neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given at Cardons. I

parenteral nutrition (TPN), were fed breastmilk through their nasogastric tube (NG), and were not on

as a normal IV would be started, then introduced the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters.
She proceeded to insert the catheter without resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and
check the placement. The x ray showed that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The
nurse pulled back the catheter and started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was
in the heart, just a little high. She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the

Life span development, and ultimately who we are and become as a person, is influenced by many
different things that include biologic, cognitive, and socio emotional factors. These different areas of
development can be positively or negatively affected by environmental factors and stressors. If those
negative environmental factors are not dealt with by the time a person reaches adulthood, there is a
likelihood that the person will develop dysfunctional personalities and struggle to maintain healthy
relationships. According to Eric Erickson, those positive and negative environmental factors influence
the individual s development differently when it is experienced during a particular stage of
development. Erickson s psychosocial theory of development asserts that there are eight stages of
development that each person passes through over the course of their life. Each stage has a specific
goal that can be attained by resolving particular conflicts. This conflict resolution will result in a
healthy, well balanced individual. This paper will look at each stage of Erickson s psychosocial theory

The language that I first learned to speak at home was English. My family, considering my father s
side of the family is Mexican, has always loved the Mexican culture. They love the food, the music,
the history, and the language. When my parents learned about an elementary school that was able to
teach me both English and Spanish, they jumped at the opportunity to enroll me, and later my sister,
into the school. My parents made it a priority that my sister and I enroll because they were never able
to learn how to speak, read, write, or understand Spanish very well, so they wanted us to have this

The two speeches I will be comparing in this essay are Michelle Obama s Speech at the 2016
Democratic National Convention and Shirley Chisholm s Equal Rights For Women Speech because in
my opinion they re great speeches and they both used the appeals in the rhetorical triangle in order to
prove their point and convince the audience. They both reach out to the audience by the choice of
words they use and the way they word their sentences. Michelle Obama s speech she mainly uses all
three rhetorical appeals logos, pathos, and ethos. Shirley Chisholm s speech uses two of the three
rhetorical triangle appeals pathos, and ethos.

The first example of why I believe this is because she uses powerful statements such as We know that
our words and actions matter not just to our girls, but to children across this country kids who tell us, I
saw you on TV, I wrote a report on you for school. Kids like the little black boy who looked up at my
husband, his eyes wide with hope, and he wondered, Is my hair like yours.? By saying that people s
actions matter to children she s capable of making the audience feel compassionate, she also shows
that she doesn t care about herself that much, she keeps putting children and everyone else in the
