HIV In Prisons
In the US prison system an estimated 1 in 7 HIV infected individuals pass through correctional
faculties each year without being identified as having HIV (Beckwith et al. 183). In prison, out of 2.2
million people incarcerated, 1.5% have HIV or AIDS (21,987 people) (Lovinger 1). This number is
four times the HIV prevalence rate in the non institutionalized population. If an inmate is released
back into his or her community with an untreated HIV virus it puts the community at risk and
themselves in greater danger. The inequity exists in this situation because HIV positive incarcerated
individuals are receiving worse and delayed care in prison compared to out of prison. My research
question being, to what extent does the quality and access of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A way to stop this would be to continue to promote programs like Project START, which focuses on
educating HIV infected individuals released from prison, into better communities. By imposing this on
a national and community level scale you will be able to account for people who may have not
received quality care in prison. We are doing some of this right as we have programs that help with
this like the Returning Home Ohio program, which accepts HIV positive individuals form Cuyahoga
County released from jail. To continue to impose these and to get prisons to take advantage of the
many HIV centers in their community would help efficiently fight the HIV crisis in prison. A way to
fund these would be to get volunteers to help run these programs and try to get donations. A way to
know this is working would be to survey the amount of HIV ex convicts joining these

Hospital Supply Chain Management

Supply Chain 2
Supply Chain Management plays a vital role in our hospitals today. With the growing cost of
healthcare and new technologies, it is vital for hospitals to run as efficiently as possible and without
jeopardizing care. To the materials manager and to the financial minds of a hospital the area of supply
chain is a tedius task at best, the kind of planning, strategizing and measuring that seldom goes
recognized and rewarded. The work involved with inventory control fits tightly within that
description.
In many hospitals today, it is easy for inventory control to go astray and ... Show more content on

Until that time comes, if ever, there needs to be another solution.
There is no quick fix, but I will start with a list of criteria that will help us better control I Cares
inventory, understand what is being spent, where it is being spent and areas where we can cut costs on
supplys, which according to ASCET (Achieving Supply Chain Excellence through Technology) makes
up between 25 and 30% of a hospitals operating costs.
1. Understand your spend. Knowing exactly what you are keeping in inventory, where it comes from,
and how it s received, handled and stored is critical to inventory reduction efforts. There are many
programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution. There must
still be business processes in place to analyze this data to make it worthwhile.
2. Rationalize SKUs. This requires data about what SKUs are being used, by whom, and for what.
This is the biggest challenge, but armed with this information, you ll be able to impact inventory
levels, SKU proliferation, leverage substitutes and alternates or even the need to stock certain
materials at all.
3. Leverage key strategic partners/distributors for information and just in time services which will
substitute inventory stockpiles. This means you get only what you need. And, should you need more
of a product on occasion, you know exactly where to find it.

Pros And Cons Of Agricultural Subsidies
In late 1920, early 1930 s, the government of the United States of America (USA) first initiated efforts
to control the agricultural economy during the great depression. During that period of time, farm
prices collapsed and therefore farmers hardly had any income. Subsidies are benefits given by the
state to specific groups needing financial aid in form of cash or tax reduction. Subsidies are often
considered to be in the interest of the general public. Agricultural subsidies therefore exist to stabilize
food prices, ensure a healthy food production, guaranteeing a farmer s basic income and in general to
strengthen the agricultural part of the economies gross domestic product (GDP) (encyclopedia.com,
agricultural subsidies). In reality however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since there are farmers with more financial opportunities, smaller farms would suffer from the
inequality that would be present, as they can not afford high priced equipment and machinery to
expand their production or to even invest in new crops. However, when the government decides on
subsidies, especially the smaller farms profit from the extra cash, as they can now afford to keep up
with the competition. This means that subsidies enable the smaller farms to produce at an optimal
level of production. Therefore, financial aids by the state also aim to prevent that there is a monopoly
of one farmer since a monopoly would damage the whole agricultural industry. In contrast to
monopoly, competition plays an important role, not only in the agricultural, but in any industry. A
healthy competition leads to a variety of products the consumer can choose from at an affordable price
since a high contestability leads to prices going down to average cost at some point because of the
constant undercutting in

Liberal Arts Yay Or Nay Essay
Liberal Arts: Yay or Nay? In recent discussions of liberal arts degrees, a controversial issue has been
whether they are worth getting rather than a vocational degree. On one hand, some argue that getting a
liberal arts degree is a waste of money and there are very limited jobs out there that a liberal arts
degree could be used for. On the other hand, however, others argue that in order to be a well rounded
person and to be more interesting, a student should work towards a liberal arts degree. According to
this view, even though there is not one specific job that the individual will be trained for while
obtaining a liberal arts education, he or she will be feeding their brain and giving himself or herself a
chance to develop better knowledge of subjects in social sciences, literature, and mathematics. In sum,
then, the issue is whether getting a liberal arts education is worth it or not. My own view is that I
believe being an intellectually developed person is extremely important; therefore, I agree that
pursuing a liberal arts education can be very valuable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

many different kinds of jobs. One of the misconceptions in Sanford J. Ungar s essay The New Liberal

explain that in a recent study more than three quarters of employers encourage college bound students
to get a liberal arts degree. So, that just proves that employers are seeking well rounded students that

Katherine Carroll s Alice s Adventures, Wonderland And...
In most Victorian literature, curious women are severely punished because Victorian society
prohibited women from indulging themselves in curiosity; this idea originates from the fear that
female knowledge would jeopardize patriarchal security (Aikens 29). In contrast, the protagonist of
Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (and What Alice
Found There) does not receive punishment for her curiosity, despite living under Victorian conditions.
Instead, Carroll replaces this prohibitive standard with a standard of freedom entitled to both genders.
Most literary critics, therefore, accept Carroll as a feminist and praise him for challenging gender
stereotypes. Others, however, are hesitant to do the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
in Cohen 16)
These gender roles are derived from natural characteristics of men and women: a woman s natural
gentleness provides the best environment for a developing child, and a man s natural intellectual and
fighting superiority make them best suited for the field (Cohen 16). Thus, while men commuted to
their place of work, women stayed home to oversee domestic duties because all Victorians, even those
who idolized women, saw [women] as the weaker sex, requiring protection and support ; they believed
that to subject the female body to any manly tasks would be to abuse it (Cohen 18). Also, Victorian
women strived for motherhood since marriage and reproduction were of utmost importance to them;
they devoted their pre marital lives to obtaining knowledge ranging from music and singing to modern
languages, solely for the purpose of attracting a husband (Corbett 22).
Though based on general characteristics, these standards do not account for every man or woman.
Who is to say that a man cannot be as nurturing or supportive as a woman, or that a woman cannot
excel intellectually or fight adeptly? Is a woman automatically incapable of living up to her male
counterpart, or is the capability to succeed in a field dependent upon the individual and not the
gender? These are the questions Carroll addresses through his depiction of Alice, the empowering
protagonist who inadvertently challenges gender stereotypes.
Unbeknownst to Alice, her most prominent

Features Of A Network Topology Essay
2.1 Topology:
Actually here we are discussing about a network topology. A topology is the physical configuration of
a network that determines how the network s computers are connected. The way in which constituent
parts are arranged. The physical topology of a network is the actual geometric layout of workstations.
There are several common physical topologies based on the configuration. They are Star Topology,
Ring Topology, Buss Topology, Mesh Topology, Hybrid Topology and Tree Topology.
2.2 Star Topology:
Star topology is one of the most common network setups. In this arrangement, every node connects to
a central hub, switch or computer; the hub acting as a server and the peripheral devices as clients. A
major disadvantage of this network topology is that if the central hub fails, all of the connected
devices are disconnected. In a star network layout, each workstation is connected by its own cable
directly to the server. Star networks are usually the layout of choice in schools and offices because
they tend to be the most reliable of the topologies. The visual example shows how this setup gets its
name as it is shaped very much like a star.
FIGURE 2.1: Star Topology
Advantages:
Star networks are very reliable. If one connection fails, it does not affect other users
Very few data collisions as each workstation has its own cable to the server
Good security no workstation can interact with another without going through the server first

Feudalism In Cinderella
The French invaded the Rhineland, in what is now Germany, in 1792 during the French Revolution.
During this time, the French invaders pillaged towns, raped women, and destroyed entire families.
While the French believed that they were liberating the Germans from the yoke of feudalism, (Large
629) they were really creating a bitter enemy of the German people who found unity in hating
anything French. This new found zealotry was exemplified during the Romanticism period by writers
such as the Grimm brothers. They believed that writing down these folk tales was a way of accurately
representing their German culture. Due to this deep seeded belief, they allude to the French invaders
of Germany in Cinderella through the use of the evil stepsisters who invade Cinderella s home. When
the stepsisters arrive, Cinderella is forced to work from dusk to dawn in her own house, but she is able
to maintain her kindness. This image created through Cinderella s struggle can be compared to that of
the German people. The portrayal of the evil stepsisters as France, Cinderella as Germany, and the
Dove as the Holy Trinity, shows that the Grimm s version of Cinderella acts not only as a story to
entertain audiences but as a way to represent the German s struggles against the French occupation of
the Rhineland. The stepsisters that intruded into Cinderella s home are unmistakable allusions toward
the French invaders of 1792. The Grimm s used some of the essential elements of nationalism when

The United Nations Stabilization Mission Essay
The term United Nations was, according to the UN s official website, coined by United States
president Franklin Roosevelt in the context of the fact that the nations were united against the Axis
forces in World War Two. In 1945, the United Nations officially started with fifty one states as its
members. Since then, the United Nations has grown greatly to nearly 200 state members. The United
Nations has several specific purposes that it tries to fulfill. First, its primary goal is to maintain
international peace and security. According to the UN s website, there are five main ways that it
fulfills this purpose. First by preventing conflict before it even starts specifically with diplomatic
discussions and actions in a peaceful manner. Second, the UN maintains international security with
peace keeping organizations. For example, the UN currently is working as the United Nations
Stabilization Mission in Haiti to not only help with the rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes but
also simply maintain peace in the country. In addition to working in preventative and peacekeeping
ways, the United Nations also works towards peace with Peace Building activities, such as its work in
Burundi until 2012. The United nations fourth way it maintains peace is by combating terrorism which
is arguably the opposite of peace. In the United Nations plan of action for combating terrorism, it
states that its members will consistently, unequivocally and strongly condemn terrorism in

Survey of Cognitive Remediation Practices for Individuals with Schizophrenia: Implementation and

Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic mental illness characterized by substantial cognitive, emotional
and perceptual deficits. The symptoms and dysfunctions of schizophrenia manifest themselves in
varying states of severity across individuals but are often associated with high rates of mortality,
substance abuse, and co morbidity with other mental disorders. In addition to earlier mortality rates
(Crump, Winkleby, Sundquist Sundquist, 2013), symptoms of schizophrenia often interfere with one s
ability to function and perform daily tasks. Cognitive impairment (CI) has specifically been identified
as a critical barrier to functional recovery for individuals and as a result, cognitive remediation (CR)
programs are increasingly employed as treatment interventions to address these issues. Empirical
support for the benefits of CR on cognition in schizophrenia is growing; however, the best

Essay on The Crawling Module and Web Pages
With the first one, a collection can have various copies of web pages grouped according to the crawl
in which they were found. For the second one, only the most recent copy of web pages is to be saved.
For this, one has to maintain records of when the web page changed and how frequently it was
changed. This technique is more efficient than the previous one but it requires an indexing module to
be run with the crawling module. The authors conclude that an incremental crawler can bring brand
new copies of web pages more quickly and maintain the storage area fresher than a periodic crawler.

The functioning of Web crawler [10] is beginning with a set of URLs which is called as seed URLs.
They download web pages with the help of seed URLs and take out new links which is present in the

the help of these indexes they can later be retrieved as and when required. The URLs which is
extracted from the downloaded web page are confirmed to know whether their associated documents
have already been downloaded or not. If associated document are not downloaded, the URLs are again
allocated to web crawlers for further downloading. The same process is repeated till no more URLs
are missing for downloading. Millions of web pages are downloaded daily by a crawler to complete
the target. Fig. 1 illustrates the proposed crawling processes.

How Did Martin Luther King Beyond Vietnam A Time To Break...
In Beyond Vietnam A Time to Break the Silence, Martin Luther King Jr. conveys a strong stance
against the injustice and violence of the Vietnam War. He believes the Vietnam War is devastating the
hopes of the poor and brutally highlighting inequality in America; he implores the reader to take
action in the form of protest against these issues. To bolster his argument, King adroitly employs
personal anecdotes, forced teaming, and comparisons to sway his readers. King begins his deft use of
personal anecdotes with his discussion of his work in the ghettos. He narrates, ...[a deeper level of
awareness] grows out of my experience in the ghettos of the North over the last three years especially
the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have
told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems...But they ask and
rightfully so what about Vietnam? This personal anecdote helps King s persuasiveness on several
levels. First, this story establishes his credibility as a speaker. King is out in the streets working with
young men addressing violence and injustice. These experiences provide him with a plethora of first
hand knowledge in addition to providing the reader with an example that King practices what he
preaches. On the other hand, this story helps King develop a strong sense of pathos in his piece. Many
Americans have been taught that violence is never the answer; thus, they inherently acknowledge the
truth of this statement. As King echoes this proverb to the young men, they argue What about
Vietnam? By asking this question, the reader realizes their own government is going against one of
their fundamental beliefs. This makes the reader question the morality of the war in Vietnam. Without
personal anecdotes, King s message would lose its great emotional impact. Just as persuasive as his
use of personal anecdotes are King s analogies. While discussing the detrimental effect the war in
Vietnam will have on America, King describes, If America s soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the
autopsy must read: Vietnam. In King s analogy, he refers to morality as the soul of America. The word

The Price Of Persecution By Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye
The Price of Persecution
The plight of the weak against the powerful is one of the oldest and compelling stories that can be
told, and it has always been the story of race in the United States. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye is a
candid look into the lives of African Americans in the early 1940 s, focusing on the drama surrounding
the coming of age of young girls. The debilitating effects of racism, sexism, and classism on children
and adults of different social statuses are explored through the stories of a number of families. By
illustrating a society in which each class elevates itself by oppressing those below them, Morrison
demonstrates how the cyclical nature of oppression can cripple a community and family for

Art And The Machine
The book, The Art and Craft of the Machine, is written by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1901. It summarises
the methodology behind Wright s approach towards architecture. The following aspects are the key
element in which Frank talks about throughout the book; the rising power of the machine, in contrast
to the abrasive effect it has in the industry and the positive effects of the machine in the fields of Art
and Crafts. Frank talks about the destruction of art with the use of the machine, as he states, that the
machine has dealt Art in the grand old sense a death blow, none will deny. This suggestion implies to
the mass production of furniture and art being produced on a large scale, only to lose their original
value. William Morris himself and his disciples created a movement called the arts and craft
movement , as they envisioned the rising power of the machine and the enslavement of mass
production. However, before Wright can talk about the negative impacts that the machine has brought
upon Art, he first describes what he means by the term Art and the Machine. Wright defines Art as

Red Flags That Indicate A Home For Sale Might Have Problems

Another red flag is when several homes are for sale on the same street or in the same condo building.
This situation could be a coincidence, and sometimes neighbors are prompted to list their home when

Sea Creatures in the Ocean
There are many different creatures in the ocean. They are categorized into 3 different groups that are
Zooplankton, Nekton, and Benthos. In the ocean the zooplankton eat phytoplanktons. Zooplankton are
eaten by all of the larger animals. Phytoplankton self reproduce so they don t need to eat other things.
They create their own food. The Nekton eat the zooplankton because it is a smaller species than the
rest. Some of the most dangerous animals to both humans and other sea animals are Leopard Seals.
Leopard Seals are the second largest species in the Antarctic. The Sea Leopard can be found mainly in
Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and the Atlantic Ocean. It is estimated to live 26 years, some
sea leopards live beyond 26 years of age. Leopard seals mainly eat other seals, penguins, fish and krill.
The leopard seal is a big animal with a dark grey back and a white stomach. It was given the name
leopard seal because it has spots on its throat. Their front teeth are sharp and their teeth lock in a way
so they can kill easier and keep the other fish in it s mouth if it wasn t completely dead. The leopard
seal can usually be found in a pack. It spends most of the time in the water. Leopard seals don t make
much noise except a few grunts and it sometimes growls. A torpedo ray has a soft yet fat and flabby
body. It has loose skin and a muscular tail. They have electric organs that are shaped like kidneys.
They are pretty slow animals but they can cause a lot of harm.

Tobacco Hornworm Lab Report
Introduction:
The purpose of this assignment is to observe the stages of a Tobacco Hornworm. We are then
supposed to document them and describe not only their life cycle, but also any physical or behavioral
changes we saw. The Tobacco Hornworms scientific name is Manduca sexta. It belongs to the order
Lepidoptera and the family Sphingidae. The normal habitat for Tobacco Hornworms is normally along
the Gulf coast, which provides plenty of sunlight and a warm climate. They feed on most commonly
tobacco or tomato plants. As adults they imbibe nectar from flowers and other plants. In our case the
Tobacco Hornworm was living in a vile, feeding on the food provided. I placed the Hornworm by the
kitchen window to provide light. Tobacco Hornworms are seen ... Show more content on

Considering this the Hornworm was kept under artificial light throughout the night and by a window
through the day. The temperature was around 60 62 degrees Fahrenheit, which is typically too cold for
the Hornworm. With that in consideration, we assumed the hornworm may possibly take more time to
transition instars. The food source for the Tobacco Hornworm was what was provided which was a
mixture of water, agar, and wheat germ. The Tobacco Hornworm was kept in the kitchen and was
usually observed during the afternoon and evening. Pictures were taken whenever a physical change
was noted. Normally an observation would be around 3 4 minutes and would be written down with a
date. A lot of research was done to see if the Hornworm was transitioning into a new instar and what
they were supposed to look like. It was usually very noticeable when the Hornworm had transitioned
to a new instar because of the difference in size, appearance, or the presence of shed exuvium. If I was
ever unsure, a lot of available resources were online and also posted onto Blackboard. A picture was
taken at every transitional stage.

Persuasive Speech On School Uniforms
Superintendent Crouse, School Board Members, and Administrators of Loveland High School, thank
you for all you have done for this wonderful school and its students. We are deeply appreciative of all
you ve sacrificed to ensure that we receive a good, solid education and have fun while doing so. But,
there is one thing that could possibly make this school better; school uniforms. I don t mean to
propose something that could potentially be very expensive or uncomfortable for the students; I mean
to suggest an idea that could potentially improve the image of the school in its surrounding
community and in the students minds. I don t intend to come off as rude or blunt; this is not an
insidious undertaking. I just wish to inform you of the possibility of something that could mean good
things for your students.
School dress codes have always been a center of controversy, with uniforms being at its core.
Uniforms are a simple way to control how your students look and how they re perceived by the
surrounding community. They also boost the students self esteem and confidence. Nobody has to
worry about wearing the latest trend or how they look in the eyes of their peers. Uniforms equalize the
playing field for every student. Furthermore, uniforms help those who struggle to get out of bed on
time. Wearing the same thing everyday results in a smaller amount of time it takes to get dressed. You
can roll out of bed, throw it on, and be ready to go. Due to wearing the same thing everyday, a school
wide sense of unity is felt. Wearing your school colors everyday creates some unity and spirit, which
results in students feeling like they belong in their school. Schools acquire a sense of identity as their
students are united together, with uniforms creating alliance and harmony. Uniforms make upholding
the dress code system so much easier and they prepare students for the future. When you are held to a
certain standard for a period of time, you use that outside of school. Uniforms show you what is
appropriate in a professional and an academic environment. It s important to understand when to dress
smartly because, in fact, it greatly impacts the future of a student and how they re accepted by future
employers.

Analysis Of Mourning Dove s Under The Whispering Pines
For many decades and centuries, the cultural clashes between the first nation people and the Euro
Canadians have always caused tension to up rise. This goes way back to the late 15th century when
the first European (the English) settlers arrived in eastern Canada claiming the land, followed by the
French. As years went by, more European settlers arrived and this caused more natives to become
marginalized physically (through killings), politically and economically. Mourning Dove s under the
whispering pines conveys some of the negative perspectives, such as viewing the natives as savages or
subhuman. These perspectives are still very common today and still continue to marginalise native
Canadians economically especially native women, as Sky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

mentally he keeps telling himself that he cannot think that way. The Idea struck him as absurd. Never!

love and lust. Alfred Densmore knows as a privileged Euro Canadian, he cannot marry Cogwea, he
cannot have a formal relationship with her and with people like her because he will be passed on with

mostly often associated with in the past, that is the luck of knowledge and savagery. However the idea
of bringing shame to one s race and family was and still is an issue for both Euro Canadians and
Native Canadians. It would be just as hard to bring a white man home for a native woman because of

Health Promotion on Hepatitis Virus
My health promotion or prevention will take place in a college seminar at community college; I chose
this group of people because I realized many colleges make medical records mandatory for only
students in the health related courses and also freshmen living on campuses. I asked myself, what
about those other students who are doing other courses or major who may also be at risk. The main
purpose for viral hepatitis teaching is to inform the students of the importance or benefits from
vaccines to prevent hepatitis virus. This will take place in the school auditorium to get access to
internet and projector to present the information.
After this teaching, students will be able to learn the following:
The types of viral hepatitis
Causes of the types of hepatitis
Ways of preventing viral hepatitis
The leading cause of liver damage due to viral hepatitis B virus and hepatitis C virus represents a
major health problem in the United States. CDC estimates that approximately 3.2 million of
Americans are chronically infected with hepatitis C virus, with an estimate of 8,000 to 10,000
hepatitis C virus related deaths annually (CDC foundation).
Hepatitis can be defined as liver inflammation caused by viral infection or toxins like drugs or alcohol

types A, B, C, D and E. Each of these types of hepatitis can be contracted in various

Refraction Lab
When light passes from the air into a different medium, like water, it is refracted. You can see this by
putting a pencil in a cup of water. The pencil appears to bend, but it isn t actually bent. Again, this is
because of refraction. Putting a pencil in a cup of sugar water would also cause refraction, but the
amount of light refracted would be different. This is because of the changes in density.
Refraction is the bending of light as it goes through a medium. Light waves travel very quickly and
can pass through transparent materials fairly easily, but the waves slow down while they are passing
through these materials. The light passing through a transparent material will bend depending on the
index of refraction. For example, when light waves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When light passes through two substances of different densities, the light is refracted. That is why
materials in water seem oddly placed or bent. The density of the water is different compared to the air
that the light goes through. The difference in densities also slows down the speed in which the light
rays travel through the medium, which causes the bending effect.
Snell s law is a formula that is used to describe the relationship between the angles of refraction and
incidence when talking about light waves passing through two different mediums. This is also known
as the calculation of what degree the light will bend. The degree to which light bends, or refracts,
depends on the incidence angle entering the second material as well as the speed at which the light
travels through the two materials.
An angle of incidence is the angle at which light enters a translucent or transparent material. This can
also be described as the angle between the ray of light and the normal vector of the surface of the
object it is coming into contact with. The normal vector would be a perpendicular vector from the
surface of an object. The angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. This is because the law
of reflection states that the angle between the normal vector and the reflected ray, which is the angle of
reflection, is the same as the angle of

Gangsta Culture And Cultural Resistance
For the longest time art has been a tool for expressing one s self, passion, anger, pain, grief, or even
resistance. Cultural resistance, as Stephen Duncombe claims, can provide a sort of free space for
developing ideas and practices (S. Duncombe 5). There have been multiple theorists trying to identify
what depicts a subcultural group as culturally resistant. Cultural resistance can take different forms
and can be expressed via different media depending on the subcultural group. Some theorists also
identify cultural resistance as a form of political resistance (p. 6). The Gangsta Culture is a widely

Hospitality in the Qu ran
Ideas on Cultural Hospitality in the Quran The virtues within the Qur an regarding hospitality and
generosity seem to be a product of the landscape of pre Islamic Arabia. Indeed, the arid environment
and tribal configuration of the society required that neighbors help each other, strangers or travelers be
given food, and wealth be distributed evenly throughout the clan. The communities that settled along
the trade routes of the Arabian Peninsula relied on merchants returning to their community to trade
goods. One way to ensure this was to make the merchant feel welcome and become a temporary part
of the household. Another way to guarantee their return would be ensuring the merchant survived the
harsh climate of the desert, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a follower gives, generously, and without selfish reasons, then God will provide for all of their
needs, just as they have provided for others. The text goes on to express that even speech full of
kindness and true appreciation is better than the act of charity that hurts (Qur an 2:263). Again this
broad support for kind speech and generous giving is used as a lens through which the stories of
hospitality can be viewed. The Qur an shows the importance of hospitality in two intertwined stories,
and while the passages that dictate kindness, generosity and manners number well over twenty, the
impact of these two hospitality accounts is memorable and complex. The stories actually involve two
patriarchs from Israelite text, who play major roles in Qur anic teachings. The first is in surah 11:69 70
and involves Abraham s interaction with three strangers who turn out to be angels who have come to

the story of their visit with Lot in Sodom. His first reaction to their arrival is to prepare a fatted calf,
an action that frames the generosity of hospitality in a way that promotes giving the best of what you

Peter The Great Absolute Monarchy
Tristan Maracha Mr. McKinney Global 10 December 18, 2014 Peter the Great What is an absolute

people. The royal government is dominant and ruling over its own aristocrats and all of the other
authorities. Basically, in absolutism, there are no other powers that can hold more ground than the
monarchy itself. There are many absolute monarchs that are present in our society and even to this

William Shakespeare s Hamlet is one of the most produced plays of all time. Written during the height
of Shakespeare s fame 1600 Hamlet has been read, produced, and researched by more individuals now
than during Shakespeare s own lifetime. It is has very few stage directions, because Shakespeare
served as the director, even though no such official position existed at the time. Throughout its over
400 years of production history, Hamlet has seen several changes. Several textual cuts have been

Instead of taking immediate action, Hamlet declares to devote himself to the cause. Eventually,
Hamlet becomes incredibly contemplative, and decides to feign lunacy in order to research the
happenings surrounding his father s death.
Hamlet s lunacy becomes quite real at points, and he enters into a deep melancholy. King Claudius
and Queen Gertrude bring Hamlet s schoolmates Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to probe Hamlet and
find the source of his sorrow. Polonious, a pompous, yet loyal, man to Claudius, suggests that Hamlet
is madly in love with his daughter Ophelia. It is during this time Polonius famous brevity is the soul of

Hamlet decides to test his uncle when an acting troupe arrives in Elsinore. He informs the actors to

will react if he is guilty, and his suspicions are confirmed when Claudius jumps from his chair and

The Waterfall Method And Source Code
The Waterfall method uses documentation at the onset of the project that clearly defines the software
requirements. The creation of the documentation and source code usually takes a significant amount of
time. This time consuming process is usually circumvented when using an Agile approach (Arken,
2008). The process, however time consuming, is also extremely important. By clearly defining the
goals and objectives of the project, stakeholders like the customers and developers are on the same
page at the start. Another clear benefit to having documentation of project requirements is realized
whenever there is a change of personnel during the project lifetime. The creation of documentation
helps prevent project failure if one or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By providing working iterations of code to stakeholders several times over the course of a projects
life, changes are requested and the code is altered on demand; this can help prevent project failure.
Customer oriented Development
To this point, one stark contrast between the Waterfall and Agile methods of software development is
the degree to which they involve the customer. In this sense it is easier to think of the Waterfall model
as being more predictive and the Agile model as being more adaptive . There are milestones in either
case, but the changes that are a result of customer input drive the flow of development in an Agile
system (Arken 2008). One can see how the adaptive vs. predictive differences can become more of a
problem where finances are concerned.
Project Management
Looking at each methodology from a different perspective, the management perspective, unveils
additional benefits and setbacks. The rigidity of the Waterfall method for software development can be
cumbersome when dealing with changing expectations, but it makes it easier for management to
manage the project s progression. Having clear goals makes it easy for managers to track the
development process. It is more difficult to track a project where requirements are constantly
evolving. Most of the projects (not involving software development) in our department are tracked
through their process. As goals are achieved, completion nears 100%.

A Research Assignment For Mcdonald s S
Research assignment for McDonald s
Introduction
Why we chose McDonald s
Out of three major business enterprises, the best info that we found was on McDonald s. For that
reason, we decided to focus on McDonald s for this assignment. We did some preliminary research
and came up with some main issues that are pertinent to this business enterprise.
Main issues pertinent to McDonald s
Mc Spotlight (2015) had launched a campaign asking what is wrong with McDonald s. Four of the
main issues stated by the campaign were the promotion of unhealthy food, the exploitation of workers,
an outbreak of food poisoning, the environmental damage done by the business enterprise, and many
more.
Promotion of unhealthy food
It is said that the food at McDonald s is promoted as being nutritious, however what is really being
served by McDonald s is junk food foods exceedingly high in sugar, fat and salt, and reasonably low
in fibre and vitamins.
Food Safety
The quality of McDonald s food has often criticized. Being high in sugar, salt and fat, the food is far
from healthy. The business has tried to address this issue by adding healthier food options such as
salads and yogurt to the menu. However, a recent scandal in China, were there are reports of expired
and condemned meat being used and severed to customers has severely tarnished the company s
already poor reputation (The Economist 2015). This event also saw a massive drop in Sales in Asia as
customers reacted to the scandal (Jones

  • 2. HIV In Prisons In the US prison system an estimated 1 in 7 HIV infected individuals pass through correctional faculties each year without being identified as having HIV (Beckwith et al. 183). In prison, out of 2.2 million people incarcerated, 1.5% have HIV or AIDS (21,987 people) (Lovinger 1). This number is four times the HIV prevalence rate in the non institutionalized population. If an inmate is released back into his or her community with an untreated HIV virus it puts the community at risk and themselves in greater danger. The inequity exists in this situation because HIV positive incarcerated individuals are receiving worse and delayed care in prison compared to out of prison. My research question being, to what extent does the quality and access of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A way to stop this would be to continue to promote programs like Project START, which focuses on educating HIV infected individuals released from prison, into better communities. By imposing this on a national and community level scale you will be able to account for people who may have not received quality care in prison. We are doing some of this right as we have programs that help with this like the Returning Home Ohio program, which accepts HIV positive individuals form Cuyahoga County released from jail. To continue to impose these and to get prisons to take advantage of the many HIV centers in their community would help efficiently fight the HIV crisis in prison. A way to fund these would be to get volunteers to help run these programs and try to get donations. A way to know this is working would be to survey the amount of HIV ex convicts joining these ... • 3. Hospital Supply Chain Management Supply Chain 1 I Care Healthcare Supply Chain Management By Jeffrey S. Moser Operations Management MGT 554 Professor Stephen Wernick October 12, 2004 Supply Chain 2 Supply Chain Management plays a vital role in our hospitals today. With the growing cost of healthcare and new technologies, it is vital for hospitals to run as efficiently as possible and without jeopardizing care. To the materials manager and to the financial minds of a hospital the area of supply chain is a tedius task at best, the kind of planning, strategizing and measuring that seldom goes recognized and rewarded. The work involved with inventory control fits tightly within that description. In many hospitals today, it is easy for inventory control to go astray and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Until that time comes, if ever, there needs to be another solution. There is no quick fix, but I will start with a list of criteria that will help us better control I Cares inventory, understand what is being spent, where it is being spent and areas where we can cut costs on supplys, which according to ASCET (Achieving Supply Chain Excellence through Technology) makes up between 25 and 30% of a hospitals operating costs. 1. Understand your spend. Knowing exactly what you are keeping in inventory, where it comes from, and how it s received, handled and stored is critical to inventory reduction efforts. There are many programs that can gather and track this data, but technology is an enabler not a solution. There must still be business processes in place to analyze this data to make it worthwhile. 2. Rationalize SKUs. This requires data about what SKUs are being used, by whom, and for what. This is the biggest challenge, but armed with this information, you ll be able to impact inventory levels, SKU proliferation, leverage substitutes and alternates or even the need to stock certain materials at all. 3. Leverage key strategic partners/distributors for information and just in time services which will substitute inventory stockpiles. This means you get only what you need. And, should you need more of a product on occasion, you know exactly where to find it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the class ended, I excited and then remembered that it had to drop by Melissa s to drop of the notes from the class. Where are you going, Chenoa? The exit is that way. I really appreciate this. Always, Mel. Thanks Noa. Could you go over the notes again? Of course! I spent the next 20 minutes explaining the notes, and helping her. At the end, I left and returned to my den. All I could think about was how strange of a day this would be, and where was The city of Burning Eyes? It just didn t make sense. Maybe Melissa had been lying and did remember what she said, and even maybe knew why she said it? She had such a strange voice in that moment, too. It seemed like she wasn t there... but it s just so unstable, when talking about all that happened today. With my head pounding full of questions and thoughts, my head hit the pillow and I was out. The following morning was the weekend, so I didn t really have anywhere to go. Our work and school play such big parts of our lives, that the only definition of rest is sleep. Most of us just take the day to sleep, but I m not that type of person. I like doing something productive on the weekend, or at least not spending it inside my den. • 5. Pros And Cons Of Agricultural Subsidies In late 1920, early 1930 s, the government of the United States of America (USA) first initiated efforts to control the agricultural economy during the great depression. During that period of time, farm prices collapsed and therefore farmers hardly had any income. Subsidies are benefits given by the state to specific groups needing financial aid in form of cash or tax reduction. Subsidies are often considered to be in the interest of the general public. Agricultural subsidies therefore exist to stabilize food prices, ensure a healthy food production, guaranteeing a farmer s basic income and in general to strengthen the agricultural part of the economies gross domestic product (GDP) (encyclopedia.com, agricultural subsidies). In reality however, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since there are farmers with more financial opportunities, smaller farms would suffer from the inequality that would be present, as they can not afford high priced equipment and machinery to expand their production or to even invest in new crops. However, when the government decides on subsidies, especially the smaller farms profit from the extra cash, as they can now afford to keep up with the competition. This means that subsidies enable the smaller farms to produce at an optimal level of production. Therefore, financial aids by the state also aim to prevent that there is a monopoly of one farmer since a monopoly would damage the whole agricultural industry. In contrast to monopoly, competition plays an important role, not only in the agricultural, but in any industry. A healthy competition leads to a variety of products the consumer can choose from at an affordable price since a high contestability leads to prices going down to average cost at some point because of the constant undercutting in ... • 6. Liberal Arts Yay Or Nay Essay Liberal Arts: Yay or Nay? In recent discussions of liberal arts degrees, a controversial issue has been whether they are worth getting rather than a vocational degree. On one hand, some argue that getting a liberal arts degree is a waste of money and there are very limited jobs out there that a liberal arts degree could be used for. On the other hand, however, others argue that in order to be a well rounded person and to be more interesting, a student should work towards a liberal arts degree. According to this view, even though there is not one specific job that the individual will be trained for while obtaining a liberal arts education, he or she will be feeding their brain and giving himself or herself a chance to develop better knowledge of subjects in social sciences, literature, and mathematics. In sum, then, the issue is whether getting a liberal arts education is worth it or not. My own view is that I believe being an intellectually developed person is extremely important; therefore, I agree that pursuing a liberal arts education can be very valuable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people believe that there are no jobs available to people with liberal arts degrees, but they would be wrong. If a student got a degree in English/Literature, they could become a teacher, any kind of journalist or author, or a reporter. All of these occupations have a very wide scope and encompass many different kinds of jobs. One of the misconceptions in Sanford J. Ungar s essay The New Liberal Arts is that no one wants to hire a person with an irrelevant liberal arts degree. He then proceeded to explain that in a recent study more than three quarters of employers encourage college bound students to get a liberal arts degree. So, that just proves that employers are seeking well rounded students that have a liberal arts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Katherine Carroll s Alice s Adventures, Wonderland And... In most Victorian literature, curious women are severely punished because Victorian society prohibited women from indulging themselves in curiosity; this idea originates from the fear that female knowledge would jeopardize patriarchal security (Aikens 29). In contrast, the protagonist of Lewis Carroll s Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass (and What Alice Found There) does not receive punishment for her curiosity, despite living under Victorian conditions. Instead, Carroll replaces this prohibitive standard with a standard of freedom entitled to both genders. Most literary critics, therefore, accept Carroll as a feminist and praise him for challenging gender stereotypes. Others, however, are hesitant to do the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... in Cohen 16) These gender roles are derived from natural characteristics of men and women: a woman s natural gentleness provides the best environment for a developing child, and a man s natural intellectual and fighting superiority make them best suited for the field (Cohen 16). Thus, while men commuted to their place of work, women stayed home to oversee domestic duties because all Victorians, even those who idolized women, saw [women] as the weaker sex, requiring protection and support ; they believed that to subject the female body to any manly tasks would be to abuse it (Cohen 18). Also, Victorian women strived for motherhood since marriage and reproduction were of utmost importance to them; they devoted their pre marital lives to obtaining knowledge ranging from music and singing to modern languages, solely for the purpose of attracting a husband (Corbett 22). Though based on general characteristics, these standards do not account for every man or woman. Who is to say that a man cannot be as nurturing or supportive as a woman, or that a woman cannot excel intellectually or fight adeptly? Is a woman automatically incapable of living up to her male counterpart, or is the capability to succeed in a field dependent upon the individual and not the gender? These are the questions Carroll addresses through his depiction of Alice, the empowering protagonist who inadvertently challenges gender stereotypes. Unbeknownst to Alice, her most prominent ... • 9. Features Of A Network Topology Essay 2.1 Topology: Actually here we are discussing about a network topology. A topology is the physical configuration of a network that determines how the network s computers are connected. The way in which constituent parts are arranged. The physical topology of a network is the actual geometric layout of workstations. There are several common physical topologies based on the configuration. They are Star Topology, Ring Topology, Buss Topology, Mesh Topology, Hybrid Topology and Tree Topology. 2.2 Star Topology: Star topology is one of the most common network setups. In this arrangement, every node connects to a central hub, switch or computer; the hub acting as a server and the peripheral devices as clients. A major disadvantage of this network topology is that if the central hub fails, all of the connected devices are disconnected. In a star network layout, each workstation is connected by its own cable directly to the server. Star networks are usually the layout of choice in schools and offices because they tend to be the most reliable of the topologies. The visual example shows how this setup gets its name as it is shaped very much like a star. FIGURE 2.1: Star Topology Advantages: Star networks are very reliable. If one connection fails, it does not affect other users Very few data collisions as each workstation has its own cable to the server Good security no workstation can interact with another without going through the server first Easy to install ... • 10. Feudalism In Cinderella The French invaded the Rhineland, in what is now Germany, in 1792 during the French Revolution. During this time, the French invaders pillaged towns, raped women, and destroyed entire families. While the French believed that they were liberating the Germans from the yoke of feudalism, (Large 629) they were really creating a bitter enemy of the German people who found unity in hating anything French. This new found zealotry was exemplified during the Romanticism period by writers such as the Grimm brothers. They believed that writing down these folk tales was a way of accurately representing their German culture. Due to this deep seeded belief, they allude to the French invaders of Germany in Cinderella through the use of the evil stepsisters who invade Cinderella s home. When the stepsisters arrive, Cinderella is forced to work from dusk to dawn in her own house, but she is able to maintain her kindness. This image created through Cinderella s struggle can be compared to that of the German people. The portrayal of the evil stepsisters as France, Cinderella as Germany, and the Dove as the Holy Trinity, shows that the Grimm s version of Cinderella acts not only as a story to entertain audiences but as a way to represent the German s struggles against the French occupation of the Rhineland. The stepsisters that intruded into Cinderella s home are unmistakable allusions toward the French invaders of 1792. The Grimm s used some of the essential elements of nationalism when ... • 12. The United Nations Stabilization Mission Essay The term United Nations was, according to the UN s official website, coined by United States president Franklin Roosevelt in the context of the fact that the nations were united against the Axis forces in World War Two. In 1945, the United Nations officially started with fifty one states as its members. Since then, the United Nations has grown greatly to nearly 200 state members. The United Nations has several specific purposes that it tries to fulfill. First, its primary goal is to maintain international peace and security. According to the UN s website, there are five main ways that it fulfills this purpose. First by preventing conflict before it even starts specifically with diplomatic discussions and actions in a peaceful manner. Second, the UN maintains international security with peace keeping organizations. For example, the UN currently is working as the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti to not only help with the rebuilding after the devastating earthquakes but also simply maintain peace in the country. In addition to working in preventative and peacekeeping ways, the United Nations also works towards peace with Peace Building activities, such as its work in Burundi until 2012. Survey of Cognitive Remediation Practices for Individuals with Schizophrenia: Implementation and Barriers Schizophrenia is a severe and chronic mental illness characterized by substantial cognitive, emotional and perceptual deficits. The symptoms and dysfunctions of schizophrenia manifest themselves in varying states of severity across individuals but are often associated with high rates of mortality, substance abuse, and co morbidity with other mental disorders. In addition to earlier mortality rates (Crump, Winkleby, Sundquist Sundquist, 2013), symptoms of schizophrenia often interfere with one s ability to function and perform daily tasks. Cognitive impairment (CI) has specifically been identified as a critical barrier to functional recovery for individuals and as a result, cognitive remediation (CR) programs are increasingly employed as treatment interventions to address these issues. To bolster his argument, King adroitly employs personal anecdotes, forced teaming, and comparisons to sway his readers. King begins his deft use of personal anecdotes with his discussion of his work in the ghettos. He narrates, ...[a deeper level of awareness] grows out of my experience in the ghettos of the North over the last three years especially the last three summers. As I have walked among the desperate, rejected, and angry young men, I have told them that Molotov cocktails and rifles would not solve their problems...But they ask and rightfully so what about Vietnam? This personal anecdote helps King s persuasiveness on several levels. First, this story establishes his credibility as a speaker. King is out in the streets working with young men addressing violence and injustice. These experiences provide him with a plethora of first hand knowledge in addition to providing the reader with an example that King practices what he preaches. On the other hand, this story helps King develop a strong sense of pathos in his piece. Many Americans have been taught that violence is never the answer; thus, they inherently acknowledge the truth of this statement. As King echoes this proverb to the young men, they argue What about Vietnam? By asking this question, the reader realizes their own government is going against one of their fundamental beliefs. This makes the reader question the morality of the war in Vietnam. Without personal anecdotes, King s message would lose its great emotional impact. Just as persuasive as his use of personal anecdotes are King s analogies. While discussing the detrimental effect the war in Vietnam will have on America, King describes, If America s soul becomes totally poisoned, part of the autopsy must read: Vietnam. In King s analogy, he refers to morality as the soul of America. The word soul can be defined as the purest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Price Of Persecution By Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye The Price of Persecution The plight of the weak against the powerful is one of the oldest and compelling stories that can be told, and it has always been the story of race in the United States. Toni Morrison s The Bluest Eye is a candid look into the lives of African Americans in the early 1940 s, focusing on the drama surrounding the coming of age of young girls. The debilitating effects of racism, sexism, and classism on children and adults of different social statuses are explored through the stories of a number of families. Geraldine s obsession with pedantic distinctions between different groups of black residents in Lorain leads her son and the whole next generation to preserve the biases of their parents. The maltreatment practiced by those of mixed race has a real impact on those they perceive as inferior. Maureen Peal is a wealthy mixed race girl that moves to Pecola s school. The following aspects are the key element in which Frank talks about throughout the book; the rising power of the machine, in contrast to the abrasive effect it has in the industry and the positive effects of the machine in the fields of Art and Crafts. Frank talks about the destruction of art with the use of the machine, as he states, that the machine has dealt Art in the grand old sense a death blow, none will deny. This suggestion implies to the mass production of furniture and art being produced on a large scale, only to lose their original value. William Morris himself and his disciples created a movement called the arts and craft movement , as they envisioned the rising power of the machine and the enslavement of mass production. • 24. Persuasive Speech On School Uniforms Superintendent Crouse, School Board Members, and Administrators of Loveland High School, thank you for all you have done for this wonderful school and its students. We are deeply appreciative of all you ve sacrificed to ensure that we receive a good, solid education and have fun while doing so. But, there is one thing that could possibly make this school better; school uniforms. I don t mean to propose something that could potentially be very expensive or uncomfortable for the students; I mean to suggest an idea that could potentially improve the image of the school in its surrounding community and in the students minds. I don t intend to come off as rude or blunt; this is not an insidious undertaking. I just wish to inform you of the possibility of something that could mean good things for your students. School dress codes have always been a center of controversy, with uniforms being at its core. Uniforms are a simple way to control how your students look and how they re perceived by the surrounding community. They also boost the students self esteem and confidence. Nobody has to worry about wearing the latest trend or how they look in the eyes of their peers. Uniforms equalize the playing field for every student. Furthermore, uniforms help those who struggle to get out of bed on time. Wearing the same thing everyday results in a smaller amount of time it takes to get dressed. You can roll out of bed, throw it on, and be ready to go. Due to wearing the same thing everyday, a school wide sense of unity is felt. Wearing your school colors everyday creates some unity and spirit, which results in students feeling like they belong in their school. Schools acquire a sense of identity as their students are united together, with uniforms creating alliance and harmony. Uniforms make upholding the dress code system so much easier and they prepare students for the future. When you are held to a certain standard for a period of time, you use that outside of school. Uniforms show you what is appropriate in a professional and an academic environment. It s important to understand when to dress smartly because, in fact, it greatly impacts the future of a student and how they re accepted by future employers. Don t you ... • 27. Refraction Lab When light passes from the air into a different medium, like water, it is refracted. You can see this by putting a pencil in a cup of water. The pencil appears to bend, but it isn t actually bent. Again, this is because of refraction. Putting a pencil in a cup of sugar water would also cause refraction, but the amount of light refracted would be different. This is because of the changes in density. Refraction is the bending of light as it goes through a medium. Light waves travel very quickly and can pass through transparent materials fairly easily, but the waves slow down while they are passing through these materials. The light passing through a transparent material will bend depending on the index of refraction. For example, when light waves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When light passes through two substances of different densities, the light is refracted. That is why materials in water seem oddly placed or bent. The density of the water is different compared to the air that the light goes through. The difference in densities also slows down the speed in which the light rays travel through the medium, which causes the bending effect. Snell s law is a formula that is used to describe the relationship between the angles of refraction and incidence when talking about light waves passing through two different mediums. This is also known as the calculation of what degree the light will bend. The degree to which light bends, or refracts, depends on the incidence angle entering the second material as well as the speed at which the light travels through the two materials. An angle of incidence is the angle at which light enters a translucent or transparent material. This can also be described as the angle between the ray of light and the normal vector of the surface of the object it is coming into contact with. The normal vector would be a perpendicular vector from the surface of an object. The angle of reflection is equal to the angle of incidence. This is because the law of reflection states that the angle between the normal vector and the reflected ray, which is the angle of reflection, is the same as the angle of ...
