constant adversities to succeed. Their everyday lives were overwhelmed with struggles and conflict.
Throughout, Sisika and Jordy made strong connections and worked together. By doing so they began
to reverse the previous struggles of Blackfoot. Sisika and Jordy have more in common than their
origins, and they both continuously overcome their differences. Even when ridiculed, Sisika and Jordy
eventually overcame their problematic pasts. Jordy, Sisika, and the community all went from
struggling individuals to having a sense of community and importance. That s what makes them all a

the wild and had to adjust to life on her own. Then, when she was taken to Blackfoot, she had to

Lean on Me and Mr. Joe Clark Essay
Lean on Me is a movie that focuses on an abrasive and tough principal that has been called to whip the
underprivileged inner city school of Eastside High into shape to avoid being run by the state as
opposed to the local school board. This movie brought about the controversial character of Mr. Joe
Clark was played by Morgan Freeman.
This film was released on March 3, 1989. Lean on Me was Morgan Freeman s first major motion
picture film where he stars as the lead role. This movie is loosely centered on Joe Clark, a real life
principal from Paterson, New Jersey, who, just as the fictional character of Mr. Joe Clark, is a tough,
hard, aggressive and abrasive. The fictional character of Joe Clark, who was also nicknamed Crazy

and wild antics start to get to the students and they begin to respect him even more for it. They begin
to see that he is only doing this with all of their best interests in mind. One of the students who was

choice to serve as principal of Eastside. But the students all say in rebuttal how Mr. Clark cares for
them like no other and how he has done so much good for them that they will not accept anyone

The Problem Of Crime Rate
Abstract
Crime is a big problem in the world. Many believe that nothing can be done to prevent it. The crime
rates are increasing rapidly all around the world. Crime is not easy to completely remove from our
society. For many years Scientist and psychologists have argued over whether upbringing forms of a
child s behavior or whether they are born with a personality disorder, or could it be the way their brain
is set up or their body type? Society may never really know all the causes of this criminal behavior.
With all the disagreement going on with the subject on the causes of criminals , the controversial
question would be Are criminals born, or made?
There are so many reasons behind the increased crime rate. I believe to figure out why the crime rate
is rapidly increasing, it is important to figure out the main cause and treat it. With proper measures
like straight laws, sufficient punishments, good moral and education, we may be able to avoid the
crimes to a certain extent.
In today society, crime rate is increasingly on the rise. The crimes that are being caused are stealing,
poverty, desperation, kidnap, rape, robbery, physical fighting, substance abuse, and many other crimes
that are not mentioned. For many years it has been said that a person s parents are the root to make the
person they become as an adult. A child s role model would mainly be their parents, but as a person s
age and grows older. They start to have other influence in their lives. Such as

Theme Of Dreams In A Midsummer Night s Dream
A dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occuring in a person s mind during sleep. Love
is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. Love and dreams go hand in
hand and in A Midsummer Night s Dream, love takes on many of the characteristics of dreams and the
two are almost indiscernible. Some characteristics of dreams are nightmarish, possibly peaceful, short
lived, exaggerated, able to foretell the future, supernatural, uncontrollable, and that they have no
chronological time. Mainly though, dreams are a way for people to picture fantasies and play out
uncontrollable actions without fear of consequences. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream,
love is a key recurring topic that can be either good or bad. Love is constantly changing or being
manipulated and an example of this love is when Oberon, the king of the Fairies, gives his wife,
Titania, the queen of the Fairies, a potion that makes her fall in love with an ass (77). Oberon does this
act out of spite because his wife does not want to give him a changeling boy, an ugly idiot, stupid,
fairy baby left in the human world, as a servant. Oberon instructs his personal fairy servant, Puck, to
give a potion to Oberon s wife and make her fall in love with an ass. There are two dreams in A
Midsummer Night s Dream that critics say are the only two that really matter. One of these dreams is
done by Hermia, the daughter of a nobleman of Athens (class notes). After Lysander, a

Treasure Coast Food Bank Case Study
The Salvation Army in Red Bank New Jersey is just one of many locations for the organization. Since
the Salvation Army is an international charity that helps people, not only across the United States but
in many countries as well, it was hard to find an organization that was only in one other state that
someone could compare it to because of its magnitude. Instead, this paper will focus on an
organization that was on the same level as the Salvation Army s as well as similar to its cause. Feeding
America is a national charity that helps to feed the hungry across the nation. However, this paper will
focus on one of its locations in Fort Pierce, Florida, called Treasure Coast Food Bank. Both of these
organizations offer similar aide to those in need and have the same goals of feeding America s hungry.
This article will compare and contrast the entirety of the organizations, as well as the amount of
people in need in the chosen areas of focus, their financial records, and their advertising strategies.

Financial statistics of the overall organizations will help to compare the statistics of the two specific
locations this paper focuses on. According to the Forbes largest U.s Charities list, previously
mentioned, The Salvation Army s overall fundraising is 90% effective whereas Feeding America s
fundraising is reported to be 99% effective. ( The 50 Largest U.S. Charities , n.d.) A lot of these
statistics show that Feeding America has higher percentages in most areas compared to the Salvation
Army. This is because, again looking at 2014, The Salvation Army received $344 million from the
government because they are a religious organization. ( The 50 Largest U.S. Charities: Salvation
Army, n.d.) This also explains why Feeding America has 99% donor dependency rate where the
Salvation Army only has a 70% rate. ( The 50 Largest U.S. Charities ,

Security Issues in International Relations Are Best...
Security Issues are Most Effectively Addressed by a Neo Realist Approach to International Relations.
Discuss.
Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the
optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in the
past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in the
past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation
have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most
effectively addresses security issues within International Relations. This essay seeks to argue that
although, at one time it may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of
economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals
view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms (Martin,
1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing
interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of
Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into the
development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to resuming of
nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs when all states
stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even
though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and
security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate many
different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes powerfully tied together
trade, finance and communication.
As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military power, and whilst
there is no denying that military security is

The Beauty Of Dystopia By Aldous Huxley
The beauty of dystopia is that it lets us vicariously experience future worlds but we still have the
power to change our own. (Ally Condie). Dystopian Literature is intriguing as it exposes the reader to
sometimes unconventional concepts and can also serve as a warning to what may become of society if
the wrong path is chosen. In literary works of Brave New World, there are many warnings that the
author Aldous Huxley establishes through events that take place in the civilized world. In this
dystopian society we can observe that science is the thriving fragment that holds society together but it
seems to demoralize and mitigate human morals and values. It is also apparent that love and family
are non existent in this society as sex is meaningless and having a baby is considered a big shame.
Some literature such as the works of Shakespeare and holy books are banned in society in order
eliminate outbursts from people who become too curious and possess a threat to social stability.
Science is important and beneficial to any thriving society. In this dystopian society science is what
keeps it together and functioning the way that the world controllers would would like it to be. Science
is used in a way that mitigates what a human should be through its oppressive powers. People are
oppressed through the taking of soma which is a mass produced, government approved hallucinogen
that relaxes the person and gives them the sense of happiness when it is not truly there.

K. 332 First Movement Analysis Essay
Mozart Sonata No. 12 in F Major
K. 332
First Movement
Rachel Gilmore
MTC 461.001
November 26, 2012
The first movement of Mozart s piano Sonata No. 12 in F Major is written fairly typically in the very
structured sonata form. Historically is follows the main guidelines that were understood for the form.
Harmonically, is progresses like expected. There are a few surprises here and there, but they are
typical for Mozart s compositions, especially his sonatas of the 18th century. In all, it makes a very
interesting piece of work, especially with so much contrast within it.
The formal structure of the first movement is sonata form. Not only is this evident in the title but it is
very clear after an analysis of the piece has been done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The No. 12 F Major sonata is a great example. The first movement in itself has seven different
melodic devices.
The harmony tends to stay within the realm of normal for the 1700 s. There are places, though, where
Mozart again drifts from common practices. Mozart was fairly well known for his inventive bridge
sections during the expositions of his sonatas. In these bridge sections, Mozart would begin a theme
on v (minor), ♭III, III, VI, or V that eventually creates the false sense of having transposed to the
dominant V key. Often Mozart would proceed to the tonic sounding V with an augmented sixth chord.
He does just this in Sonata number 12, as shown in the example on the top of the next page in
measures sixty four through sixty seven. VI7 ii7 V7 Ger+6 V
Mozart begins a harmony on a Major sixth chord and leads into a V with a seventh chord, giving a
dominant to tonic feel. He further gives this effect by leading into another V with the augment sixth
German chord that has been filled out with a perfect fifth and a major third above the A♭ bass. Though
the augmented sixth chord is voiced unorthodoxly, it gives the same effect.
The chord structure of this work is very functional. Cadence points are fairly clear and the phrases are
usually of a

The way Jeff Corwin wrote it was a mix of scientific facts and journalistic approach. It was like
reading a story and learning more than you expect. It also differs from other books that present the
same types of facts because this book is more of a wakeup call. He specified human activity as the
root of all of it and has presented actual, hard, cold facts about its effects on our own species. Jeff
Corwin s experiences were the most engaging parts of the book. He has done so much to help save the
animals and the way he tells his stories shows his passion for these animals and his love for what he
does. There were intense moments in his stories and they were very exciting as he brought readers into
his adventure. It can be seen that his facts can be verified. His sources were specifically listed in over
60 pages of bibliography. The average global temperature rose 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit from 1906 to
2005, according to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which
predicts there will be an increase of 3.2 to 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit in this century, depending on how
effectively greenhouse gases are curbed. He sourced this based on a book by the World watch

How Advertisements Can Not Be Escaped
Advertisements have taken many forms over the all of history. They have taken in the form of
newspapers, billboards, magazines and television commercials however as Kay (2001) says that when
it comes to online advertising to Barbara Kaye and Norman Medoff online advertising is a quite recent
phenomenon. According to Collins (1999), in 1994 the first banner ad was made by hotwired.com.
And since then the advertising phenomenon has exploded in every possible website and social media
outlet in existence today. You even cannot watch a YouTube video without see an advertisement pop
up in front of you before your video begins. Fortunately, some times you have the option to skip
almost most of the advertisement if you do not want to see it but for the most part in every other part
of the Internet you cannot escape advertisements. Even education websites have advertisements
everywhere for plagiarism checker to books stores advertisements cannot be escaped what ever you
do. Anyone might legally wonder why this is this the case and the underlying answer to that question
is economics which is going to be one of this essay s parts and its association with advertisements. We
will then take a look on banner ads and how they affect advertising especially with regard to another

Factors, Causes And Impact Of Administrative Monopoly
Impact of Administrative Monopoly
1. Introduction
Administrative monopoly is the behaviors that organizations use administrative power to restrict
competition. In most circumstances, regional administrative monopoly includes compulsory
administrative transactions, executive branch interference in business operations and abuse of a
dominant company administrative behavior (Schneider, 2009). Administrative monopoly includes;
using illegal means to override the executive division, block market for instance; foreign cars are
restricted to enter the city by legislative region; companies using monopoly privileges conferred by
the Government in order to increase barriers for competitors, reduce service levels, increase products
price, and so on (Guo, Hu, 2004).. The main representations are; to promulgate regulations, circulars

Causes of Administrative Monopoly
The increase of market competition is gradually growing up. However, due to historical reasons the
previous administrative system, official standard mechanisms of power began to seek a new variation.
Therefore, relying on the existing administrative monopoly power is not a very healthy market
mechanism to find new opportunities and operation model (Gottinger, 2013). The combined causes of
administrative monopoly include the following main points:
a. Government and enterprises associated together in a very long time, the government managed
enterprises, and companies also rely on the Government. When there is problem, the companies will
not deal with their own, but with the government which will pass government abuses in certainly
finding a proper excuse. Moreover, during the reformation, the government began to transform its
functions. However, the government authority to redefine the division of permissions and government
departments were unable to accurately grasp the people, which resulted in collision or disconnect
between one another thus resulting to administrative abuse of power (Gottinger,

Comparing Brazilian Culture To American Culture
Brazil is a country located in the North Eastern and Eastern section of South America. It is the fourth
largest country in the world and fifth most populous, holding over 200 million people, which also
accounts for one third of South America s entire population. (The World Factbook: Brazil 2018)
Because of its huge size, Brazil receives millions of tourists each year; which makes it important to
understand how to evaluate Brazilian culture and their way of communication. The culture of Brazil is
one of the most diverse cultures in the world due to its long history of colonizers and explorers. The
first European settlers to arrive in the now Brazilian area (A Brief History of Brazil, n.d.), were the
Portuguese led by Pedro Cabral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is the degree in
which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of power as acceptable (McCornack,
2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a
large power distance, which means that they believe that each person has a place in the social
hierarchy, that authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate and
actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture, n.d.). This is very
different to American culture because America was founded on challenging the government. Our
constitution was made so that we can challenge our government and keep its power in check, so the
government does not abuse its power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our
country. We have gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them
to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our mistakes. Another
dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how much they tolerate and accept
unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like
Brazil make rigid rules and set regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their
history of military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which means they
put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing on the words used alone.
Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that
the others know it to be an exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. This means that
Brazilians emphasize group identity, interpersonal harmony, and the well being

The Beat Generation By Allen Ginsberg
The Beat generation
The Beat Generation, a generation that was sick of its mainstream culture and decided to break down
the walls for individuality of thought, fashion, personal achievement, and poetry. At the end of World
War two, young adults in particularly the east and west coasts of America where left in questioning
thought about their own government as if it was really trying to do what s best for their people. And in
those upset minds a Beat Generation was born. A generation of tired young poets eager to open the
minds of others through their own thoughts and views. The most influential figures during the Beat
Generation where Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs. And although
their bold, expressive poetry led to great fame, this generation of poets gained a new fan base of critics
who thought their work was just a way to seek attention and was not seen as serious art.
Allen Ginsberg, born 1926 in Newark, New Jersey, unknowingly found himself creating a new
generation of people when he was attending Columbia University and met Jack Kerouac and William

Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard...
Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as
they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent
a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts,
Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries.
In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA)
Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in
Palestinian territory by Israel.
For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state
solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for Arab
(El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the population of
Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides, Jews claim that they
have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and they maintain there is a
tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their historic homeland (Gans 2008:
101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there were only 1/4 of Jews lived in
Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can compete the land (Lorimer and
Malloy 2002: 7). Besides, Palestinian thought the UNGA Resolution 181

Although all nine planets are a huge part of the solar system there s a lot more to the solar system than
the nine planets. According to scientist the Solar System started out as an enormous cloud of gas and
dust. Scientist believe that the cloud of dust and gas began to collapse under the weight of its own
gravity and it did. The matter that was kept within itself began moving in a giant circle and at the
center of the spinning cloud a tiny star began to form. The star eventually grew larger and collected
more dust and gas that collapsed into it. Farther from the center of the mass that was being formed
there was many smaller clumps of dust and gas that were also collapsing. The large cloud in the center

The Complete Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
There are certain countries that are ran through dictatorship, they abuse the power they have to the
country. In the story, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane Satrapi, she changes the view
towards Iran through occurrences and eastern fundamentalist ideas. In 1979, there was the Islamic
revolution in Iran. This year was the year that was going to have many changes to the country. In
chapter one of the Veil, there are characters and their freedom of expression being repressed as well as

Even the youngest women are resisting to wear the veil, and is a great example of how western
influence is victimizing women that are oppressed and are categorized into a suppressive group by
wearing the veil. Satrapi was stuck in two mind sets which were the liberal minded world of her
parents and her religiosity. Another crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I really didn t
know what to think about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family we were very
modern and avant garde (6.1). Satrapi had an important role when this big change happened. She was
an individual who had a strong character as a child. Her family sees being religious while not wearing
a veil compatible, the government believes the opposite. Satrapi foreshadows how at the end of the
story she leaves Iran but never escapes her homeland Iran.
The theme of repression is a never changing issue with Persepolis. The abuse of power happens
because there is a leader trying to run the country in a certain way. Satrapi illustrates how Iranians
were repressed in public spaces and by public figures. Satrapies mom was on the newspapers, because

Michelangelo s Madonna Of The Repairs
Many people who were involved in scholarly work have come to an agreement that much of the fine
artistic work in the Western countries can be traced from the Italian Renaissance, which occurred in
the period between 1400 and 1550. The period was characterized by architectural studies that involved
the ancient civilizations in which great architects, such as Masaccio, managed to develop chiaroscuro
that was about making objects appear in three dimensions by light and shade use. Therefore, the paper
seeks to revisit one of the sculptural artworks (Madonna of the Stairs) by Michelangelo in 1491.

African Americans first arrived to the United States as a crew on a pirate ship in the year 1619
(Bennett, 1992 as cited in Edelman Mandle, 2002). The American population saw these new
immigrants as an opportunity and captured many of the six million African immigrants and sold them

Alcohol is also problematic for the African American population. Alcohol is one of the most
significant problems among African Americans and leads to more violence, abuse, isolation and social
consequences among black women when compared to white women (Donatelle, 2003). African
Americans tend to have more of an alcohol problem as a population whole compared to whites but
tend to consume less alcohol overall (Donatelle, 2004). Excessive, long term alcohol intake can lead
to enhanced risk of developing cancer, a damaged central nervous system and harmful effects to the
cardiovascular system (Donatelle, 2004). Since African Americans are already at more risk for
developing cancer and cardiovascular disease, alcohol would enhance the risk of developing these
disease and thus would reduce their overall health. Another health issue that African Americans
struggle with is diabetes. Diabetes is a disease that involves the body producing high levels of blood
glucose levels (Powers, Dodd Noland, 2006). There are two types of diabetes; type 1 and type 2. Type
1 is known as the juvenile onset diabetes and caused by a lack of insulin production and secretion
while type 2 is characterized by deficiency of insulin production, decreased production of insulin and
increased insulin production and can usually be controlled by diet and exercise (Smeltzer Bare, 2003).

What Is The Theme Of Larkin And Abse
Both Larkin and Abse have composed verse which includes certain degrees of misery, be that as it
may, it s reasonable that they have distinctive perspectives on what causes the feeling. Charles Hall
said that it was ideal in Larkin s perspective, for everybody to leave themselves to their fates and
acknowledge the intractable void of their lives. Larkin appears to have the viewpoint that misery is for
the most part and crucial part of the human condition. Though Abse is for the most part hopeful, as a
rule his misery in his verse is subjective, brought about by uncommon minutes in the family, or
attention to mortality.
Larkin for the most part trusts that despondency lies in the desires of life and reality. One of his most
regular convictions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example of this is in his poem, A scene from married life. Generally the title suggests an
unremarkable and common place event, reluctant to give any information of the overall content of the
poem. Much like Larkin, Abse comments of the routine of his day, saying that nothing was happening
until it happened, the uneventful day therefore acts as a surprise for the argument that follows.
However, Abse writes about routine as a comfort, something he can rely on. It seems that he prefers
the routine over the uneventful occurrences. Although, Abse also has similar views to Larkin when he
mentions stuffy office block he seems to resent the idea of work and describes the commuters as
trapped , almost as though they are imprisoned by their job and the routine which prevents the
freedom of occasional spontaneous events. He uses the transferred epithet of brooding the represent
his own unhappiness as he thinks about the argument and the dank confusion of the grey clouds
indicative of his troubled marriage. He describes a marriage between the sea and the sky as a resentful
wedlock , possibly signifying the dominant verses the submissive in their relationship much like the
metaphor in the previous stanza where the early worm eats the dead bird. Abse s method of
rearranging a well known saying allows the reader to take that Abse, who considered himself the
dominant one of the pair, was in fact subjugated by his wife during this argument, embarrassing him.
Abse, in this poem, uses the method of self mockery in order to create an almost amusing scene of an
actually very serious moment. He describes his moment of despair similar to a B movie, which was a
poor quality movie known for its clichéd scenes and bad acting. He pictures his great climatic scene,

Chivalry in Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution...
Chivalry in Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France
...But the age of chivalry is gone...
Amidst a wealth of metaphors and apocalyptic maxims, this line is perhaps the most memorable from
Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France. He masterfully employs the concept of
chivalry to express his anti revolutionary sentiment, and he dramatically connects it to images of land,
sex, birth and money to express the widespread disorder that accompanies a loss of chivalry. Nowhere
is this idea more explicit than in the following passage:
... But the age of chivalry is gone. That of sophisters, oeconomists,
and calculators, has succeeded and the glory of Europe is extinguished for
ever. Never, never more, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What it does imply is that the glory and bond of Europe as a conglomerate in which England and
France are leaders may have been severed.
Furthermore, it is unlikely that Burke believes either of the aforementioned statements. Subsequent
lines in the essay like, ...we still bear the stamp of our forefathers and We have not (as I conceive) lost
the generosity and dignity of the fourteenth century... suggest that English society still clings to its
heritage and manners to some extent (18). Additionally, one cannot overlook the prophetic nature of
Burke s claims; he predicts what will happen if chivalry is lost. He and the reader both recognize that
chivalry survives at least in the minds of men and sometimes even in the practice of men (like Burke
who acts chivalrous by defending chivalry), but also because Burke s motivation for writing his essay
would be significantly diminished if the revivification of chivalry were an impossibility. Similarly, if
he truly believed that the glory of Europe were gone forever and the ties permanently severed, it is less
likely that he would choose a Frenchman as the recipient of his philosophical letter.
To comprehend Burke s argument based on chivalry, one must ascertain the meaning that chivalry
holds for him. The language of the passage at hand unveils terms such as loyalty, dignified obedience
and proud

Barabas And Hamlet Research Paper
Christopher Marlowe is well known for his tragic Marlovian character, the morally ambiguous hero.
Barabas of The Jew of Malta is a prime example. His character is greedy, ruthless, and the murderer of
the citizens of Malta. Yet the audience still roots for this character as he commits sin after sin in the
name of justice. He is ambitious and charismatic, and unjust circumstances earn him sympathy.
Shakespeare, inspired by the idea of a villainous hero, creates a marlovian character with a twist. The
character of Hamlet exhibits the same qualities of the Marlovian character, but lacks to drive to

His ploy of madness is nothing but a delay of action. Hamlet is highly aware of the severity of the
crime he is planning to commit and bides his time in taking any formal action. His hesitation comes
from his awareness of his own moral ambiguity. Hamlet expresses contempt for his cowardliness but
admits hesitation as the ghost, may be the devil...perhaps out of my weakness and my melancholy, as
he is very potent with such spirits, abuses me to damn me (Shakespeare 2.2.628 632). With this he
acknowledges the possible consequence on his soul for his crime. Once Hamlet gains the proof he
hunted for of Claudius guilt, he continues with his excuses. Hamlet believes if Claudius is killed while
he is praying his soul will be forgiven and go straight to heaven. The Danish prince claims this is hire
and salary, not revenge (Shakespeare 3.3.84), therefore losing an uncomplicated opportunity to kill
Claudius. Due to his hesitation throughout the play, enough time passes for a murder plot to be
conspired against him. This leads to his ultimate downfall but also springs him into action. In the final
scene, Hamlet has only moments to live and morality is no longer of value. Here he is at his most

Madness and Insanity in Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
Hamlet and Insanity
William Shakespeare s creation of the character of Hamlet within the tragedy of that name left open
the question of whether the madness of the protagonist is entirely feigned or not. This essay will treat
this aspect of the drama.
George Lyman Kittredge in the Introduction to The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, explains
the lack of success with Hamlet s pretended insanity, and in so doing he implies that the madness is
entirely feigned and not real:
The necessity for some device like the play within the play is due to the failure of Hamlet s assumed

Hamlet s first words in the play say that Claudius is A little more than kin and less than kind,
indicating a dissimilarity in values between the new king and himself introducing into the story a
psychological problem, a refusal to conform, which lays the groundwork for, or previews, the
upcoming pretended madness. As the future king of Denmark, the hero is expected to maintain a good

Sexism In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein (1818), the characterization of women is based on the rigid gender
division in eighteenth century Geneva. Shelley depicts the social status of women in contemporary
London by presenting the female characters as ineffective to the public sphere. Male characters in
Frankenstein are categorized as scientists, politicians and explorers, leaving women confined to the
home as mere companions, wives and often caregivers. By upholding women s views of the familial,
Shelley illustrates the patriarchal social system, which favor men over women. The division highlights

their policies reflecting the current times and situations. It should be mandatory to implement sexual
harassment polices and brief the employees of such policies.
On the other hand sexual harassment can be blown out of proportion. Some complaints that are made
are not always reasonable. An extensive investigation should be done to make sure that it is legit and
the complaint is not unfair. Perception from the receiver may be distorted from the actual meaning.
Some ways to determine the complaint is really constituted as a complaint are:
1. See if the behavior or act is constructed to be unwelcome, offensive or intimidating.
2. Make sure that there is a trend of the same or numerous complaints being reported.
3. Confirm that there was any implied or expressed sexual favors concerning the job retention,
promotion or any other issues benefiting the organization.

massive security breach that occurred in early 2004. In this incident, a former temporary employee at
Softbank BB gave partners a user name and password he had been using when he was working for
Softbank BB to access the company computer systems remotely, and the personal information of at
least 4.6 million customers of the Yahoo!BB service was accessed and used in an effort to extort
approximately 2 billion yen from Softbank.
This case is the first private lawsuit to be filed in connection with this incident. Claims for 100,000

Religious Beliefs In The American Colonies
The definition of religious liberty differs in every colony. Every colony has a different belief some
believe in god and others don t, but no one was free to be choose on what religion people wanted to
follow. In the American colonies were largely non Catholics. Although some other religions were
practiced in most colonies, the Puritans in Massachusetts established a new law that no all religions
could be practice. Pennsylvania was the first to follow those rules from court. Spanish colonies were
Catholics, there was no other religion to follow. When people got tired and tried to protested about a
new religion they would be persecuted and would send them to another place. French colonies, in their
Colonial life was some large Catholic believers. Religious beliefs of the Dutch vary. ... Show more

Anne Hutchinson believe that everyone should attend to church. She opened her house for people that
believe in Christ, she had read the bible in her house for all people who arrived. She then had to go to
court, the court believe something wrong happened. Court let her continue with her private reunions
on her house. People seemed to be better when they accompanied Anne to read the bible. In the year
1645 the English settlers were mainly Puritans who came to American in pursuit for liberty. Religious
acceptance and uncontrolled human conduct were not part of their freedom. John Winthrop governor
of the Puritans Colony at Massachusetts Bay came up with the idea of two different kinds of liberty.
His described natural liberty as something responsible for making the man evil and immoral because
this liberty let him to do what he wants to do good or evil , there was nothing bad by making our

A Person s World View May Not Be My Worldview
A person s world view may not be my worldview, so how do I differ what a worldview is? Along with,
how is a person s worldview different from a christian worldview? When I read an encyclopedia the
definition might look like this, a person s specific bias or opinion on things that influence how they
look at the world and the things around them from what is there to what is expected to be there. Now
that I have a definition of a worldview, what is a christian worldview? With the article A Christian
Worldview there are five points that make up a christian worldview. First God exists and the world
was created by him. Secondly humans who fully believe in God have enjoyment to look forward to
after death because they can be with God, but everyone has a soul and spirit to go somewhere after
they die. Third science and metaphysics are not the only things that explain a big bang theory and
everything that exists today. Fourth is epistemology is not the only thing that helps humans perceive
real senses. Last there is a difference between objective morality and subjective morality along with
the Bible being a source for christians to follow God s will for our life (Drury 3).
Likewise with the five points to a person s worldview and a christian worldview how can all citizens
legally choose not to give life to an unborn child, but not let people end their life when they are
terminally ill, or go through extreme pain for the rest of their life. Currently there are four states that

To What Extent Can There Be If A Baking Soda Is...
Question What will the outcome be if the amount of baking soda is substituted with an equal amount
of baking powder in a standard chocolate chip cookie?
Knowledge Probe
Scientific Knowledge:
From previous experiences with baking cookies we are aware that if you accidentally use baking
powder instead of soda, the cookies will increase in thickness and will result in a sponge like texture.
Baking soda and baking powder are similar, but have different reactions to the ingredients in baking
cookies. Baking soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate, and once it meets heat, carbon dioxide is
formed. The carbon dioxide is what gives rise to cookies and other baked goods. Baking powder, on
the other hand, is a mixture of baking soda, powdered acid, and cornstarch (Baking 101: The

We concluded that only one trial is not sufficient enough to provide an accurate claim. It is not
accurate because no measurement is precise so Byars cookie compared to ours will be different. By
conducting more than one trial we would have many of the same cookies to compare their general
features to Byars cookie. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking powder for
baking soda or if he did not.
Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the varying
temperatures of the oven used. Because measurements are not precise, it is very unlikely that two
cookies will be exactly the same, making it harder to reach an accurate claim. During the experiment
we discovered that the oven had been set to a lower temperature than the 375° F specified in the
procedures. This caused cookies to become undercooked without realizing is as to the fact we were
following the procedure of leaving the cookie in only for nine to eleven minutes.
What would you do differently next

  • 4. The Problem Of Crime Rate Abstract Crime is a big problem in the world. Many believe that nothing can be done to prevent it. The crime rates are increasing rapidly all around the world. Crime is not easy to completely remove from our society. For many years Scientist and psychologists have argued over whether upbringing forms of a child s behavior or whether they are born with a personality disorder, or could it be the way their brain is set up or their body type? Society may never really know all the causes of this criminal behavior. With all the disagreement going on with the subject on the causes of criminals , the controversial question would be Are criminals born, or made? There are so many reasons behind the increased crime rate. I believe to figure out why the crime rate is rapidly increasing, it is important to figure out the main cause and treat it. With proper measures like straight laws, sufficient punishments, good moral and education, we may be able to avoid the crimes to a certain extent. In today society, crime rate is increasingly on the rise. The crimes that are being caused are stealing, poverty, desperation, kidnap, rape, robbery, physical fighting, substance abuse, and many other crimes that are not mentioned. • 5. Theme Of Dreams In A Midsummer Night s Dream A dream is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occuring in a person s mind during sleep. Love is a strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. Love and dreams go hand in hand and in A Midsummer Night s Dream, love takes on many of the characteristics of dreams and the two are almost indiscernible. Some characteristics of dreams are nightmarish, possibly peaceful, short lived, exaggerated, able to foretell the future, supernatural, uncontrollable, and that they have no chronological time. Mainly though, dreams are a way for people to picture fantasies and play out uncontrollable actions without fear of consequences. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, love is a key recurring topic that can be either good or bad. Love is constantly changing or being manipulated and an example of this love is when Oberon, the king of the Fairies, gives his wife, Titania, the queen of the Fairies, a potion that makes her fall in love with an ass (77). Oberon does this act out of spite because his wife does not want to give him a changeling boy, an ugly idiot, stupid, fairy baby left in the human world, as a servant. Oberon instructs his personal fairy servant, Puck, to give a potion to Oberon s wife and make her fall in love with an ass. There are two dreams in A Midsummer Night s Dream that critics say are the only two that really matter. One of these dreams is done by Hermia, the daughter of a nobleman of Athens (class notes). Since the Salvation Army is an international charity that helps people, not only across the United States but in many countries as well, it was hard to find an organization that was only in one other state that someone could compare it to because of its magnitude. Instead, this paper will focus on an organization that was on the same level as the Salvation Army s as well as similar to its cause. Feeding America is a national charity that helps to feed the hungry across the nation. However, this paper will focus on one of its locations in Fort Pierce, Florida, called Treasure Coast Food Bank. Both of these organizations offer similar aide to those in need and have the same goals of feeding America s hungry. ( The 50 Largest U.S. Charities , n.d.) A lot of these statistics show that Feeding America has higher percentages in most areas compared to the Salvation Army. • 7. Security Issues in International Relations Are Best... Security Issues are Most Effectively Addressed by a Neo Realist Approach to International Relations. Discuss. Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in the past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in the past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most effectively addresses security issues within International Relations. This essay seeks to argue that although, at one time it may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms (Martin, 1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into the development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to resuming of nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs when all states stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate many different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes powerfully tied together trade, finance and communication. • 9. The Beauty Of Dystopia By Aldous Huxley The beauty of dystopia is that it lets us vicariously experience future worlds but we still have the power to change our own. (Ally Condie). Dystopian Literature is intriguing as it exposes the reader to sometimes unconventional concepts and can also serve as a warning to what may become of society if the wrong path is chosen. In literary works of Brave New World, there are many warnings that the author Aldous Huxley establishes through events that take place in the civilized world. In this dystopian society we can observe that science is the thriving fragment that holds society together but it seems to demoralize and mitigate human morals and values. It is also apparent that love and family are non existent in this society as sex is meaningless and having a baby is considered a big shame. Some literature such as the works of Shakespeare and holy books are banned in society in order eliminate outbursts from people who become too curious and possess a threat to social stability. Science is important and beneficial to any thriving society. In this dystopian society science is what keeps it together and functioning the way that the world controllers would would like it to be. Science is used in a way that mitigates what a human should be through its oppressive powers. People are oppressed through the taking of soma which is a mass produced, government approved hallucinogen that relaxes the person and gives them the sense of happiness when it is not truly there. ... Historically is follows the main guidelines that were understood for the form. Harmonically, is progresses like expected. There are a few surprises here and there, but they are typical for Mozart s compositions, especially his sonatas of the 18th century. In all, it makes a very interesting piece of work, especially with so much contrast within it. The formal structure of the first movement is sonata form. Not only is this evident in the title but it is very clear after an analysis of the piece has been done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The No. 12 F Major sonata is a great example. The first movement in itself has seven different melodic devices. The harmony tends to stay within the realm of normal for the 1700 s. There are places, though, where Mozart again drifts from common practices. Mozart was fairly well known for his inventive bridge sections during the expositions of his sonatas. In these bridge sections, Mozart would begin a theme on v (minor), ♭III, III, VI, or V that eventually creates the false sense of having transposed to the dominant V key. Often Mozart would proceed to the tonic sounding V with an augmented sixth chord. He does just this in Sonata number 12, as shown in the example on the top of the next page in measures sixty four through sixty seven. VI7 ii7 V7 Ger+6 V Mozart begins a harmony on a Major sixth chord and leads into a V with a seventh chord, giving a dominant to tonic feel. He further gives this effect by leading into another V with the augment sixth German chord that has been filled out with a perfect fifth and a major third above the A♭ bass. Though the augmented sixth chord is voiced unorthodoxly, it gives the same effect. The chord structure of this work is very functional. In most circumstances, regional administrative monopoly includes compulsory administrative transactions, executive branch interference in business operations and abuse of a dominant company administrative behavior (Schneider, 2009). Administrative monopoly includes; using illegal means to override the executive division, block market for instance; foreign cars are restricted to enter the city by legislative region; companies using monopoly privileges conferred by the Government in order to increase barriers for competitors, reduce service levels, increase products price, and so on (Guo, Hu, 2004).. The combined causes of administrative monopoly include the following main points: a. Government and enterprises associated together in a very long time, the government managed enterprises, and companies also rely on the Government. (The World Factbook: Brazil 2018) Because of its huge size, Brazil receives millions of tourists each year; which makes it important to understand how to evaluate Brazilian culture and their way of communication. The first dimension in Hofstede s cultural dimensions is the power distance. This is the degree in which people in a particular culture view the unequal distribution of power as acceptable (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a much higher belief in power distance than the United States. In Brazil there is a large power distance, which means that they believe that each person has a place in the social hierarchy, that authorities should not be challenged, that hierarchy and inequality are appropriate and actually benefit the society (Comparing Brazilian Culture to American Culture, n.d.). This is very different to American culture because America was founded on challenging the government. Our constitution was made so that we can challenge our government and keep its power in check, so the government does not abuse its power. Most Americans also believe that inequality is bad for our country. We have gone through many periods of inequality in this country and we look back on them to see what we did wrong and how we can do better now as to not repeat our mistakes. Another dimension is the uncertainty avoidance, Cultures vary in how much they tolerate and accept unpredictability (McCornack, 2015). Brazil has a high uncertainty avoidance culture. Cultures like Brazil make rigid rules and set regulations to try and cut down on uncertainty. This can be seen in their history of military leaders as leaders of the country. Brazil is a high context society, which means they put a strong emphasis on how the message is said rather than focusing on the words used alone. Examples of this include Brazilians will sometimes exaggerate a point but it will be done in a way that the others know it to be an exaggeration. Brazil is also a collectivistic culture. • 19. The Beat Generation By Allen Ginsberg The Beat generation The Beat Generation, a generation that was sick of its mainstream culture and decided to break down the walls for individuality of thought, fashion, personal achievement, and poetry. At the end of World War two, young adults in particularly the east and west coasts of America where left in questioning thought about their own government as if it was really trying to do what s best for their people. And in those upset minds a Beat Generation was born. A generation of tired young poets eager to open the minds of others through their own thoughts and views. The most influential figures during the Beat Generation where Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs. And although their bold, expressive poetry led to great fame, this generation of poets gained a new fan base of critics who thought their work was just a way to seek attention and was not seen as serious art. Allen Ginsberg, born 1926 in Newark, New Jersey, unknowingly found himself creating a new generation of people when he was attending Columbia University and met Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs. There they exchanged and shared common interests and later would become prominent figures in the Beat Movement. • 20. Why Is a Solution to the Israel-Palestine Conflict so Hard... Israeli Palestinian conflict could be described as a clash that between Israelis and Palestinian Arabs as they attempted to compete the same piece of land briefly (Dowty 2008:1, 4). The reasons that prevent a solution to the Israeli Palestinian problem will be discussed and will be divided into three parts, Israeli reasons, Palestinian reasons and the common problem between two countries. In terms of Palestinian reasons, there are three reasons, the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 181, consequence that Israel was established in 1948 and settlement policy is enforced in Palestinian territory by Israel. For the UNGA Resolution 181, Israeli occupied more territory than Palestinians. In 1947, two state solution was passed in UNGA, Palestine was divided into two states, one for Jewish and one for Arab (El Hasan 2010: 55). However, Arabs occupied 43 45.5% of land in Palestine even the population of Arabs in Palestine was 2/3 (Soderblom 2003). This was unfair to them. Besides, Jews claim that they have sovereignty on Palestine as their ancestor have moved to Palestine and they maintain there is a tie between Jews and Palestine for more than 3,700 years, so it is their historic homeland (Gans 2008: 101; Brown 2011: 139). In contrast, Palestinians argue that there were only 1/4 of Jews lived in Palestine before 70 AD, this does not mean that Jews lived there can compete the land (Lorimer and Malloy 2002: 7). Another crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I really didn t know what to think about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family we were very modern and avant garde (6.1). However, Abse writes about routine as a comfort, something he can rely on. It seems that he prefers the routine over the uneventful occurrences. Although, Abse also has similar views to Larkin when he mentions stuffy office block he seems to resent the idea of work and describes the commuters as trapped , almost as though they are imprisoned by their job and the routine which prevents the freedom of occasional spontaneous events. Amidst a wealth of metaphors and apocalyptic maxims, this line is perhaps the most memorable from Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France. He masterfully employs the concept of chivalry to express his anti revolutionary sentiment, and he dramatically connects it to images of land, sex, birth and money to express the widespread disorder that accompanies a loss of chivalry. What it does imply is that the glory and bond of Europe as a conglomerate in which England and France are leaders may have been severed. Furthermore, it is unlikely that Burke believes either of the aforementioned statements. Subsequent lines in the essay like, ...we still bear the stamp of our forefathers and We have not (as I conceive) lost the generosity and dignity of the fourteenth century... suggest that English society still clings to its heritage and manners to some extent (18). Additionally, one cannot overlook the prophetic nature of Burke s claims; he predicts what will happen if chivalry is lost. He and the reader both recognize that chivalry survives at least in the minds of men and sometimes even in the practice of men (like Burke who acts chivalrous by defending chivalry), but also because Burke s motivation for writing his essay would be significantly diminished if the revivification of chivalry were an impossibility. Similarly, if he truly believed that the glory of Europe were gone forever and the ties permanently severed, it is less likely that he would choose a Frenchman as the recipient of his philosophical letter. Other settings also lend credit to the film, the tackiness of Bruiser Stone s office, the peace and beauty represented at the jewellry store where Riker is employed amidst visits to the hospital, and the dark and secretive cinema, where Baylor and Riker share a tender moment. All settings are effectively and appropriately chosen and are very apt in relevance to the storyline of the film. The storyline is one of the most crucial parts of a successful film, though the actors who portray their characters realistically are the absolute essence of the production. • 41. A Person s World View May Not Be My Worldview A person s world view may not be my worldview, so how do I differ what a worldview is? Along with, how is a person s worldview different from a christian worldview? When I read an encyclopedia the definition might look like this, a person s specific bias or opinion on things that influence how they look at the world and the things around them from what is there to what is expected to be there. Now that I have a definition of a worldview, what is a christian worldview? With the article A Christian Worldview there are five points that make up a christian worldview. First God exists and the world was created by him. Secondly humans who fully believe in God have enjoyment to look forward to after death because they can be with God, but everyone has a soul and spirit to go somewhere after they die. Third science and metaphysics are not the only things that explain a big bang theory and everything that exists today. Fourth is epistemology is not the only thing that helps humans perceive real senses. Last there is a difference between objective morality and subjective morality along with the Bible being a source for christians to follow God s will for our life (Drury 3). Likewise with the five points to a person s worldview and a christian worldview how can all citizens legally choose not to give life to an unborn child, but not let people end their life when they are terminally ill, or go through extreme pain for the rest of their life. By conducting more than one trial we would have many of the same cookies to compare their general features to Byars cookie. It would be easier to tell if in fact Byars did substitute baking powder for baking soda or if he did not. Errors that could not be eliminated includes the fact that measurements are not precise, and the varying temperatures of the oven used. Because measurements are not precise, it is very unlikely that two cookies will be exactly the same, making it harder to reach an accurate claim. During the experiment we discovered that the oven had been set to a lower temperature than the 375° F specified in the procedures. This caused cookies to become undercooked without realizing is as to the fact we were following the procedure of leaving the cookie in only for nine to eleven minutes.
