THE STUDENT
I am Erica Mae
D. Marasigan, a 3rd
year
student at Cavite State
University-Main
Campus and taking up
Bachelor of Elementary
Education Major in
Early Childhood
Education.
THE STUDENT
Educational
Technology II
(Instructional Media
Resources) is part of
our curriculum. This
portfolio is about the
things I learned in this
subject.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
As we discussed about Educational Technology II
(Instructional Media Resources) , Educational
Technology is a complex, integrated process involving
people, procedures, ideas, devices, and organization for
analyzing problems and devising, implementing,
evaluating, managing solutions to those problems,
involved in all aspects of human learning.
Technology, comes from the Greek word “techne”
means “craft or art”. Technology refers to art or craft of
responding to educational needs. We all know that
Technology make our life easier.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
There are five (5) Domains of Educational
Technology. The first one is what we call the Design it is
about planning our objectives. Development , we conduct
a pilot testing. In Utilization, it is the actual presentation of
your design phase that you created. Evaluation, you
evaluate to know if your output is effective. Lastly, the
Management or what we call linch pin it binds all the
educational domains.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
What is Dale’s Cone of
Experience?
The cone of experience is
a pictorial device use to
explain the
interrelationships of the
various types of audio-visual
media, as well as their
individual “positions” in the
learning process.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
What is Dale’s Cone of Experience?
The cone’s utility in selecting instructional resources and
activities is as practical today as when Dale created it.
Principles on the cone of Experience:
 The cone is based on the relationships of various
educational experiences to reality (real life), and the bottom
level of the cone, “direct purposeful experiences”
represents reality or the closest things to real, everyday life.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Principles on the cone of Experience:
 The opportunity for a learner to use a variety or several
senses (sight, smell, hearing, touching, movement) is
considered in the cone.
Direct experience allows us to use all senses.
Verbal symbols involve only hearing.
The more sensory channels possible in interacting with a
resource, the better the chance that many students can
learn from it.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
In this subject, we also discussed about the two (2)
Instructional Development Models. The first model is the
ADDIE MODEL (Analysis, Design, Development,
Implementation, Evaluation). The second model is the
ASSURE MODEL (Analyze the learner, State objectives,
Select media and materials, Utilize media and materials,
Require learner participation, Evaluate and revise).

A Basic Concept on Integrating Technology in
Instruction
I.Successful Technology Integration
We define this as Introduce, Reinforce, and Extend
Skills. We also consider that changes may occur to our
way of teaching. It helps our students in better
understanding the content.
II. Forms of Technology Integration
Blended learning is about face to face + simultaneous
conversation + using technology to send data = strong-online
learning environment.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Use of Mobile Devices is about video interviews,
polling projects and even assignments can be done
using: Cellphones, MP3player, tablet, computers.
Interactive Whiteboards is about creating PowerPoint
presentation is real time, and demonstrate movie
making. Podcasting refers to audio recordings stored
in MP3 format or another file format. Virtual Field Trips
is a guided and narrated tour of website that have been
selected by teachers.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
III. Levels of Technology Integration
The three levels are Simple, Middle, High.
In Simple Integration, there is no significant
changes in teaching and learning process. In
Middle-level Integration there is purposeful use
and it support key learning. Lastly, High-level
Integration, technology is the Central
Instructional tool.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
IT Enters a New Learning Environment
In IT enters a new learning environment, there are
four (4) conceptual models. These are the Meaningful
Learning, Discover Learning, Generative Learning, and
Constructivism. Meaningful Learning gives new
experience that is related to what the learner already
knows. In Discovery Learning, students perform tasks to
uncover what is to be learned. Generative Learning are
active learners who attend to learning events and generate
drawing from this experience. Constructivism learner builds
a personal understanding.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS
Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) is thinking that
happens in the analysis, synthesis, and evaluation rungs of
Bloom’s ladder. Learners today are expected to not only
cognitive but also creative. We also discussed the key elements
of constructivist approach. Wherein the teacher create the
learning environment. The teacher are the one who facilitate
learning and they are the one who guide their students.
There are four(4) IT Based Projects. The first one is the
Resource Based Project, wherein the active learning process
does the teacher step in to supply data. The second is the
Simple Creations is the creativity as an outcome should not be
equated with higher intelligence.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
The third is Guided Hypermedia it is the production
of self-made multi-media project can be instructive tools,
constructive and communicating tools. And then lastly,
Web-based projects, students can be made to create and
post web pages on a giving topic and it can also be linked
with related sites in the internet.
Computers as Information and Communication
Technology is also known as information and
communication technology and it stresses the role of
unified communication and the integration of
telecommunications and computers as well. In Personal
Computer as ICT, we can communicate with others and we
can easily gain information.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) can be a tutor
in effect relieving the teacher of many activities. Students in
CAI play their roles as learners as they receive information,
they understand instruction for the computer activity and
also they retain/keep in mind the information and rules for
computer activity.
In information Technology Supports the Learning of
the students, through technology we may be
knowledgeable enough to make PowerPoint presentation.
In Computer as the Teacher’s Handy-Tool, constructivism
are introduced by Piaget and Bruner and they gave stress
to knowledge discovery of new meaning, concepts,
principles in the learning process.
Educational Technology in a
Nutshell
Cooperative Learning with the Computer is about
the collaborative or group learning. In cooperative learning,
it encourage active learning, while motivating students. It
also increases the academic performance of the students.
We also discussed the software as educational
resources. Software as Educational Resources can help
not just students but also it helps teachers for computing
grades. It provides educators and students with services. I
also provides the platform for anywhere, anytime learning.
Learning Through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
Educational Technology 1 and 2 is very important
because as a student it really make our life easier in doing
things that is related in our lessons. These are the following
learning strategies/activities that I learned through Edtech 1
and Edtech 2.
1.Using Microsoft Word as tool for doing research paper.
Learning Through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
2. Before, we are using print out pictures or some of the
teachers draw their activities for their students. But now,
instead of doing such things, students nowadays post their
pictures using projectors.
Learning Through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
3. I learn how to make the right PowerPoint Slide. It is very
important to know how to make PowerPoint slide because
what we present in front is an aid for the one who watch it.
Learning Through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
4. In Computer-Assisted Instruction (CAI) can be a tutor in
effect of relieving the teacher of many activities. It helps the
teacher to minimize his/her work.
Students can easily receive
information.
Learning Through Edtech 1 and
Edtech 2
5. In Computer as Teacher’s Handy-Tool, we can see that
there are five (5) computer’s capabilities. These are the
information tool, communication tool, constructive tool, co-
constructive tool and situating tool. We can use all of these
tool in our everyday life. It is important for us as a student it
visualize one’s understanding and it builds new knowledge.
The Student after Edtech
As the result of what we discussed in this
subject, I learned that as we encountered different
kinds of tools, we learn from it. In this generation, we
need more effort to explore things that surrounds us.
All of what we learned from this subject are useful
today. We use different application to help us to
communicate with other people and for us to receive
and gain more information.
It is so very important for us to know how to
learn and understand the things using our technology
today.
The Student after Edtech
We all know that Technology serves as our
guide and it helps us to build new knowledge. As a
future teacher, as we encountered different kinds of
21st
century learner, we should be flexible enough to do
things that helps our learners to learn more from us.
In the future, when we become teachers, we
should deliver our lesson to our students clearly and
let us teach them the way that they get more
information from us.
