EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN A NUTSHELL
 Educational technology is the effective use of
technological tools in learning. As a concept,
it concerns an array of tools, such as media,
machines and networking hardware, as well
as considering underlying theoretical
perspectives for their effective application.

The Role of Information Technology in
Education is exploring the potential for technology
to redefine the terms of teaching and learning.
The use of modern information technology in
education helps students to form a creative and
productive approach, which is sure to come in
handy in their future profession or a process of
self-education.”

 It disrupts but makes us more solid technology
and innovation matter and can help us to
transform education.

BECAUSE….
Examples of Information Technology
•Telephone and radio equipment and switches used for
voice communications.
•Traditional computer applications that include data
storage and programs to input, process, and output the
data.
•Software and support for office automation systems
such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as
the computer to run them.
•Users' PCs and software.
IT ENTERS A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Today’s generation of students are going up
in a digital world. Using digital devices is a huge
part of their everyday experience out of school.
Through World Wide Web they have access to a
wide wealth of digital information, content and
resources. With all of this so intrinsic to their
‘outside school’ experience, the challenge for the
teaching profession is how to harness all this for
learning within the classroom and at home.
IT ENTERS A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
This generation of ‘digital natives’ has
much lower need for libraries of physical
content for example, the traditional resource
used by students half a generation ago.
Learning styles are changing and teachers
need to adapt their teaching styles accordingly.
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Defining Information Technology
 is the application of computer and telecommunications
equipment to restore, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data.
 Information technology is the use of computer and software
to manage information.
 set of tools, process and methodologies (such as coding,
programming, data communication, data conversion, storage and
retrieval, system analysis and design and system control) and
associated equipment employed to collect, process and present
information.
 it also includes office automation, multimedia and
telecommunications.

COMPUTER CAPABILITIES AS TEACHERS TOOLS
 Informative Tool
The computer can provide vast amounts
of information in various forms, such as text,
graphics, sounds, and video. Even multimedia
encyclopedias are today available on the
internet.
 Constructive Tool
The computer itself can be used for
manipulating information; visualizing one’s
understanding and building new knowledge.
The Microsoft Word computer program itself is
desktop publishing software that allows uses to
organize and present their ideas in attractive
formats.
 Co-constructive Tool
Students can use constructive tools to work
cooperatively and construct a shared understanding of
new knowledge. On ways of co-constructive is the use
of the electronic whiteboard where students may post
notices to a shared document/whiteboard. Students
may also co-edit the same document from their homes.
The Computer-Supported International Learning
Environments (CSILE) is an example of an integrated
environment developed by the Ontario Institute for
studied in Education.
 Situating Tool
By means of virtual reality (RS) extension
systems, the computer can create 3-D images on
display to give the user the feeling that are situated in a
virtual environment. A flight simulation program is an
example of situating tool which places the user in a
simulated flying environment.
Multi-User domains or Dungeons (MUDs) MUD
Object Oriented (MOOs), and Multi-User Shared
hallucination (MUSHs) are example of situating systems
MUDs and MOOs are text-based virtual reality
environments on the Internet. When users log on to a
MOO environment.
 Communication Tool
The computer has been used in
communication as evident by social networking
sites as to facebook, twitter and friendster. We
can even chat/talk friends and families
anywhere in the globe through yahoo
messenger or the one in facebook or view
them through the webcam. We can send
messages and information through the internet
in just seconds or minutes.
THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS
It is helpful to see useful models of school
learning that is ideal in achieving instructional
goals through preferred application of
educational technology. In these conceptual
models, we shall see how effective teachers’
best interact with students in innovating
learning activities, while integrating technology
to the teaching learning process.
THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS
 Meaningful Learning
It means full of understanding.
“Meaningful Learning Opposed to rote
learning and refers to a learning way where the
new knowledge to acquire is related with
previous knowledge” (Ausubel 2000)

 Discovery Learning
It is a technique of inquiry-based instruction
and is considered a constructivist based approach
to education.
Discovery Learning encourages students to
actively use their intuition, imagination, and
creativity. It uses inductive reasoning by starting
with the specific and moving to the general.

 Generative Learning
In generative learning, we have active
learners who attend to learning events and
generate meaning from these experiences and
draw inferences thereby creating a personal
model or explanation to the new experience in
the context of existing knowledge.

 Constructivism
In constructivism, the learner builds a
personal understanding through learning
activities and a good learning environment.
LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
In EDTC 2, I learn that educational
technology can facilitate our projects,
assignments, etc., more easier. It also helps to
better facilitate our communication with our
students whether inside or outside their school.
There are a fair contribution to us but to others,
they abused the technology and not used in a
proper way.
LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
As a future teacher, I used the technology
appropriately to help my students learn quickly
and well. I use it to make their focus is on my
lesson only and to give a higher order thinking
skills to my students.
THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH
In this portfolio, it shows that the
educational technology is a hands-on,
project-based course designed to help
educators use technology creatively and
effectively in support of curriculum in the
elementary and secondary school
classrooms.
THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH
This portfolio deals with the facts about
the use of computer and how the people
construct their own understanding and
knowledge of the world, through experiencing
things and reflecting on those experiences.

  • 3.  I am a third year student of Cavite State University Main Campus  Currently taking Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics
  • 4. I am Marc Jayson Badeo and this portfolio show something about educational technology.
  • 5. EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN A NUTSHELL  Educational technology is the effective use of technological tools in learning. As a concept, it concerns an array of tools, such as media, machines and networking hardware, as well as considering underlying theoretical perspectives for their effective application.
  • 6. THE ROLE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY The Role of Information Technology in Education is exploring the potential for technology to redefine the terms of teaching and learning. The use of modern information technology in education helps students to form a creative and productive approach, which is sure to come in handy in their future profession or a process of self-education.” – Oleksii and Oleksandr Tebenko, Ukraine

Examples of Information Technology •Telephone and radio equipment and switches used for voice communications. •Traditional computer applications that include data storage and programs to input, process, and output the data. •Software and support for office automation systems such as word processing and spreadsheets, as well as the computer to run them. •Users' PCs and software.
  • 9. IT ENTERS A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT Today’s generation of students are going up in a digital world. Using digital devices is a huge part of their everyday experience out of school. Through World Wide Web they have access to a wide wealth of digital information, content and resources. With all of this so intrinsic to their ‘outside school’ experience, the challenge for the teaching profession is how to harness all this for learning within the classroom and at home.
  • 10. IT ENTERS A NEW LEARNING ENVIRONMENT This generation of ‘digital natives’ has much lower need for libraries of physical content for example, the traditional resource used by students half a generation ago. Learning styles are changing and teachers need to adapt their teaching styles accordingly.
  • 11. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Defining Information Technology  is the application of computer and telecommunications equipment to restore, retrieve, transmit and manipulate data.  Information technology is the use of computer and software to manage information.  set of tools, process and methodologies (such as coding, programming, data communication, data conversion, storage and retrieval, system analysis and design and system control) and associated equipment employed to collect, process and present information.  it also includes office automation, multimedia and telecommunications.
  • 12. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Technology is important in education because….   • 13. COMPUTER CAPABILITIES AS TEACHERS TOOLS  Informative Tool The computer can provide vast amounts of information in various forms, such as text, graphics, sounds, and video. Even multimedia encyclopedias are today available on the internet.
  • 14.  Constructive Tool The computer itself can be used for manipulating information; visualizing one’s understanding and building new knowledge. The Microsoft Word computer program itself is desktop publishing software that allows uses to organize and present their ideas in attractive formats.
  • 15.  Co-constructive Tool Students can use constructive tools to work cooperatively and construct a shared understanding of new knowledge. On ways of co-constructive is the use of the electronic whiteboard where students may post notices to a shared document/whiteboard. Students may also co-edit the same document from their homes. The Computer-Supported International Learning Environments (CSILE) is an example of an integrated environment developed by the Ontario Institute for studied in Education.
  • 16.  Situating Tool By means of virtual reality (RS) extension systems, the computer can create 3-D images on display to give the user the feeling that are situated in a virtual environment. A flight simulation program is an example of situating tool which places the user in a simulated flying environment. Multi-User domains or Dungeons (MUDs) MUD Object Oriented (MOOs), and Multi-User Shared hallucination (MUSHs) are example of situating systems MUDs and MOOs are text-based virtual reality environments on the Internet. When users log on to a MOO environment.
  • 17.  Communication Tool The computer has been used in communication as evident by social networking sites as to facebook, twitter and friendster. We can even chat/talk friends and families anywhere in the globe through yahoo messenger or the one in facebook or view them through the webcam. We can send messages and information through the internet in just seconds or minutes.
  • 18. THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS It is helpful to see useful models of school learning that is ideal in achieving instructional goals through preferred application of educational technology. In these conceptual models, we shall see how effective teachers’ best interact with students in innovating learning activities, while integrating technology to the teaching learning process.
  • 19. THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS  Meaningful Learning It means full of understanding. “Meaningful Learning Opposed to rote learning and refers to a learning way where the new knowledge to acquire is related with previous knowledge” (Ausubel 2000)
  • 20. THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS  Discovery Learning It is a technique of inquiry-based instruction and is considered a constructivist based approach to education. Discovery Learning encourages students to actively use their intuition, imagination, and creativity. It uses inductive reasoning by starting with the specific and moving to the general.
  • 21. THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS  Generative Learning In generative learning, we have active learners who attend to learning events and generate meaning from these experiences and draw inferences thereby creating a personal model or explanation to the new experience in the context of existing knowledge.
  • 22. THE FOUR CONCEPTUAL MODELS  Constructivism In constructivism, the learner builds a personal understanding through learning activities and a good learning environment.
  • 23. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2 In EDTC 2, I learn that educational technology can facilitate our projects, assignments, etc., more easier. It also helps to better facilitate our communication with our students whether inside or outside their school. There are a fair contribution to us but to others, they abused the technology and not used in a proper way.
  • 24. LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2 As a future teacher, I used the technology appropriately to help my students learn quickly and well. I use it to make their focus is on my lesson only and to give a higher order thinking skills to my students.
  • 25. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH In this portfolio, it shows that the educational technology is a hands-on, project-based course designed to help educators use technology creatively and effectively in support of curriculum in the elementary and secondary school classrooms.
  • 26. THE STUDENT AFTER EDTECH This portfolio deals with the facts about the use of computer and how the people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world, through experiencing things and reflecting on those experiences.
