Essay about Ideologies, Narrative, Stereotypes and Discourses
According to French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, a habitus is referring to a person s way of thinking,
acting, and behaving. A habitus is a structure that helps a person comprehend and deal with society. It
can be simply seen as a merger of society and the individual. (Wysocka, Paulina, 2013). Habitus is
both a structured structure the effect of the actions of, and our interactions with, others and a
structuring structure it suggests and constrains our future actions (Bourdieu, 1992). In other words,
habitus is both the embodiment of our social location (i.e., class, ethnicity, race, sexuality, gender,
generation, and nationality) (Noble amp; Watkins, 2003) and the structure of social relations that
generate and give significance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According Oullette and Hay, shows like the biggest loser (and any other program based on changing
individual s lifestyles) work by shift blame from the concept of political government intervention to a
government of the self (Ouellette, L. amp; Hay, J, 2008) Ideology is basically a system of meaning
that helps define and explain the world and that makes value judgements about the world (Croteau,
David, Hoynes, William, Milan, Stefania, 2012). Ideology is related to but broader then concepts such
as world view, belief system and values. Ideologies do not necessarily reflect reality accurately but
often they present a distorted version of the world. (Croteau, David, Hoynes, William, Milan, Stefania,
2012). Karl Marx believes that the ruling class control ideology and used a trick to create an illusion
of fairness and harmony (Lane, Dr.Karen, 2013) This plainly brings into question human agency and
free will however one can argue that those influenced still have the ability to change it (Lane,
Dr.Karen, 2013). Italian theorist Antonio Gramsci argued that cultural domination is never fully
achieved and that audience awareness is evident but again cultural domination is always in contention
(Lane, Dr.Karen, 2013) Gramscian thesis of Hegemony also argued that ruling groups can maintain
their power through force, consent, or a combination of the two (Croteau, David, Hoynes, William,

Endocrine System And Non-Steroid Hormones
Then Endocrine System
The endocrine system consists of a variety of glands and clusters of hormone secreting cells in various
organs throughout the body. These glands produce chemicals called hormones, which are secreted
directly into the bloodstream. They determine a number of things, including when you re hungry, your
weight, how you handle stress, and even how well you sleep. The body produces many different
hormones, which can either be classified as steroid or non steroid. Steroid hormones are synthesized
from cholesterol, including male and female sex hormones, as well as aldosterone. Non steroid
hormones, also known as protein based hormones, are synthesized from amino acids. Protein based
hormones are further divided into protein ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They produce sex hormones which stimulates the production of sperm in males, and eggs in females.
Sex hormones also influence the development of secondary sex characteristics during puberty. The
ovaries secrete estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen promotes the development of female
characteristics and contributes to the development of the reproductive system. Progesterone is secreted
after ovulation, and helps maintain uterine lining during pregnancy. The testes secrete testosterone,
which triggers the development of male sexual characteristics, and sustains sperm

Synthesis Of Results Of Eq 5d Utilities Across Different...
Synthesis of results
We conducted meta analyses of EQ 5D utilities across different GOLD levels, based on an inverse
variance approach. The pooled estimates for EQ 5D measurements of mild, moderate, severe, and very
severe COPD are 0.821 (95% CI: 0.814 0.828), 0.760 (95% CI: 0.756 0.765), 0.727 (95% CI: 0.722
0.732), and 0.681 (95% CI: 0.675 0.686). Results based on visual analogue scale demonstrated a
similar trend. There was insufficient data for meta analysis on the utilities across different disease
severity levels according to time trade off and standard gamble.
Discrete choice
In addition to utility of outcomes ranging from 0 to 1, we also included other reports on the
importance of outcomes. Willingness to pay is another indication of utility by monetary values.
Researchers also used forced choice techniques, discrete choice exercise/conjoint analysis, or
probability trade off to elicit the outcome importance information. Additionally, some studies were
based on research self developed scales or questionnaires. In total, we identified 74 reports to suggest
outcome importance information other than utility of outcomes ranging from 0 to 1.
Forced choice and Preference trials
Of all the 74 reports, 39 of them used a forced choice question. By forced choice, we mean the
researcher provided a set of options to ask the participants to choose from, or to indicate they would
accept or reject one option. Of all these 39 studies, 35 studies were on treatment itself or

Ethnographic Report On Medical Anthropology
Originally I was planning on doing my ethnographic project on an area within medical anthropology
or on the Exclusive Brethren. However, after attending one week tutorial I have decided that these
topics are too broad and may be too difficult to research within the given time frame. For instance, my
anthropological interests with medical anthropology lie around how indigenous groups use their
natural environment . In particular, I am interested in the difference between western society and how
we go to a doctor and chemist when we are sick and how some indigenous societies use their natural
environment, such as plants from the forest to heal people. However, to cover this topic, I would find
it significantly hard in New Zealand, as I don t

The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights
Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal and
have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today,
it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African
Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to
make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she
had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color.
Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated
adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up
only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was
important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This quote shaped Addams
whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as her and promoting rights
for all people. Another time when Addams was just a little girl, her family helped African Americans
escape from slavery using the Underground Railroad. This was one of the first times she had seen how
African Americans were treated by most of the American population, and how dreadful their ... Show

the final analysis, it can be said that Jane Addams got involved at a very young and did many things

Starbucks External Analysis
SWOT Opportunities One of the opportunities presented to Starbucks is the growth in coffee market.
In the United States, specialty coffee sector accounts for approximately 15% of the total retail coffee
market which is equivalent to $21billion. In 2005, the retail coffee market was valued to be around
$23billion and specialty coffee accounted for nearly 45% of the market and was still expected to grow.
Starbuck has a 40% market share in the specialty coffee sector which provides an indication that

tactics, Starbucks hope the following expansion would create a higher barrier to entry which would

Contracts For A Contract Agreement Essay
A contract is a promise or a set of promises that one party makes to another and that can be enforced
using law. Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling
or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally
binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms
to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes
legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore,
an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer.
This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial
transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding.
Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in
manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of
the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then
that is not a contract. It may be subject to contract which means that the terms of the relationship will
become legally binding once the parties sign the subsequent contract. When the interaction is subject
to contract, either of the parties is free to exit the negotiations at

in the telemetry process including the managers, nurses, monitor technicians and clinical engineers.
This group selection afforded us an opportunity to share successful approaches, discuss barriers and
create specific strategies acknowledging variation and where in the process steps it could be
eliminated. Multiple barriers in the process were readily identified and the team would meet on a bi
weekly for several months to discuss each process step and decided on countermeasures. An example
of one risk recognized was an interruption in the ECG data recorded between the emergency
department and the data recorded in the telemetry units. This step revealed a possible loss of data and
possible incorrect patient identification of data upon arrival to the unit. The solution was to involve
clinical engineering to create a seamless record for recording the cardiac ECG rhythms from the
emergency room to the inpatient bed. The team scored each FMEA step, agreed upon the risk score

The National Average Cost Of A Wedding Cake
The national average cost of a wedding cake is about four hundred sixty six dollars in the United
States. Wedding cakes began as once a simple tradition of weddings. Now they are one of the biggest
elements of someone s big day. Wedding cakes have been influenced by society and several other
aspects that have immensely improved its appearance and quality. Over several time periods, culture
and new technique have allowed the wedding cake to evolve to what it is today. Wedding cakes have
grown and developed from two main ethnical traditions. One of the traditions can be traced back to
the Ancient Roman Empire. Around 1900 years ago, the Romans began baking wheat and salt into

How Does Quoyle Create Tension In The Shipping News
Throughout chapters 17 22 of The Shipping News, Quoyle learns about and reflects on the unsavoury
past of his family and comes to peace with it, allowing him to move forward in his journey of building
self confidence, by being resilient, opinionated and assertive in his expression of his opinions. Quoyle
becomes more self assured and solid, and no longer sees himself, as a distant figure (Proulx 2) when
he chooses to resist being negatively influenced, emotionally or otherwise, by the discovery that his
ancestors were pirates. On the contrary, he is disgusted by their ways, a feeling that distances him
from external influences. He describes his family as Ancestors whose filthy blood ran in his veins,

well as frustration. Disgust and frustration often stem from disagreeing with another person. Quoyle
did not feel these emotions in the past because he did not feel that he had the right to disagree with
others due to his lack of esteem for his own thoughts. In this section, Quoyle disagrees with and is

Kierkegaard s An Age Of Dispassionate Reflection
Soren Kierkegaard, in his essay, the Present Age, writes about two ages the passionate age and the
present age: an age of dispassionate reflection. Kierkegaard believes the present age to be centered on
reflection (deliberation, representation, anticipation), which substitutes for decisive action. The present
age, according to Kierkegaard is characterized by an unhappy objectivity, in which the individual has
become leveled down and loses himself as part of a crowd. One aspect of this unhappy objectivity is
that our age is an age of reflection rather than of passion. Kierkegaard suggests, the most dangerous, if
also the most respectable of all diseases is to admire in public what is considered unimportant in
private since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is dangerous because in the act of doing so, we lose our true selves in the process. Kierkegaard
strongly believes in the idea of individuality. If individuals (as individuals) take it upon themselves to
experience first hand meaningful action and informed opinion (which is risky) they will gain
something precious. Yet, many would rather stay in the safety (and effortlessness) of the public and
live meaninglessly.
Kierkegaard uses the example of the skater to demonstrate his assertion of the most dangerous of all
diseases . The skater, on a frozen lake with dangerously thin ice, sees a jewel in the distance. In the
passionate age, he argues, the public would cheer and support the skater as he made efforts to reach
the jewel. They would worry for him and show concern at any sign of danger. However, in an age
absent of passion, the crowds would agree on the fact that it was unreasonable and not worthwhile to
engage in such a dangerous activity. In addition, they would praise themselves for being clever and
practical for figuring this out. The qualities of being daring and enthusiastic for something an
individual may be passionate about is malformed into a feat of skill, in which people are encouraged
to surrender to the most dangerous of all diseases : to admire in public what is

Ponzi Schemes Effects
Although a clear red flag, the alluring promise of high, consistent returns continues to persuade rookie
and seasoned investors to unknowingly invest in Ponzi schemes. Coined in the early twentieth century
after a Boston fraudster named Charles Ponzi, a Ponzi scheme is a form of investment fraud, in which
newly invested money is used to repay existing investors (Ponzi Scheme, n.d.). Since the money is not
actually invested, there is no way for Ponzi organizers to generate money for their clientele, which is
why Ponzi schemes quickly collapse when recruitment stalls or large numbers of investors decide to
cash out (Ponzi Scheme, n.d.). Despite being a white collar crime, Ponzi schemes have incalculable
effects on society. For example, a 1996 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ponzi schemes are non discriminatory crimes; they effect large corporation and blue collar individuals
alike. After the collapse of a Ponzi scheme, large corporations may find themselves out of millions of
dollars and retirees may no longer possess the capital essential for retirement. Other undesirable
effects of a Ponzi include, return of any principal or interest received by investors if the Ponzi
organizer s creditors file for bankruptcy, further financial strain on investors if they must obtain the
counsel of a tax adviser, and public shame if records concerning the Ponzi are publicized revealing the
identity of investors (Benson, 2009). In addition, non profit intuitions may be forced to return any
charitable gifts or donations received from a schemer (Benson, 2009). Such was the case for Middle
Tennessee University, after a bankruptcy trustee demanded the return of a $900,000 donations gifted
to the university by a Ponzi schemer named Robert McLean (Benson, 2009). Therefore, it is important
for future investors to do their due diligence when decided to invest their money. For starters, they can
go through a checklist of red flags to determine if the investment is a Ponzi. According to Investor.gov
Ponzi red flags include, high returns with very little risk, unlicensed sellers, unregistered investments,
secretive complex strategies, and paperwork issues (Ponzi Scheme, n.d.). Furthermore, a potential
investor may want to seek the advisement of a CPA to ensure the sincerity of their

Betrayal in Maus Essay
During World War II and the Holocaust, there was not only mistrust for the government but there was
also plenty of mistrust for prior friends and neighbors. In the graphic novel, Maus (Volume I and II)
Vladek Spiegelman makes it very clear to his son, Artie, that one cannot count on their friends. He
makes the point that in time of hardship, friends will abandon you quite quickly. Vladek says, Friends?
Your friends...if you lock them together in a room with no food for a week...then you could see what it
is, friends! (Maus, VI. 5 6). Throughout the novel, we see examples of this gloomy point proven
repeatedly. In the first volume of the novel, Haskel, a cousin of the family and a chief of the Jewish

The Spiegelman family and their comrades were trying to be compassionate and help someone that
they identified with, someone who, through a shared desperate situation (or so they thought) they tried
to befriend. Unfortunately, he was so quick to turn his back on the people who had treated him so
kindly. Yet again, it becomes evident that no one can be trusted when the prisoners are being marched
from the concentration camp due to the Nazis fear that the United States and allies soon would
discover their operation. The Jewish prisoners arrange a plan with some of the German guards
marching alongside them. The prisoners pay the guards with the agreement that when they try to run
the German soldiers will fire over their heads and not kill them. When the time came to run, the
prisoners break away from the pack and start towards the woods, however, the same soldiers that
promised not to shoot them shot them in the back as they ran (Maus V II 82 83). The Germans that
were supposed to be the friends of the Jews and help them escape took their gold and did not hesitate
to shoot them in the back as they ran. Fortunately, for everyone s sake, not everyone was only out to
save himself or herself. In contrast to the many examples where betrayal was the norm there are
several examples of friends who were genuine and helped to make the situation better for someone

Comparing Islam And Radical Islam
Islam and radical Islam are a hot topic among media outlets and dinner tables, often being confused
that they are either two different things or derivatives of early Christianity. The fact remains that Islam
and radical Islam are one and the same and, though there may be some early similarities to the Old
Testament, Islam and Christianity are as different as the clouds in the sky to a deep, barbed pit.
Though I will not be covering every facet that exists between the Bible and the Qur an, I will be
covering the so called difference between radical Islam and its moderate counterpart, abrogation and
how it works within Islam, differences between Jesus and Muhammad as figure heads, and the ethical
behavior between neighbors in relation to Islamic and Christian beliefs. Radical Islam is a relatively
new term that mainstream media, and empathizers of the Muslim faith, have adopted to defend the
ideals of Islam without calling it Islam. Radical, in this sense, would mean either extreme or differing
from the majority of the Muslim population. However, if we take a look into the roots of Islam and the
laws put in place by Muhammad hundreds of years ago, we notice that the moderates are the true
anomaly, as detailed in the non partisan work Is the Quran Hate Propaganda (TheReligionofPeace
[TROP] 2002 2006). The Qur an lists several books pertaining to the rules of government, military,
and social laws of the Muslim people, however, it can be distilled down into three

Pharmacists now experience more lawsuits than ever before due to healthcare facility errors that were

have worked in a pharmacy over many years and have seen many mistakes happen with a good and
bad ending. The two most common mistakes that are not the fault of the pharmacist are giving the
wrong prescription to the wrong customer at check out and not following HIPPA standards. There are
many cases where customers can have common names and are given the wrong prescription due to
lack of verification. I have personally heard of a customer calling back because they realized they
have the wrong medication. An instance of such could go in a very bad direction if a customer takes
the medication and causes health problems or death, which would result in a malpractice lawsuit.
Although it was not the pharmacist error because it was an employee working under the pharmacist,
the pharmacist could lose their license and much money due to this mistake. As long as the pharmacist
has professional liability insurance this mistake would be covered and licenses would not be
threatened to be taken. Another main area for possible lawsuits would be disregarding or not following
HIPPA regulations properly. In

Pursuing Sex In Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress
Kelcie Horner
Professor D Angelo
English 102
December 3, 2017 Pursuing Sex
The speaker in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell is a shady man that is trying to persuade a
virgin to have sex with him. The man is using the uncertainty of death throughout the poem to seduce
the woman, which leads to the assumption that it is more about sex, than love. Although he does
admire her beauty, the question to be asked is whether he is in love with her or if he is in it for his own
selfishness. If time is the super villain of Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, then having sex is
the super power he needs to gain control over his enemy. But, sex isn t so easy to come by. Possibly
because only a very special someone would understand the speaker s ideas about it. With wit and
daring, the speaker discusses sex in frank, beautiful, and disturbing language. (Shmoop Editorial
Team). The man seductively uses the essence of time to try to persuade the woman to have sex with
him, before they both die, or before she figures out what his true intentions are.
The man preys into the fear and uncertainty of death by stating then worms shall try that long
preserved virginity, and your quaint honour turn to dust (Marvell 27 29). This disgusting image is
intended to encourage his lover to give her virginity to the speaker rather than foolishly saving herself
for the worms when buried. He also makes a pun of her quaint honour , which could be seen as a
reference to her naïve preservation of her virginity even though death ( turn to dust ) is inevitable. It is
also a reference to her body quaint was a euphemism for vagina around the late 16th century (BBC).
He is trying to get her to let go of her honor, implying she will lose her virginity eventually, whether it
is with him or the worms in her grave. Trying his best to get what he truly wants, he starts using her
honor against her, telling her that worms will turn her honor to dust and if she would just have sex
with him it would be preserved. The man insinuates that he will admire and love her for ages, but if
that is true, why is he so persistent for it to happen right now?
Starting off the poem he tells the woman how long he is willing to wait for her, but there is

Giralamo Savonarola and the Development of the...
THESIS STATEMENT
The moral fanatic and religious fundamentalist, Giralamo Savonarola, inhibited the development of
the Renaissance in Florence and brought the city back into the Middle Ages.
PURPOSE STATEMENT
Through scholarly research of Florentine politics and daily life during the rule of the Medici, it is
affirmed that Giralamo Savonarola used religion and fear to inhibit the progression of the Renaissance
in Florence.
INTRODUCTION
Religion provides hope for those who are hopeless. It aims to welcome those who are alienated and
feel that their life has no purpose. Religion served the same function in the Middle Ages and
Renaissance as it does today. However, religion was embraced more during the Middle Ages by

Lorenzo and his humanist circle had a great influence on artist in patronized including Botticelli.
During the Middle Ages, the church commissioned most of the art being produced which limited the
subject matter and censorship. Now, however, the Medici were the chief patrons using art as a political
declaration rather than a religious idea. Commissioned by the Medici, Donatello s David was the first
free standing nude sculpture completed since antiquity (Gilmore 83). The work symbolized the shift of
the arts from the church to the political forum. As art and learning thrived, morals and grace declined
in the eyes of the church. Many religious traditionalist viewed Florence as an evil and godless city.
These fundamentalists eagerly waited for a great reformed to restore Florence to a religious city.
PREACHER AND REFORMER Giralamo Savonarola was born in Ferrara in 1452. He was brought
to Florence by Lorenzo after Pico della Mirandola encouraged him to bring Savonarola to the city. In
Ferrara, Savonarola was a traditionalist and a moralist and renowned as a preacher and a prophet.
Upon his arrival, Savonarola did not intend on reforming the city and returning it to a religious
centered state. Yet, after witnessing the atrocities of Florence, he became a reformer and an outspoken
enemy of the Medici family. Savonarola believed with a passionate conviction that God ruled the
world and he personally felt responsible to turn people away from sin towards God.

Analysis Of John Milton s The Of Mere Christianity
Often in life we are faced with choices. They could be as simple as what you should wear that day or
as important as what degree you should pursue. It is the more important choices in our lives however,
that will define who we are and effect our future. C.S Lewis stated in his book, Mere Christianity, that
Every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part that chooses, into
something different than it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable
choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing into a heavenly creature or a hellish
creature. There are two books, Pilgrims Progress and Paradise Lost, that are perfect examples of this
quote. Pilgrims Progress, by John Bunyan, is about the difficulties that a Christian faces throughout
his journey towards the Celestial City. Paradise Lost, by John Milton, is, on the other hand, a story
about Satan s fall from heaven and His deception of Adam and Eve. These two great works of
literature give clear examples of how choices effect the outcome of one s life. In John Bunyan s
Pilgrims Progress there are several characters whose choices greatly implement their situation. The
main character, whose name is Christian, has striking illustrations of this. Christian is depicted in the
book as a man who has a great burden to be saved, which leads him to journey to the Celestial City to
be with Christ. The first decision he makes, the choice

A Survey On The Health Bus Staff Essay
The Health Bus staff collects quantitative data including client demographics, proportion of people by
location and time of day, types of conditions presented and treatment interventions provided (The
Australian College of Ambulance Professionals, 2009). Hence, this evaluation will leverage on the
administrative data since the data is collected routinely and readily available. The researcher will
review the various files and statistics that SHR kept from August 2008 to August 2016 and use the
administrative data to determine the demographics of the people that have visited the health bus and
the conditions they presented and received treatment for. Client Surveys: A survey will be used
because it is an ideal method to reach a large number of respondents. A survey was similarly used to
evaluate the Mobile Access Project in Vancouver (Janssen, Gibson, Bowen, Spittal, Petersen, 2009)
and is an ideal method to determine coverage of a community based intervention (Callaghan Koru et
al., 2013). The self administered survey will consist of closed ended questions to measure client
satisfaction and determine the services clients received. An initial draft of the survey will be pre tested
with 30 participants as done in the Mobile Access Project (Janssen et al., 2009) and the researcher will
modify the questions based on feedback prior to administering it to all participants. Focus Groups:

This change of pronouns gives a sense of the other , a separate entity. Through this otherness, he
betrays a feeling of superiority. His sometime overuse of victorious terminology shows complete
silencing of the actual circumstances of the war, which then sounds slightly superficial, therefore
betraying superiority.
Paterson s other purpose of this text is to promote nationalism amongst Australian men, persuading
them to enlist. He deliberately emphasises on how everyone in Australia is an Australian, through this
line English, Scotch, and Irish bred, They re all Australians now! This would make everyone at the
time feel obliged to join.
His victorious tone also conveys also conveys the glory and honour that accompanies being a soldier.
The actual hardships of the war which would dissuade enlisting if mentioned, is deliberately silenced
by Paterson.
The careful choices of literary devices Paterson had successfully conveyed his underlying purpose to
the reader. This text also paints a picture of the mood of one of the facets of Australians in the war
which is the main focus of this poem.

As an effective leader one has to be especially close to their subordinates in order to provide them
with the necessary purpose, direction and motivation to complete their assigned task. The tactical level
is usually found at the company or platoon level, this leader is always looking to accomplish the short
term goals in support of the long term mission. Tactical leaders must know how to solve problems
quickly and without hesitation, they have more direct influence over soldiers because they are in the
trenches with them. At this stage the leader has to council, correct and led their soldiers through the
direct approach of leadership.
Organization leadership This leadership style is where the leader actually has to plan and synchronize
training in order that the small units are able to produce the tactical into the operational action. At the
organization level a leader is not in a traditional leadership position when they are directly in charge of
soldiers. Leaders in this style are the one whom establish section that develop plans and create orders.
When a result is achieved at this level the entire team is responsibility for the outcome. Organizational
leaders make decision that affect the long term goal and helps plan the short term mission for their

Physical Abuse And Child Abuse
Child abuse is all over the world in every state and in a big percentage of homes. Abuse is more than
just physically touching a child. It s talking down to a child to where they don t care anymore, and
when someone is touching a child in sexual ways. The thing about abuse, no matter what type it is
they all tie together somehow. Physical, sexual, and mental abuse is known more common in teens and
goes unspoken more than people realize and they don t even know it s happening around them.
Physical abuse is known as the most common when it comes to child abuse. The abuse comes from a

Which leads to mental abuse.
Mental abuse is a side effect that comes from physical and sexual abuse that has happened to a child.
The children that has been abused have symptoms of what they went through, like nightmares and can
be frighten very easily and can lead to other things. This can stem from a parent or guardian telling
that child they are not worthy or talking down to them. People know other abuses to be visible to the
eye like physical abuse but what they don t know is that mental abuse is just as damaging. Mental
abuse can be a lifelong effect and can also take multiple ways to recover, if even possible. In 2005,
1,460 children died from abuse or neglect, with about 64,000 also psychologically or emotionally
abused (Tips On How To Prevent Emotional Child Abuse). Children can get treatment to help recover
from their abuse or cope with their abuse. The child can be put into therapy and talk about all the
things that has happened to them. Children who are abused are often afraid to complain because they
are fearful that they will be blamed or that no one will believe them (Child Abuse | Psychology
Today). It s hard for children to handle the abuse it, and they harm theirself or start to behavior in a
manner that is the complete opposite of who they really are. Sexual abuse can cause a girl to think she

stores continue to provide natural healthcare and beauty products which serves to not only provide for
the needs of current customers but may offer incentive to bring more buyers into the stores. Successful
expansion into new markets continues to strengthen the brand. The openings of store fronts in Canada
and the United Kingdom bring the total international store count to 19 as of October 2015 (Whole
Foods, 2015). Branching into international territories offers increased brand recognition and
awareness. Providing localized offerings and increasing awareness of natural products creates brand
attention in geographic markets that were previously untouched. This raises brand exposure and
identification which greatly increases the potential for market gains. Opening operations creates
diversification of business risk to a small degree. The stores in Canada and the U.K. may not be as

A Research Study At Ohio State University
5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors
were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms, they
can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University
identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern
for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is
completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors
(Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations
orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of
the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at
opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors,
but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two
behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors.
For example, in the U. S. Army one of the most important rules is to take care of your soldiers and
complete the mission task; a leader should be good with both. Bad leaders can do neither, nor do just
one but not the other (Joyce, 2012). The notion that just two dimensions

Here he accepts life with Joy and Sorrow. Before Ode to Auttumn, Keats is a poet with an insatiable
desire for the joy of life but in the ode Keats reaches a stage of impersonality where the process of
death and decay are acceptable to him. It is the most perfect of the odes of Keats. Keats with all his
poetic qualities is here in the poem which has a unique and perfect expression even the severest critic
finds no fault. In it there is no looking before and after, no pining for what is not, but a complete
negation of his own self. It is an objective presentation of the truth of life. The poem was written at a
time when Keats had a lot of pain and adversity around him. Tom was already dead, Goerge wanted to
go to America and Keats being the eldest had to arrange for money. His own love for Fanny Brawne
was a cause of much agony for him. There is much pain at the back but the delights of literature are
also with him. The Sunday walk by the River Itchen proved soothing and he drank deep the screne
beauty of nature which resulted in his Ode to Autumn. Keats narrates a beautiful season to us and he
does it in an objective way, Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness/ Close bosom friend of the
maturing sun;/ Conspiring with him how to load and bless/ With fruit the vines that round the thatch
eves run. (Garrod,

Essay On Eminent Domain
Eminent Domain is the actual inherent power of the government to take over a citizens property for
public use without the owner s consent. This was initially a part of public policy that originated in the

American Dreamer By Bharati Mukherjee Summary
American Dreamer by Bharati Mukherjee scrutinizes the problems involved with culture fusion and
identity. Within the essay, Mukherjee provides her story of traveling to the United States to expose
America s problem with the fusion of other cultures. Fusion, according to Mukherjee, stands as the
idea of multiple cultures uniting together within the context of a country under one supreme set of
ideals regardless of previous beliefs and cultural influences. However, both resident countries and
immigrants struggle to coexist with their conflicting societal influences. The refusal to accept cultural
differences provokes division within society. Immigrants refusal to appreciate a fused culture
promotes division. Mukherjee questions the idea of immigrants losing their culture for American
ideals: Parents express rage or despair at their U.S. born children s forgetting of, or indifference to,
some aspects of Indian culture, to that Mukherjee asks, Is it so terrible that our children are
discovering or are inventing homelands for themselves? (Mukherjee, 1997, para. 28). Many
immigrants experience anger when their children no longer hold the ideals of their home country. This
tension produced within the household hinders the unity within a resident country s culture and
encourages division within families. Using herself as an example, Mukherjee provides another
instance of anger directed at her from her own subculture: They direct their rage at me because, by
becoming a U.S.

Comparing and Contrasting God and Worship Rites
Comparing and Contrasting God, gods, and worship rites.
In Both Islam and Zoroaster the belief of one true God is highly favored amongst the two and both
acknowledge God as transparent, but they differ in their reference to God. The Zoroaster religion
refers to God as Ahura Mazda (The wise Lord) along with twenty other names. It is understood that
Ahura Mazda is an invisible and intangible creator. However, the Islam religion recognizes the
supreme High God as Allah, who is separated and unapproachable by human beings. In contrast to
Islam and Zoroaster, the Hinduism religion contradicts this belief and practice devotion to three major
Indian gods. All three faiths worship their God or gods in different forms, yet all three are share
similarities regarding worship and sacrifices.
Hinduism was established sometime around the sixth century, but was originated by the Aryan people
during the second millennium B.C.E during the voyage to Indian. Hinduism is recognized as the
eldest, most complicated religion of the world. Nevertheless, it is the foundation of three other
philosophies such as, Jainism, Buddhism and Islam. The chief style of worship according to Hopfe
and Woodward is concluded which of the three gods one will serve and of sacrifices such as offering
of animals, dairy products, fires, and Soma plant juice as form of worship. The most intensely and
valued sacrifice is the horse. Any great king, who desires acquiring more territory, must select a young

Dear Mr. Mrs. Smith,
It was a pleasure meeting with you this past week discussing improvements with your environmental
footprint. As discussed, Rammed Earth Homes was the approach we wanted to take and as that, I have
prepared further information that will help you better understand the over all concept of Rammed

or have any concerns regarding your new upgrade.
Rammed Earth Homes Overview
Rammed Earth construction has been around since 5000 B.C, often utilized in middle Eastern
countries, also leading its way towards Europe. As every option in life, Rammed Earth Homes, does

  • 2. Essay about Ideologies, Narrative, Stereotypes and Discourses According to French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, a habitus is referring to a person s way of thinking, acting, and behaving. A habitus is a structure that helps a person comprehend and deal with society. It can be simply seen as a merger of society and the individual. (Wysocka, Paulina, 2013). Habitus is both a structured structure the effect of the actions of, and our interactions with, others and a structuring structure it suggests and constrains our future actions (Bourdieu, 1992). In other words, habitus is both the embodiment of our social location (i.e., class, ethnicity, race, sexuality, gender, generation, and nationality) (Noble amp; Watkins, 2003) and the structure of social relations that generate and give significance ... Karl Marx believes that the ruling class control ideology and used a trick to create an illusion of fairness and harmony (Lane, Dr.Karen, 2013) This plainly brings into question human agency and free will however one can argue that those influenced still have the ability to change it (Lane, Dr.Karen, 2013). Italian theorist Antonio Gramsci argued that cultural domination is never fully achieved and that audience awareness is evident but again cultural domination is always in contention (Lane, Dr.Karen, 2013) Gramscian thesis of Hegemony also argued that ruling groups can maintain their power through force, consent, or a combination of the two (Croteau, David, Hoynes, William, Milan, ... Endocrine System And Non-Steroid Hormones Then Endocrine System The endocrine system consists of a variety of glands and clusters of hormone secreting cells in various organs throughout the body. These glands produce chemicals called hormones, which are secreted directly into the bloodstream. The body produces many different hormones, which can either be classified as steroid or non steroid. Synthesis of results We conducted meta analyses of EQ 5D utilities across different GOLD levels, based on an inverse variance approach. The pooled estimates for EQ 5D measurements of mild, moderate, severe, and very severe COPD are 0.821 (95% CI: 0.814 0.828), 0.760 (95% CI: 0.756 0.765), 0.727 (95% CI: 0.722 0.732), and 0.681 (95% CI: 0.675 0.686). Results based on visual analogue scale demonstrated a similar trend. There was insufficient data for meta analysis on the utilities across different disease severity levels according to time trade off and standard gamble. Discrete choice In addition to utility of outcomes ranging from 0 to 1, we also included other reports on the importance of outcomes. Willingness to pay is another indication of utility by monetary values. Researchers also used forced choice techniques, discrete choice exercise/conjoint analysis, or probability trade off to elicit the outcome importance information. Additionally, some studies were based on research self developed scales or questionnaires. In total, we identified 74 reports to suggest outcome importance information other than utility of outcomes ranging from 0 to 1. Forced choice and Preference trials Of all the 74 reports, 39 of them used a forced choice question. For instance, my anthropological interests with medical anthropology lie around how indigenous groups use their natural environment . In particular, I am interested in the difference between western society and how we go to a doctor and chemist when we are sick and how some indigenous societies use their natural environment, such as plants from the forest to heal people. • 6. The Impact Of Jane Addams And Civil Rights Civil rights demonstrates that all people, no matter what race, religion, color or class, are equal and have equal rights. Although the civil rights time period is a subject that is not talked about much today, it was years ago when there was a lot of segregation and discrimination. There were many African Americans who made a difference in their fight for civil rights, but not many white people tried to make that same difference. Jane Addams was one of the few white people who made this effort; she had an even bigger impact on civil rights since she was female and wealthy, along with her skin color. Jane Addams got involved in promoting civil rights because she grew up around many sophisticated adults that also supported it. In fact, her own father was Addams greatest influence and she grew up only knowing what he taught her. When she was just a little girl, her father told her that, ...it was important for those who have enough to help those who do not. (Ray, 8). This quote shaped Addams whole life since it was based off of helping people who weren t as lucky as her and promoting rights for all people. Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore, an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer. This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding. Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then that is not a contract. • 14. Kierkegaard s An Age Of Dispassionate Reflection Soren Kierkegaard, in his essay, the Present Age, writes about two ages the passionate age and the present age: an age of dispassionate reflection. Kierkegaard believes the present age to be centered on reflection (deliberation, representation, anticipation), which substitutes for decisive action. The present age, according to Kierkegaard is characterized by an unhappy objectivity, in which the individual has become leveled down and loses himself as part of a crowd. One aspect of this unhappy objectivity is that our age is an age of reflection rather than of passion. Kierkegaard suggests, the most dangerous, if also the most respectable of all diseases is to admire in public what is considered unimportant in private since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is dangerous because in the act of doing so, we lose our true selves in the process. Kierkegaard strongly believes in the idea of individuality. If individuals (as individuals) take it upon themselves to experience first hand meaningful action and informed opinion (which is risky) they will gain something precious. Yet, many would rather stay in the safety (and effortlessness) of the public and live meaninglessly. Kierkegaard uses the example of the skater to demonstrate his assertion of the most dangerous of all diseases . The skater, on a frozen lake with dangerously thin ice, sees a jewel in the distance. In the passionate age, he argues, the public would cheer and support the skater as he made efforts to reach the jewel. They would worry for him and show concern at any sign of danger. However, in an age absent of passion, the crowds would agree on the fact that it was unreasonable and not worthwhile to engage in such a dangerous activity. In addition, they would praise themselves for being clever and practical for figuring this out. The qualities of being daring and enthusiastic for something an individual may be passionate about is malformed into a feat of skill, in which people are encouraged to surrender to the most dangerous of all diseases : to admire in public what is ... Coined in the early twentieth century after a Boston fraudster named Charles Ponzi, a Ponzi scheme is a form of investment fraud, in which newly invested money is used to repay existing investors (Ponzi Scheme, n.d.). Since the money is not actually invested, there is no way for Ponzi organizers to generate money for their clientele, which is why Ponzi schemes quickly collapse when recruitment stalls or large numbers of investors decide to cash out (Ponzi Scheme, n.d.). Ponzi schemes are non discriminatory crimes; they effect large corporation and blue collar individuals alike. After the collapse of a Ponzi scheme, large corporations may find themselves out of millions of dollars and retirees may no longer possess the capital essential for retirement. Other undesirable effects of a Ponzi include, return of any principal or interest received by investors if the Ponzi organizer s creditors file for bankruptcy, further financial strain on investors if they must obtain the counsel of a tax adviser, and public shame if records concerning the Ponzi are publicized revealing the identity of investors (Benson, 2009). In addition, non profit intuitions may be forced to return any charitable gifts or donations received from a schemer (Benson, 2009). Such was the case for Middle Tennessee University, after a bankruptcy trustee demanded the return of a $900,000 donations gifted to the university by a Ponzi schemer named Robert McLean (Benson, 2009). Therefore, it is important for future investors to do their due diligence when decided to invest their money. • 16. Betrayal in Maus Essay During World War II and the Holocaust, there was not only mistrust for the government but there was also plenty of mistrust for prior friends and neighbors. In the graphic novel, Maus (Volume I and II) Vladek Spiegelman makes it very clear to his son, Artie, that one cannot count on their friends. He makes the point that in time of hardship, friends will abandon you quite quickly. Vladek says, Friends? Your friends...if you lock them together in a room with no food for a week...then you could see what it is, friends! (Maus, VI. 5 6). Yet again, it becomes evident that no one can be trusted when the prisoners are being marched from the concentration camp due to the Nazis fear that the United States and allies soon would discover their operation. The Jewish prisoners arrange a plan with some of the German guards marching alongside them. The prisoners pay the guards with the agreement that when they try to run the German soldiers will fire over their heads and not kill them. When the time came to run, the prisoners break away from the pack and start towards the woods, however, the same soldiers that promised not to shoot them shot them in the back as they ran (Maus V II 82 83). The Germans that were supposed to be the friends of the Jews and help them escape took their gold and did not hesitate to shoot them in the back as they ran. • 18. Comparing Islam And Radical Islam Islam and radical Islam are a hot topic among media outlets and dinner tables, often being confused that they are either two different things or derivatives of early Christianity. The fact remains that Islam and radical Islam are one and the same and, though there may be some early similarities to the Old Testament, Islam and Christianity are as different as the clouds in the sky to a deep, barbed pit. Though I will not be covering every facet that exists between the Bible and the Qur an, I will be covering the so called difference between radical Islam and its moderate counterpart, abrogation and how it works within Islam, differences between Jesus and Muhammad as figure heads, and the ethical behavior between neighbors in relation to Islamic and Christian beliefs. Radical Islam is a relatively new term that mainstream media, and empathizers of the Muslim faith, have adopted to defend the ideals of Islam without calling it Islam. Radical, in this sense, would mean either extreme or differing from the majority of the Muslim population. However, if we take a look into the roots of Islam and the laws put in place by Muhammad hundreds of years ago, we notice that the moderates are the true anomaly, as detailed in the non partisan work Is the Quran Hate Propaganda (TheReligionofPeace [TROP] 2002 2006). Pursuing Sex In Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress Kelcie Horner Professor D Angelo English 102 December 3, 2017 Pursuing Sex The speaker in To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell is a shady man that is trying to persuade a virgin to have sex with him. The man is using the uncertainty of death throughout the poem to seduce the woman, which leads to the assumption that it is more about sex, than love. Although he does admire her beauty, the question to be asked is whether he is in love with her or if he is in it for his own selfishness. If time is the super villain of Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, then having sex is the super power he needs to gain control over his enemy. But, sex isn t so easy to come by. Possibly because only a very special someone would understand the speaker s ideas about it. With wit and daring, the speaker discusses sex in frank, beautiful, and disturbing language. (Shmoop Editorial Team). The man seductively uses the essence of time to try to persuade the woman to have sex with him, before they both die, or before she figures out what his true intentions are. The man preys into the fear and uncertainty of death by stating then worms shall try that long preserved virginity, and your quaint honour turn to dust (Marvell 27 29). This disgusting image is intended to encourage his lover to give her virginity to the speaker rather than foolishly saving herself for the worms when buried. He also makes a pun of her quaint honour , which could be seen as a reference to her naïve preservation of her virginity even though death ( turn to dust ) is inevitable. It is also a reference to her body quaint was a euphemism for vagina around the late 16th century (BBC). He is trying to get her to let go of her honor, implying she will lose her virginity eventually, whether it is with him or the worms in her grave. Trying his best to get what he truly wants, he starts using her honor against her, telling her that worms will turn her honor to dust and if she would just have sex with him it would be preserved. • 25. Analysis Of John Milton s The Of Mere Christianity Often in life we are faced with choices. They could be as simple as what you should wear that day or as important as what degree you should pursue. It is the more important choices in our lives however, that will define who we are and effect our future. C.S Lewis stated in his book, Mere Christianity, that Every time you make a choice you are turning the central part of you, the part that chooses, into something different than it was before. And taking your life as a whole, with all your innumerable choices, all your life long you are slowly turning this central thing into a heavenly creature or a hellish creature. There are two books, Pilgrims Progress and Paradise Lost, that are perfect examples of this quote. Pilgrims Progress, by John Bunyan, is about the difficulties that a Christian faces throughout his journey towards the Celestial City. Paradise Lost, by John Milton, is, on the other hand, a story about Satan s fall from heaven and His deception of Adam and Eve. These two great works of literature give clear examples of how choices effect the outcome of one s life. In John Bunyan s Pilgrims Progress there are several characters whose choices greatly implement their situation. The main character, whose name is Christian, has striking illustrations of this. Christian is depicted in the book as a man who has a great burden to be saved, which leads him to journey to the Celestial City to be with Christ. The first decision he makes, the choice ... • 32. A Research Study At Ohio State University 5 Leadership Running Head Leadership Two large studies found that two types of leader behaviors were important concepts in leadership skills. While the two separate studies used different terms, they can be thought of as concern for people and concern for tasks. The study at Ohio State University identified these two behaviors: Consideration relationship behaviors, such as respect and trust concern for people. Initiating Structure task behaviors, such as organizing, scheduling and seeing that work is completed concern for tasks. The study at the University of Michigan identified these two behaviors (Joyce, 2012). Employee Orientation approaching employees with a strong human relations orientation concern for people. Production Orientation stressing the technical and production aspect of the job concern for tasks. The researchers from Michigan State thought of these two behaviors at opposite ends of a single continuum. Thus, a leader could be strong with one of these two behaviors, but would be weaker in the opposite one (Joyce, 2012). The Ohio State studies viewed these two behaviors as distinct and independent. That is, a leader could be high or low in one or both behaviors. For example, in the U. S. Before Ode to Auttumn, Keats is a poet with an insatiable desire for the joy of life but in the ode Keats reaches a stage of impersonality where the process of death and decay are acceptable to him. It is the most perfect of the odes of Keats. Keats with all his poetic qualities is here in the poem which has a unique and perfect expression even the severest critic finds no fault. In it there is no looking before and after, no pining for what is not, but a complete negation of his own self. It is an objective presentation of the truth of life. The poem was written at a time when Keats had a lot of pain and adversity around him. Tom was already dead, Goerge wanted to go to America and Keats being the eldest had to arrange for money. His own love for Fanny Brawne was a cause of much agony for him. There is much pain at the back but the delights of literature are also with him. The Sunday walk by the River Itchen proved soothing and he drank deep the screne beauty of nature which resulted in his Ode to Autumn. Keats narrates a beautiful season to us and he does it in an objective way, Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness/ Close bosom friend of the maturing sun;/ Conspiring with him how to load and bless/ With fruit the vines that round the thatch eves run. • 36. American Dreamer By Bharati Mukherjee Summary American Dreamer by Bharati Mukherjee scrutinizes the problems involved with culture fusion and identity. Within the essay, Mukherjee provides her story of traveling to the United States to expose America s problem with the fusion of other cultures. Fusion, according to Mukherjee, stands as the idea of multiple cultures uniting together within the context of a country under one supreme set of ideals regardless of previous beliefs and cultural influences. However, both resident countries and immigrants struggle to coexist with their conflicting societal influences. The refusal to accept cultural differences provokes division within society. Immigrants refusal to appreciate a fused culture promotes division. Mukherjee questions the idea of immigrants losing their culture for American ideals: Parents express rage or despair at their U.S. born children s forgetting of, or indifference to, some aspects of Indian culture, to that Mukherjee asks, Is it so terrible that our children are discovering or are inventing homelands for themselves? (Mukherjee, 1997, para. 28). Many immigrants experience anger when their children no longer hold the ideals of their home country. This tension produced within the household hinders the unity within a resident country s culture and encourages division within families. Using herself as an example, Mukherjee provides another instance of anger directed at her from her own subculture: They direct their rage at me because, by becoming a U.S. ... Soon it completely severed her tongue, and making its way into her sinuses. With the pressure put on the knife from being slammed into the second to last step, the knife began cutting into her brain. With the last step it entered her brain fully. First of all, if a crook thinks or knows that the soon to be victim has a gun the crook will back off and that person will not become a victim. An FBI study in 2000 showed that murders went down 8.5%, rapes by 5%, aggravated assault by 7%, and robbery by 3% in states with shall issue for concealed handguns. This means that crime rates in aggravated assault, burglary, murder and rape will go down drastically across the us. • 39. Comparing and Contrasting God and Worship Rites Comparing and Contrasting God, gods, and worship rites. In Both Islam and Zoroaster the belief of one true God is highly favored amongst the two and both acknowledge God as transparent, but they differ in their reference to God. The Zoroaster religion refers to God as Ahura Mazda (The wise Lord) along with twenty other names. It is understood that Ahura Mazda is an invisible and intangible creator. However, the Islam religion recognizes the supreme High God as Allah, who is separated and unapproachable by human beings. All three faiths worship their God or gods in different forms, yet all three are share similarities regarding worship and sacrifices. Hinduism was established sometime around the sixth century, but was originated by the Aryan people during the second millennium B.C.E during the voyage to Indian.
