Evaluating Health Behaviors And Health Outcomes Associated...
My research project is primarily focused on examining the uses of Nightscout and evaluating changes
in health behaviors and health outcomes associated with its use on patients in managing their diabetes.
Nightscout is a do it yourself (DIY) mobile technology system developed by patients and caregivers to
monitor blood glucose levels remotely using Cloud technology. We are interested in studying
Nightscout because it is a new patient created innovation, and is the first successful DIY system to
allow patients and caregivers remote access to data, such as blood glucose levels, through mobile
technology. Since Nightscout is still in the earliest stages of development, we focused on studying the
community of Nightscout users for issues such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Online communities, such as CGM in the Cloud Facebook group, are a source of support for many
patients and caregivers in overcoming the challenges of managing diabetes.4 The CGM in the Cloud
Facebook group is a virtual community of family members and patients using Nightscout.3 The
Nightscout project began in February 2013, when the parent, a software programmer, of a newly
diagnosed patient started using a continuous glucose monitoring system (CGMS or CGM) to monitor
his son s glucose levels.3 Since the foundation of Nightscout in 2013, the Facebook page has gained
over 20,000 members. The Nightscout Project is a patient designed, technology driven collaborative
health innovation, however, it s a DIY device not yet approved by the Food and Drug Administration
(FDA), as a result it faces a number of legal challenges. 3 During the developmental stage of
Nightscout, there were many potential points of technical failure in the hardware and software system,
including the loss of glucose data or error in medical decisions. During these times, the average, non
technical patient and caregiver relied heavily on online peer support groups, such as the CGM in the

1905 Russian Revolution
The Russians had protested against a corrupt government and their unfair laws. There were many
different causes, events, effects, and compromises that happened. The Russians had fought long and
hard to be able to get where they are today and get a fair and just system of government. The people
involved in the Revolution was, Alexander I, Alexander II, Alexander III, Soviet, Nicholas ll, USSR,

Russian protesters against the government corruption, had been separated due to brute force from the
Russian troops. The next, was when Nicholas II, had tried to build a constitutional monarchy, then
during 1917 in the Russian Revolution, they had overthrown this type of government, and then they

Speech On Abandoned Children
There are many reasons for the large number of abandoned children in India. The children can be
unwanted (mostly girls), illegitimate or orphans due to diseases. The children have to be taken care of
one way or the other. Orphan children are the deprived and the isolated population deserving special
attention to become healthy and responsible children, physically fit, mentally alert and morally healthy
endowed with the skills and the motivation needed by society. UNICEF and global partners define an
orphan as a child who has lost one or both parents. An estimated 31 million children in India, aged 0
17 years, are orphaned and abandoned according to the most recent statistics from UNICEF.
Proper family environment plays an important role in the life of children. Nobody can deny the
important role of parents in developing balanced and harmonious development of personality. But
unfortunately cruel fortune deprives some children of the sympathetic affectionate parental care.
These children are known as orphaned children. An orphan is a child permanently bereaved of his or
her parents. In common usages, an orphan does not have any surviving parent to care for him or her.
Because of parental deprivation some children are reared in destitute homes and in orphanages. This
group of children is termed as institutionalised orphan children. These ... Show more content on

Comparing Oxygen And The Larynx
Oxygen and The Larynx
Both in Mary Oliver s Oxygen and Alice Jones s The Larynx use the same central idea that bodily
functions can do so much for a person. In Oxygen the poet describes how the character has had a
breathing issue their whole life and has an oxygen machine to help them breath well, and it is beautiful
(Oliver 824). In The Larynx the poet describes how singing requires the strength and ability to make
the body an instrument. Both poems use the body to make something beautiful, for better or for worse.
In Oxygen , the speaker is about a family member of someone who has an ill breathing problem. The
speaker describes that seeing the family member try to breath with a lack of air as the fire, stirring
with a stick of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker goes into great detail on how the larynx is compounded, with elegant jargon. The central
theme of the poem is that singing is more than a talent, and the poem uses imagery to show how from
the bottom of the larynx, Under the epiglottis flap, the long ridged tube sinks, its shaft down to the
bronchial fork (Jones 829), to the top, where sound is produced, is a process; here the cords arch, in
the hollow of this ancient instrument, curve and vibrate to make a song (Jones 829). Just like in
Oxygen , there is no rhyme scheme. But unlike Oxygen , The Larynx is written as one long sentence.
This is called a syntactical structure, this is used because, when reading out loud, it requires the reader
to draw their attention to there own breath and attempt to space out the words to take breaths. The tone
and mood of the poem also has a reaction witht e reader. It helps the reader appricate the poem when
speaking out loud through the word choice and diction. The poem also uses metephores and imagry,
like Oxygen, but also uses similys as well; small and tough they flutter, bend like bird s wing finding

Vanishing Points In Las Meninas
Diego Velazquez creates three center points in Las Meninas the palace official, the young princess,
and the King and Queen in order to emphasize the contrast between the real, ideal, and reflected
worlds.
The palace official in the doorway is the actual vanishing point of Las Meninas, which creates a life
like feel to the painting. Velazquez blurs the line between art and reality by painting Las Meninas on a
10.5 by 9 foot canvas and creates a three dimensional area that the viewer can walk into (Earle). The
lines of the ceiling and corners meet at the open door where the palace official stands, exactly eye
level to the spectator (Wicks). This vanishing point helps to establish this painting as a physical space,
rather than a mere canvas.

W H Auden On A Tyrant Essay
The W.H. Auden of the 1930s is quite a different man compared to his to his 1940s counterpart. Not
only did his personal viewpoints and opinions dramatically change, but his but the subjects of his
poems also demonstrated a marked shift. Characterized by powerful political rhetoric, his earlier work
may appear to have little in common with his later poems, which examined religious themes.
However, while the subject matter of Auden s work changes, his poems consistently forcing the
audience to reexamine their own world views. The vast majority of Auden s earlier work revolves
around the political upheaval he witnessed as a young man. His travels took him from Spain to China
to Germany as fascism threatened the stability of the entire world. ... Show more content on

As time went on, Auden gradually distanced himself from his political poems. He felt that they were
inherently dishonest, and comprised the integrity of the relationship between reader and poet by
forcing the reader to accept only one interpretation of a political event: the poet s own personal
opinion. Coupled with Auden s increasing personal spirituality, this caused the focus of his poems to
shift from politics to religion and morality. He was an observant Christian, though he only practices
the aspects of the faith that focused on betterment of mankind. He felt that like church doctrines, like
all human creations, were subject to judgment (Mendelson). This opinion is especially prominent in
his poem Victor . His protagonist had been raised in a devoutly religious environment. Throughout his
life, Victor continues to live according to the rules and regulation laid forth in the Bible. Auden uses
the concept of time as an extended metaphor to relay Victor s emotional state. As a young man in
frosty December , there is no life around Victor, and everything is bleak. His life bears no color, much
like the cold winter itself; he has his strict religious rules and nothing more. However, the deep cold
begins to slowly ebb away as April comes around. Winter concedes to spring as the beautiful Anna
brings life and vibrancy to Victor s previously barren world. He immediately falls for her, as she

The League s Best Center For The Past Seasons

to the All NBA First Team this past season. Jordan had a career year. He finished the season with per
game averages of 12.7 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Although he didn t lead the
NBA in rebounding this past season, he leads the NBA in total rebounds over the last three seasons,
finishing first in that category twice. Jordan s athletic ability is his biggest strength. It allows the
Clippers to run their free flowing, fast up tempo offense at a peek level. Without Jordan the offense
and defense would function at much more inefficient level. The only knock on Jordan s game is his
inability to convert at the free throw line. He s among the worst free throw shooters in NBA history,
but even so, Jordan s value should not be overlooked. He s just as important to the Clippers as Chris
Paul and Blake Griffin. 4. Andre Drummond Detroit Pistons Since entering the league in 2012, Andre
Drummond has evolved immensely as a player. When he entered the league, Drummond was a
liability on both ends of the floor showing an inability to play efficiently on either end, but now, four
short years later, Drummond is absolute force on both ends of the floor. His offensive

Black on Black Racism Essay
Abstract The days of picking cotton and the hierarchy of slaves are long gone but the colonial
mentality of disunity may still exists among African Americans. Some of the major conflicts that
remain at the core of this disunity, include: black on black crime, beauty and self esteem, and blacks
over representation in the criminal justice system. Although there are many reasons that support these
conflicts, one may wonder if the arrival of the social identity of blacks in America is the root cause for
the conflicts. The purpose of this quantitative study is to explore the effects of racial attitudes of
blacks on images of themselves with varying skin tones. Supplemental to the study of attitudes and
images, the social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
See attached appendix A and B. The arrival of the African American identity began with slavery and
the slave master s behavior toward the field slave and the house slave. In other words, the identity of
the African American was given by European slave masters instead of their personal creation. African
women were raped and the slave master s preferential treatment of their offspring created a hierarchy
among the slaves. As author Roger Smith (2004) explained, power and privileges were given to those
with lighter complexions over those who are darker. In the days of slavery, light skin blacks were
assigned to the house while blacks with dark skin had to work the fields. (p.1). The promise of
educational opportunities were also given to slaves with lighter complexions. The indoctrination of
Jim Crow Laws and white supremacy proved to keep the institution of slavery going even after its
abolishment. Subsequent to the abolishment of slavery, blacks traveled to northern states and cities
and created their own societies. According to author G. Reginald Daniel, in his book, More than
Black, Blue Vein societies consisted of pluralistic elites within the African American community.
Membership in these societies were determined by individuals phenotypical and cultural resemblance
with European Americans (p. 4). The structural set up of these societies created an illusion of escaping
the common stereotypes of blacks. Upon researching the topic of intraracial

Using A Part Of Speech Tagger
The tags used within the proposed patterns do not require the use of a part of speech tagger; in fact,
each tag has a list of finite possible values that is dialect dependent. So while the presented patterns
themselves, are mostly dialect independent, the range of possible values from which tags in a pattern
can be derived, depends on the dialect that is being targeted. Our work and experiments have focused
on Egyptian Arabic; and more specifically, the Cairene dialect.
In the first phase, the extraction patterns are applied on a large corpus of text obtained from twitter to
yield a set of subjective terms. In the second phase, the extracted terms, are assigned polarity based on
the normalized point wise mutual information score between them and positive and negative terms
derived from an existing polarity lexicon. Details of the process are presented in the following
subsections.

godmother got up and came up to the kids and whispered something to them. They got up and walked

water. The woman then gives the kids the water. They sit back at the table to drink the water but

She proceeded to insert the catheter without resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and
check the placement. The x ray showed that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The
nurse pulled back the catheter and started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was
in the heart, just a little high. She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the
correct place with great blood return. It was a length but very neat process to have been a part

The Controversial Issue Of Sex Education
In the early 1960 s the controversial issue of sex education started to become a more prevalent
conversation among educators and parents alike when the Food and Drug Administration approved the
sale of oral contraceptives(Szustek, 2009). Though the topic was previously being discussed as early
as mid to late 19th century, it was not deemed completely necessary or an appropriate topic for school
aged children prior to this point. In the United States more than 750,000 girls between the ages of 15
19 experience unexpected pregnancies annually and another 19 million of all newly reported Sexually
Transmitted Infection (STI) cases are young adults between the ages of 15 25(Boonstra, 2013). The
argument of whether or not sex education should be taught to students is moot since according to a
recent survey by National Public Radio about 93% of adults believe sex education is needed
(Anonymous, 2004). The more pressing issue is the content in which is to be presented to students.
There are conflicting groups that argue the validity of the methods used to convey the importance of
the apparently sensitive subject; one side of the divide are the supporters of abstinence only education
which presents a very singular approach and on the other is those that believe in the importance of
comprehensive sex education which explores a variety methods of sexual safety.

The Psychosocial Theory Of Life Span Development
Developmental Analysis
Melissa Snyder
Liberty University
Abstract
Life span development, and ultimately who we are and become as a person, is influenced by many
different things that include biologic, cognitive, and socio emotional factors. These different areas of
development can be positively or negatively affected by environmental factors and stressors. If those
negative environmental factors are not dealt with by the time a person reaches adulthood, there is a
likelihood that the person will develop dysfunctional personalities and struggle to maintain healthy
relationships. According to Eric Erickson, those positive and negative environmental factors influence
the individual s development differently when it is experienced during a particular stage of
development. Erickson s psychosocial theory of development asserts that there are eight stages of
development that each person passes through over the course of their life. Each stage has a specific
goal that can be attained by resolving particular conflicts. This conflict resolution will result in a
healthy, well balanced individual. This paper will look at each stage of Erickson s psychosocial theory
of life span development and how it applies to my own development.
Erik Erikson s theory of psychosocial development was greatly influenced by Freud and his
psychoanalytic theory. Both Freud and Erikson believed that the life span included distinct stages that

Freud says that there are no coincidences and that everything happens for a reason. In the classic
Hitchcock film, Rope, two young students, Brandon Shaw enacted by John Dall and Phillip Morgan
enacted by Farley Granger strangle a former classmate, David Kentley played by Dick Hogan. This
film portrays the true crime story of Loeb and Leopold as also written about in Superman s Crime, by
Miriam Allen deFord. In 1924, Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb, the adolescent sons of two wealthy
Chicago families, who were indicted for kidnapping and killing Bobby Franks, a 14 year old boy.
They wanted to see what it would be like to commit the ultimate perfect crime. With their wealth,
education, and relationship combined, these two juveniles considered themselves superior to society

In the film Rope an entire evening of a dinner party is held in the same room where there is a dead
body in a book chest. The guests are completely impervious of the chest disguised as a buffet table.
Only the viewers and the two hosts were conscious of the truth that lay near them. In Superman s
Crime we are given in depth detail about Loeb and Leopold s master plan before it has taken place.
Hitchcock did not show the viewers what happened prior to the strangulation of David or subsequent
to the call made to the police. This was an engrossing way of filming a movie. The movie was made to
look like it was taken in one continuous shot. This caused the viewer to know what happened the
whole time. In both the true crime story and film the readers and viewers were knew what was going
on during the entire plot scene. These were great definitions of what a dramatic irony is. But the way
Hitchcock does not include the premeditation of the murder is powerful in itself. This glamorized the
plotline by showing a clean scene with no obvious camera

Australia Job Inequalities
Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world, with over two thirds (69%) of the
population living in major cities. It also has one of the lowest population densities outside of its major
cities. Despite the vastness of Australia and the profound impact that this has on the lives of the
peoples living in rural and remote areas, relatively little is known about families living in these areas
of Australia compared to those living in major cities. (Baxter, Hayes and Gray, 2016). Majority of the
people who live in Australia, live in cities rather than rural areas because cities provide better job

Cannibalisation of Rotterdam to get rid of excess at Mersey. Cannot take the approach of not
undertaking appropriate investment projects if it disadvantages another division of the company. The
individual operations have a responsibility to operate as efficiently as possible to return maximum
value to the stakeholders. It is highly likely that any incremental business would come from other
competing plants that have higher production costs. There is nothing to indicate that the upgrade
would result in cannibalisation of the Rotterdam plant. Therefore this should not be a consideration.

There is a clear conflict of interest with bonuses are linked to the size of the overall operation. This

Europeans looked at themselves and their world.
A revolution in medicine began in the 16th century. During this time Andreas Vesalius and William

Reflective Essay In English
The language that I first learned to speak at home was English. My family, considering my father s
side of the family is Mexican, has always loved the Mexican culture. They love the food, the music,
the history, and the language. When my parents learned about an elementary school that was able to
teach me both English and Spanish, they jumped at the opportunity to enroll me, and later my sister,
into the school. My parents made it a priority that my sister and I enroll because they were never able
to learn how to speak, read, write, or understand Spanish very well, so they wanted us to have this
fantastic opportunity. They also decided to enroll us so that we are able to talk with our family
members who live in Mexico that speak no English at all. Although I was too young at the time to ask
to be enrolled into that school, with my knowledge now I know that I definitely would have advocated
for that to happen.
Throughout my life, school has played a critical role in increasing my knowledge about the target
language and about the culture of the target language. Because my parents do not speak Spanish, they
were not able to help my advancement in the language as much as they and I would have liked them
to. They did, however, make a fantastic effort to teach me as much as they knew about the Mexican
culture. Being in a school with an immersion program has aided my development immensely. In

They are crucial elements in protecting the fuel system of your vehicle. They require routine
maintenance so as to prevent even the tiniest specks of dirt particles from entering your fuel system.
As a result, your fuel injector is not clogged by dirt which may block fuel delivery to your engine or
cause poor gas mileage and sub par vehicle performance.
How to replace air filters
It is quite easy to change the air filters of your car. You only need to ensure you have parked your car
safely with the appropriate tools and the right type of air filter as specified by the vehicle
manufacturer. Once you are ready, proceed as follows;
Locate the air filters: Ensure the engine is cool before beginning the replacement. Most air filters are
usually located in the black plastic casing close to the top of your engine.
Open the casing: You will need a standard screwdriver, Phillips head screwdriver, butter knife and rag
to open the casing depending on whether the case is held in place by screws or metal clips. Use the
right screwdriver to unscrew the screws.
Remove the old and replace: Lift the old air filter out of the casing, wipe any dirt in the casing with
the rag and place the new air filter at the top. Reattach the screws or clips to finish the replacement

The Use Of Automatic Real Time Tracking And Augmented 3d...
The interest to detect and track the endovascular devices during X ray guided interventional
procedures spans over a decade. The recent developments in real time detection, tracking,
visualization over an augmented reality with multi modality fusion has transformed the surgical
environment. However, it s quite challenging to combine robustness of automatic real time tracking
and augmented 3D visualization. In addition, various endovascular procedures use different devices
and tracking requirements (tip or whole catheter).
The important parameters that affect the detection and tracking can be classified in to 3 broad
categories; endovascular devices, projection geometry and motion. At first, the detection of various
shapes and radio opaque devices is a challenge. Secondly, the detection is challenged by image
magnification and image geometry by various projections (Cranio caudal tilt). Thirdly, and
importantly real time tracking challenged by the patient motion and the deformation of the vessel.
Over the years, many of these challenges were addressed with success limited to devices. However,
the potential clinical benefits; to deploy the fenestrated stent grafts accurately without blocking
branches of abdominal Aorta (renal), to reduce contrast medium injected that might reduce the risk of
renal pathologies, to reduce the radiation exposure to the patient, personal and the environmental,
sustains the research interest. In addition, a successfully registered 3D

Chinese Culture In China
The Chinese culture is mainly located in China. Chinese people refer to China as the middle nation.
China has a land area of 3,691,502 square miles which makes China the third largest nation in the
world. Due to its large size, China borders thirteen other countries including North Korea, Russia,
Vietnam, and India; and since the country is so large there are diverse climates depending on where a
person is located (Culture of China, N.d). (ENTER) China is also home to many endangered animals
like the red crowned crane, giant panda, golden monkey, and the Yangtze Alligator (Culture of China,

Since China is the third largest nation in the world, the country has a huge population. China is
actually the most populated nation in the world with the estimated population at 1,261,832,482. 92%
of the population are Han Chinese while the other 8% are Zhuang, Uyhgur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao,
Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, and Korean (Culture of China, n.d). (ENTER)
Many things that are common throughout multiple cultures and are even considered a necessity,
originated from the Chinese culture. Paper making was created in China in 105 A.C (Cree, 2010)
Woodblock printing was a common practice but was expensive and time consuming. This is all

Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet
On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social
and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle
amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the
hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum,
including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the
shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789
1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural differences that developed are

The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting
was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed
themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well
enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the
painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter:
...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical
disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary
movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary
vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and
Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand,
tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a
departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way
of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair.
Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would
begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the massacre of the
painting. He depicted many scenes on

The Government Should Have A Big Or Lesser Role Regulating...

There is much debate on whether the government should have a big or lesser role in regulating the
economy. Many people think that the government should be more involved, but I believe that the
government should receive a lesser role in regulating the economy because of how it affects
individuals in global trade and corporations. Less government regulation in global trade will be a
better decision and create lesser problems. The purpose of the government in a global trade is to make
sure that the transaction between consumers and producers is not interrupted. They must make sure

What Does Today Owe Tomorrow tackles the question whether we should help the future generation
even if they have not done anything to give back. Scientists believed that (3) if we continue pouring
greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at ever rising rates, the unknown will remain substantial
because of how much of the present will affect the suffering of the future people. However,
economists in the field believe that the thing to do is to put a price on emissions of greenhouses gases
that would raise the price of gasoline and electricity. Doing this would stop emissions and people
would want to buy better and efficient cars. Because this is unknown, another likely answer is to push
harder on climate policies or increase emissions price. The last article focuses on the issue of The First
Amendment. The First Amendment (4) has become the darling of economic libertarians and corporate
lawyers who have recognized its power to immunize private enterprise from legal restraint. This has
become the patron saint for protestors in the article, First Amendment, Patron Saint of Protesters, Is
Embraced by Corporations. Because of the First Amendment, cases involving businesses have
increased from 1.5 to 2.2 a year and those involving individuals have fallen 4.2 to 3.6. With the use of
the First Amendment, corporations use this against their workers, not allowing them to use their right

Normally, if a system has a higher value than value, the system will be overloaded and the waiting
time can go to infinite levels. Though this case there is an exception, as is evident in Exhibit 8. After
the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be delayed to these
later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps relieve some of the
over capacity at the 18th hour.
b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time.
The costs are $128.92 for the turbojet, $319.57 for the regional jet and $853.82 for the conventional
jet.
You cannot calculate the delay time/ delay cost for the 18th hour because the average arrival rate is
greater than the total expected runway capacity.
Under moderate weather conditions capacity drops down to 78 88 operations per hour.
Under severe weather conditions the capacity drops to 40 60 operations per hour.
In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the runway
capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For severe weather, even if you get the planes out
at a later hour it would still take much longer than if there was moderate weather. Most planes will
land in hour 19 because it s not as busy.
4. Our overall recommendation to FAA for the city of Boston would not be to pick one option over the
other. The two different options: allowing Massport to build a new runway

The Period Of Victorian Times
Late Victorian civilians had no hope or faith left by the end of Queen Victoria s reign. Victorian poets
either attempted to change the mind and hearts of Victorian people for the benefit of the throne or
attempted to raise awareness for the benefit of progress over the course of the era s entirety.
Nineteenth century England reached its height as a world imperial power and had changed as
dramatically as it had in all of its history combined during this time (Greenblatt 2145). The population
of London grew from two million to over six million and industrial production techniques had a
profound impact on everyone in all aspects of life in their culture (2145). Unregulated industrialization

British parliament passed a reform bill that adapted voting right in order to reflect the population
growth (2146). This Reform Bill marked the beginning of a new age of political power. The 1830
1840s became known as the Time of Troubles because of industrialization which caused a domino
effect of trouble for the masses (2146). Working conditions were awful, especially in the mines and
factories and for the women and children already in poverty that were forced to work in these
conditions (2146). Literature of the period focuses on the plight of the poor and the new urban reality
of industrial England (2148). Writers often commented that there were two England s... Wealthy
England and Poor England (2149). As of 1837 just half of England s population was literate, however
that figure continued to grow because of an imperial push for education even though in the early and
mid Victorian periods women had very limited access to education until 1870 (2148).
Among the early Victorian poets is the very well known, Alfred (Lord) Tennyson who offered ideas of
hope in many of his works as long as trusted the crown and/or were wealthy. The work that stands out
the most addressing commoners is The Lady of Shalott which maintained a strong influence
throughout the entirety of the Victorian era (although written and revised in the early period). As
official poetic spokesman for the reign of Victoria, Tennyson felt called

How Does Michelle Obama Use Ethos In Equal Rights For Women
The two speeches I will be comparing in this essay are Michelle Obama s Speech at the 2016

my opinion they re great speeches and they both used the appeals in the rhetorical triangle in order to
prove their point and convince the audience. They both reach out to the audience by the choice of
words they use and the way they word their sentences. Michelle Obama s speech she mainly uses all
three rhetorical appeals logos, pathos, and ethos. Shirley Chisholm s speech uses two of the three
rhetorical triangle appeals pathos, and ethos.

The first example of why I believe this is because she uses powerful statements such as We know that

husband, his eyes wide with hope, and he wondered, Is my hair like yours.? By saying that people s
actions matter to children she s capable of making the audience feel compassionate, she also shows
that she doesn t care about herself that much, she keeps putting children and everyone else in the
country before herself. When she says The little black boy who looked up at my husband, his eyes
wide with hope she helps the audience see how children hope to be like certain adults when they grow
up because children tend to want to grow up and be like their role models. Another great example to
why I believe her speech was better at persuading her target is when she states Police officers and

Orlando to donate blood because it could have been their son, their daughter in that club. Leaders like

The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters any
preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original.
Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues
that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The
purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in
the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. As an art
form, translation for Benjamin is not about propagating ideas or beliefs but is about embarking on the
task of attaining pure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the
meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His question
assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art.
Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its
potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another
language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements
among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions
between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the
burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that languages are not strangers to one
another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical relationships, interrelated in what they want to
express (72). The affinity between languages can best be brought out by an accurate transmission of
the form and meaning of the original

In The Larynx the poet describes how singing requires the strength and ability to make the body an instrument. Both poems use the body to make something beautiful, for better or for worse. The speaker goes into great detail on how the larynx is compounded, with elegant jargon. The central theme of the poem is that singing is more than a talent, and the poem uses imagery to show how from the bottom of the larynx, Under the epiglottis flap, the long ridged tube sinks, its shaft down to the bronchial fork (Jones 829), to the top, where sound is produced, is a process; here the cords arch, in the hollow of this ancient instrument, curve and vibrate to make a song (Jones 829). Just like in Oxygen , there is no rhyme scheme. But unlike Oxygen , The Larynx is written as one long sentence. This is called a syntactical structure, this is used because, when reading out loud, it requires the reader to draw their attention to there own breath and attempt to space out the words to take breaths. The tone and mood of the poem also has a reaction witht e reader. It helps the reader appricate the poem when speaking out loud through the word choice and diction. • 7. Vanishing Points In Las Meninas Diego Velazquez creates three center points in Las Meninas the palace official, the young princess, and the King and Queen in order to emphasize the contrast between the real, ideal, and reflected worlds. The palace official in the doorway is the actual vanishing point of Las Meninas, which creates a life like feel to the painting. Velazquez blurs the line between art and reality by painting Las Meninas on a 10.5 by 9 foot canvas and creates a three dimensional area that the viewer can walk into (Earle). The lines of the ceiling and corners meet at the open door where the palace official stands, exactly eye level to the spectator (Wicks). This vanishing point helps to establish this painting as a physical space, rather than a mere canvas. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. W H Auden On A Tyrant Essay The W.H. Auden of the 1930s is quite a different man compared to his to his 1940s counterpart. Not only did his personal viewpoints and opinions dramatically change, but his but the subjects of his poems also demonstrated a marked shift. Characterized by powerful political rhetoric, his earlier work may appear to have little in common with his later poems, which examined religious themes. However, while the subject matter of Auden s work changes, his poems consistently forcing the audience to reexamine their own world views. As time went on, Auden gradually distanced himself from his political poems. He felt that they were inherently dishonest, and comprised the integrity of the relationship between reader and poet by forcing the reader to accept only one interpretation of a political event: the poet s own personal opinion. Coupled with Auden s increasing personal spirituality, this caused the focus of his poems to shift from politics to religion and morality. He was an observant Christian, though he only practices the aspects of the faith that focused on betterment of mankind. He felt that like church doctrines, like all human creations, were subject to judgment (Mendelson). This opinion is especially prominent in his poem Victor . His protagonist had been raised in a devoutly religious environment. Throughout his life, Victor continues to live according to the rules and regulation laid forth in the Bible. Auden uses the concept of time as an extended metaphor to relay Victor s emotional state. As a young man in frosty December , there is no life around Victor, and everything is bleak. His life bears no color, much like the cold winter itself; he has his strict religious rules and nothing more. However, the deep cold begins to slowly ebb away as April comes around. Winter concedes to spring as the beautiful Anna brings life and vibrancy to Victor s previously barren world. He immediately falls for her, as she represents a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the major conflicts that remain at the core of this disunity, include: black on black crime, beauty and self esteem, and blacks over representation in the criminal justice system. Although there are many reasons that support these conflicts, one may wonder if the arrival of the social identity of blacks in America is the root cause for the conflicts. The arrival of the African American identity began with slavery and the slave master s behavior toward the field slave and the house slave. In other words, the identity of the African American was given by European slave masters instead of their personal creation. African women were raped and the slave master s preferential treatment of their offspring created a hierarchy among the slaves. As author Roger Smith (2004) explained, power and privileges were given to those with lighter complexions over those who are darker. In the days of slavery, light skin blacks were assigned to the house while blacks with dark skin had to work the fields. (p.1). The promise of educational opportunities were also given to slaves with lighter complexions. The indoctrination of Jim Crow Laws and white supremacy proved to keep the institution of slavery going even after its abolishment. Subsequent to the abolishment of slavery, blacks traveled to northern states and cities and created their own societies. According to author G. Reginald Daniel, in his book, More than Black, Blue Vein societies consisted of pluralistic elites within the African American community. The Controversial Issue Of Sex Education In the early 1960 s the controversial issue of sex education started to become a more prevalent conversation among educators and parents alike when the Food and Drug Administration approved the sale of oral contraceptives(Szustek, 2009). The more pressing issue is the content in which is to be presented to students. There are conflicting groups that argue the validity of the methods used to convey the importance of the apparently sensitive subject; one side of the divide are the supporters of abstinence only education which presents a very singular approach and on the other is those that believe in the importance of comprehensive sex education which explores a variety methods of sexual safety. • 21. The Psychosocial Theory Of Life Span Development Developmental Analysis Melissa Snyder Liberty University Abstract Life span development, and ultimately who we are and become as a person, is influenced by many different things that include biologic, cognitive, and socio emotional factors. These different areas of development can be positively or negatively affected by environmental factors and stressors. If those negative environmental factors are not dealt with by the time a person reaches adulthood, there is a likelihood that the person will develop dysfunctional personalities and struggle to maintain healthy relationships. According to Eric Erickson, those positive and negative environmental factors influence the individual s development differently when it is experienced during a particular stage of development. Erickson s psychosocial theory of development asserts that there are eight stages of development that each person passes through over the course of their life. Each stage has a specific goal that can be attained by resolving particular conflicts. This conflict resolution will result in a healthy, well balanced individual. They also decided to enroll us so that we are able to talk with our family members who live in Mexico that speak no English at all. Although I was too young at the time to ask to be enrolled into that school, with my knowledge now I know that I definitely would have advocated for that to happen. Throughout my life, school has played a critical role in increasing my knowledge about the target language and about the culture of the target language. Because my parents do not speak Spanish, they were not able to help my advancement in the language as much as they and I would have liked them to. They did, however, make a fantastic effort to teach me as much as they knew about the Mexican culture. Being in a school with an immersion program has aided my development immensely. • 33. The Use Of Automatic Real Time Tracking And Augmented 3d... The interest to detect and track the endovascular devices during X ray guided interventional procedures spans over a decade. The recent developments in real time detection, tracking, visualization over an augmented reality with multi modality fusion has transformed the surgical environment. However, it s quite challenging to combine robustness of automatic real time tracking and augmented 3D visualization. In addition, various endovascular procedures use different devices and tracking requirements (tip or whole catheter). The important parameters that affect the detection and tracking can be classified in to 3 broad categories; endovascular devices, projection geometry and motion. At first, the detection of various shapes and radio opaque devices is a challenge. Secondly, the detection is challenged by image magnification and image geometry by various projections (Cranio caudal tilt). Thirdly, and importantly real time tracking challenged by the patient motion and the deformation of the vessel. Over the years, many of these challenges were addressed with success limited to devices. However, the potential clinical benefits; to deploy the fenestrated stent grafts accurately without blocking branches of abdominal Aorta (renal), to reduce contrast medium injected that might reduce the risk of renal pathologies, to reduce the radiation exposure to the patient, personal and the environmental, sustains the research interest. Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum, including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789 1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural differences that developed are transparent through understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter: ...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand, tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair. Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the massacre of the painting. He depicted many scenes on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Arnelyn Fabia Dr. Link/Mr. Sazo Economics There is much debate on whether the government should have a big or lesser role in regulating the economy. Many people think that the government should be more involved, but I believe that the government should receive a lesser role in regulating the economy because of how it affects individuals in global trade and corporations. Less government regulation in global trade will be a better decision and create lesser problems. What Does Today Owe Tomorrow tackles the question whether we should help the future generation even if they have not done anything to give back. Scientists believed that (3) if we continue pouring greenhouse gases into the atmosphere at ever rising rates, the unknown will remain substantial because of how much of the present will affect the suffering of the future people. However, economists in the field believe that the thing to do is to put a price on emissions of greenhouses gases that would raise the price of gasoline and electricity. Doing this would stop emissions and people would want to buy better and efficient cars. Because this is unknown, another likely answer is to push harder on climate policies or increase emissions price. The last article focuses on the issue of The First Amendment. Though this case there is an exception, as is evident in Exhibit 8. After the 18th hour the airport s arrivals are under operational capacity so the planes can be delayed to these later hours, making the system still able to function. This roll over effect helps relieve some of the over capacity at the 18th hour. b. For hour 17 there is a 12.52 minute delay time. The costs are $128.92 for the turbojet, $319.57 for the regional jet and $853.82 for the conventional jet. You cannot calculate the delay time/ delay cost for the 18th hour because the average arrival rate is greater than the total expected runway capacity. Under moderate weather conditions capacity drops down to 78 88 operations per hour. Under severe weather conditions the capacity drops to 40 60 operations per hour. In these weather conditions for both the 17th hour and 18th hour the arrival rate exceeds the runway capacity, and we cannot calculate the waiting time. For severe weather, even if you get the planes out at a later hour it would still take much longer than if there was moderate weather. Most planes will land in hour 19 because it s not as busy. 4. Victorian poets either attempted to change the mind and hearts of Victorian people for the benefit of the throne or attempted to raise awareness for the benefit of progress over the course of the era s entirety. Nineteenth century England reached its height as a world imperial power and had changed as dramatically as it had in all of its history combined during this time (Greenblatt 2145). The 1830 1840s became known as the Time of Troubles because of industrialization which caused a domino effect of trouble for the masses (2146). Working conditions were awful, especially in the mines and factories and for the women and children already in poverty that were forced to work in these conditions (2146). Literature of the period focuses on the plight of the poor and the new urban reality of industrial England (2148). Writers often commented that there were two England s... Wealthy England and Poor England (2149). As of 1837 just half of England s population was literate, however that figure continued to grow because of an imperial push for education even though in the early and mid Victorian periods women had very limited access to education until 1870 (2148). Among the early Victorian poets is the very well known, Alfred (Lord) Tennyson who offered ideas of hope in many of his works as long as trusted the crown and/or were wealthy. The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters any preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original. Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that languages are not strangers to one another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical relationships, interrelated in what they want to express (72).
