Electronic Commerce
Electronic Wallets are Secure
Introduction
The idea for paying for goods and services electronically is not a new one. The search for more
efficient ways of doing business is now driving another revolution in the conduct of business and in
our concept of money. This revolution is known as electronic commerce, which is the symbiotic
integration of communications, data management, and security capabilities to allow business
applications within different organizations to automatically exchange information related to the
sale of goods and services. With the advent of the electronic age the concept of value was
transferred to plastic cards with a magnetic stripe which securely carried personal account
information. These cards are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the number of people utilizing the internet increases, the risk of security violations increases
with it. It is true that sometimes the cost of protecting the network outweighs the cost of just
leaving it unprotected, but it is undeniable that the cost of protecting the network becomes
nontrivial as more services such as electronic wallets become available. Some of the threats that
stimulated the upsurge for people with the lack of security were compromise of clients financial
details (credit card numbers, etc) which may result in the unauthorized transfer of funds,
development of a method of obtaining the goods or services without making the appropriate
payment and other methods permitting the unauthorized transfer of funds. Regardless of how a
payments system is constructed these attacks are always more or less practical although some
techniques can virtually eliminate the risk of one or another.
The major reason electronic wallets has not yet taken off to its full potential is because, until
recently, there has not been a readily available, widely deployed foolproof way of preventing fraud
and theft of sensitive financial information.
Implementing security involves assessing the possible threats to one s network, servers and
information. The goal would be to then attempt to minimize the threat as much as possible without
making it difficult for legitimate users to access the information.

Prescriptive English Essay
Linguists and other scholars who study language do not take prescriptive grammar rules
seriously. To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than
correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there
are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well.
There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of
what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an
implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of
speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is
understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom?
which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I
use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be
understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why
should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a
person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should
say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for
example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing

Letter To Communism
Dear, Editor of the Los Angeles Times,
Good Afternoon, let me formally introduce myself. I am the set designer for the Hollywood movie
production company that you may be very aware of. I am reaching out as I have a few conferences
revolving around the actions of communists that have been acknowledged around Hollywood that
have been confirmed by Mr. Senator Joseph McCarthy. I do not know if you are aware but many
Actors, good Actors with that being said are losing their jobs and it s costing the production loss of
money. This hunt needs to be settled in a proper manly matter and needs to be stopped. We all
know that Communism is presented and viewed socially. Everyone has different initiatives as well

McCarthyism looks like he has had a fear of the situation revolving the red scare. The red scare
went above and beyond and lead communists to a position that people really didn t think it was
ever going to be possible to reach. Mr. McCarthy is a senator that started taking actions of his
own to go ahead and look for United States citizens that were supporting and cheering on the
communist for his benefit. The red scare was already a big time situation that had everyone on
their feet scared of different possible outcomes within our own society. McCarthy will only be
making our society more terrified and not going the right path. McCarthy started his journey to
find these U.S Citizen that said were communist through the department of state. While getting
in their mission was to go for bigger groups and wanted to target the military. Once he saw and
realized that his mission can possibly fail, he decided to target Hollywood movie companies. By
doing so, he boycott a few famous actors which was later known to the public as Black
Hollywood List. He targeted actors as well as productions and writers. McCarthy then created
another Black Hollywood list that promoted ten famous actors which he believed were
communist which made more publication and talk. This led to famous Hollywood actors to lose
their jobs and positions on roles with production companies. These actors became the actual
target which led to the end of their acting careers.Mr. McCarthy went against many amendments
of this country. This whole time his focus has been to force innocent people into helping him
find different communist for no positive result. He obviously does not have the support of the
group of people he left jobless including the middle and needy class. He continues to do wrong acts
that are only being supported by the rich. He needs to be stopped in order for us to be able to not

Essay about Let s Stand Up for Liberty
Who is Robyn Blumner? Perhaps she is simply your everyday editorialist for a daily newspaper.
Or, as the former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU),
could she possibly have her own agenda? One of Blumner s columns entitled Let s stand up for
liberty was published in a well known editorial writers magazine called The Masthead . In
summary, it focuses on freedom of speech, and how we tend to lose sight of it, or even have it taken
from us during national hardships. She feels that the government tends to deny us of these
freedoms when we need them the most, during war. Blumner sturdily supports her claims
throughout the course of her column. However, does the fact that she was once affiliated with the...

Blumner claims during World War I, few editorial boards stood up for civil liberties
. Instead, they
chose to reflect the xenophobic [anti immigrant] views of their readership [par.16]. In support,
she quotes from a professor of journalism, Joseph McKerns, to back her statement. McKerns
asserts foreigners were the ones portrayed as a threat rather than merely exercising free speech
[par.18]. He also alleges the daily press made a convenient separation, seeing the speech of the
political activist as different from what it did [par.17]. By accentuating her interest of immigrant s
rights, could it be she is supporting yet again, her past organization?
Where do her priorities lie? So far we have identified her support of national freedom and
immigrant s rights. Throughout the course of the article she also defends the rights of Japanese
Americans, German Americans, and defends publishers that were prosecuted for violating the
Espionage Act in wartime history. She may have valid claims, but she is still being biased. What
about the natives of Iraq that gained liberties from the capture of Saddam Hussein? War doesn t
always have viewed negatively. Apparently she was respected enough to be published. However, a
little background on The Masthead is nothing more than an opinion writing magazine. Does this
make her credible? I think not!
In the beginning I was compelled by her article. It truly made me

Winston Churchill Leadership
Oftentimes, the best leaders are those who are willing to step up and face the daunting tasks that
no one else will. As Prime Minister of England during World War II, Winston Churchill s
leadership left a permanent mark upon history. Many believe that without him, the Allies would
have lost the war. In the words of John C. Maxwell, Leaders become great not because of their
power, but because of their ability to empower others. Churchill prided himself in having courage
in all things and possessed the unique ability to provide others with courage also. He led the British
empirethrough battle after battle tirelessly, saying, Continuous effort not strength or intelligence is
the key to unlocking our potential. To him, there was no use saying we are doing our best. You
have got to succeed in doing what is necessary. Although it was almost certain that Britain would
lose World War II, Churchill provided the willpower needed to stand against Germany and
engendered a motivated and hardworking government, as well as an inspired nation.
Winston Churchill s headstrong resiliency in the face of danger defined his career as a war
leader. Former Prime Minister David Cameron states, He was an incredible leader for our country,
and indeed for the whole free world, at an impossibly difficult time. (1). Five months before his
inauguration, Churchill gave his speech House of Many Mansions wherein he urged the then Prime
Minister Neville Chamberlain and other world

Analyzing The Concept Of Zeta Score And The Details It...
1.Expound on credit analysis. Use the concept of zeta score and the details it includes?
Credit analysis is the process by which financial institutions examine the creditability, credit history
and financial situation of a client or potential borrowers. No bank or moneylender would wish to
jeopardize their money, therefore necessitating this process. At the same time, for bondportfolio
managers or investors to debt issuing companies, the basis of their credit rating and financial
situations also need to be established. The process of investigation to get this information also
defines credit analysis. Credit rating is an important instrument used by lenders when performing

It makes the issuer want to retrieve the bonds before the expiry of the allocated time so as to
resell them at lower interest rates. The issuer reserves the right to return investors principal and
stop interest payment before the maturity of bonds, of course at a higher rate than what the bond
was sold at. Due to this reason, the duration is not applicable to callable bonds.
Similar to this, duration has no applicability in the case of common stocks and real estate. It is
because a common stock is the subject of high risk due to fluctuations in prices. In the event of
stocks, investors will tend to sell stocks any time when their price is higher than prices on the date
of acquisition. The investment in stocks and real estate is made to gain higher returns whenever
their prices increase. Due to this reason, period or maturity term is not applicable in common
stocks and real estate, since their disposal is heavily pegged on the market prices.
b) Describe the way duration is used and how it is adjusted with convexity? The most popular way
in which duration is employed by the investors is to measure the volatility of the bond or any other
financial security. As time progresses, stock prices and yields fluctuate and in most cases, this
fluctuation was not foreseen. Due to this reason, investors usually select a specified period to
measure the performance of securities, which is significant identifying the level of risk associated

Emily Dickinson And Death
The Death in Emily Dickinson Like many poets, Emily Dickinson explored the themes of death,
leading to the answers of so many questions, in which she was concerned herself. Her poetry
frequently clarifies her reaction as to why she wrote about death. However, her treatment of death
is unique: Because I could not stop for DeathHe kindly stopped for me (577). Dickinson expresses
herself being able to accept death as an old friend rather than a force of nature. With many of her
poems, Dickinson elaborates and questions death being incorporated in daily lives as well as the
mysterious life leading after it. Among the understanding of her views of death, numerous people
become frightened as if it were some creature prowling behind something ready to take them at
any second. Death has been stated frequently throughout her poems, each one composed of
frustration, suffering, pain, sorrow, grief, and loneliness. Death is a common theme in her
writing. The obsession Dickinson made of death of darkness, Or rather He passed Us The Dews
drew quivering and chill (577). She describes death from all imaginable characteristics as the
polite lover, the physical corruptor, and the alarming killer. Dickinson s views on immortality were
a problem that was accepted as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Death is a lurking event that is shadowing everyone, but Dickinson sees it as an opportunity to
deal with it. I believe that death is going to happen at any moment, but find it unsettling to be able
to talk about death as if it would happen shortly. I think Dickinson is impractical to believe that
death is just an entity to love; rather it should be something to fear of. She may agree on the fact
that death is a gruesome conclusion, but I feel that we shouldn t just acknowledge it to occur, rather
wait for the outcome

Video Games And Its Effects On The Media
Introduction
Many studies suggest that violent video games contribute to the aggressions of video games
players. Today over 85% of video games contained violence, and the rest have explicit content like
sex, drugs, and disregard to human life (Carnagey, Anderson, Bushman, 2007). Someone who is
new to video games is exposing themselves to violence, and for many the general concern comes
from being influence from such games. For example, video games first influence school shooting
that first started in West Paducah, Kentucky in 1997, Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1998, Springfield,
Oregon in 1998, etc. Making by example the violent nature of video games (Anderson, 2004). That

Although the research literature on violent video games is a recent phenomenon, there s has been
little funding for such research (Anderson, 2004). Also taking into account a meta analysis of
published and unpublished studies reveal they may be some levels of bias between video games
and violence than disconfirming studies (Decamp, 2015). The negative views the public has of
video games has increased the connotation that violent video games act as murder simulators, or
that games are gateways for young children to learn to kill. Linking this medium to deadly assaults,
and criminalizing the youth (Markey, Markey, French, 2015). One method game researchers use to
overcome the limitations of past research is by using PSM (propensity score matching) a statistical
method use to estimate the outcomes of a treatment. The results show the comparison of violent
video games effects with environmental effects, and social risks. The relationship between the
player and their family helps evaluates these behaviors such as violence in home, school, parental
attachment, and close supervision (Decamp, 2015).
In 1972 the Surgeon General issue a warning that correlates the relationship between media violence
and antisocial behavior, and that it requires immediate action. During the past when video games
were first introduced, researcher s studied the relationship between violent media and aggression.

Speech On The Truman Doctrine
It should be noted that Truman s doctrine, proclaimed in his speech to Congress, did not initially
imply a world scale. The speech begins with a description of the situation of Greece and Turkey,
which suffer political oppression from terrorist groups and Communists.
Then Truman explains that the UK is no longer able to provide Greece with financial assistance.
Truman talks about US support for the United Nations (in particular, support for the goals of
freedom and independence of all members of the world community), which, in his view, can not be
realized without Helping free people in maintaining their free institutions and their national integrity
against aggressive movements that seek to impose a totalitarian regime on them. Truman says ...

The unclear, ambiguous character of speech will acquire an increasingly broad interpretation. For
example, DF Fleming, a supporter of the revisionist school of international relations (the proponents
of this school blame the beginning of the Cold War on the US), says that Truman s doctrine gave
America the rationale to control the world wherever and whenever. Everything including the
language of the Truman Doctrine made from an isolationist America that wanted to be left alone, a
world policeman
Hans Morgenthau in his book The New US Foreign Policy talks about the changes that the Truman
doctrine has undergone over the course of time.
The Truman Doctrine has transformed the US s particular interest in a geographically delineated
part of the world into a moral principle of a global scale that could be applied despite the limits of
American interests and American power.
Thus, the doctrine of Truman, proclaimed by him in his speech before the Congress on March 12,
1947, spoke about the global role of the United States, the responsibility of the United States for the
world order, the need to protect free peoples from any external pressure and under pressure from the
outside, of course, understood the

Characteristics Of Ngo Dinh Diem
Ngo Dinh Diem was a man who had been described by many different titles. This was due to the
many decisions he made in order to advance in his political career. There is evidence which proves

The Care Of A Patient
Within this case study I am going to use two of the Chapelhow et al. (2005) enablers to discuss
and reflect on the care of a patient I have been involved with on placement over a period of 5
weeks. Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert
professional practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication,
documentation, risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work
together to provide a holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. I am going to
focus on and discuss two of the enablers, linking them both together, which will be assessment and
communication as I believe these two enablers can be related most to my patient. I have gained
full consent to use this lady as my patient in my care study. Consent is important as you must
always gain permission from the patient in regards to their care plan and keep them fully informed.
It is vital that the person consents before any treatment, care, examination or assessment (Brooker
et al., 2007, p.157). Confidentiality is a fundamental part of professional practice that protects
human rights (NMC, 2008). To maintain my patient s confidentiality throughout my care study I

Baderman Island Expansion
Several methods of expanding a company exist. The Baderman Island resort is looking into
different options to expand their operations. This paper will explore the subject of the three main
options; acquiring another organization in the same industry, going public through an Initial Public
Offering (IPO), and merging with another organization. Additionally, it will provide analysis of the
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of each option. Finally, it will provide a
recommendation regarding which would be the best option for Baderman Island Resort to use to
expand its operations.

Baderman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A SWOT analysis of using a merger to expand operations follows. A strength from performing a
merger is the ability to acquire a company s unused debt. Some firms simply do not exhaust their
debt capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then
increase debt financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown,
2005, pp. 23 4). Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective
management strategy or team. Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the
merged company, and who is out the door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the
problem the organization has not evaluated for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can
result in an increase in market or monopoly power. Although this can result in increased wealth, it
may also be illegal. The Clayton Act, as amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950,
makes any merger illegal that results in a monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The
Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do
not result in a reduction of competition (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4).
Weaknesses of a merger for Baderman Island are the many distractions that rise to the surface.
Employees may show concern with the future of his or her employment, rather than concentrating
on the job at hand, thus causing lower production and quality control.

Limitations Of Racist Speech
Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts
When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free
speech. Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more
obvious limits such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space
make sense because it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important
in order to ensure a safe and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it
becomes difficult to determine what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment.
After all, when negative and hurtful opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes
hard to see how protecting them could be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that
when sharing these views becomes harmful and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under
the first amendment. However, everyone sees things differently, so drawing the line between
what is just offensive and harassment needs to be determined and treated on a case by case basis.
This will not only allow us to come to a solution for these individual problems, but it leaves room
for discussion which will help to combat the root cause of prejudice.
While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution
would be to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic.
Banning specific opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when
people are permitted to share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more
potential benefit than harm. This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is
doing something we disagree with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want
to continue to reap the benefits, we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech,
thus protected under the first amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech
should be unregulated; there are regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the
government shouldn t and isn t responsible for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is
a local

and is something which he shouldn t be even thinking about. Macbeth also considers that King
Duncan is at his house in double trust. Firstly because I am his kinsman and his subject, Strong
both against the deed; (Lines 13 14) and secondly because then, as his host, who should against

being king is great, yet he does consider the reasons why he should leave things as it is, and this

Additionally King Duncan has been a good King that is well liked by everyone, and Macbeth

Reality Is Seemingly Through Reality Essay
What we believe to be impossible to be achieved through reality is often projected in the
unconscious. Freud theorized that our minds repressed desires that could summon emotions such
as guilt or shame, which could lead to what is called wish fulfillment through dreams,
hallucinations, or phases of neurosis. Experiences of intense dreamsequences that involve sexual
relations with family members, or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of
wish fulfillment dreams. Said dreams represent taboos or actions that could result in extreme
consequences in reality, so instead, the impulses or yearnings are satisfied within the unconscious
where only the individual can truly gain access to. To Freud, the mindwas a part of us suffering from
chronic turmoil, with the ego and the superego constantly at war with the ID, where impulses rest.
When my dream occurred, the contents, while shocking, did not come as a surprise to me.
During that period, my father had been absent from my life for the most part, causing much
distress from my family as a whole. I had to withdraw from a university I got accepted into
because of financial difficulties, and also pushed back attending community college to work as a

Fee Simple Research Paper
Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an
estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then
the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition
subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a
condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use
being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later
the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back.
The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible
/ qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee
simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Synonyms: fee simple qualified Antonyms: fee

There are two types of overall estates, freehold estates which are owned and less than freehold

Public Transportation In Alameda County
Introduction Alameda County resides in the East Bay of California and is the fourth most
racially diverse county in the United States (Narula, 2014). It comprises of 14 suburban cities
and several unincorporated communities with an overall population of 1,610,921 and more than
12% of adults are 65+ years old (175,320). Due to geographic isolation between some of the cities
and a growing population, public transportation is a concern for the county and its stakeholders,
especially in regards to the seniors and the disabled. The following pages will analyze the
transporation dilemma for this population, the differences between some of the services provided,

They put money in a general fund ( which came from property taxes) of up to $400,000 to

1970 s, Pleasanton was a trail blazer for transportation for seniors and the disabled. The city
council was quite progressive in their thinking about seniors and made this a top priority (Deaton,

seniors. They had extremely limited transportation and after about 5 6 years, the city of Pleasanton
stepped in and funded the transportation for seniors. In the 1990 s ADA mandates made it
necessary to have comparable transportation for everyone so they excepted the Federal Funds and
became ADA compliant. The federal funds helped pay for LAVTA ( Livermore Amador Valley
Transit Authority) which was an ADA provider that serviced three cities but Pleasanton still ran

Diapers Lab Report
Purpose:
The purpose of this experiment was to figure out which brand of diapers has the highest
absorbency, out of Huggies, Pamper and the no name brand.
Hypothesis:
I believe that the Huggies diaper will be the best overall. I believe this because; it is the most
expensive, most inflated, and is the densest. The structure also seemed to have the ability to hold
more fluid compared to the others, this made it very reliable.
Materials:
~Three (or more if you wish) brands of diapers *We used Huggies, Pampers, and the no name brand.
~Writing utensils
~Water *We used approximately 1L
~Food colouring (optional) *We used different colours for each trail.

~Huggies became heavy; but kept the water in even after we squeezed it.
NO NAME
~First interval, absorbed surprisingly fast.
~2nd driest from the bottoms.
~Didn t collect as much at the side compared to the other two.
~When we squeezed it, it held up pretty well. Conclusion:
The purpose of the experiment was to determine which brand of diapers has the highest
absorbency, out of Huggies, Pamper and the No Name brand. Our experiment was simple. It
consisted of three different trials; in each, we changed a variable. In the first trail, we poured the
60mL through three interval, we let the 20mL sit for two minutes, between the sections. During the
second trial, we poured the whole 60mL at one. Finally, in the last trial we poured three segments
of 80mL, waiting about 30 second to 70 second in between. I found it interest that how big of an
impact the little change made. The speed of absorbency was most interesting to me. For

Organizational Redesign Essay
Organizational redesign is a process that every business will have to perform to maintain or
increase their efficiency or to maintain their competitive level with their peers. Unfortunately,
most employees will view redesign as a threat to the norm or maybe even their jobs. On the other
hand, other stakeholders will find that it is a necessity due to the ever changing outside
influences such as advances in technology and internal changes such as a paradigm shift. Ummel
(1994) states that redesign is not the same as reorganization or restructuring which are typically
motivated by financial recovery plans (Ummel, 1994). Organizational redesign is an open,
creative effort to further integrate itself by simplifying and altering its shape (Ummel, 1994). One
of the best ways for employees to protect themselves from any negative actions such as a layoff or
reduction in force is to know which transferrable skills are required or looked upon as favorable by
the employer. The more transferrable skills an employee possesses, the more attractive they will
appear to management. To add, if by the unfortunate chance that a person becomes unemployed,
their skills will assist in them obtaining new employment.
We are all born with skills we take from job to job (Issacs, 2017). There are several categories of
transferrable skills that will best assist in organizational redesign. Transferrable skills can be
categorized as:
1.Technical
2.Communication
3.Client Customer

The King s Great Matter
The Spanish English marriage alliance of Catherine of Aragon and Prince Arthur was arranged
when the children were very young. Catherine traveled to England only to face tragedy when her
young husband, Arthur died in 1502.Henry VII wanted to marry Catherine to his younger son,
who would be, Henry VIII so that he did not lose the dowry money from Catherine s parents and

Throughout this time period, Cardinal Wolsey, an advisor to Henry and very powerful in the
Catholic Church, moved closer and closer to Henry. As the relationship progressed Henry became
more distant to Catherine. Wolsey spied on Catherine and she thought he acted against her
always. She began to believe that Wolsey had always hated her and possibly that she had always
hated him also. She held him responsible for the promotion of Henry s bastard son, for tempting
the King of France to break the word agreed at Madrid and plunging Europe into war, for ruining
the alliance between the two countries, and for seducing the pope and the Italian states. She also
held Wolsey responsible for Henry s irritability.
It isn t surprising that Catherine also blamed Wolsey for Henry wanting to divorce her. But,
Catherine was not the only one with this idea. The ambassador, the emperor, Reginald Pole,
Catholic controversialists, and Catholic writers ever since have agreed that Wolsey was
probably the instigator. Catherine s thought that Wolsey had put the ideas of divorce into Henry

Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka
Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz
Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a
gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor
s mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal
metamorphosis, Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to
treating him with hatred, disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is
Magical Realism, Really? , he defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining
magical and ordinary elements. Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The
Metamorphosisshould be categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and
realistic elements and uses repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other
magical realism works such as Axolotl by Julio CortГЎzar and A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with
imaginary elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has
huge buzzard wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The
wings are clearly magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic
element. This entanglement between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device
found in magical realism. Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s
insect body, and realistic elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of
The Metamorphosis under the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant
dreams in the beginning of the story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect
(89). This is clearly a magical element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an
insect in one night (or any amount of time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes,
his regular human bedroom remains the same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s
surroundings, such as his

What Does Zeena Symbolize In Ethan Frome
Magic Mirror, on the wall, who is the fairest one of all? the Evil Queen inquiries (1). In the novella
Ethan Frome, Mattie Silver (Snow White) surpasses the beauty of every living organism in
Starkfield. Zenobia Frome correlates herself with the Evil Queen. Furthermore, Zeena, a
hypochondriac in the eyes of Ethan Frome, is used as a foil for Mattie Silver. In the dark and
gloomy tale of Ethan Frome, the story emerges as an inverted fairytale. The fairy maiden
anthropomorphizes into a greater evil than the Evil Queen, herself. Snow White was known for her
pale skin, red lips, and her beautiful voice. Alike Snow White, Edith Wharton sedulously
attaches red and light with Mattie Silver, symbolizing her with a red scarf. Ethan Frome and
Zeena are associated with dark and grim colors blending in with their haggard surroundings.
Ethan is in awe when he sees Mattie, his silver lining. Zeena envies Mattie indirectly in the story
and goes out of her way to make her seem like a horrendous person. Moreover, Zeena emerges as
the powerful Evil Queen in Ethan Frome that successfully wins. Thus, in Ethan Frome, Edith
Wharton taints the classic fairytale to become a disastrous tragedy of two lovers. Undoubtedly,
Wharton exemplifies Zeena s rigid and haggard physical appearance to portray the Evil Queen in
Ethan Frome. Edith paints the picture of a sallow complexioned and old at thirty five Zeena Frome,
accentuating her high protruding cheekbones, lashless lids over piercing

Death Penalty Should Be Legal
Do you think that death penalty will give justice for the innocent lives? The death penalty
continues to be an issue of controversy in the whole world because people have different beliefs
for giving justice to the innocents. For some people, they want it legal because death penalty
will give justice for the innocent victims and a form of vengeance to the criminals. On the
flipside, other people don t agree with it because a lot of innocents are putting into death. These
people believe that it is better to put the criminal into jail without a parole unless there is a proof
that he or she is innocent instead of removing the human rights of the criminal to live and have a
chance to change his or her life. Although some people think that death penalty should be legal, I
believe it should not be legal. Some people believed that killing the murderers would keep more
innocent victims safe and alive. For instance, the case of Tim Mcveigh who was executed by
killing the 168 people in the Oklahoma City bombing, or John Wayne Gacy who was committed
33 murders. If they were still alive, we wouldn t know what would happen next. They might kill
more people. However, we are still killing more people and innocent lives. In fact, the authors of the
Rate of False Conviction of Criminal Defendants Who are Sentenced to Death, stated that A

Database Systems From The Point Of View Of The Architecture
2.9 CLIENT/SERVER ARCHITECTURE
So far in this chapter we have been discussing database systems from the point of view of the
architecture in Fig. 2.3. In this section we offer a slightly different perspective on the subject.
The overall purpose of a database system is to support the development and execution of database
application. From a high level point of view, therefore, such a system can be regarded as having
a very simple two part structure, consisting of a server, also called the back end, and a set of
clients, also called the front end (refer to Fig. 2.5). Explanation:
1.The server is just the DBMS itself. It supports all of the basic DBMS functions discussed in
Section 2.8 data definition, data manipulation, data security and integrity, and so on. In other
words, server in this context is just another name for the DBMS.
2.The clients are the various applications that run on top of the DBMS both user written
applications and built in application (i.e., applications provided by the DBMS vendors or some
third party). As far as the server is concerned, of course, there is no difference between user written
and built in applications; they all use the same interface to the server namely, the external level
interface discussed in Section 2.3. (We note as an aside that, as mentioned in Section 2.5, certain
special utility applications might constitute an exception to the fore going, inasmuch as they might
sometimes need to operate directly at the internal level of

Essay On Raw Gley Soil
The Main Soil Types of the UK
Terrestrial Raw Soils
These are soils consisting predominantly of unaltered mineral material that have no surface/sub
surface horizon attributed to soil forming processes (unless buried under a 730cm thick deposit
from the Holocene) (Avery, 1980;). These soils do not normally have continuous vegetation cover
(Avery, 1980). They occur in very recently formed soiland may have a superficial organic or
organo mineral layer less than 5cm thick. Sometimes they have a buried horizon below 30cm of
depth. (Thompson, 2007; Jarvis, 1984).
Raw Gley Soils
Raw gley soils are found within mineral material that has remained waterlogged since deposition
(Thompson, 2007). The soils are missing a distinctive top soil and contain gleyed subsurface
horizons (Avery, 1980). They also contain a mineral horizon which starts at 20cm and extends
below 30cm (Avery, 1980). Jarvis (1984) also states that the soils are distinctly mottled above
40cm depth. Raw gley soil types are mostly confined to intertidal flats (Avery, 1980) or areas that
represent various stages in the development of salt marshes (Thompson, 2007).
Lithomorphic Soils
Contain a distinctive top soil that is humose or peaty and a substratum starting at 40cm in depth
which has been altered little (Avery, 1980; Buol, 1997). The soils do not contain a disturbed
surface layer, the B horizon is not podzolic, weathered or argillic (Avery, 1980; Buol, 1997) and the
soil profile is shallow (Ashman Puri, 2002).

Influential Ideas For Protestant Theology
John Calvin was the son of bourgeois parents in Picardy, France (Brophy, 431). First, he studied
at the University of Paris to obtain a Master of the Arts degree, and then he went on to study law
at OrlГ©ans, where he received a doctorate of law (Brophy, 431). When he converted to
Protestantism he was forced to flee Paris and eventually ended up in Geneva, Switzerland, where
he wrote his Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances, along with many other significant writings (Brophy,
432). This document is a primary source because John Calvinwrote it in 1541 in Geneva (Brophy,
432). Calvin wrote this draft in order to educate people about the reforms he desired to see in the
church throughout England (Brophy, 432). His writings were one of the most influential ideas for
Protestant theology (Cole, 318). When Calvin converted to Protestantism, he wanted to create
reforms within the church so that there was proper structure for both the church and government
(Cole, 319). The best way for him to get the reforms he wanted was to write them down, which he
did in the Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances. Calvin s Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances is about
the structure of the church and government he wished to see (Brophy, 434). Unlike our government
today, Calvin did not see a need for separation of church and state. Calvin s ideal government was
one that was tied directly to the church, and the church officials would also be the government
officials. The draft includes the duties,

I Believe The Popularity Of Open Spaces
I believe the popularity of open spaces that join the kitchen to other living areas is not only due
to the smells of cooking and the conversation to be had between all, but also due to the magical
sounds of cooking. We often think and talk of the smells of cooking but tend to overlook the
sounds. The preparation sounds start us wondering, What are we going to have? . The roller
sound of drawers opening and closing, the tap of wood meeting wood as pantry doors close (and
for some the magnetic click of child safety locks as doors open) and the tinkling and clanging of
glass and metal utensils are too general and don t give it away. Neither does the rubbery suction
sound of the refrigerator door opening and closing or the ripping sound of cardboard boxes and
paper packets being opened. Wait! It s the plastic against plastic vacuum release sound; it s the
tub of spread! Oh! But that s no help either. As the litany continues with running rinse water, the
splat of water in the sink from a shake to drain something, chopping, slicing and greens brushing
against greens as they are gingerly tossed, we have our first answer! It s salad! That starts the
imagination flowing. What dressing will be selected? Will I get to steal a crouton before it is
ready? Maybe even a cucumber slice. I know, a cherry tomato! Of course the smells will eventually
give answer to what some sounds will only hint at, but that comes later. What s that? Ah! Something
is starting to sizzle. That narrows

basis of human behavior and personality traits. The Psychodynamic approach focuses on the
unconscious mind and what drives thoughts and behavior based on the mind and personality.
Sigmund Freud, The founding father of the Psychodynamic approach, theorized that early
relationships with parents shape an individual s personality. King, L. A. (2014). The science of
psychologyan appreciative view. New York, NY: McGraw Hill Education. Pg 12. The
psychodynamic approach is the best method to describe and analyze human behavior; in my
opinion, because our early experiences and relationships are highly influential on how we act and
behave as an adults.

Great Companies Moral Responsibility In Good To Great
In the book Good to Great, the author discusses how the great companies address the issue of
rigor in the hiring process using three practical disciplines. Having the right people in the right
position is one of the key aspects of having a great company. When a company is attempting to go
from good to great these disciplines are needed to head down that path to greatness. The first is
when in doubt, don t hire. Great companies do not settle or hire just to fill an open position. They
take the time to interview and constantly look until the find the person that best fits the position and
the company s needs. Hiring the wrong person can waste valuable time and money that could have
been better used. The second discipline is when you know

Discuss The Relationship Between Attitudes And Behaviour
The relationship between attitudes and behaviour is one of the most popular topics in social
psychology. We form attitudes from mainly our own personal experiences including influences
from other people. Fishbein and Ajzen (1975) agreed with the idea about how direct experience,
form our attitudes i.e. if you had a horrible time at the hospital getting a needle. Then you may
develop a negative attitude to all hospitals. Alhough the definition of attitudes can not be
confirmed yet, this essay uses the description in Hogg s and Vaughan s book (1995) that attitudes
are a general feeling or evaluation about persons, object or issue as well as a relatively enduring
organization of beliefs, feelings and behavioural tendencies towards socially significant objects,
groups, evens or symbols . This definition indicates that there is a close relationship between
attitudes and behaviour.

Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home
Home Sweet Home
Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my
girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first
hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly
we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses
on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we
entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing
down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived.
We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me.
One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every
bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home
had a large southern style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets.
The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage
complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the
house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for
me. We knew this was our house; it had to be.
As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to
ring. We

Resting Potential Research Paper
The resting potential of a membrane is when it is negatively charged due to the movement of the
positive ions out of the cell. More of the potassium ions diffuse out of specialized gated channels
of the nerve cell than the number of sodium ions that diffuse into it. In addition to this movement
of ions, active transport of ions occurs due to the Na+/K+ pump which moves or pumps out the
respective Na+ and K+ ions at a ratio of 3:2. Because the axon loses a greater number of positive
ions than it gains, the inside of its membrane is negative in relation to the outside. The unequal
concentration of positive ions across the nerve cell membrane gives rise to the negative resting
potential. Polarization is the charge of the resting membrane which is polarized due to the
concentration gradient created by the higher number of potassiumions inside than the sodiumions
outside. At rest, the potential... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When an axon becomes stimulated a rapid change occurs in the electrical potential difference
across the nerve cell membrane, and registers at +40mV. The cell membrane becomes more
permeable to sodium than potassium. The gates of the sodium channel open and the gates of the
potassium channel close. Sodium ions rush into the nerve cell because of the electrochemical
gradient. The rapid influx of sodium ions causes a charge reversal known as depolarization.
Once the inside becomes positive the sodium influx is stopped and its gates close. As soon as the
inside of the cell becomes positive, the sodium potassium pump in the cell membrane starts up
again to pull potassium in and push sodium out. The process of restoring the original polarity of
the nerve membrane is called repolarization. Nerves can t be activated again until the
repolarization process is complete and usually lasts 1 to 10 ms, this timeframe is called the
refractory

Ricky Substance Abuse
In today s society, we are faced with many issues and problem. How we learn to deal and cope with
these issues plays a major role in a person life. Ricky is a 37 year old male from Gainville, Ga. I
have been working with Ricky to help him deal with his Substance Abuse for about a month
now hears at Sunrise. When he was 18 years old, he moved to New York with his uncle to find a
job and to go to school to better himself. Sometimes life can throw a curveball at you by the time
he was 28 years old, he was hooked on cocaineand had been arrested numerous of time for
possession of a controlled substance and assault. His last arrested came a year ago where he plead
guilty to possession of a controlled substance and DWI. After, that he moved to... Show more

According, to Claus and Kindleberger (2002). A with substance abuseproblem needs to be assessed
and apply appropriate strategies. Ricky cocaine addiction has put a strained on his relationship with
his family because, they do not know his is using drugs, and his addiction has also put him in a
lot of trouble with the law. He also says when he is around his friend they influence him to use
drugs. Ricky also stated that his learning social skill has never been what it should have been
growing up. He had a hard time learning the information in school, which is while it took him so
long to graduate. Social Skill is the lack of knowledge, as opposed to intentional deviance
(Walsh, 2009). This deficit is found in children between the age 7 and 10. After, reviewed the
case files from his prior records and notes from our sessions. I have come up with this
assessment cocaine is the major issue that he is facing. Therefore, if he gets this under control
then he can deal with the other issues that he is dealing with. I also assess that this drug problem
is taking a major total on his body. Because, it is harming his body, which could cause major
concern in the long run. People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to suffer a drug related
stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into a stage of
withdrawing. In which he doesn t communicate with anyone and he sleeps all the time. I have
determined since this is the major force

Behind The Formaldehyde Curtain
Having read three essays over the last five days, I can now sincerely say that the way an essay is
written is as important as its topic, when we think about its effect on the audience. That s actually
why I didn t like Behind the Formaldehyde Curtain even though it was enlightening me about a
pretty interesting topic. The writer chose the give the information step by step, and it was quite
boring reading twelve pages of concatenated data along with some quotes. Also the sentence: The
hands should be cupped slightly for a more lifelike, relaxed appearance (Brady) made me think
about death, in all the cultures, it is showed as if dying is a good thing rather than bad. Why do
people try to make dead people look better than they really are?... Show more content on

Judy Brady also used repetitions in Why I Want a Wife such as: I want a wife who will take care
of my physical needs. I want a wife who will keep my house clean (Brady), to make her ideas
more effective, whereas Jessica Mitford used quotes from experts such as: Mr. John H. Eckels,
president of the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, thus describes the first part of the
embalming procedure: In the hands of a skilled practitioner, this work may be done in a
comparatively short time (Mitford) and Jonathan Swift uses facts such as: The number of souls in
this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be
about two hundred thousand couple whose wives 35 are breeders (Swift). I believe that using
repetitions was the most effective one because it helped creating a dramatic punch while giving the
message to the audience. It also occurred to me that all three of the novels aroused interest during
the time they were written, probably because the writers opposed the common senses on the topic,
instead they presented their ideas from a different point of

My Experience Of Volunteering At Children s Hospital Colorado
Throughout the years I feel that I ve had a number of valuable experiences, but none that have
changed me as much as my experience volunteering at Children s Hospital Colorado. I still vividly
remember my first walking past the sliding glass doors of the pristine hospital on my very first day
volunteering during the summer of 2012.
My fourteen year old self was utterly terrified, pondering all the possible ways things could go
wrong. I remember feeling insecure and slightly clueless, unsure of where to go, what to do, and
what to say. Even with two parents who worked there, and a number of prior visits for my
orientation and testing, I suddenly felt as though I have never experienced this before. For once I
was on my own, responsible for myself and all of my actions, I was expected to be ... Show more

It was only a few minutes after nine but the colorful lobby of the hospital was already busy with
people. There was a bright, cheerful atmosphere that for some reason surprised me; I didn t
expect everyone to seem so lighthearted. Once I got to Creative Play, I opened the door that
was made of glass with a wooden frame. Creative Play, the hospital s daycare for patient siblings,
was nearly empty when I entered. When I stepped in there was a woman with long light brown
hair and brown eyes sitting behind a desk that was attached to a small wooden gate. She looked up
and smiled at me, and to be polite I smiled back. Hi, I m Regina.
Hi Regina, are you volunteering here today? She asked and I nodded while trying to unlock the
wooden gate. I m Barb.
It s nice to meet you. I said, still keeping my smile; Barb was a person that I saw nearly every
time I volunteered that summer. Although she was older than me by quite a few years, she
became a friend that supported me like so many others. Through the program, I made new ties with
new people, I saw life from a different

Suggested Strategy for Central High School
Needs Assessment As chair of the committee charged with the recommendation for the purchase
of new computer equipment, I will detail a suggested plan for this $50,000 project at Central
High School. The high school has 1000 students in four grade levels (9th through 12th), and has
approximately 60 and 20 supporting staff. An inventory of the computers at the whole school
was conducted to understand what is currently available. There is currently one computer lab
per grade level in the school with 22 computers each, allowing for each grade use of this for one
period per day. There are also two computers in each classroom (one for student use, one for
teacher use) as well as a bank of computers in the library. There are also individual computers for
the guidance counselors, nurse, principals and assistant principals, and office staff. As the
inventory was being done, a survey was passed out to all of the staff asking where the needs
were greatest and what specific equipment was lacking. The overwhelming desire of the majority
of the teachers was more computers in the individual classrooms, specifically in the math and
science rooms as a lot of current information was required and there was a lot of competition for
its use. There was a great desire to be flexible and move the computer from place to place, such
that a laptop computer or tablet computer was preferred over a desktop. Market Research In order
to take the needs of the school and convert that into a proposal, I

  • 2. Electronic Commerce Electronic Wallets are Secure Introduction The idea for paying for goods and services electronically is not a new one. The search for more efficient ways of doing business is now driving another revolution in the conduct of business and in our concept of money. This revolution is known as electronic commerce, which is the symbiotic integration of communications, data management, and security capabilities to allow business applications within different organizations to automatically exchange information related to the sale of goods and services. With the advent of the electronic age the concept of value was transferred to plastic cards with a magnetic stripe which securely carried personal account information. These cards are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the number of people utilizing the internet increases, the risk of security violations increases with it. It is true that sometimes the cost of protecting the network outweighs the cost of just leaving it unprotected, but it is undeniable that the cost of protecting the network becomes nontrivial as more services such as electronic wallets become available. Some of the threats that stimulated the upsurge for people with the lack of security were compromise of clients financial details (credit card numbers, etc) which may result in the unauthorized transfer of funds, development of a method of obtaining the goods or services without making the appropriate payment and other methods permitting the unauthorized transfer of funds. Regardless of how a payments system is constructed these attacks are always more or less practical although some techniques can virtually eliminate the risk of one or another. The major reason electronic wallets has not yet taken off to its full potential is because, until recently, there has not been a readily available, widely deployed foolproof way of preventing fraud and theft of sensitive financial information. Implementing security involves assessing the possible threats to one s network, servers and information. The goal would be to then attempt to minimize the threat as much as possible without making it difficult for legitimate users to access the information. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prescriptive English Essay Linguists and other scholars who study language do not take prescriptive grammar rules seriously. To them, understanding the meaning and function of words is more important than correction. They belief that language is not an empirical fact and that it is not universal, there are hundreds of dialects in a language which means that there are hundreds of grammars as well. There is also no scientific validation that can be done on prescriptive grammar. The majority of what native speakers know about their language wasn t taught to them explicitly but in an implicit way through the communicative teaching approach which is a more natural way of speaking and has more to do with whether the message the speaker tries to convey is understood. One example of this is a very common one; a person says Can I use the bathroom? which is grammatically wrong because of course he/she can, but the question should be May I use the bathroom? which is asking for permission. If both of the questions are meant to be understood in the same way by the person who is asking it and the person who is listening, why should it be wrong? Some examples of popular, enduring prescriptive rules in English are that a person shouldn t split infinitives, for example: He decided to quickly leave the room you should say he decided quickly to leave the room. You shouldn t end a sentence with a preposition, for example: which student did you talk to? you should say: To which student did you talk? Knowing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am the set designer for the Hollywood movie production company that you may be very aware of. I do not know if you are aware but many Actors, good Actors with that being said are losing their jobs and it s costing the production loss of money. McCarthyism looks like he has had a fear of the situation revolving the red scare. The red scare went above and beyond and lead communists to a position that people really didn t think it was ever going to be possible to reach. Mr. McCarthy is a senator that started taking actions of his own to go ahead and look for United States citizens that were supporting and cheering on the communist for his benefit. The red scare was already a big time situation that had everyone on their feet scared of different possible outcomes within our own society. McCarthy will only be making our society more terrified and not going the right path. McCarthy started his journey to find these U.S Citizen that said were communist through the department of state. While getting in their mission was to go for bigger groups and wanted to target the military. Once he saw and realized that his mission can possibly fail, he decided to target Hollywood movie companies. By doing so, he boycott a few famous actors which was later known to the public as Black Hollywood List. He targeted actors as well as productions and writers. McCarthy then created another Black Hollywood list that promoted ten famous actors which he believed were communist which made more publication and talk. This led to famous Hollywood actors to lose their jobs and positions on roles with production companies. These actors became the actual target which led to the end of their acting careers.Mr. McCarthy went against many amendments of this country. This whole time his focus has been to force innocent people into helping him find different communist for no positive result. • 5. Essay about Let s Stand Up for Liberty Who is Robyn Blumner? Perhaps she is simply your everyday editorialist for a daily newspaper. Or, as the former executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida (ACLU), could she possibly have her own agenda? One of Blumner s columns entitled Let s stand up for liberty was published in a well known editorial writers magazine called The Masthead . In summary, it focuses on freedom of speech, and how we tend to lose sight of it, or even have it taken from us during national hardships. She feels that the government tends to deny us of these freedoms when we need them the most, during war. Blumner sturdily supports her claims throughout the course of her column. However, does the fact that she was once affiliated with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blumner claims during World War I, few editorial boards stood up for civil liberties . Instead, they chose to reflect the xenophobic [anti immigrant] views of their readership [par.16]. In support, she quotes from a professor of journalism, Joseph McKerns, to back her statement. McKerns asserts foreigners were the ones portrayed as a threat rather than merely exercising free speech [par.18]. He also alleges the daily press made a convenient separation, seeing the speech of the political activist as different from what it did [par.17]. By accentuating her interest of immigrant s rights, could it be she is supporting yet again, her past organization? Where do her priorities lie? So far we have identified her support of national freedom and immigrant s rights. Throughout the course of the article she also defends the rights of Japanese Americans, German Americans, and defends publishers that were prosecuted for violating the Espionage Act in wartime history. She may have valid claims, but she is still being biased. What about the natives of Iraq that gained liberties from the capture of Saddam Hussein? War doesn t always have viewed negatively. Apparently she was respected enough to be published. However, a little background on The Masthead is nothing more than an opinion writing magazine. Does this make her credible? I think not! • 6. Winston Churchill Leadership Oftentimes, the best leaders are those who are willing to step up and face the daunting tasks that no one else will. As Prime Minister of England during World War II, Winston Churchill s leadership left a permanent mark upon history. Many believe that without him, the Allies would have lost the war. In the words of John C. Maxwell, Leaders become great not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others. Churchill prided himself in having courage in all things and possessed the unique ability to provide others with courage also. He led the British empirethrough battle after battle tirelessly, saying, Continuous effort not strength or intelligence is the key to unlocking our potential. To him, there was no use saying we are doing our best. You have got to succeed in doing what is necessary. Although it was almost certain that Britain would lose World War II, Churchill provided the willpower needed to stand against Germany and engendered a motivated and hardworking government, as well as an inspired nation. Winston Churchill s headstrong resiliency in the face of danger defined his career as a war leader. Former Prime Minister David Cameron states, He was an incredible leader for our country, and indeed for the whole free world, at an impossibly difficult time. (1). The issuer reserves the right to return investors principal and stop interest payment before the maturity of bonds, of course at a higher rate than what the bond was sold at. Due to this reason, the duration is not applicable to callable bonds. Similar to this, duration has no applicability in the case of common stocks and real estate. It is because a common stock is the subject of high risk due to fluctuations in prices. In the event of stocks, investors will tend to sell stocks any time when their price is higher than prices on the date of acquisition. • 9. Emily Dickinson And Death The Death in Emily Dickinson Like many poets, Emily Dickinson explored the themes of death, leading to the answers of so many questions, in which she was concerned herself. Her poetry frequently clarifies her reaction as to why she wrote about death. However, her treatment of death is unique: Because I could not stop for DeathHe kindly stopped for me (577). Dickinson expresses herself being able to accept death as an old friend rather than a force of nature. With many of her poems, Dickinson elaborates and questions death being incorporated in daily lives as well as the mysterious life leading after it. Among the understanding of her views of death, numerous people become frightened as if it were some creature prowling behind something ready to take them at any second. Death has been stated frequently throughout her poems, each one composed of frustration, suffering, pain, sorrow, grief, and loneliness. Death is a common theme in her writing. The obsession Dickinson made of death of darkness, Or rather He passed Us The Dews drew quivering and chill (577). Today over 85% of video games contained violence, and the rest have explicit content like sex, drugs, and disregard to human life (Carnagey, Anderson, Bushman, 2007). Someone who is new to video games is exposing themselves to violence, and for many the general concern comes from being influence from such games. For example, video games first influence school shooting that first started in West Paducah, Kentucky in 1997, Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1998, Springfield, Oregon in 1998, etc. Making by example the violent nature of video games (Anderson, 2004). Also taking into account a meta analysis of published and unpublished studies reveal they may be some levels of bias between video games and violence than disconfirming studies (Decamp, 2015). The negative views the public has of video games has increased the connotation that violent video games act as murder simulators, or that games are gateways for young children to learn to kill. Linking this medium to deadly assaults, and criminalizing the youth (Markey, Markey, French, 2015). One method game researchers use to overcome the limitations of past research is by using PSM (propensity score matching) a statistical method use to estimate the outcomes of a treatment. The results show the comparison of violent video games effects with environmental effects, and social risks. The relationship between the player and their family helps evaluates these behaviors such as violence in home, school, parental attachment, and close supervision (Decamp, 2015). The speech begins with a description of the situation of Greece and Turkey, which suffer political oppression from terrorist groups and Communists. Then Truman explains that the UK is no longer able to provide Greece with financial assistance. Truman talks about US support for the United Nations (in particular, support for the goals of freedom and independence of all members of the world community), which, in his view, can not be realized without Helping free people in maintaining their free institutions and their national integrity against aggressive movements that seek to impose a totalitarian regime on them. Everything including the language of the Truman Doctrine made from an isolationist America that wanted to be left alone, a world policeman Hans Morgenthau in his book The New US Foreign Policy talks about the changes that the Truman doctrine has undergone over the course of time. The Truman Doctrine has transformed the US s particular interest in a geographically delineated part of the world into a moral principle of a global scale that could be applied despite the limits of American interests and American power. Thus, the doctrine of Truman, proclaimed by him in his speech before the Congress on March 12, 1947, spoke about the global role of the United States, the responsibility of the United States for the world order, the need to protect free peoples from any external pressure and under pressure from the outside, of course, understood the ... Enablers are the essential and underpinning skills that come together to provide expert professional practice (Chapelhow, C et al. 2005, p.2). These include; assessment, communication, documentation, risk, professional decision making and managing uncertainty. The enablers work together to provide a holistic approach to the care of patients in health care settings. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A SWOT analysis of using a merger to expand operations follows. A strength from performing a merger is the ability to acquire a company s unused debt. Some firms simply do not exhaust their debt capacity. If a firm with unused debt capacity is acquired, the new management can then increase debt financing, and reap the tax benefits associated with the increased leverage (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). Another strength is enabling Baderman Island to remove an ineffective management strategy or team. Baderman Island has the option to decide who stays with the merged company, and who is out the door. Often times, a weak management leading team is the problem the organization has not evaluated for its mediocre success. The merger of two firms can result in an increase in market or monopoly power. Although this can result in increased wealth, it may also be illegal. The Clayton Act, as amended by the Celler Kefauver Amendment of 1950, makes any merger illegal that results in a monopoly or substantially reduces competition. The Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission monitor all mergers to ensure that they do not result in a reduction of competition (Keown, 2005, pp. 23 4). • 16. Limitations Of Racist Speech Limits on Racist Speech in Public Contexts When the first amendment is brought up, one of the first things that comes to mind is free speech. Even though we don t give it much thought, our free speech does have limits. The more obvious limits such as knowing that you can t threaten people or shout Fire! in a crowded space make sense because it s easy to see how they cause direct harm. These general limits are important in order to ensure a safe and peaceful society, but when it comes to voicing prejudice views, it becomes difficult to determine what should and should not be restricted by the first amendment. After all, when negative and hurtful opinions are directed at a specific group of people, it becomes hard to see how protecting them could be a good thing. The important thing to remember is that when sharing these views becomes harmful and leads to harassment, it is no longer protected under the first amendment. However, everyone sees things differently, so drawing the line between what is just offensive and harassment needs to be determined and treated on a case by case basis. This will not only allow us to come to a solution for these individual problems, but it leaves room for discussion which will help to combat the root cause of prejudice. While trying to think of ways to regulate racist speech, we might think that an easy solution would be to place a ban on racist speech altogether, but this quickly becomes problematic. Banning specific opinions and beliefs would no longer make our speech free, and even when people are permitted to share wrong or offensive opinions, protecting free speech still has more potential benefit than harm. This gives us the right to speak out against our government when it is doing something we disagree with, but it also allows people to share their racist views. If we want to continue to reap the benefits, we also have to accept that racist speech is a part of free speech, thus protected under the first amendment. This is not the same thing as saying that racist speech should be unregulated; there are regulations for when hate speech becomes harmful, but the government shouldn t and isn t responsible for regulating it. The issue of regulating racist speech is a local ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Reality Is Seemingly Through Reality Essay What we believe to be impossible to be achieved through reality is often projected in the unconscious. Freud theorized that our minds repressed desires that could summon emotions such as guilt or shame, which could lead to what is called wish fulfillment through dreams, hallucinations, or phases of neurosis. Experiences of intense dreamsequences that involve sexual relations with family members, or homicide carried out by the individual or others, are examples of wish fulfillment dreams. Said dreams represent taboos or actions that could result in extreme consequences in reality, so instead, the impulses or yearnings are satisfied within the unconscious where only the individual can truly gain access to. To Freud, the mindwas a part of us suffering from chronic turmoil, with the ego and the superego constantly at war with the ID, where impulses rest. When my dream occurred, the contents, while shocking, did not come as a surprise to me. During that period, my father had been absent from my life for the most part, causing much distress from my family as a whole. If the condition is not met, then the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back. The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible / qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. • 22. Organizational Redesign Essay Organizational redesign is a process that every business will have to perform to maintain or increase their efficiency or to maintain their competitive level with their peers. Unfortunately, most employees will view redesign as a threat to the norm or maybe even their jobs. On the other hand, other stakeholders will find that it is a necessity due to the ever changing outside influences such as advances in technology and internal changes such as a paradigm shift. Ummel (1994) states that redesign is not the same as reorganization or restructuring which are typically motivated by financial recovery plans (Ummel, 1994). Organizational redesign is an open, creative effort to further integrate itself by simplifying and altering its shape (Ummel, 1994). One of the best ways for employees to protect themselves from any negative actions such as a layoff or reduction in force is to know which transferrable skills are required or looked upon as favorable by the employer. The more transferrable skills an employee possesses, the more attractive they will appear to management. To add, if by the unfortunate chance that a person becomes unemployed, their skills will assist in them obtaining new employment. We are all born with skills we take from job to job (Issacs, 2017). • 25. Magical Realism In The Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Does The Metamorphosis belong under the magical realism genre? The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka is a short story describing the transformation of a lonely traveling salesman, Gregor, to a gigantic insect. Besides describing Gregor s physical metamorphosis, the story also depicts Gregor s mental metamorphosis from a human to an insect. In addition to Gregor s personal metamorphosis, Kafka illustrates Gregor s family s transformation from tolerating Gregor to treating him with hatred, disrespect, and disgust. In Bruce Holland Rogers s article What Is Magical Realism, Really? , he defined magical realism as having repetitions in time and combining magical and ordinary elements. Throughout Kafka s description of these events, it is clear that The Metamorphosisshould be categorized under magical realism because it combines magical and realistic elements and uses repetition of time and distortion of identity, similar to many other magical realism works such as Axolotl by Julio CortГЎzar and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Magical realism stories combine realistic and magical details to illustrate a real world with imaginary elements. For example, in A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings , the old angel has huge buzzard wings, dirty and half plucked, forever entangled in the mud ( A Very Old 1). The wings are clearly magical elements, but they are forever entangled in the mud , a realistic element. This entanglement between magical and realistic elements is a common literary device found in magical realism. Therefore, Kafka s combination of magical elements, such as Gregor s insect body, and realistic elements like Gregor s family and bedroom, supports the classification of The Metamorphosis under the genre of magical realism. When Gregor woke up from unpleasant dreams in the beginning of the story, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect (89). This is clearly a magical element, as it is obviously impossible for a human to turn into an insect in one night (or any amount of time). Although Gregor goes through very dramatic changes, his regular human bedroom remains the same. Aside from having an insect body, Gregor s surroundings, such as his ... In the novella Ethan Frome, Mattie Silver (Snow White) surpasses the beauty of every living organism in Starkfield. Zenobia Frome correlates herself with the Evil Queen. Furthermore, Zeena, a hypochondriac in the eyes of Ethan Frome, is used as a foil for Mattie Silver. In the dark and gloomy tale of Ethan Frome, the story emerges as an inverted fairytale. The fairy maiden anthropomorphizes into a greater evil than the Evil Queen, herself. Snow White was known for her pale skin, red lips, and her beautiful voice. Alike Snow White, Edith Wharton sedulously attaches red and light with Mattie Silver, symbolizing her with a red scarf. Ethan Frome and Zeena are associated with dark and grim colors blending in with their haggard surroundings. Ethan is in awe when he sees Mattie, his silver lining. Zeena envies Mattie indirectly in the story and goes out of her way to make her seem like a horrendous person. Moreover, Zeena emerges as the powerful Evil Queen in Ethan Frome that successfully wins. Thus, in Ethan Frome, Edith Wharton taints the classic fairytale to become a disastrous tragedy of two lovers. The death penalty continues to be an issue of controversy in the whole world because people have different beliefs for giving justice to the innocents. For some people, they want it legal because death penalty will give justice for the innocent victims and a form of vengeance to the criminals. On the flipside, other people don t agree with it because a lot of innocents are putting into death. These people believe that it is better to put the criminal into jail without a parole unless there is a proof that he or she is innocent instead of removing the human rights of the criminal to live and have a chance to change his or her life. Database Systems From The Point Of View Of The Architecture 2.9 CLIENT/SERVER ARCHITECTURE So far in this chapter we have been discussing database systems from the point of view of the architecture in Fig. 2.3. In this section we offer a slightly different perspective on the subject. The overall purpose of a database system is to support the development and execution of database application. From a high level point of view, therefore, such a system can be regarded as having a very simple two part structure, consisting of a server, also called the back end, and a set of clients, also called the front end (refer to Fig. 2.5). Explanation: 1.The server is just the DBMS itself. It supports all of the basic DBMS functions discussed in Section 2.8 data definition, data manipulation, data security and integrity, and so on. In other words, server in this context is just another name for the DBMS. 2.The clients are the various applications that run on top of the DBMS both user written applications and built in application (i.e., applications provided by the DBMS vendors or some third party). As far as the server is concerned, of course, there is no difference between user written and built in applications; they all use the same interface to the server namely, the external level interface discussed in Section 2.3. Essay On Raw Gley Soil The Main Soil Types of the UK Terrestrial Raw Soils These are soils consisting predominantly of unaltered mineral material that have no surface/sub surface horizon attributed to soil forming processes (unless buried under a 730cm thick deposit from the Holocene) (Avery, 1980;). These soils do not normally have continuous vegetation cover (Avery, 1980). They occur in very recently formed soiland may have a superficial organic or organo mineral layer less than 5cm thick. Sometimes they have a buried horizon below 30cm of depth. (Thompson, 2007; Jarvis, 1984). Raw Gley Soils Raw gley soils are found within mineral material that has remained waterlogged since deposition (Thompson, 2007). The soils are missing a distinctive top soil and contain gleyed subsurface horizons (Avery, 1980). They also contain a mineral horizon which starts at 20cm and extends below 30cm (Avery, 1980). Jarvis (1984) also states that the soils are distinctly mottled above 40cm depth. Raw gley soil types are mostly confined to intertidal flats (Avery, 1980) or areas that represent various stages in the development of salt marshes (Thompson, 2007). Lithomorphic Soils Contain a distinctive top soil that is humose or peaty and a substratum starting at 40cm in depth which has been altered little (Avery, 1980; Buol, 1997). • 35. Influential Ideas For Protestant Theology John Calvin was the son of bourgeois parents in Picardy, France (Brophy, 431). First, he studied at the University of Paris to obtain a Master of the Arts degree, and then he went on to study law at OrlГ©ans, where he received a doctorate of law (Brophy, 431). When he converted to Protestantism he was forced to flee Paris and eventually ended up in Geneva, Switzerland, where he wrote his Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances, along with many other significant writings (Brophy, 432). This document is a primary source because John Calvinwrote it in 1541 in Geneva (Brophy, 432). Calvin wrote this draft in order to educate people about the reforms he desired to see in the church throughout England (Brophy, 432). His writings were one of the most influential ideas for Protestant theology (Cole, 318). When Calvin converted to Protestantism, he wanted to create reforms within the church so that there was proper structure for both the church and government (Cole, 319). The best way for him to get the reforms he wanted was to write them down, which he did in the Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances. Calvin s Draft of Ecclesiastical Ordinances is about the structure of the church and government he wished to see (Brophy, 434). Unlike our government today, Calvin did not see a need for separation of church and state. Calvin s ideal government was one that was tied directly to the church, and the church officials would also be the government officials. The draft includes the duties, ... • 36. I Believe The Popularity Of Open Spaces I believe the popularity of open spaces that join the kitchen to other living areas is not only due to the smells of cooking and the conversation to be had between all, but also due to the magical sounds of cooking. We often think and talk of the smells of cooking but tend to overlook the sounds. The preparation sounds start us wondering, What are we going to have? . The roller sound of drawers opening and closing, the tap of wood meeting wood as pantry doors close (and for some the magnetic click of child safety locks as doors open) and the tinkling and clanging of glass and metal utensils are too general and don t give it away. Neither does the rubbery suction sound of the refrigerator door opening and closing or the ripping sound of cardboard boxes and paper packets being opened. Wait! It s the plastic against plastic vacuum release sound; it s the tub of spread! Oh! But that s no help either. As the litany continues with running rinse water, the splat of water in the sink from a shake to drain something, chopping, slicing and greens brushing against greens as they are gingerly tossed, we have our first answer! It s salad! That starts the imagination flowing. What dressing will be selected? Will I get to steal a crouton before it is ready? Maybe even a cucumber slice. I know, a cherry tomato! Of course the smells will eventually give answer to what some sounds will only hint at, but that comes later. What s that? Ah! Something is starting to sizzle. That narrows ... • 37. The Psychodynamic Approach I believe that the Psychodynamic approach to psychology is the best method for discovering the basis of human behavior and personality traits. The Psychodynamic approach focuses on the unconscious mind and what drives thoughts and behavior based on the mind and personality. Sigmund Freud, The founding father of the Psychodynamic approach, theorized that early relationships with parents shape an individual s personality. King, L. A. (2014). The science of psychologyan appreciative view. New York, NY: McGraw Hill Education. Pg 12. • 38. Great Companies Moral Responsibility In Good To Great In the book Good to Great, the author discusses how the great companies address the issue of rigor in the hiring process using three practical disciplines. Having the right people in the right position is one of the key aspects of having a great company. When a company is attempting to go from good to great these disciplines are needed to head down that path to greatness. The first is when in doubt, don t hire. Great companies do not settle or hire just to fill an open position. They take the time to interview and constantly look until the find the person that best fits the position and the company s needs. Hiring the wrong person can waste valuable time and money that could have been better used. The second discipline is when you know ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Discuss The Relationship Between Attitudes And Behaviour The relationship between attitudes and behaviour is one of the most popular topics in social psychology. We form attitudes from mainly our own personal experiences including influences from other people. Fishbein and Ajzen (1975) agreed with the idea about how direct experience, form our attitudes i.e. if you had a horrible time at the hospital getting a needle. Then you may develop a negative attitude to all hospitals. Alhough the definition of attitudes can not be confirmed yet, this essay uses the description in Hogg s and Vaughan s book (1995) that attitudes are a general feeling or evaluation about persons, object or issue as well as a relatively enduring organization of beliefs, feelings and behavioural tendencies towards socially significant objects, groups, evens or symbols . This definition indicates that there is a close relationship between attitudes and behaviour. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Descriptive Essay On Home Sweet Home Home Sweet Home Everyone dreams about buying his or her dream house; I lost my dream house, twice. When my girlfriend Izzy and I began house searching, it was a whirlwind of excitement. This was our first hunt in the real estate market, and we were ready to close in on the perfect first house. Suddenly we were staying up into the late hours of the night, cuddled in bed, endlessly searching for houses on Zillow. Throw pillows, dishes and pictures began to jump off the shelves at us in every store we entered. We anxiously imagined every aspect of what we wanted in our house. The rush of chasing down the ideal house and making it our home was thrilling, yet short lived. We were set on a modern ranch style dwelling, farmhouse style for her, and a large garage for me. One day our real estate agent called and exclaimed she tracked down a house that met every bullet point on our checklist, and that we should meet her immediately to view it. The home had a large southern style front porch, new rustic bamboo wood floors, and all white cabinets. The open and light build was perfect for Izzy. Around the side of the house was a two car garage complete with a custom peg wall for tools and built in shelving. Not much further around the house was the back yard, large and completely fenced in. The storage and build was perfect for me. We knew this was our house; it had to be. As we were standing in the center of the bare living room, our real estate agent s phone began to ring. We ... • 41. Resting Potential Research Paper The resting potential of a membrane is when it is negatively charged due to the movement of the positive ions out of the cell. More of the potassium ions diffuse out of specialized gated channels of the nerve cell than the number of sodium ions that diffuse into it. In addition to this movement of ions, active transport of ions occurs due to the Na+/K+ pump which moves or pumps out the respective Na+ and K+ ions at a ratio of 3:2. Because the axon loses a greater number of positive ions than it gains, the inside of its membrane is negative in relation to the outside. The unequal concentration of positive ions across the nerve cell membrane gives rise to the negative resting potential. Polarization is the charge of the resting membrane which is polarized due to the concentration gradient created by the higher number of potassiumions inside than the sodiumions outside. At rest, the potential... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When an axon becomes stimulated a rapid change occurs in the electrical potential difference across the nerve cell membrane, and registers at +40mV. The cell membrane becomes more permeable to sodium than potassium. The gates of the sodium channel open and the gates of the potassium channel close. Sodium ions rush into the nerve cell because of the electrochemical gradient. The rapid influx of sodium ions causes a charge reversal known as depolarization. Once the inside becomes positive the sodium influx is stopped and its gates close. As soon as the inside of the cell becomes positive, the sodium potassium pump in the cell membrane starts up again to pull potassium in and push sodium out. The process of restoring the original polarity of the nerve membrane is called repolarization. Nerves can t be activated again until the repolarization process is complete and usually lasts 1 to 10 ms, this timeframe is called the refractory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He also says when he is around his friend they influence him to use drugs. Ricky also stated that his learning social skill has never been what it should have been growing up. He had a hard time learning the information in school, which is while it took him so long to graduate. Social Skill is the lack of knowledge, as opposed to intentional deviance (Walsh, 2009). This deficit is found in children between the age 7 and 10. After, reviewed the case files from his prior records and notes from our sessions. I have come up with this assessment cocaine is the major issue that he is facing. Therefore, if he gets this under control then he can deal with the other issues that he is dealing with. I also assess that this drug problem is taking a major total on his body. Because, it is harming his body, which could cause major concern in the long run. People who use cocaine is 5 times more likely to suffer a drug related stroke. In my finding it was also relieved that after, using crack he goes into a stage of withdrawing. • 43. Behind The Formaldehyde Curtain Having read three essays over the last five days, I can now sincerely say that the way an essay is written is as important as its topic, when we think about its effect on the audience. That s actually why I didn t like Behind the Formaldehyde Curtain even though it was enlightening me about a pretty interesting topic. The writer chose the give the information step by step, and it was quite boring reading twelve pages of concatenated data along with some quotes. Also the sentence: The hands should be cupped slightly for a more lifelike, relaxed appearance (Brady) made me think about death, in all the cultures, it is showed as if dying is a good thing rather than bad. Why do people try to make dead people look better than they really are?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Judy Brady also used repetitions in Why I Want a Wife such as: I want a wife who will take care of my physical needs. I want a wife who will keep my house clean (Brady), to make her ideas more effective, whereas Jessica Mitford used quotes from experts such as: Mr. John H. Eckels, president of the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, thus describes the first part of the embalming procedure: In the hands of a skilled practitioner, this work may be done in a comparatively short time (Mitford) and Jonathan Swift uses facts such as: The number of souls in this kingdom being usually reckoned one million and a half, of these I calculate there may be about two hundred thousand couple whose wives 35 are breeders (Swift). I believe that using repetitions was the most effective one because it helped creating a dramatic punch while giving the message to the audience. It also occurred to me that all three of the novels aroused interest during the time they were written, probably because the writers opposed the common senses on the topic, instead they presented their ideas from a different point of ... My Experience Of Volunteering At Children s Hospital Colorado Throughout the years I feel that I ve had a number of valuable experiences, but none that have changed me as much as my experience volunteering at Children s Hospital Colorado. I still vividly remember my first walking past the sliding glass doors of the pristine hospital on my very first day volunteering during the summer of 2012. My fourteen year old self was utterly terrified, pondering all the possible ways things could go wrong. I remember feeling insecure and slightly clueless, unsure of where to go, what to do, and what to say. Even with two parents who worked there, and a number of prior visits for my orientation and testing, I suddenly felt as though I have never experienced this before. It was only a few minutes after nine but the colorful lobby of the hospital was already busy with people. There was a bright, cheerful atmosphere that for some reason surprised me; I didn t expect everyone to seem so lighthearted. When I stepped in there was a woman with long light brown hair and brown eyes sitting behind a desk that was attached to a small wooden gate. She looked up and smiled at me, and to be polite I smiled back. Hi, I m Regina. Hi Regina, are you volunteering here today? She asked and I nodded while trying to unlock the wooden gate. I m Barb. It s nice to meet you. I said, still keeping my smile; Barb was a person that I saw nearly every time I volunteered that summer. • 45. Suggested Strategy for Central High School Needs Assessment As chair of the committee charged with the recommendation for the purchase of new computer equipment, I will detail a suggested plan for this $50,000 project at Central High School. The high school has 1000 students in four grade levels (9th through 12th), and has approximately 60 and 20 supporting staff. An inventory of the computers at the whole school was conducted to understand what is currently available. There is currently one computer lab per grade level in the school with 22 computers each, allowing for each grade use of this for one period per day. There are also two computers in each classroom (one for student use, one for teacher use) as well as a bank of computers in the library. There are also individual computers for the guidance counselors, nurse, principals and assistant principals, and office staff. As the inventory was being done, a survey was passed out to all of the staff asking where the needs were greatest and what specific equipment was lacking. The overwhelming desire of the majority of the teachers was more computers in the individual classrooms, specifically in the math and science rooms as a lot of current information was required and there was a lot of competition for its use. There was a great desire to be flexible and move the computer from place to place, such that a laptop computer or tablet computer was preferred over a desktop. Market Research In order to take the needs of the school and convert that into a proposal, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
