originate from Commedia dell

columbina is a mask that covers the top half of the wearer s face and is often heavily decorated

important parties. The arlecchino is a joker like mask usually with a large headpiece and collar.
An arlecchino mask is worn to an april fools party, halloween, or just for fun. Lastly the bauta is
a full face mask with a square jaw and no mouth., and the bauta was historically used for political
reasons but is now worn to make an impression at parties. (Vivo Masks) Venetian masks are still
crafted by hand, so because of this no two masks are the exact same. There are a lot of materials
involved in making a Venetian mask, the base of the mask is made of materials such as leather,
porcelain, paper mache or traditionally glass. Each mask also has add on decorations such as
feathers, rhinestones, gold or silver leaf, or lace that transform the mask into its own unique work

Compare/Contrast Two Literary Works

The two literary works that I chose to compare and contrast for this paper are I Used to Live
Here by Jean Rhys and The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. Symbolism of the journey is in
both of these written works and I feel that it makes them both stronger and more appealing to the
reader. When pieces of literature are able to touch a reader and make them feel alive I think that
the author is doing a fantastic job getting his message across. In The Road Not Taken, I feel like
Robert Frost is trying to play with each individual reader a little. By naming this poem The Road

I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.
I know that I can relate to this poem on a day to day basis, either in a good way or in a bad way. A
sigh for me can be good or bad, either I did or did not do my homework or assignment that is due.
That sigh can represent guilt or relief, depending on whether I turned in my work or not. I Used
to Live Here by Jean Rhys is about a young girl who is standing on the bank of the river and
remembering her life. In this short story she is describing her journey back to her house and
remembering everything in the exact detail that it happened, especially the stepping stone that
caused her death. She refers to the last stepping stone as unsafe . After reading this I came to the
conclusion that she has been dead for quite some time now. Her spirit had finally just risen and
decided it was time to go back home. When she was taking her usual route back home she was
saying the scenery was different to her, everything was wider and glassier. Over time a town can
change due to improvements needed, and at some point everything is bound to change. As she
arrives to her home she notices children, she tries calling out to them but they cannot hear her. As
she gets closer, one of the kids mention that suddenly it is cold and they go into their home. That is
the exact moment she finally notices that she is dead. This short story is a great example of
realizing what is there, even though it isn t clear

Moons Of The Terrestrial Planets
Moons of the Terrestrial Planets
2.2.Moons of Mars
2.2.1Introduction
Mars orbits at a distance of 1.52 AU from the Sun. Mars has two natural satellites, discovered by
Asaph Hall in 1877. The innermost of these, Phobos, is about 22.2 km in diameter
(27.0Г—21.6Г— 18.8) and orbits the planet with a period far less than Mars s period of rotation 7.7
hr. (only one quarter that of Deimos), causing it to rise in the west and set in the east(Born
Duxbury 1975). Thus, it makes more than 3 orbits in a single Martian day. As it orbits, it slowly
spirals in towards the Martian surface. Phobos is drawing closer to Mars by 2 meters every one
hundred years, and it is predicted that it will collide with the planet /or destroyed in the
atmosphere. Phobos has a semi major axis 9376 km (2.76 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0152 and orbit
mean inclination 1.1o (relative to Mars equator).
The outer satellite, Deimos, is about 12.6 km in diameter (15.0Г—12.2Г— 11.0) and orbital period
about 30 hr. In fact, Deimos is the smallest known moon in the Solar System. Like our own Moon,
Deimos orbits far enough away from Mars that it is being, slowly pushed farther and farther away
from the planet. Deimos has a semi major axis 23463.2 km (6.92 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0003
and orbit mean inclination 2.4o (relative to Mars equator).
Both Deimos and Phobos have very circular orbits, which lie almost exactly in Mars s equatorial
plane. They are both small, irregular objects comparable in size to the

The Importance Of Comprehensive Site Investigations And...
The importance of comprehensive site investigations and getting the right report, and by an EPA
accredited auditor can be seen in the court case Charben Haulage Pty Ltd v Environmental Earth
Sciences Pty Ltd (2004) FCA 403. In this case Caltex had obtained development consent from the
local council to decommission a suburban service station and remediate it to residential standards.
A condition of the consent was that an auditor accredited by the EPA would sign off the completed
decontamination.
A consultant issued a report to Caltex stating that the former service station site was suitable for
residential use, and the sale of the service station was completed relying on the report. The contract
of sale contained a condition that the site would be suitable for purposes permitted by its current
business zoning (in which residential flats were also permitted). However, the council then rejected
the consultants report, as an EPA accredited auditor had not signed it off.
The purchaser engaged its own accredited auditor, who recommended reporting to the authority
that the site posed significant risk of harm to human health and the environment because of
contaminated groundwater, off site migration, vapors and the presence of residential units down
slope. Work stopped for 10 months, with the council instituting proceedings in the land and
environment court to restrain work until an accredited auditor had validated the site, as required by
its development consent.

Online Education Essay
Online Education
Education is an important part of people s lives; it will either make them or break them in the
future depending on the careers they choose. Education is greatly diverse today in comparison to
the 1950s because of advancements in teaching and other great inventions that provide easier
techniques of teaching. One major issue that has been raised is distant learning courses and online
education. Distant learning could be any format from VHS videos, DVDs, or internet courses
online. Online education has been legal since 1993 and is a new way of teaching students of all ages.
Online education has been gaining popularity through out the years because of the ease of the

Discussion on issues is done in chat rooms and forums where everybody writes their views on the
issue. This is an advantage for foreigners who can not speak proper English correctly. Live video
and sound can also be done with special equipment for a real time conversation with instructors and
peers.
Other features on the online courses are the learning aides that can be used while taking the course.
Certain programs can be made such as flash cards and games which can increase the learning
experience of the student. These learning aides can be done on the student s time and does not
require the teacher to be there.
Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course
can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and
time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in
use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save
time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space.
Rural areas where students have to travel a great distance to get to class can save time and money
by doing online classes. For example, a child of a farmer can help the family out in the morning
with the farming chores then go to an online class later on. Rural kids may also take additional

The Importance of Sleep Essay
Sleep is an extremely interesting phenomenon in which the mind almost completely departs
from the usual realm of consciousness. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness and a
decreased ability to react to stimuli where we become less aware of our surroundings. However,
it is more easily reversed than being in hibernation or a coma. It is a function that has been
extensively researched by many. After all, we would not have evolved a mechanism that forces
us to spend one third of our lives sleeping unless sleep did us some good. What good does it do
tough? Over the years, many theories have been proposed as to why we need sleep. The simplest
is that it saves energy. An individual s energy expenditure and demand is reduced during the day,

A sleep deprived driver, believe it or not, is as dangerous as a drunk driver. Sleep also strengthens
learning and memory, including both motor skills and language related tasks. When you learn
something, your memory improves if you go to sleep within the next 3 hours, and it deteriorates
after a sleepless night. A good night s sleep can also improve learning the next day. When people
learn a new difficult motor task, such as a video game skill, the brain areas that are active during
the learning become reactivated during one s sleep that night. The brain replays the same patterns
they had during the day, only faster. The amount of functioning and activity in those areas during
sleep predicts the amount of improvement the next day. In learning, wakefulness and sleep play
complementary roles. Researchers have demonstrated that learning strengthens the appropriate
synapses during wakefulness and weakens other synapses during sleep. Therefore, REM sleep is
crucial for organizing pieces and the associations between them needed for forming lasting
memories. Organizing these pieces within your brain requires information gained through learning.
Learning is a complicated process that is completed subconsciously by gaining new knowledge and
skills and modifying previous ones. Three basic parts of learning include acquisition, consolidation,
and recall. During acquisition, the brain receives information and stores it within its neural circuits
as memory. This

Biography Of Isaac Newton s Three Laws Of Motion
Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, astronomer, and physicist who had developed his
three laws of motion by the age of 23. He was born in 1642 the same year the Italian astronomer
Galileo Galilei died. Galileo s work helped to influence or set the stage for the development and
creation of Newton s three laws. Newton s three laws of motion consists of the first law which is
the concepts of inertia, second law which is relating acceleration to its cause and lastly the third
law which is action and reaction. The laws of motion were interpreted in the most famous and
influential book of all time called, Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica created by
Newton in 1687. The book was often known as Principia used to explain and... Show more content

The only way to change an objects motion is for it to be impacted by an unbalanced force.
Next is Newton s second law of motion also known as the Law of Force and Acceleration . He
was the first to recognize the relationship between force and mass in the production of
acceleration. This discovery became one of the most central rules of nature that was able to
shape the form of physics. The law states; The acceleration of an object as produced by a net
force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net
force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object . This is usually expressed by the
equation Force= mass x acceleration (F=ma). The law also states that the smaller the object the
higher the acceleration there will be and vise versa the larger the object the smaller the
acceleration will be. The acceleration of an object depends on the net force acted on the object
and the mass of the object. If the mass and net force is both doubled then the acceleration will
remain unchanged. This law also gives a explanation for why objects with different masses are
able to fall with equal/same acceleration. If the object is only acted on by the gravitational force
then air resistance is negligible which is called free fall. During free fall the acceleration of the
objects also depends on its inertia and uses the equation Force/mass=gravity (F/m=g), g always

The United States s Reconstruction Policies During The...
By March 1863, Union forces had taken control of the sugar planting region and reported that all
the slaves had come within their lines. Fellow sugar planter Andrew McCollam reported that he
had only a few hands left and he doubted he would be able to do more than manage the seed cane.
Viguerie, along with hundreds of Louisiana soldiers, including William A. Bisland of Terrebonne,
surrendered on May 26, 1865 in New Orleans. Viguerie was paroled to New Iberia, Louisiana on
June 6, 1865. He was released shortly after. Louisiana was the only region deep within the
Confederacy where Union authorities implemented experimental Reconstruction policies during the
Civil War. Louisiana responded to President Abraham Lincoln
s plan to readmit southern states into
the Union by selecting delegates to write a new constitution. The Constitution of 1864 abolished
slavery and disposed of Louisiana s old order of rule by planters and merchants, although it did not
give African Americans voting power. It was the first state charter to incorporate Lincoln s
conciliatory approach and was the leading test case for postwar policy. Lincoln s Emancipation
Proclamationof 1863 did not apply to Union held territory. Thus, slavery continued in the thirteen
Louisiana parishes under Union control. After much debate, delegates to the constitutional
convention agreed to abolish slavery without compensation for masters but not to give the vote to
black men. The new constitution, however, authorized

Burmese pythons taking over the Everglades Imagine taking a walk in the Florida Everglades.
Now imagine that during that walk you come across a giant snake. In that snakes grip is a full
sized White tailed deer. The two are battling it out, but the snake is clearly winning, it does not
stand a chance against a full sized python. What could possibly be even worse than that would be a
Burmese python battling an alligator and winning? It has happened even though the snake did not
make it away from the fight. It looks like something out of a horror film and it is happening more
than people might think. This giant snake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many different efforts in place to slow the population growth of the Burmese python. Due
to the overwhelming amount of the non native pythons in the Everglades (which is expanding to
the Florida Keys and beyond) there has been a ban on Burmese pythons and 3 other constrictor
snakes. On January 17, 2012 the Federal Wildlife service declared a ban on overseas imports of
the snakes as well as interstate imports. That means the snakes are now illegal to bring into the
United States as well as just transporting over state lines (BIG snakes, 2012). Although there is
now a ban in place some feel that it is already too late to save the Florida Everglades. According
to Steven A. Williams, former director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) warns that
invasive species are the number one environmental threat to the United States. (BIG snakes,
2012) The federal government has spent billions of dollars trying to slow or stop the threat of
invasive species. In January 2013 in an effort to curb the python problem Florida began it s very
first ever python hunt. Thousands of hopeful hunters have signed up for a month long challenge
where prizes for the longest snake and others are up for grabs. People from around the country
have slithered their way to Florida in hopes of bagging a Burmese python or two. As of January 25th

Reaction Paper On Jurisprudence
Introduction: To understand the topic of philosophy of law first we have to understand what is
law? Law is nothing but a group or collection of some rules that regulates and control society or
country. Every country has different rules and laws. Like in India we drive a vehicle on the left
side of the road but in America we drive a vehicle on the right side of the road. There are also
some international laws like if you do any bad thing then you will be punished. Laws control human
behaviours. They restrict human to do bad things. Law is also important for equality, justice and
fairness.
Now we have developed some sense about what is law? Now look about the philosophy of law.
What is philosophy of law? Philosophy of law basically is a branch ... Show more content on

What is jurisprudence?
Jurisprudence:
Jurisprudence is the study of law. Scholars in jurisprudence try to obtain a deeper understanding
of laws of nature, legal laws and legal institutions. Jurisprudence tries to seek, analyze, explain and
classify the entire body of law. Jurisprudence is the science or philosophy of law. Jurisprudence
creates a body of law, methods for interpreting the law, studies the relationship between law and
society, predicts the effect of legal decisions. We can divide jurisprudence into two parts: (i) analytic
jurisprudence and (ii) normative jurisprudence.
Analytic jurisprudence:
Analytic jurisprudence is the branch of the legal philosophy. The principal objective of analytic
jurisprudence is to find the reasons that are differentiates laws as a system of norms from the
other system of norms as ethical norms. It provides sufficient conditions that distinguish law from
the non law. It attempts to analyze the laws and legal systems. Analytic jurisprudence is a legal
theory that tries to understand the laws of nature. It deals about the basic questions of law. Like
what is a law? What are laws? What is the relationship between law and power? What is the
relationship between law and morality? There are three theories of law that fall under analytic
jurisprudence (i) natural law theory, (ii) legal positivism and (iii) Ronald dworkin s

The Career Of A Professional Workplace
A professional workplace is an environment that produces numerous challenging situations and if
not handled correctly, could create a very unproductive organization. A well qualified employee is
selected to be responsible for controlling all or part of a company, including difficult situations
that arise between co workers. The term given to this worker is a manager; their main task in the
organization is to get things done through the efforts of other people. This may sound like a rather
simple task, but it is very deep and layered with different difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an
internationally renowned author on business and management, broke down the tasks a manager
faces into ten different interrelated roles. According to Mintzberg s managerial roles, there are
three categories that break up the ten roles a manager performs: Interpersonal, Informational, and
Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead, leader, and liaison. Informational includes
monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. Finally, Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance
handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is clear that being a manager is a demanding job
and it is not for the easily overwhelmed individual. There are numerous different research projects
that have been performed in hopes to discover a new way for managers to be more effective and
successful in their day to day activities. A remarkable amount of research supports that five basic
dimensions underlie most personality

Child Poverty In Canada
Global news reporter David Baxter published the news article 24 per cent of Saskatchewan
children live in poverty: report in November of 2017. Within the article, Baxter describes the
findings from a recent study from the University of Regina regarding the rates of child poverty in
Saskatchewan. The co authors of the study found that 24.1 per cent of children in Saskatchewan are
living in poverty, a number that rises to 50 per cent when First Nations children are considered
(Baxtor, 2017). Although the authors of the study acknowledge the current initiatives to combat
childpoverty in Saskatchewan, such as child tax benefits, it is suggested that the government could
be taking more progressive actions to resolve this issue. This article... Show more content on

While there are many different mechanisms at play in poverty, one of the most crucial
mechanisms is economic power. As stated by Knuttila (2017), economic power is a mechanism
of power that deals with control over the distribution of resources (p. 42). This aligns with the
claim made by Antony et al. (2017) that poverty is about how income and economic resources are
distributed through the labour market, which is really businesses and employers deciding who
will get paid what for which kind of work (p. 9). This idea is brought up in the news article with
the finding that the incomes of most impoverished families are below the poverty line (Baxter,
2016). As indicated by these authors, those that the structures of society have given considerable
economic power allow poverty to flourish because material resources (i.e., money in the form of
wages) are not being allocated equitably throughout society, making those with less economic
power suffer by receiving inadequate wages to sustain their

How Did Pueblo Indians Use Their Contributions To American...
The Pueblo Indians have taught a lot of people about their rich culture. The famous rebellion was
about the Pueblos breaking away from the Spanish. The techniques that they handed down about
farming and architecture that are still being used today. Without the contributions that they have
given to America, the country would not be where it is today. Throughout history the Pueblo
Indians have grown in culture tremendously, showing that they are a very complex group of
people. The Pueblo Indians had very diverse communities in their time. Pueblo history is made up
of six periods. The periods and their approximate dates are Late Basketmaker II (ad 100 500),
Basketmaker III (500 750), Pueblo I (750 950), Pueblo II (950 1150), Pueblo III (1150 1300), and

The Pueblos themselves were very intelligent and intricate. Throughout all Pueblos there are
certain factors that separate them; for example, the number of kivas or the gender of initiates into
the kachina cult (Hoxie 519). To avoid confusion among communities the leaders would keep the
languages in rituals precise, making sure it s understandable (Hoxie 521). If the leaders of
communities didn t make sure to use the same languages there would huge amounts of confusion
among the people. The communities wouldn t just have to keep one language in rituals, they
would also have to do the same for farming and other social interactions with people. Traditionally,
Pueblo peoples were farmers, with the types of farming and associated traditions of property
ownership varying among the groups ( Pueblo Indians 1). The Pueblos would originally be farmers
unless there was no good soil around, then they would become a nomadic type of group. Women in
Pueblo communities did the farming while the men hunted unless the hunting was scarce, then the
men would start farming as well ( Pueblo Indians

India s Economic Hegemony Over The World
During the nineteenth century, Britain exerted economic hegemony over the world. After World
War Two, the economic hegemonic power shifted to the United States, and the United States has
sustained this power ever since. Today, the United States remains the global economic hegemonic
power with a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) almost double that of any other country, with a 2013
GDP of $16.8 trillion. Unchallenged since the end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet
Union in 1992, the United Stateshas enjoyed a period of unipolarity in global economic affairs.
However, the emergence of economic giants, China and India to name a few, could threaten to alter
the 21st century balance of power by challenging the United States ... Show more content on

A nation that achieves economic hegemony must stand ready to stabilize financial flows in when
global crisis arise, for example natural disasters. To continue as a hegemon, the nation must
prevent other nations from replacing its economic power. It is of vital importance to the
Intelligence Community to assess other countries potential for challenging the United States as
a global economic hegemon. Both India and China are viewed globally as emerging global
economies. The recent economic rise of China and India should attract a great deal of attention.
Together, China and India account for one fifth of the global economy and are projected to
represent a full third of the world s income by 2025. Routinely, one finds a Made in China label
on manufactured goods or utilizes a company s help line that is located in India. As the world
becomes increasingly aware of the growing economies of India and China, one can articulate
how India stands a greater chance in challenging the United States economic power based on
reviewing their capital, labor force, and resources. To begin, an analysis of capital reveals China
has overtaken Japan to become the world s second largest economy. China s growth rate of 9 to
11 percent annually over the last 20 years, ranks first, with India not far behind at 8 percent in
recent years while the United States, Japan, and Germany have been growing at a steady 2 to 4
percent. China s sustained high rate of growth is unprecedented in the

The Tragedy Of Siddhartha s Life
Siddhartha s protected environment could no longer satisfy him when he discovered the
unfortunate truths of every person s life. Occasionally, the prince would leave the palace to take
trips into the city. His father, wanting to shelter him, would orchestrate these trips to avoid the
unpleasantries of life. The story goes that four sights led Siddartha to leave his established life.
He experienced these sights on outings he was taken on by his charioteer named Chandaka.
Even though care was taken to hide these things the prince saw old age, disease, and death that
drastically changed his view of the world. On a fourth outing, he saw a holy man and a
practicing ascetic. This is when he first perceived these realities of human life. He suddenly
became aware of the causes of suffering in the world. This encounter showed him, what he
thought was the way to overcome life s sufferings, the ascetic path. At the age of twenty nine he
left his wife, his son, and his palace behind to lead a life of extreme asceticism that he believed
could lead him to the answer of overcoming human suffering. For six years Siddhartha Gautama
followed asceticism and meditation. He practiced the yoga discipline under two masters, Arada
Kalama, and Udraka Ramaputra. Not finding the answers under his two teachers he left to engage
in extreme asceticism and was joined by five others; Ashvajit, Vashpa, Bhadrika, Mahanaman, and
Kaundinya. These men became followers of Siddhartha. After six years, he

Understanding Statistics and Research Design Statistical analysis is a critical element to the
research process. Understanding the functions of the varying mathematical representations of
collected empirical data is a fundamental step in the research design process (Creswell, 2009). The
intent of this paper is to explain the fundamental language of statistics, and how each one is used to
draw solid conclusions to research hypotheses.
Measures of Central Tendency One of the immediate steps in the research process after collecting
the data is to determine a mathematical average, or central tendency (Salkind, 2010). Central
tendencies are used to represent a typical variable for a given data set. There are three forms of
central tendencies that concern statistical analysis and research: mean, median, and mode (Martin
Bridgmon, 2012).
Mean
Mean is one of the most commonly utilized mathematical representations in

Summary Of Joe Valentine And Travis Vanderwhite With Lithko
Joe Valentine and Travis Vanderwhite with Lithko presented on the topic of vertical concrete
construction. They explained to us that vertical concrete construction is a wide range of
different versions of placing concrete. Lithko is a concrete contactor that is aiming to be in
every major city in the United States. They currently have ____ number of offices with the
closest being in Kansas City. Joe and Travis explained to us that Lithko doesn t own any of their
own forms. They rent every form they use whether it is gang forms or steel ply systems.
According to what we were told it is just about the same cost for them to rent all the forms and
also they said they are guaranteed quality equipment for every job. Lithko uses three major
forming systems and these systems are gang forms, steel ply, and ply wood forms.... Show more

These forms can withstand up to 2000 lbs/sf of pouring pressure and have the fastest pour rate.
Gang forms only require tie about every 4 to 5 feet on center. This system does require a
sizeable lay down area to construct the gang form. Once a certain gang is created it is lifted into
place and usually there is more gangs attached to another. Once the wall is poured and set the
form can be striped and if the gang section is not to odd of a section it can be placed exactly
where the next pour will be located. This helps to speed up the process setting walls and almost
takes no time at all to set up for a pour. Gang forms come in heavy duty and medium duty

  • 3. The Use Of The Sit-In Movement In The Civil Rights Movement The sit in movement acted as a major protest and turning point for the Civil Rights Movement. The sit ins highlighted the main moral issue that was being fought: racial discrimination and segregation. Blacks utilized the strategies of nonviolence and student involvement in order to combat the moral issue of racial segregation ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). The appeal for human rights through the use of nonviolencewas an important strategy utilized by blacks during the Civil Rights movement and in particular the sit inmovement. The students who initiated the sit ins were heavily trained on non violence tactics ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). These tactics were often taught through workshops on nonviolence that taught them how to take the blows and respond with a sense of dignity (Vivian, Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). Such training was useful, as whites often responded with violence. While protesters were sitting at the counter, they found themselves attacked by whites, while the police did nothing to protect them ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). Likewise, the residence of Z. Alexander Looby was bombed ( Ain t Scared of Your Jails ). However, the violence perpetrated by whites was only used against them as blacks intended to whip the enemy with something that he doesn t understand : that something being peaceful resistance (McCain, 116). This peaceful resistance was crucial for the success of the movement, as nonviolence nurture[d] the atmosphere in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social Dominance Theory A major point of social dominance theory is that all humans belong to various groups. There are powerful groups that provide status and authority and there are powerless groups as children that are easy targets of violence. Some adults sexually abuse a child to feel the power and control they don t feel in their relationships with other adults. Sometimes, adults who have intimate sexual relationships with other adults may sexually abuse children in moments of unusual stress. Other adults are primarily sexually attracted to children and act impulsively when presented with an unexpected opportunity to sexually abuse a child. Each person who sexually abuses a child is motivated by issues unique to that individual. Some adults who sexually abuse children recognize that it is wrong and are deeply repentant. Other adults believe their behavior is okay and that what they do shows their love for children. b.Psychological Explanation:... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no single profile that accurately describes or accounts for all child molesters. There are many variables among individuals in terms of their personal characteristics, life experiences, criminal histories, and reasons for committing such offenses. One common misconception is that molested children grow up to become child molesters themselves. Most adults who sexually use or abuse children were, during their own childhoods, abandoned, abused sexually, physically, and /or emotionally. In reaction to those experiences of abuse, neglect, betrayal and powerlessness, they may have attempted to find feelings of power and control over others including sexual power over children. Some people who sexually use or abuse children have high social status in a group and become so confused by constant admiration or praise that they begin to think the rules are different for ... • 5. The Meaning Of Islam And Islam The meaning of Islam is submission to one God. The central point or belief in Islam is to believe in the existence of only one God or Allah. The religion revolves around this one belief known as tawhid. This idea occurs in other religions such as Judaism and Christianity. All of these authentic religions speak of the same God as Islamis the reassertion of the revelation of God to Abraham, Noah and Christ. Islam considers these great figures as prophets and they are included in the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Quran which is the word of God says that there are ninety nine names of God which are distributed into Perfection, Majesty, and Beauty. Some of them include: the Just, the Majestic, the Giver of Death, the Victorious, the All Powerful, the All Merciful, the Forgiver and the Generous. The belief in the Oneness of God is very essential as the most basic testifications or shahadas state: There is no god but God (Allah) and Muhammad is the messenger of God. Allah has defined human beings not as sinful but as beings that carry their primordial nature but negligence has made them forget that nature. Islam was sent for remembrance of the knowledge of the One. For this reason, the greatest sin acquired by human beings is not disobedience as said in Christianity but it is shirk which is denying the Oneness of God and taking a partner onto God. God has provided the human race with the intelligence for them to know the One and no forget and shirk is a crime that would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Alter Public Space Research Paper How does one alter public space? The altering of public spaces means to change the atmosphere of a public area in either a positive or negative way. Some people alter public space based off their appearance, and others with their actions. There are many ways to alter public space, and it happens way more than one may realize. There are not many times in my life where I distinctly remember altering public space, but there are a few significant times that stand out to me. The three most pivotal and memorable experiences that I have had in which I altered public spaceare the tornado on April 27, 2011, when I first moved to Alabama from Ohio, and when I went to a camp in Colorado for 5 weeks. The most memorable of these three events is the 2011 tornado. I remember watching the weather channel as it was spotted heading toward Tuscaloosa, only for the power to go out minutes later. I remember going to the heart of the devastation that evening and just walking around amazed as I looked around at what looked like a war zone at the time. The very next day my family and I went out into devastated areas and handed out food and water to those who lost their homes. It was in doing this that I can look back and notice how I altered... • 7. Examples Of Shareholder Value Analysis The Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) was created in 1986 by Dr. Alfred Rappaport and LEK /Alcar Consulting Group. Dr. Rappaport presented the idea of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) in his book Creating Shareholder Value in 1986. It is based on the Discounted Cash Flow Model. It has gained publicity and it s now an established performance measurement tool. However, it is not as widely used as the Economic Value Added method (EVA). The basis of Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is probably almost the same as Economic Value Added (EVA) (www.5paisa.com /scho/ch09.html,www.lek.com) The principle behind Shareholder Value Analysis (SVA) is to discount estimated future cash flows in order to calculate present value and hence to achieve continuous calculation of the value of the firm. However, this free cash flow will not take into account, financing related cash flows which include cash flows from issues of shares or issue of debt, dividend and interest payment etc (www.cimaglobal.com, 2004). • 8. Persuasive Essay On Lack Of Education America under our Constitution gives us the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We have great American people such as, John Hunter, Michael Bennett, Aimee Guidera, and Kaya Henderson fighting for equality among education. However, kids gradually lose hope, their learning potential crumbles , fewer and fewer opportunities remain open, and kids slowly slip away. Savage inequalities among education greatly exist in American. Few can dispute that we have the opportunity to set our own goals and standards. Just by turning on the tv , reading articles, magazines and even going on social media clearly not everyone is given the same opportunities or privileges. It is very disappointing that only few are paying attention to these poor disadvantaged kids. The U.S. does not provide access to the American Dream because of the lack of education and opportunities, kids are constantly cheated out of their futures. Yes, it is true that all students have the opportunity to go to school, but some kids have to deal with major disadvantages. Few actually know the sights, sounds, and smells of ghetto schools. James Baldwin once quoted not everything that is faced can be changed but nothing can be changed until it is faced .Those living in la la land that thinks that everyone has the same opportunities needs to wake up. This is not playtime, there are boys and girls who are struggling for basic needs. Right here in America their are kids in: East St. Louis, Camden New Jersey, Washington D.C., Bronx New York, San Antonio Texas, Cincinnati Ohio, southside Chicago, Detroit Michigan, and Alabama who are not given the equal chances to rise in the world. These kids are faced with but not limited to poverty, lack of education, crime, dilapidated housing, insufficient healthcare, hunger and unemployment. East St. Louis the most distressed city in America , the bottom 98% of the population is black. Вѕ live below poverty level and make less than $7,500 a year. There are moments when the camera goes into slow motion and we get a great scene of one of the three men with his leg straight up in the air. After their dance the camera switches focus back to the woman in a yellow dress from before. She moves as fluidly as water. Her movements are precise and relaxing. She is making things that take lots of strength look like anyone is capable of doing it. I could watch her dance for hours. Just as with the three men from before some of her movements are caught in slow motion, at just the perfect time to see her body contort in different ways. The film ends with the dying man and the woman in the yellow dress. He is still letting out his substance from his body while he dies in her arms. Along with the very powerful visuals from the dancers the music is strong and reflective. If I close my eyes I can see the story laid out in front of me from the music alone. • 11. HIV Treatment Adherence Essay Treatment adherence is critical for HIV positive individuals, but many find it challenging to maintain. Sarita D. Boyd (2011) conducted a review of currently recommended treatment guidelines for patients managing HIV infection, including adherence obstacles and benefits. According to Boyd, HIV treatment should consist of antiretroviral therapy and routine health monitoring, but many patients often defer treatment and fail to report for monitoring appointments. Reasons for this failure to adhere to the treatment plan vary depending on the individual patient, and the situation may be further complicated by differing medical opinions and lack of resources and opportunity for the patient. Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is the current standard for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cost of these drugs is a major obstacle to treatment adherence because they are expensive, averaging $22,000.00 to $32,000.00 annually for consistent treatment (Boyd, 2011). Several government programs cover initial HIV screening costs but not life time care, so many patients only take their medicines as their finances allow (Boyd, 2011). This nonadherence leads to the development of drug resistance which increases transmission potential and decreases treatment options (Boyd, 2011). Efavirenz is a fixed dose ART combining tenofovir and emtricitabine (Boyd, 2011). It offers once daily dosing and is currently the simplest and least expensive protocol available. Due to deferred treatment options, less pills, once daily dosing, fewer side effects and improved drug potency, HIV patients are reporting increased treatment adherence and better treatment success (Boyd, 2011). More efforts must be made to insure treatment adherence throughout the entire life of the patient. Another hindrance to early diagnosis and program adherence lies in the communication skills and comfort levels of patient and physician. • 12. Differences Of The North And South During The 1800s During the 1800s, life in America was very different depending on where, on the map, people were located, the North or the South. The North and the South were different in three ways, economically, politically, and, lastly, socially. Even through their differences, there were also a few simularites. To begin, the Northand South were different economically mainly because one, the North, was an Industrial economy, and the other, the South, was an Agricultural economy. • 13. Capitalism And Feudalism Marx and Engels suggested that the bourgeois revolution destroyed everything that was once held sacred because people had to give up their dreams, passions, and occupations in order to provide for themsel The alienation of labor added insult to injury because workers were forced to sell themselves into slavery. The destruction of the feudalism, and the industrial revolution was what created capitalism. During the 19 century, the industrial revolution had allowed the once impoverished to become obtain wealth through manufacturing and creating jobs, which created new oppressors. The workers that they employed were alienated because they could afford the products they made while working harsh hours in horrible conditions. Which lead Marx to create the Communist Manifesto, which divided people into two classes: the property owners (Bourgeoisie) and the workers (proletariat) . He did this because felt pity for the workers and wanted to go back to simpler times and knew industrial societies were developed enough to have a workers revolution. This had led revolutions because the people he called the proletariat were outraged and wanted a better standard of living. Thus, leading to future revolutions throughout the world. To understand how capitalism started must first know what feudalism was. The Hunger GamesLike A Festivity In The Hunger Games It is shocking to see how the Capitol expects the Districts to treat the Hunger Games like a festivity, so that they can enjoy the suffering of the tributes as pure entertainment, while being tortuous for the Districts that have to comply. This is illustrated quite well when Katniss says that To make it humiliating as well as tortuous, the Capitol requires us to treat the Hunger Games as a festivity, a sporting event pitting every Districts against the others ... For the residences in the Capitol The Hunger Games itself is an annual event that provides them with a highly anticipated source of entertainment to pass time and the cause to celebrate. Citizens gamble on the tributes and sponsor their favourites in the arena. The Districts understand that they are more likely to survive if they are seemingly compliant with the laws and the retractions that the Capitol puts on them. District 12 along with other districts comply with the Laws that the Capitol reinforces. Not only are the Districts required to comply but they have to look like and pretend that they re agreeable to the punishment of having to sacrifice 2 of their young people from each District, every year and then act as if it is a major celebration rather than a tortuous punishment they have to endure year after year. This term refers to a practice of part body modification, and part computer hacking. Last year, artist Anthony Antonellis implanted an RFID chip in his hand that could store and transmit one kilobyte of information through a tiny antennae. This also brings to mind, Rich Lee, a salesman from Utah who implanted sound transmitting magnets in his ears. The magnets are powered by a coil apparatus that includes a little amplifier and battery pack and plugs into Lee s Walkman. The coil creates an electromagnetic field that vibrates the magnets in his ears and creates sound comparable to a cheap pair of headphone. The next generation of tattoos is most likely going to be a post ink enterprise. In some cases, ink will become ephemera, and in other cases the ink is going to be a gadget itself. For example, LED tattoos, instead of ink injection this form of tattooing involves implanting LED displays under the skin. Problematic Internet Use The issue of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) has become a topic of discussion for the newer generations exposed to technological tools (smartphones, tablets etc.). Considering the effectiveness of computer mediated communication (CMC) compared to the traditional face to face, there is a larger chance to become addicted to the internet since technological tools have been developed to be conveniently accessible. Using technological tools as a mediator, it can be possible that individuals prefer CMC due to the three main components that it offers: anonymity, asynchronicity, and accessibility (Valkenburg Peter, 2011). The wide range of tools offered by different social networking sites can factor into the frequent use of technological tools and the internet. Using Facebook as an example, it can be fairly easy to control the information and media posted onto a user s profile. Burke Ruppel (2015) suggest that for the most part, people have the ability to control the information and pictures they post on Facebook (in addition to controlling the dissemination of others information about them, such as by deleting wall posts or removing tags that identify them in others pictures), giving them the tools to convey a desired impression to others. Being able to control and avoid certain insecurities on their online profile is what makes sites like Facebook display a social medium between text and media posted while conducting research. The data transferred is encrypted so that it cannot be read by anyone except the recipient. (HTTPs) is just one of many different protocols used to access different types of resources on the net. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference is that a URI can be used to describe a file s name or location, or both, while a URL specifically defines a resource s location. URL PARAMETERS The first part of the URL is called a Protocol Identifier and it indicates what protocol to use, and the second part is called a Resource Name and it specifies the IP Addressor the domain name where the resource is located. The protocol identifier and the resource name are separated by a colon and two forward slashes. Each time the client taps on the connection URL finds the archive to be recovered. URL Parameters are parameters whose values are set dynamically in a page s URL, and can be accessed by its template and its data sources. This makes pages incredibly dynamic, enabling a single page to power an endless number of views. This very page, for example, sets a parameter in the last bit of its URL (url parameters), which is then used to filter a data source that fetches the appropriate entry from the Concepts section. Every individual Concept view on this site is thus powered by a single page. You can insert URL parameters into your URLs so that your URLs track information about a click. • 20. Scanlon And Wilkinson s Two Main Reasons For The... Both Scanlon and Wilkinson give instrumental arguments against socio economic inequalities. First both views are summarized, after which the main differences between their views is highlighted. Scanlon gives five diverse reasons for the elimination of inequalities in societies (Scanlon, 1996: 2 5). The first reason is at base a humanitarian concern, for example to alleviate suffering. If some people are living under terrible conditions, the gap between the rich and the poor provides the opportunity to reduce the suffering of those people, without causing others to suffer a similar fate. The second reason for objecting inequality is that people should not be treated as inferior or made to feel inferior, for example through privileges of rank ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first main difference is that the argument Wilkinson gives is based on empirical data analysis, while Scanlon s reasons are not. The second main difference is that we need to reduce inequality in order to improve the average well being of our societies , because inequalities lead to deteriorations in social relations, health and human capital according to Wilkinson, but according to Scanlon we don t always need to intervene to reduce inequality. The force of the first reason Scanlon gives for the elimination of inequalities fades away if the situation of both rich and poor greatly improves, also if the difference between them is the same or has even increased. The same goes for the third reason Scanlon gives for objecting inequality: if inequality doesn t give some people an unacceptable degree of control over the lives of other, then inequality is allowed. Also the fourth reason for pursuing equality can be compatible with large inequalities, it is only required that they result from a fair process. The last reason Scanlon gives in his article might also be a fairly weak one. If it is assumed that other things equal, all individuals have equal claims to welfare, then much depends on how many things there are that might not be equal. For example, people ought to be equal in the levels of welfare they enjoy, except for differences in welfare resulting from people s own free choices, which may also result in inequality. Only according to the second reason Scanlon gives for objecting inequality we always need to eliminate the differences in question. The third main difference is that Scanlon s second reason for objecting inequality is that people should not be treated as inferior or made to feel inferior and therefore people need to be protected against reasonable and undeserved feelings of loss of self esteem, but according to Wilkinson that s not a reason for objecting inequality, though ... Scientists are often viewed by society as quite droll, but in reality, they must be incredibly creative and intuitive in order to make scientific discoveries. Children around the world often dream of making remarkable scientific discoveries, although for some, unfortunate circumstances prevent them from working in scientific laboratories. Whether it be due to a major illness or a physical defect, many inspired adolescents are kept from their true passion, due to the demands of the field. These individuals are often forced into much less favorable professions, but still retain the analytical mind of a prospective scientist. However, those lucky few who are allowed to express their scientific interests through their alternate occupations, typically novelists, often portray idealistic societies which have been driven forward by scientific advances. One such disgruntled novelist, Aldous Huxley, allows his creativity to flourish through his work, spouting a myriad of technological advancements which have allowed society to become utopian. Stress is both a versatile agent that disrupts the human body s normal mental, physical, and emotional state, and the body s natural reaction to change (Staal, 2004). The effects of this amorphous phenomenon have been studied from a number of angles including but not limited to stress related sleep pattern disturbances, mood swings, attention spans, weight gain, long term illnesses, and cognitive function. This review will focus on the effects of psychological stress on people s ability to encode, store, and retain memories. When the human body is presented with a stressful situation, the body enters a state of emergency called the fight or flight response, also known as the acute stress response. Involuntarily, the body s sympathetic nervous system is aroused and releases adrenaline, norepinephrine, and cortisol from the adrenal glands of the brain. These hormones trigger a series of physiological responses facilitating acceleration in heart rate and breathing, constriction of blood vessels, relaxed bladder, inhibition of metabolic digestion, tightened muscles, and sharper vision due to pupil dilation. This is a result of the human body instinctively protecting itself from threat of pain or injury by shutting down all of the nonessential systems, and supplying the bodily systems needed to respond to the emergency with its necessary components, like sufficient amounts of oxygen and ... Mars has two natural satellites, discovered by Asaph Hall in 1877. The innermost of these, Phobos, is about 22.2 km in diameter (27.0Г—21.6Г— 18.8) and orbits the planet with a period far less than Mars s period of rotation 7.7 hr. As it orbits, it slowly spirals in towards the Martian surface. Phobos is drawing closer to Mars by 2 meters every one hundred years, and it is predicted that it will collide with the planet /or destroyed in the atmosphere. Phobos has a semi major axis 9376 km (2.76 Mars radii), eccentricity 0.0152 and orbit mean inclination 1.1o (relative to Mars equator). In this case Caltex had obtained development consent from the local council to decommission a suburban service station and remediate it to residential standards. A condition of the consent was that an auditor accredited by the EPA would sign off the completed decontamination. A consultant issued a report to Caltex stating that the former service station site was suitable for residential use, and the sale of the service station was completed relying on the report. The contract of sale contained a condition that the site would be suitable for purposes permitted by its current business zoning (in which residential flats were also permitted). One major issue that has been raised is distant learning courses and online education. Distant learning could be any format from VHS videos, DVDs, or internet courses online. Online education has been legal since 1993 and is a new way of teaching students of all ages. Online education has been gaining popularity through out the years because of the ease of the internet. This is an advantage for foreigners who can not speak proper English correctly. Live video and sound can also be done with special equipment for a real time conversation with instructors and peers. Other features on the online courses are the learning aides that can be used while taking the course. Certain programs can be made such as flash cards and games which can increase the learning experience of the student. These learning aides can be done on the student s time and does not require the teacher to be there. Time for a face to face class is very difficult if a person works 40 hours a week but an online course can put an ease on the time restriction because the person does the work at their own pace and time. It is also easier to sign up for an online class than a class at a college. Message boards are in use if the students need to leave a question or a comment about the subject their on. They also save time by not traveling to the college and trying to find a parking space. Rural areas where students have to travel a great distance to get to class can save time and money by doing online classes. For example, a child of a farmer can help the family out in the morning with the farming chores then go to an online class later on. Rural kids may also take additional educational classes online that their school does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Importance of Sleep Essay Sleep is an extremely interesting phenomenon in which the mind almost completely departs from the usual realm of consciousness. It is distinguished from quiet wakefulness and a decreased ability to react to stimuli where we become less aware of our surroundings. However, it is more easily reversed than being in hibernation or a coma. It is a function that has been extensively researched by many. After all, we would not have evolved a mechanism that forces us to spend one third of our lives sleeping unless sleep did us some good. What good does it do tough? Over the years, many theories have been proposed as to why we need sleep. The simplest is that it saves energy. An individual s energy expenditure and demand is reduced during the day, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A sleep deprived driver, believe it or not, is as dangerous as a drunk driver. Sleep also strengthens learning and memory, including both motor skills and language related tasks. When you learn something, your memory improves if you go to sleep within the next 3 hours, and it deteriorates after a sleepless night. A good night s sleep can also improve learning the next day. When people learn a new difficult motor task, such as a video game skill, the brain areas that are active during the learning become reactivated during one s sleep that night. The brain replays the same patterns they had during the day, only faster. The amount of functioning and activity in those areas during sleep predicts the amount of improvement the next day. In learning, wakefulness and sleep play complementary roles. Researchers have demonstrated that learning strengthens the appropriate synapses during wakefulness and weakens other synapses during sleep. Therefore, REM sleep is crucial for organizing pieces and the associations between them needed for forming lasting memories. Organizing these pieces within your brain requires information gained through learning. Learning is a complicated process that is completed subconsciously by gaining new knowledge and skills and modifying previous ones. Three basic parts of learning include acquisition, consolidation, and recall. During acquisition, the brain receives information and stores it within its neural circuits as memory. This ... • 37. Biography Of Isaac Newton s Three Laws Of Motion Isaac Newton was an English mathematician, astronomer, and physicist who had developed his three laws of motion by the age of 23. He was born in 1642 the same year the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei died. Galileo s work helped to influence or set the stage for the development and creation of Newton s three laws. Newton s three laws of motion consists of the first law which is the concepts of inertia, second law which is relating acceleration to its cause and lastly the third law which is action and reaction. The laws of motion were interpreted in the most famous and influential book of all time called, Philosophiae Naturalis Principia Mathematica created by Newton in 1687. The book was often known as Principia used to explain and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only way to change an objects motion is for it to be impacted by an unbalanced force. Next is Newton s second law of motion also known as the Law of Force and Acceleration . He was the first to recognize the relationship between force and mass in the production of acceleration. This discovery became one of the most central rules of nature that was able to shape the form of physics. The law states; The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object . This is usually expressed by the equation Force= mass x acceleration (F=ma). The law also states that the smaller the object the higher the acceleration there will be and vise versa the larger the object the smaller the acceleration will be. The acceleration of an object depends on the net force acted on the object and the mass of the object. If the mass and net force is both doubled then the acceleration will remain unchanged. This law also gives a explanation for why objects with different masses are able to fall with equal/same acceleration. If the object is only acted on by the gravitational force then air resistance is negligible which is called free fall. During free fall the acceleration of the objects also depends on its inertia and uses the equation Force/mass=gravity (F/m=g), g always ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The United States s Reconstruction Policies During The... By March 1863, Union forces had taken control of the sugar planting region and reported that all the slaves had come within their lines. Fellow sugar planter Andrew McCollam reported that he had only a few hands left and he doubted he would be able to do more than manage the seed cane. Viguerie, along with hundreds of Louisiana soldiers, including William A. Bisland of Terrebonne, surrendered on May 26, 1865 in New Orleans. Viguerie was paroled to New Iberia, Louisiana on June 6, 1865. He was released shortly after. Louisiana was the only region deep within the Confederacy where Union authorities implemented experimental Reconstruction policies during the Civil War. Louisiana responded to President Abraham Lincoln s plan to readmit southern states into the Union by selecting delegates to write a new constitution. The Constitution of 1864 abolished slavery and disposed of Louisiana s old order of rule by planters and merchants, although it did not give African Americans voting power. It was the first state charter to incorporate Lincoln s conciliatory approach and was the leading test case for postwar policy. Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamationof 1863 did not apply to Union held territory. Thus, slavery continued in the thirteen Louisiana parishes under Union control. After much debate, delegates to the constitutional convention agreed to abolish slavery without compensation for masters but not to give the vote to black men. The new constitution, however, authorized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are also some international laws like if you do any bad thing then you will be punished. Laws control human behaviours. They restrict human to do bad things. Jurisprudence creates a body of law, methods for interpreting the law, studies the relationship between law and society, predicts the effect of legal decisions. We can divide jurisprudence into two parts: (i) analytic jurisprudence and (ii) normative jurisprudence. Analytic jurisprudence: Analytic jurisprudence is the branch of the legal philosophy. The principal objective of analytic jurisprudence is to find the reasons that are differentiates laws as a system of norms from the other system of norms as ethical norms. It provides sufficient conditions that distinguish law from the non law. It attempts to analyze the laws and legal systems. Analytic jurisprudence is a legal theory that tries to understand the laws of nature. It deals about the basic questions of law. Like what is a law? What are laws? The Career Of A Professional Workplace A professional workplace is an environment that produces numerous challenging situations and if not handled correctly, could create a very unproductive organization. A well qualified employee is selected to be responsible for controlling all or part of a company, including difficult situations that arise between co workers. The term given to this worker is a manager; their main task in the organization is to get things done through the efforts of other people. This may sound like a rather simple task, but it is very deep and layered with different difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an internationally renowned author on business and management, broke down the tasks a manager faces into ten different interrelated roles. According to Mintzberg s managerial roles, there are three categories that break up the ten roles a manager performs: Interpersonal, Informational, and Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead, leader, and liaison. Informational includes monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. Finally, Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is clear that being a manager is a demanding job and it is not for the easily overwhelmed individual. There are numerous different research projects that have been performed in hopes to discover a new way for managers to be more effective and successful in their day to day activities. As stated by Knuttila (2017), economic power is a mechanism of power that deals with control over the distribution of resources (p. 42). This aligns with the claim made by Antony et al. (2017) that poverty is about how income and economic resources are distributed through the labour market, which is really businesses and employers deciding who will get paid what for which kind of work (p. 9). This idea is brought up in the news article with the finding that the incomes of most impoverished families are below the poverty line (Baxter, 2016). As indicated by these authors, those that the structures of society have given considerable economic power allow poverty to flourish because material resources (i.e., money in the form of wages) are not being allocated equitably throughout society, making those with less economic power suffer by receiving inadequate wages to sustain their ... Occasionally, the prince would leave the palace to take trips into the city. His father, wanting to shelter him, would orchestrate these trips to avoid the unpleasantries of life. The story goes that four sights led Siddartha to leave his established life. He experienced these sights on outings he was taken on by his charioteer named Chandaka. Even though care was taken to hide these things the prince saw old age, disease, and death that drastically changed his view of the world. On a fourth outing, he saw a holy man and a practicing ascetic. This is when he first perceived these realities of human life. He suddenly became aware of the causes of suffering in the world. This encounter showed him, what he thought was the way to overcome life s sufferings, the ascetic path. At the age of twenty nine he left his wife, his son, and his palace behind to lead a life of extreme asceticism that he believed could lead him to the answer of overcoming human suffering. For six years Siddhartha Gautama followed asceticism and meditation. He practiced the yoga discipline under two masters, Arada Kalama, and Udraka Ramaputra.
