The National Law Center On Homelessness Poverty Essay
The National Law Center on Homelessness Poverty currently estimates that each year at least 2.5 to
3.5 million Americans sleep in shelters, transitional housing, and public places not meant for human
habitation. At least an additional 7.4 million have lost their own homes and are doubled up with others
due to economic necessity. According to Point in Time Count, San Diego had 8,692 homeless people.
Almost 3,800 of them were sleeping in emergency shelters or transitional housing. The Count showed
more than 5000 people were unsheltered. Some slept in cars, sidewalks or abandoned building.
Moreover, 61%of the homeless people in shelters were children and 40% were families and 1157 were
homeless veterans. Two advocates put this dilemma of the issue of falling from the scene into
perspective:
Something remarkable has happened to the spectacle of the street dwelling poor in the two decades
since it reappeared on the public stage: Homelessness became domesticated routine; an all but
expected feature of the urban landscape. No longer cause for vocal concern, let alone outrage, it has
been integrated into that cheerless diorama of un abashed wealth and relentless poverty that now
passes for normalcy in American cities. (Hopper, 2003, p. 193)
Decades and decades have passed without the resolve to end such an epidemic . . . Homelessness
doesn t end. Year after year, shelters provide refuge, churches and temples provide meals, downtown
missions offer care, social service agencies

Speech Persuasive Speech Comparison
Speech Comparison #2 Ted Talks is a treasure trove of information, capable of providing anyone with
a mountain of information on whatever might interest them. It is different to many other sources in
regards to how that information is given out, this being the way most all their videos are of people
giving speeches. Given the vast collection of speeches on the site, we can find many a great
performances where it is obvious that the speaker had a great effect on the audience and also where
the audience wasn t very much influenced. On the topic of aging and general health, there were two
speeches by Aubrey de Grey s and Dan Buettner, and we will be comparing these two speeches
together No great speech can be created without a good hook. Unfortunately, it seems like neither of
them really created a great hook. They failed to really capture the attention of the audience and reel
them in. Both introductions had weak hooks, but they made it so that you at least knew what the
speakers were going to talk about and what direction they re going to take with their speeches. Despite
both intros being weak, Aubrey de Grey s introduction was clearly weaker. Grey did not have any
hook whatsoever. Instead, he told the audience that he was strapped for time and that he would need to
dive in right ahead. Buettner on the other hand, at least tried to create a hook by starting off with a fact
that not many people would know. It was weak, but better than nothing. The hook is out of the way
and next is fluidity for the introduction. Bueller makes it easy for the audience to follow along with
what he s saying. His use of transitive words guides the audience and it makes it easy to follow along.
This along with his pleasant tone and flow makes it easy to pay attention. A stark contrast to Grey s
speech. Grey at times became quite hard to follow due to his near monotonal voice and the speed at
which he spoke. It was hard to follow what he was saying and often times I ended up lost, missing
quite a bit of the information that he was giving out. At one point, I even checked that I had not
accidentally changed the video s speed because of how fast it was going. This combined with the lack
of any real hook, made it very hard to pay

The Position Of Ceo Of An Established Organization
Rising to the position of CEO of an established organization is a journey that takes years of
commitment, hard work, and consistent learning. Many people view educational achievement as a
guarantee to the best work positions, but that is not always the case. Reaching the heights of success is
a culmination of efforts, continuous search for excellence through learning, discipline, and persistence.
While academic excellence is an important component of success, particularly regarding acquiring
relevant knowledge and skill, it is also important to realize that education alone does not guarantee
success. Moving from being an information management officer to become the CEO of a top systems
management company in the country cannot be attributed solely to strong G.P.A., a bachelor degree,
or my MBA. However, these credentials played a significant role in getting an opportunity to work for
my success. There may be a variety of theories by different inspiration speakers and mentors on what
one needs to do to become successful. While most of what they recommend may be appropriate for
different situations, I believe that the beginning of any success is built on a strong desire to excel that
leads a person to invest time and resources in a career (Hill, 2001). When the strong desire for success
develops to passion, it makes you seek the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue particular goals.
The desire to excel in academic work is reflected in consistently improving grades and

Driving Across The Golden Gate Bridge
Driving across the golden gate bridge is a sight to see. Well it is a site o see if you can see through the
layers of thick fog and if your car sat up high enough you could see out over the bridge. The air was
not freezing, but there was a chill in the breeze that gave me goose bumps. Driving down crooked
roads, and eating the sourdough bread instead of the soup inside it are special memories. It was a few
days in San Francisco last summer that gave me a love for somewhere other than home. Being the
middle child, my parents have always taken the older sibling on trips and so when the opportunity
came around for a trip. The time was 11:00 am. The date was June 3rd, and the destination was San
Francisco. When we arrived at the airport and were waiting to get on the plane the time flew by; 3
hours felt like 30 minutes. I waited anxiously for the plane to take off and when it did, my stomach
turned upside down. I knew there was no turning back now. We landed at the San Francisco airport,
and my parents told me we got a rental car, and I got to pick it out. I chose a slick, deep red Chrysler;
the idea of that car gave me a spring in my step. The first item for sightseeing was Alcatraz. It thrilled
me. I had just spent three trimesters In AP History, and then I got to visit one of those historical places
I had learned about. We had To ride a ferry to Alcatraz, but when we go off the ferry the vivid image
of history was around me. Inside the basement of Alcatraz we were given

How Did The Atomic Bomb Change The World
The Bombs That Changed The World
On August 6th, 1945, the Japanese woke up to their hometowns and country filled with flames and
radioactive material. This event changed warfare as we know it, and will forever have an effect on the
Japanese and American culture. These two bombs, Little Boy and Fat Man, killed thousands of people
and in total, took a huge toll on the world then and today.
First, the bombs had a huge effect on the Japanese people, the countries that surrounded Japan such as
Korea, and World War Two as a whole. The two bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Little
Boy and Fat Man, killed at least 129,000 people in total. It ended up causing other issues, such as
child birth defects and a boost in illness. In the year following the bombs dropped, 1946, there were an
astounding 1900 deaths from cancer. This is said to come from the bombs radiation fallout. One good
result that came from all the tragedy of the war, is that Japan ended up surrendering to the Allies. This
was around the same time that Germany surrendered, so the allies took the win. ... Show more content

met the criteria of having effective damage, and being 3 miles in diameter with the bonus of being a
large urban center. There were more operations called like this one, they just never got called because
Japan ended up surrendering. One operation, called Operation Olympic, was to invade Japan. This
operation is estimated to result in 130,000 to 220,000 people. Japan ended up surrendering to the

Vulnificus Essay
V. vulnificus causes disease in individuals who eat contaminated seafood or contaminating an open
wound or even a tiny scratch with seawater containing the organism. Because of the high
multiplication rate of the pathogen, wound infections may quickly progress to necrotizing fasciitis and
even secondary septicemia (Bier et al. 2015a). Babolsar is a coastal city in Iran. This investigation was
performed as the public awareness of the existence of the bacterium in the regions under study. Shaw
et al. (Shaw et al. 2014) reported that V. vulnificus strains were detected from all sampling locations in
Chesapeake Bay and Maryland Coastal Bays. Paydar and Thong (Paydar and Thong 2013) reported a

The abundance of V. vulnificus in coastal water was strongly correlated to water temperature. The
isolation of cultivable forms is limited to the warmest months. Maugeri TL et al reported that V.
vulnificus was isolatd only when the water temperature was between 20 to 21.5°C (Maugeri et al.
2006). In the present study, the bacterium was isolated during the summer season (average water
temperature of 25°C). It seems that this finding can show association of the cultivable forms on high
water temperature. In the current research, V. vulnificus was not found in any samples obtained in the
spring (average water temperature of 15°C). In the Gulf of Mexico V. vulnificus was not isolated when
seawater temperatures were 14°C (Pfeffer et al. 2003).When the water temperatures reach to less than
13°C, V. vulnificus strains enter the VBNC state in which they are metabolically active but unable to
reproduce on common culture media (Nowakowska and Oliver 2013, Wu et al. 2016). In conclusion,
with regard to the presence of V. vulnificus in the area under study, the bacterium may cause disease in

Summary of Facts
Chris and Sue are 50 percent shareholders in BackBone personal service corporation. Backbone
provides chiropractic services in four separate offices, in four small towns: Troy, Union, Vista and
Willow. Chris is the main chiropractor in the Troy office, and Sue heads up the Vista office. Charlie,
the main chiropractor in the Willow office, does not see eye to eye with Chris and Sue on management

In addition, Chris and Sue will not have to worry about any loss of profits since the profits of the new
subsidiary corporation will flow through to the BackBone personal service corporation.
Issue and Conclusion 2
How should the corporate reorganization be structured?
The corporate reorganization should be structured as a divisive D reorganization and the restructuring
process should conform to section 355 of the tax law in order to minimize the tax consequences of the
reorganization.
Law and Analysis 2
Section 368(a)(1) of the tax code provides several options for corporate reorganizations. Section
368(a)(1)(d), also known as a divisive D reorganization , is the best choice for this particular situation.
In a divisive D reorganization, the controlling corporation (in this case, BackBone) will distribute
assets (the Willow office) to a newly formed subsidiary corporation, in exchange for the stock of the
new subsidiary corporation, in a transaction that qualifies under section 355 (Sec. 368(a)(1)(d)). After
the transaction is complete, the Willow office will be its own corporation which is wholly (or at least
mostly) owned by BackBone. BackBone will also still own and control the Troy, Union and Vista
offices after the reorganization.
Issue and Conclusion 3
What will be the tax consequences of the reorganization?
Section 355 of the tax code will drastically reduce, or even completely eliminate, any tax liability
caused by

Women In Canada
It is visible that the violence and discrimination experienced by Aboriginal women and girls in Canada
is a national tragedy, which has sadly received meager attention in our nation. Native Women s
Association of Canada (2013) explained how this has tragically led to the number of missing and
murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada being excessively high. Systematic oppression and
negligence from the Canadian Government to actively address this national tragedy were dominant
themes that were illustrated by the absence of research and data available on this subject. Additionally,
it was appalling to realize that no policies were established, but only politically charged strategies
were recommended to confront this grave social problem.
Dr. Ismael mentioned a critical point about how the absence of policies on missing and murdered
Aboriginal women speaks volumes of the Canadian Government s priorities, which converges to our
values as a nation. When a government neglects to establish policies to help eradicate a social issue, it
sets an undertone on a national and international level to what and whom they perceive as valuable. As
a result, I realized the absence of policies is a representation of wider social problems, which
correlates to the blatant evidence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Nickel And Dimed Power Structures Essay
Power Structures in Nickel and Dimed
The United States prides itself on being a democracy in which equal opportunity and the pursuit of
happiness are guaranteed rights for all citizens. There is no uncertainty in the loyalty that Americans
have towards this promise of natural, unalienable rights. However, as Michael Foucault explains in
Discipline and Punish, the power structures present in society infringe on our rights to equal
opportunity and happiness by forcing us to abide by social norms and expectations. Using Barbara
Ehrenreich s experience as a low wage worker in Nickel and Dimed as an example, it is clear that the
power structure of observation that Foucault describes disciplines low wage workers to behave and
live in a way society deems appropriate.
In order to understand the power structures present in her description of life as a low wage worker in
Nickel and Dimed, we need to first understand Michael Foucault s philosophy regarding discipline
and surveillance. Rather than perceive power and discipline as strictly political and authoritative,
Foucault believes that society is structured in a way in which constant observation disciplines us to
abide by social norms and expectations. This constant surveillance is omnipresent in the sense that
observation occurs in all realms of society, from education to sexuality. To further explain this idea of
disciplining through constant inspection, Foucault describes Jeremy Bentham s panoptican, a type of
prison in which

These regulatory developments have broadened the scope of permissible acquisitions and highlight
China s ongoing commitment to honoring its WTO undertakings. However, there are still regulations
having a substantial and generally adverse impact on mergers and acquisitions by foreign companies
targeting domestic companies in China. What are they are what lead them to exist?
4.1 Background of the acquiring firm
The foreign investor must be a listed or public company, have had a clean record for at least three
years, and be domiciled and listed in jurisdictions with sound regulatory systems. The domestic
company or its shareholders engage a consultant registered in China to conduct due diligence on the
foreign company. An extensive filing by the foreign company, including security interests on its assets
and a report on trading in its shares during the previous six months is also required.
The M A regulations substantially restrict deal terms. They mandate required investor qualifications
and identify the applicable approval process. The regulations restrict the permissible types of
consideration and payment schedules, and impose valuation requirements that may impact on pricing.
Many practices common in other jurisdictions are restricted in China. The regulations limit the parties

The Image of the Big House as a Central Motif in The Real...
The Image of the Big House as a Central Motif in The Real Charlotte The image of the big house has
long been a central motif in Anglo Irish literature. From Maria Edgeworth s Castle Rackrent (1800), it
has been a source of inspiration to many writers. One of the reason s for the surge in castle rackrents
(a generic term employed by Charles Maturin) through the 19th and early 20th century, is that many
writers who used the big house as a backdrop to their work were residents of such houses themselves
writers such as Sommerville and Ross, George Moore and Elizabeth Bowen, were born into the
ascendancy and wrote about an era and society with which they were familiar. However modern
writers, such as Molly Keane and John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sommerville and Ross have not focused on the physical disintegration of the Big House in The Real
Charlotte, but as they based the novel on their experiences as part of the Ascendancy, we can see the
corrosion of the upper classes stature and power through characterization and setting. The driving
force of all Big House fiction is the isolation of the Anglo Irish Ascendancy both physically and
metaphorically. The country homes of the Ascendancy/landlords, were deemed Big Houses because of
their grandeur and setting; they were huge in comparison to the cottiers mud cabins and labourers
cottages of the Irish natives, thus were unrivalled in the countryside. Elizabeth Bowen accurately
described their physical detachment from other social classes: with its stables and farm and gardens
deep in trees at the end of long avenues is an island and, like an island, a world. [3] Their
disconnection was deliberate as they generally only interacted with other gentry in the confines of
their estates, and consequently their only contact with the native Irish was in their role as master and
servant. Although these houses were built to inspire awe in social equals and deference in the lower
classes, as Terence Dooley states, such deference in Ireland was: tinged with a sense of resentment
because they were built on what most tenant farmers would deem to have been confiscated land. [4]
Adding to their image as usurpers was the fact that many were

Response To Conflict Research Paper
What is conflict? It is a word commonly used by humans, but some can t even define the word.
Conflict is a battle, fight, or struggle, and there are many ways that humans can respond to it.
However, the most effective way to respond is by compromising. Throughout history, compromise has
saved so many lives, and has kept peaceful relations between people. Even though war is a terrible
thing, there are times when it is necessary to effectively settle disputes, as shown by Elie Wiesel, who
survived a concentration camp, and Winston Churchill, who was struggling to defeat Nazi Germany.
Overall, compromise is the most effective way to respond to conflict.
There are multiple examples throughout history where conflict has had a better effect than ... Show

On the battlefield, soldiers are hurt and killed every day. But, according to the Science Museum,
Soldiers not only suffered on the battlefield. Veterans often needed long term care owing to the
physical and psychological impact of war. Especially in the Vietnam War, since the soldiers were
constantly being attacked, but couldn t see their enemy. This messed with their minds, and the ones
still alive today have never been the same since they got back from Vietnam. War not only has
negative effects on soldiers, but also on the townspeople who live near war. The Science Museum also
writes, Civilians, particularly children, can also suffer the effects of trauma. Civilians don t only have
the constant fear of the war getting too close to them, but also the fear of bombs and harmful
chemicals. Again, in the Vietnam War, US forces used a chemical called agent orange to destroy the
foliage of forests so they could see their enemy better. This, though, has had a long term effect on
everyone who was exposed to the chemical by giving them radiation poisoning, or in some cases,
cancer. Also in the Vietnam War, the US dropped bombs on North Vietnam, and hit many houses,
villages, and fields where the civilians grew their food. Many people died who weren t even part of
the war. It can be very hard for countries to regain their strength and money once a long war is
finished. Take Germany, for example. After WW1, Germany s economy was very unstable, so the US
gave them reparation loans to rebuilt it. An article written by Wikipedia says, The German
Government estimated it had paid the equivalent of 67.8 billion gold marks in reparations. And they
didn t pay it off until 2010! War has many negative effects, which is why compromising is a better

Paul Mccartney s Contributions Of The Beatles
Paul McCartney was born June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England. His contribution in the Beatles in the
1960s helped pop music ascend from its origins in the entertainment business and morphed it into a
highly respected creative commercial art form. He also remains as one of the most prominent solo
performers of all time in terms of both recordings at his concerts and sales of his attendants.
Sir James Paul McCartney was born on June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England, to James and Mary

Paul McCartney felt comfortable playing with him, later joining Lennon s band, the Quarrymen.
By the early 60s, the band had changed their name to a new nickname, The Beatles. The band
included George Harrison, Richard Starkey and Stuart Sutcliffe. These musicians soon to be world
famous started playing in Hamburg, Germany, spending a couple of years playing at multiple pubs
there. Stuart left the band early, leaving Paul to pick up the bass becoming the new bass player. During
their stay in Hamburg, the Beatles recorded their first songs, acquiring the attention of Brian Epstein,
who rapidly signed on as the Beatle s manager. Pete Best was replaced by drummer Ringo Starr who
only helped the group gain attention.
The effect that the Beatles would have on 60s music popular culture is difficult to exaggerate.
Beatlemania soon struck the world and mainstream media, and when the band made their debut in the
USA, the media mixed the period of musical crossover between the two nations the British Invasion.
However, they didn t know that this era would truly have a lasting impact on rock n roll music.
In 1967, the band suffered a tragic loss, when their manager Brian Epstein passed away. From that
point onwards, the Beatles began to lose their unified creative focus, and all four members began to
develop their own individual ambitions. In 1969, Paul married his first wife Linda, whom he d met in
nightclub in London called The Bag O Nails.

The Album Ep By Jeff Buckley
Grace, the only album released by artist Jeff Buckley, due to his untimely death, contained a number
of his original songs as well as some covers. This album released in 1994, sold only modestly but was
warmly received by critics (Simon and Schuster, 2001), and gained Buckley immense respect as an
artist. His song Lover, you should ve come over was evidence that Buckley was a talented artist who
was not only an excellent performer but an excellent songwriter who could craft melodies and words
as well. Lover is essentially a soul ballad (Beviglia, 2014), with moments of intensity and moments of
release as well. Through analyzing this song one may begin to explore the song s virtual experience
also known as the story, or narrative of a musical work that is influenced by the artist perspective
(Sellnow, 2007), as well as the virtual time, and understand the overall message and congruency or
incongruences of the song. Lover by Jeff Buckley is a song with an interesting message due to its
hopeful lyrics and soulful tone and instrumentation, which create a congruent depiction of the
message. Jeff Buckley s song Lover You Should ve Come Over expresses a storyline through its
virtual experience of a protagonist beating all odds and seeking a resolution. Through the
incorporation of dramatic illusion and comic rhythm, this song additionally creates a virtual story with
feelings of suspense. Virtual experience is categorized into rhythm and illusion with

New Health Care Reform For The United States
New Health Care Reform
In 2014, the US entered into the force sensational health care reform of the protection of patients in
the United States, which is called The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Under this reform,
all the citizens and residents of the country are required to have health insurance. It has also caused
many discussions and opinions among people. Supporters of it say that this is a significant step
forward, since there is no company that can refuse a person in the insurance policy. However,
opponents believe that this reform will only worsen the condition of the Americans. The current health
care reform has its drawbacks, such as increased fees for insurance, and the impossibility of choice,
therefore, it is necessary for change.
Body
The first problem faced by the Americans after the health care reform entered into force, is the growth
of insurance fees. Insurance companies, in order to protect themselves from the increased risk of
payment for the treatment of their clients, have raised fees for their services. Therefore, many healthy
citizens were against this law because they did not want to take payment for the increased risk of
insurance companies. Now, there is a monopoly on the market which allows the companies to set
higher prices, and the government provided them by law that all the citizens will have to buy their
services. Thus, the authorities of the country provided a steady income for their insurance
organizations using the citizens

National Parks And The National Park
The National Park Service is one of the most widely recognized American foundations. There are over
58 National Parks in the United States. Among some of the more famous are The Grand Canyon
National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Glacier National Park. During the World Conference for
National Parks, John F. Kennedy said these famous words about our National Parks, National parks
and reserves are an integral aspect of intelligent use of natural resources. It is the course of wisdom to
set aside an ample portion of our natural resources as national parks and reserves, thus ensuring that
future generations may know the majesty of the earth as we know it today. After looking at the history
of the National Park Service, the first National Park, the largest National Park, and the most visited
National Park, people can begin to understand how National Parks are symbols of our freedom and
help preserve our culture for future generations.
The history of the national park is very important to understanding the importance of them. The idea if
a national park is largely credited to George Catlin. He traveled to North and South Dakota in 1832,
where he began to see the impact of the American Expansion on the Indians, the wilderness, and the

How Did The Great Divergence Occur In The 19th Century
The Great Divergence signifies a period in history where Europe, particularly north western Europe,
developed economically at a much faster rate than the most prosperous parts of Asia, namely India and
China. However, the timing of this period is unclear, with dispute amongst historians as to whether it
occurred in the aftermath of the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century, or as being well under
way in the seventeenth century (Gupta and Ma, 2010, p. 285). Chinese failure and European success
arguably both contributed to the Great Divergence, but it is key to determine its timing in order to
understand which ultimately led to the phenomenon. This essay will outline both arguments and
attempt to show that the Great Divergence occurred by the seventeenth century.

similar in terms of trade, literatures and centralisation (Goldstone, 2002, p. 338). In fact, India and
China can be seen as more technically advanced; India s cotton was unrivalled by England

well developed bureaucracy, and was not bettered in terms its manufactures (Marks 1997; cited by

The New Madrid Seismic Zone is also known as the New Madrid Fault Line. A fault is a thin zone of
crushed rock that separates the Earth s crust. Whenever an earthquake takes place, it occurs on one of
the faults. Then the rock on one of the sides slips with respect to the other. The fault line is made up of
reactivated faults. The reactivated faults formed when North America began to separate. Faults were
formed next to rift and igneous rocks were formed from the magma that was pushed up to the surface

Dracula And The Female Sexuallity As Disease
Dracula and Carmilla Female Sexuallity as Disease
In the two classic gothic vampire tales, Carmilla and Dracula, both novels have similarities through
their displays of sexuality. Sexuallity isn t just displaying sexual intentions towards other people. The
two novels explore how vampirism represents female sexuality as a disease through different means.
In Carmilla, the character of Carmilla s vampirism is linked with disease because she has bitten Laura,
one of her many victims, and fed off of her. Through Carmilla s action of biting Laura and displaying
deep affection for her, Carmilla s female sexuality was linked to a disease. In Dracula Mina and Lucy
are two females who are both victims of vampirism and showcase how vampirism is a disease. The
novel explores how they deal with the effects of vampirism and how the men in the novel treat
vampirism. This essay explores, compares and contrasts Carmilla and Dracula through their use of
vampirism to represent female sexuality as an illness that affects the women in the novels.
Carmilla is like a disease herself, showing up unexpectedly at Laura s home. When she met Laura mist
was used as a symbol of miasma, which represents the disease of vampirism and the danger of
Carmilla s arrival (116 Willis). Throughout the story, Carmilla represented herself as a disease which
spread around quickly, as the wife of a pig farmer and daughter of a forest ranger, who are both part of
the working class, have been killed off (116 Willis).

The Boom Of The Music In The 90 s
The music has the power to connect different people in groups and it reflects how well the society is
and which are the biggest problems in our daily lives. For this, the musical themes have defined the
last decades with the main social, political and economic topics. The main purpose of this essay is to
show the relationship between the musical themes and the social facts for the last three decades. The
boom of the music in the 90 s had as the central topic the creation of new ideologies, Michael Jackson
with his single We are the world , talks about how the people connects with others, no matter how
long we are from each other. Shania Twain had a boom in the middle 90 s, a pop country singer that
supports the idea of gender equity, she established the genre of independent woman in her songs.
Groups like Nirvana established the idea of revolution, encouraging the society to end with the
political system with singles such as Smells like teen spirit , in which Nirvana explains how the

Stereotypes And Perceptions Of Military Personnel
For many years a great deal of men and women have bravely fought to protect their country, yet those
who have served are often misunderstood. People s perception of military personnel has been mislead
by different experiences they have with them, which is why people have different views on different
people. Stereotypes and misconceptions are used by people to talk about or describe others based on
the limited knowledge they have on the group of people. Stereotypes are a widely believed mental
picture of a group that are based on truth, but are usually exaggerated. This leads someone to infer that
a person has characteristics and abilities just as the rest of the group he or she is associated with has.

Stereotypes and misconceptions can be learned by anyone at any time since there are many sources to
get them from and as long as people are not properly informed about a group stereotypes and
misconceptions will always be out there. Stereotypes are often made by the media and other groups in
order to make society believe what they believe or what they want others to believe which may lead to
the negative way a person thinks about others. These stereotypes and misconceptions can be seen
when news stations talk about military, politics, celebrities, and other subjects. The news can portray
them as bad or good people but it all depends on what benefits them or others. This is why people
have different views on certain groups of people, since some people hear different things than others
there is always different stereotypes or misconceptions regarding another group of people. Stereotypes
and misconceptions of a group from others who know little leads to the bad or good reputation formed
by the misleading statements. For example, movies and documentaries such as 13 Hours and
American Sniper portray Navy Seals as tall and really muscular men. The main characters are almost
always the biggest men and most of them have fully grown beards. In most of the movies these guys
in most cases are the heroes. They do the impossible and win in the most improbable situation, which
is probably why people see Navy Seals as the most lethal men in the Navy. Most people believe that

Fargo, and the role of Setting
Fargo, a dark and somewhat humorous crime movie by the Coen Brothers delves into themes of
isolation, morality, and greed. And throughout the film, a very prominent role is played by the setting.
The Coen brothers make sure that no one misses where the story takes place small town upper
Midwest in the middle of a frigid winter. The film makes extensive use of the frozen landscape, the
characterization of rural Midwesterners, and realistic depiction of the events of the story in order to
emphasize these themes. There is a great deal of contrast in this movie between moral and amoral
characters as well as contrast between what the viewer expects from such dark ... Show more content

This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude.
Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story and
feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern setting
becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the residents of
rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and moral, and that
becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are portrayed.
Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by
Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the stereotypical
nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this demeanor. Even
though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the case, she maintains
this even tempered friendly attitude.
This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with
the sinister things that are taking place around her. This emphasizes the nature of the events that have
come to pass. Throughout the movie, the disparity between the demeanor of the characters and
surrounding events creates a subtle humor really a second viewing of the movie to

A Family Is Like A Patchwork Quilt
A Family is Like a Patchwork Quilt
What is the meaning of family? The internet will tell you that it is a group consisting of parents and
children living together in a household. But I beg to differ. Family doesn t just consist of several
people living under one roof: no, a family is a living, breathing organism. Family is messy and it takes
effort on everyone s part to make it function correctly. Is there such thing as a perfect family? No,
absolutely not. That s the message that I got from watching Parenthood. Although hilarious, it was an
accurate depiction of a family. I can easily relate to Gill s family, especially Kevin. When I was a little
girl I was anxious about everything. I was anxious over things that really shouldn t be weighing on a
little girls mind. When my family and I would be driving, whether it being across town or across the
state, I was a backseat driver. I would be strapped into my car seat, fretting about the weather or if my
father was getting too close to another car. When I would hear the gas light come on, I would freak
out. I was so terrified that we would run out of gas and be stranded on the road, and I could never
calm down unless we pulled over right that minute at a nearest gas station to fill up the car. Thinking
back now it s kind of a ridiculous fear, but every now and then I still get anxious when the gaslight
comes on. I also relate to Gill so much. I know what it s like to have a dead beat brother. I know what

I was approximately 7 or 8 years old when the smell of gambling and blood was the air, thrilling the
expectations of the spectators. The ear piercing sound of a rooster begging for mercy from his
opponent. Like savages we cheered on the winner, I found myself in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Years
later, when I sit down to read, Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace, the feeling of guilt that
ran through my mind made me feel uncomfortable. the Lobster are boiled alive at these festivals and
as the author mentioned that, the lobster was moving in agony as he was trying to get out the pot while
he was boiling alive. For the people that do not care, it is not about individual conscience but on a
moral perspective. I have a simple question to ask them, can you imagine getting into a boiling pot
and boiled alive for approximately 35 45 seconds? Because that s how long it takes the lobster to die

The main problem in Russia is lack of a non corrupt government. It is impossible to run any country,

sort of government. Russia needs assistance in the form of socialist diplomatic support, advice, and

Faced with such bleak figures, some observers argue that the figures are simply false. There is little
doubt that data collection is plagued with difficulties, and there are fierce debates about methodology.
There are problems that exaggerate, and others which artificially underplay, the true state of Russia s
population. But as Tatiana Khokhlova of the Russian European Centre for Economic Policy in
Moscow argues: It is very difficult to talk about the absolute level of poverty, but you can analyse the
trends. And those trends are distinctly pessimistic.
Government figures often show what citizens are entitled to receive rather than what they do receive.
In 1997, just 20 per cent of income that Russians were entitled to under federal laws was actually paid
(Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Since then, arrears on the payment of wages and
social benefits have increased sharply. Pensions are on average paid with a delay of one month at
present, and wages are 2.5 months behind (Andrew, POVERTY: Bleak future for the poor ). Equally,
there is little doubt that Russians conceal the true extent of their income from official surveys as part
of a broader strategy of tax avoidance. A recent World Bank study found that most people admitted to
spending twice what they claimed to earn. Other research suggested that undeclared informal income
had rocketed in the past few years to an average of

Factors Of White Collar Crimes
The inner factors of white collar crimes
In the modern society, the authority of police becomes more powerful and there are a lot of new laws
issued to restrict personal behaviors, bringing a more peaceful community to the public. Indeed, the
incidences of horrible crimes such as robbery, kidnapping and murder decrease, partially because of
the better living condition. However, some other types of crimes emerge recently. These new crimes
are endangering the fairness and operation of the society. White collar crime is a new type crime
which is less horrible than crimes such as robbery, but it is a serious threat to ethical standards of the
society and people s life. To prevent the occurrence of white collar crime, it is necessary to know what
factors may cause people to commit such crimes. Moreover, many white collar criminals have stable
jobs and satisfactory living conditions. The motivations of these criminals may be related to their
personalities. It is important to discover inner factors which influence people s decisions in white
collar crimes.

Ducati s success was a combination of Ducati engineers passion for their work, their detailed attention
to the design process, and a well defined, developed method called the Ducati Method. The Ducati
Method helped lead to modular design via extensive use of CAD and simulation technology to
optimize the design before physically developing the components followed by intense testing to
validate the design.
Question 2: How did Ducati use data?
Processing, interpreting, and using real time data is a complex task which the Ducati engineers
employed with the help of other departments. They utilized rider feedback from the races, videos of
each race, track tests, data on race performance, and functional data acquired by on bike sensors.
Ducati used the data from the track to identify problems that could not be detected in simulation. This
type of data is excellent for measuring relative performance, evaluating structural stress loads,
drivetrain torque, and system temperatures. However, it can be greatly influenced by the driver and
environmental conditions. Data of this volume proved difficult to sift through, and additional staffers
were hired to tackle it for the 2004 season.
Question 3: What is your assessment of their approach?
We feel that Ducati s approach was ineffective due to the lack of a structured plan with clear priorities.
Ducati Corse tried to solve more problems than they were able, which seemed to result in missed

Racing Flat Research Paper
The Preferred Choice
Fast times are the key to success in the world of running. When it comes to race day attire you have
two real options that will give you an advantage over someone wearing a normal training shoe. These
are a racing flat and a spike. A racing flat has the ability to support an athlete on uneven terrain and
provide them cushioning on hard surfaces making them incredibly versatile. Also a racing flat is more
than capable of being worn for races as long as a marathon while being light enough to give you great

This can be supported by, A study published in a 2012 issue of the Journal of the American College of
Sports notes that people who run in barefoot or with minimalist shoes such as racing flats instinctively
land toward the ball of the foot. This reduces the risk of injury, which is more prevalent for those who
land on the heel (Yemi 1). This is a clear fact that has been supported by numerous studies. The nature
of a racing flat allows your foot to go through a more natural motion while running. This reduces
injury. Another factor that makes a racing flat good at reducing injury is that it still has sufficient
cushioning. Also in the study conducted by the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine they say that
In this study, the amplified loading rate, stiffness, and peak vertical impact force demonstrate that
running spikes and flats produced a greater external force on the body. The initial impact force
between the foot and the ground is directly transmitted to the leg and can potentially be an influential
factor in injury risk (logan, Hunter, and Hopkins 6). The cushioning as mentioned previously is light
enough to give an athlete better performance while still substantial enough to protect the runner from
some of this initial shock of running on a hard surface such as a track. A spike on the other hand has

The Film Opens On A Post Stroke Alan Lomax
The Film opens on a post stroke Alan Lomax having a discussion with his daughter at his home in
Tarpon Springs, Florida. The man who attempted to record the whole world s musical heritage nods
approvingly as his daughter reads from an article that he had written forty years prior. In 1996, Lomax
suffered from a brain hemorrhage that incapacitated him for the remaining years of his life, the
director of Lomax the songhunter, Rogier Kappers was able to film him in his last year of life, 2002.
The documentary then truly begins as the director s mustard yellow Volkswagen drives out on a
journey to meet a myriad of the people Alan Lomax had recorded and befriended. As the title fades
onto the screen a piece of percussive blues music is played to introduce the viewer to the type of raw
music that this documentary would be covering. After a short clip from a Charles Kuralt interview, the
director informs us about his deep admiration for Alan Lomax and gives reason as to why he is
making the documentary. The first section of the film focuses on Lomax s travels through Britain,
interviewing the folksong collector that helped him with his work in the British Isles as well as a few
of the singers he recorded. Tweed Waulking songs are used as a transition to the subject of work songs
and Alan s fascination with them. Film recordings of inmates singing penitentiary songs whilst they
work are shown, as Alan recounts how he fell in love with this specific type of folk song.

Unlawful Murder Case
Answer
When taking a look at the case this particular incident would fall under the unlawful act and criminally
negligent homicide. The young man made the mistake of pointing what the thought was an unloading
handgun at one of his friends then pulling the trigger and killing him. As a gun owner, it is his
responsibility to make sure that the weapon is unloaded regardless even if it was not loaded the day
before. Is the question that is this an unlawful killing? The answer would be yes. Murder is considered
an unlawful act, so this would also consider murder. It could be looked at as murder with special
circumstances. However, unlawful acts are crimes that constitute both misdemeanor and felonies and
that includes murder no matter if was accidental

Real Estate And Its Effects On The Economy Essay
Real Estate Investing Real Estate has been a driving force in world economies since the days of
Babylon, one of the most fantastic developments the world has ever known, and the desire to create,
not destroy, is alive and well. As the world grows more populous and available land diminishes, the
opportunities that real estate development has to offer are vast and obtainable. As we descend from the
booming 90s and find ourselves burdened with the realities of our own self inflicted economic
implosion caused by greed and speculation, many investors find solace in the tangible world of real
estate. Moreover, the destructive effects of September the 11th are still disgorged down through our
economy, which is causing an ever increasing desire for a more concrete wealth building option not
offered by many paper investments. Many investors are still coping with the fall of such giants as
Enron and world to come, while others are looking for the stability that the real estate market offers,
and when you add all these ingredients to the grossly over priced US stock market, one find a more
appealing meal in the fascinating world of real estate. In this paper, I will go to talk about the 8 Tips
for Success in real estate investing; first be resolved because the Real estate is not something to do on
a caprice. Investing in real estate is a lifelong pursuit to take control of your financial future, not a get
rich quick blueprint. As investors you will struggle

Argumentative Analysis Of Ariana Grande s T-Cell Phone...
T mobile was founded about twenty years ago in Bonn, Germany. Since then, T mobile has grown to
be one of the top competitors in the U.S. Side to Side is a T mobile commercial featuring Ariana
Grande. Ariana is in the passenger seat listening and singing along to her song but then get s kicked
out and sadly replaced by a map. The driver is using Verizon as her phone carrier but then runs out of
data and says, Verizon limits me and I have to get home. T mobile is providing their audience the
option of unlimited data and show other great promotions they currently have, but only for a limited
time. Although there s thousands of great phone companies, I argue that the advertisement effectively
convinces the audience to make the right choice and purchase with T mobile through it s use of
audience, logos, and ethos. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Flies Over The Philippines, Indonesia And Much Of The...
Enroute:
Enroute to Darwin the airliner flies over the Philippines, Indonesia and much of the Indian Ocean. The
flight is around 2300 nautical miles (4300km) and in the Airbus A320 travelling at approximately
430kt (800km/hr) it will take five hours and twenty minutes.
ITCZ:
This flight travels straight through the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). This is a belt of low
pressure where the northeast and southeast tradewinds meet, pushing air upwards. It is situated around
the equator but moves seasonally following the suns zenith point. The ITCZ appears as a belt of
clouds, which is responsible for the wet and dry season in the tropics. This area is also known for its
strong convective weather. Any aircrew that is travelling through this region needs to be aware of the
conditions associated with ITCZ and the relative tradewinds as it can jeopardize the safety of the
aircraft.
An active ITCZ has strong tradewinds causing solid lines of active Cumulonimbus (Cb) with other
types of clouds at higher levels. Due to the instability and predominantly vertical movement of air the
cloud development can be extreme with the tops reaching up to 55,000ft and can be some 300nm
wide. At this scale it is hard to avoid the clouds and determining whether the ITCZ is in an active or
inactive stage is hard as they develop and decay reasonably quickly. Not only will there be large cloud
formation but it will also be fairly saturated especially when over oceanic regions. An active ITCZ is

A Rhetorical Analysis on Nineteen Eighty-Four
Running Head: NINETEEN EIGHTY FOUR Nineteen Eighty Four: A Critical Essay on Rhetoric
Bereket Kifle Composition 12 Honors Abstract George Orwell employs the usage of different rhetoric
throughout 1984. The rhetoric differs from describing the human body and its struggle to survive to
the different crimes and how the citizens felt about them. Also, within 1984 lies a warning from
Orwell: to eliminate the caustic consequences of a communist government. While Orwell served as
part of the Indian Imperial Police in Burma during the 1920s, he examined the faults of the communist
government. This phenomenon inspired Orwell to warn governments world wide to stay on the right
path to a safe and free rule. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Logos Presented in 1984 This dictator, Big Brother, has lost all respect for the humble earnings of a
single household family. The despicable actions prophesized by Orwell s warning message leads to an
important question: why do dictators steal from the poor and give to themselves? The state is
responsible for the organization and direction of the economic life of the country, in accordance with a
central social and economic development plan , (Gale Research group, 1998). Orwell knew this and
talked about it quite a bit in his novel, which established logos; he knew that installing fear within the
minds of the citizens he watched over would lead, whether they wanted it or not, to their safety.
Stability is safety. Less knowledge is safety. When the Party is questioned less, there are fewer
opportunities for the Party to be wrong. This is why the mere thought of hating Big Brother earns
anyone a front row seat to death. Big Brother s opinions are strict very strict. They are so strict that
there are oversized cameras called telescreens installed everywhere throughout Oceania. The
telescreens ensure that nothing is said about Oceania s perfect leader. This device is installed as a
reminder that Big Brother is always watching (Orwell, 1949). In

INEZ BEVERLY PROSSER
Inez Beverly Prosser Twentieth Century African American Psychologist
Marcus Monteiro
PSY 310
May 4, 2014
Professor Sara Molloy
Abstract
Inez Beverly Prosser (1895 1934), was an African American psychologist of the early twentieth
century. Her main focus was on the significance of racism and its effects upon children relative to the
obtainment of fair and adequate education. This writing will address the endeavors, perspectives, and
accomplishments of this significant yet vastly under recognized African American female
psychologist. A psychologist who led us on a journey through her perspectives as seen through the
mind and eyes as an African American. It would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This theory focuses on the potential of an individual and the importance of self actualization. As an
educator, Prosser felt that Caucasian teachers within the institutions of the south were not equipped,
from a psychological perspective of the black culture to adequately teach African American students.
Prosser felt that the Caucasian educators could not relate to those students in the same manner as an
educator of the same race. Prosser set out to bring attention to the significance of her view by creating,
The Comparative Reliability of Objective Tests in English Grammar. The design of this study was
meant to demonstrate that the English grammar tests that were being administered at that time were
unreliable because they did not take into consideration the background or culture of the African
American students. During her tenure, Prosser conducted an extensive study to prove this point. In her
reason given for choosing Cincinnati for her research, this was made clear by her following statement,
(1) to measure vocational interests, leisure interests, play interests, social participation, emotional or
neurotic tendencies, social distance, ascendancy submission, overstatement, introversion extraversion,
and general personality adjustment. . . , (2) to ascertain the difference, if any, that exists in these traits,
and (3) to determine whether one or the other of these schools is better fostering growth in personality

Dramatic Impact On A Jacobean Audience
The Dramatic Impact on a Jacobean Audience of Act 1 Scene 5 of Shakespeare s Macbeth
In this essay I will be examining how Act 1 Scene 5 of Macbeth would have had a dramatic impact on
a Jacobean audience. I will also be exploring how Shakespeare s stagecraft his use of devices such as
symbolism, references to contemporary events and imagery would have helped to create this dramatic
impact. Macbeth was written to be performed on a stage, by actors, and to an audience. In Jacobean
England, drama was considered to be the greatest art form, and was appreciated by many classes of
people, from King James downwards, so these audiences would have been large and varied.

Two beliefs about witchcraft are also revealed by the letter. The belief that they could vanish into the
air is shown in the line they made themselves air, into which they vanished . The other belief shown is
that they could predict the future these weïrd sisters saluted me and referred me to the coming on of
time, The theme of the supernatural is strong throughout the play, and these references to witchcraft
would have been of especial interest to King James, for whom the play was first performed, as he was
particularly interested in witchcraft. Though this was the case, these references would also have
caught the attention of anyone who saw the play, as witchcraft was an important issue in Jacobean
Britain. They are also linked with darkness, unnaturalness and evil, other important themes of the play.
Many more beliefs about witchcraft are revealed in the rest of the scene, in Lady Macbeth s
soliloquies. . In her first soliloquy she says that I may pour my spirits in thine ear which shows the
belief that witches were able to influence people s thoughts. Parts of her second soliloquy in the scene
seem to be an incantation or spell. Her words come you spirits, who tend on mortal thoughts show that
witches could conjure up spirits to do their bidding, come to my woman s breasts is a reference to the
Jacobean s idea that witches were usually women,

Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship
Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection
I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards
their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they
have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that
there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child.
Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain
period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases.
This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The
parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense. Which
can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or majority
custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent into the
child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is constantly
happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and parents that
are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with majority custody
can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required to pay child
support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay child support is
at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect to face while
researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online websites. Even
though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to unscholarly
websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to a broken
relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection. The research question
being, Does child support make a parent feel like their child is an expense that leads to disconnection?
With many answers surrounding this

The Student Success Center Is A Student
The Student Success Center is a student employed tutorial service hosted by Arapahoe Community
College. It was founded in an effort to improve student learning in the college. Initially called the
Learning Strategy Center, then dubbed Tutorial Services, and now the Student Success Center, the
goal has always been the same: support student learning.
Debra Goldberg has been the Coordinator of Tutorial Services at ACC since 2000. She holds a Master
s degree in Education and taught English for 25 years. Every semester she employs and supervises
about 25 student tutors. She is responsible for interacting with the majority of departments throughout
the college.
When Goldberg initially took over the department, she made it her goal to bring ... Show more content

Once the session is concluded however, she will pull the tutor aside and have a discussion about
correcting behaviors.
Soft Skills
First impressions matter to Goldberg. When hiring new student tutors, Goldberg often makes a
decision on how the student presents his or herself. The student will represent the center, and the
students coming in for tutoring will also being making first impression judgements. The center wants
to create an environment where students want to stay through the session and come back for future
tutoring.
Communicating and being able to express ideas is another skill Goldberg looks for in the tutors she
hires. The tutor must be able to explain ideas and concepts clearly to the students who are struggling
with the material to avoid any additional confusion.
Goldberg must be able to communicate and work well with the other departments on campus, and the
tutors she employs must be able to communicate and work well with others to ensure a pleasant
experience for anyone who comes into the center. Soft skills are skills that everyone in the center uses
daily.
Anticipating the Audience
There are only two primary audiences that the Student Success Center interacts with: students and
ACC faculty members. The small audience makes anticipating the audience easier for the center,
because anything it produces is only going to one of two different audiences.
When Goldberg interacts with professors, it is usually to find a student doing well in the

  • 2. The National Law Center On Homelessness Poverty Essay The National Law Center on Homelessness Poverty currently estimates that each year at least 2.5 to 3.5 million Americans sleep in shelters, transitional housing, and public places not meant for human habitation. At least an additional 7.4 million have lost their own homes and are doubled up with others due to economic necessity. According to Point in Time Count, San Diego had 8,692 homeless people. Almost 3,800 of them were sleeping in emergency shelters or transitional housing. The Count showed more than 5000 people were unsheltered. Some slept in cars, sidewalks or abandoned building. Moreover, 61%of the homeless people in shelters were children and 40% were families and 1157 were homeless veterans. Two advocates put this dilemma of the issue of falling from the scene into perspective: Something remarkable has happened to the spectacle of the street dwelling poor in the two decades since it reappeared on the public stage: Homelessness became domesticated routine; an all but expected feature of the urban landscape. No longer cause for vocal concern, let alone outrage, it has been integrated into that cheerless diorama of un abashed wealth and relentless poverty that now passes for normalcy in American cities. (Hopper, 2003, p. 193) Decades and decades have passed without the resolve to end such an epidemic . . . Homelessness doesn t end. Year after year, shelters provide refuge, churches and temples provide meals, downtown missions offer care, social service agencies ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Speech Persuasive Speech Comparison Speech Comparison #2 Ted Talks is a treasure trove of information, capable of providing anyone with a mountain of information on whatever might interest them. It is different to many other sources in regards to how that information is given out, this being the way most all their videos are of people giving speeches. Given the vast collection of speeches on the site, we can find many a great performances where it is obvious that the speaker had a great effect on the audience and also where the audience wasn t very much influenced. On the topic of aging and general health, there were two speeches by Aubrey de Grey s and Dan Buettner, and we will be comparing these two speeches together No great speech can be created without a good hook. Unfortunately, it seems like neither of them really created a great hook. They failed to really capture the attention of the audience and reel them in. Both introductions had weak hooks, but they made it so that you at least knew what the speakers were going to talk about and what direction they re going to take with their speeches. Despite both intros being weak, Aubrey de Grey s introduction was clearly weaker. Grey did not have any hook whatsoever. Instead, he told the audience that he was strapped for time and that he would need to dive in right ahead. Buettner on the other hand, at least tried to create a hook by starting off with a fact that not many people would know. It was weak, but better than nothing. The hook is out of the way and next is fluidity for the introduction. Bueller makes it easy for the audience to follow along with what he s saying. His use of transitive words guides the audience and it makes it easy to follow along. This along with his pleasant tone and flow makes it easy to pay attention. A stark contrast to Grey s speech. Grey at times became quite hard to follow due to his near monotonal voice and the speed at which he spoke. It was hard to follow what he was saying and often times I ended up lost, missing quite a bit of the information that he was giving out. At one point, I even checked that I had not accidentally changed the video s speed because of how fast it was going. This combined with the lack of any real hook, made it very hard to pay ... • 4. The Position Of Ceo Of An Established Organization Rising to the position of CEO of an established organization is a journey that takes years of commitment, hard work, and consistent learning. Many people view educational achievement as a guarantee to the best work positions, but that is not always the case. Reaching the heights of success is a culmination of efforts, continuous search for excellence through learning, discipline, and persistence. While academic excellence is an important component of success, particularly regarding acquiring relevant knowledge and skill, it is also important to realize that education alone does not guarantee success. Moving from being an information management officer to become the CEO of a top systems management company in the country cannot be attributed solely to strong G.P.A., a bachelor degree, or my MBA. However, these credentials played a significant role in getting an opportunity to work for my success. There may be a variety of theories by different inspiration speakers and mentors on what one needs to do to become successful. While most of what they recommend may be appropriate for different situations, I believe that the beginning of any success is built on a strong desire to excel that leads a person to invest time and resources in a career (Hill, 2001). When the strong desire for success develops to passion, it makes you seek the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue particular goals. The desire to excel in academic work is reflected in consistently improving grades and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Driving Across The Golden Gate Bridge Driving across the golden gate bridge is a sight to see. Well it is a site o see if you can see through the layers of thick fog and if your car sat up high enough you could see out over the bridge. The air was not freezing, but there was a chill in the breeze that gave me goose bumps. Driving down crooked roads, and eating the sourdough bread instead of the soup inside it are special memories. It was a few days in San Francisco last summer that gave me a love for somewhere other than home. Being the middle child, my parents have always taken the older sibling on trips and so when the opportunity came around for a trip. The time was 11:00 am. The date was June 3rd, and the destination was San Francisco. When we arrived at the airport and were waiting to get on the plane the time flew by; 3 hours felt like 30 minutes. I waited anxiously for the plane to take off and when it did, my stomach turned upside down. I knew there was no turning back now. We landed at the San Francisco airport, and my parents told me we got a rental car, and I got to pick it out. I chose a slick, deep red Chrysler; the idea of that car gave me a spring in my step. The first item for sightseeing was Alcatraz. It thrilled me. I had just spent three trimesters In AP History, and then I got to visit one of those historical places I had learned about. We had To ride a ferry to Alcatraz, but when we go off the ferry the vivid image of history was around me. Inside the basement of Alcatraz we were given ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Did The Atomic Bomb Change The World The Bombs That Changed The World On August 6th, 1945, the Japanese woke up to their hometowns and country filled with flames and radioactive material. This event changed warfare as we know it, and will forever have an effect on the Japanese and American culture. These two bombs, Little Boy and Fat Man, killed thousands of people and in total, took a huge toll on the world then and today. First, the bombs had a huge effect on the Japanese people, the countries that surrounded Japan such as Korea, and World War Two as a whole. The two bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Little Boy and Fat Man, killed at least 129,000 people in total. It ended up causing other issues, such as child birth defects and a boost in illness. In the year following the bombs dropped, 1946, there were an astounding 1900 deaths from cancer. This is said to come from the bombs radiation fallout. One good result that came from all the tragedy of the war, is that Japan ended up surrendering to the Allies. This was around the same time that Germany surrendered, so the allies took the win. ... There were more operations called like this one, they just never got called because Japan ended up surrendering. One operation, called Operation Olympic, was to invade Japan. • 7. Vulnificus Essay V. vulnificus causes disease in individuals who eat contaminated seafood or contaminating an open wound or even a tiny scratch with seawater containing the organism. Because of the high multiplication rate of the pathogen, wound infections may quickly progress to necrotizing fasciitis and even secondary septicemia (Bier et al. 2015a). Babolsar is a coastal city in Iran. This investigation was performed as the public awareness of the existence of the bacterium in the regions under study. Shaw et al. (Shaw et al. 2014) reported that V. vulnificus strains were detected from all sampling locations in Chesapeake Bay and Maryland Coastal Bays. The abundance of V. vulnificus in coastal water was strongly correlated to water temperature. The isolation of cultivable forms is limited to the warmest months. Maugeri TL et al reported that V. vulnificus was isolatd only when the water temperature was between 20 to 21.5°C (Maugeri et al. 2006). In the present study, the bacterium was isolated during the summer season (average water temperature of 25°C). It seems that this finding can show association of the cultivable forms on high water temperature. In the current research, V. vulnificus was not found in any samples obtained in the spring (average water temperature of 15°C). In the Gulf of Mexico V. vulnificus was not isolated when seawater temperatures were 14°C (Pfeffer et al. 2003).When the water temperatures reach to less than 13°C, V. vulnificus strains enter the VBNC state in which they are metabolically active but unable to reproduce on common culture media (Nowakowska and Oliver 2013, Wu et al. 2016). Backbone provides chiropractic services in four separate offices, in four small towns: Troy, Union, Vista and Willow. Chris is the main chiropractor in the Troy office, and Sue heads up the Vista office. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, Chris and Sue will not have to worry about any loss of profits since the profits of the new subsidiary corporation will flow through to the BackBone personal service corporation. Issue and Conclusion 2 How should the corporate reorganization be structured? The corporate reorganization should be structured as a divisive D reorganization and the restructuring process should conform to section 355 of the tax law in order to minimize the tax consequences of the reorganization. Law and Analysis 2 Section 368(a)(1) of the tax code provides several options for corporate reorganizations. Section 368(a)(1)(d), also known as a divisive D reorganization , is the best choice for this particular situation. In a divisive D reorganization, the controlling corporation (in this case, BackBone) will distribute assets (the Willow office) to a newly formed subsidiary corporation, in exchange for the stock of the new subsidiary corporation, in a transaction that qualifies under section 355 (Sec. 368(a)(1)(d)). After the transaction is complete, the Willow office will be its own corporation which is wholly (or at least mostly) owned by BackBone. BackBone will also still own and control the Troy, Union and Vista offices after the reorganization. Issue and Conclusion 3

  • 10. Women In Canada It is visible that the violence and discrimination experienced by Aboriginal women and girls in Canada is a national tragedy, which has sadly received meager attention in our nation. Native Women s Association of Canada (2013) explained how this has tragically led to the number of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada being excessively high. Systematic oppression and negligence from the Canadian Government to actively address this national tragedy were dominant themes that were illustrated by the absence of research and data available on this subject. Additionally, it was appalling to realize that no policies were established, but only politically charged strategies were recommended to confront this grave social problem. Dr. Ismael mentioned a critical point about how the absence of policies on missing and murdered Aboriginal women speaks volumes of the Canadian Government s priorities, which converges to our values as a nation. When a government neglects to establish policies to help eradicate a social issue, it sets an undertone on a national and international level to what and whom they perceive as valuable. As a result, I realized the absence of policies is a representation of wider social problems, which correlates to the blatant evidence of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. Nickel And Dimed Power Structures Essay Power Structures in Nickel and Dimed The United States prides itself on being a democracy in which equal opportunity and the pursuit of happiness are guaranteed rights for all citizens. There is no uncertainty in the loyalty that Americans have towards this promise of natural, unalienable rights. However, as Michael Foucault explains in Discipline and Punish, the power structures present in society infringe on our rights to equal opportunity and happiness by forcing us to abide by social norms and expectations. Using Barbara Ehrenreich s experience as a low wage worker in Nickel and Dimed as an example, it is clear that the power structure of observation that Foucault describes disciplines low wage workers to behave and live in a way society deems appropriate. In order to understand the power structures present in her description of life as a low wage worker in Nickel and Dimed, we need to first understand Michael Foucault s philosophy regarding discipline and surveillance. Rather than perceive power and discipline as strictly political and authoritative, Foucault believes that society is structured in a way in which constant observation disciplines us to abide by social norms and expectations. This constant surveillance is omnipresent in the sense that observation occurs in all realms of society, from education to sexuality. To further explain this idea of disciplining through constant inspection, Foucault describes Jeremy Bentham s panoptican, a type of prison in which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Image of the Big House as a Central Motif in The Real Charlotte The image of the big house has long been a central motif in Anglo Irish literature. From Maria Edgeworth s Castle Rackrent (1800), it has been a source of inspiration to many writers. One of the reason s for the surge in castle rackrents (a generic term employed by Charles Maturin) through the 19th and early 20th century, is that many writers who used the big house as a backdrop to their work were residents of such houses themselves writers such as Sommerville and Ross, George Moore and Elizabeth Bowen, were born into the ascendancy and wrote about an era and society with which they were familiar. However modern writers, such as Molly Keane and John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sommerville and Ross have not focused on the physical disintegration of the Big House in The Real Charlotte, but as they based the novel on their experiences as part of the Ascendancy, we can see the corrosion of the upper classes stature and power through characterization and setting. The driving force of all Big House fiction is the isolation of the Anglo Irish Ascendancy both physically and metaphorically. The country homes of the Ascendancy/landlords, were deemed Big Houses because of their grandeur and setting; they were huge in comparison to the cottiers mud cabins and labourers cottages of the Irish natives, thus were unrivalled in the countryside. Elizabeth Bowen accurately described their physical detachment from other social classes: with its stables and farm and gardens deep in trees at the end of long avenues is an island and, like an island, a world. [3] Their disconnection was deliberate as they generally only interacted with other gentry in the confines of their estates, and consequently their only contact with the native Irish was in their role as master and servant. Although these houses were built to inspire awe in social equals and deference in the lower classes, as Terence Dooley states, such deference in Ireland was: tinged with a sense of resentment because they were built on what most tenant farmers would deem to have been confiscated land. Conflict is a battle, fight, or struggle, and there are many ways that humans can respond to it. However, the most effective way to respond is by compromising. Throughout history, compromise has saved so many lives, and has kept peaceful relations between people. Even though war is a terrible thing, there are times when it is necessary to effectively settle disputes, as shown by Elie Wiesel, who survived a concentration camp, and Winston Churchill, who was struggling to defeat Nazi Germany. Overall, compromise is the most effective way to respond to conflict. There are multiple examples throughout history where conflict has had a better effect than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the battlefield, soldiers are hurt and killed every day. But, according to the Science Museum, Soldiers not only suffered on the battlefield. Veterans often needed long term care owing to the physical and psychological impact of war. Especially in the Vietnam War, since the soldiers were constantly being attacked, but couldn t see their enemy. This messed with their minds, and the ones still alive today have never been the same since they got back from Vietnam. War not only has negative effects on soldiers, but also on the townspeople who live near war. The Science Museum also writes, Civilians, particularly children, can also suffer the effects of trauma. Civilians don t only have the constant fear of the war getting too close to them, but also the fear of bombs and harmful chemicals. Again, in the Vietnam War, US forces used a chemical called agent orange to destroy the foliage of forests so they could see their enemy better. This, though, has had a long term effect on everyone who was exposed to the chemical by giving them radiation poisoning, or in some cases, cancer. Paul McCartney felt comfortable playing with him, later joining Lennon s band, the Quarrymen. By the early 60s, the band had changed their name to a new nickname, The Beatles. The band included George Harrison, Richard Starkey and Stuart Sutcliffe. These musicians soon to be world famous started playing in Hamburg, Germany, spending a couple of years playing at multiple pubs there. Stuart left the band early, leaving Paul to pick up the bass becoming the new bass player. During their stay in Hamburg, the Beatles recorded their first songs, acquiring the attention of Brian Epstein, who rapidly signed on as the Beatle s manager. Pete Best was replaced by drummer Ringo Starr who only helped the group gain attention. The effect that the Beatles would have on 60s music popular culture is difficult to exaggerate. Beatlemania soon struck the world and mainstream media, and when the band made their debut in the USA, the media mixed the period of musical crossover between the two nations the British Invasion. This album released in 1994, sold only modestly but was warmly received by critics (Simon and Schuster, 2001), and gained Buckley immense respect as an artist. His song Lover, you should ve come over was evidence that Buckley was a talented artist who was not only an excellent performer but an excellent songwriter who could craft melodies and words as well. Lover is essentially a soul ballad (Beviglia, 2014), with moments of intensity and moments of release as well. Supporters of it say that this is a significant step forward, since there is no company that can refuse a person in the insurance policy. However, opponents believe that this reform will only worsen the condition of the Americans. The current health care reform has its drawbacks, such as increased fees for insurance, and the impossibility of choice, therefore, it is necessary for change. Body The first problem faced by the Americans after the health care reform entered into force, is the growth of insurance fees. Insurance companies, in order to protect themselves from the increased risk of payment for the treatment of their clients, have raised fees for their services. Therefore, many healthy citizens were against this law because they did not want to take payment for the increased risk of insurance companies. Dracula And The Female Sexuallity As Disease Dracula and Carmilla Female Sexuallity as Disease In the two classic gothic vampire tales, Carmilla and Dracula, both novels have similarities through their displays of sexuality. Sexuallity isn t just displaying sexual intentions towards other people. The two novels explore how vampirism represents female sexuality as a disease through different means. In Carmilla, the character of Carmilla s vampirism is linked with disease because she has bitten Laura, one of her many victims, and fed off of her. Through Carmilla s action of biting Laura and displaying deep affection for her, Carmilla s female sexuality was linked to a disease. This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude. Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story and feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern setting becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the residents of rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and moral, and that becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are portrayed. Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the stereotypical nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this demeanor. Even though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the case, she maintains this even tempered friendly attitude. This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with the sinister things that are taking place around her. Essay on Ducati Case Study February 1, 2014 Introduction: Being a motorcycle company that produces high performance, highly successful racing motorcycles, as well as motorcycles for the commercial market, has proven to be a winning strategy for Ducati. This case focuses on Ducati Corse, a subsidiary of Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A. that manages racing teams, bike development, promotions, and sponsorship areas of the company. Ducati Corse is a relatively small organization that encourages cross departmental integration with its internal teams to achieve the best motorcycle design and racing outcomes as possible. Ducati started racing in the new MotoGP Circuit during the 2003 race season. With unexpected positive racing results, Ducati took the data collected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ducati s success was a combination of Ducati engineers passion for their work, their detailed attention to the design process, and a well defined, developed method called the Ducati Method. The Ducati Method helped lead to modular design via extensive use of CAD and simulation technology to optimize the design before physically developing the components followed by intense testing to validate the design. Question 2: How did Ducati use data? Processing, interpreting, and using real time data is a complex task which the Ducati engineers employed with the help of other departments. They utilized rider feedback from the races, videos of each race, track tests, data on race performance, and functional data acquired by on bike sensors. Ducati used the data from the track to identify problems that could not be detected in simulation. This type of data is excellent for measuring relative performance, evaluating structural stress loads, drivetrain torque, and system temperatures. However, it can be greatly influenced by the driver and environmental conditions. Data of this volume proved difficult to sift through, and additional staffers were hired to tackle it for the 2004 season. Question 3: What is your assessment of their approach? We feel that Ducati s approach was ineffective due to the lack of a structured plan with clear priorities. Ducati Corse tried to solve more problems than they were able, which seemed to result in missed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Noah 40 Shebib produced this track featured on Drake s third studio album Nothing Was the Same that was recorded in Toronto and released in 2013. Tuscan Leather heavily samples I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston and When Seasons Change (live) by Curtis Mayfield. The background vocals were sung by American rapper Cappadonna. • 40. Racing Flat Research Paper The Preferred Choice Fast times are the key to success in the world of running. When it comes to race day attire you have two real options that will give you an advantage over someone wearing a normal training shoe. These are a racing flat and a spike. A racing flat has the ability to support an athlete on uneven terrain and provide them cushioning on hard surfaces making them incredibly versatile. Also a racing flat is more than capable of being worn for races as long as a marathon while being light enough to give you great increases in performance. Finally The available cushion and natural range of motion that a racing flat provides tends to cause less injury in athletes than in a spike. Because of the reasons listed, a racing flat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be supported by, A study published in a 2012 issue of the Journal of the American College of Sports notes that people who run in barefoot or with minimalist shoes such as racing flats instinctively land toward the ball of the foot. This reduces the risk of injury, which is more prevalent for those who land on the heel (Yemi 1). This is a clear fact that has been supported by numerous studies. The nature of a racing flat allows your foot to go through a more natural motion while running. This reduces injury. Another factor that makes a racing flat good at reducing injury is that it still has sufficient cushioning. Also in the study conducted by the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine they say that In this study, the amplified loading rate, stiffness, and peak vertical impact force demonstrate that running spikes and flats produced a greater external force on the body. The initial impact force between the foot and the ground is directly transmitted to the leg and can potentially be an influential factor in injury risk (logan, Hunter, and Hopkins 6). The cushioning as mentioned previously is light enough to give an athlete better performance while still substantial enough to protect the runner from some of this initial shock of running on a hard surface such as a track. The flight is around 2300 nautical miles (4300km) and in the Airbus A320 travelling at approximately 430kt (800km/hr) it will take five hours and twenty minutes. ITCZ: This flight travels straight through the Inter Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). This is a belt of low pressure where the northeast and southeast tradewinds meet, pushing air upwards. It is situated around the equator but moves seasonally following the suns zenith point. The ITCZ appears as a belt of clouds, which is responsible for the wet and dry season in the tropics. This area is also known for its strong convective weather. Any aircrew that is travelling through this region needs to be aware of the conditions associated with ITCZ and the relative tradewinds as it can jeopardize the safety of the aircraft. An active ITCZ has strong tradewinds causing solid lines of active Cumulonimbus (Cb) with other types of clouds at higher levels. Due to the instability and predominantly vertical movement of air the cloud development can be extreme with the tops reaching up to 55,000ft and can be some 300nm wide. At this scale it is hard to avoid the clouds and determining whether the ITCZ is in an active or inactive stage is hard as they develop and decay reasonably quickly. Also, within 1984 lies a warning from Orwell: to eliminate the caustic consequences of a communist government. The state is responsible for the organization and direction of the economic life of the country, in accordance with a central social and economic development plan , (Gale Research group, 1998). Orwell knew this and talked about it quite a bit in his novel, which established logos; he knew that installing fear within the minds of the citizens he watched over would lead, whether they wanted it or not, to their safety. Relationship Between Child Support And Child Relationship Parent to Child Relationship Analyzed by Child Support and Disconnection I am writing about the topic of how child support can affect the relationship a parent feels towards their child. In a sense that it can make the parent feel as if the child is an expense. As something they have to constantly keep up with like a phone bill or water bill. I chose this topic because I feel that there is a disconnection between parents that are required to pay child support toward their child. Those parents paying child support in most instances are only allowed to see their child for a certain period of time. That being a weekend or every other weekend. If not at all in the most extreme cases. This disconnection in turn can lead to a broken relationship between the parent and the child. The parent is seen as a negative figure by the child whereas the parent sees the child as an expense. Which can lead to other negative impacts between the family. The parent with full custody or majority custody is a better able to raise the child and instill negative feelings about the other parent into the child. What is significant and interesting about this particular field of inquiry that this is constantly happening in modern time. As seen through high levels of divorce, custody battles, and parents that are required to pay child support on a monthly basis. At times the other parent with majority custody can even be better off as they are receiving another check while the parent required to pay child support is at times struggling to get by. Needless to say that the parent required to pay child support is at fault and put themselves in the situation in the first place. The challenges I expect to face while researching are unscholarly resources in which frustrated parents post on online websites. Even though these experiences may be first hand insights they are most likely posted to unscholarly websites which cannot be used for this essay. A possible thesis is, child support leads to a broken relationship between a parent and a child with the cause of future disconnection.
