Treatment involves diet, exercise, medication and insulin as needed to control blood sugar levels and prevent short and long term complications affecting organs like the eyes, kidneys and heart. Current research focuses on prediction, prevention and management of diabetes as well as its complications.

Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a psychiatric diagnosis where a person displays multiple distinct identities or personalities, each with their own memories and patterns of behavior. DID is caused by severe childhood trauma like abuse and neglect. The child dissociates or splits their identity as a coping mechanism. Symptoms include memory loss, depression, hallucinations, and an inability to account for certain events. Treatment focuses on psychotherapy to help integrate the different personalities. DID is difficult to treat and prognosis depends on comorbid conditions and ability to remove oneself from abusive situations.
Swine Flu
Swine flu is a respiratory disease in pigs caused by influenza A virus that has recently infected humans. It first emerged in Mexico in early 2009 and quickly spread globally in a pandemic. Symptoms are similar to seasonal flu but it can lead to pneumonia or death in some cases. Researchers are working to develop a vaccine and contain its spread through public health measures while learning more about its origins and transmission.
Turners Syndrome
Turner syndrome is a genetic condition that affects development in girls caused by a missing or partial X chromosome. It was first described in 1938 by Dr. Henry Turner. Common characteristics include short stature, ovarian dysfunction leading to infertility, and heart defects. Diagnosis involves chromosome analysis from amniocentesis or blood tests. Urinary System Notes
The kidneys filter blood to produce urine and are located between vertebrae T12-L3. Each kidney contains an outer cortex where filtering occurs and an inner medulla composed of renal pyramids. Blood enters the kidneys through the renal artery and leaves through the renal vein, undergoing filtration in structures called nephrons. Urine flows from nephrons through collecting ducts into minor calyces, major calyces, the renal pelvis, ureters, bladder, and urethra to exit the body. The ureters are muscular tubes that carry urine from kidneys to bladder. The bladder is a muscular reservoir organ where urine is stored before exiting through the urethra.
