Motivation for the American Dream in Of Mice and Men, by...
Motivation is the will to do something. Life has many different levels of motivation; achieving
something, attempting to achieve something, and not trying it achieve something. Motivation can be
applied to the American Dream. In the book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the levels of
motivation are clearly evident, this affects the process of how the characters achieve their dreams. Of
Mice and Men is a story of two migrant workers, how they deal with their American Dream, and the
troubles of working on a ranch during The Great Depression. The Characters of Of Mice and Men are

The Presidential Race Rages On By Donald Trump
As the presidential race rages on, Donald Trump has lashed out against a fellow republican candidate
who was seemingly slated early on as a potential vice president running mate. Instead, Trump has
turned the table on Cruz by running a 30 second commercial ad portraying candidate Ted Cruz
campaign of wrongful practices in his candidacy sweetheart funding, amnesty for illegal immigrants,
and falsely accused the Cruz campaign of starting rumors of Ben Carson suspending his bid for the
White House. With the political race coming to end, candidates will do everything it takes to gain
every vote possible, even if it means destroying another candidate s appearance. Donald Trump has
done so with his accusations against presidential candidate, Senator Ted Cruz. Trumps commercial,
What Kind of Man, explains how Ted Cruz has not been truthful in his actions during his campaign
and how Cruz can t be trusTed. Donald Trump states that Cruz had taken more than a million dollars
from Wall Street banks in what people call sweetheart loans and never disclosed them. A sweetheart
loan is a loan with term the normal person seeking a loan would not get. He was able to achieve this
because his wife, Heidi Cruz, was the managing director there at that time. In Cruz s 2012 Senate
campaign, Ted Cruz unsuccessfully disclosed his loan given to him by the company that his wife
works for, Goldman Sachs (Mcintire). That same year Cruz also forgot to disclose loan given to him

How Did Thomas Jefferson Shaped America
Thomas Jefferson, one of the best presidents America has ever had. Some people believe he was evil
for keeping slaves. But, even though he did that, he did more good than bad. He purchased the
Louisiana territory, greatly expanding America. Even before he was president he helped America, he
was the main author of the Declaration of Independence. Also after being president he helped by
founding the University of Virginia.
Thomas Jefferson was a main factor in the birth of America. If it had not been for him we would not
have had the same Declaration of Independence. Not to mention his persuasive voice while telling
people his thoughts and ideas. Even more important than that, if it were not for him there might be no
America. And this was all before people elected him as president. ... Show more content on

But, none were more important that the choice to buy the Louisiana Territory. It expanded America
and started our journey west. If he had not bought the territory, America might have never gone further
than the east coast. To think, he is the reason America is not only 13 little states.
And last but not least, after he was president. He did not stop trying to help America just because his
presidential term was over. He went on to found the University of Virginia. It may not sound
important now, but back then there were not many colleges. His founding the school gave many more
people and option to go to college and get an education. It may have been the most important post
presidency action in history.
Thomas Jefferson was one of the best president. He helped America as much as he possibly could.
And he did not let even time stop him. That is why, he is a great

The Security, Legal, Ethical, Social And Responsibility...
Legality of Port Scanning Kevin Zheng Abstract In this paper I will discuss the security, legal, ethical,
social and responsibility issues of port scanning. The tool being covered in this exam being used for
port scanning is called nmap. Several options will be dicussed on how to use the tool. Then there will
be some discussion on the legal cases that was centered around port scanning. At the end is a
discussion on my opinions of port scanning over all. Introduction Port scanning has many issue
surrounding it. Port scanning is one of the most fundamental techniques that a hacker can use to being
an attack. Many systems can reveal vast amounts of infrmaiton from being scanned. (Jamieson, 2001,
p. 2). Ports are essentially connection pathways that services use to communicate on the internet. Ports
are similar to telephone numbers in a commercial building. A building may have one number, however
to reach specific people inside, your call may be rerouted to a person s extension in order to get
connected to that person. A port scanning is essentially calling a building or business and then trying
to reach all possible extensions and see who answers. If the person does not pick up, you may hear in
their voicemail who they are. In port scanning, an attacker may be scanning the entire range of ports,
or extensions, from port 0 to port 65535. There are generally a few standard ports that are tied to

Interview Report On The Segment Reporting
Executive Summary
This report will provide an overview as to what Segment Reporting is and how is it reported in the
annual reports. This report will also touch basis on issues involved in allowing the management to
measure the different operating segments. A brief discussion on how entity wide disclosures need to
be made for major customers under AASB 8. To get a better understanding on segment reporting, we
have compared the annual reports of Telstra Group and BHP Billiton, to view the different approaches
or similarities in reporting segment information.
In the end we have demonstrated the benefits of segment reporting to the users of General Purpose
Financial Statements (GPFS).
Introduction: Segment Reporting
In the present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The different requirements for an operating segment to be reportable under Paragraph 13 of AASB 8
are,
1) Quantitative Thresholds Tests:
A) Revenue test, wherein the reported revenue including sales to any external customers as well as
inter segment sales and transfers if 10% or higher of the total operating revenue will be reportable
revenue.
B) Profit or Loss test, wherein the reported profit or loss will be totaled in their respective absolute
amount, if 10% or more of such absolute amount of profit or loss in each activity will be reportable.
C) Asset test, wherein the assets in the operating segments that is 10% or more of the total of all
combine assets under the operating segments will be reportable (Deegan, 2012).
2) If the total external revenue of all reportable segments is below 75% of the total of all reportable
revenue of the different reportable segments more segments need to be reported until such revenue is
75% or more unless such condition has already been satisfied (Deegan, 2012).
These tests will define the different reportable operating segments that need to be reported by the
organization in their financial report. The standards under AASB 8, even provides an approach, where
segments that were not reportable and did not qualify the above tests to be reportable separately. This
approach is referred to as the management approach, even any such information analyzed by the chief
operating officer

Get Out Jordan Peele
Simultaneously a creepy horror thriller and a witty laugh, Get Out, is the debut feature from actor
turned director Jordan Peele, who also wrote and produced.
Peele was influenced by the 1975 cult classic The Stepford Wives and challenges us with a tale where
a black man gets trapped in a house with a deranged white family. How s this sound?
Peele s script focuses on an apparently harmless relationship between Chris Washington (Daniel
Kaluuya), a young African American photographer and his caring white girlfriend, Rose Armitage
(Allison Williams). They decide to go on a weekend trip to her family s distant estate so he can meet
her parents, Dean (Bradley Whitford) and Missy (Catherine Keener). This invitation makes him
uneasy and hesitating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While the former are portrayed as victims, the latter are shaped as artful supremacists and tenacious
manipulators. However, the filmmaker manages to alleviate this idea by infusing wit and irony,
aspects that remove part of the heaviness related to the topic itself, at the same time that enhance the
entertaining values of his work.
Recently, racism has been widely addressed in earnest documentaries (13th, I m Not Your Negro) and
fact based dramas (Hidden Figures, Fences, and A United Kingdom). In contrast to these, Get Out is
entirely fictional and combines genres with aplomb.
Cleverly written, beautifully enacted, and gripping from the first scene to the last, Get Out has all the
ingredients to be remembered in the future as a gem within the comedy horror genre. It s even more
outstanding if we think we re before a directorial debut.
The low budget didn t hamper Peele from assuring strong production values, which include a suitable
and disquieting musical score by Michael Abels, sympathetic photography by Toby Oliver, and solid
special effects by a team composed of Matthew Brady Harris, Tom Wiseman, and Brian

Lack Of Communication In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
When both involved do not effectively communicate with each other, a distant marriage may lead to
discontent for all. Sinclair Ross s short story, The Painted Door , deals with the growing dissatisfaction
and loneliness of a farmer s wife, Ann, who feels alone as her husband deals with the harsh conditions
of the environment. This story demonstrates how deeply communication can affect a marriage, be it
bad or good. One of the most fundamental elements of a healthy relationship is communication. Lack
of communication in a relationship can result to severe consequences. Irrespective of the kind of
relationship, lack of communication magnifies issues in a relationship undermining the very
foundation of the relationship. The success of any relationship relies on one s ability to communicate
well. Communication is important in relationships as it allows us to share our interest, concerns,
support each other. John is a simple farmer who thinks the only way he can please his wife, is by
working all day to earn money for her. However, Ann would prefer he spend more time with her. Their
relationship is stressed even further when Ann is left at home alone with nothing to think about but
their relationship because John has to go to his father s house. The terrible snow storm accentuates
Ann s feelings of loneliness and despair. These feelings lead Ann to seek comfort and companionship
from Steven, the attractive friend of her husband, John, thus leading to John s suicide.

Human Rights And Women s Rights
Introduction:
If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women s
rights and women s rights are human rights once and for all. On September 5, 1995, 180 countries
came together in Beijing China to hear first lady Hillary Clinton s speech about women s rights. This
speech was the United Nations Fourth World Conference of Women. The target audience for this
speech is governments and other organizations that can help meet the goal of making women s rights
human rights. She addressed problems that every single country faced concerning the liberties of
women, and why it was important that they receive these freedoms. The speech was courageous and
considered path breaking too many in its demand for action. The great challenge of this conference is
to give voice to women everywhere whose experiences go unnoticed, whose words go unheard.
Hillary Clinton has become famous for the statement: Women s rights are human rights. She is known
as one of the greatest women of our time, combining intelligence, compassion and bravery.
Summary:
For Aristotle, the ethos of a speaker is persuasive when the speech demonstrates practical wisdom,
moral virtue, and goodwill toward the audience. (Aristotle s Rhetoric) Clinton makes it clear that she
understands and is an important person covering the topic. Over the past 25 years, I have worked
persistently on issues relating to women, children, and families. Over the past two and a

Amur Leopard Animal Extinction
Habitat destruction, deforestation, ozone depletion, global warming, and poaching. These actions and
ecological happenings are creating a world where animals are going extinct at rapid rates. Our world is
on the brink of what scientists believe is the sixth mass extinction. Unlike the five previous mass
extinction, the latest one killing a majority of the dinosaurs, the main causes for this current extinction
are anthropogenic reasons, not natural events.
Scientists calculate that without humans about one to five species would die a year, which is
considered the background rate of extinction. But in our current society human activities are
destroying many of the chances these animals need to survive. We as a planet are killing species at ...

If the genetic diversity between different individuals in the species the rate for genetic diseases and
problems increases and that can threaten the integrity of the species. This is common within species
with small number of wild populations. With the Species Survival Plan, the zoos would each be given
a breeding pair with larger numbers of genetic differences and then are bred to produce high genetic
variability. The new young will then be matched with an animal of the opposite to continue the
process and increase the population of genetically different species (Species Survival Plan® (SSP)
Programs).
One specific examples of a species that has had some success with the Species Survival Plan is the
Amur Leopard. The Amur leopard is critically endangered with only an estimated 30 to 40 adults left
in the wild. The Species Survival Plan thus far has been able to boost the population with an estimated
50 adults to be in the wild by the end of 2015. This would be a 75 percent increase from the estimate
numbers in 2012. Before the Species Survival Plan, inbreeding was a danger to the integrity of the
Amur Leopard, but with the increase of the wild population and the population in zoos around the
world, the species looks to continue its rebound (Amur Leopards).
The Amur Leopard: The Amur Leopard is one of the most critically endangered big cats in the world.

Descriptive Essay About Early Birthday
Early Birthday Present It was a beautiful morning on July 5th, 2015. Outside the birds were chirping
and the sun was beaming through my window. I had just woken up as both of my parents came into

a little while on my phone, I decided to get up. I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and went downstairs
to see what this was all about. Right when I turned the corner into the kitchen, I saw a poster board

The Misrepresentation Of Arabs Culture In Hollywood
The misrepresentation of minorities is frequent in Hollywood films and Arabs are one of the many
minority groups Hollywood misrepresent. Arabs are portrayed negatively in films for long time even
before 9/11. The Arabs characters are portrayed with always having accent, wearing traditional attire,
untrustworthy, aggressive and almost always associated with terrorism. The continuously falsification
could lead to stereotypes, misjudgment, and damage to Arabic culture. There are handful of movies
released featuring Arabs characters in a negative way although the one that caught my attention is
Rules of Engagement. The film Rules of Engagement, was produced by Scott Rudin and Richard D.
Zanuck, which was released in March 31st 2000. The film star leading characters are Samuel L.
Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones. The film illustrates how misrepresentation of Arabs culture and
tradition is being normalized. The film is about a U.S. Marines whose base was in Yemen and had
conflict with the civilians. The Arabs in the film were portrayed as violent people who were killing the
Marines at the U.S. Embassy, where the civilians were protesting. The film set unacceptable image of
Arabs. In American society where technology is advanced image is a big deal because society
perceive image as important. Hollywood as the biggest entertainer in the world set unacceptable image
of Arabs and the images has a power to change people s perspective of how to view/interpret the

Panama Canal Expansion
Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in.
A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years, making it
possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in the Los
Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf of Mexico,
as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and shipped across
the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs not only on the
coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth.
But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on

The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide, 965
feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide, 1,200
feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the ships
going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere in
the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options
between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said.
In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make
the necessary improvements.
As for highways and rail lines, there are scant resources for new projects. But existing dollars,
including funding from state and federal motor fuels taxes, could be steered toward projects that
benefit freight movement.

give input in the state s planning for roads, rail and other parts of the grid. The working group includes

Framing Fundamentals
Framing Fundamentals: Shots and Basic Rules of Thumb
Video shots are all about composition. Instead of pointing the camera at your subjects, what you need
to do is to compose an image. Framing is that very process of making forming composition.
Framing techniques are very subjective. What one client finds to be moving may look pointless to
someone else. What you need to look at are industry guidelines which you can refer to as your rules of
thumb.
The rules of video image framing are technically the same for those used in photography.
Fundamental Shots
There is a video industry convention which gives names to the common kinds of shots. The meanings
of each could vary but their purposes are relative. Basic shots are called according to what s applicable
to subjects. For instance, close up shot has to be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, the subject s head is almost at the top border of the frame while his feet are almost at the bottom.
Called the safety room, this is that small amount of space atop the head and beneath the feet. In this
shot, the subject still does not take the whole frame width.
The midshot shows a bit more details about the subject. This is more like an estimate of how you
would like to see a person in the flesh. Of course, you would not pay attention to the lower portion of
the body, just his face till about his stomach.
The medium close up is a shot that features the face more clearly.
Extreme close up shots are those that show extreme details of a subject. The ECU should effectively
convey emotion. The cutaway shot is that shot that gives you an idea of what is happening outside of
the present action. This is often a different subject or, at times, a CU of a part of the subject.
Basic Framing Rules
Find vertical and horizontal lines on the frame such as poles or horizon. Ascertain that these are at
level unless you are trying to achieve the tilted

Misinterpreting Of The Book The Bible Is Everything
1. If you carefully consider the surrounding context of a passage, but ignore its literary genre, it could
result in significant consequences, such as, committing damage to the original meaning of the text. It
is important to take the text into consideration because it gives relevance to the meaning. Duvall and
Hays explains in their book how the Bible is everything . Therefore, without understanding the
context, there is no meaning because each story/literature in the Bible has its own specific rules that
we all need to understand. Without understanding the exact meanings, we risk misinterpreting the
word and spreading false scripture.

Vedic And The Vedic Period
The Vedic period lasted from c. 1750 to 500 BCE. The Vedic texts were arranged when the Indo
Aryans started to inhabit the Ganges plain. With this new settlement, it transitioned to an agricultural
society, and in the need for organization the society created a hierarchical government. The society
had to include older habitants of the Ganges plain, and incorporated them under the Aryan varnas.
They also had to appoint political and religious authority to the Brahmins and Kshatriyas. The Vedas,
also called Śruti, center on the worship of the elements like fire and rivers, worship of heroic gods like
Indra, Varuna and Agni, chanting of hymns and performance of sacrifices. God Indra became the
central deity of the developing Old Indic culture. The philosophy of Vedanta transformed the Vedic
worldview to monistic one. This led to the development of tantric metaphysics and gave rise to new
forms of yoga, such as jnana yoga and bhankti yoga. People prayed for abundance of children, rain,
cattle (wealth), long life and an afterlife in the heavenly world of the ancestors. This mode of worship
has been preserved since then in Hinduism. However, the primacy of Vedic deities has been seconded
to the deities of Puranic literature. According to Muesse, some of the fundamental concepts like
karma, reincarnation and personal enlightenment and transformation did not exist in the Vedic
religion. Brahman is a very specific conception of the Absolute in Vedas. Brahman is neither

that caused the downfall of BlackBerry. The first reason was lack of vision and strategy whereas the
other cause was managerial decision making. The company s business was affected a lot due to
introduction of IPhone in the market and business started to decline at a rapid pace. The innovative

Av Node Analysis
The heart has distinguished components that allow the pathway of electrical conduction to travel
through the heart in order to effectively pump blood through the body. The electrical impulse initiates
in the Sinoatrial node (SA node), which is located in the posterior wall of the right atrium, near the
superior vena cava. It is also known as being the physiologic pacemaker of the heart and has an
intrinsic firing rate of 60 100 impulses/min. From the SA node, the electrical impulse flows directly to
the Atrioventricular node (AV node) with the guidance of intercalated discs and gap junctions. The AV
node is located in the back section of the interatrial septum near the coronary sinus and tricuspid
valve. Here, there is a delay of .1 seconds to allow the atria to contract and the ventricles to fill. In
addition, this delay regulates the ventricles if there were an abnormal atrial rhythm. The AV node
works as a secondary pacemaker if the SA is irregular, firing at 40 60 pulses/min. After leaving the AV
node, the electrical impulse travels to the bundle of His. The bundle of His forms the only myocardial
connection between the atria and ventricles. Additionally, the bundle of His divides the bundle
branches into left and right and innervates the ventricles through Purkinje fibers. ... Show more

Myocardial cells sustain their electrical gradient among their membrane, with the inside being slightly
more negative. The resting potential is regulated by channels and pumps distributed inside and outside
of the cell. As the cell depolarizes, the gate of the calcium channel opens, allowing calcium to enter
the cell. The calcium flowing into the cell simultaneously results in initiating the action potential. With
depolarization, the potassium channels then open, while the calcium channels close. Repolarization
occurs when potassium leaves the cells, and then the whole cycle begins

It is the past which shapes what we become in the present. Most of what we do and follow today has
been decided in the past which is why we have to understand who we were to become who we have to
be. India is one of the few civilizations which has been in existence for more than 5000 years. India is
a homogenous culture and it has such strong roots that we have been able to absorb any outside

chert and bloodstone instead of quartzite. His stone implements were extremely small and known as
microliths.
Neolithic Man / New Stone Age Neolithic man (Social) made granite rocks his abode. He ate fruits,

Essay The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery...
The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery O Connor
In her 1952 novel Wise Blood, Flannery O Connor presents Hazel Motes s Essex automobile as a
symbol for Hazel himself. The car s dilapidated state corresponds to Motes s own spiritual decay;
however, the initial quality of the car s workmanship corresponds to Hazel s Christian upbringing,
which he cannot deny in spite of himself. Motes s identification with and reliance upon his car as a
means of escape becomes ironic as the Essex continually fails to deliver him from his demons; Hazel s
dependence on his car (despite his contentions that he is not concerned with material possessions)
actually holds him back.
O Connor writes of Motes s Christian childhood in chapter one ... Show more content on

Complicating Hazel s confused conceptions of entrapment, sin, and Christianity is the episode
involving the Melsy carnival, at which Hazel and his father pay to see a woman lying in a coffin.
Hazel s father has a lustful reaction to the woman; he says Had one of themther built into ever casket .
. . be a heap ready to go sooner (32). Haze s shut mouthed mother, who O Connor describes as having
a cross shaped face, senses Haze s guilt when he returns home (32 33). Telling him that Jesus died to
redeem you, she whips him with a stick, leaving him with a nameless unplaced guilt (33). The actions
of his parents leave Motes unable to distinguish what is good and Christian from what is forbidden
and evil. He associates his grandfather with Christianity but also entrapment; he associates entrapment
with the carnival episode, in which his father treated the woman as desirable but after which Hazel
was made to feel guilty.
Hazel Motes s Christian upbringing continues to be significant in later chapters of Wise Blood.
Several characters notice an inherent goodness in Hazel that shows through despite his determination
to deny it. The FROSTY BOTTLE waitress, who says, I know a clean boy when I see on e, warnsthe

Examples Of Inductive Approach
In general, there were two approaches that could be applied to teach grammar: deductive and
inductive. This dichotomy was built upon rule based and example based teaching. The deductive
approach, also known as a top down approach, was a rule based teaching style that involved
explaining the grammar item to learners before they encountered how rules functioned in language
and then applying it; therefore, the deductive approach was one of the explicit teaching styles (Cowan,
2008). This approach was derived from the notion of deductive reasoning where the concept went
from the general to the specific. It can also be called rule driven learning. In such an approach, the
most favorable method was Grammar Translation Method where the grammar ... Show more content

This question relates to a long standing debate among language teachers in the context of EFL/ESL,
since the two had their own significances for Particular learner progress. On one side, deductive
approach can be effective with students of a lower level, who are beginning to learn the basic
structures of the language, or with students who are accustomed to a more traditional style of learning
(Goner, Philips, and Walters,1995,p.134). Also, Deductive approach goes straightforwardly to the
point and can, therefore, be time saving for the teacher and the class. Robinson (1996) proved that
learners performed grammatical tasks better and reacted faster in deductive rather than inductive
teaching. Erlam (2003) confirmed that deductive teaching was easier for learners to acquire direct
object pronouns in French as a second language, and it was highly likely that the same holds true for

Essay about Racism in Family Guy Supports Stereotypes
In today s society, a minstrel show would unquestionably be pointed out as a racist act. However, if
stereotypes were used in comedic TV shows it becomes more uncertain as to whether or not it is
appropriate. With the popular use of satire in the current pop culture, the line between racism and
harmless satire is harder to define. Shows like Family Guy play on a lot of racial stereotypes but do
not always receive attention on those jokes. The show is often written off as just a raunchy animated
show, so people expect the outrageous humor and take the jokes less seriously. Racist jokes has been
muddled with satire by putting it in a comical context and in a different medium such as animation.

Ahsan Haque of IGN criticized that the episode was not an instant classic but still praised it for its
moments of creative genius (Haque). The episode received multiple reviews similar to this one. This
demonstrates how the offensive humor is often brushed aside. There were no comments made about
the portrayal of the Native Americans because of the fact that Family Guy is presented as a comedic
animated show; its irreverence is what attracts audiences. The episode was not making a comment on
a social issue. The satirization of Native Americans served no other purpose than for being the punch
line of every joke. This sort of humor is not as upfront as something like blackface so it is not
recognized immediately that it is offensive. Due to the fact that it is a comedic animated show it is not
taken as seriously. For a show with millions of viewers making these sort of jokes makes it seem like
it is acceptable to make fun of other races. In doing so these stereotypes are going to persist in society.
The racist jokes that are often made in Family Guy obviously does not bother its viewers. Family Guy
has garnered such a huge fan base that when the character Brian was killed off it caused a huge uproar
on social media. An article written by Danielle Cox asked if the fans attachment to a cartoon character
any different from other TV show characters? (Cox). This deals with a death of a character not

Analysis Of Miracles By C. S. Lewis
With Strong Evidences: Miracle Can Be Asserted
There have been claims of occurrences of events that are beyond human comprehension in humans
history. Many regard these out of this world experiences as miracle. Although the accounts of these
events varies with places and people, the reports make people consider the possibility of miracle
happening to them even at the absence of factual evidences to support many of these events. C.S.
Lewis, author of Miracles supports this idea that miracles can be taken seriously without firm
evidence to support them, due to the fact that miracle can t be witnessed naturally, we can t prove that
there are no proofs of miracles occurring, and that advancement in science isn t focusing on proving
the existence of an entity outside of nature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unless there exists, in addition to Nature, something else which we may call the supernatural, there
can be no miracles (5), therefore we can assume that miracle can t occur without the consideration of
something else existing outside nature. According to Lewis, super naturalists claim that an entity with
God s attributes exists outside nature (42), and also reveals that God created nature (7). Since God
created nature and He exist outside of natural, proof of miracle cannot be found within nature, and
Lewis describes the occurrence of miracle as they come on great occasions: they are found at the great
ganglions not of political or social history, but of that spiritual history which cannot be fully known by
men (273). Miracle are rare events, and it takes the highly spiritual to witness

Characteristic Characters In A Tale Of Two Cities By...
Writers have always set out to create realistic characters. Some have succeeded in creating characters
with unique goals and personalities while others fail to truly optimize the potential of their characters
and instead have relied on some discernible caricatures. For example, from A Tale of Two Cities by
Charles Dickens, written in 1858 to Crash, released in 2005, characters have been praised for their
originality and criticized for being stereotypical and bland. However while some characters may
appear to be caricatures, both Dickens and Haggis were constrained by time and societies explanation,
forcing them to rely on some caricatures to make the story more accessible. Both Dickens and Robert

In there, Dr. Manette s enmity for the the Evremondes continues to grow where he denounces the
Evremonde brothers and the rest the Evremonde bloodline until they die out. As the revolution
continues to grow, Dr. Manette s is finally given an opportunity to end the Evremonde bloodline. The
blood thirsty mob of the rebellion storms La Force, where Charles Evremonde is currently held. The
mob detests anyone that had any remote connection to the French Aristocracy and would gladly
murder him. Had Dr. Manette not used his influence as a Bastille survivor, Charles would ve been
gored on the street. Despite his hatred for the Evremonde family, Dr. Manette forgoes his past to save
the husband of one very dear to him. Finally, Dr. Manette is able move on from the years of hatred in
the Bastille, and he personally vouches for the Evremonde at his trial. Ultimately, Dr. Manette ceases
to hold the Evremonde bloodline responsible for the heinous actions committed, and had instead
works tirelessly to save his son in law. Through Dr. Manette, Dickens portrays a character that not
only complete contradicts his initial caricature of a vengeful prisoner, but also grows into someone
willing to forgive someone who had wronged him.

his female characters, such as Lucie Manette. When we are first introduced to Lucie, she

was her Mama getting sick with Valley Fever. At this time, (this happens rarely) when people weren t

could occur. On page 157, the doctor said to Esperanza, There might be some medicines she can take,

Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning...
Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training 1.1.
Inclusive learning is about recognising that all your students have the right to be treated equally and
fairly, have the same access to all products, services and have the opportunity to be involved and
included. As a teacher you need to be aware that all students are not the same as they all do not learn
in the same way, the ways in which a teacher can overcome this is using the Teaching and Learning
Cycle, using visual, auditory and kinaesthetic materials (VAK) and agreeing on individual learning
plans (ILPs). Other features could include self reflective exercises, quizzes and providing
opportunities for students to reflect on their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the students have completed the lesson, they can use all of the skills out of the classroom and
into their everyday life. 2.1. Creating an inclusive learning environment benefits all students to enable
effective learning to take place. The environment in which you are teaching the subject can sometimes
be restricted but teaching can take place anywhere not necessarily just in a classroom, for example,
colleges, learning centres, the workplace, prisons are to name just a few. When teaching you would
need to consider the venue, rooms and resources but also your attitude and support as this can also
have an impact on the students in which they will learn. 2.2. It is important to select a number of
teaching and learning approaches as individuals can face a number of barriers causing them difficulty
to learn. Maslows (1987) Hierarchy of Needs shows that if all five aspects of this theory are met,
which are, self actualisation, self esteem recognition, safety/security and physiological it creates a
healthy environment for learners to progress and achieve their goal. 2.3. Motivation is what causes us
to act, it is either intrinsic (from within) which means to learn for your own fulfilment or extrinsic
(from without) which means they may be an external factor motivating the learner. To help motivate
learners you can set targets, be professional, create interesting and relevant tasks or activities, engage
students and give them the opportunity to

Analysis Of Othello And Iago
Self Awareness Self awareness is the conscious knowledge of one s own character, feelings, motives,
and desires (Merriam Webster). Self awareness is key when it comes to understanding ones self in
relationship to ones actions and reality. Perspective, which is a personal point of view that comes from
the self, is what shapes the reality that one interacts with. So it is the self, and one s relationship with
the self that truly determines and ones actions and view of the world. Don Quixote is an excellent
example of how one s perspective and self awareness are important. In this story a man sets out on his
own adventure to right the wrongs of the world. However, in spite of noble intentions, this hero ends
up causing much more harm then needed because he is not self aware and has a different perspective
than everyone else. In the play Othello many characters have the same issue with perspective and self
awareness. Othello and Iago are the two main characters that allow their views on themselves to take
control over their actions without their awareness. There is a tragic ending to this play and it was all
because of differing perspectives and lack of self awareness. The Bhagavad Gita discusses the
importance of the Self and how one must find ways to shape and understand the self for the better.
Through these three pieces one can see and how perspective changes everything and the importance of
the self with awareness to it. Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes was

In the clinical literature it is very common the distinction between dissociative states and dissociative
traits (e.g. Bremmer, 2010; Bremmer Brett, 1997), whereas state dissociation is described as a
transient symptom and trait dissociation is described as an innate personality characteristic. The
prevalence of dissociative symptoms in both clinical and non clinical populations leads to the notion
that dissociation is a continuum (Bernstein Putnam, 1986) which extends from non pathological
manifestations of daydreaming to severe distortions of personality typical of dissociative disorders
(Giesbrecht Merckelbach, 2008; Holtgraves Stockdale, 1997; Irwin, 2001). The realm of dissociative

the rationale behind this choice of country is due to the fact that customers in Germany are very

Humorously enough, it was Sandy who deceived Miss Brodie: you had no reason at all to double cross
me, in fact you have had the best piece of me in my confidences and in the man I cherish. (P125) Miss
Brodie was entirely blind to the fact that Sandy s betrayal was justified, her decision was regrettable
but inevitable. The subjects of devotion, steadfastness and disloyalty in The Prime of Miss Jean
Brodie are all nearly joined. Miss Brodie is jumped at the chance to a God figure: She supposes she is
Providence, she supposes she is the God of Calvin; she sees the starting and the end. (P120) Her
dedication is largely focused on her set, who can be seen as her disciples, and Sandy who would
therefore be Judi s. The distinction being that Sandy s treachery is supported: It s just conceivable to
double cross where unwaveringness is expected, said Sandy. That being said, would it say it wasn t
because of Miss Brodie? Just up to a point, said Sandy. (P127) the three themes of dedication, loyalty
and betrayal are all closely knit and so they complement each other in the way they are woven into the
story. As Miss Brodie s young ladies were consistently shaped, Miss Brodie s inclination was
additionally developing and the principals administering the end of her prime began with her
commitment, peaked with a break of dedication and completed with a

The Keynesian School Of Economic Thought
1) List three key concepts from the Keynesian School of economic thought: (25 points) At least one
concept must describe the management of aggregate demand. a. The primary concept of the Keynesian
School of economic thought revolved around the management of aggregate demand. The author of
this idea, John Maynard Keynes, believed the economy was fundamentally unable to sustain itself at
full employment. One of his proposed solutions to this was for the government to intervene to increase
aggregate demand. He argued that by investing government funds, the amplitude of the business cycle
could be reduced and would stabilize continued economic growth. Another method of managing
aggregate demand involved taxation. By lowering the taxes on certain goods and raising others, the
government could influence public demand for certain products to fluctuate based on its benefit to the
economy as a whole. b. Another concept of Keynesian thought is that of excessive savings. Mr.
Keynes believed that if savings occurred in excess of the planned investment it would increase the
possibility of a recession or depression. He believed that excessive savings were caused by
discouraging business prospects, over investment in previous years, and a decrease in consumer
demand. The law of supply and demand states simply that as savings increased interest rates would
drop, until there was no longer reason to save; this plunging interest rate would bring the economy in
balance once again. Mr. Keynes

Mountain Men from the North American Rock Mountains
Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810 through
the 1880s (with a peak population in the early 1840s). Approximately 3,000 mountain men ranged the
mountains between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver harvesting period. While there were many free
trappers, most mountain men were employed by major fur companies. The life of a company man was
almost militarized. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped inbrigades and always reported to
the head of the trapping party. This man was called a boosway , a bastardization of the French term
bourgeoisie. He was the leader of the brigade and the head trader.
Donald Mackenzie, representing the North West Company, held a Rendezvous in the Boise
RiverValley in 1819.[2] The rendezvous system was later implemented by William Henry Ashley of
theRocky Mountain Fur Company, whose company representatives would haul supplies to specific
mountain locations in the spring, engage in trading with trappers, and bring pelts back to communities
on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in the fall. Ashley sold his business to the outfit of Jackson and
Sublette. He continued to earn revenue by selling that firm their supplies. This system of rendezvous
with trappers continued when other firms, particularly the American Fur Company owned by John
Jacob Astor, entered the field.
The annual rendezvous was often held at Horse Creek on the Green River, now called the Upper
Green River Rendezvous Site, near present day

Beta Management
BETA MANAGEMENT COMPANY
Q1. Calculate the variability (standard deviation) of the stock returns of California REIT and Brown
Group during the past 2 years. How variable are they compared with Vanguard Index 500 Trust?
Which stock appears to be riskiest? The stock returns for each month are given in Table 1. Based on
the monthly returns, the standard deviation or variability of each stock has been calculated. The
standard deviation for California REIT is 9.23% and the standard deviation for Brown Group is
8.17%. This standard deviation is the monthly standard deviation for each of the stocks. On the other
hand the standard deviation of Vanguard Index 500 Trust is 4.61%. This shows that the standard
deviation of both the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Q 4. How might the expected return for each stock relate to its riskiness? The expected return for each
of the stocks has been calculated by the Capital Asset Pricing Model. The risk free rate is one of the
variables used in the CAPM formula. The risk free rate has been assumed here at 7% based on
historical statistics as no information has been given regarding it. The second variable is the return on
market. This return has been estimated from the average monthly return by transforming it into
effective expected annual rate of return. Finally, the third variable used in the CAPM formula is beta
which has been calculated in the third question. This beta incorporates the systematic risk in the
formula to calculate the expected return for a particular stock. The expected return for Brown Group is
14.87% and for California RIET it is 8.00%. This shows that the expected return for Brown Group is
much higher than the expected return of California RIET. The reason for this is that Brown Group
stock is much riskier than that of California RIET; therefore, to compensate the high risk, higher
return must be paid. When the potential investors will come to invest in the Brown Group stock they
will demand extra premium to compensate them for the extra risk they are taking by investing in this
stock. This is because of the basic principle of risk and return, which says that higher the risk higher
should be the return. Now it will depend on the risk

Randle Patrick McMurphy is a criminal who was sentenced to prison for a short period of time. He
then decides to have himself declared insane so he can be transferred into a mental institution. There,
he expects to serve the rest of his term free from prison labor and in comfort and luxury. In the mental

institutionalized submission. McMurphy becomes captured in many power games with Ratched for
the minds and hearts of the patients. However, constantly, the question is how with it are any of the
players in the ward. During McMurphy s stay at the institute, he forms friendships with two fellow
patients: Billy Bibbit and Chief Bromden. Billy Bibbit is a suicidal man child who stutters. Ratched
has humiliated him so many times that he became a quivering mess. Chief Bromden is a huge,

  • 3. The Presidential Race Rages On By Donald Trump As the presidential race rages on, Donald Trump has lashed out against a fellow republican candidate who was seemingly slated early on as a potential vice president running mate. Instead, Trump has turned the table on Cruz by running a 30 second commercial ad portraying candidate Ted Cruz campaign of wrongful practices in his candidacy sweetheart funding, amnesty for illegal immigrants, and falsely accused the Cruz campaign of starting rumors of Ben Carson suspending his bid for the White House. With the political race coming to end, candidates will do everything it takes to gain every vote possible, even if it means destroying another candidate s appearance. Donald Trump has done so with his accusations against presidential candidate, Senator Ted Cruz. Trumps commercial, What Kind of Man, explains how Ted Cruz has not been truthful in his actions during his campaign and how Cruz can t be trusTed. Donald Trump states that Cruz had taken more than a million dollars from Wall Street banks in what people call sweetheart loans and never disclosed them. A sweetheart loan is a loan with term the normal person seeking a loan would not get. He was able to achieve this because his wife, Heidi Cruz, was the managing director there at that time. In Cruz s 2012 Senate campaign, Ted Cruz unsuccessfully disclosed his loan given to him by the company that his wife works for, Goldman Sachs (Mcintire). Legality of Port Scanning Kevin Zheng Abstract In this paper I will discuss the security, legal, ethical, social and responsibility issues of port scanning. Then there will be some discussion on the legal cases that was centered around port scanning. At the end is a discussion on my opinions of port scanning over all. Introduction Port scanning has many issue surrounding it. Port scanning is one of the most fundamental techniques that a hacker can use to being an attack. Many systems can reveal vast amounts of infrmaiton from being scanned. (Jamieson, 2001, p. 2). Ports are essentially connection pathways that services use to communicate on the internet. Ports are similar to telephone numbers in a commercial building. A building may have one number, however to reach specific people inside, your call may be rerouted to a person s extension in order to get connected to that person. A port scanning is essentially calling a building or business and then trying to reach all possible extensions and see who answers. If the person does not pick up, you may hear in their voicemail who they are. In port scanning, an attacker may be scanning the entire range of ports, or extensions, from port 0 to port 65535. Peele was influenced by the 1975 cult classic The Stepford Wives and challenges us with a tale where a black man gets trapped in a house with a deranged white family. How s this sound? Peele s script focuses on an apparently harmless relationship between Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya), a young African American photographer and his caring white girlfriend, Rose Armitage (Allison Williams). Sinclair Ross s short story, The Painted Door , deals with the growing dissatisfaction and loneliness of a farmer s wife, Ann, who feels alone as her husband deals with the harsh conditions of the environment. This story demonstrates how deeply communication can affect a marriage, be it bad or good. One of the most fundamental elements of a healthy relationship is communication. Lack of communication in a relationship can result to severe consequences. Irrespective of the kind of relationship, lack of communication magnifies issues in a relationship undermining the very foundation of the relationship. The success of any relationship relies on one s ability to communicate well. Communication is important in relationships as it allows us to share our interest, concerns, support each other. John is a simple farmer who thinks the only way he can please his wife, is by working all day to earn money for her. However, Ann would prefer he spend more time with her. Their relationship is stressed even further when Ann is left at home alone with nothing to think about but their relationship because John has to go to his father s house. Human Rights And Women s Rights Introduction: If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, let it be that human rights are women s rights and women s rights are human rights once and for all. On September 5, 1995, 180 countries came together in Beijing China to hear first lady Hillary Clinton s speech about women s rights. This speech was the United Nations Fourth World Conference of Women. The target audience for this speech is governments and other organizations that can help meet the goal of making women s rights human rights. She addressed problems that every single country faced concerning the liberties of women, and why it was important that they receive these freedoms. The speech was courageous and considered path breaking too many in its demand for action. The great challenge of this conference is to give voice to women everywhere whose experiences go unnoticed, whose words go unheard. Hillary Clinton has become famous for the statement: Women s rights are human rights. She is known as one of the greatest women of our time, combining intelligence, compassion and bravery. The continuously falsification could lead to stereotypes, misjudgment, and damage to Arabic culture. The film Rules of Engagement, was produced by Scott Rudin and Richard D. Zanuck, which was released in March 31st 2000. The film star leading characters are Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones. The film illustrates how misrepresentation of Arabs culture and tradition is being normalized. The film is about a U.S. Marines whose base was in Yemen and had conflict with the civilians. The Arabs in the film were portrayed as violent people who were killing the Marines at the U.S. Embassy, where the civilians were protesting. The film set unacceptable image of Arabs. With this new settlement, it transitioned to an agricultural society, and in the need for organization the society created a hierarchical government. The society had to include older habitants of the Ganges plain, and incorporated them under the Aryan varnas. They also had to appoint political and religious authority to the Brahmins and Kshatriyas. The Vedas, also called Śruti, center on the worship of the elements like fire and rivers, worship of heroic gods like Indra, Varuna and Agni, chanting of hymns and performance of sacrifices. The electrical impulse initiates in the Sinoatrial node (SA node), which is located in the posterior wall of the right atrium, near the superior vena cava. It is also known as being the physiologic pacemaker of the heart and has an intrinsic firing rate of 60 100 impulses/min. From the SA node, the electrical impulse flows directly to the Atrioventricular node (AV node) with the guidance of intercalated discs and gap junctions. The AV node is located in the back section of the interatrial septum near the coronary sinus and tricuspid valve. Here, there is a delay of .1 seconds to allow the atria to contract and the ventricles to fill. In addition, this delay regulates the ventricles if there were an abnormal atrial rhythm. The AV node works as a secondary pacemaker if the SA is irregular, firing at 40 60 pulses/min. After leaving the AV node, the electrical impulse travels to the bundle of His. The bundle of His forms the only myocardial connection between the atria and ventricles. Additionally, the bundle of His divides the bundle branches into left and right and innervates the ventricles through Purkinje fibers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Essex and Hazel Motes in Wise Blood by Flannery O Connor In her 1952 novel Wise Blood, Flannery O Connor presents Hazel Motes s Essex automobile as a symbol for Hazel himself. The car s dilapidated state corresponds to Motes s own spiritual decay; however, the initial quality of the car s workmanship corresponds to Hazel s Christian upbringing, which he cannot deny in spite of himself. Motes s identification with and reliance upon his car as a means of escape becomes ironic as the Essex continually fails to deliver him from his demons; Hazel s dependence on his car (despite his contentions that he is not concerned with material possessions) actually holds him back. Haze s shut mouthed mother, who O Connor describes as having a cross shaped face, senses Haze s guilt when he returns home (32 33). This dichotomy was built upon rule based and example based teaching. The deductive approach, also known as a top down approach, was a rule based teaching style that involved explaining the grammar item to learners before they encountered how rules functioned in language and then applying it; therefore, the deductive approach was one of the explicit teaching styles (Cowan, 2008). The show is often written off as just a raunchy animated show, so people expect the outrageous humor and take the jokes less seriously. • 32. Analysis Of Othello And Iago Self Awareness Self awareness is the conscious knowledge of one s own character, feelings, motives, and desires (Merriam Webster). Self awareness is key when it comes to understanding ones self in relationship to ones actions and reality. Perspective, which is a personal point of view that comes from the self, is what shapes the reality that one interacts with. So it is the self, and one s relationship with the self that truly determines and ones actions and view of the world. Don Quixote is an excellent example of how one s perspective and self awareness are important. In this story a man sets out on his own adventure to right the wrongs of the world. However, in spite of noble intentions, this hero ends up causing much more harm then needed because he is not self aware and has a different perspective than everyone else. In the play Othello many characters have the same issue with perspective and self awareness. Othello and Iago are the two main characters that allow their views on themselves to take control over their actions without their awareness. There is a tragic ending to this play and it was all because of differing perspectives and lack of self awareness. The Bhagavad Gita discusses the importance of the Self and how one must find ways to shape and understand the self for the better. He argued that by investing government funds, the amplitude of the business cycle could be reduced and would stabilize continued economic growth. Another method of managing aggregate demand involved taxation. By lowering the taxes on certain goods and raising others, the government could influence public demand for certain products to fluctuate based on its benefit to the economy as a whole. b. Another concept of Keynesian thought is that of excessive savings. Mr. Keynes believed that if savings occurred in excess of the planned investment it would increase the possibility of a recession or depression. He believed that excessive savings were caused by discouraging business prospects, over investment in previous years, and a decrease in consumer demand. The law of supply and demand states simply that as savings increased interest rates would drop, until there was no longer reason to save; this plunging interest rate would bring the economy in balance once again. • 42. Mountain Men from the North American Rock Mountains Mountain men were most common in the North American Rocky Mountains from about 1810 through the 1880s (with a peak population in the early 1840s). Approximately 3,000 mountain men ranged the mountains between 1820 and 1840, the peak beaver harvesting period. While there were many free trappers, most mountain men were employed by major fur companies. The life of a company man was almost militarized. The men had mess groups, hunted and trapped inbrigades and always reported to the head of the trapping party. This man was called a boosway , a bastardization of the French term bourgeoisie. He was the leader of the brigade and the head trader. Donald Mackenzie, representing the North West Company, held a Rendezvous in the Boise RiverValley in 1819.[2] The rendezvous system was later implemented by William Henry Ashley of theRocky Mountain Fur Company, whose company representatives would haul supplies to specific mountain locations in the spring, engage in trading with trappers, and bring pelts back to communities on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in the fall. Ashley sold his business to the outfit of Jackson and Sublette. He continued to earn revenue by selling that firm their supplies. This system of rendezvous with trappers continued when other firms, particularly the American Fur Company owned by John Jacob Astor, entered the field. The annual rendezvous was often held at Horse Creek on the Green River, now called the Upper Green River Rendezvous Site, near present day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How variable are they compared with Vanguard Index 500 Trust? Which stock appears to be riskiest? The stock returns for each month are given in Table 1. Based on the monthly returns, the standard deviation or variability of each stock has been calculated. The standard deviation for California REIT is 9.23% and the standard deviation for Brown Group is 8.17%. This standard deviation is the monthly standard deviation for each of the stocks. On the other hand the standard deviation of Vanguard Index 500 Trust is 4.61%. This shows that the standard deviation of both the individual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Q 4. How might the expected return for each stock relate to its riskiness? The expected return for each of the stocks has been calculated by the Capital Asset Pricing Model. The risk free rate is one of the variables used in the CAPM formula. The risk free rate has been assumed here at 7% based on historical statistics as no information has been given regarding it. The second variable is the return on market. This return has been estimated from the average monthly return by transforming it into effective expected annual rate of return. Finally, the third variable used in the CAPM formula is beta which has been calculated in the third question. This beta incorporates the systematic risk in the formula to calculate the expected return for a particular stock. The expected return for Brown Group is 14.87% and for California RIET it is 8.00%. This shows that the expected return for Brown Group is much higher than the expected return of California RIET. The reason for this is that Brown Group stock is much riskier than that of California RIET; therefore, to compensate the high risk, higher return must be paid. When the potential investors will come to invest in the Brown Group stock they will demand extra premium to compensate them for the extra risk they are taking by investing in this stock. This is because of the basic principle of risk and return, which says that higher the risk higher should be the return. Now it will depend on the risk ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
