The Job Of The 3 Job Postings
The 3 job postings I choose to look at an IT specialist at Greater Houston Interventional Pain
Associates in Bellaire, TX. An IT Desktop Engineer position at Northwest Community Hospital in
Arlington Heights, IL. A Internet Systems Administrator at Lincoln Financial Group, locations in
Greensboro, NC; Omaha NE; Fort Wayne, IN.
Each job involves support on a computer system, more specifically the IT specialist and IT desktop
engineer have a focus on hardware and software components of computers, which I m very familiar
with. The internet systems administrator focuses on network systems and web infrastructure support, I

with a Linux OS. More specifically the position requires knowledge in two distributions of Linux, I m
only familiar with the basic Red Hat distribution, but I know of several other types. Understanding
and operating Linux is important in IT especially in the Networking and web fields as a majority of
those systems are run with Linux. Web servers and host a majorly run with Linux. Linux is vital to
understand as there is note many people knowledgeable in it, however, it is a very challenging system
to learn and something I need to practice at.
Expanding upon Linux, I have a strong desire to learn it. While at my internship at Harris, one of the
people with whom I worked closely with was a master of Linux. It is a very intriguing operating
system that is highly flexible. It has the highest security as its code is unique because it is open source,
which allows for it to be programmed into any system. I have seen Linux based software used to hack
into a computer, duplicate hard drives, and emulate systems.
The IT specialist requires some knowledge using the cloud services. I m not sure if that includes
knowing how to set those up services or making apps within those

Religion in Handmaids Tale
Religion in Handmaids Tale Religion is the opiate of the masses by Karl Marx. This is a quote which
states that religion controls the human mind because God can see everything at all times, all seeing,
and unlike the police or the government nothing can be hidden from God. This is the technique of
control that is used in Gilead. The punishments given from the government and from religious
societies are different. The government gives punishments as time in prison or fines which can only
last the humans lifetime. This can only happen if it proven in court and there are many ways to escape
the punishments as bribing the judges. In the other hand Religion has more effect in the humans mind
because if they do anything which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Main Cause Of The American Civil War
The one main cause of the American Civil war must be resolved, and while there are many ideas,
history reveals that there was only one. There are many arguable motives to the start of the Civil War,
but there are four main concepts. These four concepts were slavery, taxation, the election of Abraham
Lincoln and lastly, struggling with power between the Northern and Southern states. To start with, the
end of slavery is undoubtedly one of the most popular arguments to the creation of the Civil War.
While many consider slavery as the cause of the Civil War, they are mistaken (Historynet). To support
this statement, the facts simply are that slavery has been in our country ever since its formation. If
slavery was the single cause of the Civil War, that war would have begun long before it truly started in
1861. While the people saw slavery as a great evil, they did not in fact go to war because of it
(Historynet). Also great disputes with slavery, that were big enough to start a war, did not appear until
it had ended. The ending of slavery infuriated the Southern states. The North wanted to tax the South
because they were becoming more profitable on cotton (Historynet). Slavery was not the issue, as
slaves fought IN the civil war for both the North and the South. Southern states saw the ending of
slavery as the North seizing dominant power and overriding the union (Historynet). Southern states
thought the North had no right to do this, and by doing so, Northern states were

Elizabeth Bennet Research Paper
Elizabeth Bennet, a woman of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, was doomed to be
forever tied to the expectations society had for women of the time. She was to be wed to a befitting
suitor, and behave as a woman should. That being said, it becomes quite clear to the reader (along with
the other characters) that Elizabeth couldn t care less of the expectations society had for her at least,
far less than most women of her time did. Elizabeth, while tied to the society she was born into, did
not let the whims of the populace dictate every move she made in her life, most specifically of how
and when to be wed.
The standards for men and women of the time between 1796 1813 dictated nearly every aspect of an
individual s life. It told each person how to behave and how they will advance in society. The most
important thing to a woman of this time was her own reputation. Her class and familial wealth were
the main contributors to how others perceived her. It was best for a woman to marry well (wealthy,
good breeding, good family background, etc.) to maintain a good and sturdy reputation. However, a
woman couldn t just worry about herself and how others perceived her. There was also the worry of
the family reputation, which, as it was, would also affect a woman s reputation. If the ... Show more

of her too much, society played a bigger role onto her behavior and concerns than both she and the

Great Britain And The European Union
The recent decision of Great Britain to leave the European Union coincides with the recent election of
Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States. Both events can be explained by using economic
and cultural arguments. In order to fully understand these occurrences, one must understand the
economic anxiety as well as the anti globalisation sentiment that surrounded the Brexit movement.
Trump s candidacy involves some of the same aspects, yet Trump s voter demographic, the white,
working class, must also be studied. In the end, it can be determined that there is arguably more of a
cultural reasoning to these incidences.
The instances of Great Britain s exit from the EU and the election of Donald Trump were both so
originally downplayed that when both possibilities came to light, the world was in shock and awe.
June 23, 2016 was the first shock as Great Britain held a referendum in order to decide the question of
whether or not the country should remain within the European Union. Brexit was the winning vote.
Political elites had been defeated and the complaints of the voters were heard. These complaints
stemmed from economic anxiety within the country and the demise of the support of globalisation.
The Economist article, Drawbridges Up , describes the way in which voters wished to take control of
borders once again in order to slow the flow of immigrants and refugees.
The Trump candidacy shares some of the same fundamental aspects of Brexit yet Trumps true rise to

Technological Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Spanish
Technological Advantages The Spanish forces that arrived in Mexico with Cortes numbered five
hundred and eight and were staggeringly outnumbered by the Mexica Empire. However, these Spanish
forces held a number of technological advantages that helped counter this numerical disadvantage.
Three technological advantages that were particularly important to the Spanish success were steel,
gunpowder and horses. These three thigs gave the Spanish an advantage in both offensive and
defensive capabilities. They also served as a major psychological blow to the Mexica forces. The first
technological advantage held by the Spanish was the use of steel weapons which proved far more
capable than the indigenous weaponry. The Spanish were equipped with steel swords, lances and other
weapons. These weapons provided the Spanish with a tool that was both faster than the indigenous
weapons and more capable of cutting through cloth armors. This gave the Spanish the ability to
quickly and easily kill the indigenous warriors. On the other hand, the primary weaponry used by the
indigenous peoples were arrows, two handed swords with stone edges, lances and thrown stones.
These weapons were both slower than the Spanish weapons and were much less effective at cutting
into the Spaniards despite the fact that the Spanish wore similar armor to the indigenous warriors. This
advantage was both known and fully utilized by Cortes, who attempted to further increase the
defenses of his men by ordering his men to pay particular attention to wearing effective armor on the
head, neck and legs which had proven to be weak points in the Spanish armor. This advantage in
defenses was fully illustrated in the earlier battles with the warriors from Tlaxcala wherein the Spanish
forces faced over three thousand warriors. In this conflict, according to Bernal Diaz, the Spanish faced
a hail of arrows, stones and javelins before fighting at close range with the far more numerous
Tlaxcalan warriors. The result of this battle was the death of a single Spaniard and the injuring of
sixty, many of which were still able to continue fighting relatively unimpeded. This ability of the
Spaniards to quickly cut through the enemy while simultaneously only taking minor

Liquidity era tio ns
How quickly will my assets convert to cash?
By providing information on assets, liabilities, and stockholders equity, the balance sheet provides a
basis for computing rates of return and evaluating the capital structure of the enterprise. As our
opening story indicates, analysts also use information in the balance sheet to assess a company s risk2
and future cash flows. In this regard, analysts use the balance sheet to assess a company s liquidity,
solvency, and financial flexibility. Liquidity describes the amount of time that is expected to elapse
until an asset is realized or otherwise converted into cash or until a liability has to be paid. 3 Creditors
are interested in short term liquidity ratios, such as the ratio of cash (or near cash) to short term
liabilities. These ratios indicate whether a company, like Amazon, will have the resources to pay its
current and maturing obligations. Similarly, stockholders assess liquidity to evaluate the possibility of
future cash dividends or the buyback of shares. In general, the greater Amazon s liquidity, the lower its
risk of failure.

The Revenge Tragedy Of Hamlet Essay
Issara Butt
Professor Abbott
English 102
November 30, 2016
The Revenge Tragedy of Hamlet Revenge tragedies share some common characteristics of the play
Hamlet which classify them in the group of many great stories such as The Spanish Tragedy, and King
Lear. A vengeful ghost, a play within a play, and the main character who seeks revenge on an
opponent and murdered (KAY). At some point in life many of us feel the need to seek revenge and
never actually act upon it, but what if we did? What would be the consequences and what would life
be like afterwards. The thoughts we have of this makes the stories of revenge tragedies exciting and
intriguing. They are our thoughts written on paper and into a story making as if what we think is
actually happening. In the time of Shakespearean writing, things would have gone slightly different.
The play Hamlet, is a prime example of a revenge tragedy in its refined state of written speech.
Hamlet is a revenge tragedy for many reasons, not only that but it is the most written, re enacted, and
read play of all time (TUMIEL). The multiple plots of revenge, murders, and ghost appearances makes
Hamlet the leading play of revenge tragedies and most studied currently in academic curriculums. It is
believed to be that William Shakespeare s Hamlet was based off of Thomas Kyd s story, Ur Hamlet
(MABILLARD). Although Ur Hamlet was a rough and uncut version of a revenge tragedy and needed
further developing, but Shakespeare s Hamlet is well refined,

The Relationship Between Modernity and the First World War
The First World War, also known as the Great War of 1914 1918, is not an event that manifested
overnight; it was the result of ever growing tension among European nations. This conflict was
brought about by factors such as, nationalism, militarism, and the Alliance system. An upheaval such
as the First World War was witness to the emergence of the glorification of war, struggle, despair,
destruction and immense loss of life. The First World War brought about a defining moment in the
history of the modern consciousness. The modern world was born anew with a self conscious
awareness of plight and modern society. This awareness has been characterized by a profound sense of
the differences between past and present. The process of modernity ... Show more content on

The effect the war had on both the political and economic sector was so significant that the First
World War marks the commencement of the modern era. Socialist thought emerged due to revolutions
in Russia, and imperialism lost its appeal. A desire to avoid further conflict also arose at the
culmination of the First World War, and individuals hoped that this war would be the war to end all
wars, which encouraged many nations to resolve disputes with one another. The societal structure of
every European nation that participated in the war changed irreversibly. The war not only facilitated
change, it played a powerful role in molding its quality and strength. This view of the war suggests its
pivotal role in directing the destinies of the contemporary world it is in this sense that the war was
possibly a turning point. The class system in Britain was changed and lower class consciousness grew.
New nations were formed in Eastern Europe, and a new identity was to be formed in Germany, an
identity without imperialistic values and goals. Though, not only did European nations change, so to
did warfare. The advancements of the industrial age were applied to weapons and eventually to tactics
as well, changing the face of warfare perpetually. The year 1914 signaled the conclusion of a rather
peaceful century on the European continent, with unparalleled invention and new scientific
developments. The vision of a future filled with peace, nourished by greater than

The Great Plague of London in 1665 was a horrific blow to Londoners. Before this plague would be at

The, A Venetian Nun And Early Modern Italian Author
Arcangela Tarabotti, a Venetian nun and early modern Italian author, spent the vast majority of her life
in an Italian convent writing various texts centered on issues of forced enclosure and the patriarchy.
Throughout her lifetime, she published five works, but one of her most poignant, Paternal Tyranny,
spoke to these issues in a uniquely powerful way. Indeed, Tarabotti focused on three significant main
points: the hypocrisy of putting daughters in convents, the problems with male patriarchy as a whole,
and her own interpretation of the Bible. She presented these points with the help of several rhetorical
strategies throughout the novel, such as, her ability to turn around popular claims about women and
apply them to men, her strong use of references to the Bible and popular literary works, her use of
parables throughout the work to clearly give examples of her arguments, and many more. By
exploring each of her arguments, we can see how she used these various rhetorical strategies to her
advantage. Indeed, one of her most interesting arguments throughout the novel was her own
interpretation of the Bible and the various people in the Bible. The reader is introduced to this
argument early on in the first book. For example, Tarabotti believes that Adam, not Eve, is mainly
responsible for the fall from grace. She argues that, if he [Adam] alone had the grace of free will and
was superior to Eve, she would not have sinned at all, despite the serpent s promptings and

Organizational and Change Management Models
Models of Organizational Change Introduction The world is experiencing unprecedented changes in
the structure and operation of organizations. This has increased the challenges that confront
organizations. New competition from unexpected places is a huge challenge. So are the cultural issues
that come with a diverse, opinionated, and often far flung workforce. The need for fast acting,
effective, sustained organizational change will continue to increase. In fact, it will increase even more
rapidly than it is now. The flattening of the world through globalization has sent market forces in new
directions. Organizations must react to this increasingly chaotic market swiftly and effectively. The
McKinsey 7 S Model and Lewin s three step model are two of the most influential models of
organizational change in the business world. The McKinsey 7 S model emphasizes the role of
structural factors in organizational change, while Lewin s three step model is rooted in behavioral
factors. Thesis: The McKinsey 7 S model is grounded in questionable research methods and an
excessive focus on structural factors. Lewin s three step model is more incisive and relevant because it
is rooted in principles of human behavior. Background McKinsey s 7 S Model In the book, In Search
of Excellence, Peters and Water identified eight common features of excellent organizations, which
they defined as organizations which have achieved sustained profitability and innovation. These

Cubism by Pablo Picasso and George Braques
During the beginning of the 20th century the world was developing at an unprecedented, intense
speed, artists were looking for a new Avant garde way to create works. Hence, cubism came to life a
truly revolutionary style of modern art developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braques (Lance 2010
:2). Many critics challenged this new style due to its unconventional use of semiotics and lack of
social sense. However, this is exactly what Cubists wanted to be, unconventional challenging the
traditions of Western art which they believed had become tired and run its course. As the world was
developing and new inventions were being created such as the car, aeroplane , cinematography and the
telephone. People like Picasso and Braque found it increasingly difficult to attempt to create works on
the basis of these ideas. They believed that the modernity of these things and the society at the time
was unable to be represented by the exhausted constraints of the conventional forms of representation
which had been around since as early on as the Renaissance. Moving away from the traditional
Western rules of what was suitable when creating art dadists and surrealists start to undermine artistic
convention ( Freeman 1989 : 1) and in turn the cubists do to . As Freeman states in her article, they
were attracted to that which appealed to people not aesthetically but rather on an intellectual level,
hence why critics believed that they had become devoid of any social sense because

Why Students Should Not Volunteer At School
Some schools require students to participate in volunteer programs in their community in order to
graduate. Is this reasonable? Students should not have to volunteer to receive their diploma. School
systems should not make student volunteer because it defeats the purpose of volunteering, students
may be incapable of volunteering, and they have already worked four years for their diploma.
The first reason students should not volunteer is because it defeats the purpose of volunteering. If
students are forced to do something they are not going to put in as much effort as they would if they
had decided to volunteer on their own. Volunteering is about helping people and if the students do not
chose to volunteer they are not doing it because they want to help their community they are doing it
because they have to to get their diploma. This is one reason volunteering should not be required to

I have read The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant by W.D Wetherell. This story is about a fourteen year
old boy who is trying to impress a seventeen year old girl. In this journal I will be questioning and
evaluating.
G pick Sheila or bass?
Y bass R fish a lot/auto R important doesn t dump rod R big!!!
Y Sheila R attractive/17 R watches her R willing to hide the most important thing in his life
G I think he will pick the fish because he will realize that he s too young
In this story I wonder if the narrator picks the bass over Sheila. One option is that he will pick the
bass. The narrator fishes a ton because he always practices, For example the story states during the ...

One way she was self centered is when she was always complaining about something. Weather is was
every last noise or when her feet were hurting from being in the canoe. Second is when they were in
the canoe she never once said thank you. She also was always talking about herself and what she did,
and what she enjoyed. She never asked about him and how he was doing. Last she was speaking her
mind and her opinions before thinking, like she had hatred towards fishing, and that was the narrator
passion. Also when Sheila told the narrator he s funny, odd, different, and dreamy. Sheila was very big
headed in many ways, but there s three main points in this story. First, she was always having huge
parties and she only invited the best group in her grade. Second, she always wants the best of the best.
For an example, she was asking the narrator if they can take her dad s car to the party and not even
appreciating the little things. She danced with the narrator for only a few songs and then ditched him
for Eric Caswell and leaving in his Corvette. Last Shelia never realized or, even appreciated what the
narrator did. Even when she would be at the swim meets the narrator tried his best to at least get her to
notice him and she never took notice. When he tried to make it romantic to take a canoe ride there she
almost seemed ungrateful as she would get settled in not even looking at him. So all of these things
that occurred in the story proves she is self centered and big

Explain The Motives For European Exploration
Motives for European Exploration
The Age of Exploration was a period from the early 15th century and continuing into the early
17th century. Historians generally recognize three motives for European exploration and colonization.
God, glory, and gold are describing the motives generating the exploration, expansion and conquests,
allowing European countries to rise.
In 622, Christianity was faced with new challenges. Islamic religion spread throughout the
Middle East and into Europe. Soon thereafter, European Christians began the Crusades, a campaign of
violence against Muslims to dominate the Holy Land. Moreover, Europeans decided to reclaim the
holy city from Muslim rulers as well as conquer the entire surrounding area.

As Crusaders experienced silk, spices, and porcelain, desires for these products created new markets.
Merchants ships brought Europeans valuable goods, traveling between the port cities of western
Europe and the East along the Silk Road. However, transporting goods along the Silk Road was costly,
slow, and unprofitable. Muslims collected taxes as the goods changed hands. As well as seeking a
water passage to the wealthy cities of the East, the sailors wanted to find a route to the Spice
Islands. The profit pushed explorers to seek new trade routes to the Spice Islands and helped to
eliminate Muslims. The competition between the Spanish and the Portuguese motivated both nations
to colonize quickly and aggressively.
Prince Henry the Navigator, lead Portugal s exploration of Africa and the Atlantic. Portuguese sailors
navigated an eastward route to West Africa, where they established a trading port. Portugal then
expanded its empire down the western coast of Africa to the Congo, along the western coast of India,
and eventually to Brazil and to the Atlantic islands. Although the Portuguese did not rule over a land
mass, their possession of the islands and coastal ports gave them control of the trade routes. As

Rosenberg Trial Research Paper
In The Rosenberg Trial, every witness we heard from, accused Julius as a spy, even his good friend,
Max Elitcher. Julius tried to get Max to pass information, but he was not the only one who said that
Julius tried to get in contact with. Elizabeth Bentley recieved many phone calls from a man named
Julius. Although, Julius said David Greenglass has used his name before. David Greenglass is the
brother in law of Julius. David Greenglass was apart of the Manhatten Project, and traded scetches of
the atomic bomb for five hundred dollars, therefore he proved he may not be as innocent as we think
he is. His wife, Ruth Greenglass, was also in contact with Julius. She said Julius had been in contact

the one that paid David Greenglass for the setches of the Manhatten Project. The FBI later found
everything, which sentenced him to thirty years in prison. Hary proved he may be guilty for
espionage, as well as every other person who was a witness. In this trial, I do not think anyone is
completely innocent. Everyone admitted something bad that they had done. Every witness I have
mentioned admitted they were apart of the communist party. They all were in contact with spies. This
leaves me questioning how would an average person have contact with a spy? The two that were
accused, spoke. Although Julius admitted to being a communist once, his wife, Ethel, said she never
was. Julius had been fired due to the fact that he used to be communist. To be clear, he had already left
the communist party. Later on, he addmitted he admires the USSR. He denied ever having ties on a
deal with David Greenglass, although there were witnesses. I believe Julius was not saying enough,
therefore making him seem like he was not innocent. If there would have been less people speaking
against Julius, I would believe that Julius may have been innocent, but for some reason, there were
five people speaking against him. They all had something to say about Julius trying to pass on
information. He obviously obtained information that he was not entitled to have, making it a

Use Of Conventional Fuels ( Coal And Oil ) For The...
The use of conventional fuels (coal and oil) for the production of energy has caused detrimental
effects on the planet with the emissions of greenhouse gases. Switching most of, but hopefully
entirely, the world s population to alternative renewable energy is the only way to save Earth from the
decline of the ozone layer. The ozone layer blocks UV radiation that causes many health problems for
people and animals, but the ozone layer also aids in the regulation of the planets normal homeostasis.
Without this perfect balance life could no longer sustain as it is known to be, or even possibly not at
all. These renewable sources are far cleaner than conventional sources, which will in turn help
everyone in the world. Along with the higher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conventional energy sources cause damage directly to the Earth itself just to gather the oil. This large
amount of time and effort is essentially a waste when the oil gathered is used so rapidly, the earth can t
even replace it at a rate to keep up with demand. This will lead to the loss of this seemingly simple
commodity (Breede, Security and energy capture: the military perspective). The availability of the sun
is just as you see it daily. Along with that, the conversion of solar rays to usable energy does not
release any damaging greenhouse gases, unlike the beloved petroleum oil used to widely today. Where
understandably anyway we gather energy will have some sort of impact on the planet, but the impact
of the gathering, transportation, and burning (converting to usable energy) has a by far larger impact in
just about every way, compared to any form of renewable energy (Union of Concerned Scientist,
Environmental Impacts of Renewable Energy Technologies). Still with this knowledge the switch to
renewable energy has been slow to progress. So to increase availability of renewable discovery of
several different forms have been introduced to consumers, including the well known solar, wind,
geothermal but also the less common such as biomass, hydroelectric and hydrokinetic. This range of
options is to make sure that fuels should be an absolute last resort. Some

Man s Search For Meaning By Victor Frankl
Author Victor E. Frankl wrote a book called Man s Search for Meaning. He had always fantasized
about being a doctor from a young age. He lived in Vienna, and studied medicine, psychology and
logotherapy which is the healing through meaning. In 1942 his family was arrested and taken to
Theresienstadt in Bohemia. His family had died in the camp except his sister; she was the only one to
survive besides him. He began to write a script while in the camps he was in (he moved to 3 different
camps during the holocaust). It was called, The Doctor and The Soul. He wrote it on pieces of paper
he found in the camps. In 1945 his camp was set free and he finished his manuscript. When he got out,
he became the director of the Vienna Neurological Policlinic. ... Show more content on

When he is explaining his experience he discusses how he tried to understand the minds of the people
suffering around him. In the book he describes his admittance into the camp, the everyday camp
schedule and his release from the camp. When he is talking about his involvement in the camp he
noticed many people experienced shock. As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the
gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope
fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose
optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked
enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. He thought that people had the ability to
governor and choose their piety and mental stability. Frankl said that people struggled with not
knowing when the torment and suffering would end. He thought that people who couldn t foresee
themselves getting out lost control of their mental stability. When freedom does eventually arrive for
those who had survived they had a hard time accepting it because they never thought it would happen.
He states that some prisoners weren t even happy about being released. Once they were released the
former prisoners had to relearn how to experience things that didn t revolve around suffering. Once
the holocaust is over and everyone has been released the book goes on to describe the techniques to
help people that are still mentally ill from the horrifying experience. He states that the only way to
help them find their meaning for life is Logotherapy. He thinks you can discover it in 3 ways which
are to perform a deed, experience something and display an attitude toward suffering. A

The Invention Of A Handheld Electric Mixer

use. The egg beaters were hand cranked, Hand cranks don t require electricity, there is a handle you
hold it with and a little knob that you twist so it could mix the ingredients together. In 1856, a
Maryland Tinner named Ralph Collier was the man who invented hand cranked egg beaters. The hand
cranked egg beaters were used by hand nothing electrical in them, but a more years went by people
started inventing so much more mixers and they were electrical of different kind. A handheld electric
mixer is basically an electrical mixer that has a handle and someone holds it while the mixer is mixing
the eggs and other things. Mixers are of course something used in the kitchen and only the kitchen.
People or chiefs use it for baking because it makes the dough in a better smoother texture than if it
was hand mixed. A classical American mixer brand is Dover stamping company, the company bought
the patent egg beaters in 1859. An American man named Rufus Eastman invented the first mixer

1908. His whole idea started from basically watching television, there was a baker who was making

were hand mixers that used electricity. The electric mixes he made were mostly for bakers with

The Act Of The Indian Tribes Of This Province
The Act to encourage the Gradual Civilization of the Indian Tribes of this Province, and to amend the
Laws respecting Indians was an Act with the goal of placing indigenous people at the same level as
British North American citizens. In essence, indigenous people would have the same or similar legal
rights such that all distinctions would be removed between them and British North Americans.
Furthermore, this Act was supposed to grant and help indigenous people gain rights with respect to
property ownership.
This Act had fifteen regulations that were applicable only to indigenous people who decided on
becoming enfranchised Indians and hence, British subjects. In becoming a British subject, these
individuals would lose their First Nations status. Therefore, while this Act may appear to help
Indigenous people, its ultimate goal was to create new subjects for the crown and hence, remove Frist
Nation s status.
Examples of the type of regulations established in this Act are as followed: 1) The act shall apply only
to individuals who are Indians, or have Indian blood, or are intermarried with Indians. Therefore, these
individuals must be part of an Indian Tribe which resides on some land that is their own and was never
surrendered to the Crown. Furthermore, it is only these particular individuals who are entitled to the
regulations of this Act and of other Acts. 2) A commissioner will be appointed such that they are in
charge of examining the Indians who want to

Taking a Look at Existentialism
Existentialism when looked in a dictionary means a philosophical theory or approach which
emphasizes the existence of the individual person as a free and responsible agent determining their
development through acts of the will. This theory emphasizes on the existence of man as an individual
and how every choices exerted by him determines a different course of action for him. Existentialism
when looked in a lexicon implies a philosophical hypothesis or methodology which accentuates the
presence of the distinctive individual as a free and capable executor deciding their particular
advancement through demonstrations of the will. This hypothesis accentuates on the presence of man
as a singular and how every decisions pushed by him decides an alternate approach for him.
Existentialism is a philosophical viewpoint that anxieties the imperativeness of unrestrained choice,
opportunity of decision, and moral obligation. This viewpoint underlines the exceptional encounters of
every person and the obligation of every individual for their decisions and what they make of
themselves. Since it picked up ubiquity at the end of the second world war , the expression
existentialism has basically been connected with a social development that developed out of the
wartime scholarly air of the Left Bank in Paris and spread through fiction and symbolization to the
extent that logic. The hypothetical and different compositions of Jean Paul Sartre, Simone de

Stereotyping In Sports
Highly hyped teams will often have shorter odds mainly due to the fact so many people are betting on
them, but if you are a veteran gambler, you will know that the odds a bookie gives and the hype
surrounding a team is not a key indicator of success. Here are five questions you should ask yourself
prior to placing mobile betting soccer bets on hyped teams (especially if you are planning to stake a
lot of money).
Spend Some Time Watching Their Older Matches
You can often pull up older soccer games on the Internet. It is worth having a watch to see how well
they fair. Is the hype justified based on their in game play? When you watch their matches, are you
seeing things that justify the hype the team are receiving? Remember that some teams ... Show more

They may have entered the pitch with their heads held high, but it only takes a few dangerous shots
from the opposing team to quash their moral and enthusiasm. The hyped team may have been
expecting an easier game than the one they are getting. If you see the opposing team continue to apply
pressure, you could do worse than place an in play bet on the opposing team.
Question 5 Is The Opposing Team Overdue A Dramatic Win?
If you watch a lot of team sports, be it basketball, hockey, rugby, football, or whatever, you will notice
that some teams seem to pull off dramatic comebacks when nobody expects them.
A team can start with pre season games and start their season with a terrible run, and then out of
nowhere they suddenly start winning relentlessly. Do not underestimate the potential of the opposing
team because of their track record. In addition, do not underestimate them because the hyped team is
drawing all the attention. As a long time soccer watcher, you should know that some teams can
suddenly become fantastic overnight. It even happens in games sometimes. There are times when a
team is a mess on the pitch, and then suddenly pulls it together for no

The Enlightenment And Its Influence On Scotland s Culture
Before the Scottish Enlightenment which began in the second half of the 18th century, religion was a
centerpiece of many western cultures. Members of Scotland s society viewed the world with a
religious specifically Christian lense (Dickenson 260). Essentially the highest authority in Scotland at
this time was the Presbyterian Church of Scotland ( Constitution of the.. ). Once the Enlightenment
began in Scotland this religious lense was challenged and the idea of viewing religion and the world as
a whole through a rational lense became popular. Great thinkers such as David Hume challenged the
church and the general public with arguments that put the validity of faith and religion as a whole into
question. In addition to there being critics of religion, there were also thinkers such as George
Campbell who actively defended Christianity. It is no doubt that this shift in thinking significantly
impacted Scotland s culture, but in in what ways was this shift to more rational important? Why was

for football though because we had to be at Braden River every morning at 7:30. The only good part
about waking up early was that when I was done I still had most of the day to go fishing or do
anything. Workouts really help out at the beginning of the season though because it makes us ready

Truth In Sentencing Policies and the Effects on Courts and...
Society has high expectations for criminal justice. Controlling the behavior of people is a difficult
task, and there are several differing opinions on how this should happen. Many believe this can best
accomplished by prevention through deterrence. Deterrence can be achieved from increased police
patrols, good relationships with the community, and through tough penalties for convicted criminals.
When deterrence fails, criminals need to be identified and held accountable for their actions. Law
enforcement enforces many different crimes; some of the most serious crimes are violent crimes.
According to the FBI s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, violent crime is defined by four offenses:

According to Brian J. Ostrom, Truth in sentencing is the most prominent sentencing reform movement
of the 1990s (2001). Truth in sentencing was designed to closely align the sentence imposed by the
judge with the actual amount of time served in prison by restricting or eliminating parole eligibility
and good time. This violent offender incarceration and truth in sentencing initiative was amended in
1996 to promote reform by providing States grants to expand their prison capacity if they included
truth in sentencing requirements to violent offenders (Rosich, 2005). This grant program was
instrumental in many states adopting the truth in sentencing guidelines into their policies. To be
eligible for grants, each state had to demonstrate they applied truth in sentencing laws, within three
years truth in sentencing laws would be implemented. By 1999, 41 states and the District of Columbia
passed laws or implemented some form of truth in sentencing; however each state varied in their
applications.

An Analysis Of Walt Disney s The Lucky Rabbit Shorts
While many were shocked at the blatant racism displayed in The Song of the South, it is not the first
piece of Disney animation to feature controversial material. Walt Disney s Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
shorts had quite a bit of adult humor in it. In one short, Oswald gets chased by a bear into a cave
where a fight takes place. Oswald comes out wearing a fur coat and the bear comes out wearing
nothing but a bra and panties (Griffin, 2000). A closer look at Disney films may also indicate that
Disney may have subtly used their films to speak out about political and religious issues. In certain

The Disney Company is an empire, branching off into many different aspects of our society. One of
those aspects is vacation destinations, or more specifically, Disney s theme park. Eight out of eleven
of Disney s parks are among the most visited vacation destinations in the world. When developing his

The Golden Age Of A Civil War Across China Essay
Daoism appeared as a reaction to a civil war across China, known as the warring states period, which
caused a wide feeling of civil unrest. The war went on for nearly two hundred and fifty years and
spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was divided into eight separate states. Daoist believed that war
was a result of excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and the state experience
peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be natural, and we must return to nature
to establish our balance. We must return to nature and to a time like the Golden Age, that came before
the Zhou Empire and the warring states. The Golden Age refers to a more simple time in life, in which
people had relied on agriculture in small villages with a trusted government that also followed the
way, causing a balance and unity. To manifest this simplicity and selflessness naturally is the Dao,
which is the way of all things. Though in today s world we have strayed far from nature, for reason
and excessive desires have corrupted people and their values. Daoist would believe that our society is
unbalanced ,and we must return to the path of the Dao to restore our unity. We must behave naturally
and act modestly in order to find the way, but like the opposing states in the Zhou Dynasty, we have
excessive desires causing unnatural behaviors. These unnatural behaviors keep many people from
finding the way, but the Daodejing supplies many passages of the effects of

Neutral View On Abortion
I have a neutral view point on abortions and I believe that abortions are highly personal and very
private decision for anyone to make. I believe it is never easy for any woman to make a choice about

have the control and choice to do what they want and feel is best for them and their body at that
particular moment. No one should be able to tell a woman what she can t do with her body because it
violates her right to choice. Another reason why I believe that abortions are highly personal and

Essay on Attempts at Internet Censorship
Ever since the Internet became such a large source of information in our lives, there has been a group
of people who believed it need be cleansed of certain material. These people believe that groups,
corporations, and the government have the right to block whatever material they deem objectionable.
They are quite simply wrong. The First Amendment guarantees our right to freedom of expression.
Furthermore, the ability to block or ban these sites does not exist. There have been several attempts to
enforce some sort of standard of morals on the Internet. The online community has always fiercely
opposed these intrusions on its Civil Liberties and privacy. One of the most famous cases was short
lived the Communications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CDA was restrained by a lower court until the supreme court could have a hearing on the matter.
The Supreme Court heard argument from both the senators who originally proposed the bill and from
people concerned with the broadness of the act. The supreme court eventually determined that the
CDA was indeed unconstitutional, violating not only the first amendment, but also the fifth due to the
vague wording used. In the opinion statement Justice Stevens said:
The vagueness of the CDA is a matter of special concern for two reasons. First, the CDA is a content
based regulation of speech. The vagueness of such a regulation raises special First Amendment
concerns because of its obvious chilling effect on free speech. Second, the CDA is a criminal statute.
In addition to the opprobrium and stigma of a criminal conviction, the CDA threatens violators with
penalties including up to two years in prison for each act of violation. The severity of criminal
sanctions may well cause speakers to remain silent rather than communicate even arguably unlawful
words, ideas, and images.ii
The Supreme Court has always based their decisions on free speech on one base concept, the idea that
certain speech can be punished, but cannot be banned ahead of time. The concept behind the CDA is
clearly that, to ban indecent speech before it can even become available. The CDA was originally
created in response to an

Cyp27a1 Essay
Answer: Cytochrome P450 27A1 (CYP27A1) is an important cytochrome P450 enzyme which is
solely responsible for converting cholesterol to 27 hydroxoycholesterol. 27 hydroxycholesterol is an
oxysterol which can modulate estrogen and liver X receptors in a tissue specific manner. Moreover,
when 27 hydroxoycholesterol level is increased, estrogen and liver X receptors mediate adverse
effects of 27 hydroxoycholesterol in breast cancer. Therefore, regulation of CYP27A1 could be
potential target against breast cancer. The authors studied the regulation of CYP27A1 by 26 drugs
from different therapeutic segment. During their study they showed some strengths as well as some
limitation. 2 pros and 2 cons of this study are elaborated below.
Pros
1. Study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drug binding assays: Spectrum of CYP27A1 changes due to the change between P450 heme iron and
a molecule in the sixth heme ligand. A water molecule is placed in that sixth heme ligand for a resting
state and substrate free P450 enzyme. Displacement of this water molecule or occupying by another
function group makes a spectrum difference for P450 enzyme. The authors used spectral analysis for
all 26 drugs to find out the CYP27A1 response to those drugs. In addition to screening enzyme assay,
spectral analysis of 26 drugs strengthens the paper.
Cons
1. Assessment of the CYP27A1 expression: The authors stated that CYP27A1 is the only enzyme
which converts cholesterol to 27 hydroxycholesterol in human. So they have measured the
concentrations of 27 hydroxycholesterol and cholesterol in mice. They interpreted CYP27A1
inhibition from those concentrations. However, they did not mention that CYP27A1 is the only
enzyme which converts cholesterol to 27 hydroxycholesterol in mice too. Therefore, we are not sure
that the only concentration of 27 hydroxycholesterol will make the authors conclusion valid.
The authors could use CYP27A1 knocked out mice to find the effect of the drugs on cholesterol
conversion without the CYP27A1 enzyme activity. In addition to that, they also could measure the
CYP27A1 mRNA expression for the drug treatments, to find the effect on CYP27A1 enzyme

Life and Work of Sam Shepard
Student Name Professor Name Class/Section 11 December 2012 Sam Shepard A Review Summary
Sam Shepard has undoubtedly established himself as one of the greatest living American playwrights
of this time, if not for the duration of American history. His upbringing and experiences, both before
and since his stardom erupted, have shaped his work and how he is perceived and there is a litany of
examples of this that can be easily culled and analyzed. This report has several sections. The first
section looks at what has shaped Mr. Shepard and what he has become as it pertains to theater and the
American lexicon. Second, Mr. Shepard s work known as Buried Child will be compared to another
one of Mr. Shepard s works. Third, a look at the script of Buried Child will be under taken. Fourth, the
production of Buried Child will be assessed. The report will conclude with a character analysis of a
character from Buried Child and this will include some visual research of the same character assessed
on the rest of this section. Life of Sam Shepard In looking at what Mr. Shepard experienced growing
up, it is not hard to ascertain why he has such a unique and atypical perspective of life and America in
general. A son in a military family, he (like most military brats ) moved around a lot. However, the
common moves from place to place were fused with an alcoholic father that no doubt intimidated him
and made him anxious as a child. The juxtaposition of his dad s career as a military

Essay On Decision Making
Caused by a controlled release of water, a boat rescue of one family in the neighborhood close to the
Barker reservoir found a distraught mother who made this statement: They have to do what they had
to do. Accordingly, managers use six steps to decision making to affect organizational performance.
Fundamentally, these six steps are especially critical as these decisions will affect human lives. In
Texas, August 2017, hurricane Harvey became a life threatening, catastrophic event as it dropped
more than 30 inches of rain, as well as, forceful winds on the city of Houston and surrounding coastal
towns, within three days. So, this rare event presented a challenge for the Army Corps of Engineers as
the flooding caused structural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
C. Do nothing and hope the dams do not break. However, this alternative will have devastating effects
on millions of Texans who are not already living within flood ravaged areas.
4. Among all the alternatives, I chose option B; a controlled release of water from the Barker and
Addicks dams to prevent flooding in the city of Houston and surrounding areas.
5. Implementing this plan requires that all people evacuate the areas affected by the release of water
from the levees, then, direct the controlled release towards those areas that are already flooded.
6. Establish a procedure for feedback from within and outside of the organization, including;
management, employees, local and federal officials, and residents. This procedure will include the
following important steps:
Compare what actually happened to what was expected to happen as a result of the decision.
Explore why any expectations for the decision were not met.
Derive guidelines that will help in future decision making. (George Jones, 2017, p. 174)
In the end, this decision making process is one that places loss of life at the forefront of the most
important factors to consider. Ultimately, rather than risk a devastating dam break in the middle of
hurricane Harvey, the best alternative is to make a controlled release of water. Thus, after generating
possible alternatives, as well as, assessing each one for legal, ethical, economical, and practical
feasibility, I came

Major Characteristics Of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa
I. Description of P. aeruginosa
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is characterized by aerobic, gram negative, motile, non spore forming bacilli
(rods).1 A trait that differentiates P. aeruginosa from other gram negative bacteria is the fact that it
produces indophenol oxidase, which is an enzyme that renders them positive in an oxidase test.1 The
type of flagella this organism is known to possess is called a polar flagella, meaning a single flagellum
at one pole of the rod.1 This means the motility of the organism is quite limited and can travel only in
one direction. In spite of this, the single flagellum, as well as the presence of pili, are major
contributions to the motility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.1 The Pseudomonas genus, the genus from
which P. aeruginosa originates from, is known to be an environmental bacteria; hence why this
organism is very common in soil, water, and even fresh fruits and vegetables.1 A common
characteristic of environmental bacteria, P. aeruginosa being of no exception, is the ways in which
they grow. P. aeruginosa grows and thrives in biofilms which are groups of adhering bacteria in
aqueous environments. These biofilms eventually begin to produce a slimy substance resembling glue
which allows them to spread and stick to other materials/locations. Not only does P. aeruginosa require
minimal nutritional requirements, but the entire Pseudomonas genus type does as well.1 Due to P.
aeruginosa (usually) only needing acetate as carbon and ammonia as nitrogen,

How To Reduce Drinking And Driving Essay
The drinking and driving epidemic has been an on going issue that puts millions of people in constant
risk daily. This issue is only getting worse. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration s Mark
Rosekind recently quotes We re seeing these increases that we have not seen in 50 years. It s tragic.
This proves that statement true. With that being said, something needs to be done about this growing
problem. The department of public safety should require alcohol detecting device for all vehicles with
the support of the driver s insurance company because the laws and remedy s in place now are very
ineffective to the public health.
Laws and remedy s suggested for drinking and driving are not in the best interest of the people but

The Use Of Calvinism By Robert Frost
Robert Frost incorporated Calvinism into his poetic work to emphasize his belief in this Protestant
theological system. Frost lived in a Calvinist society throughout his life, influencing him to believe in
such a system. The death of Frost s family members, drove him to live such a dark life, and turning to
find gratification through Calvinism. Frost made sure to demonstrate the struggle of the characters in
his poetry as if they were trying to escape something that was not possible, such as Calvinism. Once a
human joins this religion, the rest of their life is determined for them and they are subjected to either
hell or rarely heaven. Robert Frost made use of Calvinism throughout his poetry to emphasize the
mindset of such individuals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are parts of his religion that he must stay true and values that mean something due to his strong
faith. Calvinism is shown strongly throughout this poem, for one example, in that one has a life to live
however, God is ultimately all powerful and in full control of every part of life.
The next example comes from the poem Acquainted With The Night, Frost starts off this poem by
stating I have been one acquainted with night (Frost 1). Looking further into this poem, one can
interpret that the speaker was once drawn to evil, and has gone through struggles in life, however, he
has outwalked this struggle in life. God has put him through this clearly for a reason and proves that
he truly does have all power. Going through tough times, Frost kept his faith strong, despite believing
he was damned. I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet/ When far away an interrupted cry/
Came over houses from another street, (Frost 7 9) Frost is hearing the sounds of a watchman or inner
voice talking to him. The voice was not there to tell him what to do just to remind him that He is
always there watching over him. When the speaker looks up, he sees the luminary clock, (Frost 12) or
the moon, he states once again I have been acquainted with the night, (Frost 14) stating once again the
he believes he has been damned. Frost knows that he technically doesn t have control in any of his
choice, and not even the

Second Trimester Medical Implication Of Abortion
One main reason that women decide to end a pregnancy is due to malformation of the fetus. Most
women think that the future child is going to be in pain so they decide to get abortion. But is
malformation a fair reason to not end a life? Or women don t want to face any challenges or struggle
they might face with their child in the future? According to Inga Maj Anderson, Kyllike Christensson,
Kristina Gemzell Danielsson authors of the article Experiences, Feelings and Thoughts of Women
Undergoing Second Trimester Medical Termination of Pregnancy imply that through a questionnaire
they gathered information on womens feelings and thoughts when they got an abortion. Despite of the
results of the questionnaire women do not regret their decision to terminate the pregnancy...their

In this article it informs that forcing women to view the ultrasound image and fetal heartbeat has
become mandatory in some states in the USA as a strategy to prevent women from undergoing the
abortion (Inga Maj Anderson 2). I agree with this strategy because women that are looking for an
abortion can see that the fetus is not just a clot of blood it a person with a heart beat that deserves to
live no matter the condition they have. Women that proceed the termination of their pregnancy due to
malformation of the fetus usually their decisions are based on the results of an ultrasound or chorionic
villus sampling. Does the evidence prove conclusively that malformation will happen? I understand
that women are scared or aren t ready to face an unwanted pregnancy, but I still feel that it s wrong to
decide if someones lives or dies. It s like taking someones life

This is a quote which states that religion controls the human mind because God can see everything at all times, all seeing, and unlike the police or the government nothing can be hidden from God. The government gives punishments as time in prison or fines which can only last the humans lifetime. • 6. The Main Cause Of The American Civil War The one main cause of the American Civil war must be resolved, and while there are many ideas, history reveals that there was only one. There are many arguable motives to the start of the Civil War, but there are four main concepts. These four concepts were slavery, taxation, the election of Abraham Lincoln and lastly, struggling with power between the Northern and Southern states. To start with, the end of slavery is undoubtedly one of the most popular arguments to the creation of the Civil War. While many consider slavery as the cause of the Civil War, they are mistaken (Historynet). To support this statement, the facts simply are that slavery has been in our country ever since its formation. If slavery was the single cause of the Civil War, that war would have begun long before it truly started in 1861. While the people saw slavery as a great evil, they did not in fact go to war because of it (Historynet). Also great disputes with slavery, that were big enough to start a war, did not appear until it had ended. The ending of slavery infuriated the Southern states. The North wanted to tax the South because they were becoming more profitable on cotton (Historynet). Slavery was not the issue, as slaves fought IN the civil war for both the North and the South. Southern states saw the ending of slavery as the North seizing dominant power and overriding the union (Historynet). Southern states thought the North had no right to do this, and by doing so, Northern states were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Elizabeth Bennet Research Paper Elizabeth Bennet, a woman of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, was doomed to be forever tied to the expectations society had for women of the time. She was to be wed to a befitting suitor, and behave as a woman should. That being said, it becomes quite clear to the reader (along with the other characters) that Elizabeth couldn t care less of the expectations society had for her at least, far less than most women of her time did. Elizabeth, while tied to the society she was born into, did not let the whims of the populace dictate every move she made in her life, most specifically of how and when to be wed. The standards for men and women of the time between 1796 1813 dictated nearly every aspect of an individual s life. It told each person how to behave and how they will advance in society. The most important thing to a woman of this time was her own reputation. Her class and familial wealth were the main contributors to how others perceived her. It was best for a woman to marry well (wealthy, good breeding, good family background, etc.) to maintain a good and sturdy reputation. However, a woman couldn t just worry about herself and how others perceived her. There was also the worry of the family reputation, which, as it was, would also affect a woman s reputation. • 9. Great Britain And The European Union The recent decision of Great Britain to leave the European Union coincides with the recent election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States. Both events can be explained by using economic and cultural arguments. In order to fully understand these occurrences, one must understand the economic anxiety as well as the anti globalisation sentiment that surrounded the Brexit movement. Trump s candidacy involves some of the same aspects, yet Trump s voter demographic, the white, working class, must also be studied. In the end, it can be determined that there is arguably more of a cultural reasoning to these incidences. The instances of Great Britain s exit from the EU and the election of Donald Trump were both so originally downplayed that when both possibilities came to light, the world was in shock and awe. June 23, 2016 was the first shock as Great Britain held a referendum in order to decide the question of whether or not the country should remain within the European Union. Brexit was the winning vote. Political elites had been defeated and the complaints of the voters were heard. These complaints stemmed from economic anxiety within the country and the demise of the support of globalisation. The Economist article, Drawbridges Up , describes the way in which voters wished to take control of borders once again in order to slow the flow of immigrants and refugees. The Trump candidacy shares some of the same fundamental aspects of Brexit yet Trumps true rise to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Technological Advantages And Disadvantages Of The Spanish Technological Advantages The Spanish forces that arrived in Mexico with Cortes numbered five hundred and eight and were staggeringly outnumbered by the Mexica Empire. However, these Spanish forces held a number of technological advantages that helped counter this numerical disadvantage. Three technological advantages that were particularly important to the Spanish success were steel, gunpowder and horses. These three thigs gave the Spanish an advantage in both offensive and defensive capabilities. They also served as a major psychological blow to the Mexica forces. The first technological advantage held by the Spanish was the use of steel weapons which proved far more capable than the indigenous weaponry. The Spanish were equipped with steel swords, lances and other weapons. These weapons provided the Spanish with a tool that was both faster than the indigenous weapons and more capable of cutting through cloth armors. This gave the Spanish the ability to quickly and easily kill the indigenous warriors. On the other hand, the primary weaponry used by the indigenous peoples were arrows, two handed swords with stone edges, lances and thrown stones. These weapons were both slower than the Spanish weapons and were much less effective at cutting into the Spaniards despite the fact that the Spanish wore similar armor to the indigenous warriors. This advantage was both known and fully utilized by Cortes, who attempted to further increase the defenses of his men by ordering his men to pay particular attention to wearing effective armor on the head, neck and legs which had proven to be weak points in the Spanish armor. This advantage in defenses was fully illustrated in the earlier battles with the warriors from Tlaxcala wherein the Spanish forces faced over three thousand warriors. In this conflict, according to Bernal Diaz, the Spanish faced a hail of arrows, stones and javelins before fighting at close range with the far more numerous Tlaxcalan warriors. The result of this battle was the death of a single Spaniard and the injuring of sixty, many of which were still able to continue fighting relatively unimpeded. • 13. The Revenge Tragedy Of Hamlet Essay Issara Butt Professor Abbott English 102 November 30, 2016 The Revenge Tragedy of Hamlet Revenge tragedies share some common characteristics of the play Hamlet which classify them in the group of many great stories such as The Spanish Tragedy, and King Lear. A vengeful ghost, a play within a play, and the main character who seeks revenge on an opponent and murdered (KAY). At some point in life many of us feel the need to seek revenge and never actually act upon it, but what if we did? What would be the consequences and what would life be like afterwards. The thoughts we have of this makes the stories of revenge tragedies exciting and intriguing. They are our thoughts written on paper and into a story making as if what we think is actually happening. In the time of Shakespearean writing, things would have gone slightly different. The play Hamlet, is a prime example of a revenge tragedy in its refined state of written speech. Hamlet is a revenge tragedy for many reasons, not only that but it is the most written, re enacted, and read play of all time (TUMIEL). The multiple plots of revenge, murders, and ghost appearances makes Hamlet the leading play of revenge tragedies and most studied currently in academic curriculums. It is believed to be that William Shakespeare s Hamlet was based off of Thomas Kyd s story, Ur Hamlet (MABILLARD). The Relationship Between Modernity and the First World War The First World War, also known as the Great War of 1914 1918, is not an event that manifested overnight; it was the result of ever growing tension among European nations. This conflict was brought about by factors such as, nationalism, militarism, and the Alliance system. An upheaval such as the First World War was witness to the emergence of the glorification of war, struggle, despair, destruction and immense loss of life. The First World War brought about a defining moment in the history of the modern consciousness. The modern world was born anew with a self conscious awareness of plight and modern society. The effect the war had on both the political and economic sector was so significant that the First World War marks the commencement of the modern era. Socialist thought emerged due to revolutions in Russia, and imperialism lost its appeal. A desire to avoid further conflict also arose at the culmination of the First World War, and individuals hoped that this war would be the war to end all wars, which encouraged many nations to resolve disputes with one another. The societal structure of every European nation that participated in the war changed irreversibly. The war not only facilitated change, it played a powerful role in molding its quality and strength. This view of the war suggests its pivotal role in directing the destinies of the contemporary world it is in this sense that the war was possibly a turning point. The class system in Britain was changed and lower class consciousness grew. New nations were formed in Eastern Europe, and a new identity was to be formed in Germany, an identity without imperialistic values and goals. Though, not only did European nations change, so to did warfare. The advancements of the industrial age were applied to weapons and eventually to tactics as well, changing the face of warfare perpetually. Indeed, Tarabotti focused on three significant main points: the hypocrisy of putting daughters in convents, the problems with male patriarchy as a whole, and her own interpretation of the Bible. She presented these points with the help of several rhetorical strategies throughout the novel, such as, her ability to turn around popular claims about women and apply them to men, her strong use of references to the Bible and popular literary works, her use of parables throughout the work to clearly give examples of her arguments, and many more. By exploring each of her arguments, we can see how she used these various rhetorical strategies to her advantage. Indeed, one of her most interesting arguments throughout the novel was her own interpretation of the Bible and the various people in the Bible. The reader is introduced to this argument early on in the first book. For example, Tarabotti believes that Adam, not Eve, is mainly responsible for the fall from grace. She argues that, if he [Adam] alone had the grace of free will and was superior to Eve, she would not have sinned at all, despite the serpent s promptings and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This has increased the challenges that confront organizations. New competition from unexpected places is a huge challenge. So are the cultural issues that come with a diverse, opinionated, and often far flung workforce. The need for fast acting, effective, sustained organizational change will continue to increase. In fact, it will increase even more rapidly than it is now. The flattening of the world through globalization has sent market forces in new directions. Organizations must react to this increasingly chaotic market swiftly and effectively. The McKinsey 7 S Model and Lewin s three step model are two of the most influential models of organizational change in the business world. The McKinsey 7 S model emphasizes the role of structural factors in organizational change, while Lewin s three step model is rooted in behavioral factors. Thesis: The McKinsey 7 S model is grounded in questionable research methods and an excessive focus on structural factors. Lewin s three step model is more incisive and relevant because it is rooted in principles of human behavior. Cubism by Pablo Picasso and George Braques During the beginning of the 20th century the world was developing at an unprecedented, intense speed, artists were looking for a new Avant garde way to create works. Hence, cubism came to life a truly revolutionary style of modern art developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braques (Lance 2010 :2). Many critics challenged this new style due to its unconventional use of semiotics and lack of social sense. However, this is exactly what Cubists wanted to be, unconventional challenging the traditions of Western art which they believed had become tired and run its course. As the world was developing and new inventions were being created such as the car, aeroplane , cinematography and the telephone. People like Picasso and Braque found it increasingly difficult to attempt to create works on the basis of these ideas. They believed that the modernity of these things and the society at the time was unable to be represented by the exhausted constraints of the conventional forms of representation which had been around since as early on as the Renaissance. Moving away from the traditional Western rules of what was suitable when creating art dadists and surrealists start to undermine artistic convention ( Freeman 1989 : 1) and in turn the cubists do to . As Freeman states in her article, they were attracted to that which appealed to people not aesthetically but rather on an intellectual level, hence why critics believed that they had become devoid of any social sense because ... As a part of this he noticed most people believed that the gassing would be stopped or delayed right before their execution. There was always a tiny hope fluctuation around in the camps that they would live to see freedom. Once people started to lose optimism that they would survive, suicides were common and majority of the prisoners lacked enthusiasm and energy which created emotional emptiness. For the most part, these parks are a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world. A place where adults and children alike can live in the magic for a little while, to be the main character in their favorite stories. To some, however, the parks are just a symbol of Disney s mass greed. In the book Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World , the author tells us how ironic it is that people visit these parks as a way to escape the very world that Disney has created. One of the greatest ironies upon visiting Disney World is the wave of relief that overwhelms you upon entering the place relief to be free of the nerve shattering traffic and the endless ugly sprawl. These happy places are not protected from tragedy, however. • 40. The Golden Age Of A Civil War Across China Essay Daoism appeared as a reaction to a civil war across China, known as the warring states period, which caused a wide feeling of civil unrest. The war went on for nearly two hundred and fifty years and spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was divided into eight separate states. Daoist believed that war was a result of excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and the state experience peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be natural, and we must return to nature to establish our balance. We must return to nature and to a time like the Golden Age, that came before the Zhou Empire and the warring states. The Golden Age refers to a more simple time in life, in which people had relied on agriculture in small villages with a trusted government that also followed the way, causing a balance and unity. To manifest this simplicity and selflessness naturally is the Dao, which is the way of all things. Though in today s world we have strayed far from nature, for reason and excessive desires have corrupted people and their values. Daoist would believe that our society is unbalanced ,and we must return to the path of the Dao to restore our unity. We must behave naturally and act modestly in order to find the way, but like the opposing states in the Zhou Dynasty, we have excessive desires causing unnatural behaviors. These unnatural behaviors keep many people from finding the way, but the Daodejing supplies many passages of the effects of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Neutral View On Abortion I have a neutral view point on abortions and I believe that abortions are highly personal and very private decision for anyone to make. I believe it is never easy for any woman to make a choice about having an abortion. Abortion is a private and personal choice because it is a woman body. Women have the control and choice to do what they want and feel is best for them and their body at that particular moment. No one should be able to tell a woman what she can t do with her body because it violates her right to choice. Another reason why I believe that abortions are highly personal and private is because many women who become pregnant are simply unable to care for a child or may not want to care for a new child and they do not want to raise ... The Supreme Court heard argument from both the senators who originally proposed the bill and from people concerned with the broadness of the act. The supreme court eventually determined that the CDA was indeed unconstitutional, violating not only the first amendment, but also the fifth due to the vague wording used. In the opinion statement Justice Stevens said: The vagueness of the CDA is a matter of special concern for two reasons. First, the CDA is a content based regulation of speech. The vagueness of such a regulation raises special First Amendment concerns because of its obvious chilling effect on free speech. Second, the CDA is a criminal statute. In addition to the opprobrium and stigma of a criminal conviction, the CDA threatens violators with penalties including up to two years in prison for each act of violation. The severity of criminal sanctions may well cause speakers to remain silent rather than communicate even arguably unlawful words, ideas, and images.ii The Supreme Court has always based their decisions on free speech on one base concept, the idea that certain speech can be punished, but cannot be banned ahead of time. • 44. Cyp27a1 Essay Answer: Cytochrome P450 27A1 (CYP27A1) is an important cytochrome P450 enzyme which is solely responsible for converting cholesterol to 27 hydroxoycholesterol. 27 hydroxycholesterol is an oxysterol which can modulate estrogen and liver X receptors in a tissue specific manner. Moreover, when 27 hydroxoycholesterol level is increased, estrogen and liver X receptors mediate adverse effects of 27 hydroxoycholesterol in breast cancer. Therefore, regulation of CYP27A1 could be potential target against breast cancer. The authors studied the regulation of CYP27A1 by 26 drugs from different therapeutic segment. During their study they showed some strengths as well as some limitation. 2 pros and 2 cons of this study are elaborated below. Pros 1. Study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drug binding assays: Spectrum of CYP27A1 changes due to the change between P450 heme iron and a molecule in the sixth heme ligand. A water molecule is placed in that sixth heme ligand for a resting state and substrate free P450 enzyme. Displacement of this water molecule or occupying by another function group makes a spectrum difference for P450 enzyme. The authors used spectral analysis for all 26 drugs to find out the CYP27A1 response to those drugs. In addition to screening enzyme assay, spectral analysis of 26 drugs strengthens the paper. Cons 1. Assessment of the CYP27A1 expression: The authors stated that CYP27A1 is the only enzyme which converts cholesterol to 27 hydroxycholesterol in human. So they have measured the concentrations of 27 hydroxycholesterol and cholesterol in mice. They interpreted CYP27A1 inhibition from those concentrations. However, they did not mention that CYP27A1 is the only enzyme which converts cholesterol to 27 hydroxycholesterol in mice too. Therefore, we are not sure that the only concentration of 27 hydroxycholesterol will make the authors conclusion valid. The authors could use CYP27A1 knocked out mice to find the effect of the drugs on cholesterol conversion without the CYP27A1 enzyme activity. In addition to that, they also could measure the CYP27A1 mRNA expression for the drug treatments, to find the effect on CYP27A1 enzyme ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Among all the alternatives, I chose option B; a controlled release of water from the Barker and Addicks dams to prevent flooding in the city of Houston and surrounding areas. 5. Implementing this plan requires that all people evacuate the areas affected by the release of water from the levees, then, direct the controlled release towards those areas that are already flooded. 6. Establish a procedure for feedback from within and outside of the organization, including; management, employees, local and federal officials, and residents. This procedure will include the following important steps: Compare what actually happened to what was expected to happen as a result of the decision. Explore why any expectations for the decision were not met. Derive guidelines that will help in future decision making. (George Jones, 2017, p. 174) In the end, this decision making process is one that places loss of life at the forefront of the most important factors to consider. Ultimately, rather than risk a devastating dam break in the middle of hurricane Harvey, the best alternative is to make a controlled release of water. • 47. Major Characteristics Of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa I. Description of P. aeruginosa Pseudomonas aeruginosa is characterized by aerobic, gram negative, motile, non spore forming bacilli (rods).1 A trait that differentiates P. aeruginosa from other gram negative bacteria is the fact that it produces indophenol oxidase, which is an enzyme that renders them positive in an oxidase test.1 The type of flagella this organism is known to possess is called a polar flagella, meaning a single flagellum at one pole of the rod.1 This means the motility of the organism is quite limited and can travel only in one direction. In spite of this, the single flagellum, as well as the presence of pili, are major contributions to the motility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.1 The Pseudomonas genus, the genus from which P. aeruginosa originates from, is known to be an environmental bacteria; hence why this organism is very common in soil, water, and even fresh fruits and vegetables.1 A common characteristic of environmental bacteria, P. aeruginosa being of no exception, is the ways in which they grow. P. aeruginosa grows and thrives in biofilms which are groups of adhering bacteria in aqueous environments. These biofilms eventually begin to produce a slimy substance resembling glue which allows them to spread and stick to other materials/locations. Not only does P. aeruginosa require minimal nutritional requirements, but the entire Pseudomonas genus type does as well.1 Due to P. aeruginosa (usually) only needing acetate as carbon and ammonia as nitrogen, ...
